Where to Eat Cajun-Style Seafood in Boston

"Quincy’s Shaking Crab is one of several in the Boston area, including restaurants in Newton, Cambridge, and on Boston Common. Newton was the first to arrive, opening in November 2015. Shaking Crab initially used a bag method to blend spices with the seafood, but it now opts for mixing the ingredients together in a big bowl. The restaurants also offer shrimp, catfish, and calamari po’ boys, plus sides of mac and cheese, fried rice, and french fries." - Dana Hatic

My friends and I really enjoyed eating here! Our server was super lovely and the food was delicious. Also, who ever was on aux was eating up that K-pop playlist 😄!

This was our first seafood boil and this did not disappoint! (We love seafood) we thiight all the seafood was perfectly cooked. Never had an overcooked bite. Noodles were good too! We did the all you can eat on a Saturday for $70. Not bad pricing to us

Went here over the summer with my husband and oldest kiddo. The vibe was great, great service and good music, and the food amazing!!! So much so we went back for my younger son’s birthday a few weeks ago. The boils are beyond amazing. Some of the crab legs were bigger then our heads lol. If you’re looking for great sea food I highly recommend giving them a try.

Google
Quality of food and portions are okay. Have definitely had better seafood boil elsewhere.

Google
Ok... so i cook for a living and never in my life had i seen sooo much precooked food. Like nothing that was given to us was fresh. When it's all cooked together? all the flavors are supposed to harmonize there was no harmony. It was trash. STRAIGHT TRASH! WISH I COULD GIVE IT A ZERO.

Went with my husband, heard about this by coworkers. Decided to go to the Quincy location. Not too crowded, a nice quaint place. Service was good. Food was great. Will definitely go back again. My husband loves the crawfish, There was construction across the street, limited street parking. Lots of amazing cocktails!

Google
It was awesome. Me, and my daughter got there before they closed, and we got waited on by theeee best waiter ever Terry. We got free drinks too. The whole catch is what we got. This thing can feed 2-3 people easily. Me, and my daughter didn't even finish it. It's loaded with shrimp, craw-fish, king crab legs, potatoes corn, and we added sausage for $5. The entire meal cost $105, and to me it was definitely worth it.

Came in late evening and got provided service instantly. It wasn’t too busy, and the manager himself greeted and seated us. We ordered a jumbo platter and it came out fairly quickly. Manager also brought out our drinks and was very friendly when holding a conversation with us. Food was quite good - we ordered hot, which wasn’t that spicy to us, so next time we’ll come back for the more spicy option. Overall loved it! Would recommend.

Yelp
Shaking Crab is a local cajun restaurant known for their high quality and diverse seafood boil options. There's street parking nearby and it's located near the Thomas Crane Public Library. The place is clean and hygienic and a great spot for a casual dinner or seafood boil date. Our waiter was super nice and brought us utensils, gloves, aprons, and cleaning wipes after we were done. He also packed our leftovers to go for us and checked in on us to make sure we were doing okay after we let him know it was our first seafood boil. The Be Shellfish was a great option for 2 people - the seafood was cooked well. The mussels were fresh and seasoned well, the shrimp was easy to peel, and the corn and potatoes soaked up the cajun sauce nicely but the shellfish barely had any meat in them and were hard to open. The sides were flavorful and delicious - the garlic noodles were cooked well and were a good amount of spicy. It paired well with the boil. The toasted bread also was great - we placed an extra order since it was so fluffy and tasty. Overall, the price was worth the portion size and this was a great first seafood boil experience in Quincy.

Yelp
For one all the servers were acting confused like why are we confused I don't get it. They don't say on the menu that your bag doesn't come with corn and potato if you get a half pound so when I got my food it was literally just shrimp and I had to ask for the corn and potato on the side and it was just plain and watered down not marinated in the sauce. If you like Capt loui you'll hate this place. It's severely underwhelming as far as flavor, service, and ambiance. Don't even waste your time here. I'm full but not satisfied like I wish I just didn't eat here. The only reason I came here is cause Cap't loui was too full and wasn't taking tables anymore.

