Great service. Clean, lively vibe. You know, TVs proudly showing off their moment in the Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives spotlight. It's got that yup yup yum yum energy, which I'm guessing is the universal signal for "this place is legit," or maybe just for family dinner time--who knows.
Now, onto the food. Ordered the chicken shawarma cheesesteak for about $15. The concept is solid: marinated chicken shawarma, caramelized onions, bell peppers, jalapeños, and melted white American cheese--all stuffed into a toasted Amoroso roll. I mean, who doesn't love a cheesy, messy sandwich? It was tasty, but oh boy, was it rich. Like, you need to be under 30 to eat this more than once a year, rich. Definitely a "once in a while" thing for anyone who's thinking about their cholesterol.
But let's talk about the plate. They lost me here. The meat? It was shaved but felt kinda dry. The seasoning was decent, but the chicken (and the beef) didn't have enough moisture. Or maybe it was the sauce? I don't know, but it felt a little parched. And the rice was kinda wet --would've preferred it to be fluffier, but that's just me.
Maybe Halal Guys from NYC has ruined me for life. Sauce, folks. Sauce...
Maybe Shwarma Guys egg rolls are the real MVP here, I haven't tried them yet. But overall? Great service. Good cheesesteak. The plate? S'okay.
