Behold Shake Shack’s New North County Burger Palace - Eater San Diego

"Today marks opening day for Shake Shack’s first North County outpost, the inaugural sit-down restaurant at One Paseo; several other big-name eateries, including Salt & Straw Ice Cream and Tender Greens, with roll out in March, with openings continuing through the summer. Open daily from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., the 2,898-square-foot eatery includes custom murals, tabletops made from reclaimed bowling alley lanes, and booths built with sustainable lumber; this location features a ping-pong table on a spacious wrap-around patio and is the first Shake Shack in San Diego to feature cashless kiosks in addition to its cashier stations. Pro tip: save even more time by using their mobile ordering app. Among the new burgers is the SoCal-exclusive Roadside Double, a double Swiss cheeseburger topped with Dijon mustard and onions simmered in bacon and beer. Frozen custard features in treats ranging from a Cherry Blossom seasonal shake to a Strawberry Sunset concrete made with vanilla custard, strawberry purée, rainbow sprinkles, and sugar cone, which is exclusive for One Paseo. There’s also Modern Times Beer’s Fortunate Islands on tap and other local brews in cans and bottles." - Candice Woo

A Perfect Match for an Upscale Dining Experience Located in the heart of the vibrant One Paseo Plaza, Shake Shack perfectly blends into the chic, upscale environment. The restaurant’s design complements the rest of the plaza with its white walls, red brick accents, and eye-catching wall art. The greenery at the entrance adds a refreshing touch, making the outdoor seating area particularly enjoyable. Dining outside allows you to soak in the lively atmosphere of the plaza, while inside you can catch some sports action on the TVs—I happened to catch an NHL hockey game while there. As a higher-end fast-casual chain, Shake Shack feels right at home in this setting. I tried their seasonal special: the Double Black Truffle Burger ($13.99). The two beef patties, layered with cheese and topped with crispy shallots, were delicious, though I felt they could have been more generous with the truffle sauce. The Parmesan Fries with Truffle ($5.99) were the highlight for me. They came with a generous portion of truffle sauce, which was so good that I saved some to use with other meals later! All in all, a great spot for both food and ambiance, especially if you're a fan of truffle flavors. Highly recommended for a premium burger experience in a beautiful plaza setting.

This is a delicious spot for burgers. The decor is modern yet comfortable. There is a ping pong table on the patio outside. My boys especially love Shake Shack. We haven't tried the chicken yet. I wish they had a grilled chicken option. It's also unfortunate that they eliminated their non-dairy shake options. We ordered on the app this time, which was perfect because our order was ready right when we got to the restaurant. Thanks for helping us get to our next event on-time, Shake Shack.

I’m happy that Shake Shack decided to expand to the west coast. This location is one of the smaller ones in San Diego, but the One Paseo area is nice enough to take your order to go and enjoy outside somewhere. Parking is fine, too, since the parking garage is right behind it. I can’t say enough how good the food is.

The burgers here are spectacular. They're of the smashed variety and with higher fat content. Beefy and juicy. Well-seasoned. High quality buns, lettuce, tomato, good American cheese and a tasty special sauce. You can't do better for the price, IMHO. I'm glad they're not fashionably colossal and stupidly over-stuffed. They're easy to eat, Yay. A single patty with fries are more than enough food to make me completely full. If that's not you, double patties are an option. I had the regular Shack Burger, regular Fries and a specialty drink, the Lime Agave Lemonade. Fries were crispy and tasty but the drink was unpleasantly weird. To mimic a Margarita drink without alcohol they add a lot of salt and a whiff of jalapeno. Totally not something I enjoyed but that's a matter of taste. It really needs Tequila to work. I'll def try their regular lemonade or a milkshake next time. It's a spacious and attractive place set in a very pretty shopping mall called One Paseo. Staff was friendly and efficient though the tables could have been cleaned a little more frequently. There are lots of outdoor seating spaces scattered about One Paseo and Shake Shack has plenty of indoor and outdoor seating within their own establishment. One minor complaint: no posted menu on premises. You need to order from a station or online to see offerings and prices. Slightly precious. Convenient free parking is available in multiple garage buildings. It's a real pleasure to visit and even more so when you savor one of the most delicious burgers anywhere around.

