"Like B&M, Sheiks is part restaurant, part market. They have several different menus and make Guyanese-style roti that you can get plain or with dhal puri, which adds an extra layer of flavor and texture. They serve the goat separately from the bread because of the bones, but the rest of the fillings come wrapped inside—their beef and potato roti is delicious and their vegetarian roti is one of the best in the city. It contains the perfect balance of sweet pumpkin mash, spinach, potato, and channa (mashed curried chickpea). The rotis come out fresh, and unlike at other shops, you can see all the filings through the glass at the counter. They also fold and roll their roti into the shape of burritos instead of into a thick square like most Trinidadian spots, but they’re still a good size." - yolande clark jackson

Sheiks has a casual and informal atmosphere and always busy at lunch time. I tend to pre-order for pickup. Their curry goat, pumpkin and buss-up-shut are great. Staff are always friendly And they eventually remember you and your order especially when you order the same thing every time.

Google
First time visitor. Guyanese cuisine but similar to most other Caribbean islands. Definitely a wide variety of dishes. Oxtail fish, goat, beef n chicken Prices are reasonable. At 4 pm some dishes already sold out. Friendly staff but service a little slow. There's a small clean dine-in area as well an area with Caribbean dry goods for purchase. Wanted curry fish but it was sold out. White rice also sold out. Purchased oxtail and curry beef and both were delicious. Will be back.

Google
I love the authenticity of their food but sometimes ordering on a Saturday isn’t the best option. The line will literally be out of the store and the frustration will dampen the usually great customer service. The food is A1 for Guyanese cuisine. Prices are exceptional.

Google
I went today for the first time and I regret not going before. Amazing flavorful and fresh Caribbean food. They earned another loyal customer in me. I'll definitely come back for more. Shrimp curry on point and the roti was fresh and delicious.

Javier Talavera

Google
The combination of Caribbean Indian food was very unique. The selection of groceries was outstanding. The prices were very reasonable. The service was great. Cafeteria style, so don't expect table service.

Dion P.

Google
One of the best family-owned Trinidadian restaurants in Pembroke Pines. Exceptional customer service, welcoming and friendly staff. They assist in selecting food options. Affordable menu items, don't miss the lunch specials! Check them out!

I was in Dillard’s buying shoes, my rep was A Trini woman. I asked her where I could buy some roti & she recommended this place. I came immediately after I left the store. The curry lamb is DELICIOUS!!!!!! Don’t let the grocery store vibe inside this local spot turn you around.

Google
This place should never be considered a bakery. This is my 4th time stopping here, and they rarely have any baked goods. I asked the girl on Saturday, and she said they really don't bake on weekends. How is that possible when most people shop on weekends. Then I asked what about during the week. She said at 1pm they would have certain products, then after 2:30, they will have additional products. So, I got the only thing they had in Showcase pinetart and blackeye Cake. They looked good but were an epic fail. Both were lacking filling

Denis M.

Yelp
Very good roti. Very slow service, I placed a takeout order at 11:15 AM on Saturday, August 31. I was told they were busy, and the order would not be ready until 12 noon. I asked if I could pick it up at 12:30 PM for sure and I was told yes. I arrived at 12:30 they asked for my name and the order, took the payment by credit card and then told me they had just received the order at 12:30. Anyway, I wish them well

Rebecca Y.

Yelp
As a Guyanese girl, I'm pretty picky when it comes to buying Guyanese food, but this is definitely a great spot! I've been there twice so far, and the food has been great both times. The food tastes home cooked and the service is quick. So far I've had the goat curry, beef curry, and chicken curry and all 3 tasted like they could have come out of my mom's kitchen. They also have a small grocery area where you can find different spice and sauces and some frozen goods. I haven't tried their baked goods yet, but that will be on my list for my next visit.

Siddiqua A.

Yelp
Went by to Sheiks Cafe for lunch today. I ordered my usual chicken roti and pumpkin, and also to my order, I added pies and a soda. Today's service was on point! The wait time was less than 5 minutes, which was amazing. Keep up the great job, ladies. Love that Sheiks, have a large dining area for lunch/dinner. They also sell a lot of Caribbean products( pepper sauces, snacks, and drinks!

Melissa R.

Yelp
Located close to home, I frequently come here to order my roti to go. The ambiance is very casual and mostly for to go orders. There is some seating however the restaurant gets pretty packed with to go orders that dining in can be a little difficult. I normally order the dhal puri skin which is special order and get my curry and pumpkin on the side instead of wrapped. The curry is very flavorful, the portions are good. The pumpkin just adds a sweet touch to the savory meal. Order ahead as there is a long line to place to go orders. I heard that the patties are fantastic so can't wait to go back and try it.

