The 11 Best San Francisco Rooftops For Eating & Drinking - San Francisco - The Infatuation

"This bar on the 12th floor of the Canopy Hotel, right next to the Moscone Center, is staunchly reservations-only, but they often have spots on OpenTable—hopefully you're lucky and get seated on a couch lining the railing. With a chill but slightly buttoned-up party vibe, this spot feels like an expensive penthouse apartment party where everyone is wearing their fanciest SF attire. Get a table during sunset, order the thick Pasion De Mezcal, and nibble on a small bite like a pulpo de olivo for the best possible experience." - lani conway, julia chen 1, ricky rodriguez

"This bar on the 12th floor of the Canopy Hotel is reservations-only. If you manage to get one, try to manifest a seat on the couch that lines the railing. Best Rooftop Bars and Restaurants in San Francisco | Eater SF

"Some locals may remember this space as Everdene — back when the building was under the Virgin Hotels brand — but that was a whole lawsuit ago, and Hilton has since taken over. Despite that shift in ownership, the rooftop remains a solid place for drinks and fresh air; on cold nights, stick near the heaters and order one of the house-aged classics, such as the Negroni or Old Fashioned." - Lauren Saria

Came here for dinner and had such a great experience! The service was amazing super friendly and attentive. The menu was a little limited, but everything we ordered was delicious. The music, ambiance, and drinks were all on point definitely the perfect vibe for a relaxing night out.

I came on a date here & our experience was definitely a night to remember but not in a good way. The view was beautiful- but that was the only good thing. The drinks were not the best & the food was bland - everything looked pretty just wished it tasted as good as it looked. The highlight of the dinner was definitely us asking for the check- we wait sooooo long that we both ended up going to the bathroom almost at the same time (they were discussing) he got stuck waiting in line so I was taking pictures to wait for him - We were trying to make the most of the night so as we were walking back from the bathroom to our table that we should have still had, we were talking about how we should order a shot since the check is taking long & the drinks we tried we didn’t like but we wanted an alcoholic drink BUT that got thrown out IMMEDIATELY once I saw our table - the couple that was next to us MOVED TO OUR TABLE - I was SPEECHLESS, they hadn’t given us our check but they cleaned off the table and moved someone to it? When the whole time we were eating it took forever to get anything cleared. I know they knew we weren’t done because the tables are so close to each other - they were just stuck up people who do not have manners. So after that UNNECESSARY interaction with that couple I was OVER IT- I proceeded to find the server and he was like “I thought you guys were done, I was looking for you guys but couldn’t find you” like I said I was taking pictures &never did I see him pop his head into the bathrooms that are literally open so he didn’t have to go in to see me right there LOLLLLL it is just unbelievable that he assumed we had left when it had been well over 30 minutes since we had asked him for the check. That he still went to go print so how is it that he was looking for us to give us the check? Lollllll The bill was almost 300 - so you can’t say we were being cheap and that’s why we didn’t get good service. So yeah unforgettable night!

Google
Great city views & delicious food. We got the Charcuterie board with fresh farmed honeycomb! So delicious! The tuna tartare was a fan favorite. For our mains, we got the paella and roasted chicken. With city of views and great food I would definitely come here again. Parking is a little challenging. You either have to valet or do street parking.

Google
The service was excellent, the food was good, the cocktails tasty (but too small), and the view nice (but not extraordinary). We sat outside and they had some covers on the furniture beyond our tables, which didn’t look good (especially for such a place), but no one cared about that.

I was staying at Canopy by Hilton for a night and they had put a board for ‘breakfast with a view’. This intrigued me and I chose to have breakfast at Shelby’s. What a cute place. Loved the ambiance and staff were very friendly. I ordered the egg breakfast and it was wholesome and well prepared. I highly recommend this place if you’re in the neighborhood or otherwise.

