"Another Shake Shack is opening at the National Air and Space Museum’s Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center (14390 Air and Space Museum Parkway, Chantilly) near Dulles airport. It’ll be the chain’s closest location to Loudoun County." - Stephanie Carter

So expensive, one chicken sandwich, one smoked burger, one tea, one milkshake, and one fries was $42. Expensive like a fancy restaurant. Definitely not worth it. They were friendly so the pay must be great. Everything was average definitely better choices out there but this is the only food choice in the museum.

Google
Shake Shack food is always good. Plenty of options here for food and drinks. They have 2 exclusives..the Constellation Crunch Concrete and Out of This World Shake. Very clean and the staff was very friendly. You'll be at the Air & Space Museum for a while, might as well take a break get a snack or something to eat.

Google
Tasty burgers, quick service, and clean place. The prices are a little high, but I don't mind as long as the food is good (the avocado bacon chicken was really good).Polite staff and great to stop for a bite while visiting this amazing museum.

So me and my friends wanted to enjoy a nice meal at shake shack, we were visiting from TN and had recently just had a exhausting walk around the museum. When me and my friends sat out front the store we were greeted by a very not so nice man named Howard. This Howard friend is the one who opened the door for me and my friends and proceeded to yell at me for calling out a couple of my other friends when they prematurely went into the federal establishment through the exit. Our very not nice friend proceeded to not only yell at me but also not do anything about the people cutting in line.

Google
Two and a half stars is about right. They weren't very busy when we walked in. But still took 4-5 for each person to make their order. Menu is nondescript. For a "shake shack", they didn't have many shakes. The prices looked fair, until I got the food. The crinkle cut fries were a normal size, but the burger and chicken nuggets were kid size. Most tater tots are bigger than these nuggets. The food tasted okay. The shake was plain and meh. It was convenient to have at the museum because we were all hungry. It would be an acceptable alternative to having to go somewhere else if you're using mass transit, but if I had a vehicle, I would go elsewhere.

Google
Come here for food that is out of this world 😂. Super consistent and they have some unique special items in the partnership with the museum. The milk shake is really good lots of little crunchy bits in there. Fries are excellent, stick to crinkle cut. The smoke shack was great with the chopped peppers. Will always stop by here if I’m at the museum. It can be busy during peak hours during the summer but it was practically empty when I was here in the winter.

We received the selected food quickly, and the staff was helpful. The prices are American :) Everything was very delicious. > Dbl Smoke Hamburger > Cheese Fries > BLK&WHT Shake

Google
It's a good option if you don't want to pack your own lunch... however, our order somehow got overlooked. It wasn't a big order, but with all the hustle and bustle others who ordered long after us were getting theirs well before ours. Finally, after inquiring about our order, they filled it. Some of it must have been sitting for a while because it was very dried out. The wait for the food was 20+ minutes for 1 burger + 1 hotdog + 1 chicken sandwich. I would suggest packing your own lunch to avoid the confusion and disappointment

Mike R.

Yelp
First off extremely nice employees. This company hires well. When at "home away from home," I can't help but get hungry at the Udvar Hazy Museum. It's so fun to geek out with aviation and space exhibits. This is an improvement over, the McDonald's that used to be here. Definitely better options. The whole restaurant is clean. As for the food it works. Their burgers aren't particularly exciting, but they provide the calories necessary to explore more. The fries aren't particularly exciting delicious. As for the shakes they are average, and this isn't a cheap place. Due to that I'll give it an average rating.

Frank Y.

Yelp
Do yourself a favor and go straight for the self serve sandwich options and not shake shack when you come to the museum. We came on a not too busy day and lines were still long throughout the afternoon. We ordered a shake for my daughter using one of the self serve kiosks but waited 20 minutes. Way too long for fast casual, and no communication or estimates while waiting , just your name on a board when it comes out

Jen M.

Yelp
So happy to see Shake Shack at the museum and boy was it good!!! They can get busy and be prepared for a good 10 minute wait but so worth the wait. Yum

Judah P.

Yelp
The strawberry lemonade I got was so good! They were slow! The place was crowded! We were in a rush and our lemonades were just sitting there and finally someone gave them to us! Overall, ehhhhh not worth the wait!

Christine N.

Yelp
It was a pleasant surprised to see a shake shack in the air and space museum in VA. I haven't had it in so long, there's definitely a feeling of nostalgia. I got my ultimate favorite with the shake stack with the meat patty and fried portobello mushroom with Muenster cheese. It definitely has shrunken in size. But, everything was good as I remember it.

