Chicago’s Best Chinese Restaurants | Eater Chicago

"Chicago doesn’t have as many hand-pulled noodle shops as diners might expect in a city this large. But in Streeterville, a minichain, Shang Noodle, sates those starchy cravings. It’s from the owners of Niu, a popular sushi spot. The noodle soups, headlined by Taiwanese beef, are great on cold days. The chow fun is also excellent." - Ashok Selvam

Where to Eat and Drink in Streeterville | Eater Chicago

"A suburban favorite has arrived in Chicago to get give downtowners a serious spot for hand-pulled noodles, Yu-Shang pork, and Chinese-American favorites like orange chicken. Shang Noodle also offers mini hot pots, filling a large void in the neighborhood. As with most noodle shops, don’t sleep on the dumplings which are freshly made and have a great wrapper to filling ratio." - Jeffy Mai

This is a popular place and it is well managed. It has an extensive menu for diverse tastes. Please be aware that portions are huge. The two dishes we ordered for both of us could have easily served four persons. The low mein with shrimp was especially good. The fried rice dish with fish was very average. This restaurant was only about a 15 minute walk from our hotel and that was a + for us.

The food was excellent and portions generous. I wish I could have eaten more! We stopped by Shang Noodle whilst we were on holiday (vacation), and it was super busy on a Monday night, already a good sign. We waited about 10 minutes before getting a table but the lady in charge was really trying hard to accommodate us and our baby. They really went out of their way, rearranging a table for us which was so kind of them. We were really craving spicy flavourful food, as an antidote to a lot of the big heavy American classics we had been eating and Shang Noodle really hit the spot. The wok hei on the noodles was perfection. One of the best places we ate on our trip. Couldn’t recommend it more.

Google
Authentic and flavorful Chinese food. We ordered the Taiwanese beef noodle soup, xiaolong bao, shrimp wonton soup, and vegetable delight. All dishes were so tasty but not too overwhelming or oily. Just the perfect, filling meal. Service was wonderful with waiters constantly replenishing water without us asking. Cheap, affordable prices and lots of Chinese customers too.

I don't live nearby, but I try to stop by whenever I'm downtown. It's hard to find jajangmyeon (자장면) as the old school Korean Chinese restaurants close and the population migrates to the suburbs. The one here has premium ingredients and the sauce has a nice smoky flavor. They don't have the usual accompaniments like the sweet and sour pork, but they have great dim sum. It looks a little expensive, but the quality matches the price.

Google
Tried the pork ear side dish, jja jiang noodles, and mini seafood hot pot. Overall taste was good for the price but our rice came with a small hair. The server kindly and quickly gave us a new one after apologizing but perhaps owner should try to improve cleanliness. Everything else was great and I will definitely give this place another shot sometime.

Love, love, love this place!! It’s a little oasis. I have been twice, both times the food was amazing. Big portions, good prices, and amazing food. The atmosphere is so fun and pretty. I will come back here anytime I’m in the loop!

Absolutely loved our meal at Shang Noodles -- this place is a hidden gem that hits every mark for flavor, freshness, and authenticity. The service was friendly and attentive and the ambiance was modern and quaint. We started with the scallion pancake, and it was perfectly crisp on the outside, tender and chewy inside. It paired beautifully with their dipping sauce, which added a savory depth without overpowering the pancake's delicate flavor. The edamame was simple, lightly salted and steamed to perfection -- a refreshing, clean bite that prepped us well for the more indulgent dishes. From the dim sum selection, the har gau and siu mai were both exquisite. The har gau had that ideal translucent skin with juicy shrimp inside, bursting with flavor. The siu mai were plump, meaty, and expertly seasoned -- no skimping on quality here. We also couldn't resist the soup dumplings, which were small and not too soupy but had great flavor. And don't sleep on the sauteed string beans -- they were crisp, blistered, and beautifully seasoned with garlic and a hint of spice. They somehow manage to be both a veggie side and a standout dish in their own right. Altogether, Shang Noodles delivered a knockout meal that was thoughtfully prepared and full of bold, authentic flavors.

