The University City Lunch Guide

"Yes, Shake Shack is a country-wide burger chain. Regardless, it’s still a solid option for lunch in University City. The burgers are great, the cheese fries are even better, and if you leave without a milkshake, you’ve done Shake Shack wrong." - sydney mcelwee

Shake Shack Review - University City - Philadelphia - The Infatuation

"Yes, Shake Shack is a country-wide burger chain. Regardless, it’s still a great option for a quick meal in University City. The burgers are great, the cheese fries are even better, and if you leave without finishing all of that off with a milkshake, you’ve done it all wrong. You might not feel great afterwards, but that’s the gamble you take when you eat a large amount of fast food in a 30-minute sitting." - Sydney McElwee

All we wanted is to get some good burger and a friendly staff but instead we got two butter soaked buns and half burned burgers!! When we placed the order the guy who took out order didn’t even asked if we want it on a tray or to go he just assumed IT WAS TO GO! Also we paid for 4 shack sauces and they gave us only two! When we asked from them to put it on a tray the girl that was handing it out made a mad face and gave us only one tray when we asked for another one she was mad but didn’t say a thing just another unpleasant face. Then we asked for two more shack sauces since we paid for 4 but got only two then the guy that took our order brought three and tossed them on our tray. This is so disrespectful behavior we will never return again! Not to mention that the ketchup and water area looked neglected and they didn’t fill anything over there! If I could put ZERO StARS I would have but it didn’t let me do the review like that! Also added a picture of the burger that was half smushed that’s not the way to serve a burger! Also when we wanted to order we waited politely by the register to order and no one approached us so I asked them if we can order from one of the staff members and they said order from the kiosk! I replied and said I need to pay cash so the guy that took out order didn’t a face and was annoyed by it and “did us a favor” and took our order.. AGAIN THIS IS NOT A RESPECTFUL WAY TO TREAT CUSTOMERS! Definitely ZERO STARS!!!!

Google
I absolutely love this place! I don’t eat meat so I only get the Chicken shack sandwich and cheese fries! They have the BEST cheese fries of all the pizza places I have tried hands down! Milkshakes are good! And I love their specialty drinks! Customer service is always great as well!

Google
While the place did look nice, the food and service weren't the best. I only ordered an Avocado Bacon Chicken with no pickles and sauce on the side, and they had messed up my order 3 times in a row. First, there was extra sauce, then they forgot to put the avocado and bacon on my burger, and then they gave me extra pickles. The sandwich actually tasted pretty good even though I really dislike the taste of pickle juice, but the worst part was probably the service. The girl in front definitely isn't fit for her role. Barely spoke up, stared at you in silence, didn't bother to greet you, and couldn't call out names loud enough for people to properly hear despite the small waiting area. Even when I was asking her to repeat herself and was very obviously leaning in to hear her, she didn't make an effort to move closer or speak louder. Later on, I was asking her for some ketchup, and I must've taken too long to speak because she just walked away from the front when I was mid-sentence? I should've just ordered at the kiosk. The man in charge of organizing orders behind her was much better, and he apologized in her stead for everything in a voice that was *above* a whisper. He was the saving grace of that entire experience. Depending on my mood, I might be back just for the food and calmer upper floor dining area, but I definitely expected better for my first experience there.

Google
I'm not sure if they got a new cook but my burger was pink and the bun was so wet from all the grease. I was on my lunch break and only get 30 mins so I couldn't take it back by the time I got back to my building and began to eat it. I'm Very disappointed and wasted my money. The one guy on the side with the grill was talking about the other employees on night shift with the girl on the other side and they were both cursing. Very trashy since you are at work and have customers in the store. Do better and definitely get a new cook.

Google
Walked over here while waiting on our train to Absecon. We very rarely eat any kind of fast food and since we spent 5 hours on a plane, we were hungry. It worked in a pinch. Good quality chicken sandwich and fries and fast service. This is located over by Drexel Univ. and a short 10 or 15 min walk from the 30th Street station.