Adam K.

Yelp
It's the best dining at the Air and Space Museum. It's also the only dining option (unless you count popcorn and similar concessions for the Imax theater, which I don't), so take that as you will. Seeing as it's the only food for your visit, be prepared for a long line around lunch hours. Best plan is to eat early or late to avoid the crowds. To the staff's credit, they took orders as quick as humanly possible and were busting their butts to get the food out to us. Considering the huge crowd, I'm amazed that they got us our food in only 10 minutes of waiting. It's Shake Shack - it's fast food and you're not going to be blown away by anything, but it will fill you up and some of it's decent enough. My Shroom Burger was okay, not bad. My son liked his Shack Burger with bacon and devoured the whole thing. The crinkle cut fries were a favorite at the whole table; I should've ordered more! Unique to the museum location is the Out of this World Shake and the Constellation Concrete Sundae. Both are good, but whatever filler was in the shake did get stuck in the straw a lot, so be ready to pop the lid and just sip. The Concrete Sundae had big chunks of crunchy candy bits. I'm partial to a milkshake, but both will satisfy a sweet tooth. Prices are what you'd expect for having a monopoly on the food in a museum in Northern Virginia, so be prepared to shell out some cash. But at the end of the day, it's not too bad.

Ashley J.

Yelp
The food would have been okay bad it not been for the LITERAL FINGERNAIL WITH SKIN AND BLOOD on the floor in the check-out line. There was also ketchup ALL OVER THE PLACE. LIKE, it couldn't get any worse.

Brittany T.

Yelp
Just what I was craving after walking around the museum. Food was super hot and delicious. Very generous with the cheese sauce on the fries. We got burgers, cheese fries and shakes and they were all fantastic. Hit the spot. You'll definitely spend a pretty penny but it was very satisfying

G. R.

Yelp
Really unimpressive. My pickup order was three hamburgers, two fries, one "cheesy" fries, no drinks. After a fifteen-minute wait, I finally got my order and went home. My hamburger (without the toppings I ordered) was reduced to a smashed mess in the bottom of the bag, to the point it was hard to separate the hamburger from the wrapper. The other hamburger also had the wrong toppings. I managed to salvage the paddy itself from the wreckage, but this was hardly worth it and I won't be back. Total for three burgers, three fries? $38.00. I don't think so. I never thought in my life I'd say, "We should go to McDonald's instead," but the high cost and lousy product at Shake Shack makes McFood look really good.

Bill P.

Yelp
The place was crowded, food was only okay, service was slow and rude, but overall the worst thing there had to of been the lame bald guy running around and correcting his customers. My acquaintances and I were quietly playing a game at our table before he came and told us to shut it down. Then he went over to another person we knew and forced him to correct his posture. Shake Shack, your employees are miserable and rude and it doesn't take an expert to see the issues with this manager. Today you have lost several customers.

Kimberly J.

Yelp
Yum! Located inside Steven F Udvar-Hazy Center, it was lunch time and here we are. The cashier was helpful and quick. Our order was ready in no time. There is plenty of seating inside and it is quite spacious in here. Prices are slightly higher at this location. This really is the only eatery in the museum. They do offer sandwiches, salads, fruits, yogurt, and other quick picks towards the back of Shake Shack. Employees do a wonderful job keeping this place clean. Shake Shack burgers are always delicious. Not overly heavy or greasy. The flavors are all there and it isn't overly salty. Their shakes are delicious. Super creamy and flavorful. Not overly sweet or artificial tasting. Quality ingredients are used and you can taste the difference. The kiddos (and adults) really enjoy Shake Shack!

Alessio F.

Yelp
The food was okay, it was not worth 24 bucks for a small burger, fries, and a shake. The employee working the counter was very rude and short with customers.

Judy N.

Yelp
Fast food just got a little gourmet with this new Shake Shack inside the Dulles Air & Space Museum. Yes, I do miss McDonalds. But how can I say no to Shack Shack's classic hot dog that is made with 100% beef, firm, and I get the perfect snap every time I bite into it? Add some cheese on top and I am golden. It doesn't get better than that. The food here reminds me of Shack Shack. What's nice about this location is the vast space. There is plenty of seating and of course, the gorgeous surroundings and atmosphere of the museum. Now the prices are higher but they are inside a Smithsonian museum. The shack burger and shack stack were flavorful and juicy. This location had a unique dessert called the Constellation Crunch Concrete with a space theme. I was so love with it. It was chocolatey, crunchy, colorful, and creamy. We came during the Dulles Air and Scare event so it was crowded. Service was quick and friendly. This place is a nice addition to the museum.