Paul H.

Yelp
In a shopping mall on Pines and University in Pembroke Pines is this Caribbean cafeteria and shop specializing in roti breads. It has Caribbean products for purchase, s bakery with different roti breads, snd a cafeteria to order a meal. I had a curry shrimp roti sandwich. The sandwich was huge snd very filling. Lots of shrimp. Loved the curry spices. I will definitely return.

Inthiaz S.

Yelp
Haven't hand a bad meal from them since I started going there! I always get the doubles or curry goat and roti. I haven't tried anything else since I started to go there

Clarke C.

Yelp
My friend raved about this place so I said let me give it a try, the only thing I could say is that the mithai was fresh and tasted really good. I ordered the lunch special I literally watch the young lady scrape the bottom of the pan and put in my dish I was very disappointed the roti was okay but was not pleased with the chow mein or the curry. Would I go back??? Probably just got the mithai. Try for yourself, as I said my friend seems to think they are great and eats there often.

A G.

Yelp
Great roti and doubles. Love the food and the service is nice as well. I always call in my order, because the walk-in line can be long.

Alejandro G.

Yelp
I haven't had Guyanese food in 15 years. The moment I tasted the food, all of these wonderful memories came flooding back, and I cried. Thank you so much for being here. I'm gonna be coming by a lot!

Nichelle W.

Yelp
The food is amazing, the ambience is chill, the service is... "Be patient ". If you call ahead past 3 PM, just add an hour and a half before you go to pick it up. I'm not even exaggerating. Is it worth it? Yes.

Crise E.

Yelp
Amazing fresh food everytime!! Love the roti & goat curry the line could be a little quicker though.

Natasha H.

Yelp
Love this roti shop, great food, fast service and the veggie roti with the pumpkin is amazing.

Marv P.

Yelp
The food is delish.... A tad salty if you don't lean that way. Salt fish and bake Sunday mornings- they cook it with potatoes. The service is friendly. Lots of staff to help. But there is a wait and a line. If you strike up a chat with the next person, the time goes quickly The prices for their cooked food is astoundingly low. Ambience The store is neat and clean, spacious and bright. Pine tart anybody?

Tasheena G.

Yelp
I LOVE THIS PLACE! This is the only place I come for veggie roti! They make it with love! I put my father on & now he comes here. Everything we had here was bomb.com

Alejandro G.

Yelp
The staff and owner are so very kind. They are customer service-oriented and the food is beyond delicious!! I highly recommend Sheik's Bakery! I always get the vegetable roti and doubles. Their food never disappoints and the owner always goes above and beyond to take care of his customers. Thank you all very much for the wonderful experience and you will always have a customer.

Mel E.

Yelp
Ohhhhhhh my tastebuds!!!!! This place was incredible! I ate a little bit of everything and looking forward to the next time. The quality of food is authentic and flavorful. Sheiks makes your palate dance. From the shrimp with fried rice, tandoori chicken, curry chicken, roti and sweet cake. It was perfect! Please go and support this place. The service was nice and authentic. Thanks Sheiks! We will be back and thank you for the great experience!

Nelson M.

Yelp
Well we where at work the other day and wondering where we would go to have lunch on a Friday. One of my staff mentioned Sheik's Cafe and said the food was excellent and affordable and that we should check it out. After a bit of discussion we all decided to check it out as we where all in the mood for some good Roti and some Dahl. The layout of the restaurant is a market / restaurant type setup. To order food you basically make a line to order your food, pay and then pick it up after you pay. I ordered the Veggie Somosa's and the Chicken Rôti with Dahl. Both items were excellent. Somosa's were crisp and hot and very tasty. The Roti was awesome as well. Feel free to ask for the hot stuff but be careful the hardcore homemade hot sauce is pretty hot. They have a nice selection of food items so you can't go wrong for lunch. This is also a family owned business and you can tell they do all the cooking so it is pretty legit. After your done you can walk around the market and check out the middle eastern food products which are pretty interesting. Parking should not be a problem as it is located in a mall that has plenty of it. This place seems to get pretty busy, so you may want to get there early for lunch if you are on a tight schedule. So if you are in the mood for some good middle eastern fair for lunch and are in the area, you may want to check them out and support a family business while you are at it. Enjoy and Bon Appétit!

