I went in to Grand Central Terminal one day to find a place to eat lunch. There are manny choices on the lower level. I finally decided to eat at Shake Shack. It is a very busy place at lunch. You can order on one of the tablets or directly from a register. They call your name when the order s ready to pick up. My order took over 10 minutes. Then it was tough to find a nice place to sit and eat. That took another 5 minutes. Today I just had a basic burger. It was juicy and most delicious.

Tried Shake Shack at Grand Central and while the food was quite good – as expected from the brand – the overall experience left much to be desired. The staff weren’t particularly friendly or helpful, and the atmosphere didn’t feel especially welcoming. One major downside was that they refused to accept cash, which I find quite frustrating, especially in a place as busy and iconic as Grand Central. Not everyone wants to or can pay by card, and this policy felt both inconvenient and unnecessary. Good food, but the poor service and cashless-only policy really let the place down.

Google
I tried their seasonal Carolina BBQ Burger with fried pickles. I didn’t have high hope about the fried pickles, but it was actually very nice. The outer batter was soo crunchy, and the pickle slice inside was still very juicy. The whole burger was very flavorful and moist. I liked it quite a bit.

I have never been a fan of Shake Shack. The fries are limp. The cheese has no flavor. The bacon has no salt. The meat is not meaty. The whole meal looks like white castle. The only good thing was the soda. Uncomfortable seating area. Pretty much self serve and the self order tablet asks if you want to leave a tip. Overall overhyped and underwhelming and OVERPRICED!!!

Google
Nearly missed my train by 48 seconds… I don’t understand how it takes 30 mins to make bacon cheese fries and a berry lemonade… I couldn’t get an answer as to why everyone else who ordered after me got their order faster than I stood in line. I want my money back I will call the store until I do Edit - returned 10/11 around 1 pm- FRANKIE helped me out thank you so much and made it better than I expected oh my god . I take back what I said. I appreciate this a lot and shows the company does train and care about the customers now it got 5 STARS

Love the kindness of the Crew. The black guy is really cute. I also love how fast the service is tbh and how easy it is to use. Thank you so much!!

Google
Shake Shack at Grand Central is the unofficial canteen of the terminal. You’re hungry, you’re moving, and you don’t have time to decode a farm-to-table manifesto. The burger? Nothing groundbreaking, but when you’re juggling a suitcase, a deadline, and a craving, or a few mouths several stations away, it’s the edible equivalent of a deep exhale. It may not be the quietest corner of the concourse, but it’s one of the few places where chaos tastes this good.

It’s a nice place at the grand central terminal, open until late, was there 11:15 PM and was quick (not a lot of people)

Yelp
Loved the burgers and shakes and it was delivered very quickly with the food still hot and the shakes cold.

Yelp
Very busy Shake Shack on the dining concourse level at Grand Central. The way to order here is by app or at their tablets, and even though it gets crowded, it doesn't take that long for most orders to be ready (only 5 minutes on our last visit). The hot dogs, fries, and chicken bites we got were about the same as every other Shake Shack, maybe just a little greasier than usual. There is limited seating in the Shake Shack area, but there are standing tables elsewhere on the concourse. Not as comfortable as eating at a standalone Shake Shack, but sometimes this location is just more convenient.

Yelp
Great for a bite when you forget to eat all day! I got the veggie burger, but it was served cold and undercooked. I didn't enjoy it as much as I would have if it were hot. They have a little seating area for those who purchase their food. It was pretty packed about an hour before 8:30pm. Happy eats!

