"The incident at Shalimar, a popular Indian and Pakistani restaurant, took place on Saturday, December 8 just before 7 p.m. during the annual drinking event Santa Con. At Shalimar, an employee told SFPD officers that the two suspects entered the restaurant highly intoxicated. One woman told the employee she had paid for food, but hadn’t gotten it, which the employee denied. He refused her service due to intoxication. At that point, the woman began knocking over items at the counter, including the cash register, according to the employee. When he confronted her, she allegedly punched him, and he fled. Then, as the employee says and video footage shows, another woman grabbed a chair and smashed the restaurant’s glass door." - Caleb Pershan

I still believe that Shalimar is the best halal food in San Francisco and probably the best South Asian food in San Francisco. Spicy, heavy, full of flavor, and highly addictive!

Very solid. Really enjoyed pretty much everything we tried. Lamb chops we're perfect, karage and biryani was on point as well.

Best briyani! We ordered garlic naan, chicken tikka masala, chicken karahi, sheesh kebab, and goat briyani. Goat briyani was incredible - the meat was tender and the rice was flavorful with right spice levels. Garlic naan was cooked right in front of our eyes and totally loved it. We relished all the items. All the items are decently priced too! Will definitely go back!

The taste of the chicken tikka masala was very authentic! Including the rice! Perfect place for outdoor dining! Highly recommended by me!

Awesome food at a low price. I liked the vegan lentil stew dish with rice. Freshly baked nann is only one dollar!

Probably the best naan in San Francisco. Haleem was alright, but the biryani looked pretty good. I got seekh kabobs and was very happy with it! Definitely one of the good Pakistani restaurants in SF.

Really great flavors! The food is cooked right in the middle of the restaurant, including the fresh baked naan - which I enjoyed. The chicken tikka masala was a bit oily for my taste, and the chicken was on the dry side, but the flavors were delicious! The naan is thick and soft. The daal was great - again the flavors were delicious! BYO containers to avoid plastic, but I did see some meals being packaged in plastic free/compostable containers - depends on what you order.

Delicious and affordable Indian. Great flavors. The service is a little slow, but worth it.
