I was here in Feb 2024 for a conference event. The hotel was going through a lobby renovation and once done will definitely be classy and modern. The rooms were perfect and updated. The location is undeniable. Right by the Capital. Walking distance to a few fun places near and relatively safe. Lots of scooters to rent and get a bit further if so desired. I was pleased with the location and area. Definitely if by the capital again would stay here. Parking is available in he ramp at the location but not free. Self park or valet only. Good over experience.

Unfortunately the hotel looks so much better in pictures. The front desk was very friendly at check-in but once I got to the room I got a bit disappointed. Found a couple of areas of improvement. When you see that your bed frame/bedside stands and the floors have hairs and the mirrors still have some hand prints and smudges it’s clear that there is a lack of attention to detail. Even after requesting service the details were not cleaned. Even more of a disappointment. Also I am not entirely sure if the “renovations” made the room feel newer but I guess the whole cleaning aspect had a big impact on the first impression. Over all my stay was okay the hotel is in a very good location so it was easy to walk anywhere.

I would not recommend this hotel. My husband and I were excited to stay here for a little staycation. I was shocked at the condition of the hotel and room. The pictures they show on their website doesn’t reflect what the hotel really looks like. The room and hotel is very outdated. I thought I’d stepped back in time and suddenly was in the 80’s. The price was great until I was charged $600 for two days! They don’t have free parking..you have to pay over $40 a day to park in their parking garage. Their restaurant charges over $20 for an omelette (with Italian sausage YUCK) and two slices of toast. They also don’t have microwaves in the rooms…or at least in our room. The refrigerators in the room are extremely tiny. The beds were hard as rocks. If I could have gotten my money back I would have rather stayed at another hotel, but I couldn’t get a refund. The Sheraton may have been great a long time ago, but unfortunately nowadays it’s rundown and not worth the money. I strongly recommend spending your money at another hotel. It’s just not worth the amount they charge for a stay.

I showed up around 1130PM and was helped by Sonja at the front desk. I got settled in, unpacked and noticed a couple things missing from the room that I needed so I called the front desk. Sonja was very helpful and brought the hair dryer and hand soap immediately. I know it can be difficult to step away during night shifts so I really appreciated that. Hotel was very quick in responding to chats, valet was extremely helpful during check out but the parking charge is silly and I was charged even on days that I didn't park in the garage. Guest services was helpful in the refund so it is what it is. There's a lot of wasted space in the room that could be used for more functional storage options but that's what everyone is unfortunately leaning into these days; aesthetic over function. I wasn't impacted by the construction noise and I had a great rate so I'll definitely book at this hotel again. A big note is to update the tvs. Luckily, I had my fire stick with me to put in the HDMI but for the regular rates this hotel charges, they should at least have the option to steam on their tvs...

This property is currently undergoing renovations. This is great! However, they should be embarrassed to remain open during this time. The first red flag was having to use the service elevators which took an obscenely long time while inhaling the fumes of paint and chemicals. Room was clean but not clean. Vents were full of dust and dander. But the lack of, like none at all, hot water took the cake. As a "I'm sorry" we were offered a free breakfast voucher. No, thank you, I'd rather have hot water in 30° temperatures. I've stayed at this property many times over the years, both personal and business travel, I'll unlikely return even after renovations are done.

DO NOT STAY HERE! I recently stayed at Sheraton Austin Hotel at Capitol, and I must express my deep disappointment with the quality of service and overall conditions. The lack of included parking and the exorbitant fee for valet parking were disheartening (50$ overnight). On the day of our departure, the valet attendant had an unpleasant odor that clung to our car, making our return journey extremely uncomfortable. It was an unfortunate end to our stay. Additionally, the hotel's ongoing construction caused inconveniences and made certain areas inaccessible, such as the pool which they didn’t told us in advance. Moreover, the non-functioning air conditioner in our room made it impossible to sleep comfortably, especially in the hot weather. Furthermore, the hotel charged an additional fee of $20 per person for breakfast, which, combined with other issues, further contributed to our dissatisfaction. The rooms themselves were in dire need of renovation, with low shower water pressure and a malfunctioning mini fridge that failed to keep things cold, despite the summer heat. Overall, this was the worst hotel stay I have ever experienced. I urge the management to address these concerns promptly. In light of the numerous shortcomings during my stay, I kindly request a full refund of the charges incurred. Thank you for your attention, and I hope appropriate measures will be taken to rectify these significant issues.