Yelp
This review is overdue, given I have eaten here on the fly several times. It's a busy location with a high volume of traffic. It may be the busiest of the places in the food court in the basement of Grand Central. I always order the smoke shack bacon double cheeseburger, which is a pretty good burger. When Shake Shack burst upon the scene, the product was clearly well priced and still is, with good quality meat. Since then, Shake Shack has weathered the rather intense burger competitive landscape in NYC fairly well. However, Shake Shack needs to improve their French fry game. I am referring to the regular fries, which could greatly enhance the overall experience. This is where many competitors are besting Shake Shack by a wide margin. The current fries at Shake Shack have no golden crust on the exterior, just a bland somewhat mushy texture and limited flavor. The competitors have mastered a golden crust with a fluffy interior whose contrast makes the fries so good. So please take this into consideration. I know you can do it. One very important note on this location: the man working the limited seating area deserves the positive attention of corporate. He is working hard and going the distance for your customers. He is clearing and cleaning the tables with all that customer traffic. He is making way to seat your customers looking for the limited seating. He is helping parents with their children in the tight spaces. He is making a way for your customers when there does not seem seating for them. He is the unsung hero at this busy location. Three and a half stars.

Yelp
I came here yesterday for lunch and it was a really good solid lunch. My burger was done well it was the right temperature and tasted fresh.I also ordered the Parmesan truffle fries which were also hot and crispy. I do not think the wait was very long. They had an employee helping to move the line along and I will definite come back. The only problem I would say is the limited seating but it is Grand Central Terminal so it is expected.
google avatar

Yelp
Only in this photo the burger is from shake shack. The burger was $12 for a double patty korean bulgogi burger. It was good but needed a little more flavor. No ordering at the register, only through the tablets which I don't like because it is eliminating jobs. It is very crowded and hard to find a seat since it is the grand central eating area and not the usual shake shack set up. Took 20 minutes to get a burger which is crazy, but it is a busy location so I am understanding of that. The station itself is like a mall so feel free to look around, scavenger hunt, use it like a museum, or do some shopping.

Yelp
I haven't had a shake shack chicken sandwich in over a year. I ordered one at GCT ($10.00) that didn't have any sauce/dressing or pickles on it. Just a fried cutlet with chopped lettuce. Hardly worth $5.00 let alone $10.00. I also ordered a lemonade for $5.00. It was 80% ice and 20% lemonade. Shake shack was one of the very few fast food restaurants I would visit but won't ever again.

Yelp
This Shake Shack is always very busy so if you're planning to stop in before catching a train, make sure to budget enough time. They have 3 digital self-serve ordering tablets which make it super easy to place an order. They text you when you're food is ready for pickup and an employee also calls out your name. My cheese fries came out hot and crispy. I appreciated that the digital menu had an option to get the cheese sauce on the side.

Yelp
I love shake shack, but I can't say I love the grand central location. So bittersweet because when you need a bite in a pinch this is one of the better stalls for when you catch your train ride home but i think it's just so damn chaotic and busy the quality is much worse than any other place. Ripped in part bottom buns, soggy top buns, excessively greasy everything (including bag) - not good extra greasy, there's a difference.....and just botched execution- burgers falling apart, toppings thrown on wildly kind of mediocre. At the end of the day it fit the bill for our trip back to CT. Fries were well done, best part!

Yelp
Review is strictly on their milkshake I was in Grand Central and I was somewhat thirsty. I thought to myself actually I have never had Shake Shack's milkshake before. I heard that their milkshake is one of their popular items and is where it all started hence the name Shake Shack. So I decided to give it a try. I ordered the strawberry shake. It was was better than many fast food place like McD or BK but to me it was ok. Their milkshake was filling. The flavor options here are limited. I like that they are located in Grand Central. Service was good. I came when it was slow (around 2:30 pm) and so there was no huge line up. There are a few tables or seats to sit and eat your food.

Yelp
It's a shake shack, and it's inarguably the best food in grand central so I always pay it a visit when I'm traveling between New York and Connecticut. As with every shake shack, I think it's ridiculously overpriced: a double burger and fries will run you $15 after tax, which imo is absurd for glorified fast food. The other thing it's not? Fast. The number of times I've been sent into a panic at this shake shack staring at the clock needing to run to a train is insane. With that said, the employees do their best, it's just a lot of volume. The food is no better and no worse than any other shake shack, but across the board I find them to be underwhelming. The fries are meh, the burgers are good but there are certainly better smash burgers in nyc, and I recently just tried the chicken nuggets which I thought were very average. Could have been a lot crispier and better seasoned. Overall I'll be back due to convenience but shake shack has definitely lost its novelty.