Google
quick and fast for a burger 🍔 fix. was not too crowded and got my order in 5 or so min. tuck in! the fries are super yummy....so crisp on the outside and just nicely cooked on the inside...how??!?!

Google
My friend and I stopped at this Shake Shack on Walnut Street near Drexel's campus. My friend ordered a double Shack Shack burger which comes with cheeses lettuce tomatos onion on it. He also got the Vienna beef hot dog while I got the chicken bites. We both shared the food and agreed that it was much too greasy. My chicken bites were tender and moist. After 2 I removed the too moist breading. Couldn't finish my dog just too overcooked n greasy. My friend didn't want to finish the burger because of the grease but did because he hates to waste food. Very disappointed because just saw a listing of the top chain burger joints in America and Shake Shake was number one. 😞

Google
I don’t frequent Shake Shacks often probably my second time ever having them. I got the Korean Sweet and Spicy chicken sandwich, fries, and the vegan chocolate shake. All the food was fresh, hot, and delicious. Only issue with the sandwich didn’t look quite like the display pic, I felt it could have had more of the coleslaw on it. The shake I wish I would’ve gotten a large!! The workers were friendly, but the wait area is vert small, just glad it wasn’t crowded.

Yelp
3/5 Needs More GF/DF Options + Wine Consistency Stopped by Shake Shack University City hoping for a solid experience, and while the team was hustling, there are some gaps that stood out. Food & Menu: They really need to expand their gluten-free, dairy-free, and soy-free options. If you've got dietary restrictions, you'll be left with very limited (if any) real choices. Also, the drink menu listed three wines, but only one red was in stock--disappointing when you're trying to pair with your meal. Service: The kitchen staff was moving fast and staying on task, which I respect. But the pace of incoming orders clearly outpaced the flow. It might be time for more hands on deck or a smarter prep system during peak hours. Atmosphere: Pretty standard Shake Shack vibe--nothing bad, but nothing memorable either. Great effort from the staff Needs better dietary inclusivity Don't list items you don't have in stock

Yelp
My family and I eat here occasionally and most of the time it has been pretty okay. For us the burgers have been good (pretty standard), their fries are good, and their space is okay. We tried their cherry blossom shake which did not taste like cherry blossom, but more like vanilla cherry... It tends to get crowded downstairs where you order, and people tend to just wait around for their food and it gets disorganized. Upstairs is much better with pretty spacious setting.

Yelp
Overall the food was delicious. The shake was so decadent. Wow! I enjoyed their chicken sandwich in the past and this was no different. Only downside is it is a little small for the price. Kiosk ordering was simple and we got to use a coupon from the app for a free milkshake.

Yelp
Really busy as I arrived as a big game was upcoming at the nearby Palestra. The crowd inside as I approached was big enough to be an initial deterrent. The order kiosk at the counter is largely intuitive and makes ordering quick. The place was packed and orders were getting sent for App drivers, names called out for dine in and similarly for take out. The manager calling names did a great job. One thing that didn't work, the kiosk order says you'll receive a text when your order is ready....I did not and needed to be in ear shot. Overall fast and efficient. Found seating upstairs.

Yelp
Pretty great establishment! Happy with the upstairs seating and heating at this location. Fries + double patty shack burger was also done pretty well and quickly.
google avatar

Yelp
We got the hamburger/portobello mushroom sandwich add the grilled chicken sandwich. Both were delicious, but pretty sloppy. We were at home so it didn't really matter.

Yelp
Shake shack can do no wrong. Love their burgers. Had their truffle burger and fries this time and it was pretty good. Different from the other shake shacks in the city, there's a second floor with some table games. I was expecting a crowd because of the surrounding universities but it wasn't bad at all. Service was like any other place. From what I remember, 2 tablets to order from but also a cashier.
google avatar

Mark H.

