"I visited the new Shake Shack at One Paseo on opening day — the chain’s first North County sit-down restaurant and the inaugural sit-down at One Paseo. Open daily from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., the 2,898-square-foot eatery includes custom murals, tabletops made from reclaimed bowling alley lanes, booths built with sustainable lumber, and a spacious wrap-around patio with a ping-pong table; this location is also the first Shake Shack in San Diego to feature cashless kiosks in addition to cashier stations (pro tip: save time by using their mobile ordering app). Among the new menu items is the SoCal-exclusive Roadside Double, a double Swiss cheeseburger topped with Dijon mustard and onions simmered in bacon and beer, and frozen custard appears in treats ranging from a Cherry Blossom seasonal shake to a One Paseo–exclusive Strawberry Sunset concrete made with vanilla custard, strawberry purée, rainbow sprinkles, and a sugar cone. They also offer Modern Times Beer’s Fortunate Islands on tap and other local brews in cans and bottles. Shake Shack San Diego Area Director Carl McClure told Eater the market has exceeded expectations, and there’s a Little Italy branch opening next month at the corner of India and Grape with additional openings planned through the summer." - Candice Woo
