London’s New Restaurant Openings - London - The Infatuation

"If you’ve ever had the specific need to be very high up, the 28th floor say, perusing a menu of wagyu beef, king crab, and all-truffle-everything, before heading to a bar for post-dinner 4am DJ sets—you might really like Shanghai Me. The swanky pan-Asian restaurant inside the Hilton on Park Lane promises an extensive dim sum menu as well as impressive views." - sinead cranna, rianne shlebak

They brought Dubai standards to London! The restaurant is atmospheric and it’s located the 28th floor with a stunning panoramic view of London city. The food is creative without compromising on quality, and the service was a perfect 10/10 (Lianne and a few others served us and was absolutely amazing).

A Disappointing & Awkward Dining Experience – Not Worth the Price. In summary, I cannot recommend this restaurant due to its overpriced food, subpar service, and an overall atmosphere that made us feel like an inconvenience. Arrival and Ambiance: Upon arriving 5-10 minutes early for our 6pm reservation, we were led through the dining area, where a staff meeting of 10-20 employees was underway. Despite the restaurant being open since lunch, the staff seemed unprepared for our arrival. The receptionist initially tried to seat us at a table surrounded by the meeting before awkwardly redirecting us to another table. Service: The service was inconsistent and intrusive. Our first server was friendly but unhelpful, reading the entire menu out to us when we asked for recommendations. We then never saw or heard from this server for the rest of the meal. Throughout the meal, staff hovered uncomfortably close, with one attempting to clear our edamame bowl twice before we were finished and another removing a sauce mid meal, right after one of us had just used it. This created a rushed and monitored dining experience. Additionally, one of our menus lacked prices, which felt odd and unprofessional. I must call out the chap dressed in all black who brought the drinks from the bar was brilliant, really friendly and great at his job. Food Quality: The popcorn chicken starter was a highlight—flavorful and well-executed—but the server’s bizarre comment, “Don’t eat them, they’re horrible,” referring to the chilies, was off-putting. The sweet and sour chicken, however, was disappointing. The meat was low-quality, with a bland sauce and thick batter. When cut open, the chicken appeared pink, prompting an unsolicited comment from a server, “It’s thigh meat, it’s not raw.” While technically correct, this did little to reassure us in a supposedly upscale establishment. The duck main course sharer was overpriced, duck quality was mid level and little touches missed to make it wow. It was like each dish was missing a true stand out feature or wow flavour. The prawn toast was like potted shrimp, lots of little prawns put together to make the prawn toast, usually at high end restaurants they use large king prawns, so this was a negative idea from the team here and made the item taste mushy. Management and Resolution: When we raised concerns about the sweet and sour chicken, a manager (man with an earring) became defensive, offering a dessert or coffee to compensate, we had just ordered a coffee and negroni already and advised him of this. Shortly after, despite our drinks still unfinished, he informed us that our table was needed for another party of four and presented the bill. This was particularly strange as the restaurant was only half full, with at least nine other tables available for a party of four. Our meal, which lasted just over two hours, was delayed by slow food service, yet we were rushed to leave. He never did knock off anything extra, just the chicken dish, again giving mixed messaging on what the service level being offered was. Overall Experience: The £500+ bill for four people, including food and drinks, felt unjustifiable given the poor service and inconsistent food quality. Every other table we observed either complained about their table positioning or requested to move for a better view. The staff’s behavior made us feel unwelcome and undervalued as customers. If you got somewhere like a TGI Fridays you get a better more coherent service + they would deal with a comment about food in a more professional manner. Recommendation: I strongly advise against dining here until the restaurant addresses its service and management issues. Check back when there are more reviews before considering a visit.

Couldn't be happier with our dining experience at this newly-opened spot in London. The venue itself is absolutely beautiful - atmospheric and stylish with stunning views over the London skyline. We found something for everyone on the menu, with a wide range of delicious Asian dishes, each beautifully presented and cooked to perfection. The service was exceptional and combined modern sensibility and attention to detail with old-world charm, making for a lovely experience for my wife and I where everything was taken care of. The wine list is impressive, and the staff knowledgeable. We didn't try any of the signature cocktails on this occasion as we're both wine lovers, but we'll be back soon to give them a whirl at the equally cool Bund Bar! Thanks for a wonderful evening! (excuse my poor photography - really doesn't do it all justice!)

An exceptional dining experience at Shanghai Me! From the moment we walked in, we were swept away by the elegant ambiance and attentive service. The décor is stunning and sophisticated with just the right touch of glamour, and the atmosphere strikes a perfect balance between luxury and comfort, all enhanced by one of the best views in London. The food was absolutely outstanding. Every dish was beautifully presented and full of flavour, showcasing high-quality ingredients and refined technique. Highlights included the sashimi and dim sum, which were perfectly executed, as well as the duck with caviar—an elegant combination of textures and taste. The hamachi with black truffle was another standout: delicate, aromatic, and deeply flavourful. The wine list is truly impressive, featuring a carefully curated selection that complements the menu beautifully. The sommelier was knowledgeable, approachable, and offered excellent pairing suggestions that elevated the entire experience. Overall, Shanghai Me delivered on every front, food, service, wine, and ambiance. A must-visit for anyone looking to enjoy elevated Chinese and Japanese cuisine in London. Our server Raul took such great care of us, we’ll definitely be back!

Stunning rooftop views, elegant Art Deco ambiance, and refined Pan-Asian cuisine. Shanghai Me London brings the glamour of 1930s Shanghai to Mayfair with a luxurious menu featuring Wagyu, dim sum, and expertly crafted cocktails. The service is polished, the vibe is lively yet upscale, and the panoramic skyline views from the 28th floor of the Hilton hotel are unbeatable. Perfect for special occasions or a stylish night out. Pricey, but worth it for the full experience.

I enjoyed a wonderful meal at Shanghai me opening day and I was blown away. As soon as you walk in, the decor is just stunning, with a 360 view of London. I didn’t even know London could look so good. & that’s not even the best part, the food was so fresh and tasty. The way the ingredients complement each other was divine. Also, I would love to give a huge shoutout to the host Noor who gave such a warm welcome and was very accommodating. & to Yuliia and Nikita, super professional and so attentive the whole night. They were all amazing. What a great team. I would recommend the yellowtail, the duck salad, Evgeny’s sub and the chocolate fondant. 11/10 Long story short, if you want a great dining experience. Come to Shanghai me!

Loved everything about the new top floor Shanghai Me. The room is gorgeous, the city views are unreal, and the vibe somehow feels chill and buzzy at the same time. Food-wise, it’s a knockout. The Wagyu beef basically melts, the sashimi is super fresh, and the duck tacos… just order them. Trust me. Service was spot on too. Raul looked after us all night, and even the manager Daniela and GM Maurizio popped over to check we were having a great time. Little touches like that make a difference! Epic night, can’t wait to go back.

The restaurant is not only beautiful and the food fantastic, the employees are wonderful and very helpful. The views are spectacular looking over the sights of London being extremely close to Buckingham Palace. We met Alister in the restaurant who was terrific being so helpful, I can’t recommend this place enough.