Yelp
Where's the Diet Coke? And Whattya got against green pickle relish?? Love the flat dog, but mustard alone is not my choice. I either sit and eat or grab my meal and eat on the train. It's always delicious either way. And boy, do I love a potato roll!!!!

Yelp
Came here a handful of times. My food is always hot and ready to eat. I feel like shake shack takes a while to serve your food at all locations and this place is no exception. But if you want to enjoy the being in grand central terminal while enjoying something tasty this is the place to be!
google avatar

Cory N.

Yelp
Double smoke shack with no bun, onion, tomato, and peppers. Awesome. They do not serve a bag o' bones here, unfortunately. Order on the app beforehand to get your order faster, or use one of their ordering kiosks. Waiting on line to order in person takes a lot longer, especially when you are waiting for a train. Budget at least 15 minutes from the time you complete your order.
google avatar

Abigail G.

Yelp
Shake shack never disappoints, you can't go wrong with any of their burgers. This location can get really busy though and you might have to go elsewhere or wait a bit for a seat. You can order on a screen or at the counter there. I ordered via screen and they actually forgot to put lettuce on mine. They ended up giving another burger for free for the mistake which was great.
google avatar

Yelp
You see the overall rating & they deserve it. I was expecting a long wait since it's Grand Central & it was during a peak time, but it was actually the complete opposite. I placed my order at 1:53 & received my order by 2:01. My order was correct & the staff was kind. The Blood Orange lemonade is thee best as well.
google avatar

Yelp
doesn't even deserve the one star! burger was raw and i wish i could've returned it. absolutely gross.

Yelp
DON'T ORDER THE ICED TEA! I ordered an iced tea with a Shroom Burger and fries. When I asked for sweetener, I was told the tea is pre-sweetened. Great! Of Course, that was not the case. It was not sweet at all, and as I was by myself I wasn't going to leave my food at the table unattended (and I'd probably lose the seat as well.) On my way out I asked if I could have some sweetener. They looked at me like I had lobsters crawling out of my ears. "What? We don't have any sweeteners here at all" I was told. You'd think for $20 for lunch, you could at least get some sweetener for the tea. The Shroom burger was rather greasy, but the fries were good.

Yelp
Never been to a Shake Shack, and tbh, I don't remember ever hearing of it! (Yes, I live under a rock.) But, while doing research for a trip to NYC, it came to my attention, and after one of my friends who has visited NYC a few times said he goes for a burger every visit, I made sure to stop in before leaving town. Hence, while at GCT, I stopped in at this location to get my Shake Shack experience. I must say, I'm glad I did! Located in the food court of GCT, it's an open dining area. There is a small sign pointing the way to 'order' (not where the cashier is) and a menu is on the wall. NYC dealing with Covid appears to have made a lot of changes to this dining operation, so lets start with that. First, we had to show our vaccination cards before they would even let us order. She told us to 'keep the cards out', but not why. She then asked if we were paying with cash or card. When we replied card she told us to use the touch screen to place our order. (Cash would order with the cashier.) There are three monitors set up along a counter and they are fairly easy to use. Just scroll through, select the items you want, then hit the 'cart' icon top right to pay. You are asked for your cell phone number before check out and a text message is sent to you when your order is ready. I didn't see any hand sanitizer, but that may be because I carry my own, which we used after placing our order. We then went to sit down in the dining area while waiting for the text, and a different employee asked us for our vaccination card. This is why she told us to 'keep the cards out'. Now you know too. Once he had reviewed our cards, he put a little table tent on our table to show we were 'OK'd' to sit in the dining area. Customers had gathered around the counter (near the cashier) waiting for their orders to be done. Although not as fast as some fast food restaurants, it didn't take too long for the order to be ready. We were told by staff before ordering that our order would be packed 'to-go', but we are welcome to sit in the dining area if we are vaccinated. The burger has a nice grilled flavor and I enjoyed it. The lettuce was crisp and the tomato fresh. The cheese looks like one of those individually wrapped yellow cheese food slices. I'm not sure what the sauce is, but it's mild. Maybe a mayo/ketchup combo? Really unsure. If you're not sure you'd like that, you can make a note when ordering to remove that, and just get some packets available where you pick up your food. The fries are crinkle cut fries and they are cooked crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. Sadly, we did not try one of the shakes. Maybe we'll have another opportunity to stop by a Shake Shack to try one. If you like burger joints, and have tried several of the other national brands, you will probably enjoy this burger too. Not like the one with the 'Scottish name', more like the one that you 'pop into and then leave'. In any event, it was a good burger. One final note, as this is a food court, there are public restrooms at either end of the hall for all the businesses. The closest one is just past this restaurant, on the same side of the hall.

