"A James Beard nominated chef from Las Vegas, Jimmy Li, was convinced by a Dallas local, Jay Bao to franchise his dumpling shop, opening the first location outside of Nevada in Plano. Stop in for xiao long bao, or soup dumplings, as well as noodles, street food, and pork buns. Li trained the Plano staff so they are able to reproduce the originals faithfully." - Courtney E. Smith

Me and my mom have been to Shanghai Taste many times over the last handful of months and have loved many of the dishes they have to offer! 小笼包 has been a favorite dish of mine ever since I was a kid, but the ones offered here have become my favorite place to get them! The 生煎包 is admittedly something I haven't tried before coming here, but it's a dish they're renown for, with the crispy bottom perfectly complimenting the juicy meat and soup inside. Other standout dishes to me were the sweet and sour ribs (fall off the bone delicious!), the scallion oil noodles, and the crispy shrimp. Of their specials, right now there's a glutinous rice cake dessert that has a crispy outside but the familiar chewiness of glutinous rice desserts but with sweet gooey brown sugar syrup inside. That dessert isn't usually my type of thing but our server was so kind in recommending it that I had to try it! Overall, pretty much everything I've had here is amazing tasting and I fully recommend here if you want delicious Chinese/上海 cuisine. Also, this week, they started opening for morning hours (9-11), so if you ever need your cravings fed, you know where to go!

In general the food is good here and the service is certainly adequate too but I don't like the ordering system. You have to order by marking your selections on a preprinted piece of paper, much like a sushi bar. If several friends dine together that is very inconvenient since you have to give a number to each selection. They need to get a better system. The 4 of us had to pass the sheet around and modify the number for each selection if 2 or more of us wanted the same dish. As you can see from the photos the dining room is quite small (long and narrow).

Google
Excellent Chinese food. Everything we ordered was great, and came out so fast. The place is smaller than most restaurants and feels a little cramped when crowded, but the food makes up for it. Highly recommend!

Google
Solid B- place or C+ when it comes to flavor. Pan Fried Soup Dumplings- 4 to an order, skin is almost twice as thick as what you would find in Flushing, NY. The soup is flavorful but lacks depth. Sauced Duck-Served cold/room temp with a soy-forward sauce. Good smoke flavor but feels like the sauce is lacking some sweetness. Shanghai Juicy Steamed Dumpling- Probably one of the better soup dumplings in the DFW area (top 5). The skin is just thick enough to hold the pork, the soup is pork/fatty and pairs well with the vinegar and ginger. Curry Beef with Rice Noodle- Served with glass noodles, this dish is very lackluster. The curry flavor is extremely weak and watered down and the beef amount is very light. Completely recommend skipping. Shanghai Scallion Oil Noodle- Tastes like Indomie Goreng instant noodles but not as flavorful. I wish that the scallion flavor was more forward and that they would top the noodles with green onions/scallions. Skip. Szechuan Flavor Beef Tongue - Tongue was a bit overcooked and oversauced with a black bean type sauce and no numbing sichuan peppers to be seen. Overall, the food came out really quick, but each dish lacked flavor/oomph to make me want to come back.

Google
I really liked this place and I already came here for several times. We ordered the soup dumplings and shengjian Bao and both of them have so much soup inside. I also liked the pork ribs and the crispy pork chops. They are all delicious and I’ll definitely tell my friends to come to eat. Also, they just started to open breakfast on weekdays from 8 to 11am, it’s very convenient if you wanna eat breakfast before work.

Love the pan fried soup dumplings and the crispy shrimp! All dumplings are homemade with great quality and skills. Crab yolk juicy pork dumplings tastes wonderful too! Service is great.

Google
I visited the location in Las Vegas, and both food and service were amazing. Dislike the disposable chopsticks, water cups and even paper menu. To save the menu, the server asked me and my husband to share one menu. Also, once place your order, there is no chance to add, change or cancel. The quality of the food was fine, but won’t come back regarding the service and environment.

Google
Such delicious Shanghai food!!! Definitely coming back!! Everything was super crispy and delicious. All the baos were super juicy, the soups were literally squirting out! The Shanghai spicy chili oil noodles are not spicy at all and it was super delicious!!! 100% must try! They fill up quick so make sure you go early! Service was quick and great.

