Shake Shack’s New Fort Worth Location Is Inside an Old Stable | Eater Dallas

"Opening Sunday, January 26 at 11 a.m., this new 3,100-square-foot burger bar in the historic Stockyards occupies a former working stable—its original horse stalls remain visible inside—and pairs rustic equestrian design (stone walls, industrial blackened steel and salvaged-walnut tabletops by Michael Hsu Office of Architecture) with eco-friendly materials. The menu centers on the chain’s signature 100% all-natural Angus beef burgers, chicken sandwiches, griddled flat-top dogs and frozen custards, and includes Texas-only items like a Link Burger topped with Pecan Lodge sausage plus new frozen-custard concretes: S’Mores and Pie Oh My (the latter featuring chunks of Four & Twenty Blackbirds seasonal pie, with 5% of its sales donated to Alliance For Children). The beer and wine selection highlights local makers—Deep Ellum Brewing Co., Community Beer Company, Four Corners Brewing Co. and Lone Star—alongside the chain’s exclusive Brooklyn Brewery ShackMeister Ale, and the first 100 people in line at opening will receive custom swag, including leather goods." - Tierney Plumb

Google
Burgers and shakes at same place and that too perfect location. Really admire the idea of keeping water dispensing unit, that too in summers of texas.

Google
In a busy small town filled with packed restaurants, we were looking for a place to dine in. Finally, we saw the large open space at Shake Shack and it also provides convenient kiosks for easy ordering. Despite the crowd, the line moved quickly, and the friendly staff informed us of a 30-40 minute wait time. We were lucky to get a table, and my kids absolutely loved the burgers. Overall, a great spot for a family meal.

Google
One of my favorite burger places! We got a burger and hotdogs with fries, which was really yummy. The dessert and milkshakes were a perfect way to end the meal. I tried the Thai tea flavor and it was ok. It was too sweet for me, but paired with the salty fries was the perfect combo. Definitely the spot to check out if you’ve never tried Shake Shack food before.

Google
They have great burgers and their peach shake was incredible, with real peaches in it. I would highly recommend. This location is very busy, since it is on the main road. I went on a weekend and the line was long but moved fast. All the tables were filled so it was a quest to get a table. This is a great vegetarian option since all other restaurants around are mostly BBQ food.

Leah F.

Google
The Burgers and fries were excellent. The food was freshly made. Employees are nice and you have someone going around with disinfectant wipes cleaning the tables which is great. The only complaint I have is the women's restroom. It's super small and it was so dirty.

Google
Food was great! Service was great, and all the staff was very nice. Our food was piping hot and came out very quickly - impressive given how busy they were during a lunch rush on a Friday in the stockyards in Fort Worth.

Google
My son and I really enjoyed coming to your establishment after a day of learning at the Sid Richardson museum in downtown. The stockyards location is always so tasty. This restaurant is clean and efficient. LOVE the staff here. They’re always so courteous! Thank you!

N C.

Google
Love that they have kiosks so it helps reduce your time waiting in line. We ordered the shack stack, avocado bacon burger, fries, apple cider donut shake, and a cookies and cream shake. Burgers were good, but does not justify the price. I enjoyed my cookies and cream shake. It had good chunks of cookies with every sip. The apple cider donut shake was unique.

Yelp
While spending the day in the Stockyards we were looking for a quick well made burger and we found it. First we placed our order with a friendly assistant. You could also put the order in yourself on a tablet. You could see the restaurant was kept very clean which is important to me. We ordered a shake shack single and double burger and crinkle fries. The burgers were cooked to perfection so juicy and hot. The bun was so soft and fresh. The fries were also hot and crunchy.

Yelp
Yes there are other restaurants here but after a few days of trying new expensive things, my wallet didn't like me and the kids wanted something familiar so shake shack it was. The chicken bites however were too salty and my youngest refused to eat those so she shamelessly "shared" my lettuce wrapped shack stack burger instead (cheeseburger with cheese filled fried mushroom on top ). My oldest eats up 75% of the cheeseburger and had no complaints. Fries were hot and standard. The employees were working hard to keep the environment clean and we really thank them for their effort.