Roy A.

Yelp
What's not to like about a clean Shake Shack at a Smithsonian. Long line went quickly and order was prepared quickly. Burgers were delicious. Great place to eat when visiting.

Austin G.

Yelp
I don't get the hype...until visiting this location inside the Udvar-Hazy Center. Here's why; 1) Service: From the moment we walked up the register, a very kind woman greeted us. She asked us our names and appropriately used them throughout ordering. My five-year-old daughter thought she was so kind that she gave her a little art piece she made and wrapped the night previous. As we dined, several staff came up to us to help us clear our table and were so kind. 2) Space: It's massive with plenty of tables to sit at. We were told the seating capacity is 500, making it the largest Shake Shack in the country. 3) Food: The menu includes burgers, a chicken sandwich, nuggets, three kinds of fries, shakes (including two developed only for this location that are space themed). My daughter loved the hot dog, cheese fries and I loved the SmokeShack burger. (It's a little small, but tasty.) 4) Drinks: They have fountain drinks, water, Honest Kids, bottled soda, etc. If you get the fountain drink, get the small cup since you get refill it as many times as you want while there. (You can't bring food or drinks into the museum.)

Yelp
Pluses: Chocolate shake****, chicken nuggets, shroom burger****, crispy fries, honey mustard sauce, staff (e.g. Lisa R) looked hard working. Opportunities to take this operation up a notch: Lack of signage indicating back area seating was closed so staff had to tell me, line could be shorter (went out the door and to beginning of hallway at 11AM; came back at 2:30 PM, much shorter line...

Iam S.

Yelp
The food was below average and overpriced. Go to Wendy's instead. At least you'll save money.

Juan L.

Yelp
$12+ cheeseburger????? Yes, that's all I ordered but took me 3-4 times to explain it to the customer service rep. She was not interested in taking my order or working that day. I also lost interest as she had more nose rings than i could couldn't. Disgusting that she had one on her top gums inside her mouth. Definitely lost my appetite then and there. They called my name and I went to get my $12+ cheeseburger. The smell of the rep prepping orders, wow!!! While eating my $12 cheeseburger, I noticed another employee cleaning a table with a dirty napkin. No spray bottle, wet rag; just using a dirty napkin tying to clean up ketchup and other stains. YUK, YUK, YUK!!!

Tiffany N.

Yelp
This Shake Shack is really nice! It's super convenient to have one nearby now, since it's located at the Air & Space Museum. I took some friends to go with their son, and they absolutely were delighted to find out that Shake Shack was there too. For those of you who want to go to Shake Shack but are worried that you will pay for parking, you can also order ahead and then pick it up, and then leave within 30 minutes of entering, so you do not have to worry about paying the fees (although all parking fees are donated to the museum). The staff are super friendly and helpful, and will also be transparent with you about the approximate wait times. This location also has specials as well that are "exclusive" to this location too, so definitely check out their concretes and milkshakes. The food itself is like any other standard Shake Shack, so it's always yummy :) Definitely if you're hungry, go to the Shake Shack if you're at the museum!

Charles R.

Yelp
This location is not well suited to meet the level of foot traffic for the museum. Need to figure out how to better handle the large crowds.

Gerald M.

Yelp
Burger dry and price too expensive. I used to enjoy going to shake shack but now I rather spend my money at establishment with better quality food.

Wyatt C.