Yelp
I really enjoyed going to Shanghai Taste. We went twice in our week-long trip, which is saying something because there are so many choices in the Dallas/surrounding area. The food was really good. I especially liked their XLB and pan fried buns. Both are very juicy to the point you really have to be careful to not burn yourself. Which is another very good point about Shanghai Taste, the food is piping hot. Very often I go to restaurants serving similar cuisines and the buns are not as hot as they should be. I also like that they have a little blackboard showing their specials. Both times we went, we had a party of 6 to 7, so we were able to try a variety of dishes. Everything was from good to great. The downside about Shanghai Taste is that it is a very narrow/small space. And both times they kept the restaurant very warm to the point of slightly uncomfortable for us. It won't deter me from going though. This is a must-visit every time I am in the area.

Yelp
Finally got to try this new little place without there being a huge line. I can see why there usually are lines though. The fried and steamed soup dumplings were awesome. The broth was so flavorful without being salty and the wrappers were delicate without easily breaking. Just perfect. The scallion pancakes and Shanghai noodles were delicious as well. Service was incredibly fast, which is why I was too busy eating to take more than the picture of the first dish that came out. Prices are reasonable, too, so absolutely give them a try.

Yelp
Shanghai Taste is a fantastic new addition to the DFW dining scene, and it's an expansion from the well-known Vegas location by Jimmy Li. First impressions: The restaurant is located across from Mitsuwa off 75. The space is long and narrow, with most tables set for 2-4 people. Larger groups might need to wait for tables to be combined, so plan accordingly during peak hours. One standout detail? The staff--super friendly and impressively stylish (I couldn't help but notice and had to give them a shoutout). Now, onto the food: Overall, the food is excellent, and I'll definitely be back. While my rating is a little critical, it's only because this place sets a high bar. * Soup Dumplings (Xiao Long Bao): One of the best in Dallas so far. The skin is perfectly thin, and there's a generous amount of soup inside. Bonus: Like Din Tai Fung, they have a glass window where you can watch the dumplings being made--a big hit with the kids. * Shanghai Rice Cakes: Chewy and enjoyable, but a bit on the sweeter side for my taste. It seems they use the same sauce for the Shanghai noodles. * Smoked Fish: Though I didn't order it this time, I've tried it before, and it's delicious. Be prepared--it's bony, so it takes a bit of work to eat, but it's worth it. * Sheng Jian Bao (Pan-Fried Soup Bao): A family favorite! Similar to soup dumplings but encased in a bao with a crispy, pan-fried bottom. Be careful not to lose the soup with your first bite. A must-try. * Scallion Noodles: A simple but satisfying dish. Our kids loved it. It's a bit oily, but the flavor is spot on. * Crispy Shrimp: This dish was a pleasant surprise! Crispy deep-fried shrimp with a sweet sauce on top. You can eat the whole shrimp, shell and all, which gives it a chip-like crunch. Highly recommend. * Spicy Wontons: A solid dish with a mala (numbing spice) kick. While we still prefer Wu Wei Din's version, this one stands out for its unique flavor profile. * Chinese Broccoli: Cooked well but slightly too salty for our liking. Overall thoughts: Shanghai Taste is solid, and I'll definitely be making more trips here to try other dishes. Great food, friendly staff, and a fun dining experience for the whole family.

Yelp
I'm glad that Dallas is a growing hub of Asian food options, and Shanghai taste is one of them. Not too many places offer soup dumplings like the ones served here. Their crab soup dumplings and normal soup dumplings are very solid, although a little pricey. Their curry noodles are also very good; they add a warmth that provides shelter from dropping temperatures. Overall, I'd give this place a shot, but I don't like the idea of normalizing $20-$30 meals and still not being full.

Yelp
I was excited to try Shanghai Taste but left disappointed. The restaurant is a small, narrow space with about a dozen tables, and we waited 30 minutes for a table after checking in on an iPad. The service was lackluster--they only offered water to drink and never gave us a refill. The Sheng Jian (pan-fried soup dumplings) were the highlight--scalding hot and flavorful. Unfortunately, the Shanghai fried rice was overly salty, with an overwhelming soy sauce taste. The sweet and sour pork ribs tasted burnt and were drenched in sauce to mask it. Some of our food, like the stir-fried vegetables, never even arrived. With poor service and mediocre food, I won't be back.