Yelp
I can't begin to describe how obsessed I am with the truffle burger. O. M. G. I went back two days in a row to eat it. I was initially afraid of overwhelming flavors, but that does not exist here. The truffle spread coupled with the Gruyère cheese is divine. I loved the sauce so much that I grabbed truffle fries as well. Perfect little Stockyards stop off.

Alexis S.

Yelp
The ordering/signage was a bit confusing and there was minimal guidance from employees around. Wasn't a fan of the truffle burger but my husband's normal burger was great! The fries were good too but the ranch sucked.

K R.

Yelp
This is by far the best shake shack I've ever been to. Everything was cooked perfectly. The restaurant was clean and the staff is extremely friendly. What else can you ask for?
google avatar

Teddy A.

Yelp
The food was good but the service was mean it took an hour and a half to give me the food they claimed to call out the. Number but didn't They gave me sass by saying have a nice day.
google avatar

Tomas P.

Yelp
There are probably better places to eat here at the stockyards We shouldn't have tried our luck at a shake shack regardless of how nice it looks inside. Got our food rather quickly, which was nice but it begs the question as to why my fries were cold. Paper cups for water were convenient and that's about it. My sons chicken sandwich was half the size of the bun it was in so it's no chic fil a not that they're trying to be.
google avatar

Yelp
The food was great and fast however the Restroom patrol was obnoxious and uninviting. I couldn't believe how rude they were stopping people with gusto and pride. Like a toilet troll they blocked people from relieving themselves brought them more happiness to have that control. Don't come here if you are looking to eat good food and use the bathroom in peace cause the potty patrol will stop. I will give this location 2 stars for the inability of leaving a number 2. Shack shack more like shake crap.
google avatar

Terry J.

Yelp
Good, juicy burger with the best crinkle cut fries. Located in the heart of Stockyards this place was busy but service was super fast. Like lightening speed fast.
google avatar

Athena H.

Yelp
Delicious smash style burgers! We got classic cheeseburgers, an order of regular and spicy fries and a orange cream float. The burgers were fantastic and they have gluten free buns which always makes me super happy. The fries are okay, nothing great but they were super crispy. We were kinda disappointed in the float but I guess that's on us for getting and float and not a shake at Shake Shack. Due to the location at the service is kinda chaotic, but not as bad as other restaurants near the stockyards.

Yelp
Shake shack in the stockyards - who wants to go on a flavor adventure? Meeee! This place is absolutely legit - and it's located right in the middle of Forth Worth where you can see cowboys riding horses down the middle of the street! Like what could be better? I mean, besides a burger and fries! I think shake shack started in Madison Square Park and recently branched out opening spots across the US. Fresh beef, cheese, and toasted potato roll - it doesn't get any simpler but they are serious experts. If this is your first time, definitely get the world renowned shack burger, their awesomely crispy crinkle cut fries and a shake to complete the trifecta. Once you've had the OG, then you can branch out and explore the entire menu. You typically won't be disappointed from my experience. Ordering can be a bit tricky since they have a mix of kiosks and walk-up but the friendly staff will definitely take care of you! They got plenty of seating, but parking can be the challenge. There is valet if you don't mind the extra cost but it's super convenient. Definitely worth a trip if you have never been.

Yelp
It was a very hot day, and Shake Shack gave us a chance to cool down and get some great food. The kids' menu was not listed, but the cashier told us grilled cheese is available. Everything was ready in a short time, and as usual the food is very tasty. Very happy with the experience.

Yelp
Found the Stockyard location to be a great place to grab a burger while watching the Longhorns parade down the street. Modern take on the wild, Wild West. Entire family found something to enjoy: a simple single burger, double cheeseburger, chicken bacon avocado sandwich & the Smokeshack burger along with some cheese bacon crinkle cut fries and a couple shakes cool us off.
google avatar

Mike M.