Lovely interior design with the low lighting, attentive staff, and good food. We had the pineapple juice, jja-jjangmyeon, cabbage, and orange chicken. The cabbage was sooo good it reminds me of my mom’s cooking.

Yelp
Was craving Chinese food and am so glad to have stumbled across this restaurant! Our group arrived around 4:30 and it was already getting busy. The interior nicely balances both an elegant and casual vibe making for a nice cozy meal. The staff was efficient and professional and gave us great recommendations. We started with orders of pork and vegetable egg rolls and they were hot, extra crispy, generously stuffed, and just generally some of the best I've had. For mains, we opted for the kung pao chicken and sizzling beef. The beef arrived with a super cool smoke and was incredibly tender! The flavor was smoky with great depth. The kung pao chicken was very tender and fresh with a lot of veggies, but was a bit undersalted for my personal preference. Portions were generous at a reasonable price, and we were happy to leave with plenty of leftovers. Overall, a great experience and I can't wait to return to try the noodles!

Yelp
Was in the area on an errand & realized there was a downtown location. I was starved, so this was perfect. Ambience was great albeit the music was a bit too loud for my liking. Glanced at the menu & to my surprise, there was quite a difference from their Evanston counterpart. Dim sum is offered & other delicious dishes I wanted to try. Our server was wonderful, despite my friend's many special requests. (Everyone has that one person, don't they?) The wait wasn't long & I enjoyed what we ordered. Highly recommend the chow fun & the salt & pepper calamari. I do want to try their dim sum offerings on my next visit, as there definitely will be one. Shang Noodle does not miss!

Yelp
Amazing Chinese food in downtown Chicago. Prices are higher than average Chinese restaurants but in Chicago I'm sure these are very standard prices. The pork buns were very authentic tasting as well as the Taiwanese beef noodle soup. The noodle soup portion was large and could definitely be shared amongst two people. Cumin lamb was amazing - well seasoned and cooked and it's the first time I've ever thought that the dish had more meat than I could eat. High recommend this restaurant. Great service, amazing interior

Yelp
Sight seeing along the navy pier builds up an appetite. Luckily we were able to find this gem only a few blocks away. They had a large table right by the front window that holds 8. It wasn't busy at all for a Monday lunch. We were seated immediately and the food came out quickly. We really enjoyed the fried pork belly, beef noodle soup, and shrimp fried rice. Other dishes that were solid were the string beans and soup dumplings. I found chicken, shrimp, and calamari just ok.

Yelp
Ate almost the entire dish and found a bug in my food. Serious concerns about the cleanliness of this place. The food was good but I was so grossed out at this that I can't recommend this restaurant. Thankfully doordash reimbursed me immediately.

Yelp
Ordered bunch of stuff but didn't really like any Mapo tofu: too spicy and numbing spicy and salty Fried chickens and pepper: too dry Soup dumplings: no soup Beef pot: spicy for me and not much flavor. Not too dry though Pork and beans : I didn't find much pork Deep fried pork belly: way too much dough Boba: too watery and the boba is undercooked, also they use powder

Yelp
For our last night in Chicago we wanted to eat at a restaurant close by and why not have some food that isn't what most people eat when you think of Chicago? Chinese! Following a recommendation of my hubby's second cousin, we came here during the dinner hour and were able to be seated at the last table. We were quickly served ice water and then our order was taken. Many appealing items but with just the two of us we had to limit what we ordered and then we still had leftovers! The shiu mai were tasty and the beef chow fun was on point! There was a crispiness from the wok and the green beans were tender and seasoned perfectly. A good amount of salt and garlic. The honey walnut prawns were well coated and plump from the nice sized shrimp. Unfortunately it was too much for us to eat so we took it with us a long with the green beans. The portion could have easily been for a table of four. They do a brisk to go business and have a full bar as well as boba drinks made with powders which isn't my preference. Have a craving for Chinese food after hot dogs and beef sandwiches? Fine this place a try!

