Shake Shack Victoria Street - Review - Victoria - London - The Infatuation

"A burger and fries from Shake Shack is exactly what you want to eat when you’re lusting after a traditional fast food burger, but want something with ingredients that are actually recognisable. Beyond that, the crinkled fries come with melty cheese on top, and the apple pie custard dessert and shakes are fantastic. There are craft beers and hot dogs on the menu, too. The double shackburger is our favourite (though get the single if two beef patties is too much), and has the perfect ratio of meat to filling to sauce to bun. It’s expensive for a takeaway burger, sure, but for convenience and satisfaction, it’s hard to beat." - David Paw

Where to Find the Best Milkshakes and Milk-Based Drinks in London | Eater London

"Concretes exist in the liminal zone where a milkshake technically starts to become an ice cream. This is actually a very good place to be in indeed. A clever aspect of Shake Shack’s seemingly never ending roll out is the exclusive concrete, whereby each location has its own version, often collaborations with established names like St John or Mast Brothers. One of the most satisfying is the Victoria specific one, with peanut butter, salted caramel, salted peanuts and Paul A Young chocolate, a concoction one imagines would also be satisfying to throw. First milkshakes, then concrete(s) — it’s a slippery slope." - Jonathan Nunn

Fast food that isn't fast or cheap. First and last time eating at Shake shack. I've walked past it many time and always been curious but I left wishing I hadn't. The prices are shocking for "fast food". £25 for a 1 patty burger, normal fries and a regular shake. Oh, and a 40 minute wait despite not being that busy. Check my photos and see for yourself. Does that look £25 worth of food to you? Staff have no urgency. And food is left waiting in the window for 15+ minutes The food is painfully average and the regular shake was so sickly sweet that I couldn't stomach finishing it. Fries are bland & barely salted despite costing a fiver. You'd find something similar at Mcdonalds for a fraction of the cost. Avoid at all costs, even if you have more money than sense.

Google
Tasty burgers and fries, great location! This was a perfect spot to grab dinner before a show. Service was friendly, and despite them being busy, it wasn't too long a wait to get our meals.

Very pleasant place, with very nice workers, polite and helpful. I did not wait for long until I got my food which was also a good point. The food was also very good and no too costly for London. I recommend this place!

I ordered a Chicken Shack burger (Halal), Cheesy Fries and a Chocolate Milkshake I ate in and it came to £21.60. The Chicken burger was nice and crispy and tasted nice even though it was a bit small for the price, the cheesy fries came with a sort of cheese sauce over it which tasted very artificial and nothing like actual cheese, the chocolate milkshake was nice and thick and tasted good. Overall the meal was decent apart from the cheese sauce stuff. Place was busy but plenty of seating downstairs which was where I was. Clean place with friendly staff.

We had been to Shake Shack before and were excited to return, as we remembered enjoying it a lot! My burger, the mushroom and cheese option, was still absolutely perfect—spectacular and the highlight of our meal. However, the other two burgers were more traditional and felt quite average. They were cooked to the right temperature but didn’t stand out—just good, but nothing special. The fries were another disappointment, arriving cold and unremarkable. The service was quick, and our order came out promptly, which was a positive aspect. Unfortunately, the overall quality wasn’t what we remembered, and this visit left us disappointed. While the mushroom burger remains excellent, the rest of the experience felt mediocre, especially given the high prices, which don’t seem to match the quality anymore. We’d come back for the mushroom burger alone, but otherwise, it’s no longer the standout it used to be.

