The Best Restaurants In Montauk - New York - The Infatuation

"A fantastic addition to Montauk in summer 2024, Shark Bar is the perfect combo of roadside beach bar kitsch and good food. From the team behind Mavericks, the outdoor surf shack is a post-sunbathing spot for fruity frozen cocktails and fancy little summer snacks. Why yes, that’s trout roe in the tartar sauce on that "fish sammie." Tap into your inner child with homemade frozen Snickers stuffed with sticky nougat and strawberry shortcake bars on a popsicle stick. There's no dress code at all, and sandy feet are totally fine to plop under an umbrella while you dig into a pile of lobster fried rice." - melissa kravitz hoeffner, team infatuation

We stumbled across shark bar and were so pleasantly surprised by our meal, we are still talking about it. The menu is small but every dish is well thought out and elevated with quality ingredients and thoughtful flavors. The weather wasn’t great the day we went but they have a beautiful outdoor section along with some tables inside as well. Great lunch spot to hit with friends!

Amazing experience! Food is tasty. I recommend and I will go back for the fish Sammy. Nice spot before you go to the beach or in Montauk. You should take a moment.

We decided to give this place a try as not much was open on that particular weekday last week. Service was great, and my mussels were fabulous! My husband had the burger and onion rings. Burger was very sad looking, he’s had much better in a diner for half the price. He enjoyed the onion rings but they were quite greasy. Another positive is that they handed out citronella patches and bracelets, as well as lighting oil lamps around the perimeter, as it got buggy.

Went on a slow Sunday. Service was really exceptional and I felt at home. Had oysters and fries to eat, both superb. Beers were great and tried their shark attack which was amazing. Staff had football on and were happy to play whatever music I wanted. Would definitely go back especially if I stay nearby again. Thanks guys!

Google
By far the best meal I had in Montauk. The poke bowl was exceptional and full of flavor. Everything from the freshness of the fish to the pineapple, the crispy rice (so good), the flavorful mayo. It was perfectly balanced. My husband also said his lobster roll was one of the best he’s had. We will be back.

We stopped here on our way home for a quick bite. It turned out to be my favorite meal in MTK! We had the shrimp cocktail, hummus, poke bowl and fries. Everything was so fresh. The service was great with a laid back atmosphere. Highly recommend stopping in the next time you're in the area.

Google
Fantastic food with a creative menu, delicious and refreshing cocktails and exceptional service. We enjoyed our conversation with our server who gave us some great tips for our trip. We were welcomed with open arms and appreciated being able to play a lively game of cornhole with our pre-dinner drink. Come for the food, stay for the vibes

Yelp
Great vibes, relaxed and casual with next-level fare & fantastic cocktails. the spicy watermelon margarita is so fresh, and the piño verde was an excellent chartreuse twist on the colada. ordered the fish sammie and shark burger, both absolutely fantastic. worth stopping off on the way out or before the way in to montauk.

Yelp
We had a great experience at Shark Bar! The food was absolutely amazing, and the service was so kind and quick -- you can tell the staff really cares about making sure guests have a good time. A couple of things to note: there were no fans outside, and on a hot afternoon, it definitely got uncomfortable. Also, the prices were steep -- our bill for two people (an appetizer, two drinks, a kids meal, and two entrees to share) came to $400, which felt excessive for a casual bar setting, even in the Hamptons. Thankfully, we knew the manager, and they comped a few items, bringing the total down to $200 -- much more in line with what you'd expect for this type of spot. All in all, great food, fun vibe, but be prepared for Hamptons pricing -- and maybe go on a cooler day if you want to sit outside!

Yelp
The produce is all from local farms, everything is super fresh. The staff overall is super friendly and knowledgeable. Great chill vibes and super underrated. Love this place!

Yelp
Wow! With all of the expensive places out here, it's nice to find one that is worth it! All outdoor but some shelter. Fun ambience, with funky surfer art and an upscale beach vibe. What set's it aside from the others is the staff and the food. The best lobster roll ever, with nice fresh herbs and lots of lobster. The lobster fried rice had layers of flavor and fun ingredients. Also, the frozen watermelon marg with some spice and The Best mezcal marg with pineapple and tamarind. It was a cold foggy Monday in June and still has a nice group there. Can't wait to go back!

