Ann Arbor’s First Shake Shack Opens on July 15 - Eater Detroit

"Fast-casual burger giant Shake Shack is slated to open the doors at its first Ann Arbor outpost next week. The New York-based cult favorite restaurant chain will debut at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 15 at 3030 Washtenaw Ave #107. Shake Shack is known for Angus beef burgers served on Martin’s Potato Rolls, fried chicken sandwiches, and grilled hot dogs with crinkle cut fries. The restaurants also feature frozen custard concretes, which regularly feature local products. The Ann Arbor location will serve three concretes that are special to the location, per a release. They include the Wolverine Dream (vanilla custard with marshmallow sauce, graham crackers, and strawberry puree), the Shack Attack (chocolate custard with fudge sauce, Zingerman’s Bakehouse Black Magic brownies, Mast Brothers chocolate chunks, and chocolate sprinkles), and the Pie Oh My (vanilla custard with Zingerman’s Bakehouse pie). The 3,000-square-foot restaurant will feature an outdoor patio area and a similar interior to other Shacks around the state with tables made from reclaimed bowling alley lanes. Shake Shack openings are known to draw long lines. The restaurant is giving away free swag to the first 100 people in the door in Ann Arbor on opening day." - Brenna Houck

Google
Tried the new Carolina burger with BBQ sauce and deep fried pickles and it did not disappoint. The shopping area it was in was packed and parking was a little annoying but that isn’t shake shacks fault. The place was clean and had TVs with the baseball game on which I liked. It was quicker than usual for my burger to be served so that was a plus.

Google
Parking lot is WAY TOO SMALL. So stressful to walk around and there is actually no spots for any cars. Inside, there are barely any tables and it’s so hot. Food is fresh and hot but takes a while but is understandable.

Google
I went specifically for the Dubai shake and it was ok. The other people in my group got the other shakes and they were amazing! The burgers were great and it was cute inside. Just disappointed with my shake.

Google
Super cool place. My girl goes every time w her family when they go to the nearby mall like a tradition. My first time. Good food. I liked the tray server setup thing for the entrees. Will go back. Super greasy though. Had to poop like instantly.

Google
4 stars They have kiosk to order food and the server will send the food to your table so it was pretty convenient. Plenty of seats with outdoor table spaces. Ordered their new menu item - Carolina BBQ burger which was okay! For pickle lovers only because it came with original pickle and fried pickle. The sauce was too sweet so not really my type.

Google
Very consistently good location over here. Always delivers a tasty burger with fresh onions, flavorful bacon and avocado. The burger patties also taste very high quality and are cooked perfectly. My only complaint would be that the burger juices can quickly turn the Gluten-Free bun into mush if not properly insulated. Perhaps putting lettuce under the patty to prevent the juices from pulverizing the bottom bun could help! Even still I will continue to order from this location!

Google
Food is amazing. First time there I had a chicken sandwich and wow. Then second time I did a burger and same result 🔥. Fries are really good. Food is fair priced, for me and the wife it was $26 and some change after taxes. We both had leftover fries.

Google
I needed a quick bite on my drive home and shake shack way nearby. There was a free shake promotion and the shroom burger this was one of the best vegetarian options I’ve had. I got the truffle version and it was excellent. Crispy, hot, gooey cheese, flavorful sauce, cold lettuce. Employee was friendly and kind. Zero complaints.

Yelp
Phenomenal location and great service from the team. What we got: Shroom Burger Smokeshack Fries Great meal and seating.

Yelp
Long wait for food to be made. (*Yelp censored comments*) $23 for one burger, one avocado, chicken sandwich, and one order of fries. Very much overpriced. The food was decent. I would not get bacon on anything in the future due to how salty it is. Honestly ruined the chicken sandwich for me.

Yelp
We ordered at a tablet and took a seat. The food was promptly brought to our table by a friendly server. The food was typical shake shack fare. The restaurant was clean and there was plenty of seating.