Yelp
Elizabeth and I took a trip into New York City during my business trip. It was delightful. On our way back to the train, we were starving, and Shake Shack happened to be the only restaurant open in Grand Central Station. I saw the limited edition Hot Ones menu items, and I was immediately intrigued. I ordered the Hot Ones Spicy Chicken Sandwich along with a ShackBurger. The ShackBurger is a reliable burger, but the Hot Ones Sandwich carried this meal. I thoroughly enjoyed the crunchy, juicy chicken drenched in hot sauce. Spicy food is my love language. I would have hot sauce on every dish if it were up to me. This wraps up my dining experience in the magical land of New York City. I enjoyed my time in NYC, and I look forward to exploring more of their food in the future. God Bless America and God Bless Food!

Yelp
While the food was great, it's really hard to enjoy the full experience at this location. There is extremely limited seating available. The face-to-face ordering was extremely slow. Note: If you plan to "dine in" (aka use their seating), you must order with the human. We got sick and tired of waiting so we ordered "to go" at the kiosks. The kiosk ordering was relatively easy and user friendly. We did not have to wait too long for the food pick up, but there's not much space to wait and it gets very crowded. Astoundingly, there were at least 5 app orders that sat there for the entire 20 minutes it took us to order and wait for our food. There were no other seating areas available and we were forced to go to an adjacent park-like area outdoors and eat our food out there. An alternative could have been Bryant Park, which would have been a bad choice since it's chock-full of winter village happenings. So, in summary, food was hot, fresh and yummy, but the overall dining experience was poor and unpleasant.

Yelp
I give them 5 stars because of the two kind and thoughtful workers. One is a cashier (Alisha) and the other (Ethan) was bussing tables. They both checked on our family once we were seated. Alisha checked on my order to make sure everything was ok. Ethan was friendly and helped me find a table. They are great and should be commended. Both are extremely friendly and kind.

Yelp
Sometimes I get the Shakes, and I need fast food in a hurry. Yet even in those moments, I won't stoop to Shake Shack. I literally only go to a Shake Shack when someone drags me to one, and it's disappointing how often people do. Shake Shack might be my least favorite chain along with Subway. I'm just so not a fan of the icky tasteless burgers - so bland and awful and extremely overpriced, about three times the price of McDonald's, while tasting a lot worse. We shared one of their "black and white" shakes that I've had before (meh). The milkshakes are the most disappointing thing because I'm a big fan of milkshakes, and this place is named after milkshakes, and yet they're really terrible. Would you like me to get some water beautiful, you're beautiful baby. Oh sorry I was talking to Barbie (voice dictation ftw). I've noticed that unlike other chains, some of which I give bad reviews to sometimes, my Shake Shack reviews are often deleted by Yelp for "not being detailed enough", despite the fact that there are dozens of reviews that are less than a quarter as long, and much less detailed. The difference? Mine are usually bad reviews (if it's Shake Shack) and mine are read by a lot of people. So it's hard not to think Shake Shack is doing something to have their bad reviews illegitimately removed. It keeps happening and it mostly only happens when I review a Shake Shack. We ate at this one in Grand Central just a couple of months ago and I hated it. Let's see if this perfectly legitimate review gets removed shall we.