Yelp
The restaurant is located in a vibrant neighborhood in Quincy with plenty of restaurants. The staff gives you a bag that includes your utensils, gloves and an apron. I decided to pick a combo with Cajun sauce and kept it regular. The food is pretty pricey but it was delicious. I felt like the combo had a good amount of everything and the sauce was great to dip with! The garlic noodles was a nice surprise and I recommend it as a side. The time we went had limited drink options and I hope they will resolve that soon. It's next to the parking garage which is a plus.

Yelp
My Review from 6 years ago... 5 Stars(Would have given more if I could) This place, this kind of dining is such a breath of fresh air, especially here in Massachusetts. There was a similar place I went to down in Florida and I figured I wouldn't experience that again until I returned. Shaking Crab answered my wish, woooo! You guys are awesome! Whether you get crab, lobster, crawfish, etc. You will not be disappointed, the experience alone will have you begging to come back for more. It's sooooo good that if you turn around after exiting the restaurant, you might be tempted to walk back in. I highly recommend the garlic noodles to start, they're out of this world! The Crawfish & shrimp combo is great, could not finish the 2 lbs but it reheated just fine. If you haven't been here, GO! If you've been here, GO AGAIN! Keep this establishment alive and kicking! ____________________________________ My Review from January 2024 My perspective has drastically changed since. I ordered out this past weekend and let me tell you, we've done this countless times and there a noticeable decline in the quality of the order, the sauce was mostly oil, lackluster flavor of their signature "Shakin'" sauce, a real letdown, so much that we're not excited to return anytime soon, for now I'll follow current reviews and see if anything changes for the better. I'm pretty sure the honeymoons over with this place, all the offerings now seem like a watered down cash grab for the prices you're paying and for the experience you get. I am grateful I was able to partake in their apex of quality while it lasted, it's a sad day for my wife and I, who made this place special when we really wanted to treat ourselves. Prices and Quality - Crawfish, which mostly throw away weight(Claws & shell), at $11 a pound, sure, $13 a pound, maybe, but $17 for a pound, crazy! - Potatoes, you took away the finger potatoes and replaced them with just mush balls that I guess would pass as a spud, as a baked potato, OK but in a boil, c'mon guys!? - Shakin' sauce, cannot really get the benefit of this anymore as you're drowning the flavor in oil which epically dilutes the flavor, no herbs, spices to speak of. BTW, where's the Garlic? I'll answer that, 50% less than in the past, essentially ending this legendary sauce in my opinion. Overall, everything was just "off", never felt like I was having the best version of what this establishment had delivered for the almost 10 years I've been a patron. Sorry guys, you're in the boat with a lot of other restaurants who cannot find other ways to cut corners than lowering quality as well as nickel and dime the customer. If you take any pride in the establishment you built, you should have kept your format you had when you opened your doors. It's a real shame, because I have read reviews before I came in last time, doubting them and then I saw it for myself. Best of luck Shaking Crab and as for my family and friends who adored this spot, we wish them all the luck in finding somewhere else that provides the legacy experience Shaking Crab once delivered. That being said, first time customers might not agree with me and might actually enjoy this place, but man did you all miss out on a truly great thing before it all changed.

Yelp
This eatery never disappoints my family and I! We went lunch yesterday waiting on their inside bench at 3:55, because they open at 4 sharp. We were the only ones in there, but in a Friday afternoon we wanted to beat the rush there. Nina was amazing! We have never had a female waitstaff ever. Nina was so attentive and never over bearing. A perfect blend. We got got some appetizers and a basket of Catfish, which was triple delicious and so good we got one order, but we should have got 2 orders with waffle fries which were sliced thinner than we ever had elsewhere came with a dipping sauce of sweet chili tai . Yes that good! The main reason we came yesterday was for Tai Chili chicken wings omg so freaking good we did get two orders served with sweet chili tai sauce and a side of ranch sauce. Cooked perfectly and we couldn't get enough of them. We were full after this late lunch we took the leftover chicken home for lunch Saturday. Nina thank you for your great service. Can't wait to go back next Wednesday for all you can eat menu. It's on three days but I could only remember Wednesday. Yummy food

Yelp
Great local spot for seafood broil. Ordered here multiple times and no disappointment. Great service and attentive, even with takeouts

Yelp
Ordered the jumbo box of deep ocean, barlic--- because my palate can't handle spicy =( Was not busy at 1830, Sunday. Made me a bit nervous that it wasn't busy. Service was excellent and helpful to the new people in our party. The food was served promptly and steaming hot. It was slightly pricier than I expected, but in no way would that stop me from going again!