The first time we went there for early dinner at 4:30 p.m. It was a beautiful day, but very windy. We didn't sit outside against the wall; where we sat, there was a rolling glass wall that protected us from the wind. That was pretty cool. The service was great. We ordered three orders of oysters on the half shell. Each order came with six oysters at $22 each. One wine cost $46. For seven people, our bill was about $429. The saffron pappardelle with added chicken ($8.00) was very good. The pasta portion was huge and it tasted very nice. I didn't eat the oysters, but my kids said they were good, but not $22 for a half dozen good. We didn't take a lot of scenery pictures because it was really windy. I did, however, take pictures of some of the dishes we ordered. I think it would be more beautiful at night with San Francisco in the background. If you've never been here for dinner, I definitely recommend it. One funny thing on my bill I'd never seen before was the 6% SF Health Mandate. I looked this up and believe we were paying 6% of our bill for employee healthcare. Please correct me if I'm wrong; this is the first time I've seen this on any restaurant bill. Oh, I would recommend to do reservations for this place.

We're here in San Francisco for Brian's birthday, arriving fairly late from the coast. We chose the Negroni & Lemondrop, along with the charcuterie plate, all delightful! I told the hostess Kelly, that it was Brian's birthday, which she passed along to our server Max, who provided the cake, a wonderful surprise!

Edit* I came here for the NYE party. Pros: 1)OK view of the city. Nothing spectacular stood out. Just a lot of tall buildings with lights on. 2)Staff were friendly and attentive. 3)They had nice furniture/decor. Cons: 1)This is partly my fault, but they did not serve dinner at the restaurant. I didn’t read the fine print, and assumed because they’re a restaurant they would be serving food with our $250 per person tab. They included 3 small appetizers that were bite size. They were OK. 2) Drinks were not included in the tab. Additional fee. A small complementary 5oz of champagne 🥂 3) Fireworks on NYE were 50% obscured by buildings, and far away. 4) The music selection was horrible, and extremely loud. We asked them for a song request, they said yes, and didn’t play it. 5) They’re hard to locate. They were on top of a hotel called Canopy. No signs anywhere saying “Shelby Rooftop”

Yelp
Visited Shelby's in July 4th night. Views were phenomenal, right in the middle of downtown. It's located inside of a hotel, valet is available and as soon as you walk in through the elevator you're seated and given blankets at your discretion. Cozy vibes, fire place lamps to keep you warm, spectacular city view, very nice and friendly staff members. The food was good as well. I had the paella...it didn't come close to the Paella i had in Madrid ;-) but it did what it could. cute place to experience the city view.

Yelp
Great spot of a few drinks and food after work! they have cocktails, light bites, and bigger plates. It's a nice rooftop with chill vibes and has a great view of San Francisco. To get to the rooftop, enter through the Canopy by Hilton and take the elevator to the roof. I tried the prosciutto and burrata flatbread which was really good for sharing.

Yelp
Have been to Shelby's Lounge twice now. First time was a a wedding reception after party group of 16 people and last night for a birthday party group of 11. Both times were magnificent. The wait staff, bartenders and manager were so accommodating and on it for such large groups of people. Just amazing, we never had to ask for water, silverware, dirty plate removal or drinks needing to be ordered. Travis who runs the bar recommended some signature drinks to our groups both times I was there, explaining in great detail what was in them, different wine pairings with our food. Just fantastic! Look forward to having our next large party with friends and family again at Shelby's. I'm sure Travis and his team are going to make that memorable evening as the last two times. Good job guys! See you soon

Yelp
I'm a huge proponent of rooftop bars. My friend had never gone to one, so before my birthday dinner I suggested we check one out! We chose Shelby's for the views and it was one of the rooftops in the city I had still yet to visit. Located in the Canopy Hilton hotel, you can stroll straight to the elevators from the lobby to the 12th floor to reach the rooftop lounge. Once out of the elevators, check in with the host and admire the view wherever you're seated! We made reservations in advance but on a Monday afternoon, it wasn't needed. Luckily, we were tucked away with a cozy table that had a picturesque view of the skyscrapers downtown. The sun was out too which made was the cherry on top. The waiter who helped us was cordial but did not have much personal interaction. Both myself and my friend loved sipping, noshing, and taking in the views of the city. We enjoyed our libations and shared Chips and Roasted Cauliflower. The chips were needed with the drinks--crunchy, slightly salty, and always an addiction. The cauliflower was well roasted and came with a zingy slightly sweet taste. I would love to see more selection of the food, especially considering the price point--starters, tapas, and large plate items were pretty limited and tasted fine but not wow-worthy. With a handful of rooftop bars in SF, it can be hard to choose one. Shelby's Rooftop is a breath of fresh air as it's lowkey and less crowded than others. For this spot, you come for the view over the food, but the drinks are great. Located off 4th Street, it's easy to access with parking garages nearby.