Yelp
Two stars for their lobster fried rice, which is actually a very salty lobster bibimbap (avoid), however five stars for the rest! The outdoor vibe is so chill and welcoming, the shark bite cocktail is insanely delicious, and their homemade take on your childhood strawberry shortcake popsicle is right-on. Would come back for drinks, a different dish, and dessert.

Yelp
Food was great! I had the Chicago dog and my dining companions had fish sandwichs. They loved theirs and I loved mine. We had a single BBC and it was well executed including the floater. IYKYK The atmosphere was really nice and relaxing. We had a great conversation with the guy behind the bar who I expect was an owner. All in all a great experience. We hope to make it back soon.

Yelp
Food was amazing! Bartender was very quick and service was friendly and attentive. We had such a great day here, planned on going to the beach for the day but had so much fun that we ended up spending the entire afternoon here with zero regrets! Can't wait to come back!

Yelp
What a great place! Super friendly staff. They even ask if you have everything you need and ask if you are enjoying your meal. Prices are reasonable for out east. Menu is simple and food is tasty. Great breezy ambience and cheerful atmosphere. Try their Snickers dessert- homemade- yum!

Yelp
It was fine. It should be a 3 1/2, but no way to do that. The service was friendly and helpful, and the seating was comfortable for an outdoor beach bar on the highway. The food was pretty good, and not particularly expensive for the Hamptons. We started with a spicy frozen watermelon margarita, which was a bit too spicy. Apparently the waitress had heard this a number of times, but the bartender hasn't changed the formula. The tuna poke was pretty good, if unconventional. All the elements, avocado, mushroom, cucumber, radish and tuna were separated, and laid on top of a light marinade. We also had the tomato salad special appetizer. Also pretty good. For mains my wife had the lobster fried rice, and i had the shark shack burger, which pretty much resembles a Shake Shack burger, except there are pickled jalapeños, which made the burger really spicy. I recommend asking for them on the side and adding your preferred amount. It was a solid basic dinner, nothing bad, not overwhelmingly amazing, but if you're looking for a place to drop in at the last minute, this might be it.

Yelp
Great food in a casual setting! Order the Dressed Oysters and the Beet Hummus Appetizer and the Papas Bravas! A seasonal venue! Stop by next season! It will not disappoint!

Yelp
My sis and I got take out and she ordered the gluten free quinoa salad with a side of grilled shrimp and I ordered the cucumber salad w a side of grilled shrimp. Both meals were absolutely delicious. The cucumber salad had a sweet and salty tang. There were 4 grilled shrimp in each of our orders and they were large had a ton of flavor. My only complaint was the serving size for the price of the cucumber salad. It was very small-like a quarter of a quart container. I believe it was $19. In my opinion it was too expensive for the amount of food but it is Montauk - nothing is cheap!! The service was fast and friendly during our pick up. The ambience looks lovely. Hydrangeas and corn hole adorned the outside tables and a large bar.

Yelp
The food was disgusting that I almost vomited. I ordered lobster fried rice and it was disgusting. The fried rice was hard and spicy. This place needs better food.

Yelp
Shark Bar is a wonderful new restaurant to go into that space. The food is delicious and different from what's around. There is a wide range of flavor influences in the dishes: Vietnamese, Japanese, Middle Eastern, new American- but they actually all deliver. We have been back multiple times and everything has been great. Our favorite is the mussels, served in a curry sauce that you'll want to dip everything on the table into. The service has always been spot on and the staff is friendly and down to earth. The cocktails are great too. I'm in the biz so I don't review much but I really hope they stay and do well.

Yelp
What a find! That Shark Shack Burger- WOW. I'm a little worried this place will become too popular -- it's that good....

Yelp
Best new spot in town! Great burgers, lobster rolls and the drink menu instantly puts you in vacation mode. Feels like MTK in the good old days!