Yelp
First time eating there. Wish we had one closer but was with the stop. Just get a burger and fries. Oh, and a shake.

Gianni

Yelp
the fries and the chicken sandwich filled me up but the fries weren't seasoned enough for my liking. I ordered the cheese fries and their was only cheese mostly in the middle, my friend nd i are very upset and disappointed. like be so fare 2/10 rating

Yelp
In comparison to other fast food burger places it's very slightly above average. The burger meat is good and flavorful and the toppings are fresh and distributed well. The shack sauce however is a let down. It's fine but other fast food burger places have better. The fries are also a let down and lower tier in terms of fast food. Surprisingly their chicken nuggets are solid and would compare them to chic fil A's
google avatar

Kristin P.

Yelp
Another excellent Shake Shack location! There is an upstairs with tons of seating and also some tables outside. Great food and quick service. What's not to love about Shake Shack?!
google avatar

Ray L.

Yelp
Above average fast food place in the area but their self ordering on iPad just never works and the line is long. The staff attitude is passive aggressive and I just have an overall worse experience here than other locations
google avatar

Liz B.

Yelp
Same great quality as other Shake Shacks I have been too, between the Penn and Drexel campuses. Seating upstairs. Would definitely go back.

Mary Z.

Yelp
My favorite fast food burger. Has great sauce for the burgers. Fries and shakes good too. Little expensive for fast food but I'm never disappointed.

Olivia M.

Yelp
I ordered on the kiosk and put in my number for them to message me (like I always do) and waited for 40 minutes for my food. No one ever texted me and my food was cold when I got it.

Yelp
Shake Shack is fast food heaven. They have Abita root beer on tap! Their crinkle cut fries are probably my favorite French fry. I always either get their burger or fried chicken sandwich. I always ask for pickles on the burger because for some reason their burger only comes with lettuce and tomato (but don't worry adding pickles is free). When I order the fried chicken sandwich I always ask them to slip a few tomatoes on it (again, adding tomatoes is free). Because I always order the Abita root beer I have actually never had a shake from Shake Shack. I guess this means I need to go back for a shake! The food here is definitely pricey. The burger is $6 and their fried chicken sandwich is $7. So come prepared to spend way more than what you would at McDonalds. Pricey but worth it!

Yelp
This was our first visit to a Shake Shack, after hoping to do so many times earlier. In the past, we'd get there and find the lines way to long. This was our first visit to the University City franchise, and it was before school starts, so it was only mildly busy around 2pm. The food did not disappoint! The burgers are phenomenal, with outstanding patties and super fresh buns, tomato and lettuce. I personally and NOT a fan of mayo, but I figured if they have their own burger sauce (Shack Sauce), I should try it. It was actually really good and made the burger unique from others. I'd recommend getting it with the sauce even if you're not a big mayo person like me. My daughter got the chicken nuggets, and they were great. And as expected, the shakes were outstanding. The food prep was probably about 10 minutes, which seems a little long. But this is not a fast food burger. It's worth the wait since everything is fresh. Think of it as gourmet fast food. The service was very pleasant, and they had ample outside and upstairs seating when we were there. Hope to go back again and bring the whole family next time!