Cece B.

Yelp
Super unappetizing. BARNACLES ALL OVER THE CRAB LEGS AND INSIDE THE BOIL ITSELF. Couldn't even eat the food because of how crunchy everything was since it was full of barnacles that must've fell off the crab legs. Everything went to waste.

Yelp
Finally got a chance to try a seafood boil, and it did not disappoint! We got the Total Catch and Maine Course jumbo trays, and everything was delicious and well-seasoned. We only wished we had a bit more crab legs and crawfish, and fewer shrimp haha. But overall, pretty good experience!

Yelp
Ever since the craziness with COVID-19 we haven't been out to one of our favorite spots Shaking Crab in so long! Last night I wanted to take my husband there for his birthday. We arrived for our reservations and were seated quickly. Here was my review this time: 1.) Menu was different; they took off the shack it up where you got all the sides included within the combo. I mean come on if you're already spending $41 + for an entree you should not be gauging $2-4 per side add on. (So yes this was disappointing.) 2.) The waiter messed up our order of food in the bag and the sauces. I ordered Shrimp & Crawfish with HOT Shake it up sauceMy husband ordered Shrimp and King Crab legs with mild Shake up sauce.I got a bag of 2lbs shrimp with mild sauce and my husband got king crab legs crawfish in my very spicy sauce. (My husband doesn't like the spice level I do.) And just stood there instead of fixing the issue/ taking money off the bill or giving us a complimentary app/side. 3.) The proportions of the food/sauce were way smaller than we remembered and we used to come here almost every two weeks!  All and all yes we would come back . And I did tip him 20% regardless of the errors. But when restaurants are hurting during COVID you would hope the chef and waiter would double check the order. It's disappointing to get your meals done wrong.

Sandy F.

Yelp
Overall, the food was good. However, I asked for sausages to be added on,and after about the second bite, I realized it was not a sausage at all, but a hotdog. I called our waiter over and asked him and he said he was gonna go find out if it was really hotdog or sausage. He comes back and tells me that they ran out of sausage three days ago. I again asked, so this is hotdog right? He goes I don't know it was the last one and we already threw the package out so I couldn't check to see what it was.

Yelp
Great for seafood lovers. Great lobster roll. Drinks are like juice (not strong) but drinkable and tasty. They don't do the tank for 4 but still do the mug for 1 or bowl for 2. They won't/can't make you any drink off-menu, even easy ones. Spicy calamari is pretty good. Garlic noodles are awesome.

Jesse B.

Yelp
I want to start off saying there was a good amount of sauce in the bag but the sausage was cut extremely thick (basically a choking hazard) and barely any in the bag , the mussels were badly picked and had stuff inside them , shrimp was cooked alright . The food had my stomach hurting !

Yelp
I didn't want to come here. I wasnt impressed with all the idea - I'm usually disappointed when it comes to seafood spots. This place wasnt that bad. I initially wasnt happy about the price either, but I have somehow been here at least 6 times and I order take out cause I like to be fat at home. (8/17 Saturday hours says closes at 11pm. Came here last night and dude says they're closed. He said that the website says 11, but they stop seating 30min prior to 11. Look at the clock and it was 10:33p. He shrugs, offers to grab the manager to explain this to is. I told him not to bother. He also said that he was off the clock and ready to go.) I never have an issue with this place, service or food. Just a tip.