Well well well…. 🤤 truly delicious, so delicious I couldn’t finish it. I wanted to keep it for later but the show theatre would not allow food 😔 🎭 so had to bin the rest… was devastating to be honest 😩 I look forward to returning to London and getting myself another burger. The shack burger yummy 🤤 very good. If you are debating whether or not to eat here.. I say give it a try especially if you are a burger person (I could eat a burger all day every day my fav). Was good. 👍🏻

Google
Amazing experience with Jackson, he walked us through the whole process and recommended the best items. He took very good care of us and regularly checked on us during our meal. Super attentive. One of the best shake shack spots i’ve been too. Very clean, super spacious would recommend 10/10. Quick service aswell. Big up Jackson

Google
I experienced a 5 star service from everyone at the Victoria Shake Shack, particularly by Jaxon (pictured). The food and atmosphere was also excellent. I enjoyed the Shroom burger, but they do have Halal Chicken options, just ask for the Halal menu. 😊

Yelp
On the upstairs wall hangs a picture of the original Shake Shake in New York's Madison Square Park. I remember it well; celebrity chef Danny Myers created a hamburger and shake revolution very much like the McDonald brothers did way back when. Except, Danny produced an ultra high quality product of which New Yorkers couldn't get enough. They would line-up for hours waiting to eat this remarkable burger and consume an extraordinary shake. I remember sending my assistant to wait on those lines (I would of course buy her lunch) until a few minutes before it was my turn to order. I wasn't the only jerk. In fact, assistants made friends with other assistants. Quality was never compromised. Today's Shake Shack couldn't be anymore different. And the Victoria Station location is down there with amongst the worst.

Yelp
First day in Londontown and what do I see? My most favorite burger place! I mean I shouldn't have eaten here because Londontown has so many top Michelin Star places but we had just arrived and were starving. Joe was such a good sport and we got our "usual" we were able to clean a very dirty outside table so that was fun to people watch while we chowed down. The meat definitely tasted a bit different of course but it wasn't was. To this very day no other location tastes as perfect as the Washington Square location where I had my first. Maybe I'm just too sentimental about that beautiful location and the memories associated with that trip back in the 90's. We passed by this location many times during our 3 days in town. Fun

Yelp
I had lunch across the street and then was in the mood for a milk shake. When I saw the shake shack across the street I could not resist going there. I wanted to get a chocolate shake but they did not have them. Instead, I got a cookies and cream milk shake. It was delicious and hit the spot. I would highly recommend trying one if you are in the area.

Yelp
We came into shake shack for a shake. When it came turn to order our food, we were told that the shakes were out. Needed to use the restroom, and that was closed as well. Come on now shake shack, get your act together!

Yelp
I was excited when I stumbled across a Shake Shack in London, I didn't realize that they had them across the pond!! I came here on a Friday night with a friend to have dinner and we had a fantastic time. The streets around us were packed, and everyone was having a good time. We managed to snag a table and chairs and we enjoyed our burgers and fries. The prices were extremely reasonable, and the food was delicious. It's Shake Shack, so they're always pretty consistent at delivering a tasty hot burger. Check this place out if you're in London!!

Yelp
The chicken is super tasty. I had the chicken ranch burger with jalapeños. It was awesome. We also had the jalapeño ranch fries. They were ok. Not spicy at all, and a bit too much mayo for my taste.

Yelp
Came here to order takeout for my family and I after a long day of traveling. This location was conveniently located a block away from our hotel and was one of the only places around still open is at was past 11pm. We are a fan of Shake Shack back home in the US, so we were excited to try it here. But we were very disappointed. First of all, service was slow. It wasn't very busy, but service was still very slow. You could see some of the workers talking to each other or just standing around rather than working. And when we were finally called for our order, they only handed us two milkshakes when we ordered three. As for the food, several things were wrong with our order. We ordered two Shackmeister burgers, which are supposed to come with fried shallots and shacksauce. They came with neither. We got normal cheeseburgers. Nothing on the burger except the patties and cheese. We also ordered spicy chili cheese fries, which I believe is a new menu item or a limited time item. We received normal cheese fries, not the chili cheese fries. Both of those menu items aren't available in the US, so we were excited to try them but received neither correctly. Although we personally don't mind our beef a little pink, it's important to note that all the patties in our burgers were pink in the middle. It was also difficult to check the accuracy of our order because the tray with the burgers was at the bottom of the bag and our orders of fries were on top, so we would have had to take out the whole top tray to check the burgers. We've never had any problems with incorrect orders in the US so didn't really feel the need to, but were very disappointed when we got back to our hotel and saw half our oder was incorrect. Worst Shake Shack experience I've ever had. I do not recommend this location at all. Only reason why it gets 2 stars instead of 1 is because the food was still tasty. Still recommend eating at any of the many nearby restaurants rather than here.