Yelp
I love Shake shack, I really do but last night I had a less than stellar experience. Did not want to wait 45-60 minutes for door dash delivery so I hopped in the car with a friend and headed over, whilst placing an order on their site for pickup. I filled my cart with items, two burgers, cheese fries and beverages, $30, but the mobile site was garbage would not let me place my order. Apparently you have to use the app. Ok, fine, but ergh. I hate companies forcing you to download an app for a one time purchase. Ample parking outside at 10 PM on a Thursday. Entire spot filled with students and delivery drivers, for a good reason. Shake shack is bomb, right? I order, the wait was really long for fast food. I saw plenty of burgers and sandwiches just chilling in their hot food area. I watch my order get packed up, the cheese for the fries go into the bag. The bag was checked by several employees and sat for at least five to seven minutes before it was passed to me as they were so busy. Hop in the car drive 1.2 miles home not even 10 minutes, Park right outside, get up to my apartment unpacked the goods and we are missing the fries, The burgers were completely room temperature not even Luke warm (keep in mind it is early spring, it's not cold out!), not enough salt (trust me, and I'm not a salt fiend, but they just needed a shake or two to really bring out the flavor of the meat) and our beverages taste strangely watered down and bland, as if they were given far too much ice. But shake shack is bomb, right? Not when you're missing part of your order, the burgers are not hot nor fresh, they're under salted (oi!) and your drinks are weak sauce. A phone call to the manager on duty explained we would have to come back for the fries but they were very gracious about the whole experience and offered to refund me. Still, when burgers are what you CRAVE for dinner and the experience is so incredibly frustrating, it was not ideal.

Yelp
I'm a huge fan of the Shake Shack app, which launched in early 2017. When it first came out, they gave away a free single Shackburger to each new app user. It's super easy to use. You can put in an order now or schedule it for a later time and you'll get a text notification when it's ready for pick up. Because this location is within Drexel's campus, I always do this during lunch time, so I don't waste time in the line with other students. If you don't take your meal to go, they have plenty of seating upstairs and some tables outdoors. When it's especially nice out, they sometimes have a pair of cornhole boards set up. To be honest, their burgers are a bit pricey, but I would say that it's worth it based on the quality of their fast food. Don't forget to add an order of fries! The crinkle-cut really complements the burger and is perfect for scooping up condiments.

Ben C.

Yelp
Service is very slow here and if you order something extra like bbq cheese fries, theyll add like a pinch of cheese and sauce
google avatar

Yelp
Who doesn't like burgers and milk shakes? The shake shack has this fast food business done right. Putting it between to major university's and the line goes out the door. Menu ordering off the wall or from menus they had to you. It's still a walk up window fast food restaurant. We choose burgers and chicken sandwiches with milkshakes. Order what you like on you sandwich don't worry if you forgot to add your favorite sauce they have a station for that. Lots of good choices for shakes we went with the black and white and chocolate. Both thick and creamy. Add fries to the meal and lunch is complete. Lots of tables to set at either outside or on the second floor were you will find the games to play while you wait to be called to pick up your order. The restaurant was clean and friendly. Sorry can't do more than three stars because it is fast food. However it is better than most others.

Yelp
Updating and adding because CS reached out to make sure I get to try something I would love at Shake Shack! Will go back this week and update with the low down. Thanks so much for listening to Yelp users. Tried again with some extra restrictions-- I asked for no bun, and without prompting, they wrapped it in two pieces of lettuce for me, creating the ideal way to still feel like I was eating a burger! Super juicy and thicker patties than I remember, as well as the shack sauce. I'd say stick with the double patties and cheese for the best experience. Shakes are consistent from my friends perspective, and workers fit in a lot of orders during lunch and dinner rushes!

Yelp
The chick'n shack is my go to item on the menu, make sure to ask for some extra herb mayo on the side. I also love their all-beef hot dogs, my recommendation is get one of those with some cheese fries (cheese on the side). They'll give you a cup of cheese that you can dip both your fries and hot dog in. Delish combo! And finally, you can't go wrong with their shack burger. The sandwiches feel smaller than your average burger, so you should probably be ready to get 2 to get full. It can be a bit pricey, but worth it for the sandwiches in my opinion, however I'm disappointed to see a place that has "shake" in their name would charge so much for one. All in all, if you're craving a burger or a chicken sandwich, this is a great spot to go eat and hang out. This shake shack is in west Philly near the Drexel campus, there's some metered street parking infront of it but typically tough to find a spot so if you're driving there, make sure to leave some time to find a spot. I really like the design of this shake shack, it has two stories where you can order downstairs then go sit either outside on a nice day or upstairs where there's ample seating. While you're waiting on your food, there's a foosball table upstairs which is a great way to pass the time!
google avatar