Yelp
I just wanted to make an updated review just to show that this restaurant is consistent in what they do. They actually have new items on the menu and new specials as well! Every single time I've come here this summer, I would always end up ordering three dozen oysters just to share between two people (along with other food of course). The oysters have always tasted fresh and I have never ever eaten one that was dead or tasted sandy due to uncleanliness. As for the seafood, my go to is still crawfish or snow crab legs. New items on their menu that you should definitely try would be the soft shell crab, lobster quesadilla, and lobster tail burger. I HIGHLY recommend the lobster tail burger; it's a fair lobster tail paired with chipotle mayo. It's honestly a great way to have a burger with seafood. If you want to order the lobster quesadilla, make sure you order it when you eat in because it might get soggy if you do take out. A drink that I've been OBSESSED with would be Life's a Peach with strawberry puree. I know, sounds weird to add the strawberry, but I love it. End your meal with some beignets too!

Yelp
My experience at other Shaking Crab locations was a bit hit and miss. I like the idea of doing Cajun boils of New England seafood: seafood boils are popular on the west coast, for example, the SF Bay Area and NE in my opinion has the best seafood, but somehow the boils I had at Shaking Crab weren't always satisfying, not sure if it is the content or the portion size. So for a pickup at this place, I thought I would start with chicken wings and garlic noodles which were recommended in the app. The wings were excellent - probably the best I had for quite a while, and the garlic noodles were decent too and in a large portion.

Yelp
The Quincy location of Shaking Crab used to be my go to. I typically ordered via UberEats and enjoyed my experiences. However, I think there has been a recent change in management or service in the past year. I would order regularly and my last two experiences were not the same as I have had before The snow crab is significantly smaller in size and lacks flavor. The shrimp, I've ordered both the easy peel and head off shrimp before, come mushy and the head off shrimp wasn't cleaned well in this past order. The sauce (House Shaking Cajun) was my all time favorite but now it's a much thinner texture, different color and flavor. It's just not good or spicy anymore besides the overuse of Red Pepper flakes. Seafood is typically expensive. This order of crab legs and shrimp was over $50. However, the quality of this meal is far from a treat and no longer worth the expense. Maybe the other Shaking Crab locations have maintained their dignity but please save your money and avoid this Quincy location.

Yelp
I will start with this: Service is terrible, Garlic smell al over the place, Anything you order has already garlic sauce, Probably not my kitchen. But after this place I don't like garlic. Thank you anyway.

Yelp
I've been coming here for some years now. It's not as good as it used to be. I still come when I have a hankering for some quick and fast seafood. Can't go wrong with some shrimps( head on), snow crab and corn. It hits the spot. The service is always good and the place is clean. Pretty fast service, as well.

Yelp
Well it was ok. Nothing to rave about. We had a party of 10 plus a baby. They wouldn't seat us till everyone in the party arrived. Then knowing we had a baby they never added a toddler seat. The server was taking our order from one side of the table so we had to scream over the table. The food is alright. The muscles were so weird. Gooey and weird. I've never had muscles like it. It's a ok experience but I've had better I'll pass the next time.

Yelp
Ordered seafood galore which was only available for take out. Great price... $65, you get a order of clams, crawfish, snow crab legs, and shrimp which included potatoes and corns. I ordered blue crab as well but was unsatisfied because it is not fresh. I thought it would be as good as Hook and Reel Cajun Seafood. I still would order from here again... you never know the size of the shellfish you get when order depending the size it was deliver to them and if you like garlic, you will like Shaking Crab.

Yelp
We ordered for pick up tonight, again to celebrate a birthday. We ordered the Maine Course. Lobsters were rubbery, mussels were previously frozen (not fresh); clams were tiny and overcooked. The garlic noodles weren't good, and mac n cheese was too salty. This is the second and last time i'm ordering from shaking crab. There will be no 3rd time.

Yelp
My family and I dined here on a Monday night. It was pretty quiet in here, but maybe it was just that Monday. I had been craving some crawfish and shrimp for weeks, so I was delighted when my aunt asked me to join. Unfortunately, my crawfish and shrimp was okay. The shrimp was good, but the crawfish had this certain taste to it. I'm not sure exactly what it was about it. I could've just ordered the shrimp by itself. Everything else about the place was fine including a nice waiter. It really was just the crawfish that wouldn't compel me to return.