Yelp
I will never stop raving about the spicy korean cheese fries, hands down the best fries I have ever had! The korean bbq sauce it came with was so unique and addicting. The shackburger never disappoints as always and the frozen custard was pretty good. The service was quick but there was a confusion in my order so it took a while to come. The place is big and clean. This is definitely my fave burger spot!

Yelp
They have customers make their order on a tablet. Kind of crowded on a Saturday evening but luckily we got a table to sit at. Food was okay. Shake was delicious. Customer service was nice.

Yelp
Came here around 7:30 on a Saturday night. It was not very busy. We waited about 10 minutes for our food. Ordered a shake shack burger a bacon, avocado burger, two orders of fries, a chocolate shake, and a shackmeister ale that we were told was brewed, particularly to match with my burger. My burger was cooked just right, with a little messy because of the toppings, but was an excellent burger. Fries were crispy and hot and of course the beer was delightful!

Yelp
Can't fault them for price - I see it and still pay it. It's a very tasty burger (unintended Pulp Fiction reference) and their fries are usually great. But Five Guys is within arms-length, and I feel like I can get a better burger for $1-$2 more. Seems to be strict rationing on the Shack Sauce - the little sauce cups are usually 60% empty. Chicken nuggets and sandwich? - good flavor, but just pricey enough to make me side-eye. Competition is too stiff here - Ma Lou's, Fat Daddy's... I keep forgetting to cancel Panera Sip Club, and I can't recall any Shake Shack drinks that help me remember. The Arnold Palmer isn't bad though. The shakes seem just like Five Guys to me. When the order is correct, it's a delicious meal, and you can get a lot of good stuff in one spot. Definitely give it a shot.

Yelp
We had five different burgers and fries. A couple shakes and some soft drinks. The service was quick and the restaurant looked a little rough. Not much more to add.

Yelp
Shake Shack is dank. Our food is always made fresh and served piping hot. There are multiple locations in our area, but we usually hit the Ann Arbor Shake Shack. The smash burger is so delicious! The beef is always so fresh and flavorful with a perfect crunch around the edges, just how we like. The crinkle cut french fry is always cooked in fresh grease, so the only taste is the amazing flavor of the fry itself. I wash it down with a refreshing root beer. This combo brings back memories of childhood. I tried their chicken nugs- so tender & flavorful. Don't forget dessert! The shakes are the best. I always get a strawberry shake to finish off- fresh strawberries in a nice vanilla ice cream- so good! If we are doing, "Fast food," I prefer Shake Shack. It's never frozen and consistently the best "fast food" burger! You must give Shake Shack a try, you will be hooked!

Yelp
Cookies and cream malt is my favorite weekend treat. Fast and easy pick up. They are well staffed very nice.

Yelp
Stopped here for a quick bite. Parking was easy and the interior was clean and modern. The staff was very friendly. Son had the shake which he loves to get at every Shake Shack. Food was good, nothing fancy.

Yelp
It's a terrible product at a high price and their corporate office has no morals. Every time I have gotten food there it's been bad.

Yelp
I finally visited the Ann Arbor location to actually eat. It is a nice location, I like that there is a good parking situation and it is surrounded by some fun shopping options. So we decided to make a night of it. We came here for dessert and I am glad I did. This season's shakes are from Milk Bar. Going through the line they have most of the classic dishes. I like that this location has their classic red and white wines and their beer. I am a fan. It looks like they added a rose, which I will need to try. When we ordered our shakes I was not a fan of the cashier attempting a small up-charge move. She asked if we wanted whipped cream and other options that might have cost more without telling us the price would go up. Now I am all for options, but I would like to hear "..do want whipped cream for $$$ extra?" I actually asked if it was more and she replied yet. I have never been to a Shake Shack where they have tried to up-sell me. We got the corn flake milk bar shake with marshmallows, the chocolate birthday cake milk bar shake, and a black and white shake. The milk bar shakes were filled to the top in a clear cup but when we opened the black and white it was only 3/4 full and had a huge gap. We did tell the staff so they generously gave us a cup of a bit more without question which was nice. The milk bar shakes were good, but not their best and not my favorite. I liked the flavor profiles but they were not the typical thick shakes and not as good as some of the other seasonal favorites. They usually have a pumpkin shake we get at this time and that was missing this year. I am also sad that Michigan has not regained the concretes which were my absolute favorite. I truly hope they have not been permanently removed from the menu. That was a big reason why I frequented Shake Shack. I understood it made it easier a year and a half ago, but now that most menus at most restaurants are back to their full versions I would consider going to Culver's that has a full choice of concretes and a similar flavor. They also have not brought back the chicken dog which was a favorite when my kids were younger and would still order if they were available. I am not sure I would go back to this Shake Shack over some other locations. I look forward to the Rochester Villages location to open. That one is closer to me and in an area I frequent more often. So as soon as it opens I will be there.