Yelp
I have NEVER in my life experienced such atrocious, rude customer service as I did at around 11:30 AM on 04/28/2024. After a lot of waiting, I finally got up to the counter to place my order at the Shake Shack within Air & Space Museum's Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center. Shortly after placing my order, I wanted to change it by subtracting an item. No big deal, right? WRONG. The inept cashier had to first call a manager to remove it at all, but I thought it'd be a simple matter of the manager (whose name I sadly don't remember - EDIT: Google reviews confirm his name is Howard Radis)) saying something along the lines "Okay, just take it off, blah blah blah". Instead, the abusive prick decides that I need to justify to HIM why I want the item removed and what I expect his to do with it. NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS! Instead of granting a simple order change request, I get rained down on with a nasty, rude verbal assault as if I just killed his puppy. trying to stay as polite as possible, I simply reiterated that I purchased the item under false pretenses and no longer wanted it. Keep in mind, this is BEFORE I ever paid for the order so I was on the hook for NOTHING. After seeing I wasn't going to be bullied into submission, he gave up and took the item off but not before uttering a snarky "Have a nice day". I realize this experience is not the fault of Shake Shack, but this manager is absolutely PATEHTIC and needs to be fired IMMEDIATELY. I wouldn't trust him to scrub toilets let alone serve people at a great museum like this. I'm just glad that this disgusting behavior was directed at me and not one of the many great Veterans who visit this place. But if he's willing to treat anyone like this then he has most definitely done it to visitors who are US Veterans. I ended up leaving without placing the order at all, I was so shocked and disgusted. I will be reaching out to Shake Shack's corporate communications line and telling them EVERYTHING.

Ross B.

Yelp
Lacking hard with costumer service. I bought a freeze dried ice cream sandwich from the gift shop. We walk through the gift shop straight to the seating area at shake shack. I didn't realize I was in the shake shack at the time, I thought it was just a seating area as I saw a coffee machine and a random self service snack fridge. We opened the sandwich to try it out while my wife and our entire school field trip were in line purchasing food. An older white guy came by and said you can't eat outside food in here. I shared that I purchased this in the building, I didn't bring it from outside, in a calm state not being combative (I now understand I was in Shake Shack, so he was correct). After I stated that, he felt the need to repeat what he told me extremely slow and in a rude tone as if I couldn't comprehend what he was saying. It took a lot for me to not get extremely mad and since I was there with the kids I kept my calm. Unbelievably horrible costumer service from this person. He could have easily listened to what I said and then could have shared that these are two separate areas. I'm sitting at home still irritated by the way people think they can talk to each other. Shake Shack, your food is great but I would recommend rethinking your employment decisions. FYI, we probably purchased something close to 50 meals.

Vandad C.

Yelp
Look it's shake shack. Sure the lines might suck and you might end up waiting 20 minutes for your food but it's good burgers. This novelty location performs just as well as the Tyson's or mosaic. Same quality, same wait times. I'd say given the fact that it's the only food option within the museum you should take that into account and be mindful of when you plan to stop by and eat, yeah there's going to be a line but it's not like a Disneyland line, it moves fast and then they'll call your name to come pick it up.

Austin O.

Yelp
Service was terrible and couldn't even explain what a cherry pepper was. Burgers were undercooked

Alex G.

Yelp
My son and I loved discovering new shake shack inside the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum. What a treat! Finally, much better food than usually at the museums. We love the fast and friendly service, and the fact that they have bottled root beer. They also have fountain drinks, and free water on tap. My son had a hotdog, And he ate most of it, except the bun. I tasted the hotdog, and I felt it was a bit too salty, but my son said it was just perfect and he really enjoyed it. Yes he did. I had the delicious chicken bites, with honey mustard sauce. And I thought it was a very tasty and nutritional meal with only 300 cal, and 24 g of protein. We paid about $15 for this and I thought it was a good value, considering that we are inside the museum. The dining hall was bright and clean and looked modern. We highly recommend this place.

Johnny W.

Yelp
Why is this line so long? Why no app support? Why only two cashiers? Why? You are in the air and space museum. You know average attendance numbers; it is summertime too- no school. Only reason I am waiting is cause my family wants ice cream and no other options.

Steven K.

Yelp
staff were extremely rude to camp counselors and campers, threatened to call security on children (7-9 years d) for sitting at a table

Rodney L.

Yelp
After a long day at the Air and Space, a meal at the Shake Shack that replaced the McDonald's was great. The menu isn't quite as large as regular restaurants but the Smoke Stack was just as good as it is elsewhere. A note: the restaurant keeps the same hours as the Museum. Promptly at 17:30 they closed

Rally S.

Yelp
We were sitting down eating and were asked to move tables because they were closing the section up for the day at 2:30?! Grabbed my food and had to move to another section where every table was disgusting. Customer service was also terrible.

Susan B.