Yelp
This is such a cool place to come to! Had a taste for some seafood, saw this place and the pics on here, and said that looks fun. We were greeted and sat down quickly. We ordered the combo bag with 1 pound of shrimp and 1 pound of crawfish. We also got a lobster tail and added corn. Oh yeah, and a order of the cajun fries. It was all delicious. I couldn't stop digging in the bags to get more. Of all the items we got, the shrimp was my favorite. You'll have to work a lil bit to get the food, but it's all worth it. It can get a lil messy, but that's all part of the fun! I do suggest wearing the gloves provided. This would a cool place to bring people coming into town to visit you. They won't be disappointed. Awesome staff and great place. I'll become a regular customer because I really enjoyed everything about The Shaking Crab!

Yelp
FOOD: 10/10 SERVICE: 9.5/10 AMBIANCE: 8.5/10 RECOMMENDATION: Alaskan king crab + twin lobster tails + corn + sausage + quail eggs + mushroom tips, Seoul Sauce,Medium Spice MAJOR KEY ALERT!!!!! If you've never been to shaking crab then you're missing out on life. This place is straight popping if you like seafood. If you ask me, my favorite would definitely be the Alaskan king crab and the twin lobster tail. So far I have tried their "Shaking" house Cajun sauce and their Sweet Chili "Seoul" sauce which were both bomb af but don't forget to ask for medium spice if you like a little kick to your food. But please, If you can't handle your spice, do yourself a favor and order mild so you don't have to send your food back. In addition to the seafood, they also have a bomb selection of fryer and shakewiches. Being their #1 customer, I have tried everything on the menu so here is my ranking from best to least favorite: lobster roll, fried lobster tail sandwich, lobster cheesy fries, fried chicken sandwich, shaking burger, fried scallop basket, fried soft shell crabs. In addition to the food, they also have a wide selections of drinks that I also enjoy. The strawberry mojito here is straight schmacking. Every time I come here, I have to order at least 3 MINIMUM and I advise you to do the same. I also see a lot of people order the VS passion, fisherman's mug, and life's a peach so that's probably bomb too but I will never know since the strawberry mojito is so good that I don't want to order anything else. Overall, this place is probably one of my favorite restaurants to go to. I'm practically here at least three times a week. That should tell you a lot about this place.

Yelp
Review for takeout. Food is ok but expensive compared to other locations I have been to. Definitely check your order as they forgot our garlic noodles. Had to drive all the way back and staff was so blah. Probably will not go back again.

Yelp
Shaking Crab has finally opened in Quincy. I've been to the Newton location and was very excited when i found out they would be opening up in Quincy, since it's a lot closer to me than newton. Parking is easier, there's a lot of street parking, or you can park in the lot across the street for a couple bucks. Space is definitely bigger than Newton. More room, more tables, bigger area to wait for a table or takeout. Food. Menu is the same. Pick your seafood, choose your sauce, your spice level, and your add-ons. It's still the soft opening, so keep in mind there will be a lot of mistakes/need for improvement especially with the servers. NBD, they're new, still tryna find their rhythm. Just know that you might expect longer wait times, and that goes for both being seated and waiting for your food, your food might go to other tables (there was a lot of confusion of what food went to which table), you might have overcharges on your bill so please be aware. The servers are always 100% apologetic and fix it right away, so please give them a break, they're trying. And for their soft opening, they'll also give you a 10% off your bill! The only reason why i gave them 4 stars instead of 5, has nothing to do with the service, as i mentioned above, it had more to do with the fact that our food didn't come out steaming hot like it did when we went to the newton location. It was a let down since we were expecting our bags of food to come out steaming hot like they should have. We plan on coming back in a few months after the grand opening, when the hype dies down and the staff get more comfortable in their new home.

Yelp
I've been to the Shaking Crab where I live in Brooklyn. This one is even better. We came here after going to Cap't Loui at the Braintree mall, and having to get up & leave after being ignored. This place was a HUGE improvement in ambiance, menu, and waitstaff. The hostess was very sweet and seated us almost immediately. Our waiter Duy was attentive, friendly, and so accommodating when my food was a little too spicy for me. He brought the spice down a little and it was soooo good. The head on shrimp and mussels - delicious. Fried oysters and garlic noodles also very tasty. Will definitely be back. Thanks for making our Father's Day meal so pleasant Duy!