Yelp
I ordered the veggie burger and it was delicious. I kept the cheese on and it was one of the best veggie burgers I've had. Especially from a more "fast food" esquire place

Yelp
Mids for price fries were crispy yet soggy from grease it was end of day but they had an oil taste, burger was mid for price and the root beer slapped the shake wasn't bad .. wasn't my favorite food ever ... customer service was good although the place did need a good sanitation on a Friday night as a traveler not sure I'd pick again when I return to A2 for appointments.

Yelp
Food is great. Service is pretty average - they are doing their best with so many online orders I'm sure but sometimes it's tough when there's a line backed up at the ordering stations and there isn't clarity if you order in those stations or with the person up front. But a good casual spot.

Yelp
I absolutely love a Shake Shack moment. I like that there's a good variety of options and I really love their milkshakes. Burgers are always flavorful and just right. My faves are their cheese fries and the shroom shack, however the smoke shack is my usual go to. The peppers have such a delightful kick to them! I will say for what you get, it is a tad overpriced but obviously not enough to deter me from enjoying their deliciousness! Pick up over the last year has been a breeze. Food has always been ready on time and staff is friendly and helpful. I did prefer the pick up table they had set up prior to in-door dining being open again. Pick up is still easy but I have to walk through the whole space and all the inside diners

Yelp
I gotta say this place is excellent. I've been to many shake shacks the on in Chicago had too greasy burgers. This shack burgers weren't greasy and fries were perfectly cooked. A lot of huddled lemmings around the order kiosks but fantastic burger and workers were prompt. Only negative was the begging for tips from the POS system. Don't tip at an order counter.

Yelp
I saw CNN article about Shake Shack bringing Korean menus to the states side, so I decided to swing by during lunch. I ordered online via DoorDash for pickup. I got the following: - 2 orders of Korean Style Fried Chicken sandwich - 1 order of Korean Gochujang Chick'n Bites (10 pcs) - 1 order of Black Sugar Vanilla Shake So my thoughts? - Sandwich - fried chicken breast, on top of coleslaw and topped with gochujang sauce in a bun. Yes, very simple, but at $7.49 a piece?? It's worth trying once and that's about it. The gochujang sauce is on the mild side, most likely to meet the American taste bud. Overall, it was decent, but not something I would go out of my way to buy. The sandwich itself is very small, I would recommend you stick to their burgers. - Korean Gochujang Chick'n Bites - to be honest, couldn't tell if this was a new offering or not... the chicken bites looks the same as their original offering, I think the difference is that they offer the gochujang dipping sauce (I did not get the sauce, they only gave me ketchup) - Black Sugar Vanilla Shake - as the name states, it's vanilla shake with black sugar mixed in. Overall, try the new chicken sandwich, but would just stick to their burgers.