Yelp
Located off the Magnificent Mile, this place is easy to find. I stopped by around 7 and it was kind of busy. I was seated right away. The beef noodle soup was really good. It had big chunks of beef with just the right ratio of fat to meat. It came out steaming hot. So this brings me to the soup dumplings that also came out at the same time. The soup dumplings came out in a steamer basket. I honestly was expecting for the dumplings to come out first, so I really didn't know which to eat first so that they didn't become cold or just warm. It threw me off. I was a bit ticked by this, and added that the server never stopped by the table. I really wanted chili oil. I had to ask the bartender for a side of chili oil. I got a negative vibe from the server. Ambience was chill. It seemed some other tables were also waiting for service. Might be short staffed? I would come back again. Maybe server was having an off day. Food was good.

Yelp
I was staying at the Embassy Suites Magnificent Mile and needed to grab a bite to eat before going into a meeting. Shang Noodles was less than a block away from the hotel. The food was delicious, hot, and full of flavor. The service was excellent, and the ambiance was great for dining with friends or a date night/lunch.

Yelp
It was one of the hottest days in Chicago. I was still a few blocks away from my hotel and ready to nosh on some food when I stumbled upon Shang Noodle. I wandered in and ordered a Moody Tongue Juice Lychee IPA. I'm a bit of a beer snob and could tell there were a few off flavors coming through, but that did stop me from finishing it! I stepped out of my comfort zone and ordered the Mapo Tofu. It was delicious and spicy. So spicy. lol. I subbed out the rice for an order of their house-made noodles and did not regret it. I need to add the guy at the table next to me ordered general tsos chicken and it looked and smelled amazing. The servings were huge, so definitely shareable, especially if you're only in town for a short spell. All in all can't wait to check this place out again in the future!

Yelp
We opted out getting deep dish for the night and couldn't beat the Asian cravings. Shang Noodle was a great find in the downtown Chicago area. I recommend booking a reservation bc it does get busy, and we were only lucky there was space at the bar. The food came out fast even though it was peak dinner hour and the staff was still attentive despite the crowd, which I really appreciated! Order the Szechuan chicken tenders and the fried rice they were both very good!
google avatar

Chad W.

Yelp
Tried Shang while in Chicago for work. Have to say it was very good. Tons of flavor! Amazing hot chili oil. If I could change one thing It would have been the thickness of batter in salt n pepper shrimp. Tad thick. But wow the generous portions. Szechuan cabbage was great! The noodles that came with the shrimp and red chicken I very much enjoyed. All our food was good and service could not have been any better.

Yelp
We arrived before 12 o'clock. Ordering and serving are quick. The service staff are very diligent. We are very satisfied with the dry pot green beans because it tastes good and moderately salty. It is delicious especially when paired with noodles and rice. Because the bottom of the dry pot is heated by fire, and the food aroma on the table makes the child feel like they are the most delicious Chinese home-cooked dishes he have eaten in this city. The green beans are not fried too much but retain their own moisture and taste great! We had a lot of fun eating this dish and highly recommend it! The 炸醬noodles and Taiwanese beef noodle soup are also great. The beef noodle soup is very fragrant, some piece of beef is a bit dry but other beef with tendon are soft and juicy, and the walnut shrimps are so big and tender. I think the fried cover can be improved a bit, and the mayonnaise should be dipped in every shrimp ball to be authentic. The dining atmosphere is also very good, there is no loud music, and everyone is happily eating delicious food. This is a place I would recommend to everyone to eat Chinese food.