First time to a Shake Shack. Definitely not a shack, high tech to me. Place your order and pay at a terminal go sit down and the food arrives. Good. A bit more expensive than I thought it would be.

Google
Decent quick food. The burger was pretty good but the hotdog was better than the burger. I also ordered a dessert which wasn't good at all. The service was pretty blah at best.

Google
Great new spot for a decent burger and then some. I love the size of their burgers, perfect for me. Fries were good. Try that mango, coco lemonade.. mmm good. Much more affordable than the other upscale burger spots too. Not at all busy as I was I during their soft opening. Love the easy kiosk ordering. App works well too and it’s ready when you arrive.

Google
Food was what is expected from any burger chain. Service was friendly and quick. They brought it out to the table to us, which was nice. The Cherry Blossom Shake, a seasonal option, was really good. The parking garage, restaurant, and surrounding establishments were all really busy. Finding seating was not that difficult.

Yelp
Shake Shack offers a delightful dining experience that earns it a solid 4 stars from me. You have the option of ordering with a cashier or on a POS system. Let's start with the food - delicious. Their burgers are juicy, the fries crispy, and the shakes are downright addictive. The quality of ingredients shines through in every bite, making it a go-to spot for a satisfying meal. Downside is that their food is fairly expensive, kind of crazy to make a $13 burger. I came when it wasn't busy but they had an abundant of staff standing around but ready at any moment to make an order. As for ambiance, Shake Shack strikes the right balance between casual and inviting. The vibrant atmosphere is perfect for grabbing a quick bite with friends or enjoying a laid-back meal with family. This Shake Shack is apart of a small fancy shopping mall so it's perfect for before or after looking around. My favorite has to be the Shroom in the Shack Stack which is the only reason I'd keep coming back. It's so unique and I'm not sure wherever else you can get it. I just always have to convince myself to spend so much on said burger.

Yelp
I recently visited Shake Shack in Del Mar and was extremely disappointed with the service. After placing an order for my family, they delivered it to our table and after they walked away I noticed they had forgotten my daughter's burger, a single Shack Burger with avocado. When the guy came back to deliver my sister's family order, I informed him about the missing burger. He asked which one and then proceeded to touch my burger that was still on the tray, opening it up to check if it was the missing one with avocado. When I asked why he was touching my burger, he responded that it was their procedure to inspect all the burgers. He could have easily asked me to open it instead of putting his hands on my food...gross! Also, it's clear the orders weren't inspected because my sister was also missing a burger from her order. Ten minutes later, we still had not received the missing burger, and when I checked, they insisted they had already brought it, which they had not. Maybe they thought it was the burger delivered that was for my sister's order? After telling them I was still missing the burger, the two employees involved came to our table to verify, making me feel as if they didn't believe me. Eventually, a lady behind the counter who seemed to be the manager noticed what was going on and asked what was missing. She assured me it would be made right away. When the other two employees returned, I overheard her say that sometimes they should choose their battles. What?! I was just trying to claim my daughter's missing burger and now I'm feeling like the bad guy! Spending $75 at a fast food place is already too steep, but the poor customer service made the experience even worse. It felt like they thought I was trying to get a free burger, which was insulting. We often eat at various Shake Shack locations, but clearly, customer satisfaction is not a priority at this one.