Yelp
We can't go to Ann Arbor and not grab Shake Shack. It's the kind of good that stays with you for hours. This location is great, very spacious, and the staff is great. Super kind, funny, and they check on you often. In fact, once a manager walked by, felt my shake was runny, and brought me out a new one, without me even asking. This is fast food without the grease, underwhelming taste, or digestive regret if normal fast food. It's like bougie fast food. I've never regretted it. I always get the Chick 'n Shack, fries and a cookies and cream shake. I can barely finish it all, it's so much food. And the herbed Mayo on the sandwich is straight from God. If you don't dig chicken, their Shack Burger is pretty good, too!

Yelp
Last day of my staycation and I was NOT in the mood to cook. "What do you think about delivery?" I asked my husband. "Sure, what do you have in mind?" I scrolled through my delivery apps and saw Shake Shack had a deal--"buy one get one free" on the shakes. It made my decision for me! Both my husband and I ordered the Chick'n Shack and I got the cheese fries. We both had the cookies and cream shake. We live on the other side of town so I wasn't sure how the food would arrive but it was perfect. The chicken was crispy, the fries were still hot, the shake was still chilled. The only thing was the cheese for the cheese fries got a little stiff but nothing a couple of seconds in the microwave couldn't fix. It was all excellent. Turnaround time in general was really quick, too. It was ready for pick up by our driver in 20 minutes and to us just a little over a half hour later. It will definitely be joining the regular rotation of delivery over here!

Yelp
Today was a first time coming to this restaurant and the staff wasn't so helpful with ordering. They didn't really assist us with ordering process. So we stared at menus for a while and felt little rushed to make decisions. Also price is ridiculously expensive in my opinion. Just one burger costed 6dollars and doesn't come with drinks or fries. So you have to order everything individually. But I get it because it's located in Ann Arbor and pretty much everything cost more in this area than other places in Michigan. Burger was very small for that price. French furies portion size was small also and it is just plain fries that you can get from grocery store. Vanilla shake was ok. Over all I was disappointed by the price and quality of food. Burger was good but nothing really special. This is a place that I wouldn't go back again. We finish the burger less than one minute.

Yelp
I was beyond happy to accidentally find a Shake Shack in Ann Arbor. I was driving to get my hair done and bam... Shake Shack. Well, hello! First time I came to Shake Shack, I had no idea what it was. Just knew I like custard ice cream and it comes in shake form. I was pretty happy to see them pop up more places from the airport and close to the city I live in. Shake Shack has great burgers, but I have to say I'm in love with the stuffed portobello burger. This giant portobello is stuffed with cheese and fried. You can add this to a burger or make the mushroom your burger. Pair it with some cheese fries and a shake. Put a fork in me! The cheese gets Uber hot so don't burn your face like I do. I get so excited for yummy food, that the cheese fries hold me over until it's time to stuff my face. First bite.... cheesy mushroom goodness. Pretty freaking amazing! It's my higher end version of fast food and I freaking love it!

Lauren M.

Yelp
I'm not a meat eater, but my family loves their burgers and fries! We all love their shakes and I'm super thankful they offer a dairy free option for me to enjoy, too. Service is quick and friendly and they always get our order correct. Highly recommend.

Gary J.

Yelp
Chicken pieces were hot, but not great. Chicken sandwich was not good. The bun was terrible, and the flattened chicken was small and not tasty. The fries were very good. My wife said she would not eat there again. This used to be pretty good..... but no more.

Yelp
Coming from NYC and having tried various locations of Shake Shack, this spot is definitely on par with its quality of food and speed of service. The Shack Burger is amazing as always - not sure what they put in it to make it addicting, but I am hooked on these burgers and I'm not even a big burger fan normally. The fries are solid, and I suspect they're double-fried given how crispy they come out. There's plenty of beverage options, ranging from lemonades to beer. You also can't go wrong with the Chicken Shack - it's the perfect chicken sandwich. If you haven't been here, do yourself a favor and give this overachieving fast food joint a try! You can't go wrong.