Yelp
Shake Shack is probably some of my go-to comfort food, which hurts me because it is so expensive. I definitely save it as a special treat because I do not have the budget to eat it often, but their Shroom burger is probably one of my favorite veggie burgers since it doesn't try to be healthy. It's just as indulgent as any cheeseburger you could think of. The shakes are also a highlight here, I live the custardyness of their ice cream. This place is a cool chill hangout for university students who are looking to destress over burgers and beer.
google avatar

Amber S.

Yelp
This was my first time ever trying Shake Shack and wow, wow, WOW is this place reallllllllly good! The only reason I'm taking a star off is because the cashier was extremely rude and seemed to be in a very bad mood. As insensitive as this might seem when you're working with people whatever you're going through is to be left behind you once you enter the job and begin dealing with your customers. Please, don't bring your bad mood into this. But, let's get back to the food shall we... Oh my, AMAZING. The burger in particular was just really good to me. I've tasted fast food burgers, restaurant burgers, burgers on the grill and even the "famous" In&Out burgers and I must say Shake Shack may in fact be in the top lead for burgers that I've had in all honesty. I mean, everything in that burger was just good. I just had the regular Shake Shack burger and that was so delicious so I could only imagine what the more detailed burgers were like. This place is good and clean as well and there was a guy, I believe maybe like an assistant manager or something and he was just extremely friendly. He kept coming around asking if we were fine and if we needed anything else and I thought that was very nice. I would def come back to this Shake Shack. Even with the rush of the Drexel move in they were very fast and somewhat organized.

Yelp
I've been to a few Shake Shacks and this is the best one. I was in the area for the weekend and it was near my hotel. I was starving like Marvin and needed some grub, I got the chicken shack with fries and an orange float (I've got a thing for orange floats). This location does the best orange floats out of all of the Shake Shacks (the other locations were in the DC area). I had two while I was there for the weekend which I wouldn't typically do. The chicken sandwich was pretty good--I'm not a fan of chicken breast but it was tender and juicy--not dry at all. I also got a hotdog on my last day. The manager came by and asked if I was enjoying my meal--I hadn't had any manager at the other Shake Shacks approach me before. I thought that was a nice touch--I always appreciate when management reaches out to their customers. If I'm in the area, I'm definitely going back to Shake Shack.

Yelp
This is my second time at a Shake Shack franchise. This time I ordered a Shack Burger with medium fries. The wait was not long, with the line moving along efficiently. I was given a device that would vibrate once my order was ready. There were patio space and few tables downstairs but upstairs, where I ended up, had a good window view as well as plenty of tables to sit. The burger itself was good - well cooked and wasn't soggy. The quantity of the fries were a bit more than I anticipated but taste-wise, it was pretty good - crispy and not too salty. I recommend coming here for not only the burgers but to hang out - definitely more than enough space to chill as you eat.

Yelp
For fast food, Shake Shack is one of my top picks to grab a burger for major taste and flavor. For a heads up, the burger can get pricey if you order a double, which is around $8-9 without tax. I ordered a shake on top of the burger and my total was close to $15. This place is pricey but I guarantee you that it'll taste more fresh and juicer than a regular burger at a typical burger joint. Here, you won't be reaching for a bottle of ketchup to moisten then burger. The ketchup bottle will be reaching for the burger cause it's dripping with goodness. There is also a few stuff to do there if the line is big like foosball or shuffle board. Peep this place out.
google avatar

Breana L.

Yelp
We got the single shack burgers with cheese and also had a side of bacon cheese fries. Service is moderate but it was busy when we went so it was understandable. Atmosphere is nice and there's games to play upstairs.

