Hot days call for cold dishes, right? Sandwiches, pasta salad, cold Asian noodles, sushi, poke, but how often does a Seattleite think of..... ceviche?? Well Seattle, Shark Bite Ceviches recently opened in Stumbletown.
I've been here twice and so far I've tried the salmon ceviche plate, the halibut tosticeviche (sp?) and shrimp tosticeviche.
The generous portion of ceviche was bursting with delicious citrus flavor. The fish is cut into tiny pieces, making it easier for scooping up. However, I prefer when the fish is cut up into slightly bigger pieces so that I can taste it better.
Now the tosticeviche was a surprising little adventure. I decided to try it on a whim not expecting to love it due to the amount of different ingredients that were put together in a chip bag, which I questioned would work cohesively.
But man was I wrong! The tajin, ketchup, hot sauce, Tostitos salsa verde chips, Japanese peanuts, jicama, cucumber, avocado, and ceviche mixed together is a magical combination of flavors and is what I must get from Shark Bite from now on.
Keep in mind, the server will give you a choice of whether or not you want all three choices: tajin, ketchup, and hot sauce.
You also can have it served in the Tostitos bag or a to go box. I like it in the bag because the chips soak up the ceviche juice but I also like it in the box since it is cleaner.
In addition, there are a ton of hot sauce options available to spice things up, if you so please.
The large outdoor picnic benches with umbrellas are the perfect invitation to spend a warm day enjoying your cool meal. I think this might be a new summer hangout for me.