Yelp
I will start by saying this is not my favorite neighborhood to eat in - I feel like a lot of the food is a bit mediocre and overpriced, but we were in the area and needed to eat and I've had this place bookmarked for a bit. This meal defied my assumptions - I am so glad we had dinner here. We got the golden shrimp stew which is tofu and shrimp in a salted egg yolk soupy sauce and the Hong Kong chow fun, which was perfectly cooked on a wok and so flavorful. My friend pointed out that you can probably get this food as good or better for lower prices in Chinatown or other neighborhoods, which is probably true, but I highly recommend this place. I would definitely come back - loved what we got and it was so so yummy. Definitely the kind of meal you have that makes you access gratitude.

Yelp
This is a cute spot in Chicago. I had an awesome waitress and the was immediately escorted to my seat upon walking in. I did not have a reservation. The vibe is cute, dim environment, music playing. It's a nice spot to eat and enjoy a good conversation. The food: I had a lychee martini that was sooo good. I would definitely recommend. For my entree I had sizzling beef that could easily be a meal for 2. It came out sizzling just like its name. It was nice and flavorful and it also came with a side of white rice. I love a good white rice and this didn't miss. This was a cute dinner and I would definitely recommend.

Yelp
I was craving some Chinese food after a long day of sight seeing in Chicago during my visit. I found recommendations online for Shang noodle. The noodles have a delicious flavor that I would recommend. The kung Pao chicken has a saltier flavor that I wasn't too fond of. Overall the atmosphere was relaxed and great service.

Yelp
Great place if you're a noodle lover! They have a mix of Chinese and Korean dishes so if you're a fan of either you'll likely find something you enjoy here. Items we ordered as of 8/2024: - Jjamppong Noodle Soup - $18 - The broth is fantastic and has a nice spicy kick to it. In terms of quantity, it is enormous! Definitely more than enough for 1. One thing I enjoyed is that wok flavor that's imparted in this dish. This indicates that it was well seared in a hot wok prior to serving! Highly recommended if you're a fan of Jjamppong! - Jja Jang Myeon - $16 - Very rich black bean sauce that came with a lot of onions, pork and even shrimp! Price was good for the amount that you received. Not this best I've had but definitely not disappointed! - Orange Chicken - $17 - I enjoyed this dish. I really tasted the oranges in the sauce and the chicken was still juicy and had a nice crunch to it. Overall we enjoyed our meal here and will likely return the next time we're in the area.

Yelp
May be I should stick to my favorites! The food here is always so great and never fails to satisfy my Chinese food cravings. The service was attentive. In this visit , I ordered my go-to: potato hot pot, and sichuan chicken along with I tried Hong Kong noodles and chicken hot pot for the first time. Hong Kong noodles were so flavorful; became my new favorite however; chicken hot pot lacked the flavors. Chicken was too hard and really dry. I also ordered japanese green tea by the pot. It had very refreshing, and grassy notes and I think it def helped me had a calming sleep that night. Even my friends loved it! It still remains one of my favorite Chinese restaurant and I will visit again!

Yelp
If you are ever in Chicago, go to this place. Their noodles are homemade and you can tell. They noodles were delicious. Everything we got was delicious. The cumin lamb is something I've never had or tasted anywhere. It was so delicious. My friend got the curry chicken. It was a bit on the spicy side but also as delicious. The service was great. We didn't have reservations but they were able to accommodate my friend and me. The place was cute and there were many patrons there. If you plan to come here at a certain time with more than two people, reservations are recommended.
google avatar

Yupeng L.

Yelp
The noodle soups here strike the perfect balance of rich, savory broths - not too salty, not too bland. I ordered the taiwanese beef noodle soup, and it tasted every bit as authentic as the dishes I had back home. The beef is indelibly tender and the noodles are cooked to perfection. We also tried the mapo tofu, which knocked it out of the park. A must try for anyone coming here. Service was extremely fast!

Yelp
This place man. First stop as soon as we landed. 15/10. Great option for mocktails as well.