Yelp
This is the closest experience I've had to the "Soup Nazi" episode of Seinfeld in my life. There is a bit of a line and the service is very efficient/to the point. You should really know what you want before you get in line because they don't have much time for people who aren't familiar with Guyanese or Trini food (as I was the first time I went). That being said, this is some of the most delicious, stick to-your-ribs, savory food I've ever had and any annoyance my party had with the no-frills service melted away as soon as we took our first bites. My recommendation for anyone coming for their first is that you get a roti wrap (like a burrito, but the roti used to wrap is soft and delicious) with whatever you want on the inside (I do veg, but my partner's mother likes the chicken). The inside is also a small grocery store for Trini ingredients and there are some small tables that are clean and perfectly suited for the 5 minutes it takes to a scarf down their incredible food. Enjoy!

Yelp
Came across this gem and reviews are true to form! I don't normally write reviews but this deserves an exception. I also know good tasty Caribbean food bc, well, I have native bonafide credentials and I'm picky. Food (and customer service) at Sheiks hands down fantastic! Ordered the Tandoori chicken special with chickpeas and curry goat with Roti --mmm mmm good! To top it off, prices are reasonable so you can try different menu items and portions quite generous. Ok, so the wait was a bit lengthy but I view that as a testament to good food and demand for it--Good things come to those who wait! Plus enjoy the vibes and make a friend while waiting! Sheiks, time to expand you've got another customer!

Irene M.

Yelp
Enjoyed another small chicken roti for lunch! I'm definitely doing large next time. It is sooo flavorful & delicious! The chicken is so juicy. The location itself has a little market to buy additional goodies & limited seating for indoor dining. Very casual establishment but super clean & smells amazing when you walk in.

Lin H.

Yelp
Good food at a decent price . Service is good restaurant only open for take out they have a long lunch line . The lunch special is varied as a vegan I can have whit rice with 3 veggies for 5 bucks . Those that eat meat your choice is tandoori chicken or goat or meat . Not bad come check it out parking is good . This business is in same plaza as Loews . I had the wrap with four veggies oh so good .

Nicole B.

Yelp
My family & I love to pick up Sheiks whenever we get together. The staff is exceptionally courteous & helpful, & the food is delectable! The eggplant curry is my favorite . =] I highly recommend you try Sheiks as well. fyi, beware the pepper masking as a cherry in the eggplant. If not accustomed to a bit of a kick, may need a yogurt on hand.

Jai L.

Yelp
Beware, aside from the preorder to pick up your order, the wait is minimum 1/2 hr or longer just waiting to pick up! Your lucky if your preorder is ready or correct. Now recently noticed a surcharge ($2.38) on credit card receipt for using credit card...Not sure if this is flat rate or based on total purchase!

S M.

Yelp
I haven't been to this restaurant in almost four years. This is the first time that I've not only returned to a restaurant I previously 1 starred, but it's also the first time I've returned to a restaurant who's food got me really sick. The service has improved dramatically, it no longer takes them forever to make a roti. I did call in an order recently but when I arrived it was not ready, but they already knew my order and made it promptly. Previously they would never make your order when you called it in, they would ask you again when you walked in what you ordered and then go make it. So every time I arrived I would get really pissed off, you could literally see death on my face. People have no idea how much I loathe unnecessary waiting. The food is still tasty and very affordable so I pass by pretty often for a quick lunch. A large boneless chicken roti with a small side of pumpkin is about $7.50, and when I add my ATF sorrel it comes out to about $10.50, you can't beat that.

Jabie J.

Yelp
Food is always good and fresh. They are reasonably priced. Best to order ahead as they are busy.

Cheyenne R.

Yelp
The Best Caribbean food is South Florida! Very fresh and authentic. I love their roti and veggie plates! Also, one of the very few restaurants that sell a side of pumpkin! They also have a Caribbean grocery store to get a lot of goods that cannot be found at you local grocery store!

Luis C.

Yelp
This restaurant is actually Guyanese, and it's definitely worth a trip. Good food, good prices, good people

Ayesha R.

Yelp
This place is great. They have another side that has seating. Also you can pick up Caribbean spices and a little groceries. Best place to get the most freshest roti. I love the roti skins hear and dalpuri. I recommend the veggie plate. I recommend this place great lunch specials.

Jacqueline C.

Yelp
Very delicious food. So authentic, crave it all the time. They're extremely busy every day. The service amazing and friendly staff

Jo H.