Yelp
The customer service is extraordinary. Lovely people. The manager Simon Manandhar was super nice, explained all ingredients in our food, drinks and treated his employees Tony, Jason and Nia very well. This is a plus for me! The last time we came Leng was exceptional. She has moved on up and now works at the Brookline location. Very down to earth, cleanliness is awesome and food is super duper tasty. This location Is MADAMECRUZ APPROVED!

Yelp
Second time ordering Shaking Crab and they skimped a lot on the order. Last time we paid for the $60 Shaking Crab and enjoyed it but this time we ordered the $120 combo and were very disappointed. We asked for extra corn, potatoes, and sausage and we ended up getting even less than the first time we order (only two corn, five or six potatoes, and five to six sausages) they really skimped on the sides. Not as enjoyable as last time, but I hope they will put more sides in the future. :/

Yelp
Super Kindly Staff! My friend forgot and left his credit card on the table. We left and didn't notice until the waiter yell and rush into us with his card. We wanna thank him so much for this! We ordered shaking snow crab, lobster tails, clams, and mussels. They match perfectly with the Cancun sauce! Definitely will come again! Happy new year!
google avatar

Yelp
We went here because we had a taste for seafood...I was amazed at the flavor that was on the mussels and snow crab legs because people normally don't season them well unless they are from Maryland but they were definitely full of flavor. I got the snow crab leg bag with the gulf seasoning and the corn. It was worth the price and nice and messy so you can't be cute and eat here...put your bib on lol Cons- it was an hour wait and they need music

Yelp
Tried to order over pick up over the phone. They said they only accept UberEats and Doordash. I asked what I didn't have either, they said just order over the app, it's easy. I asked why I can't just place an order over the phone and pick it up, they said "Cause Coronavirus." and they hung up. Thanks.

Yelp
Tried Shaking Crab for the first time tonight on the recommendation of my 9 year old nephew who apparently gets out more than me. Online ordering initially said 18-25 minutes but after I ordered, the confirmation text was at 40-45 minutes and when we arrived, the order still wasn't ready for another 10 minutes. 1 star deduction for all that nonsense and because we asked for sauce on the side and it came on it. But onto the actual food! Skip the chicken fingers. 5 pieces of nothing special chicken for $10. There are definitely better fish options to try for that price. As fir the fish........We knew we were getting the Cajun seasoning because the nephew insisted and convinced us it was good. It was! Super flavorful, maybe slightly heavy on the garlic but....we love garlic. We were debating which box to get, worried about if the least expensive would have enough food but we went with the cheapest one, the $76 Seafood Galore and we are so glad we did because it is huge! The picture doesn't do it justice. I'm pretty sure it's a full lb each of mini-clams, crawfish, jumbo shrimp and snow crab legs along with about 4 halves of corn and a bunch of fingerling potatoes. 3 adults and a kid couldn't finish it and we tried our best! One word of caution is with the clams. They are tiny and the shells are brittle. Watch out for broken pieces. Other than that, definitely try it if you're in the area. I will definitely be back to try their other sauces.

Yelp
This location does not have it listed online that everyone in the party must order the all you can eat special. We learned about it online and came in with children ages 1,3,5 and 12 who were not going to eat all they could eat and were going to get kids meals and 3 adults that were going to get all you can eat. The manager came over and told us that even the smallest children had to get the special or we couldn't do the special. Rather than apologize for not stating such rule online, and letting us still order since the fault is on them, they let us leave. As someone who had managed a restaurant before, I feel thru could've been more accommodating.

Yelp
I've heard about this place for a while and finally decided to try it out. I called for a reservation the day off and they only do reservations at least 24 hour notices (FYI). Which was fine because when I arrived, there was no wait. The menu is kinda confusing if someone doesn't explain it. Just ask if you're not sure. The staff is very nice, friendly and attentive. But let's talk about the food. My friend and I chose like a dinner package, which Included and app, main entree with additional choice of "topping" within the entree like qual eggs, potatoes and two other options. The garlic noodle is amaze-balls. Needless to say, my first experience was awesome and will def return. Try this place out. You won't be disappointed. Come with your bellies emptied. You will leave here FULL!