Yelp
I have been to Shang a couple of times in the past, I'm glad there is a good authentic Chinese restaurant in Chicago downtown. They have an extensive menu and offer decent vegetarian options. I have tried spring rolls, dry sizzling hot pot, Chowmein, Chow Fun and Mapo Tofu in the past. I love Dry sizzling hot pot the most. We had a bit of confusion with our order and didn't like the noodles that came in with the dry pot but the Manager was very sweet to quickly replace it with fried rice. Spring rolls were crispy and were paired well with the sweet and sour sauce. Chowmein has a lot of veggies too, I added extra chilly oil to it and it tasted just perfect! I always order Peach Tea along with my meal and it's a perfect combination. I recommend this place for good food, service and calm ambiance.
google avatar

Blue A.

Yelp
Had a really great lunch here! Staff was friendly and service was quick. Shrimp hao goa - 4 pieces of dumplings. So good. Crab wontons - solid. Not much to say about it. House chow mein - delicious and a nice size to share. Orange chicken - it was good but didn't love the sauce. Didn't hate it either. Overall it was good, but I'm not sure I'll be in a rush to come back. Maybe if I find myself nearby I'll drop back in for the dumplings especially

Yelp
When I tell you DELICIOUS better believe it. Mood: hungry This place I literally found from walking around Chicago after a boat tour. I wanted Asian and I surely got that good cuisine. The place is beautiful, clean, and very inviting. Not an overwhelming large place but just the right size. Really cute table seating both at the bar and by the window. Customer service was A++ Food: Everything fried rice 10/10: no comment it was filling- portion size perfect for left overs and made so fresh the steam was all over. Huge pieces of shrimp, chicken, and egg. Was great. Red Chili chicken : 10/10 the spice was there 10 times over and did not disappoint. I enjoyed all of it. Made to order with a kick in every bit. Would come here over and over again any day.

Yelp
My friends and I went to Shang Noodles during the weekend of the Air and Water Show after a long walk back from North Avenue Beach. I've been here before, and this time we were a group of 10, and they were able to seat us without any issues. We tried the chicken potstickers, chow fun, vegetarian dey sizzling pot, Sichuan chicken tenders, and vegetable spring rolls. The menu is extensive, and the portion sizes are good. The food was tasty overall. We also tried some different beers--Moody Tongue, Kirin Ichiban, and Suiyobi--and they were all unique and enjoyable. The service was quick, which was a plus.
google avatar

Yelp
Small cute cozy interior, fast, friendly service everything we order was good! 5/5 whenever i visit chicago again i will be back! Food was great! Definitely check them out!
google avatar

Ed D.

Yelp
What a great find. We had dinner plans so wanted lighter fare for lunch after walking around downtown. The house made noodles were appealing and helped us narrow the menu to the noodle soups. One soup is easily shareable for 2-3 people but our curiosity led us to two soups for the two of us. Plus, spicy edamame for a starter. It was nice to see so many college-aged Asian faces in the restaurant and we'll definitely return on future visits to Chicago.
google avatar

Celine Y.

Yelp
We ordered the beef noodle soup and the egg drop soup. The beef was a generous portion, but it was distinctly dry and chewy instead of being tender. There were parts I couldn't eat. The noodles were also undercooked and not bouncy. The broth flavor profile was not bad but had an off aftertaste. The egg drop soup was good. Portions are generous. Service was a bit slow since they seemed understaffed on the day we went, so it took some time to get a table despite there being many open tables. The food did come out very quickly--within 5-10 minutes of ordering. Overall, this is a cozy and casual spot for comfort Chinese food! Food: 3/5 Service: 3.5/5 Ambiance: 4/5

Yelp
Our second time at Shang noodle. 5-food I have likes everything we tried we did the duck trio once and laomein, orange chicken, and walnut shrimp. Portions are good and food tastes very good. 5- venue is clean and modernized a little tricky for babies with strollers but we are able to make it work.
google avatar

Shizuka T.