Yelp
Great spicy chicken sandwich! The food came out fairly fast for being extremely busy. Been to the Stockyards only 3 times but had eaten here twice!

Yelp
Not a fan. Here are the CliffsNotes from my recent experience. Ordered 6 shakes for my group. Paid extra for all the toppings. Received a text 8min after order that they were ready at the counter. I walked up and after standing there a few min, an employee finally asked if I needed something. I showed them the text that my order was ready, and they just referenced to some back area that someone was working on it. I waited patiently for another couple minutes and this process repeated itself with a different employee. A couple min after that, the same thing happened again. 16min after I ordered the shakes, and 8 min after I received a text that the order was ready, I finally received the shakes. The shakes, were completely watered down. The toppings that we paid extra for were nearly non existent. If not for the fact that the customer service was so horrible, I would have gone back up to ask them to remake the shakes. I will not be patronizing this place again.

Yelp
coffe cup had no correct fitting lid . server had ear buds and was talking through the entire time . bad customer service

Yelp
For how busy it food comes out pretty quickly and always good. Outside patio is nice in the evening to dine at.

Lawana M.

Yelp
The cheese fries are very good and they give you a giant toothpick to eat them with. The menu is overpriced for what you get.

Julia R.

Yelp
Ordered a 16-oz beer, but half the cup was foam. We ordered at the kiosk, and my kids thought they were getting whipped cream on their shakes (as shown in the pictures)--no whipped cream. I ordered a 50/50 lemonade (50% tea and 50% lemonade)--it was all lemonade and too sweet for me to drink. So, we ordered four beverages, and we pretty much got none of what we wanted. Surely they can do better.

Paul H.

Yelp
Usually good. Tough to eat my to go sandwich when the top bun is put upside down . Dressing was a little messy turning the bun back.
google avatar

Luke R.

Yelp
Delicious burgers! Very moist and flavorful patty with good fixing and at reasonable prices.

Stephen G.

Yelp
Great chicken and fries are awesome. Great shake and fast service. Will definitely visit again when in Fort Worth.

Yelp
So went to check this spot out since it just opened in the stockyards and obviously i'm a burger connoisseur. So i had the shackmeister burger which comes with cheese, fried shallots, shack sauce and i added bacon. The burger had good flavor but was pretty small for the price and the beer is a little pricey as well, the fries were good just simple crinkle cut fries which were good. I'm gonna have to give it 3 stars for now until i can visit again, on the same street is Love Shack and I'd say there burgers are better. I wanna try the shakes next time so i'll be back, overall I'd say this place is worth a shot to try, plus the stockyards is always pretty cool to go visit for a quick lunch.
google avatar

Sandy H.

Yelp
These burgers are delicious! They have many tables inside and have not had issues finding a table when I have come to eat. The environment is clean and staff is friendly.
google avatar

Justine C.

Yelp
Portions could be bigger. They do not have a kids meal but the normal portions are comparable to that. The service was quick and the air conditioning was really cold! Loved that

Yelp
At the stockyard with my little girls. Stopped in for a refreshing drink. Got their watermelon limeade - not the best and I wouldn't recommend. Luckily I decided to try a different one. It's a margarita limeade and it's delicious!!! Definitely recommend this one if you like sour. Yummy flavor!