Yelp
I feel like Shake Shack is a hype. I came here because some of my friends said it was the in n out of the east coast. Some of my friends told me it was better than in n out. I was honestly pretty disappointed. I ordered the Shroom Burger and fries and I thought it was okay. It didn't taste bad but the taste got boring after awhile. It might be the mushroom but felt that the burger just got tasteless the more I ate it. Shake Shack wasn't bad but it's also not a taste I would crave to come back and eat.

Sean O.

Yelp
No Tip equals onions on your burger. I ordered off a kiosk. Why do I need to tip ? I'll never eat here again!
google avatar

Yelp
I have heard about the Shake Shack but never tried it..until today. I actually sought out a location to try for lunch. We wound up at the Food Concourse at Grand Central Terminal. I'm glad we tried it. The place was extremely busy. The organizational plan was decently efficient. Our food order came out correctly within a reasonable amount of time. The burgers were pretty good. I got the Smoke Shack burger. My wife got the ShackBurger. The price was slightly on the high side for what was received. I would still return for lunch. I liked their burgers.
google avatar

Peter D.

Yelp
I love Shake Shack. I'm not going to get into how much better it is than just about every other fast food burger that you'd erroneously put in the same category, but just know that I love it. Unfortunately, this location just doesn't seem to operate with the same efficiency as the others for whatever reason. I would appreciate the irony that everything takes longer at the one location where I usually need to be catching a train...but it's actually annoying as hell. The food is still on point though, and I'm into the breakfast. A consistently delicious bacon, egg and cheese on a potato bun is exactly what I want before I hop a train to go spend way too much time with family. It may take a while for the staff to stop ignoring you and give you your order that is sitting in the window, but once I have the bacon, all is right with the world.

Yelp
Spoiler alert: there will be some In & Out vs Shake Shack comparisons here.if you are triggered easily, do not continue. Getting a Shake Shack Burger was my first priority getting off my red eye flight from California. Made a b-line to the closest Shake Shack. The gf didn't want a burger (wtf?) so I proceeded to get one Shake Shack, one order of fries, one order on Chick'n bites (terrible f***ing name), and a Diet Coke. The fries: crinkle cut fries. Crispy outer edges. Soft on the inside. Good just by themselves. Chick'n Bites: more like chicken balls based on the shape. Cooked within an inch of their lives. Only good thing about these was the accompanying bbq sauce. Definitely not a worthwhile product. The burger: The bun is great. The patty is smashed down on the griddle and the edges have a nice char. Burger was greasy though. Spread is good. The leaf lettuce was maybe too much. Cheese was fine. Here's the In&Out blow by blow. Shake Shack fries are definitely better. Shack Shack burger bun vs In&Out bun: edge goes to In&Out. The meat, cheese, spread and toppings? All In&Out. I totally see the appeal of Shake Shack. It is a different style of burger than In&Out and the burger has its merits. The fries were good. The chicken was bullshit. Shake Shack should focus on their key items. So why three stars? Service here was meh and they forgot my fries. Go to a diff location for your Shake Shack needs.

Happi Y.

Yelp
If you're looking for a spot to eat before your plans in NYC, despite how busy it may look, they have machines to order if you prefer ordering that way. Despite that it may seem there are no seats available fortunately we were able to find a table and our food took about 10 mins and they do have someone staffed to walking around, wiping down tables, and super friendly!!
google avatar

Yelp
Considering how packed this place can get, (I mean you are in a train station) they work pretty fast to get your order out. Of course I really dont order much from here, but their chesse fries and shakes, but I still watch others and they dont see to have a long wait either. I made a visit here only because I was waiting around to pass the time, so I decided to get me my fave from here, that is a black and white milk shake, with my cheese fries. I dont visit shake shack often, but I do have to say out of all the ones I visited so far I like this one the most. The staff just seem to give off a better vibe, they seem happy, and they actually take the time to aknowledge you, to really help you if your not sure about something, instead of taking orders and just dismissing you. I like that. A Although I dont like to hang around in any train station in , N.Y.C., I would stop by here to pick up some food. F.Y.I. my fries was hot and crispy, milk shake was deligthful. Ill come again, Im sure.