Yelp
Shake Shack is my favorite burger place. Yes, I know there are tons of burger options ranging from mom & pop burger shops to gourmet burgers at steak restaurants. But I just love the soft potato rolls, (usually) perfectly well done meat patties, and the creamy shack sauce. I had avoided crinkle cut fries ever since the horrendously dry ones I was forced to consume in elementary school, but Shake Shack has won me over to crinkle cut fries with their perfectly salted and crisp version. One time I treated myself to crinkle cut fries with cheese and bacon, and boy that is a food memory that still immediately elicits saliva in my mouth every time I think about it. Ordering via website or app is generally easy. Trying to find parking for order pickup is a disaster if you are trying to come around dinner time, so I have to wind my way up to the top floor of the parking structure frequently since circling around on the 1st and 2nd floors are often a waste of time. The one flaw was already mentioned by another reviewer & is the only thing preventing me from giving 5 stars. The lettuce is awful. Completely wilted, as if after spending money on all the ingredients to construct an amazing burger, Shake Shack decided to save a few bucks by purchasing lettuce that is a month old. This happens in every burger I order. PLEASE investigate either your lettuce vendor or how you are storing the lettuce.

Yelp
Was super excited to eat here after a long break (4 years). Was walking by and saw this sign advertising some new menu items. We all decided to order one of the new burgers - I went with the Carolina and my son and BF went with the smoky classic. When we received our burgers we were disappointed that it only came with one patty. The picture out front as well as on the wall inside the restaurant showed a double patty. We felt duped - totally misleading. We all left hungry and ended up going to In and Out for the double double.

Yelp
Perfect quick meal after a nice day at the beach :) I like how i was able to order through the self checkout. Didn't have to wait too long for my food which was perfect.

Yelp
Another review for another great SS! This review pretty much covers every shake shack in San Diego County. THE BURGERS ARE AMAZING! After trying SS in Mission Valley and in La Costa and now her in Del Mar, I am still a huge fan and enjoy each bite just as much as the first time eating here! Best burgers for the price. The buns are soft, beef is flavorful, grilled just right, easy menu, no frills and nothing bad here. I will go ahead and see if I can find more to try, to compare. For scientific research, of course. LOL I am hungry now after writing this.

Yelp
What a yummy lunch we had here! I had the Smoke Shack with Spicy Fries and ranch. The fries are the best I've had in a long time! I think I will try a different fry each time I visit. The fries were light, crispy and delicious especially with the spice sprinkled on top. I found the SmokeShack burger to be flavorful. I don't know if the flavor was mixed in the burger itself or the condiments in the burger. I scarfed it down and realized I didn't study it more. I could've probably ate another one. I also ordered a vanilla custard which was a perfect treat to end lunch. The staff from the get go were all helpful and friendly. I found out later that the person walking table to table asking how was everything, was the manager. Prior to knowing whom the manager was we had a problem with our drink order and an employee brought it to the managers attention and the manager quickly rectified the problem without question. The business itself was very clean. There was always a staff member clearing the table and sweeping up anything on floor. It was quite busy just after we walked in. There is a good number of seating inside. This is located in the One Paseo Market area, and in the area they offer communal outdoor seating not too far from Shake Shack. My husband and I were impressed with everything. We will be returning customers.

Yelp
I was so sad to see the state that my burger was given to me. The lettuce was soggy and limped, literally brown almost black. The burger was also barely warm. The size of the shackburger was also tiny. It was basically a size of a slider. For $7 a burger, I expected more. The workers also weren't really friendly, they were even intimidating. I use to love shake shack and would reason their high prices because of the quality but as you can see there's no more quality just high prices.

Yelp
1/24/24 around 6pm Came in right before the dinner rush to redeem the generous T-Mobile Tuesday deal. Basically, Free ShackBurger with any purchase (above $1). The only "taxing part" is you have to download the Shake Shack app and order for online pick up. It was a very seamless process. Ample seating options. Only comment is that some of staff are very loud and enunciate the name for pick up, while others do not. Time to delivery was very prompt, and the food was delicious. It also shows up in your app when your order is ready. Odd thing about their app: I guess someone didn't mark my order as picked up so it kept showing my order was still in progress/ready for pick up, and wouldn't let me place another order...weirdest thing! I ordered just regular crinkle cut fries (perfectly crispy and salted) + shackburger (Juicy, a little greasy but super tasty) without the tomatoes. I specified that I wanted a side of shack sauce in my order and it didn't have that in the bag but it did have ketchup. So, it shows how much they truly pay attention to the sides that you request.