Yelp
I am still recovering from the food coma. This chow fun is THE BEST I have ever had in any city I've been to in the US. A bit pricey but so worth it and I will come here alone if I have to to eat this addictive deliciousness. I walked 2 miles for this and I will do it again in a heartbeat. Service was efficient and friendly. Casual ambiance and most people were in t-shirts.
google avatar

Yelp
Shang Noodle was a short walk from the hotel my husband and I were staying at so we decided to give it a try later on a Friday evening. We arrived around 9:15pm and the place was packed! We luckily was able to grab a small table as the restaurant could probably fit less than 100 people. Service was fast and friendly! The thai iced tea was very good as well as the prickly pear drink. We ordered the crab wontons and the seafood hotpot. Both very flavorful and filling for two people!
google avatar

Jeannie Y.

Yelp
The service was so bad that we ended up leaving. The restaurant was nearly empty, with just one other table occupied, yet they claimed to be too busy. Unbelievable!
google avatar

Sam L.

Yelp
I was disappointed when their South loop location closed a few months ago before I could try it. Luckily I gave this location a try and was very pleased. Very clean food, good bubble tea, and a stylish and inviting interior. Saw many solo diners which definitely means it's good! I'll be back

Yelp
Food 1.5/5 Ambience 2/5 Service 3/5 Value 2/5 Came for a weeknight dinner. Not too many Chinese options on the Mag Mile. Decided to give it a try based on ratings. But boy was I wrong. Maybe I came on an off night, but the food was awful. It's a fairly small restaurant but average for one near the Mag mile. There are a few tables and 4 spots at a dinky bar. Although they have an extensive menu, I would think they need to get their noodle dishes right. I ordered their Taiwanese beef noodle soup. Everything was wrong about it. Firstly they were clearly very short staffed but one guy didn't even look me in the eye as he walked near me. I really had to flag down the one lady that was doing everything. When I got my Taiwanese beef noodles, they didn't give me any utensils. Had to flag that lady down once again. Then taking a sip of the broth, tasteless. Not enough bok choy, which also tasteless. Beef was WAY overcooked. I don't now what kind of noodles they used, but it is for sure not any traditional one and definitely pre-packaged. Yeah didn't bother getting anything else as everything was pretty expensive and I didn't have high expectations. I understand Chicago isn't know for Asian cuisine but food wasn't even cooked properly. Forget about the flavors. If you want your Asian fix, I'd recommend Ramen San Deluxe instead.
google avatar

Karen T.

Yelp
Passed by this place several nights ago headed to Whole Foods and saw that it was packed. When we arrived around 5:30pm on a wed, not many people there and was seated right away. Decided to try a hot pot since I was unsuccessful the evening before. However I didn't feel like spicy tonight, so the waitresses happily accommodated with a non-spicy broth that I couldn't stop drinking! The cumin lamb was really flavorful as well. Overall had a great meal. The restaurant did seem to be undergoing some sort of a repair along the wall though and they seemed to be way understaffed. One waitress, one manager, and one cleaner only.
google avatar

Patricia R.

Yelp
Staff were very friendly and attentive! Once we placed our order, I kid you not 5-10 minutes later our food came out. I've also never had duck that didn't have fat, which I like! I would def come back if I'm ever back in this city. It hit the spot after a full day of walking.
google avatar

Nicole C.

Yelp
Food is good quality, I prob would not opt for the XLB there was no soup in them. The sizzling clay pot was probably my favorite dish. Server is very attentive Ambiance: this is such a cute, nice casual place!
google avatar

Meghan M.

Yelp
Delicious drinks and food! Be warned that there is a wait time if you go on in on a Friday or Saturday evening, but they have seating inside for waiting. I think we waited 10-15 min for a table. Well worth it though! I especially loved the Japanese egg tofu with mushrooms, which was also delicious for leftovers the next day.
google avatar

Yelp
It was my first time I got food from Shang Noodle. I'm sorry to say that I wasn't impressed. I only ordered two items. The potstickers looks and tastes like the frozen entrées from Trader Joe's and the cabbage doesnt have the right seasoning (no Sichuan peppercorn for one) or the right texture as it should have. There are better options nearby.

Sydney B.