Yelp
So, I was coerced into eating a meal here again. Since graduating Drexel, I wanted to try it again for old times sake. I popped in on a Wednesday night to check out their quizzo, which I was late for. You order on the first floor and they give you a buzzer so you can grab a table upstairs and chat while waiting for your food. I just watched the quizzo game and guessed the answers with my boyfriend. I thought the questions were a little too easy from what I remembered. Soon enough, our buzzer went off. Man, the food here is a calorie bomb. I always thought of Shake Shack as a healthier, or at least more mindful joint to get a burger at. I'm a vegetarian and ordered their 'Shroom burger. I forgot that thing was filled with cheese. It was tasty, the cheese is so ooey googey. Obviously this place is not cut out for a vegan, which kind of sucks. I do wish they had a healthier option for a veggie burger but this mushroom burger is a lot better than I remembered. The fries are super crunchy and crispy and tasty. The milkshakes are a little small but oh so tasty. They have a rotating flavor that is changed out once a week and I just happened to be there for the Chocolate Malt Cheesecake flavor. Yummm this was delicious! I might have had more than my share cause I was splitting it with my boyfriend. The total for all the food (pictured below) was around $27, which is a little high for a burger joint so you can't really come here that often without breaking the bank or getting super fat. But, you will leave full and happy from all the delicious food. Guilt comes later on the train ride home and you calculate the calories you just ingested (I don't recommend it haha).

Yelp
I said I love cheese, so crispy crinkle fries with a side of cheese please. I had a hard time going back and fourth between a 3 and 4 star rating. While the hype is there, if you live near a Shake Shack, there's nothing too special. But I know if I moved, I'd miss it. Super contradicting. The food is good, the burgers are made to order and the fries are light and crispy with a lot of salt. For me, I've always had a good experience but one time I got a really raw burger even though their meat is already really thin. Luckily, they cooked a new one right away. The lines though are super long and the cost of eating here is expensive for a small amount of food. If you've never been, you should definitely go to try the shack sauce and milkshake but other than that, I'd rather spend the $15 dollars at a sit down restaurant and grab a burger, fries and a beer for the same price.

Yelp
I only went for shakes so the review will be on that. My son tried the Pink cherry blossom shake, he's still talking about it so I guess you have an idea how that was. He did offer me a "small sip" and it was surprisingly good. He did mention that it was missing the pink chocolate curls from the picture so, tighten up Shake shack. I ordered the black & white shake and it was just that. Cold chocolate and vanilla shake, no plot twist there. I was surprised that I was charged $11 for 2 shakes. I included pictures. Although I got what I asked for, I'll keep my eyes out for other ice cream shops in the area, it's Summer and we like shakes too much to pay that price for them everytime we crave them.

Natalie H.

Yelp
Shake Shack was the place to go for dinner, and I wasn't disappointed. The burgers tasted fresh and the milkshake was good. Even though the fries were mediocre, I was happy with my dinner!
google avatar

Shelby A.

Yelp
I mean, shake shack is delicious. I like it as an option when I don't want fast food (as Shake Shack is definitely better quality), but don't want to spend a ton on a huge gourmet burger. A nice in between if you will. Both the burgers and dogs are delicious here. If you like spice, I suggest adding the hot peppers from the smoke shack burger onto any other item on their menu. You also cannot go wrong with the fries. My husband loves the smokeshack burger, and I really like it as well, I sometimes like more simplicity on my burger (depends on how I am feeling), so I often get the shack burger and steal some bites of his smokeshack. If you don't want meat, the 'shroom burger is delicious. The portobello mushroom is seriously STUFFED with melty cheese. Just be careful with the first bite, that cheese can be hot! If you can't choose, you can get the shack stack which is both a 'shroom burger and a burger patty in one burger. I usually go for a burger, but sometimes I like the hot dogs or chicken dog. All delicious and hit the spot when you are craving a hot dog or not hungry enough for a burger. I also really like their chicken and hot chicken sandwiches. I highly suggest trying them if you want to get something besides a burger but are too hungry for a hot dog! My favorite of the two types of chicken is the hot chicken; but both are pretty solid. They also have great frozen custards (aka concretes) and milkshakes. They also have new flavors every so often that are seasonal, a nice treat when you are in the mood for something sweet! Another nice thing is that they have beer and wine for when you want an adult beverage. A nice option without having to go to a restaurant full bar. This location can get a little busy, so ordering and waiting for your food can take a but of time sometimes, but if you avoid the lunch rush, you are golden. Also, they have a lot of seating upstairs and even some tables outside for when it is a nice day. A great option in the area.