Yelp
I had a taste for some roti and decided to take a drive to Pembroke Commons to get some at Sheiks Bakery & Café. Once I opened the door, there were plenty of people standing in line ordering and picking up food. Now I know what a can of sardines feels like, but with the place packed like this should only indicate that the food must be good. So while waiting in line to place my order, I did some observations. The bakery/café part of Sheiks was small with a few table seating for patrons. Pastries, cakes, and sweets were neatly displayed behind the counter. There are a variety of West Indian entrees, appetizers, breads, and roti/dhal puri wraps all under $20. There's also daily specials from 11am - 3pm for $5.25. The employees are pleasant, and if you're known to be a regular customer, then the employees would strike up a small conversation with you...like island people would normally do when you haven't seen each other in a while. The line was moving steadily and I placed my order for two large roti skin to go. I was told the wait will be ten minutes so I decided to check out the grocery part of Sheiks, which was filled with more table seating for patrons and a variety of West Indian products such as Milo, bottles of hot pepper sauce; canned salmon, mackerel, and evaporated milk; various crackers, mauby, sorrel, peardrax, vegetables, personal hygiene products, and frozen meat & fish. The roti, which was hot and neatly wrapped, was very good. It was cooked nicely and didn't have that doughy taste. I'm looking forward to returning to Sheiks and try other dishes.

Mikey A.

Yelp
Garbage service. I've never been to a restaurant where the staff is so dismissive. It's not like the food is so overwhelmingly good that they can afford to treat people like crap.

James L.

Yelp
Had this place on my radar for awhile; with a great reputation and some great reviews many claim it to be one of the top Caribbean/Indian restaurants in the area. Came in with one thing on my mind, Roti! Arrived shortly after they opened hoping everything would be fresh and readily available. Ordered a chicken Roti and a Goat Roti and was told to give it about ten minutes. Took a browse around while waiting as they also have a small grocery section with a nice amount of Jamaican, Caribbean and even English products, they even had almost an entire rack dedicated just to hot sauces!! Food took about 10 minutes to prepare and ran me around $15, not bad at all. Took it to go and hurried home to enjoy it fresh and hot. The chicken Roti was great, mixed nicely with potatoes and an array of spices making the flavor excellent. The goat version (which they don't wrap) was also delicious but not as good, not sure what it was missing but it seemed incomplete. I will definitely be going back to sample some of their other dishes and some samosa's which caught my eye as I browsed.

Amy B.

Yelp
This bakery food is closest to home (Suriname) ! Chicken roti is everything ! You won't regret it... their veggie roti taste good too if you're a vegetarian.

Stefano P.

Yelp
Love to get takeout roti from this bakery when I am jonesin for some Caribbean food. The flavor is spectacular. The food is always fresh. I have tried a few places and this always hits the spot on authenticity. It's that real island flavor that you get locally when visiting T&T and really any of the local islands. If this place was closer it would be dangerous cause I would order from here more often. If you are in the area, and you want some good, homemade Caribbean food, don't pass this place up.

Michael B.

Yelp
Excellent choice of Caribbean food. The food is well prepared and the prices are reasonable

Yonette B.

Yelp
Literally the best West Indian/Guyanese food in south Florida. I've visited This hidden gem a couple of times before actually reviewing them. When I walked into the restaurant at first I couldn't help but notice how clean it was. Although they're a very busy place they manage to keep their great customer service and cleanliness. The food is very authentic and delicious! I've tried most of the pastries and I mostly enjoy the cheese roll and pine tart. Their curries are very well seasoned with the perfect amount of spices it's as if I'm eating at my grandmas house in Guyana. The dhal is amazing! They also have Indian bariyani that goes really well with the BBQ chicken. It's a must try and it compliments any of their curries and rice. I always leave with extras for later on in the week being I live all the way in Coral Springs. I love this place and I will definitely be going back more often, it's my comfort food and it's perfect for when I'm missing home.

Dana M.

Yelp
Came into Sheiks on a Friday afternoon because my daughter wanted a Shrimp roti. We walked in and ordered and waited about 5-10min for our order. I must say their roti is really good. The right amount of spice and lots of shrimp loaded with curry flavor. So good. Can't wait to come back and try more of their dishes.

Sor H.

Yelp
I ordered beforehand and they gave me an estimate when to pick the food up,I arrive there, food is not ready.Next time I don't call and order before and suddenly there are 2 lines for pick up and order. Both don't make sense because the food is not ready either way. They should give the ladies who work here some food so they can work faster.maybe blast up the ac more so they don't work so slow.bad service l!

Tiana V.

Yelp
The food is always delicious but be prepared for a longgggg wait! It is worth it in the end though. I def like how fresh the food is and the serving size! Each roti is wrapped like a mini burrito making it perfect to hold. It's not like the other restaurants that give you this huge rotj that you can barely hold and you end up wasting half of it. Service is always great too ..sometimes the workers may look a little frustrated but that's understandable because there is always a high volume of orders ...which shows how good the food is. They have a nice little dining area and mini mart too to look around while they prepare your food. Lots of options...Vegan, meat etc! Love coming here for my roti fix.