Yelp
A Shake Shack close to home may or may not be a good thing, but I'm happy they have opened up near me. [HOW TO ORDER] I downloaded their app to order and it was an easy and quick process. The app also asks for the make and model of your car. Once I was near, I pressed a button on the app that indicated that I was at the curbside parking. It was an easy process for me! [LOCATION] This Shake Shack is located smack dab in the Stockyards in the newly built area called "Mule Alley". When driving in the Stockyards, just remember that you're driving over a bricked road and it's only one-way. There's only a handful of parking spots in the front and (2) curbside spots on the side so I can see parking being a hassle if you were trying to eat there if the Stockyards area was busy. The Stockyards has some designated parking lots but these lots are not free. [FOOD] The food is as expected for Shake Shack. I'm personally a fan of Shake Shack and have tried it at multiple locations around the U.S., including Chicago, NYC, and Dallas. They are known for their thin patty burgers and chicken sandwiches. I usually order the Shack Burger with bacon and this time I also ordered the newest Hot Chick'n sandwich and pumpkin shake (because it's pumpkin season baby!). The Hot Chick'n sandwich comes in three levels of heat. I can't tolerate too much so I chose the lowest level which is "Hot" -- Other options were "Extra Hot" and "FIRE". Very solid spicy chicken sandwich IMO. Their crinkled fries are pretty crispy and tasty. I don't usually try to spruce up my fries with their cheese and bacon. I like it how it is :-) I haven't dined in yet but I'll be looking forward to it in the near future!

Yelp
Always wanted to try Shake Shack and I just happened to be in the stockyards area one Sunday and decided to grab lunch while there. Dine in is still closed so you place your order with a staff member at the entrance for to-go orders. For my first time, I wanted to go with the classics so I ordered a ShakeBurger, regular crinkle fries, and a large drink. It was $12 and some change total. The burger itself was just okay as far as a burger goes. The size was small and the ingredients were straightforward. Nothing to be excited about. Crinkle cut fries are my favorite and it tasted just fine but $3 for a handful? Gasp. Perhaps I would like the specialty burger versions more but judging on their basic offerings, it did not sell me on becoming a returning customer.

Yelp
I was surprised to find a 'Shake Shack' here in the Fort Worth Historic Stockyards, it seems very out of place compared to the rest of the businesses that are locally owned and have a more conservative vibe. Anyway, the theme of this location was done well to match the rest of the historic stockyards.. cowboy, saloon, and stucco on the exterior. This location has been setup to run efficiently during the COVID-19 pandemic. Ordering food is done via the mobile app or at their touch screen kiosks on the right when you walk in. Because of the pandemic cash is not accepted and credit card info is taken at the kiosk. Cleanliness is top notch with sanitizer everywhere and the customer service is on point! Very friendly staff. The food quality was like expected.. delicious and cooked to perfection. Burgers at Shake Shack are a bit on the smaller end in my opinion so I recommend you double the patty if you're hungry. Their crinkle cut fries are awesome but if you wanna make em taste incredible I recommend you get the cheese sauce to dip them in.. SOooOOoo good!! I always get the lemonade at shake shack, if you're into tarty kind then this is right up your alley. Shake Shack is on the more expensive side of burger joints, expect to pay about $12-16 per person.

Yelp
Hmmm I don't know yet. I'm in limbo like I'm diggin it but I'm not. I don't hate it but I don't like it vibe going on. I went in ordered food at their kiosks that nobody seems to use but while they were standing in line ordering at the register I went off and used their kiosks that they have at the entrance waiting line. Lol not sure why people were lining up when there's kiosks right there like I think there was 4 screens ready to be used and people were just standing there waiting to order at the register. I finally was able to use a kiosks because I thought they were kid toys or ads to keep people entertained but nope you can use them to order your food. Buuuuuuuut with that being said maybe after what I went through and struggle with using one of those touch screen kiosks that's probably why others were not using it. The touch screen was trash I had to keep correcting my info because the screen wasn't reacting to my touch. At times I had to keep pressing the same number and letter til it finally worked. But it wasn't too bad it was just frustrating especially when people are crowding around you waiting to order at the front single register. I didn't like the shake or what ever it was that I ordered because it just had a meh taste. But I did like the spicy fries and at first I was reluctant to order because that price and the image shown on the screen I was kinda hesitant to continue with my order. The image used was a few fries with a little sprinkle of red spice but what I got was a omfg mega load of seasoning and boy!! Was that spicy it was just too much that it caused me to cough and sneeze because I kept breathing in the dust. Plus it was allot of fries compared to the sad image that was shown on the kiosk. Will I come back? Heck yeah I liked it I want ti try out a burger next time