Yelp
I visited this location late Friday evening because it was the only opened place opened. The service was good and tue food was nicely prepared. I tried the truffle burger and my friend had the mushroom burger and both were great!

Steve U.

Yelp
Wow. Epic fail here.. Placed my order online and waited roughly 15 mins. Waited another 15 minutes for a place to "sit" in a laughably small eat-in area with 30 seats and half as many chairs. My $20 meal consisted of a barely recognizable hamburger (I ordered the black truffle burger), under cooked crinkle fries, and a 1/2 full cup of chalk-like chocolate shake. The burger looked NOTHING like the picture, and was not much bigger than a White Castle slider. I fell for this once. WAY overpriced. I won't be back. F-you Shake Shack. This sucked.
google avatar

Yelp
Not a pleasant experience this time. I ordered and was texted my order was ready. When I went to the counter, somebody said the food was preparing, so I waited & waited. After 20 minutes later, I asked again, they still said the food was not ready. Then I asked third person and found the food was there ready the whole time.
google avatar

Jacky C.

Yelp
Your standard fast food quality service with the Shake Shack brand. I ordered my food on the mobile app so that I could get out of work for lunch and immediately pick up my food and go back to work without wasting time. They have a mobile app line and a regular food order line where I found that most of the people standing in the mobile app line didn't order their food on the mobile app and where just standing there waiting for their food. I had to wait around for them to leave until I was able to pick up my food which was done a while ago. The purpose of the mobile app is so I can go when the food is ready, pick it up, and leave without wasting any time waiting for the food to be made. The way they had their queues and waiting area set up simply does not work and needs to be restructured. I would not recommend coming here for lunch if you're pressed for time.

Anonymous M.

Yelp
Staff was incredibly rude. I went and asked a question to which they had to go ask the back and as there was no barrier to prevent sound from traveling out, I could hear them laughing about it.
google avatar

Jerry K.

Yelp
Meh! As my daughter would say! Not anything that I want to spend another $25 on dinner again. As for my personal opinion-- if I want a good quality meat, I would want a steak.. not grind it into a burger.
google avatar

Mya D.

Yelp
Average... I work in area and regularly buy from this restaurant.. This the first time buying a chicken sandwich and i feel it's over cooked and looks nothing like the picture. The breading looks kind of red like they use adobo lol.. Not sure if the oil was fresh.. Anyhow i may have to stick to my burgers... Chicken sandwich thumbs down for me...

Yelp
Gotta say having shake shack so close to my hotel was pretty dangerous especially when they serve breakfast! We had shake shack on our first day at around 10am and we were shocked that there wasn't a line nor was there much of a wait. I had been to shake shack before but I didn't remember how good it was. I had heard about the shroom burger so I went with that. It's a very good vegetarian option but be warned it's filled with melty gooey cheese! It went well with the bun, tomatoes and lettuce but it was quite messy. You would bite one side and more cheese would ooze out the other side. Definitely tasty and I would get it again! But what's even better is that the shack stack is a beef patty and has the shroom in it as well! Best of both worlds! The beef was perfectly seasoned and the crisp from the mushroom was delicious! This is definitely the way to go for a first time shake shack experience! I did get a small strawberry milkshake and that was pretty standard nothing really stood out about the taste except for the $5 price tag! The crinkle fries are ok but nothing too exceptional about them. Next time I'm in NYC and I have a shake shack craving in the morning, this is the place to be! Total for 1: $15

Yelp
Fairly good. Had one before in China. The food was quite different between countries.

Yelp
We did not have dinner reservations and needed to eat before seeing The Great Comet of 1812 at 8 pm. We were on the upper East side so took the subway to Grand Central, intending to transfer. I thought we could walk to the theater from there and find food on the way. While leaving we happened upon the Shake Shack and it was packed. Yet it would take less time than a restaurant, even with a long line. My daughter had a cheeseburger and I had a burger. We shared fries. Neither of us had a shake or the secret sauce for the burger. Yet, the burgers were pretty good. The meat had good flavor and was nicely grilled. Lettuce was nice and fresh. So it was good, and not expensive for NYC. I prefer Five Guys because I like grilled onions and mushrooms but the meat here was nicely grilled.