Yelp
San Francisco's rooftop scene is legendary, and Shelby's Rooftop at the Canopy by Hilton definitely lives up to the hype. Perched on the 12th floor, this lounge offers stunning panoramic views of the city and a vibrant atmosphere that's perfect for a night out. The first thing you'll notice is the ambiance. Shelby's Rooftop strikes a perfect balance between lively and chic. It's definitely buzzing, so make reservations in advance to secure your spot. There's both indoor and outdoor seating, and while they have heaters for the outdoor area, they weren't the most effective on my visit. So, a recommendation - bring a jacket or layer up, especially if you plan on spending most of your time outside. I opted for their house-aged old fashioned, and it was fantastic. The combination of Dickel 8 Bourbon, maple syrup, amaretto, bitters, and smoked oak created a beautifully balanced and flavorful drink. Highly recommend it! For food, I tried the prosciutto and burrata flatbread. The candied walnuts added a touch of sweetness that perfectly complemented the salty prosciutto, and the house-made rosemary and sea salt flatbread was a delicious base. Everything on the plate worked together perfectly. Service at Shelby's Rooftop was attentive without being overbearing. Our server was knowledgeable about the menu and drinks and made sure we had a great experience. Overall, Shelby's Rooftop earns a solid 4 stars. The stunning views, delicious food and drinks, and lively atmosphere make it a great place to spend an evening in San Francisco. Just remember to make a reservation and bring a layer for those outdoor seats!

Yelp
Located in the Canopy Hotel this is a cute SF rooftop. The view was nice but nothing mind blowing compared to other rooftops I've been to. I would still go back for the great service and good food! Most of all was impressed by the ambiance, cool crowd, good vibes, and music was absolutely on point!

Yelp
This was our first visit to Shelby's and a special family outing. We were especially interested in the rooftop view aspect. Shelby's was a hit! We enjoyed the cocktails, the cod was very delicious, the flatbread and cauliflower starters. We loved all the dishes we tried! Service was attentive. The views were lovely and we lucked out with a clear evening. They do offer blankets and can glass wall sections to block the wind. We will definitely be.

Yelp
Drinks were delicious and atmosphere was incredible despite going on a more cloudy evening! Staff were welcoming and had great recommendations when we weren't sure what to order. Was introduced to this place by a friend and I equally loved it! Didn't love the food as much but it definitely gives more of a chill bar vibe rather than a foodie spot. Will definitely be coming back to catch the view it's so well known for!

Yelp
Wasn't thrilled with this place. Was nice getting to see the sunset of SF but honestly the view isn't that incredible. That said, the view was probably the best part of this place. Service, the waiter was a bit too eager. Needs to let people sit on the menu for a few minutes and heard the table next to us say "have't seen the waiter since he kept pushing us to get this drink". The food was also pretty poor. Got a starter, and two mains plus one alcoholic drink with the check ckming out to $140. All just felt a little bit overpriced for subpar quality. The saving grace for the date night is it was right across the road from the movie theater so we hopped on over there rather than grabbing dessert here. Won't be back

Yelp
This place was great! Originally we had a reservation for 630 I was able to message the staff and asked them if they were able to fit us in later on and they were able to accommodate me and my friends at 8:30. The dessert the caramel Brulé specifically here is delicious the absolute best one I've had in my entire life. The drink with mezcal is absolutely super savory. Unfortunately, we didn't get any other food apart from the bruschetta, which was really delicious as well because we did not know if we were going to be able to make it in time for the food menu so we ate before. However, the view from here is really nice. The ambience is super mellow And classy, which is nice a little different from other bars and San Francisco. I would recommend this to anyone who wants a cool night out and is going for chill vibes.