Yelp
I visited my godmother's restaurant in Richardson last month and mentioned that I wanted to try Shanghai Taste in Plano. She warned me off, saying the food was awful. But my best friend suggested we give it a shot today. I'm of the opinion that it's a place that's more geared towards those who enjoy a generous helping of MSG and sweet flavors. The wonton and pan-fried buns were like a flavor bomb of MSG that I just couldn't handle. The food was underwhelming, and the stir-fried beef noodle was way too sweet. The deep-fried pork chops were the only decent dish. While people have different tastes, I won't be returning. Overall everything they cooked are overwhelming for MSG PS: make sure you drink lots of water!

Yelp
this place is more like a 3.5 out of 5 stars. i was craving Sheng Jian Bao and we were in the area, so we ended up walking in. Luckily, there was one table left, so we didn't need to wait. The interior is kinda interesting. Its like a elongated hallway full of tables. and they have a glass kitchen where you can see them make the xiao long baos. I also like the pictures they hung on the wall, depicting all the different types of food they serve. We ended up getting a Sheng Jian Bao (pan fried dumplings), crab xiao long bao (xlb), wonton soup, malantou, and shanghai rice cake. It was a lot of food for 2 people, and i think we spent like close to 60 bucks for everything. Out of all the things we ordered, the crab XLB was the best, but the sheng jian bao was also good. I was really shocked to see how fast they bought out the food. No joke, we placed the ordered for the sheng jian bao, and it came out in like 3 minutes. (guess its already cooked, and they probably just reheated it or something). My wife really liked the malantou veggie dish, which she says its rare to find in supermarkets / restaurants here in texas. My only gripe was the water. I don't know, but it tasted funny to me. my wife said it was fine... lol

Yelp
I really liked the pan fried soup dumplings. I have not seen it before but the dumplings were full of juice and very delicious. I did not like the chili wonton but I have also heard that the noodles here are good so I will try it again next time. It is a little pricey but the staff were very friendly. The restaurant was a little dirty and I thought it was strange how the water is already poured at every table. My water had some dust or something in it.

Yelp
This restaurant is my new favorite place. I've gotten or tried at least ten things here and it was almost all good to amazing. Chili Wontons: this dish is the best! better than my previous favorite place to get this dish, Din Tai Fung. The chilii wontons here have thin skin, perfectly seasoned filling and spicy sauce. it's just absolute perfection. Pork XLB: The skin thickness is perfect and you can see all the soupiness pooled in there. I usually don't enjoy this as much bc i think as a concept it's a bit one note, but I do think this place has one of the best XLB in the area. Smoked Duck (off official menu special) It's served lukewarm and it wasn't really much to eat in the restaurant but it makes the best leftovers and for some reason tastes so much better reheated. Scallion Pancake: tastes super thin and super homemade, very good! Shanghai Pork Wonton soup: my friend got this, i tried it, the flavors are a bit simple. there are better options. Shanghai Scallion oil noodles: the noodles were nice but the seasoning and flavors were not very umami or interesting. Sheng Jian Bao: husband's favorite dish. meat is seasoned well, perfectly cooked. It's a good dish, there are other places in the area that do it just as well (China Queen), but it's done well here

Yelp
Narrow, small, and, tight spot. A 25+ minute wait there was on this Saturday night. Friendly and efficient service. Pleasant tasting freshly made quite pricey dishes. To my surprise, the highlight this evening was their crispy and flavorful "Shanghai Scallion Pancake". As for the rest, too sweet for my taste "shanghai fried rice cake"; and, though very juicy inside, very thick was the skin to their "crab yolk pork dumplings". Cheers!

James Z.

Yelp
New Shanghainese restaurant from Vegas. Really liked seeing some authentic Shanghai dishes freshly made. They have a glass you can see the workers making the dumplings. We got the soup dumplings, shengjian bao, chili wontons, and scallion oil noodles. Everything came out very fresh and piping hot. Soup dumplings were loaded with soup and had a nice smooth flavor to it. Wrappers were very thin. Shengjian bao was crispy and super hot. Be careful when biting down because the juices will squirt out. They were in the smaller side but 4 to an order. Scallion oil noodles were very fragrant and solid. Chili wontons also tasted good and sauce had some depth to it. However, the only downside to the restaurant is how small it is and how few tables there are. We sat at the back along the wall and we basically shared a table with the people next to us. My wife sat on the inside against the wall and she couldn't get out without the two tables next to us also getting up to let her out. It felt like we were on an airplane. They also don't let you add items to your order because of how small and busy they are so they can get you out. Lowering to 4 stars because the atmosphere did prevent us from truly enjoying the food.