Yelp
I have always steered clear of this place in the states because of the lines. But we walked right up to the register at this one! My chicken burger was actually very good. I was pleasantly surprised. The pickles had strong dill flavor, which I appreciate. It's got good spice. My mom had a burger and she really liked the bun. The sodas are pretty small and I went through it way too fast. The toilet is upstairs, only handicapped is on the first floor. The layout of the seating is very cramped and not good for people who need need space to move around.

Yelp
Why I went to a Shake Shack in London is beyond me when I am from NYC myself where this great chain all started. The menu is exactly the same menu as the ones in the US, with the possible exception of the ShackMeister Burger which I got (I could be wrong on this). It's a pretty standard chain, not very kempt although it looks very nice on the outside. Would advise to try other food that's available in London besides this place.

Yelp
Shake Shack never disappoints. When I came to this location I liked that there wasn't a long line and was given a menu as I walked in. We ordered the Shack stack, cheese fries and a vanilla milkshake. Everything was out within 10 minutes. Although there was not a line to order there were many people already seated so we had to wait for a table. However, within the time our food was ready we were able to find one. I did also notice this location used to have a pitcher of water out but didn't this time.

Yelp
I would like to be a regular enough customer here to find fault, but my single with cheese was delicious. Service was fast perhaps a little disorganized but nothing to complain about.
google avatar

Nerissa W.

Yelp
Ordered their Shack burger at £5.75 with an order of fries at £3. Don't know why the fuss?!! Yes, the patty was fresh. That's it. Fries were meh. Any frozen crinkled cut fried up will taste the same. VAT on food is 20% in London. And we are complaining here in Toronto at 13%. Burger King tastes better, really! Not worth it.

Yelp
Shake Shack has been my go-to when I am homesick and want a taste of American food in London. It's the only place I've found here that does decent iced tea. I've been to several locations, but this one falls flat. I stopped in for an early dinner around 4:30. There was a staff member there to open the door, welcome me in, and hand me a menu, which was a nice touch. There wasn't a crowd or a queue, so I was able to order quickly. The cashier handed me my pager and I sat down. Shake Shack is definitely on the slower side of fast food. Normally, I don't mind this as my food is usually quite fresh. However, at this location, I waited 40 minutes and my pager never went off. I asked about my order at the counter, and it was clear they just forgot to make my meal. There were no forks to be found, so I ended up having to eat my meal with one of their wooden skewers. I would not return to this location. There are tons of other restaurants around Victoria station that have better service, are more affordable, and are just as tasty.

Yelp
Very good hamburgers. The fries could be improved, but overall good food and good shakes. The restaurant seemed to be very popular and was located in a high foot traffic area. Plenty of seating upstairs.

Yelp
I love shake Shack! There, I said it. They make their food different enough to be different than everyo other burger place. On this particular day however, the food was good but the restaurant, in my opinion was dirty and the restroom was beyond nasty. Even the floor was matted with food. I realize they are busy and have a lot of people going in and out but wow! The New York City ones were cleaner, which I didn't even think was possible.

Yelp
Worst Shake Shack I have ever visited. Really loud inside, somewhat dirty feeling atmosphere similar to what McDonald's used to be ten years ago. However, the worst thing was that I got rotten lettuce on my burger! It was just wilted brown and rotten. Disgusting. The staff changed it immediately and made me a new burger and was very friendly, but this should just not happen when you pay this much for burgers! Yuck. Extremely poor quality control. The fries were also very very soggy, not nice at all. I'd recommend staying away from this one.

Yelp
The burgers were delicious. The fries were fantastic, too. Healthy....not so much, but so good! Our Diet Coke was nice and cold but the sprite was warm, which was a bummer.