Yelp
Really happy that we have a Cajun style seafood shake in the quincy area! Now I do not have to go into boston for this food. The House Cajun sauce is good, although I think Loui Loui has the best followed by Holly Crab. I tried their garlic butter but the butter was quite raw and ended up being somewhat unpleasant to eat as it had that raw bite to it. Price point is typical with combos (shrimp+clams) at $19. They don't offer sides either the combos though like some of the competitors mentioned above. I'd like to come back to try their different sauces though!

Yelp
Food is mediocre, price is way over, integrity and customer service is basically non existent! want to spend money carelessly to not get what you want and then not care if they dont compensate you? then this is the place! Customer service definitely needs a major upgrade. professionalism and integrity is absolutely not all there. Do they value their customers or Rely Heavily off stench of people carelessly coming back for no sole purpose other than it being "shaking crab"? Maybe the girl at the front is new and just starting off in the job world. or maybe she was told by her superiors to act unprofessionally. But instead of properly handling a problem and upholding the integrity of their restaurant they rather act inappropriately when a mistake is at their fault. Couldnt even handle a simple phone call. My line disconnects and when i attempt to call back my number is now blocked?... what wonderful sophistication of an establishment! so i call back on another line and they pick up right away LMAO nice try! When there's a tiny dilemma where they could have handled it more mature and intelligently then the problem wouldnt have evolve into something much more bigger than it has to be. Tell sweetheart who was hosting on this day to keep her head up. The world gets real harsh out there. cant ignore and block numbers forever weirdos!

Yelp
Heard good things and so I order from here a while back and got their House Cajun sauce and was not impressed - was not flavorful. I tried again to see maybe if it was just that sauce and got their Garlic Butter with added Mild spice this time and yet again I am disappointed. The only reason why I gave it two stars instead of one is the lobster cheesy fries did have a good amount of lobster and the crawfish was big - but more so big heads so that ends up not being a lot for a lb. If you like seafood you're better off going to Capt Loui or Holy Crab. Don't waste your money here. Will not be ordering again.

Yelp
UPDATE: This food made me violently ill. I threw up just a few hours later. My food was RAW! I ordered the BOGOF blue crab special, and head on shrimp with an add on of mussels. I never got my mussels. My crab wasn't even warm. I then took a bite of one and realized it was raw!! This turned out to be the case with multiple pieces. I had to throw everything in a pan & cook it thoroughly, defeating the entire purpose or ordering out.

Yelp
Come to Shaking Crab for a culinary experience! If you are a foodie, you will love it. A unique concept with great blend of Cajun seafood options (jumbo shrimps, lobster, crawfish, and mussels). More so, ambiance is good and fast service. Pro-tip: Avoid evenings and come during afternoon.

Yelp
If you like seafood, you should try Shaking Crab or other similar restaurants to experience the fun messy eating. It's my second time eating at Shaking Crab, and first time was in Allston, MA. I came to the one in Quincy, MA with my parents. We ordered two Whole Dungeness crabs of both Gulf (rich and tangy, mild spicy) and Seoul (sweet chili miso, mildly spicy) sauces. Both sauces were pretty greasy, but I'd prefer the Seoul one since it's more flavorful and Gulf's sauce was just chili oil... we added quail eggs (3) and corn (2) too. I liked the corn, it was juicy! We also got the combo of 1 lb shrimp and 1 lb crawfish the Envie (cilantro lime) sauce, and added seasonal greens. We barely finished the shrimp and crawfish because we got pretty sick of it pretty quickly. The service was pretty good! The waiter patiently explained the menu to us. We waited about 10-15 minutes for the food. I gave 3/5 because the food's not something that I'd eat everyday. I think there was just too much of the same thing and I wouldn't go back unless my friends/family really want to try it.

