"Coming next week, I'm noting that the New York-based fast-casual burger giant Shake Shack will debut at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 15 at 3030 Washtenaw Ave #107 in its first Ann Arbor outpost. This fourth Michigan location and the chain's first outside metro Detroit occupies a 3,000-square-foot space with an outdoor patio and an interior similar to other Shacks around the state, featuring tables made from reclaimed bowling alley lanes. Shake Shack is known for Angus beef burgers served on Martin’s Potato Rolls, fried chicken sandwiches, grilled hot dogs with crinkle-cut fries, and frozen custard concretes that frequently highlight local products; the Ann Arbor restaurant will offer three location-specific concretes: the Wolverine Dream (vanilla custard with marshmallow sauce, graham crackers, and strawberry puree), the Shack Attack (chocolate custard with fudge sauce, Zingerman’s Bakehouse Black Magic brownies, Mast Brothers chocolate chunks, and chocolate sprinkles), and the Pie Oh My (vanilla custard with Zingerman’s Bakehouse pie). Openings here typically draw long lines, and the restaurant will give free swag to the first 100 people through the door on opening day." - Brenna Houck
