Friends treated me to the limited time only lunch special that is AYCE shabu for $15.99 which included all items off the rotary belt, sauce bar, fresh fruits and a selection of soft drinks. This price didn't include any sliced meats and I didn't try any sliced meats either, so I can't provide a review on that.
I ordered the mushroom broth and cooked many different vegetarian, quail eggs and some processed meat dishes (spam, fish balls with roe, stuffed tofu pockets, dumplings, etc.). The ingredients were fresh, cleaned well and are as delicious as they can be for hot pot. The broth is light and not too salty. They claimed there are over 60 different items at the rotary, but I only tried about 13-15 of them. Sauce bar is similar to all the other hot pot places in Chinatown, except no free appetizers or large variety of snacks and desserts. My Jasmine tea was light and went well with my food.
Overall, I stuffed myself silly for $21 after tax and tip for lunch despite not having any sliced meats. I enjoyed my meal and very grateful for the experience! However, if I wanted a variety of sliced meats and fresh seafood, other AYCE establishments provide better value.
What I like about this joint is, I didn't stink of hot pot broth upon leaving so their ventilation must be pretty effective. The service is also welcoming and informative. I also like the higher tech aspect of having a tablet at each table to place orders, requests service, tally up your bill, see remaining time, etc. Another plus, is Sushi plus also validates parking at the lot.
I recommend this spot for first timers to hot pot and also those who are vegetarians for this lunch special.
