"Speaking of Shepard (1 Shepard St., Cambridge), there’s a newish chef there as well: Scott Jones, an alum of No. 9 Park and Menton, joined the team in early January. Per a statement emailed by Shepard owner René Becker, Jones and Becker are focusing on “simple, French-inspired dishes, such as cassoulet and choucroute garnie, prepared with technique one would expect from the chef of Menton.”" - Rachel Leah Blumenthal

Great neighborhood restaurant. Food was delicious: from the fresh ingredients, to the ingredient choices and the preparations - everything was superb. There was a variety of smaller plate options, so we got a bunch of things to try and share and did not regret it. Here's the summary: the chicken liver mousse crostini were splendid, and so were the cavatelli with sugar snap peas and honey mushrooms. The fresh dug potatoes with lovage, nasturtium and cultured butter were addictive. The lovage added an extra layer of depth that was a pleasant surprise. The smoked beef tongue with roasted celeriac and pickled beets was tender and literally melted in our mouths. The roasted nectarine with creamed corn and basil was light and fun. Moving onto the main courses - the Featherbrook chicken was outstanding. The very generous portion of a whole leg and a breast was extremely flavorful and juicy and not a hint of dryness. On the side there was a fennel, white carrots and salted onions salad, which added some welcomed acidity, sweetness and brightness to the dish. The pork chop with arugula salad and spicy beans was delicious - pork was super tender, juicy and cooked perfectly. The salad was bright and balanced. The desserts were great too: the cantaloupe ice cream, the campfire sunday and the poached peach with basil ice cream were a worthy finish of a wonderful meal. Definitely looking forward to returning to Shepard

Delicious!! Great service, light and local food. Great cocktails too. My favorite dish was the chicken (which I didn't take a photo of). The mussles were yummy too.

We had a very good time. The food was fresh and tasty. The fried chicken and pork chop were off the hook. Definitely a neighborhood favorite.

Exquisite food. One of the best in the Boston area. If I were to pick a bone - portions are tiny, and the desserts are a bit too sweet. But all in all, it is a must-visit!

Its a little pricey / fancier than the bars in the area. Very friendly bartender. In fact two of my friends are good friends with them. The food is ok... My cauliflower hashbrown was really salty that you can taste the salt patch, and I'm not sure if it's intended to be that way. I also tasted egg shell in my eggs...

We went and shared a bunch of small plates. Everything was very good. Our favorites were the potatoes (they had an Indian spice on them), mussels and french fries (they were super crispy). Got a little adventurous and tried the beef tongue, it was smoked, and it was very good, just strange to be eating tongue. Cocktails and desserts were great as well and the wait staff was very friendly

The food was different, not too extreme, but definitely some things I'd never seen on a menu anywhere else. Everything was delicious and portion sizes were perfect. The gin cocktail was excellent. I would bring people from out of town here to show them there are great restaurants in Cambridge outside of Harvard Square.

The service and atmosphere are top notch, with an attentive staff and concerned management. Our cocktails were excellent and the course selections were fresh and divine. Highly recommend the half chicken (if it's in season) and the grilled asparagus. Both were world beaters. As was the roasted rabbit.