Breakfast review: Utter delicious fatness. I had to get up early in the morning on a Sunday for a trip to Westchester and decided I needed a reward for being awake, a delicious fat award. When in GCT, what else to consider but the Shake Shack breakfast menu. I got the sausage, egg N' cheese and found it to satisfy my cravings. You can tell everything was essentially freshly made, including the sausage. The egg was nicely fried, sandwiched between their delicious potato bun. The sausage was nice and thick, full of flavor. I think the only dislike I had was that the sausage was sweet which I personally do not prefer but nonetheless it was still quite good. Definitely worth a try if there is no crazy line.

Yelp
Eeehhh, I've been to better Shake Shacks. I got a Shack Burger and the taste was off, something about the patty. Not only was it overcooked but it wasn't as hot as I wouldve liked for it to be either. I was in a rush so I wasn't going to complain. I also got cheese fries which were just okay and again not as hot. The line to purchase wasn't that long and they had about 3 cashiers. There were a ton of people waiting to get mobile orders but mine only took a few minutes to come out. The location itself is easy to find - as soon as you go into the dining hall you'll spot the Shake Shack sign. There's limited seating right next to the stand but there's more seating in the general section. This is def. one of those locations where you need to order ahead. Its clear that they get an insane amount of traffic since they're inside the Grand Central Terminal.

Yelp
This place is always packed so order in advance with the app. You will save yourself time and a line. I do find it very convenient when I'm catching a train to CT. I bought a burger and fries for my mom when I sent her home and she's been a lover of the burgers since. She thought I made a mistake when I gave her this delicious thing. She remembered it weeks after! Periodically, I buy the burger and bring it to her but it's best warm.

Yelp
We just arrived in NYC, and our fearless leader couldn't wait to take us to Shake Shack. Very long lines, but burgers and fries were pretty good. It actually hit the spot after a morning of traveling. It is a step up from the usual fast food you encounter.

Yelp
Finally tried out the famous Shake Shack and it was okay. Definitely a bit of a wait, but my bf ordered ShackBurger® Single or Double Cheeseburger topped with lettuce, tomato, ShackSauce™ -We got the double..no tomato. I will say, the meat itself is..meaty as hell. But the flavors were meh. Nothing fantastic about it..just a basic burger. SmokeShack® Single or Double Cheeseburger topped with all-natural applewood smoked bacon, chopped cherry pepper, ShackSauce™. -Also got a double and I feel that they should put a warning that this burger has a kick. I don't mind spicy, but it was a surprise to me knowing there was a good spice to it. I feel if people who can't handle spicy eat this..would be in some trouble lol. This one definitely had more flavors. Cheese Fries Topped with our special blend of cheddar and American cheese sauce. Warning: They're highly addictive. -The fries alone were good. Super crunchy and flavorful..I usually don't like crinkle cut, but they had some good fries. The addition of cheese and bacon, ehhh..the bacon tasted fake lol. (INNOUTALLTHEWAY)

Yelp
Server was downright hostile in taking our order while there was no line to speak of. Burger was pretty tasty (thankfully), but super tiny. While the French fries were downright abhorrent. I've been hearing about Shake Shack for years. Very much not worth it. Would have been better off rolling the dice on a dirty water hot dog out on the street.