Yelp
August Stop 27 This place was solid. It is what you expect from Shake Shack. Very quality burgers and fries, but somewhat small and pricy. Regardless, the quality does make these burgers worth it. We didn't get a shake this time, but those always hit hard on a hot day too. The inside is quite big with outdoor seating in this bougie shopping center. The workers are also very helpful and friendly!

Mathew C.

Yelp
Had wait in line for 20 mins since all the registers weren't working just to find out that they're out of half the items that we wanted to order super frustrating ended up going to a different restaurant.
google avatar

Yelp
I love shack shack, but my wallet doesn't. The burgers and fries are bomb, but it's just so pricey compared to in-n-out. My favorite part of the burgers are the buns are closed on the bottom, so the sauces don't leak out. Wish more places would do that. I enjoy their limited edition burgers like the hot one's and the truffle burger. So good. Great location and easy parking. I only come here on special occassions. Love shack shack, love to come back. In N Out is still better though, when you factor in the price. If they cost the same, I'll choose Shake shack allday.
google avatar

Min Young L.

Yelp
You can't review Shake Shack without considering In-N-Out. Everything is relative but it doesn't have to be this or that. Each serves a special need at a special time. And when time is of the essence then convenience is essential. And you can't beat Shake for a relatively quick bite. One Paseo's parking can be tricky. But it's nothing to the mental preparation needed to muster up the steel of patience waiting in line of a convoy of cars snaking around In-N-Out's drive thru. The sheer convenience and accessibility of ordering through their touch-screen platform makes the process swift and simple -- the very meaning of fast food. Shake's East-Coast diner-style burgers is different from the classic In-N-Out variation, but the savory flavors are reminiscent of smash-burger-cooked patties. Meanwhile the crinkle-cut fries have a crunchy surface and texture that differs from In-N-Out's standard cuts (which I enjoy in themselves). You can customize certain items at Shake, but perhaps developing off-menu items like In-N-Out's Animal Style would popularize Shake's range of dishes.

Yelp
Why did you closed/blocked the seats near the plugs?no available seats inside, but lot of them are blocked, need to wait if you want to eat inside
google avatar

Angelina C.

Yelp
Food was amazing! A little pricey for the portion size, but all the ingredients were incredibly high quality. It was a quite busy when I went (around lunch time), but the service was wonderful and the tables were clean. Would definitely recommend to try!
google avatar

Yelp
Ok Shake Shack....you SKIMPED OUT on the truffle and onion rings hardcore! I was so excited to see the truffle burger back on the menu - in the past there was way more. Not worth the significant up-charge, I feel so short changed...was also never notified via text that my order was ready so it was cold.
google avatar

Pam B.

Yelp
Small portions - burgers were very small, and if you add on a double patty it's literally almost double the burger price. High prices - everything is at least a $2 add on, so expect to pay around $11 per basic burger. Really great flavors - flavors were great and perfectly cooked. Ample seating - was able to easily get a table for 8 on a Saturday for dinner Nice friendly service - everyone at the counter was amazing. Super friendly, quick to service.
google avatar

Courtney C.

Yelp
In n out loyalist here! I wasn't sure if I'd be wasting my time coming to Shake Shack because lets be real - what's better than an animal style cheeseburger? I was VERY surprised everything was actually very tasty! The ordering system is fairly robust (traditional and ordering on a tablet). I enjoyed the option of being able to choose between chicken and beef - we ordered one of each so we could try both. The cheeseburger was good, but surprisingly small! The fried chicken is actually what did it for me. Also not typically a fan of crinkle cut fries, but they were much crispier than they look in photos! I'm still team in n out, but Shake Shack is a great option when there aren't any others. Next up, to try the shakes!