Yelp
I love shake shack and this location did not disappoint! I ordered a quick lunch to go because I was late for an event - my order was accommodated quickly and the food was delicious as always. Highly recommend not just the burgers here, but also the hot dogs and chicken sandwiches. Also, don't forget the FRIES! Definitely get cheese sauce for dipping - no regrets.

Andrew D.

Yelp
Don't let their customers go to the bathroom near the end of the night because they already cleaned them. But don't worry! You can walk to a bar or a few streets down.
google avatar

Christina T.

Yelp
Trekked it down to the new Shake Shackfor lunch a few weeks ago. Thrilled they are finally in Fort Worth! The Shake Shacks I've visited are consistently on point and the stockyards location proves to be no different. Ordering is quick and efficient. You can place your order yourself - using the kiosks to the right when you enter - or the old fashioned way at the counter. Oh the burgers....there are no words. And yes, They have hot dogs and grilled cheese but I can't quit the burger. I'm also a big fan of the crinkle cut fries which can be ordered with cheese or cheese & bacon. Grab a Brooklyn Brew and you're almost in the Big Apple. They also have sodas (of course) & shakes and concretes. Only difficulty is parking....$15 bucks for most pay to park lots. There are free parking spaces down near the old Swift plant if you happen to luck out. Maybe plan on a day wandering our historic stockyards so you get your $15 worth...you'll be glad you did.

Colton C.

Yelp
The food was honestly really good, and so was the atmosphere. However the tipping is out of control considering they don't even serve you here. Plus your already paying $35 and the food took forever to come out when it was dead.

Yelp
Ok, the trip here really redeems the experience I had at the location in Vegas years ago. First time I've stepped in one since that trip, since after that visit I figured I never needed to go again. However, when they drop one in your home town, and they have some location specific items, I felt the urge to try them again. Weekday night, made it down to the stockyards. Wasn't too bad to find some free street parking, there are a few spots beside the Hyatt that aren't part of their lot, but good luck on getting one during the weekends I bet. Place was pretty empty, maybe couple other customers. I went there not knowing for sure, but hoping, that the Shack Link Burger would be on the menu. It was, so I got that, some cheese fries, and whoa, they have large size drinks now! I was about to go with the small when I remembered you gotta get refills at the counter. Honestly, they need to put a coke machine on the floor. Nobody likes going to the counter to get refills, and obviously they know that cuts down on costs. C'mon guys, get with it. Anyway, my stuff comes out. The Link burger is made with Pecan Lodge sausage, beef patty, and cheese, and it was durn near fantastic. Really good, and thank goodness it is smaller because otherwise it would be a classic gut bomb. But man it was good. The cheese fries tasted just like the other ones I had years ago, but for frozen crinkles, they're pretty damn good, and the cheese sauce (if it really is cheese) has a lot of flavor and goes good with the fries. My large drink didn't need a refill, so pretty well all around satisfaction. It wasn't cheap, I believe about $15 and change. Service was fast, and friendly. Someone came by my table to grab my tray and offered to get me a refill. The store is pretty good size, and looks pretty nice inside. I thought it was a pretty good meal, and I might even go to the trouble to come back occasionally for that Link burger.