Yelp
This review is for their breakfast... (I know?!? What??!) I was wandering around GCT... Waiting for my appointment... So what's a hungry girl to do? Hit the concourse and hunt for food. Well nothing was really open, cuz it's only 8:15 am... To my surprise Shake Shack was open and I was curious... "Could people really have given up on life to eat a double at 8:15am?!?!" Nope, they were lining up for breakfast... Ok, let's try it. Simple breakfast menu: bacon/egg/cheese; sausage/egg/cheese; egg/cheese... Etc. they serve Stumptown bottled/box coffee... And will give you a cup of ice to make it even "colder"... (Her judgey eyes looking at me like.. "Do you really need an extra-extra cold brew?" & I stared back... "Yes, yes I do... Give me the ice"). I got bacon/egg/cheese and a box Stumptown cold brew w/ milk and 2 cups of ice.. (Why? Bc the single cup only has like 6 ice cubes in it). Verdict: 2 Stars for the Coffee & 1 for a great CON! Stumptown cold brew w/ milk - awesome (it's not made by Shake Shack)... $4.75 - it's worth it... But probably would prefer getting it at the actual place. The bacon/egg/cheese sandwich... - basically an overpriced breakfast sandwich, that you can get at ANY bodega for $2... VS. paying like a tourist at $4.79 (I totally got con... Smh). Total bill: $10.39... I guess I'm skipping lunch today! *sniff* Sadly, Shake Shack should totally stick to making BURGERS... & Milkshake.... Happy hunting!

Yelp
This Shake Shack location is just like the others. Friendly staff, fast service, and consistent food. The only difference is that this one is located in the iconic Grand Central Terminal. It's located on the basement concourse amongst the other food court options. Needless to say that this place is a popular choice. We came here shortly after it opened for lunch so the line was luckily only 3 people ahead of us. Browsing the laminated menu, we settled for a (mu)shroom burger with some bacon cheese fries on the side. That smashed burger with cheese and the meaty panko-fried portobello mushroom were not overdone and the remaining encoutrement complimented it well. The crinkle fries were fresh from the fryer and dipping it in the American cheese sauce was as fatty as you could possible get. The experience is consistent with the other Shake Shack's in town. Nothing else left to say.

Yelp
I LOVE Shake Shack. Don't get me wrong. I'm also very glad they have a location in Grand Central, and I will continue to get an entire meal to take with me when I jump back on the Metro North train, but.. There's something about this location. I can tell you I've never had a horrifying experience or anything, but it's still not worthy of five stars. First off, the staff is great and I've honestly been pleased with my service every time I've been here. And let me tell you, I've been here plenty. They're great. However, this Shake Shack is located right next to the men's and specifically women's restrooms. Terrible location for such a busy place! You never know whether someone's waiting for their food or waiting to pee. And when you do get your food, you have to squeeze through the little gap out of the shake shack area and between all the women standing in line. Very unpleasant! Also, why do there have to be railings for the shake shack wait? Is it so people won't steal food and run? I don't hate the railings because sometimes it's convenient, but I wish there was more than one exit. The food here has always been great, though my concrete the last time I was here was pretty melted. It was the Easter special with chocolate bits inside and it was just a bit too soft and liquidy. It's not the worst thing that could happen, but hey I'm just telling you the truth. Other than this, everything has been good. Unfortunately after you get your food there's nowhere to sit. I swear the Shake Shack seats are always taken, which really sucks and it's not their fault but it's a crappy aspect of this location. I guess that's what happens when you're in Grand Central. Oh well. Also, there's pretty much always a line at this location. It moves rather quickly and it doesn't take too long to get your food, surprisingly. They're on top of it, I tell ya! I'll always come back to this Shake Shack, especially because they stay open pretty late. Gotta love it. But I guess... Take it or leave it. But really, for a shackburger, concrete and fries? Take it. It's worth it!

Yelp
Back in March of 2016, I gave the then new North Hollywood location 3 stars. I recall the burger being tasty but nothing spectacular. After visiting the Grand Central Station, I have to reduce the rating for Shake Shack to 2 stars. Why? Unbelievably long line to order and an even greater wait time to receive your order. On top of that, the burgers were just okay tasting. I mean, I still do not understand what the fuss is all about. I will give you that their crinkle cut fries are some of the best tasting fries I have ever had. Their Frozen Custard (aka Concrete) was melting by the time I received it. I guess it and other others were on the counter waiting for the burgers to be completed, etc. I would definitely lean towards In n Out, Five Guys, and Habit Burger before going to SS...