Pat R.

Yelp
Food is standard but they are sooooooo slow even when not busy. A lot of standing around and aloofness.
google avatar

Yelp
I mean I have loved shake shack since I lived in NY but now my fondness has grown. My daughter has a milk allergy which means I can't have dairy while breastfeeding so I have to really check everything I eat to make sure no dairy (that means cheese, milk and butter). I was relieved to see they actually have an allergen menu online and when I ordered my meal I was even able to flag my items as dairy free so they could be sure no cross contamination. Bravo, shake shack! Having a delicious meal and peace of mind - now that is 5 star service! Will look forward to returning next time we are down in SD and great knowing that they can accommodate and still have something yummy. This location is my favorite because they have easy covered parking in a garage and are next to other cute shops and restaurants. They have high chairs available for the little man and plenty of outdoor seating with umbrellas.

Yelp
Delicious! I love the chicken sandwich!! I love ordering on the kiosk and getting my order quickly. The shopping / dining area is so cute. Outdoor & relaxing.

Yelp
Went the extra mile! Had a gift card that showed a balance but the register would not allow the transaction to go trough. A manager looked at the gift card and immediately knew the probem and we completed the transaction.
google avatar

Ramya M.

Yelp
I don't get the hype guys! We were here for dinner on a week night and got the Shroom Burger, Fries and the Pomegranate Yuzu Lemonade. The Fries were great as always! And the Pomegranate Yuzu Lemonade was delicious! But the burger, not a fan at al!! I found it flavorless. The cheese melt and the mushroom combo just didn't do it for me. I may get the fries and drinks if I am at One Paseo but I don't see myself picking Shake Shack over other places for lunch or dinner.
google avatar

Holly S.

Yelp
It's Shake Shack in all its glory. Excellent service, brilliant shakes and a melt in your mouth burger. We never have bad service here. The booths are comfortable and the wait is reasonable since it is made to order.
google avatar

Brandon P.

Yelp
By far one of the best burgers in the "fast food" world, if you want to call it that. I came in on a Thursday night near closing and ordered on the side mobile stations. My food came quick and hot. The hot-honey fries are to die for especially with the HABANERO Mayo (gives you a KICK). That habanero Mayo really hit. The spicy, sweet fries with the hot sauce goes well. My burger was a double stacked with avocado and grilled onions added. My burger was cooked perfect medium rare+. The onions were so caramelized they were almost a jam and the cheese was melted just right on the burger. One of the best burgers I've ever had. Their Aoili sauce goes wel with the burger as well. Call it fast food or not, doesn't matter. Shake Shack is LEGIT!
google avatar

Yelp
If you're looking for a burger joint with an East Coast twist, Shake Shack is the place for you. As a big fan of In-N-Out, I was pleasantly surprised to find room in my heart (and stomach) for both. What's great about this location is that it fills a burger-shaped void in Carmel Valley - the nearest In-N-Out is a trek to Carmel Mountain or Mira Mesa. So if you're looking for a quick burger fix, Shake Shack is the perfect solution. I've been a fan of Shake Shack since my first bite in NYC back in 2014, and my go-to order is the classic Shack burger with pickles added. But the real star of the show here is the potato bun - it's so soft and fluffy, it practically melts in your mouth. And don't even get me started on the cheese fries - they're next level. My only complaint is the price - I think it could be a couple dollars cheaper given the quality of the product. The location itself is great too, with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating available. Plus, they have games like ping pong outside, which makes for a fun dining experience. Overall, Shake Shack is definitely worth checking out if you're in the mood for a tasty burger and fries.

John W.

