The 10 Best Hot Pot Restaurants In LA - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"Shancheng Lameizi is a chain from Beijing that specializes in Chongqing-style hot pot. Their spicy beef broth is oily but balanced, with an extra emphasis on the “ma” part of mala (your mouth will be number than after a dental visit). Non-spicy options are limited, but the meat and veggies are on the cheaper side, with plenty of variety. Best of all is the sauce bar. It’s a little pricey at $6 per person, but the selection of house-made sauces, cold appetizers, and desserts makes other places look stingy. The San Gabriel location also has a huge covered patio, and it’s big enough that you won’t have to wait long even on the weekends." - cathy park, brant cox, sylvio martins, andrew ryce, garrett snyder

Where Fly By Jing Founder Jing Gao Eats the Best Sichuan Food in LA | Eater LA

"For hot pot in San Gabriel I go to Shancheng Lameizi, a Beijing chain where the soup bases and all the ingredients are on point; they give nice snacks and appetizers like peanuts and other crunchy things, and I always look forward to the puffed-fried pastry they hand out. They even have a dessert bar with white lotus seed soups, bing su, and iced clear jelly with brown sugar to help alleviate the spice, and their nine-grid hot pot offers that many different soup bases — it’s my go-to hot pot." - Matthew Kang

Usual place closed so we tried this place out and it did not disappoint. Cover is around $3 per person and there’s a full toppings bar with snacks and desserts. Plenty of meat options and lots of vegetables. Vegetables are priced around $3-6 an order. Meats are priced around $10-15 an order but they also have lobe and wagyu which is a lot more. Pitcher of beer was around $11. Overall the soup base was good, we went with mild and plain. Still had a good kick to it! I’d recommended getting the combos to try things out and then order what you want after. 6 people, lots of food, a couple of pitchers of beer. $40 a person was the damage. Do note parties of 5 or more automatically incurs 15% tip. Bonus points- bathroom has toothbrushes in case your mouth stinks from all the garlic and heavy sauces you use!

Hot pot is pretty goos, very authentic and reminiscent of the ones in China, especially Chongqing.

This is one of the most authentic Chungking hot pots in the area. Extremely popular and always crowded while at the meal point. We visited there early to avoid waiting. There was a buffet bar that served traditional Chinese snacks. We ordered a half & half pot with mild spicy and tomatoes, which we would recommend this combination if it was your first time trying Chinese hot pot. The environment was super clean and well decorated with stylized Chinese elements. Angus Beef and Fresh Beef were the dishes we would recommend most when ordering ingredients for the hot pot. They were both luscious and fresh. With sesame oil and garlic, which we got from the sauce bar, it was such an enjoyment. Parking here was free!!

Went here on Monday 2pm, didn’t have to wait for seating hehe. We ordered a half & half pot with mild spicy. And we also ordered Fried Tofu Skin ($4.95), Pork Intestine ($6.95), Handmade Yam Pasta ($4.95), Angus Beef ($11.98), Fresh Beef ($7.95), Pork Blood ($4.95), Quail Egg ($4.95), Chinese Cabbage ($2.95), Spinach ($2.95), Lotus Root ($4.95), Sweet Corn ($2.95), Enoki Mushroom ($4.95). Really satisfied with most of these food, especially the Fried Tofu Skin, Lotus Root and Sweet Corn! And the Fresh Beef was not expensive but had high quality.😭❤️ However, the flavors of Angus Beef and Pork Blood weren’t as our expectations.☹️ Both spicy and bone soup pots were amazing, and the veggies were fresh and delicious cooked with the bone soup! There’re also multiple choices for sauces and free Chinese snacks.💕 Love this restaurant and will definitely come here again!

This Chinese server lady is very rude. I wouldn't expect much from her but it was raining and we arrived 10 mins before opening. So i asked her if we could stand inside because it was cold and wet. She commanded us to go back to our car. This place was my favorite place until today ..... No server should command or demand the customer . At least ask or be polite about it. Also noticed the chef don't wash their hands and they always spit and cough without covering their mouths. Foods good though if you don't mind the sanitary conditions. Sometimes they have their finger nails touching the food when they serve you too.

Loved the beef and spicy!! We didn't do all the bone marrow bc that would have been too rich but the peppers and beef have so much flavor. I loved the sauce bar...sesame oils and garlic and all the goodies. Great for mixing to dip things in. I loved the fish balls, shrimp and steak. So many great things to add to the hot pot. I wouldn't bother with the mixed veggies but loved the mushrooms!!