Yelp
I first tried Shake Shack about 10 years ago at the Madison Square Park location. It was the dead of winter and I walked about a mile for their black & white custard shake & it was so worth it. Since then, Shake Shack has proliferated all throughout the United States and I've had it in Vegas, Los Angeles, DC to name a few...& most recently, A2! Yeet. While I'm an In n Out diehard because I'm born & raised in California, I think Shake Shack has a good reason to be/carves out a space for itself in the burger world. I've learned over time what I love (shroom burger!! and concretes!) and don't love (crinkly cut fries are disappointing & just no to the hot dogs), so I usually stick to the game plan. The driver of my first visit to this location was the sweet stuff, but I did pick up a protein-style Shack burger for the first time (decent. In N Out is better, ha). Across all Shake Shacks in the US, they've brought over their Black Sesame shake from Japan. I LOVE black sesame - it's very...cereal-like. If you like something a bit like a corn flake & peanut butter had a baby, you'll like black sesame! They also have unique Ann Arbor-specific concretes like the Wolverine Dream and Pie Oh My, which features seasonal Zingerman's pies! Mmm mm! I was really surprised by how busy it was on a Wednesday evening in the summer. Note: Shake Shacks don't have drive thrus BUT you can mobile order & pick up, which might be the way to go until the grand opening surge dies down.

Yelp
Gotta say I always get into a debate on whether this place is better than others and I think so far is 50/50. Great ambiance and distribution on this chain, pretty well organized and food ready in minutes. Went to this location while I had some days off and it was great I really love the taste of the Smokeshack; I believe I've never tried any bacon like this one and that makes a huge difference. Our order was to carry out and I almost forgot that you need to grab little packages of mayo, mustard and serve yourself some ketchup because they don't add it. Also what this chain differs from other fast food is that there bare no combos you have to order fries and coke aside. Great value and taste, give it a try!

Yelp
Shake shack does not disappoint. I've had shake shack in NY and was happy to see one in Ann Arbor. The employees who rang us up were super friendly and the food came out fairly quickly. The burgers were so delicious- just as I remembered! And I love their filtered water dispenser. I will be making a trip up here whenever I get a chance!

Yelp
Came here on a Sunday morning around 11am right when they opened. There weren't too many people at first but as it got closer to 12 a lot more people showed up. I got a single shackburger with 6 pieces of chicken bites, crinkle cut fries, and vanilla custard. Portions were a bit small for the price, but the food was pretty good. The fries were perfectly crispy and salted, custard was delicious, chicken bites were juicy and crispy (but small for the price), and the burger was just a good classic burger. It also helps that the burger looks really aesthetic because of the type of lettuce they use. I'm a pretty big fan of in n out and i would stay they've got better burgers, but shake shack's definitely got a place in my heart now. My friend tried the chicken sandwich and I got to try a bite. It wasn't super special but it was pretty solid; it had a huge piece of chicken on it.

Yelp
Hits the spot when I want a burger. SS burgers are on the greasier side but I'm okay with that. I don't care for any of their specialty favor shakes because they are all sickly sweet but the traditional flavors are nice. The staff here aren't great (each time I've been they look to me on what to do with order issues- I don't know!!) but the manager was very helpful and quickly fixed an issue I had with my order.

Bruce W.

Yelp
I've eaten here a few times. The food is ok but not great. The restaurant itself is typically over crowded and not as clean as I would prefer. Ultimately I don't think it's worth the cost for the combination of ambiance and food. Maybe other locations are better. All things considered, I can't recommend eating here. Would barely recommend take out.

Yelp
Shake Shack (S2) is my go to place for a burger and fries. The burgers are made with quality beef topped with lettuce, tomato, onion and S2's secret sauce. The bun is delicious too similar to a brioche. My least favorite are the crinkled fries. They remind me of the frozen Ora Ida fries. Popeyes has the best fries, I'm always craving with S2's burger. You can place your order in advance via S2's App. It is an easy way to get your food quickly especially during this pandemic. The staff are usually decent. Recently, I pulled up to get my order and was told by an employee that S2 doesn't have curbside service. Odd, the App states that it does offer curbside, so I don't know what the employee meant. I recommend S2 if you are craving a better burger.