Yelp
Shake shack is good but strange that you have to tip here on the card reader . In-n-out is no tip there . Location is good here too

Yelp
Service is great, always friendly. Love their fries and a new lover of the shroom burger. I just wish their burgers were the tiniest bit bigger

Mj S.

Yelp
Ridiculously horrible service. Standing at counter with SEVEN workers doing nothing. No one could be bothered to take my order. HARD PASS.

R T.

Yelp
I really like writing good reviews....but The burgers are more like sliders. The worst service is when a business is slow. The establishment had 9 workers. I ordered 3 burgers, 2 fries and 2 adult drinks. I had to get up and ask for my drinks. They said "we're going to serve them with my food." (It's slow, why wait? Serve the drinks and maybe you might get a second order of drinks ). The brain dead server delivers food. No condiments, didn't even ask if we needed it. I had to get up again to ask for condiments. Water? Had to get up and ask for 2 cups. Wrong wine, I had to get up again and request the correct one. Everything is self serve, no problem but they NOTHING AVAIL ON MY SIDE OF THE COUNTER. All behind counter by request. On top of all that they want a tip, for what? How about when two orders of fries come Out, you add ketchup onto the tray? Oh because they have to ask "How many ketchups?" I waited 3 years to finally eat at Shake Shak and what a huge disappointment. ONE AND DONE. $55 w/ $3 custom tip. Never again. They had the option of 25% tip, Wth?

Yelp
Amazing shakes, thick delicious and have rotating flavors. The crinkle fries ensure you never get an undercooked bit, always have a good crunch on them. My husband got the single shack burger and said next time he might get the double (more room for fries in my opinion). I had the 'shroom burger and honestly I was pleasantly surprised on how delicious it was. When going to a burger spot as a vegetarian my expectations are always low but this was a fun take on a portobello burger great crunch and the cheese made it decadent. I'll be adding this spot to the rotation at the very least for the seasonal shakes!

Yelp
It's been awhile since I ate at Shake Shack, initial visit was in NYC many years ago. When they opened one in Del Mar I went last week with my niece and nephew and ordered: Shack burgers French fries Cookies and cream shake Black and white shake The quality of the food is impressive. The meat patties fresh and flavorful and the softness of the fluffy brioche buns takes it home. The French fries Eden when it turned cold was delicious. I don't know what they do with their food, outstanding flavor that makes you want more. The Del Mar location at 1 Paseo is organized especially with C-19 regulations. There was a long line when we arrived thou we used their handy app to order everything and you can pick up or have them drop off at your car. I am dreaming of my next visit. Thank you team SHake Shack! Your food is a dream to my stomach.

Christian R.

Yelp
The food is impressive. the price is not. it's a pricy bite but will soothe your taste buds. and don't get me started on the shakes. they are amazing. and there are something about the fries that make me want more. if you want a good burger and have money to spend, check it out.

Yelp
Shake Shack is hard to beat! Always clean, delicious, affordable and reliable and this location is no exception. Love the ambiance inside, but outside is especially nice. I always get the Shack Burger and my husband gets the Double Shack Burger with bacon, and we share the cheese fries. The portions are just right, and so are the prices. A bit more than typical "fast food" but it's all fresh and the staff are always friendly and helpful.

Yelp
Came here after a beach day around dinner time. When my friends and I got there, we were greeted by the cashier and he offered to help us if we had a any questions. This place definitely got busy right after we arrived and the dinner rush quickly picked up. I would recommend ordering from their kiosks; it's just faster and convenient and we didn't have a problem customizing our food. The wait for our food wasn't bad either. I ordered the shack burger with spicy peppers (add on) and a side of bacon cheese fries which were both pretty good. although nothing special, I was really hungry from the beach and this was definitely satiating. No problems here. I will say that some of the tables were kinda gross because the previous parties may not have cleaned up so just be aware of where you sit. Otherwise, this was a good dinner and I will return for sure

Yelp
If you're craving a smooth, simple not over-the-top burger with delicious grilled meat taste, shake shack is the way to go! To be honest, this is one of the best simple burgers--when you don't quite feel like adding all the different add-ons other places offer--and wish to not struggle to take a bite out of the burger. The taste is always the same, always a hit! Fries are super tasty as well, served fresh every time. Though I've not tried other flavors of their shake selection (given this is their staple-shakes), I can attest to the fact that the black white shake is phenomenal! It's repeatedly served at just the right level of thickness. Such a tasty burger with fries and shake for a little outing.