Yelp
My husband and I ate there today. We had the shack burger, chicken bites, fries, vanilla shake and lemonade. The burger was so salty rendering almost inedible (I was starving). Mayo helped cut the salt but not enough. No shack sauce. Two tiny tomato slices. I spit out the disgusting chicken. My husband ate them because he was also starving. Fries were pre cooked but edible. Lemonade and shake were good. I always wanted to try Shake Shack. I did. I NEVER have to or will go back. Total disappointment.

Tyesha S.

Yelp
The food is spot on! And their fries are the BEST! My daughters love it. I should have one in my community.

Dean Z.

Yelp
The food I received was very greasy- typical fast food. It was pretty good though. The service was great and pricing was alright. This restaurant made me feel warm and welcomed. It was one of the lower tier fast food restaurants I've been to though.

Caden W.

Yelp
The service was absolutely terrible. I had arrived before the place even opened and waited in line for about 10 minutes until being kicked out by the very rude manager. I then had to go to the back of the line and didn't get to order until an hour later.

Eli S.

Yelp
Awful service, manager was VERY rude to customers. Manager kicked a ton of people to the very back of a very long line and yelled at several customer who were simply trying to be nice. easily the worst shake shack ever. food was sub par and way over priced.

A D.

Yelp
Worst place ever. Worst service ever. Laziest staff and longest wait. NEVER EAT HERE!

Mark C.

Yelp
Waited in line an hour to order and another 30 minutes for food to be prepared. Absolute, hands down, worst burger I've ever eaten in my life - burned to a crisp, literally. Just a terrible experience all the way around.

Meredith D.

Yelp
Busy Saturday. ONE PERSON AT THE CASH registers. They tell you when you order it will 30 minutes. Cannot believe they are unprepared for a Saturday crowd.

Sebastian D.

Yelp
While this Shake Shack is far from the main attraction at it's location, it provide decent fast food to keep visitors happy. While the service was very quick the food itself wasn't too good. I ordered a burger, hotdog, and chocolate shake. The burger patty felt frozen and the hot dog was okay. The chocolate shake however lightened my meal greatly. The ambiance feels like a modern twist along with old space shuttles in the background. This ambiance is something no other restaurant in the world could have and is the reason for my enjoyment.

Justin M.

Yelp
It's understaffed but the workers are incredibly nice and understanding. Food was great like all shake shacks.

Consumer W.

Yelp
This is fast food joint. Tip "cup" on the counter was unnecessary and while some may disagree, inappropriate. There was no service rendered other than taking the order. Where service shined is the order delivery counter. Two folks were working and were terrific. Hustle was their watchword. After a few minutes of watching them make consistently friendly and fast deliveries to the customers I wished I still had a business where I could hire them. Either would have made a great manager at a more formal restaurant, and with work ethic displayed probably could do a lot of jobs with success. Yes, tipped. Plenty of seating and it was clean and neat. Food was tasty. Fast food though. Burger significantly burned on outside but still good taste. But very small. Thought I ordered a burger, not a slider. Shake small but, as advertised, thick and very good. Expensive for what you get. Not sure how families can do this.

Mary J.

Yelp
VERY long wait for food. Poor set up with one guy putting together the orders. First you wait in a LONG line to order, then you wait even longer fir the food. They should post wait time at the back of the line so you know from the start just to leave and find good somewhere else( off campus) buy an astronaut ice cream at the gift shop to tie you over until you leave and find good, real food.

Monica F.

Yelp
Worst and more worsted terrible terrible plus terrible experience waiting time 2 hours for food

S L.

Yelp
Unbelievable... My son and I come here several times a years, for years on end. Today we waited in a very, very long line to order. We made light of it though and were in a great mood. After we received our food we enjoyed our pretty decent big lunch. Then off my teenage son went to enjoy the museum. I stayed behind on my laptop and phone, getting caught up on a variety of things. This is our normal routine. We go, eat lunch, he takes off wandering, learning, riding simulators, while I work on things, he comes back for another snack, then he heads to the gift shop while I wrap up. But today for the first time ever a Shake Shack manager came over and told me I couldn't stay since I had finished my meal, because they needed that table for other customers. At this point the place was 70% empty and the line was short. I asked - "are you serious?". He told me I needed to move to another set of tables in the museum to "do work". I was flabbergasted and in disbelief. I totally felt singled out. Would he have approached a big dude with muscles with that nonsense? I doubt it. I understand they have the contract but with this behavior (and other complaints I see on Yelp) they totally make their main customer - the museum - look bad. I hope owners of this Shake Shack take note.