Yelp
Burgers were as good as NYC. Issue is with the operation - very disorganized and bathrooms are GROSS. Needs more seating

Yelp
I only had a week of meals in London and can think of so many places I wish I'd gone now instead of Shake Shack. But at the time we were at a loss on where to go, Shake Shack was convenient, and we liked it a lot - especially the frozen custard - when we were in New York City. Those are my excuses. My hamburger at Shake Shack was the worst I've had recently. It wasn't juicy by any means. Their new fried chicken sandwich was okay. It could have used some spiciness. The husband thought there was an odd bitterness. The fries were fine.

Yelp
Pretty much the same as New York. Extra seating upstairs. Have English Hot Mustard packets instead of regular yellow mustard. Same tasty burger, staff seen cleaning area consistently. Food ready in reasonable time. Daughter enjoyed her shake.

Yelp
My sister and I came here after a packed day of site seeing and we just wanted something quick to eat before continuing our day. The line was kind of long, and the food took a while to come which is why I am not rating it a 4 Star. The staff were friendly one one offered to bring our food upstairs for us when it was ready. There are two floors for sitting and eating. It was very loud but that might have just been because it was around the lunch rush. For anyone traveling internationally with no data plan, unlike a lot of the other cafes in the area they do not have free WiFi. I always get the veggie burger and Fries which I love. They also had a speciality drink that I believe was peach flavored that I tried which I enjoyed but my sister hated. Otherwise, the food was compatible to the shake shack in the US.

Yelp
Not cheap fast food but decent burgers. The mushroom & chicken burgers are great. The service speed is sometimes a little slow and the portion sizes are not great so often end up getting two burgers.
google avatar

Giovanna M.

Yelp
Good as always. You HAVE to try the new garlic Parmesan Mayo fries ohhhh god these were so good I'm coming back again tonight, can't help it. The single cheeseburger is delicious, I'm pretty sure the bread was baked on the restaurant 15 minutes before I ate my burger.

Yelp
I love shake shack and while pregnant in London i had a huge craving and happen to stumble open this one while walking toward Buckingham palace. Food was good per usual, this placed was so jammed pack I have to say it was a mess. The bathrooms were so dirty. Even with my crazy pregnancy bladder I still did not use it. 5 stars for the food being consistent as the ones in the states that I've had, one star for being unsanitary.

Yelp
Utterly disorganised. We've eaten at Shake Shack before and really enjoyed it, but will not be returning. There was a short queue when we arrived, and it was a bad sign when the teller missed a burger from our order, which we noticed within a minute of ordering and corrected. We were told 5-10 minutes for our order. The kitchen seemed utter chaos. We eventually waited about 18 minutes for our order (and a further 2 for the once again missed burger). In that time, hanging around the pickup area not one order was delivered correctly. Considering that our order (2 burgers, 2 fries, and 2 frozen custards) was messed up twice, you can imagine how bad the rest of orders were. When we eventually got our orders, we then had to return to order cutlery, because apparently that's not left out for customers anymore. When I asked the server "can I have a couple spoons", he gave me one spoon. So couldn't even get that order right.

Yelp
WATCH OUT! I left my credit card in the machine, and instead of returning it to me, someone started racking up fraudulent charges within 30 minutes! Here's what happened: As I was leaving Victoria station....lo and behold...I see Shake Shack, a little bit of home. At least I thought. I just returned from Gatwick retrieving lost luggage...a 5-hour endeavor. So I treated myself. Ordered & paid for my shake, then waited for Uber. Two canceled, so I was standing in front of the restaurant for 10-12 minutes. I didn't know at the time I left my credit card in the machine - it was more than enough time for the employee to return my card! When I got home, I started getting calls that my credit card had been compromised! So instead of returning my card, what an ethical employee should do, they went on a shopping spree at JT GAMES and Footlocker as soon as I left! This isn't solely on management but you have to discover who you are hiring. Wankers...

Vicky R.

Yelp
Not as good as the Shake Shacks I've been to in the States. The burgers are thinner, over-cooked and dry. Mine was cold, even though I snapped it up right away after waiting 13-15 minutes after ordering. Luckily the buns, lettuce, tomato, and special sauce is still up to par.