Yelp
We ordered burgers and there was a worm in my daughters burger... so disgusting I called the manager but was in able to get ahold of anyone.

Kyle W.

Yelp
Nijae and Josh provided me with great service. After food was ordered, the Uber driver never came and I had to pick up my own delivery order. They understood my frustrations, they listened and made it right. Couldn't recommend this place enough. They turned a horrible experience into a great one.
google avatar

Micole J.

Yelp
I don't care what they're like in person, if they can't be bothered to get a carry out order correct, they stink. You can't exactly ask the server to fix your order once it's been delivered. It's well past time for restaurants to have figured out how to get carry out orders correct, regardless of platform or service.

Yelp
ETA: Someone from corporate reached out to me and gave us a voucher to try another meal. I appreciate that. We have eaten at Shake Shacks all over. When one came to Ann Arbor, I made my kids earn money so we could go for a treat. I love the fact that they have gluten-free buns and during Covid, we made use of their outdoor seating area (complete with foosball table). My kids love their fries so I ordered extra. The food was not good. The fries were cold and hard along with the buns. Everything was left sitting, I ordered ahead but it wasn't ready when we got there which led me to believe they were making it fresh. This lack of freshness didn't come from sitting for 10 minutes. I'm not sure what happened, I think we hit the end of lunch rush. I should have went up and told them, that's on me. So we all ate a few bites and left. It was $34. The soda was fine. So disappointing. Get your Shake Shack fix somewhere else.

Yelp
I'm not a big fan of fast food. Usually. But Shake Shack has won me over, big time. Tried the burger one night last week and was impressed. Meat had good flavor (though it might have been a little less salty), the Shack Sauce complimented it with a creaminess and mildly tanginess. French fries were some of the best I've had in a while, crispy on the outside (they don't sag when you're dipping them in ketchup), soft on the inside. Yesterday we returned and I tried the chicken sandwich. Chicken was very tender, and the breading was crisp and savory. Buttermilk mayo made an ideal topping, rich but subtle in flavor. We washed down our meal with pints of Shack Ale, perfectly good quaffing beer. I've paid more for barburgers and some celebrated diner burgers that didn't measure up to Shack's. Anytime I'm out on Washtenaw running errands, this place will be a temptation.

Yelp
Shake Shack is one of the iconic U.S. burger restaurants - up there with Whataburger, In-N-Out and Five Guys. I don't know what to say about them that hasn't been said before. This location gave us a vanilla shake when we asked for like a strawberry, they gave us the wrong burgers and the wrong fries. They were really busy though, maybe that's why.
google avatar

Zanita W.

Yelp
I really enjoyed my meal here (smoke shack burger, fries, white/black shake with cookies ) but I can't get over the fact that every thing is a la carte and I paid almost $20 for a meal I could get elsewhere for much less. This won't be the type of quick dining place I can go on a random Tuesday afternoon.
google avatar

Lily N.

Yelp
I came during the grand opening and my first thought was how fast the service was, very impressed! I got a single shack burger, fries, and a cookies and cream shake. The burger was soft and tasty, the fries were perfectly crisp, and the shake was of course amazing. What I loved the most was all the floating servers around helping people out. The employees were all super helpful and friendly. There is also a patio option for seating too which is really nice and there are a lot of communal tables which is nice for meeting strangers. 10/10 would come again.

Yelp
I'm so excited about this new location in Ann Arbor! Food is just as amazing as I ever plus there's some items on the menu that are exclusive to Ann Arbor! Highly recommend! But 4 stars just cause the wait was a bit long, I was getting concerned they forgot about me lol. But staff and food is amazing!

