Shanghai Chinese Restaurant

First time at the restaurant, which came well recommend and did not disappoint. A very ample buffet, from salads to meats, there's something to accommodate most people's choices. I have to say, everything I tried, was very good. The restaurant is well staffed, buffet is constantly checked and kept filled, it's very efficiently run. You're promptly brought a bill as they see your table getting done, payment is taken as you leave, at the cashier near the entrance. We will definitely go back, I recommend this restaurant.

Excellent service! Shanghai has a delicious variety of food. The owners are very friendly and attentive. We recommend this place. Unfortunately we are from Austin, TX and stopped during our road trip, but we will try to visit again.

We come often. Love this place. We came to celebrate October Church birthdays this time. We called early afternoon to let them know. They had table ready & it was great. Something for everyone. Good variety of food.

Pretty good food when I got here as it opened.

I was referred here by my brother. He stated that it was family-owned. For a decade I've been taking my family there to the buffet especially during Christmas day. The food is fresh the whole restaurant is clean. A very high standards for fresh food, cleanliness, and when you walk in you can feel at comfortable. The staff work as a team like clockwork to make sure everyone is happy. The owners themselves go out to each and every one of the tables to make sure each and every customer is happy to their satisfaction. There's a large variety of food. I never have to worry about the quality of the food served there. They are always staffed enough to handle the flow of customers they have come in. The waitresses have great memory of the orders and make sure that their customers cups are always full. Even with a higher price during the holiday it was still affordable to take the whole family and fill all their bellies full.

The food was absolutely outstanding, with every dish packed with rich flavors and perfect presentation. The staff were friendly and attentive without being intrusive, making the whole experience even better. The ambiance felt warm and welcoming, ideal for both casual meals and special occasions. Portions were generous, and the menu had plenty of creative options to choose from. I would definitely return and highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a memorable meal.

This restaurant I has one of the best buffets we've ever had. Everything was hot and fresh. It is so well stocked with fresh food. Can't wait to go back!

The table was empty but they said we had to wait for the check which was a waste of time the food was too salty if we ate too much food when we bought take out food they said we should take less i think they want to make a profit from the food while the price of a portion is 20 dollars if we want to eat well then find a better restaurant don't come here to eat

I've eaten at many Chinese buffet restaurants. The food here on Christmas Day was tasteless and lackluster. There was one dish that was halfway prepared properly ..: the Moo Goo. One dish. A very busy spot on a holiday. Not much else open. The wait was handled with ease by asking folks to sign in. However, the set price for the holiday at $19.99 was unnecessary. Ambiance was not appealing. A shout out to Ling's in Texas, and someone let me know of another Wichita Chinese buffet to patronize.

The food was okay, some was a little cold. The dessert station could use some love. The fish tank was SO clean! Service was quick. Fortunate for the business owner, we arrived around 5:30p on a Friday and it was very busy!! Despite how busy it was everything was quick and efficient.

Bought a to go box for dinner. When I was still selecting my items when I was suddenly violently grabbed by the buffet owner and told I couldn't add more. I could still fit more in my box but 2 crayfish out a half full hotel pan set him off. I've been here before but is the first time I was assaulted by the owner and I'm verry disappointed. I was willing to pay the overstuff fee but this is ridiculous. Wouldn't be surprised if they started to restrict the amount of food you get for dining in.

It's got all the food that I really like, like soup, ice cream, and French fries! I think my father likes it here.

Food is over priced only items that seemed to be warm we're the chicken products all other items I had were cold...there were bugs on the wall. This was all within the last week or so we went. Two people is very expensive for Chinese food.

Best Asian buffet in town. Food is always fresh They don't have the selection of some other buffets but high volume and freshness more than make up for it. Stay in your lane and do it right every time

They have went down considerably their food used to be really good especially their buttered shrimp it was really good but it wasn't all that anymore it wasn't worth the price

It's the classic buffet that you know and love! Every entree item is what you expect, tastes very standard, and has every staple you want to see. There's only two tables of food, so it's very regular Chinese buffet menu food. It all tastes great though! Only downside was the place gets a little cramped between tables- that is hard to change other than removing some tables. They provide gloves for you to handle the food - which I appreciate!

We were pleasantly surprised with the food and service. I was a little worried about freshness going a little later in the day but they were very busy and the dishes were being filled and checked regularly. It's your standard mix of Chinese offerings with a salad bar and some American things added in. I tried a little bit of almost everything and was stuffed while my daughter stuck to her normal choices but also ended up stuffed. The decor is a little outdated and some of the tables are pretty close together but the friendly staff and good food make up for that. It was also clean so don't let appearances fool you.

Food is good ~~ not great by Chinese standards ~~ but hot and plentiful. The owner/manager, on the other hand, is a real piece of work ~~ sullen, rude and quite unprofessional. Rest of the wait staff makes up for her shortcomings!

Walked in and was immediately greeted by a nice lady who walked us right over to our table. Everything was clean and sanitized. I looked over at the buffet and I could tell all the food was fresh!!!! She always has fresh food out here! And the owner walked around and was greeting people left and right! The number 1 buffet in Wichita!!!!!

Not much variety. I judge Chinese places by their egg rolls. These featured soggy cabbage and the roll was lacking flavor. I was hoping to see egg foo young, but it wasn't available on the buffet. Crawdad bain pan was empty the whole time I was there. General Tso chicken wasn't spicy at all. All waitresses were in BOH eating dinner at the same time. I had to go behind the partition to locate one so I could get a check and leave. While waiting, a small roach crawled across my table. I was happy to leave.