Yelp
Employee was very friendly and complimented me and my friends when we walked up to order. Food was good as well!

Yelp
i'm giving it a four star rating because of the service, the food wasn't as good for the price they gave you pay.. i liked the cheese fries a lot so you should order that

Yelp
This was probably the most disorganized, unfriendly and questionably clean Shake Shack location I've visited. We popped in on Sunday night for dessert and the cashier seemed bothered to help us. We received a buzzer after placing our order and stood near the staircase to wait. In that time, I took in the surroundings and was unimpressed by the cleanliness of the counters, floors and other surfaces. Meanwhile, an employee who was collecting metal trays clanged them together loudly as he walked around the restaurant. Our desserts were the only saving grace, though the employees could probably use a refresher. My ice cream cone was a bit wonky (but delicious, nonetheless) and my husband's shake was paltry; the cup was only about 2/3 full which was kind of lame. We were in the area which is why we visited this location, but I would pick another Shake Shack location in the future.

Yelp
Horirble. Ordered two fries and a couple drinks. First of all the service was horrible, when they called her name, they act very annoyed when we came to pick it up. When I received my order fries had a weird Brownmark on them and had a couple flies roaming in the restaurant that landed on my fries.

Yelp
The outright growth by Drexel since I graduated not so long ago simply amazes me. Next up on its growing campus is Shake Shack. Considering the previous dining options, I have no doubt students will have anything to complain about with SS. As for me, no longer a student and with the whole city open for dining, I can be a bit more picky. Yes, SS has solid burgers and shakes. Has either location in Philly delivered me the best burger I've ever had. Nope. In fact, they seem slightly below In-N-Out. Of course, SS is a whole lot closer than In-N-Go.

Yelp
My experience at Shake Shack was great. Angela helped me out by giving pointers on what to order for first timers like me. So I ordered the single ShackBurger, fries, and the concrete dessert. The menu was organized and friendly. My meal was ready in less than 10 mins which was nice. My burger was cooked medium well which was still juicy and the burger had this cheese sauce which made the burger. The burger isn't too big but just enough. The bread can be a little soggy at times but that's not a big deal. The fries are almost shoe string which is ok because it complements the burger. The grand finale had to be the concrete liberty bell. It had frozen custard with chops of cannoli and other toppings. It's one of the most unique items ever on a burger menu. I will def come back next time I'm in the East coast! Thanks Angela!

Yelp
Was craving burgers, so I went here with a friend to check it out! We got their signature Shack Burgers for around $5.60-something and some fries that were nearly $5. Very small portions for the price of the fries. Burgers were very delicious.! I think the buns were some kind of brioche bread since it was pretty sweet! Very soft buns!! The meat patty was extremely salty, so it was a combination of sweet & salty with the freshness of the veggies. Burgers seemed a lil small for the price, but it was delicious at the end of the day and we were nearly full when we finished. Disappointed with the size of the fries. There wasn't anything special to it, just some cheese and bacon and salty fries. There was a very nice man who helped us with our tray once we were done!! I was a little confused since we didn't expect any waitressing, but he was very kind and friendly!! Awesome service overall. Tl:dr: Buns were small, fries were small for their price, and the salt is intense. (Do recommend you get a drink!!) But I was happy with the freshness and flavor of the burger and the helpful service, so I was happy at the end of the day.

