Vegetarians, beware! My spouse went to pick up an order we placed online: a Shroom Burger for me and a Cheeseburger for him. Imagine my shock when I opened the bag at home and discovered that my "Shroom Burger" had a meat patty hidden under the mushroom one! I have been a strict vegetarian for over 20 years, and this mistake is not only deeply upsetting but also a serious concern given my dietary restrictions, which are based on both religious and moral principles.
I double-checked the receipt to ensure the error wasn't on my end, and as I suspected, the receipt clearly showed that I had ordered a Shroom Burger. We immediately called the restaurant and spoke with a manager, America (if I recall her name correctly). She took my number and called me back. While she offered to remake the burger and comp it, we were already home--20 minutes away--so driving all the way back was simply not worth it.
When I asked for a refund, she agreed but only for the Shroom Burger, not the entire order, despite the fact that my spouse's burger had become cold and soggy during the time we spent trying to resolve this. He couldn't even enjoy his meal because we were stuck on the phone trying to navigate the situation. To make matters worse, America struggled to take down our name and order details correctly.
Adding insult to injury, I was told it would take six days to process a refund back to my card. Why can't they issue an immediate refund? Additionally, when I asked how I could obtain the comp card she mentioned, I was informed that I'd have to return to the restaurant in person--essentially requiring me to go back just to receive a replacement or the card. There's no option for an emailed code or an alternative solution, which seems absurd in this day and age.
This incident completely ruined our evening, and the lack of care and proper resolution is appalling. The fact that I was nearly served meat after two decades of vegetarianism is an unacceptable error, and their inability to handle the situation professionally makes it clear they are not equipped to accommodate dietary needs or resolve customer complaints effectively. I strongly advise dining elsewhere if you want to avoid similar mishaps.