Yelp
Stayed at the Canopy for a work event and had one of my favorite hotel breakfasts at Shelby's Rooftop!! I think they only open for breakfast to guests staying at the hotel? They have a small breakfast menu but the Harissa Scrambled Eggs were UNBELIEVABLY GOOD!!! So much flavor in the eggs and the toast was perfectly crunchy. Had a latte with that as well and of course the gorgeous view makes the food taste even better! Loved starting the day looking at the beautiful foggy cityscape. (Btw the eggs were SO GOOD I was coming down the elevator with a random man who also was coming down from the restaurant and we literally talked about the eggs the whole way down LOL) I dropped by at night but didn't stop for a drink/food as it was incredibly busy since I believe the rooftop is open to the public for dinner.

Yelp
Honestly, what's not to love. It is dim lit, modern, trendy, classy... stellar views. The wine list is decent. They have great bites. For me the ambience does it here.

Dessy D.

Yelp
I went solo after seeing a TikTok video of the restaurant. My visit here was money well spent. Ambiance, food and service was 100%. The servers, starting from the lady receptionist downstairs to the receptionist that got me seat were very attentive and courteous and professional. The warm blanket they offered warmed my heart and then kept me warm my entire stay.I thought it a Wonderful and thoughtful strategy because I was so comfortable that I stayed and ordered another dish just because I wanted to try it. You could taste the freshness of the seafood and the beauty and thoughtful addition of color in the Paella dish. My only critic was they let my glass run dry. I was in the mood to have a good time but no one asked to pour me another or get me something else no one asked if I wanted dessert.
google avatar

Ashley C.

Yelp
Ambiance is 4 stars alone. The views are amazing. To me the food was average, it didn't leave a lasting impression. However the cocktails did not disappoint. Even if you would just go to watch the sunset and take in the views it's worth a visit. Service was good but I sat at the bar so it was pretty busy but they stayed on top of it. Wothh a try if you haven't made it to Shelby's.

Yelp
I've visited Shelby's multiple times for drinks with friends, but had never tried their food. My friend and I ordered the Paella Valenciana and the Cheese and Charcuterie this visit. The paella was good, but not great. It was honestly underwhelming. We didn't particularly like the Cheese and Charcuterie either. On the other hand, their drinks were great as always! If you're planning to visit, I'd personally grab dinner somewhere else and stop for some drinks here afterwards. The service was great, our server was super attentive and helpful. The ambiance was incredible and the views are always amazing at night.

Yelp
Very cute rooftop lounge in SF! Last weekend, I had dinner and drinks at Shelby's for my friend's birthday. *WARNING - food and drinks are a bit pricey here, but you should know that already when you choose a rooftop lounge. Loved the ambiance and the dim lighting. Everything felt very clean/modern. Really appreciated the heaters because I thought we were going to be freezing. They also had a DJ playing (started at 9pm). Highlights worth mentioning: 1. Charcuterie board - Loved the variety - Honeycomb was an awesome addition! - Wish they provided crackers as well, but the bread was great :) 2. Seafood Paella - They definitely didn't skimp on the seafood - Everything was very flavorful, but it was a bit too salty for my liking - My friends and I added a ton of lemon, and it helped cut out the saltiness! 3. Proscuitto & Burrata Flatbread - This was probably my favorite dish. - Really loved the freshness from the argula and creaminess of the burrata - Hot honey YESSS YESS & YESS 4. Espresso Martini - First drink of the night to keep us awake :) - A little bit more on the sweeter side. Overall, great vibes at Shelbys. Make a reservation! Could see this spot as a cute date night spot or a girls night out gathering.