Yelp
It's a shake shack, it's exactly what you would expect. Food is really good for fast food, but also really expensive. Definitely worth checking out if you've never had shake shack, but I wouldn't come frequently. The upstairs area has shuffle board, foosball, and plenty of seating.

Yelp
I am a big fan of Shake Shack so I was pleasantly surprised when I was trying to find parking in Philly. We immediately found where we'd be eating before a show. When we got there it was a 2 story place. You place your order and they give you a buzzer to let you know when things are done. We waited upstairs, since we knew it would be a few minutes. The filtered water tap by the condiments was a great touch, as I am always looking for water. We ordered a shack burger and cheese fries. Absolutely did not disappoint on these items. I liked the condiment bar, both downstairs and upstairs. It was also nice to not be rushed, as it was not that busy when we got there. I would love to try a shake sometime, but am always too full to do so. I would eat here again; hands down.

Yelp
While a little overpriced, shake shack is always my go to if I'm looking for a good burger. I've never dined at the location, only ordered it from Caviar/Uber Eats so I can't comment on the staff. My go to is the shake shack burger, never disappoints. However, the last time that I ordered from here, my burger was a little rare for my liking. Still delicious & will still order from here in the future!

Yelp
My LA homies will shun me for saying this, but Shake Shack is YUMMERS.  Hands down their crinkle cut fries are infinitely better than the soggy In n Out fries (sorry not sorry... I like my fries thick). The hamburger is exquisite- the meat patty always tastes on point and the Shack sauce is indescribable (it's heavenly...that's as specific as I can get). I usually order the Shack burger and I ask them to add pickles (another thing Shake Shack does better than In N Out). Cheese fries are great to try at least once in your life, but I typically stay with just normal fries. Portion size is decent. For the University City location, service tends to be a bit slow during peak lunch hour. There is ample seating both upstairs and outside. It's one of my favorite places to eat with my friends and it is a mere 5 minute walk from my law school.  Ultimately, I can't cross that line yet to say that Shake Shack is better than In N Out, but it definitely rivals it.

Yelp
I think the fries are tremendous especially with the cheese sauce but that is where my love of Shake Shack ends. I find the burgers to be always greasey and the buns to be soggy and practically inedible no matter when I get the burgers. Don't even try to do take out if you want to eat the bun The shack sauce is also very nice Go a step up and hit up Bobby's Burger Palace for a better burger.

Yelp
Very slow customer service. We wait like 45 minutes to get our burgers. Awful service!!!!!!!

Yelp
I was super excited to try out Shack Shake for the first time ever and compare against In and Out from the west coast. I went all out and ordered the Shackburger, fries, and vanilla milkshake. I received a beeper that would beep when my order was ready. When it started flashing, I excitedly went to the counter to claim my burger. Funny that they beep for you when the food wasn't even at the counter quite yet. So here's my verdict of the food and its comparison against In and Out. The milkshake was pretty good, thick and delicious, exactly how I like my milkshakes. I would say that this is comparable to In and Out's milkshakes, so I'll say it's equal. However, In and Out does allow you to order a neopolitan milkshake, but Shake Shack does not. The fries here are thicker cuts and they were the perfect amount of crispyness. I vote for Shack Shack's fries. Now, for the most important part of the meal, the burger. Breakfast was the only meal I had all day, and I was grabbing a meal at Shack Shack around 4pm in the afternoon. I was prepared for the burger to be the best thing on earth given how hungry I was. Unfortunately, I was disappointed. First of all, the burger didn't look too appealing to begin with. It was pretty flattened down as if there was barely anything inside. The burger did not taste that great and the patty was not very juicy. I strongly prefer In and Out's burger.

Yelp
Delicious! ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS! This burger was sooooo goooood! I was skeptical of the sauce, but the hostess made me feel better about it and so I went with having it on my burger. Glad I didn't tell them to leave it off because it was great! Highly recommend grabbing a burger here!