Yelp
Ate here for lunch one day because I work in the Stockyards and wanted to try the new location. Haven't had Shake Shack in a while. As soon as I walked in, I had associates asking me if I needed help with the menu or making a decision. I politely declined. Its just fast food. I ordered and received a buzzer. Took about 10 minutes. The location was clean and nice. I got my food and asked for a water cup along with the iced tea I ordered and she instructed me to a complimentary water fountain around the corner. It was cold and filtered but it doesn't offer a lid for your cup so I asked for one at the counter. It was like $5-6 for the burger and around $3 for one size of fries. I wanted to order a shake but I couldn't justify the price. Kinda pricey all in all. The food was packaged nicely and it was a decent burger and fries. Nothing spectacular. Don't really have any negative comments, so go try them out. You can honestly find a better burger in the Stockyards but if you want something familiar, Shack Shake won't disappoint.
google avatar

MaryLou S.

Yelp
The place is alright. It was a little expensive in my opinion. No meals on the menu everything is ordered separately.

Miles C.

Yelp
What more can I say, they offer actual Gluten Free food. Thank you!

Alexis C.

Yelp
Definitely wouldn't recommend this place. It's overpriced for very mediocre food. So this place is one of those annoying places that charge separately for fries, it's a burger joint so you'd think an order of a burger comes with fries like any typical place. That being said there are several places that charge separately for fries that I love going to! My issue with this place is that they charge separately as if it's something worth charging separately for! Fast food quality, high prices. Spend your money on better options in this area! Quick service though.

Sarah R.

Yelp
I was excited to try but I was disappointed. The self-kiosks are fairly easy to use however if you are paying cash you will find yourself waiting a while for someone to take your order. I ordered the ShackBurger wrapped in lettuce as I saw it was an option. The lettuce used to "wrap" the burger was burnt and it all just turned extremely soggy as it was very greasy as well. You could get better food somewhere else

Johnny D.

Yelp
Terrible job! $44 order and didn't get a single burger correct! Not one! Isn't this what you guys do every day? Can't you get simple tasks correct? To wait that long and not get what we ordered is totally unacceptable. Unfortunately we got the order to go and we were on a tight timeline. The quality of the food left a lot to be desired as well. The beef patties were very thin, overcooked and unseasoned. The burger assembly looked like they just threw the ingredients at the bun. It was pretty obvious they just didn't care! I will never go back. Terrible food and a terrible experience!

Madison V.

Yelp
Miriam is AMAZING! she made my experience great and I will definitely be back! She needs a raise!

Yelp
Walked in 15 min til closing and had the nicest service. All were so friendly and the product was crispy fries, and perfectly cooked burger. So kudos to the staff who took business in stride as they should. Thumbs up!!!
google avatar

Matt S.

Yelp
Really good food, but everyone knows this. What I am going to review is the great service. Very glad to have made the choice to be their customer tonight!
google avatar

Brad M.

Yelp
Showed up at around 7pm on a Tuesday night...and they're closed. No warning on google or any reason to be closed over the holidays. Not impressed!
google avatar

Aaron M.

Yelp
I ordered the mushroom burger. Fried mushrooms filled with cheese. Its a kind of cheddar cheese that oozes out. I got peppers and pickles lettuce on the lettuce bun. It tasted good. Good flavor. The fries weren't bad. I would order the mushroom cheese again. The customer service could definitely be better. My wife stood at the counter for almost 2-3 minutes without anyone even acknowledging her.

Yelp
Shake Shack AMAZING cleaning and masks in place! I've seen so many posts about restaurants not taking Covid precautions or wearing masks I wanted to post about a place that WAS doing a great job! I've wanted to try a portobello mushroom veggie burger at Shake Shack since they opened, but they were closed for quite a while at the beginning of the Covid shutdown. Finally made our way there as my mother wanted a hot dog and cheese fries, and could not have been more impressed with the constant cleaning I witnessed, every staff member there had masks on including their noses, the bathrooms were one at a time and the air blowers blocked off from use, hand sanitizers everywhere you looked, people spread out in the large dining area - we couldn't have felt better about deciding to give them a try! And the Purple Cow (vanilla and grape soda) reminded me of being a kid again! The food was great, the staff were so friendly and asked us twice could they get us anything - it was such a positive experience! There ARE places doing it right out there. Those are the ones I want to reward with my business!
