Ok, the trip here really redeems the experience I had at the location in Vegas years ago. First time I've stepped in one since that trip, since after that visit I figured I never needed to go again. However, when they drop one in your home town, and they have some location specific items, I felt the urge to try them again.
Weekday night, made it down to the stockyards. Wasn't too bad to find some free street parking, there are a few spots beside the Hyatt that aren't part of their lot, but good luck on getting one during the weekends I bet. Place was pretty empty, maybe couple other customers. I went there not knowing for sure, but hoping, that the Shack Link Burger would be on the menu. It was, so I got that, some cheese fries, and whoa, they have large size drinks now! I was about to go with the small when I remembered you gotta get refills at the counter. Honestly, they need to put a coke machine on the floor. Nobody likes going to the counter to get refills, and obviously they know that cuts down on costs. C'mon guys, get with it.
Anyway, my stuff comes out. The Link burger is made with Pecan Lodge sausage, beef patty, and cheese, and it was durn near fantastic. Really good, and thank goodness it is smaller because otherwise it would be a classic gut bomb. But man it was good. The cheese fries tasted just like the other ones I had years ago, but for frozen crinkles, they're pretty damn good, and the cheese sauce (if it really is cheese) has a lot of flavor and goes good with the fries. My large drink didn't need a refill, so pretty well all around satisfaction.
It wasn't cheap, I believe about $15 and change. Service was fast, and friendly. Someone came by my table to grab my tray and offered to get me a refill. The store is pretty good size, and looks pretty nice inside. I thought it was a pretty good meal, and I might even go to the trouble to come back occasionally for that Link burger.