I recently stayed the the Sheraton Austin Hotel at the Capitol, and I'm so incredibly disappointed. There is so much noise from the ongoing construction. I couldn't stand to be in my room because of the noise during the day. Also, the newly renovated rooms have such a strong chemical smell to them. There was no pool due to construction. Also super disappointed and frustrated with the lack of transportation options to the airport. The good side was the bar/restaurant! They staff was amazing and the food was great. Overall, I wouldn't recommend this hotel to others.

Google
I recently stayed at this hotel and wanted to share my experience. The location of the hotel is great, offering convenient access to the city. However, I was disappointed to discover that the hotel was undergoing renovations during my stay in July 2023, which was never mentioned during the booking process. Upon checking in, the staff informed me about the ongoing renovation and the unavailability of the pool. Since I had already arrived in the city and specifically chosen this hotel, it was not feasible for me to search for alternative accommodations last minute. The construction noise was quite loud and persisted from 9am to 5pm, impacting the overall tranquility of my stay. Regarding the room itself, it was decent for the price, but rather basic and lacked any fancy amenities. Unfortunately, the bed wasn't very comfortable either. Despite the hotel's good location, the lack of transparency about the renovations and the inconveniences caused by the construction noise affected my overall satisfaction with the stay.

Yelp
This was my first time staying at this Sheraton in Austin. It is a beautiful area, it is right by the capital, and there is a lot of stuff to do within walking distance if you want to hang out downtown. I came here for a product management conference. The price was higher than I would have paid for it if my employer wasn't paying. The hotel was under construction, so I did not take full advantage of the amenities I would have otherwise. When I first got there, I was excited because I had seen online that they had self parking. In my head, that meant that the parking was going to be free. I was mistaken by making that assumption because self parking is $42 a day, it is in a parking garage. While valet was $52 a day, so keep that in mind. it was super convenient though when I needed my car, they got it to promptly and the last day of the conference, I checked out before the conference was over and I was able to put my bags in my car so that once the conference was over, I was able to get right on the road. My room was beautiful, it was super big. I was on the 11th floor and had a great view. The conference was in the same hotel that I was in, so it was super easy, to go to my room when I wanted to break during the conferencea nd it was easy to get to the conference in the morning because the rooms are right by the elevator. Would I stay here again? Yes, if I wanted to stay by the capital. I would love to come back and see it after their construction is done.

Yelp
The people at the front desk are incredibly nice. That is the extent of the positive things I have to say about this newly remodeled hotel. The designer who did the remodel needs to refund all the cash they got and write an apology letter to every guest who paid money to stay here. The rooms look like the 1970's threw up on it with brown subway tile against a terracotta floor and the most uncomfortable carpet to stand on with bare feet- the entire floor feels 'lumpy'. But these are just aesthetics that people can disagree on. The real issue is that the design greatly violates nearly every time and motion study done by hospitality experts. They removed the ironing board and iron in place of a cute, pink steamer (remember, brown and terracotta color scheme and now we are throwing Japanese ultra-kawai'i appliances into the mix. So, no crease in the pants without calling to one delivered. The lighting in the room is horrible, functionally it's all below the eye level lighting with even the one lamp that is higher for task lighting and work is at eye level and not an uplamp, which would have actually been design appropriate for the 1970's. The desk is functionless for work because of the film on it, but the bed side lamps are functionally brighter than the sun. This is also the first hotel room I've been in with no alarm/clock that is visible, which is super weird. The window shades are also the exact same pattern as the walls, so when you close the blinds the room feels like a solitary confinement cell. If you have claustrophobia, you cannot stay here. The hotel franchise operator should sue the design company for malpractice, but Marriott needs to step in on the room experience and brand expectations immediately. Edit: I'm updating this review and lowering their star to a single star in advising no one should ever stay here, unless it's a free room and their homeless and desperate. This entire hotel experience has been like OmegaMart in Las Vegas - that's a grocery store where everything you expect to be there is wrong by some degree, but this isn't a project by the meow Wolf collective but a real hotel earnestly trying to provide real hotel services to real customers. I had some laundry that I dropped off at 7 AM this morning for same-day service with a 6 PM delivery date. I get back to my room at 11 o'clock and noticed that nothing has been delivered. I called down to the front desk and asked if my laundry had been done and if it was deliverable, They asked me to come down and pick it up at 11:20 at night after I gotten in bed while charging me for same-day service that implies a delivery back to the room. It's easy to overlook any single one of these as a misguided attempt, or an oversight, but after like 40 of these experiences where the normal hotel experience was contravened by no iron, but a steamer; no trashcan in the bathroom, and many other cues that basically make the room non-functional for anybody who is human and wants to live in it they continue to downgrade the experience with an amazing speed. I now no longer think the Marriott corporation should revoke this franchise right to operate a hotel but I think they should go beyond that and burn it to the ground and replace it with something that actually isn't an insult to humans.