Bianca G.

Yelp
Delicious! MUST stop, this hidden gem is absolutely unique. Seated fast, meal hot and served with in ten minutes. Inside is minimal chic. Everyone kind and upbeat.

Melissa H.

Yelp
A solid 3.75*. The location is very small, so I would not recommend a party of more than 4. The location would have difficulty accommodating comfortably, in my opinion. The downside is that there is no take-out, only dine in as an option. I went on a Tuesday night for dinner around 7:30PM with a friend. You can put yourself in queue on the tablet when you enter, but I only had to wait for 5 minutes before we were quickly seated. While I was waiting, the host handed me a menu for me to preemptively look at while I was waiting. Service was quick. Both the kitchen and staff were attentive and efficient in placing and serving orders promptly. We ended up ordering 3 dishes 1. Shanghai Noodles with Chili Soybean Paste. This came in a soup, and it wasn't anything special. It was a basic noodle dish that was a bit plain, and although it had chili in the name, there was no heat or kick to it at all. I would not recommend ordering this, but maybe the Shanghai Scallion Noodles instead. 2. Traditional Shanghai Juice Steamed Pork Dumplings: This is the traditionally known Xiao Long Bao, or Soup Dumplings. This came with 7 soup dumplings, that I thought were good. Not the best that I've had, but decent. The broth inside the dumpling was juicy and flavorful. Be careful when eating it; it can get hot! 3. Pan Fried Sheng Jian: These are essentially the pan fried version of the soup dumplings, and the flavor of this actually came to be a pleasant surprise. I would order this dish again, but it does only come with 4. The broth inside these pan fried dumplings was also delicious. I hope they do take out soon because I would swing by to satiate a quick craving for soup dumplings!

Eri H.

Yelp
Hmmm. It's not quite 4 stars but closer to a 4 than 3. Service is non existent. Don't expect to be greeted, get any explanation of their menu (they have an English translation), and the dining tables are all squished together in a small space. We were seated right next to another party of two and we were so close to one another that our elbows were touching when we moved just a little bit. Food was brought out pretty fast, the soup was not quite tasty (thankfully not salty or too greasy), the dim sum were decent. But give the fact that many locals came here to dine means the food must be worth the wait and sitting uncomfortably until you are done with your meal. Definitely not a place to come to have a nice family and group dinner and enjoy your meal in peace and quiet. But a great place to grab a bite and leave quickly.

Taylor B.

Yelp
Delicious soup dumplings!! Small space so be prepared to wait during prime hours. Well worth it!

Em J.

Yelp
This is a very narrow restaurant with limited seating. You may share a table with another party if they are busy. Service is okay; you just need to flag someone whenever you need something. The food was good, but the portions did feel small for the price point. I enjoyed the pan fried buns and the xiao long bao. They were out of some items that we were interested in.

Paul G.

Yelp
This was a small restaurant that was clean and nicely decorated. The service was mediocre but expected among Chinese restaurants. I felt that all the noodle dishes that this place served were not good at all. However, there are some exceptional dishes here like sheng jian, juicy steamed pork dumpings (XLB), soy sauce marinated duck and marinated fish which were exceptionally good, among the best I've tried in my life, so I do like this place and wished that their prices were cheaper and they have more seats, but for the taste and quality of the food, I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone, especially the dishes that I highlighted earlier.

Richard T.

Yelp
Went for lunch on a Friday about 12:30, was pretty packed, 10 min wait for party of 2. Tried a couple dishes but basically would get the spicy won ton and xlb again. Would stay away from the noodle soup that we got, just kind of bland. Xlb probably some of the better in the metroplex.

Haiqing X.

Yelp
I have not seen 生煎包 (pan-fried soup dumpling) in Dallas before. It's our favorite. Xiao Long Bao here is the closest to the authentic ones in Shanghai. We come here every other week. There's always a waitlist during weekends.

Dan H.

Yelp
Quite a small restaurant, so limited seating. They were able to seat 5 of us with a short wait on Saturday brunch time. The food was mediocre, I didn't find anything extremely flavorful. The dumplings were well packed and the veggies tasted fresh. Would possibly come back to try again for their wonton soups.

Kelly L.