Family owned we have been coming here for many years. They work hard to keep food fresh and hot and also work hard to keep it clean and neat. Always good flavor. Severs and owners are visible and attentive

The best chinese buffet in Wichita! The dumplings are the best I have ever had! I loveee their fried chicken wings also. The food is so fresh and delicious. The owners are so friendly and nice. Chinese is my favorite food and thank goodness this place is in the parking lot of where I work!.

Hidden in plain sight. I still can't believe how many times I've driven past this place over the years and thought that someday I'd try it and somehow kept waiting...well not another day. We finally found our way inside, and I was immediately taken back in time to memories of my childhood. Seriously, if you're into good old Chinese buffets that keep the buffet loaded with fresh food then this is gonna be one of your favorite places. They have all of the standard fare; my personal faves are the egg drop soup, egg rolls, lo mein, the chicken skewers, sweet-n-sour chicken and those little sugar donuts -- don't judge me and my carb loving taste buds. Did I mention that the prices are very reasonable especially considering the current rate of inflation? All-we-could-eat dinner for two with iced tea and a tip cost us less $50. Normally I'm "buffet hesitant", meaning I get nervous of food that might be hanging out for a while (thanks so much Gordon Ramsey "Kitchen Nightmares" / not to be confused with our former Police Chief). This place immediately calmed any of my fears when I noticed the steady movement of food. Really, it was exactly what you want to see when you visit a buffet. It was impressively clean, and the food was going so fast that they were refilling stations almost nonstop. I mean, you really don't see that kind of service anymore. The owners were very friendly and made us feel welcome. We're so happy to have Shanghai near us, and nearby to city center so we can easily invite others to join us. It's our new go-to for Chinese food. Oh and btw, I don't give a hoot about decor when it comes to eating at buffets, so the old Shoney's vibe I'm getting kinda reminds me of my childhood and my grandmother so I don't exactly hate it. ;) Now get on out to Shanghai and enjoy some delicious Chinese food (and an almond cookie), conveniently located in the parking lot of the old Wichita Mall #IYKYK

The buffet was great with fresh food continually brought out. Many great options. The wait staff was efficient also.

We drove for miles to get to this place. Yelp said it was open every day. We got there and they were CLOSED. Tuesday at 6pm. We were sorely pissed We decided to give them another shot... early Sunday dinner. They were open this time and it was pretty darn good. My husband loved their selection of shrimp, and I enjoyed the cabbage with chicken the most. The service was very conscientious and friendly, as well. Feeling satisfied. I am updating my previous 1 star rating to 4 stars. Being closed before was probably due to Covid... stupid Covid...

Best chinese buffet in town hands down! Fresh food, wide selection and reasonable prices. Owners are friendly and this place has been family owned and operated for many years. Don't go anywhere else or you'll be disappointed.

Food is amazing great food also a select few people amazing but some waiters will take forever to refill your drink almost choked on my food hoping to get a refill but it toook them forever a young man had to take over our table.

This place has been here for a long time as I remember living in Wichita. Definitely enjoy coming here for the lunch buffet especially with their low prices. 2 adult lunch for under $20! The food is always fresh and replaced on time.

My family just dined here @6pm 11/23 and never have been so disappointed with the lady owner of the restaurant. She did came over and greeted us the first time. Then next thing we were enjoyed the crawfish and she came over stated that customers complaint we ate all the crawfish. 1. Her restaurant is a buffet, 2. There was no one behind us or in line to eat the crawfish. 3. We are there to pay for the food and none of our food on the tables were wasted. 4. They charged kids under 3. We felt she targeted us. She only had the sign up on the food bars not to wasted food but we have not done that on any plates. We will never come back to this Shanghai restaurant ever again!!

Dined there today Easter 4-4-2021 So sad that ppl" guest" can be so nasty to the Owners who was reminding their patrons ,to plz wear their mask / gloves when carrying their plates I was so glad I kept my mouth shut when the lady said after aOwner/ mgr left the table. " We speak English

Hands down best all you can eat Chinese buffet in Wichita. They offer a awesome variety of different dishes. My faves are the rice noodles with crab Rangoon and the fried sugar bread! It's always hot and fresh. Customer service is always friendly and helpful.

The food was excellent, enjoyed how quiet it was. Our waitress, Annie, was the best. Very friendly and checked often to see how we were doing. A hidden gem, in my opinion, I will be going back often!

I think I will not return the food does not taste like Chinese food it is fresh but they lack that seasoning until my child realized that it did not taste good apart from eating what he wanted he had to wait a long time for it to be served

I've went here my whole life, the manger calls me Shanghai baby, lol. My family has had great experiences with them, my brother is currently 24 and my family has been going since he was a baby. But the customer service is questionable. You have to hunt down a server to get a refill most of the time. But food is great!

Something has changed. I have never had a complaint about Shang Hai, other than the carpet is old and worn out from so much foot traffic. I had some teriyaki chicken from the buffet, it was actually cold, not room temperature. This was very surprising to me, as I am so used to practically everything on the buffet is so fresh and hot. What turned the experience into a complete disaster from a ho-hum experience though was the unwanted guests at the table. At no time ever has anybody wanted someone else to dine with you, and if it were a person, it would be one thing, but this time... roaches. Not just one, but several. Roaches don't just show up, it takes months of filth for them to be so rampant that they are actually on the dining table.

Good food, good prices, best customer service. Every time we have come in here the owners are the nicest people ever. They interact and don't just ignore. This will make us loyal customers forever. Hard to find good customer service these days.

It was ok, the selection was extremely limited and the food was not fresh. Sorta disappointed given that all the reviews seemed to paint this place as being the best Chinese buffet in Wichita. Very overpriced. It was almost 60$ for two adults and two kids.

Delicious!! We just moved here and our son picked this out, it did not disappoint. Great selection and friendly service.