Yelp
Everything was delicious! I stayed at the Canopy for a week and, because of my work schedule, I ended up eating in the hotel almost every night. I expected to be disappointed but I was only disappointed that I didn't stay longer so I could taste everything in the menu! My favorite was the crème brûlée. It was wonderful. I ordered one for a colleague as a thank you and she raved over it as well. It was also beautifully packed on the take away container. My least favorite meal was my breakfast. It was a standard breakfast: eggs meat, potatoes. Fortunately, that was my last meal of the week. So I wasn't discouraged from trying other menu items. Complaints: it is way too dark in the evening. They don't have many real tables at normal height and I opted to take food to my room rather than eat hunched over a lounge table. If the weather isn't agreeable, the rooftop seating is kind of useless as much of it is uncovered.
google avatar

Nick M.

Yelp
Amazing atmosphere with incredible views! I enjoyed every drink I got. The cocktails I tried had well balanced flavors and didn't taste weak at all. I will say I felt like we needed more food. The plates get you buy but you'd really need to keep ordering all night to stay satiated. That's not necessarily a bad thing though just something to be aware of. Great spot!
google avatar

Gazelle G.

Yelp
Food are really good and price are good with the view thats a good price than other rooftop place around the area. Service awesome! It's my friend birthday and we got a creme brûlée with candle. When we ask someone to take us pictures they were really nice and took good pictures! We love it. Will be back here again because when we went here no bone marrow so we want to try that. We ordered 1. SEAFOOD PAELLA VALENCIANA*$35.00 Cured chorizo, fumet, calamari, shrimp, mussel, bomba rice, brussels sprout, calabrian chili, lemon, stock of lobster & clam----I don't like paella but we saw the next table ordered it and it looks good so i said ok let's try and it didn't disappoint 10/10 2. CHEESE & CHARCUTERIE*$25.00 Chef's selection of local cheeses and cured meats, fruits, cherry mostarda, wheat Bâtard, confit olives, honeycomb (GF)---love it too, the honey , the bread, the cheese, pepperoni everything on it and mind you it's only $25 and thats with a good view. 10/10 3. Creme brûlée- love love love its a good serving and tasted yummy, thank you for the treat. 10/10 Highly recommended this place, we got here maybe 4:30 then stayed for an hr or something and the outside city lights are so nice.

Yelp
My friend group and I were surveyed here after going in a scavenger hunt at the Marriott ti check out the view. Being a sf native I've never taken in a rooftop bar in the city until now, not have I been missing out. I was absolutely enamored with all that was within eyesight. I found the lounge's menu to be great in terms of drink items. I went with the once in a blue moon which was perfect I. Both aesthetics and taste. The food items I felt like more smaller plate options could have been offered which when my other two friends met up and we talked about grabbing food we all decided to try somewhere else. I think I'm catching a warm day this rooftop lounge will be amazing, the service was great and we were well attended. Definitely will come back!

Yelp
Very nice place. Great service and great food. View is spectacular. Staff very friendly. The atmosphere is very comfortable really nice bar.

Yelp
Shelby's is a beautiful rooftop with views of SOMA. They accept reservations and we have had great service the times we've gone there. The bone marrow is delish! Fortunately but unfortunately, they change their menu pretty frequently. The first time I went I had a lovely craft cocktail, the Folsom Sour. The next time I went they didn't have it and the drinks we got instead just didn't compare.
google avatar

Tiffany S.

Yelp
Rooftop dining has been my favorite pastime as of late and Shelby's checks many of the boxes. The decor is trendy with many different seating options for different sized parties. The view of the sales force tower is lovely. The bathroom is a little confusing as many people did try to walk in while I was in the restroom. Service is a bit on the slower end as it is a popular spot (we went during a conference at Moscone), but very kind. The staff is willing to help get blankets for you when the night gets chilly, which was a major plus for us! The drinks were fun but not particularly spirit forward (which is my preferred cup of tea). However, they were balanced, easy to drink and had some fun combinations. The food wasn't particularly large nor small, more of a standard size. I was also pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food as many rooftop bars skate by on their views. The caprese salad was a favorite as it was particularly refreshing, but you can never go wrong with a paella either! This is also located near the Yerba Buena stop which makes it a easy place to public transit to, huge plus considering how tough parking is down there.

Yelp
One of the best places in town for getting some food and drinks. Gulda was really helpful. Highly recommend!