Yelp
Came in late Friday night with bae to conquer our serious seafood craving. I've been here multiple times before with friends, and its one of my favorite places to go for seafood and because of convenience. The atmosphere here is definitely catered towards a younger crowd. The music is really good, a mix between hip-hop and trap music. It's a bit loud late at night, so if you're looking for a quiet bite to eat this is not where you'd want to go because it's very hard to hear anyone else. As you can guess, the feel is very casual. My favorite part about dining here is the combos and the specials they have. It's a great deal and for a good price. I ended up ordering a lobster roll and the classic combo for dinner. The classic combo lets you order two types of fries, one type of chicken starter, two bags of seafood for entree, one add on for each bag, and a choice of pasta. We got curly fries and sweet potato fries, chicken wings, two bags of shrimp with mussels (hot gulf sauce) one with corn and the other with quail eggs, and garlic noodles. The garlic noodles are similar to lo mein noodles, very good and super garlicky. The chicken wings are very crispy and moist. Seafood had a nice buttery and spicy flavor. As for the lobster roll, it was good and exactly what I would expect from a casual joint like this one but if you're looking for life changing and over the top this isn't the one for you. Shaking Crab in Quincy is a cool and casual joint that I would recommend if you're looking for cajun seafood without having to deal with the hassle of going into Boston.

Yelp
Do you love seafood? Do you love Cajun spices and spicy food? Look no further and don't even think about other places that has a seafood boil Louisiana style cuisine. Just make a res and come to Shaking Crab. Choose a protein. Choose a sauce. Choose a spice level. Wait for your order to arrive, and dig in. Prep yourself with the bib and gloves tho. :) Seafood is delicious. I get crab and mussels each time with potatoes added in. I always get a side of white rice to accompany the sauce. Sauce of choice for me is hot shakin' cajun. Bruh, this is the best sauce (to me tho). Service is great, restaurant is clean, and make a res before coming as the place gets packed real quick.

Yelp
Just ordered through doordash. Food was delivered promptly but it was subpar. The noodles had a piece of plastic in it and the calamari smelled of old oil. I want to support local business but the food can be made with proper precaution especially when it's not that busy.

Yelp
First time here and we are not going to be shellfish and say we had a crabby time! The setting is cute and chic, my favorite thing was their Shaking Crab in lights in the back room on the wall. We originally heard of Shaking Crab of the Newton location; we never made it there since it is out of our way. Luckily one of my relatives told us about their new location is Quincy and it's much more closer and convenient! The location is in a one way street, there are a few parking spots out in the front (possibly metered, didn't really look haha) but on the weekends, there's a parking lot across that is free parking; that's where we parked and there's plenty of spaces! Word on the street is they always have a long wait, so we showed up right when they opened at 12pm. Definitely the 2nd party of the day and it started to fill quickly. We ordered 1lb of crawfish (aka Live Larry) and 1lb shrimp in their Shaking Sauce (Cajun flavor) ($21). We felt the weight of this bag was a total of 1lb of BOTH the crawfish AND shrimp. We then ordered just 1lb shrimp ($12) which was more than what was inside the crawfish and shrimp combo. We also tried to order their fried oysters and lobster but both waiters we asked said they ran out yesterday. In place of these we ordered a side of fried calamari. The food was superb and their service was excellent. We were checked on by our waiter and the manager multiple times throughout our stay. Services: 5/5 Food: 4/5 Cleanliness: 5/5 Price: 5/5

Yelp
A good place to come with friends or family for a meal, this restaurant mainly serves seafood as well as add ons and special sauces that all get mixed inside a bag so that everything gets coated. There is a variety of sauces but I like the shaking sauce the best. The chicken tenders and chicken wings are both pretty standard but I would recommend asking for sauce on the side. The catfish is also something I really like to get here, having a nice crunchy coating and a nice flakiness in the middle. Some sides I ordered were fried corn and shaking rice (new on the menu). They also serve a pretty good homemade sweet tea as well as having a full stocked bar. There's also a small menu for mixed drinks. The service is attentive and friendly. The entire staff worked together so we weren't left feeling neglected. The set up is also pretty neat with a personal plastic bag with gloves, napkins, a bib, and hand wipes. There is street parking available right out front but if you can't find any, there is a garage right across the street where you can park.

Yelp
They are pleasant and accommodating. I truly enjoy their seasoning--delicious! However, their takeout is disappointing! I got a lobster tail, snow crab, and shrimp combo. The legs were fine, but the shrimp and crab were rubbery and overcooked. You don't want tough, chewy seafood, believe me. Although the combination included corn, the corn was mushy.