Yelp
This restaurant is among one of the new Asian restaurants along a small strip. It is very narrow with limited seating. There were 3 servers and 1 person who cleared the tables. The food came out fast and the wait is not that long. The steamed juicy dumplings were amazing. There is so much juice that you see it through the skin. There is something extra in the juice ... great flavor. So ... The juicy pan fried buns are super juicy! It squirted all over my plate and into a bowl next to the plate. Bite a small hole first to drink the juice and then crunch into the crispy bottom. So good! We ordered the shrimp fried noodles and it was also good. The noodles were cooked just right with a chewyness to it. The dumplings and the buns were the best.

Sindy W.

Yelp
Be prepared for a LONG wait! They told us about half an hour wait, but we waited for over an hour. There is also no takeout service, there aren't many people in the kitchen making the food, especially the soup dumplings so the wait for them once you order is also long. Overall flavor of food was not worth the wait... Try at your own risk. - Beef fried rice: rice was too salty but beef had no flavor. Also the rice is too soft for fried rice. - Wonton in chilli sauce: if you're expecting the dingtaifung chilli sauce, don't order this. The sauce is straight up chilli oil ... If you want wontons, maybe try the wontons in soup instead. - Pan fried pork buns: lots of soup and crispy on the bottom, but the bun was too doughy..the meat also has a very rubbery texture. - Pork soup dumplings (XLB): Lots of soup, but the flavor is off .. meat texture is like the fried pork buns, a little chewy and too salty. I like the 88baobao soup dumplings MUCH better! There's also no ginger!! - Sweet & sour spare ribs: too salty, lacking the sweet and especially the sour taste. Don't order this if you typically order this dish.

Breana H.

Yelp
Anyone complaining that this place doesn't serve any beverage other than water, needs to find somewhere else to eat. The food is why you come here. It is a small little spot with everything you need but nothing more. Quick service and delicious food. Get the spicy wontons and any of the noodles. I want to eat here for every meal.

Rice C.

Yelp
The pork soup dumplings are too sweet, actually...this is the only taste in them...not impressed. DTF or wu wei ding have way better dumplings... The cold ck dish is average, you can make it at home btw. The stir fry noodles with pork is also average with too much oil in it! My husband's stomach felt weird after eating them! Overall service is lacking, portion is small like appetizers size. I won't recommend it. You can skip it if you are looking for something like Wu wei ding.

Vera P.

Yelp
The taste is good and worth a try, typical Shanghainese food. 味道不错,上海人的口味! 上海炒牛糕有锅底味,小云吞也不错店名和店铺相符合!值得一试.

Liz V.

Yelp
Hubby read about this place and decided to take me here for lunch as a surprise. This is such a cute place, they are small but they turn over the tables very quickly so it's not too long of a wait...and yes, there were A LOT of people here for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. Now on to the food - we ordered a lot because we were hungry but also had FOMO . The traditional soup dumplings were by far the best, in fact, better than anywhere else. The pan fried soup dumplings were also very good, lots of soup inside but the bottoms were still very crispy. The wontons in chili oil has a kind of numbing and vinegar-y (tangy) taste, in a GOOD way. I liked it more the more I ate it. We also ordered the sweet and sour pork ribs, they aren't the sweet and sour you traditionally think of - more like Vietnamese caramelized pork ribs if you know what that tastes like. It was a good addition to the fried rice. The chocolate dumplings were good and had bananas inside which I liked. The only thing that we ordered and did not love was the scallion pancakes, they were a little too oily but everything else more than made up for it. We will definitely be back, maybe at a less busy time. The service was impeccable, we never had to ask for refills or anything, there was always someone around to check on us.

Mindy F.

Yelp
We ordered soup dumplings, wonton soup, and crispy shrimps. Food was mostly good but the wontons were pretty salty. services weren't great, however. They obviously forgot our dumplings, we waited for awhile after finishing the other two dishes. Eventually found a lady to ask about it after several attempts of getting their attention. She never came back letting us know the status, and the dumplings finally came when we were trying to ask again. They also were rushing us for payment as soon as the last piece of food was taken, the guy was obviously impatient when we were tipping and signing. Overall, the food wasn't that special, and services failed the expectation. Most likely won't return again.

Yaya M.