Yelp
Food was great. Expensive though. $60 for me my 12 year old and 10 year old . We just ordered burgers and a fry, added a shake. Shake was amazing

Yelp
My favorite cheeseburger that still exists. What does that mean? Well, i'm not really sure what it is maybe it's The way that beef is raised these days l, or the fat content, or the fact that they need to cook the meat closer to well done these days, or maybe just old fashion nostalgia, but it's hard to find burgers that taste as good as when I was growing up in the 1970s. SS comes as close is anyone to bringing back that classic taste that burger seem to use do you have, by a perfect combination of the meat, cheese, bun and a little kick from the shack sauce...itreally is close to the perfect burger as I can find. The other things are fine the fries specially with the cheese are very good in the shakes are certainly very decent but not my favorites in those two categories but when you put all three together, definitely the package adds up to a five-star meal.

Yelp
3.5 Quality wise - 5/5: there's more care than most fast food joints. Buns are the top buns of any takeout. Taste - 3/5: the burgers are really good, but the Korean chicken sandwich was just okay. The breast was a little rubbery and the breading fell off as I ate it. The fries are def top notch. Service - 5/5: took 7 minutes from placing our order online to picking up. We currently live in the apartments next door so it's a quick easy dinner. You could probably order browsing the strip mall and then cruise by with ease. Price - 4/5: portions are a little skimpy for what you're paying for, but quality overrides it. Overall - good spot for a quick meal.

Yelp
It is hard to write a mediocre review for Shake Shack. The burgers are typically on point. This is for their new Hot Ones burger and fries. I am a big fan of Hot Ones and love spicy food. I saw the trailer for the Shake Shack Hot Ones burger and was eager to try it. VERY DISSAPOINTING. The taste is just ok. It was a bit too "thousand islandy". The quality is Shake Shack but it really did not have any kick to it. I was expecting to have my eyes tearing at the very least! Expensive too. Stick with the original burger here and you will be fine.

Yelp
Burgers are too small for the price. You need to order 2 to get filled up, but then that'll break your pockets

Yelp
The food is absolutely amazing, the cashier is kind and the place is very clean. You gotta get the cheese fries.

Yelp
I don't usually eat shake shack, but I decided to try it as a treat for myself. Unfortunately, the meal did not meet my expectations and I instantly regretted my decision. Not only was the burger small, but the bun was soggy and there was hardly any lettuce. Also, there was a hard fragment in the patty. Not sure if it was a bone or not, but it definitely was not pleasant... Also, when I had ordered, I had requested more shake shack sauce and, unfortunately did not get it. I think it might be a while till I go back....

Yelp
I would've preferred to send a private email to inform management, but being that you do not provide that information people are forced to leave their experiences to the public on yelp. I was pretty disgusted as I watched all the employees clean up dirty tables, dirty dishes with the same gloves on as they went to serve people food and have their fingers inside the cups as they went to hand it to customers and I even watched them get their own personal drinks.... They did everything with the same dirty gloves on. The whole point of gloves was completely missed and it's clear management did not educate the employees on how to use gloves properly.