Yelp
What a hidden gem! This rooftop restaurant is located on the 12th floor of The Canopy Hotel. Once the elevator opens up, you will be greeted with a nice artwork that sets what to expect right in the corner! As you walk in the room, your eyes will feast on the stunning panoramic view of SF! The restaurant offers both indoor and outdoor dinning and they have outdoor heaters. The food and drinks were not only pretty but they were delicious!!! The friendly host, waiter and staff were very attentive! Our whole experience was top notch!

Yelp
Recently one of my friends came to visit me and we both wanted to catch-up and try some (new to us) bars. Saw some great reviews on several rooftop bars, and although they were difficult to book last minute, I was able to score a reservation on this one. Shelby's is located on top of the Canopy by Hilton, a cute boutique hotel near Yerba Buena Gardens with some seriously good views and vibes! The night we were there, there's a DJ spinning, wait staff was friendly and on top of things. We sat outside, slightly chilly, but not too bad. Gorgeous views of SalesForce tower and downtown skyscrapers. The charcuterie and cheese plate ($25) we got was so delicious and so pretty with the edible flowers. Went perfectly with our Grey Goose Martini ($?) and the Castro to Mission cocktail ($19). We took lots of photos and just enjoyed ourselves. Great get together place with friends, family, and dates. My friend, who is a big fan of SITC said that this place reminded her of the places she saw on the show. Price is on the higher end due to location and ambiance.

Yelp
First time here but have this saved in my bookmarks. Rooftops have been popping up in SF lately and I'm here for it. I'm on a mission to see all the rooftop bars. It was not crowded for a beautiful Friday night in the City. Our party of 4 were seated right away in a corner table. We only came for drinks post dinner. I ordered the from Castro to mission and it was garnished with gummy bears The views are nice, feel lucky we had such a nice night.

Cinthya S.

Yelp
Pretty mid tbh I was expecting better food options it was sad that we had to go with the burger option that wasn't even on the menu. Service was great but the food waiters did take a long time just to get us the check
google avatar

Colleen L.

Yelp
This used to be a previous rooftop bar operated by Virgin Hotels, it's now call Shelby's. It's practically the same set up except it's a bit smaller since the back area is closed. This is a very nice rooftop bar with comfortable seats, stylish decor, good drinks and food. They offer both indoor and outdoor seating but they do open up the pocket sliding doors towards the evening on really nice days. Of course, you can't go to a rooftop without the stunning views, at Shelby's you'll get unobstructed panoramic views of the city. Service was decent here, it wasn't busy when we came but it also seemed like they were a bit understaffed. If you're going to stop by Shelby's be prepare to spend $20 for a drink, probably not entirely worth it IMO but hey, SF prices and the view makes up for it too.

Yelp
We had an outside private area for a party. The staff was nice, the food was great, and man the place was AMAZING! Perfect views of the city. The decor was fresh and modern with nice tables and chairs, and enough heaters to keep the area warm. The staff brought blankets out for the people that were cold. I want to check out the inside area for drinks some time as well. You have to try this place! It was great for after work drinks with friends or a nice romantic date.
google avatar

Ramon C.

Yelp
On the 12th floor of the Hilton. The view is great and the drinks are strong and good. We didn't try the food this time, but if we are in the area again we will come back and try out some of the food.
google avatar

Brittany V.

Yelp
Great spot for bites and drinks, the service is pretty good and the ambiance is lovely. It's great during happy hour for a view or at night with the heaters on outside. The Rick Ruben has been a favorite every time we have gone. The Shortrib for dinner is amazing just forgot to take a picture! The Tuna Tartare is also worth ordering. If you're someone that gets cold, you can ask for blankets!
google avatar

Carnie C.

Yelp
Came here for a girls night dinner and we made sure to make a res ahead of time. The vibes of this place was amazing! There's a great view and the service was pretty good. The food was also pretty good! I would skip on the whole roasted chicken and the paella next time because the chicken was kinda try and the paella flavor was lacking. Other than that the drinks, food, and ambiance made this a perfect night for me and my friends!