Yelp
This place is sooo delicious! We ate here twice during our trip to Chicago. Great authentic food with big amazing flavors. We will definitely eat here again when we visit Chicago.
google avatar

Yelp
Cute place in streeterville with decent vegetarian options. We got the egg drop soup, vegetable chow mein and the dry sizzling vegetarian pot with tofu. We really liked the dry sizzling pot and the sauce at the bottom of it definitely adds a nice kick! Service was also great! Would come back!
google avatar

Yelp
This is a lovely, casual establishment in Downtown Chicago with youthful vibes. It serves primarily American Chinese cuisine. The interior is pleasant, making it a nice place to hang out. The menu is extensive, and there are decent vegetarian-friendly options. The service is excellent, and the staff is very hospitable. We ordered the Taiwanese beef noodle soup, cumin lamb, and everything fried rice. The portions were HUGE. It's definitely suitable for sharing. The beef broth for the noodle soup was flavorful, the beef was tender, the noodles were chewy. The cumin lamb was also tender, and the spices were fragrant. The fried rice has generous toppings and is tasty. It has the smoky fragrance of a wok, which is the best part of fried rice. For the quality and quantity, the price is pretty good! If I lived in the area, I would be a regular in this place.

This Streeterville gem is the perfect place for a meal with close friends or even a date night. I made a reservation for 6 and we were seated right on time. Our server was patient, informative about the menu, and overall very kind. DRINKS: The Shanghai Mule was so refreshing. The punch of citrus from the yuzu was delicious and not too sour that it gave off lemonade vibes. The Perfect Pair cocktail we thought would have been sweet but it turned out to be more sour. It also could have been made a bit stronger. FOOD: I ordered the Taiwanese Beef Noodle soup and it was the perfect amount of savory without being too salty. The beef was so tender and the broth was flavorful. We also ordered the golden shrimp stew. Personally, I thought this lacked a bit of seasoning, and peas in the dish threw me off. However, I threw the tofu into some of the soup and it made for a good addition. The House Mandarin Duck was tender and juicy. The soy glaze really brought the dish together along with the fresh cucumbers that added some freshness to the dish. The twice cooked pork belly was crispy and packed some heat. This added some diversity to our order, which I really appreciated. OVERALL: Ambiance was great. Service was great. Food was good and I left satisfied. Side note: Serving sizes here are perfect for sharing! I would recommend ordering different dishes to try a little bit of everything.

Yelp
This has been on my list for 1 year. I moved to STL from Philly which I THINK has the best Asian food. Name a region and I got. Suggestion. Anyway Shang Noodle... SHANG NOODLE proved me wrong. I need to go back. Not a want but a need. I need to get on the Amtrak, ride 5 hours through bumfuck IL to get here. And it's worth it. I had the crispiest egg rolls ever, shrimp dumplings, and jajangmeyon (which was perfect), and a drink with yuzu. A wonderful introduction to this place. I'll be back in September.

Yelp
I love the spacious and bright upscale ambiance. We've always wanted to try Shang Noodles when living in Chicago, but didn't really get the chance to. Now that we've moved, we made an effort to give it a try! The food here is great. I ordered the beef chow fun, and it was pan fried to perfection! I think this dish is actually better than a lot of the Chinese restaurants in Chinatown! The portions were also very generous! I was so full by the time I finished. I think I could have split this up between 2 meals, but I didn't have a way to take this back with me! The service was great. Overall, a really good experience!

Yelp
Food was good, service was fast, and the ambiance was definitely for taking dates. I came with a group of friends and we enjoyed it over all. Don't expect to get super authentic food though.

Yelp
My Asian parents loved this place. We ordered a bunch of dishes to try and none of them disappointed. Everything had a lot of great flavors and wasn't too oily. Service was also fast and decor was on point. Will come back again if ever in Chicago

Yelp
Food was very good, especially the seafood hot pot. Great ambiance! Service was good, even though our waitress delivered our hot pot to different table. They quickly made another one! Highly recommend.