Yelp
After years of debating, I finally decided to try out this place with my friend. She lives relatively close to the One Paseo Plaza and with social distancing and all things COVID, we decided that we could take out and enjoy some burgers. Shake Shack made it extremely easy to place our order online or in person and by the time we got there, our order was ready for pick up. I must applaud their app because it was extremely user friendly and allowed for unless customizations! I got the Shack Burger with fries with cheese on the side!! Now, I know Shake Shack has been unfairly compared to In N Out, however I feel like they should be compared to burgers in their price range. When comparing burgers in their price range, this is a superb burger! It is well cooked, juicy, flavorful, and very enjoyable. Their fries are crinkle cut, which isn't my favorite cut of fry, but it does have a great crisp to potato ratio. The winner of the entire meal is the cheese sauce, I don't know what cheeses they use, but if you're not getting the cheese to dip your fries in.. you're missing out. All in all, after my first time trying out Shake Shack a couple months ago, I have been back a few times since and every time they have been prompt with getting my order out and their food was consistent in quality. Until next time, Shake Shack!

Yelp
I've been to shake shack in New York...never been to a California location. This was my first west coast shake shack experience. I had my UBER eats credit that I had to use and I didn't want to cook...so decided to order a bunch of food from SS. I opted for pick up to save a bit of $$ and it's super close. I looked for a parking area for pickup...found a spot in the garage. I called the location and asked if I was supposed to come in and pick up or if they came outside. They said that for uber eats you normally come inside but they offered to bring me my food. A+ for extra service! - cheeseburger, no sauce, all veggies. solid burger ...would 100% order again -extra spicy chicken nuggets...OMG they were actually spicy! I love heat but I think I would have been fine with regular spicy. will have to try that next time -extra spicy cheese fries...yum!! the cheese came on the side ...great for dipping. great experience...I imagine I'll revisit really soon

Yelp
Our family of four came here while on vacation based on a recommendation by our cousin who has lived in the area for over five years. Our first visit was at another location where we only dropped by for snacks and the bathroom. After sharing a burger and two basket of fries as a snack we were hooked and decided to eat a full meal at Shake Shack as soon as we could. My 11 year old daughter ordered a burger with cherry peppers added. She likes spicy and the closest they had to spicy were cherry pepper which were not really spicy. My wife thought it was more on the sweet side. My 7 year old son ordered a double bacon cheeseburger. My wife and I both ordered a Shack burger. We also got 2 orders of French fries. My wife, son and I got Coke Zero and my daughter got a Strawberry lemonade. Our whole family agreed that the burgers were some of the best we ever had and that we would eat a lot more burgers (not a good thing) if this restaurant was in Virginia. The fries are also really good as well as the beverages. If we are ever back in the area, we will definitely visit one of their many locations at least once if not more times. All in all, over the course of a week, we visited a Shake Shack three times. Update: after getting home from vacation, we just found out that a Shake Shack just opened near our home. We are in trouble if it's as good as the ones we had in southern CA! We will write another review of our local Shake Shack once the hype and lines dies down a little.

Yelp
Stopped here while driving from San Diego to Riverside County for a quick lunch. I've been to many Shake Shacks, and I really love it! The service was good here, and the staff was very flexible about a few substitutions and additions to my burger. I also got my food quickly. For me, the meat in the burgers is my favorite part, as it's super juicy and flavorful. Plus I like that I can replace the American cheese with cheddar. And I love some frozen custard for dessert!

Yelp
This review is for food only. The cashier who helped us was super helpful and took the time to tell us about the menu since it was our first time. The space was clean with ample seating inside and out. Parking is a little confusing. We've been exploring burger joints this summer and this one scored very low for us. They were small, more like large sliders. The patties were forgettable, and the general impression of the whole burger was mushy. Fries were great, but you can't go wrong with krinkle fries. Kids ordered shakes, and they couldnt finish them. Way too sweet. Maybe we ordered all of the wrong things, but this was a big miss.

Yelp
Dirty men restroom. Trash there needs to be emptied more often. Ordering machine kiosk needs a wipe down. Doesn't look like they wipe it down the whole day. Tables need to be clean and wipe down. Trash on floor. Such a dirty place ever time.