Yelp
3 & 1/2 *** rounded up 4 **** Like most rooftop restaurants, the food is not that great. The views and the ambiance are what one comes here for. The food was OK, it looked better than a tasted. On a side note the service was great! Our waitress and the rest of the staff were awesome. We came in a big group, reserved a table and sat outside. The weather was cooperating, not too cold or hot. The Views of the city were nice. Grub: ~ PULPO AL OLIVO - 4/5 Octopus was very good, especially with the moose / sauce that accompanied it. ~ CHEESE & CHARCUTERIE - 4/5 Charcuterie board was very good. A healthy variety of meats and cheeses. ~ KOJI FRIED CHICKEN - 3/5 The wings were okay, I feel like the competition for that is very high in the area or especially the Bay area in general. Nothing stood out about them. ~ PAELLA VALENCIANA - 3/5 we The paella was just OK, I thought it was rather bland and felt it needed flavor. It did have a decent amount of seafood in it. adulting: ~ OLD FASHIONED - 4/5 A good solid and strong Old Fashioned. I'd definitely return, probably not for dinner...

Yelp
Came here on a weekday late afternoon two times, and both times, the place was empty. I like the views from this lounge--especially at sunset. I recommend coming a little before sunset so that you can see day time, sunset, and night time views of the city. The best spot for views would probably be the corner seat outside since you can see both sides. Appetizers and drinks here are pretty standard. I haven't tried the food yet, but I'll be back!!

Yelp
Was interested in seafood for dinner and tried this place based on the ratings. Nice and upscale with good views. Very overpriced and small portions of food. Service was good but people were not knowledgeable and seemed inexperienced. Wine by the glass only so not a very big selection.

Yelp
Not a bad spot to grab drinks with a view! It's a rooftop bar so all good and drink we're on the pricier side. I don't ~love~ to pay $18 for a drink anywhere. The cheese and charcuterie plate had a nice mixture of cheeses and accoutrements. Drinks were solid. Probably wouldn't get the artichoke dip again. Expect higher prices as it is in a hotel. Good light bites and drinks with a view.

Yelp
This is a cute rooftop bar in SOMA that is great, but pretty much like every other rooftop bar I have been to in the city. There is a nice view from the rooftop and the decor is classy and nice for a date night or to grab drinks with a group of friends. They also have a great staff that is attentive and efficient which made for a great experience. The drinks were pretty good and we ordered a couple of appetizers that were delicious. The heirloom and artichoke dip with pita was so GREAT we were considering ordering more.

Yelp
At times, we find that nice rooftop views = not the best food. But I must say, San Francisco high-rise spots have ~elevated~ their food quality as well. Shelby's Lounge boasted great views of the city, walking distance from Union Square. Now on to the food! My favorite was their bone marrow! They took out the bone marrow, mixed in some stuff to it and put the mixture back on the bone. So yummy! My second favorite was the grilled octopus! The pork and the paella were also good. Service that day was efficient. Prices were SF/city prices lol Definitely would go back here for a cute hangout.

Yelp
Was looking for a rooftop restaurant in my old neighborhood. This place was absolutely a nice finding. The city skyline covered a little bit of everything - high risers in Financial district, industrial SOMA and mission bay. Well deserved 5 stars for the beautifully plated delicious food, cool plate and interior and great services. Enjoyed everything we ordered. The monkfish is great. The olive paste in the Octopus is really yummy. Of course the halibut crudo is so beautiful and fresh.

Yelp
I am a wh*re for rooftops and this place did not disappoint. Sometimes u go to the rooftops and the food is mid but the view is stunning. This was not the case at all. I loved my cocktail, I loved the service, I loved the dishes. And of course the view was just PERFECT. Could stay here forever

Yelp
This place made me&my bf's trip so romantic and fabulous. We went there without knowing that they changed the whole menu but the food was very good. Everything we ordered went really well with the drinks we got. If they had french fries in the menu, that would be really great but I still want to give them more than five stars:) We sit outside but never felt chilly at all. They also give you a blanket so that you can make you warm enough. The view was absolutely amazing and I still remember every moment when we went to this place. Our waitress never failed to check in :) It was one of the romantic nights with my loved one :) Definitely highly recommend this place! Check out this place when you get a chance!!