Yelp
Hubby and I both grew up with Shanghainese food. When Shanghai Taste was first opened, it was on our list to try. We went on a Friday night, arrived around 7:30pm and waited for about 20 minutes before sitting down. It was a small space . Tables are set very close to each other and felt like a communal dining experience. We ordered 1) Xiao Long Bao, 2) Pan fried buns, 3) sweet and sour ribs, 4) Fried tofu and vermicelli soup. Total $50 including tax and tip. The food came out pretty fast but the quality was underwhelming across the board. 1) XLB has a lot of juice, but after sucking out the juice, a lonely and tough little meatball was the only thing lefty in the filling. 2) Pan-fries buns had the same problem plus more. The bottom the pan-fried bun was very thick and crunchy, making it hard to eat. 3) Sweet sour ribs were OK. 4) Fried tofu and vermicelli soup was the very basic version, good portion size. The server offered us $10 off coupon for the next visit if we would show him a 5-star Google review about the restaurant. We left with our take up the offer. I will not go back. There are a of local restaurants having better Shanghai food.

Sarah T.

Yelp
This new spot serves excellent, authentic soup dumplings (Xiao long Bao), red oil wontons, pan fried pork buns, and all kinds of dumplings. You can watch the ladies make them fresh in the window at the front. The crab and pork xiao long bao reminded me of the ones in Asia. Don't miss the authentic Jiu3 Niang2 sweet rice soup dessert. Service was good the day we went. Minus one star for the prices (quantity is not much for what you get for the price compared with other similar places) and for the fact they don't offer takeout yet (hopefully soon).

Teresa H.

Yelp
Food was great and it had a really good crowd for a Thursday night. Would def come back!

Pat W.

Yelp
Delicious Chinese (Shanghainese) restaurant in Dallas! We came from Shanghai for a holiday and this was a great place to satisfy our craving for Shanghainese dishes! We ordered quite a number of dishes to try and it was pretty good! Not too salty and a quite a lot of options to choose from! * The Shanghai Crispy Shrimp is a must try! Friend perfectly and super addictive too! * The steamed dumplings are flavoursome and juicy too (eat soon after it's served to retain the heat of the soup inside). * The pan fried dumplings are very tasty! Let it cool down a little first before biting in to avoid burning with the hot soup retained inside! After one bite, you'll want more! * If you're very hungry, or here with a group, I'd recommend the friend rice to try too! Perfect pairing it with some of the appetisers and fried dishes to, such as the pork ribs, fried chicken and duck. The restaurant is not very large but service is fast and turn over is pretty efficient too. Modern and clean, and I have to mention the restrooms are one of the cleanest/ best I've been to for restaurants in Dallas (as of yet haha)! The staff are friendly, and very fast in taking orders/ requests. I'll be back next time I'm in the city :)

Giovanny E.

Yelp
This is the best soup dumpling in town. I enjoyed all the food i ordered except the pan fried dumpling. The place is small. You share table with others. It reminds me of Chinatown in NY. Service is great and fast. The restaurant is clean and neat.

Katherine G.

Yelp
Very nice Shanghai Food. Awesome Shanghai traditional food here. The food is amazing here. The dumpling is very juicy. I try the one in Las Vegas now we finally have it in DFW area!!! Chocolate dumpling is impressive! When it is busy a lot of people waiting, I will recommend to go afternoon.

Yelp
Food/Xiao Lon Bao: Soup came out of it was not authentic, taste gear toward americanize sweet sugary very simplistic approach. The skin is also not chewy bouncy enough for my taste although it didn't break. Other dishes I ordered were on smaller side and very oily. Space: Very tight, wife and I went for lunch, felt too cozy with the other unknown guest next to me. Service: Was told to order immediately when I was sat down, feels very rush. I came from big city but still come on I haven't even sat down yet they already ask me to put in my order while I was walking to my table. The bill auto select 18% btw and I thought there was not enough service provided to justify so. Overall: I will never come here again and I would not recommend to anyone. Constructing advice: Make your Xiao Lon Bao with authentic soup not your simple sugary water. To other reviewer who gave a 5 stars: I really want to have a conversation with you.

First day of operation. Over ordered. Average price. Some items are great and some are average. Highly recommend the xiao long bao and sheng Jian bao. Wonton and its soup is great too. A little pricey. But something different. Will come again.

Yelp
Best Chinese restaurant I've had in Dallas in a long time! It's comparable to my favorite NYC Chinese spots. They have the best xiao long bao in Dallas & the Sheng jian actually has a ton of soup! Other favorites were the Shanghai rice cakes & brown sugar rice cakes. I'll definitely be back & order everything again but the fried chicken.