Yelp
I honestly think shake shack is my favorite chain fast food restaurant. Their fries and burgers are just so good. Their shakes are also delicious. My favorite burger there is the smoke stack but you could honestly enjoy any of their burgers or even their hot dogs. The only negative about this place is that it is fairly pricey and also that waits can be a bit long since there always a bunch of people so expect that. Other than that, I will be coming here many more times in the future. So happy that it's now in Ann Arbor so I don't need to drive to Detroit to enjoy these burger

Yelp
I'm a big fan of the one in Chicago. This one sucked so bad it made me cry. It was supposed to be my first big meal in public since covid and I could've been happier eating at a McD. The Korean chicken burger is a fucking joke. I don't know if the guy who made the recipe even knows what kimchi is. The chicken patty was soggy, unseasoned and thick cut. It was as thick as a chicken breast. You can't throw gochujung on something and call it Korean. We got 2 chicken burgers, a milkshake and a root beer. Worst 30$ I spent. I realized I posted my previous comment from the wrong profile. Figuring out a way to delete previous comment.

Yelp
I've been back for couple of times after they opened. Last time I went was around October? I noticed the Michigan emblems/logos/knick knacks are gone. The staff are still awesome sauce. Food is still good. I believe improved a little (or my mood was better) than my first experience. Store is still divinely clean.

Yelp
I went to pick up my order at 9:50 pm with a close time of 10:00 pm. When I got there the door was locked. There were also five others waiting for orders. A young lady employee, was so busy talking on her phone she ignored us for awhile, until I went to a different door and got her attention. I explained we were all waiting on orders she said she'd talk to the manager. Anyway, she came back, handed out a few orders, gave me the wrong one. Got her attention, Again, not easily. She came to the door and I told her this isn't my order. She says "Well you said it was"! I said you never asked me. You just handed me a bag that had an S on it. Point being, please don't be rude to paying customers! Managers, speak with employees regarding customer service. Explain that they're not the bad guys! They are paying your salary and their paychecks. I did have a wonderful conversation with a manager about the whole thing, Sam you were the kindest manager I've ever had the pleasure of speaking with. Thank you for your kindness! Let's end with the taste of the shake shack burger and shake shack chicken sandwhich. Both are so goood! The chicken is a moist patty, and quite a decent size. Flavor is amazing. Burger? Omg I think it's the best burger I've ever eaten! Fries with cheese? What more is there to say? Ask for cheese on the side if youll be eating at home. That way they won't get soggy!

Yelp
Have been looking forward to trying this east coast chain for a while. Everything everyone says about parking is true, the lot is very congested and not designed well. I decided to try the shake shack burger, one smoke shack burger which includes bacon and cherry peppers and a side of fries. We shared one large drink and our total price was just under $20, so definitely not cheap. The burger itself is fantastic, the burger has a very rich flavor almost like it was cooked with butter. I have to say compared to elevation burger or five guys, I felt this burger has the richest taste of all three. The fries are not appetizing at all just your standard crinkle cut fries, would skip this the next time. Based on the price and convenience, I am not sure, I will become a regular here, but the burgers are damn good. Edited 12-16-19. Management invited us back with a coupon, this time we focused on the burgers and got an extra patty along with a cookies and cream shake. The burger was spot on and is easily one of the best burgers in town, even better with an extra patty, would get an extra patty over fries. The shake was amazing richer and creamier than most shakes. Although it is very hard not to get a burger here, I would love to try their Portabella mushroom burger or Chicken sandwich.

Yelp
I love the SmokeShack burger with everything on it. The peppers and such give it a little heat, but I don't think it is anything too crazy. Can't go wrong with any of the shakes. I switch between the Cookies and Cream and the Black and White shake. Went an hour out of our way to visit a Shake Shack and you should too!

Yelp
We got the strawberry mint lemonade with a shake burger and a side of fries. The lemonade was super tart and delicious with a nice kick of mint to finish it off. I got a double shake burger and it was incredible, for the speed with which it was made. There were dozens of imperfections, which added to the charm, and really made it seem like a homemade burger. The buns were still slightly connected, the patty wasn't perfectly round. And the crunchy fries were a great bonus. Shake shack has the speed of McDonalds with the flavor and charm of Frita Batidos. Sooo glad it's finally here in Ann Arbor!