Dean R.

Yelp
The best Guyanese food in south Florida, but the service is just terrible. Don't waste your time with preordering your food 99.9% of the time they don't have your food ready and then you have to place your order again. The staff is going to be the down fall of this restaurant. They all need some customer service training.

Jason P.

Yelp
It's pretty heartbreaking that I have to give this establishment a one star. The unprofessionalism, no manners, and don't admit to their faults. Vegetarian dishes for a prayer means no meat at all including egg. If your staff doesn't know that, you should educate them on it. Or take their time with orders and listen carefully when the customer is explaining. Still waiting for my refund.

Pragna A.

Yelp
This is my first time trying this Trinidadian cuisine(i believe so) and I have to say its like a muted down version of south Indian food. Prominent flavor in every dish even the Fried rice and Chow Mein was Yellow curry powder . Although I liked it in the first few dishes we ordered we grew over it and kinda felt boring/bland in the next few dishes we took out. We had a sit down lunch here and everything eaten fresh and hot was good especially the chicken roti and lamb curry . They were very generous with the portions and You get a lot for what you pay . As we loved our lunch here we took a couple of Combos for take out for dinner and it was not as good ,This food should be eaten piping hot and pretty much immediately after you get it.

Francine S.

Yelp
We've been trying to eat there for weeks but they close early and haven't updated the signs. On my fourth attempt, we went early enough and we were grossly disappointed. Some staff members were not wearing masks at all, one male staff member literally folded the mask in half so it didn't cover nose or bottom of mouth. They do not enforce social distancing. There were about 10 people waiting for food. Bought 2 curry chicken and 1 shrimp roti separate. The portions are small, portioned into an 6-8 oz cup and the roti was dense not fluffy. The shrimp was cooked until rubber and the sauce was too thick and tasteless. The Curried chicken lacked flavor and was really small. The pelorie balls were good but the tamarind sauce tasted weird. Won't be going back there. I'm not sure how this place stays so busy. All around it's a very below average establishment. Next time I want roti, I'll drive to Naz in Miramar or Joys in Sunrise.

Keith L.

Yelp
Order placed three days ago. Was incomplete long wait. Seems disorganized. Why call in your order 45 minutes ago and it takes less time for folks who walk in to get their order.

Genelle B.

Yelp
I get a veggie roti every time. They have a great lunch special. I love there pumpkin adjacent is a market were you can get Caribbean grocery. I love there fresh baked bread. They have seating to dine in. It's in the Lowes plaza on pines and university.

Devorah L.

Yelp
I decided to check out this place when I was running errands in the area. The food was really good and huge portions but it took so long to order. Because I had never tried Trinidadian food, we didn't know what or how much to order. The prices were very reasonable. I thought I would order a few dishes and if it we were still hungry just order another but it took so long to actually place our order that I didn't want to wait in line again and ended up way over ordering. We sampled the vegetable samosa, chicken roti, chicken curry, and tandoori chicken with noodles. The chicken curry and roti together was a bit of an overkill since it was the same filling in the sandwich. I loved that there was a definite kick to the curry. Next time I would probably just stick with one roti because that was enough food. My boyfriend and I were so full after this. Definitely glad I gave it a try. But for a casual restaurant, it will take a bit of time to order and get your food!

Claudia S.

Yelp
Have been a customer for several years and today's experience was very disappointing. This review is about the very poor customer service displayed today. They made some good changes for COVID to create more space and so I stood under a sign that said " Place Your Order Here" with no one before me and very few people behind me. I was ignored while others were served from behind me. One employee saw fit to scold me for not standing in the right place. Even after this, it took another 10-15 minutes to be served. It was not busy. I realize that you may be having a difficult day, but it was predominately an attitude of ignorance and mean- spiritedness. I will no longer patronize this establishment. Happily they are not the only " game in town" as they say.

Bianca B.

Yelp
Sheiks bakery has THE BEST vegetable roti's I've ever had. I've been on the hunt to find a shop in Orlando that makes them as good as Sheiks. Not only if the food and desserts excellent, the owner is very kind and chatted with me while I was grabbing lunch their alone. Highly recommend this shop and will always make a stop when in town.

Corrine L.

Yelp
Lately, I've been disappointed. What's the point of calling in your order 20 mins in advance to still get there and they ask you what you ordered after you give them your name. Then they prepare it at that momentI love this place, the food is great, but service brings it down for me.