Yelp
The food is incredible. We will be back. The place was packed so go early. The service was also very good.

Yelp
Restaurant is a bit narrow and on the crampier side. Had to sit literally elbow to elbow to the next table. Service was fast but they do not allow any addons to the first order which was weird. Food is exceptional, better than the top taiwanese or xiao long bao places. My complaint is only that the dumplings are so large that the skin tend to break while you try to pick them up. They dont use the traditional bamboo steamer but metal instead so that tends to stick with the skin. The noodle soup was great! Noodle is hand made. The spare ribs was disappointing. The crab and original soup dumplings are the best in town for sure as far as flavor goes. Will return again just for the dumplings!

Yelp
Absolutely authentic and delicious! We've heard of the famous Shanghai Taste from Vegas. Plano is their second location and definitely lives up to its reputation. While I agree with other reviewers that the restaurant is built small and narrow, for us the true flavor of Shanghai and the friendly service was enough to overcome the wait and less than ideal seating. Shanghai food is a lot more than soup dumplings. Everything on Shanghai Taste's menu is the real deal. We especially recommend the Shanghai stir fry noodles and the crispy shrimp!

Yelp
Food was good. Service was great. New place so dine in only right now. Limited menu from what I had at the Shanghai Taste in Las Vegas

Yelp
SERVICE ONLY REVIEW: I walked in to see if I was able to order a dish to go (shanghai noodles) but was advised it's a dine in only establishment. He didn't ask to see what I wanted to order, but was quick to point me to a small signage about their service. I didn't read the paragraph long notice as he was rushing and very busy trying to seat the waiting party. He definitely could've been a lot nicer about the entire situation it as it's a newly opened spot and rules/regulations are not posted on the exterior/door.

Yelp
Just went there for lunch with the fam. YUM! Had the: 1) Smoked Fish special (cross-cut slabs of unboned fish pan fried with a sweet & savory "hoisin"-type sauce - only 2nd time my 19 y/o's liked fish and 1st time for my 21 y/o since fish sticks as toddlers), 2) Shanghainese Fried Rice with Pork (delish, almost like sticky rice), 3) Curry Beef with Rice Noodle Soup (good), and 4) Traditional Shanghai Juicy Pork Steamed Dumplings (yum). Only complaint is serving sizes (except for the dumplings) were on the smaller end. Very small dining room (~10 small. tightly-packed tables) so be prepared to wait. We waited ~30 min for 4 at ~12:30 pm on a Sunday). Restroom was the cleanest, fanciest and most high tech - BY FAR - for a small, authentic Asian restaurant and above average even for nice western restaurants. Waitlist, ordering and payment processes were high tech also (kiosk check-in, text alerts, real-time website status (with # of tables ahead), and tablet payments). Host took our order while we waited to speed up the process. Can watch dumplings being made right next to waiting area. FYI, I'm an ARC (American Raised Chinese) since 7 y/o but fam had a Chinese restaurant growing up and have regularly patronized all types of restaurants (incl. American, Italian, Mexican, TexMex, Americanized Chinese, Cantonese, Sichuan, Taiwanese, Vietnamese, Japanese and Indian) for over 5 decades) in several U.S. and Asian cities.

Yelp
The food here is so good! I've loved every dish I've tried. The scallion noodles are by far my favorite.

Yelp
The place is small but cozy and clean. Food is good and service is fine. The only complaint I have is that their tip option is defaulted at 20% min unless you select "custom".

Yelp
Glad this Shanghai restaurant is finally opened! Tried couple dishes and they were quite authentic. Highly recommended!

Yelp
3.5 stars overall. The best dish was the fried chicken. XLB was disappointing, dough was too thick on the top, funky pork taste, lack of ginger sauce, not as delicate as it should be. I had high hopes upon seeing the workers making them fresh when I walked in the restaurant, so maybe I set my expectations too high. This restaurant is very small so be prepared to wait. Service was good, the waitress was super friendly, but one guy was a bit rude. He told us we could only order once, no second round because they want to turn the table quickly. He also politely kicked us out at 4:45pm saying they need to rest after we paid. I thought that was odd, not like we were ordering more food or demanding refills. I get it that they have plenty of customers since it's brand new and everyone wants to try this place, but to ask customers to leave was not a smart move to retain a loyal customer base for longevity.