Yelp
We came at Shelby's not too long ago, and I really want to mention that the hostesses are very disorganized in terms of seating the customers. We came here and checked at the front desk, one of the hostess did not seat us right away, so we were wondering around the rooftop and sat at the empty table just to rest. As we took our time, a server came and asked what we would like to order. So we explained that we haven't seated yet and we went to the front desk to check on our seat. We were glad that we were seated immediately. Once we sat down, we were waiting for 15 minute and not a single server came to serve us. We have to keep trying to get the server attention. Very disorganized, the hostesses look confused and seem like sometimes lost. Food wise, I don't recommend Koji Fried Chicken. The presentation of this food was great but the chicken was very dry, we could only taste the sauce and couldn't enjoy the dry chicken. Seems like the most recent menu doesn't have this item anymore, so I'm glad that they took it away. The Local Halibut Crudo was very well presented but the taste wasn't excellent. The drinks were quite good and the atmosphere is excellent. But the food and service are below the par.

Yelp
My friends and I checked this out on a Sunday, I made reservations on OpenTable didn't know what to expect but wanted a place with a nice view and had outdoor seating. It was supposed to be warm in SF so this was a good option. We were pleasantly surprised with Shelby's Rooftop. Very classy yet cozy vibe with killer views of SF. They had a limited menu, we had sliders, fish and chips, pita and hummus... they were ok not exceptional but we enjoyed the appetizers. They had an extensive drink selection. We enjoyed our time at Shelby's we agreed the views would even be better at night with the beautiful city lights! Definitely a place that's good for a night out with a group of friends or a romantic date! A promising new hangout in the city!

Yelp
Omg this place is absolutely stunning! The view of the city is insane! We came across this place after celebrating my friends birthday in the city! We had just had dinner and I came across the gem while looking for a place to just have a drink! When I tell you I scored, let me tell you I scored! This place has a hotel downstairs called the Canopy! Beautiful hotel! I took a tour while downstairs and if I were to stay in the city, I would definitely stay here. When we made it upstairs we were in awe of how beautiful the view was! It had glass all around the corridor for spectacular views! We sat right by the glass and had our drinks! Service was prompt and drinks were delicious! Since we already had dinner, we did not get to try their tea but I did look at the menu and I will be returning for the delicious menu

Yelp
Food was okay, service was good but we were asked about orders that wasn't ours I would say price is more on the view, and less on the food, desserts definitely need improvement

Yelp
A Sky-High Experience at Shelby's Rooftop Lounge. From the moment I stepped onto Shelby's Rooftop Lounge, I was greeted by a breathtaking panorama that effortlessly captured the essence of the city. The Moscone Center, with its grandeur, stood out as a jewel amidst the vibrant downtown cityscape. As the sun dipped below the horizon, the city lights began to twinkle, creating a mesmerizing urban tapestry that was a delight to behold. Amidst this visual feast, the service at Shelby's was nothing short of exceptional. The staff were attentive and personable, ensuring that my experience was as comfortable as it was memorable. A special shoutout to Stephanie, the bartender, whose mixology skills were only matched by her warm and engaging demeanor. Her dinner recommendations were spot-on, and each cocktail was a masterpiece that complemented the stunning views. Whether you're a local or just passing through, Shelby's Rooftop Lounge is a must-visit destination for anyone looking to elevate their evening with spectacular views, DJ and exemplary service. It's not just a lounge; it's an experience that soars above the rest.

Yelp
Went on a RAINY Sunday night so it wasn't as packed for 6pm. The menu isn't as big as a restaurants menu would've been but it is more than enough for a bar and can definitely satisfy your hunger still. The options they do have are amazing. My table opted for the pulpo, short rib, and paella valenciana. Everything was absolutely delicious and well flavored. The short rib was extremely tender and the paella was flavored to perfection. They do lack in dessert options but overall a good meal Can't speak for the drinks but my friends ordered two cocktails that they enjoyed very very much! The staff was incredibly nice and attentive!