Yelp
This place honestly felt like a motel 6 or super 8 in disguise. I can't think of a single positive so here are all the negatives -- Location: The surrounding area is filthy, filled with homeless and junkies. -- Hotel: Hotel is undergoing construction, so doesn't have much going for it. No lounge like the other Sheratons and they didn't even offer a free breakfast in liu. -- Room: see attached picture. This looks like a motel 6 with the carpet and tacky layout. My bedsheets were crumpled, so not sure if it was even washed. -- Safety hazard: the soap and shampoo bottles are placed on a slippery, sloped hole in the wall. The soap bottle fell twice down, once on my foot. That stuff is heavy and hurt. Not a very good idea, whoever designed this. Overall a pretty horrible experience and this is coming from a Sheraton fanboy. And did I mention, 42 bucks to park in this dump

Yelp
I'm super bummed with this hotel. We live in Southern California and booked this hotel for our first visit to Austin, Tx. The pictures online are very deceiving. We check in and the first thing they tell us is that they're doing renovations, which was very apparent as their is no lobby it's just a make-shift lobby. They tell us they came accommodate our reservation which was the double beds, there will be construction noise during waking hours, and the pool is closed. Seriously! We are here for 4 nights in triple digit heat with no pool. Part of the reason we booked this hotel knowing it has a pool. They tell us we can use the Hilton pool, however they don't have a shuttle so we have to pay out of our own pocket to Uber there and back to use it. Major bummer. The only reason for two stars is the staff is welcoming and friendly. They apologized for all the inconveniences and say hello and goodbye every time you're in and out of the hotel. They offer ice cold water as well. The bar is cute and had two large tvs which was nice to watch the preseason football game on Sunday. The rooms need some serious renovations, as they're obviously being done now but still wow. Still have the popcorn ceilings, rooms smell musty and wet, and the showers are falling apart. They have a full length mirror however you need to be up against the wall to even seen yourself and it's in the most narrow part of the hotel room. The bed mattresses are old and squeaky and the bedding is just average. Being a Sheraton, I expected a lot more. I was disappointed.

Yelp
This was one of the most Sheraton Sheratons I've ever stayed at. One look at it took me back to the days before Bonvoy, when SPG was still its own program. The building is on the older side, and is undergoing renovations as of August 2023. Rooms felt old, with furniture and carpeting that took me right back to the early 00s. Still, everything worked fine, no complaints really. Good AC, water pressure was fine, Wi-Fi worked without issue, and the bed was average. Sheraton has mastered living in that forgettable zone -- not too bad, but nothing spectacular either. Price was a little lower than similar hotels, perhaps because it's a few blocks further away from downtown? But not a bad option if you're trying to save a little while staying in Austin.

Yelp
I can say this with complete honesty...I have never left a negative hotel review in my life. I travel a lot for work and probably stay in hotels 100-120 nights year, and typically chalk things up to bad luck or a tough day for either the hotel staff and/or myself. That's being said, this hotel has the most dishonest and deceitful management staff I've ever come across. If I could then zero stars I would. I don't have the inclination to go into detail or call out specific management staff...all I can say is don't stay at this hotel under any circumstances. I chose it based on its proximity to a work event and ignored the reviews...it was my mistake and it won't happen again. I don't understand how a property with so many negative reviews can still be associated with the BonVoy name?!?!

Yelp
I booked this hotel through AMEX for 2 nights King bed, then last minute I added another night for the same king bed room. After I arrived, the front desk lady told me they were sold out for the king bed for the night so Joy switched me to the double, which I understand the situation, and she said they were going to switch me to the king bed for next 2 nights. I went to the room, the phone was broken, the lights were blinking and the water tasted salty due to the renovation. Next day I talked to front desk staff lady and the supervisor Kenny and they told me the room is still sold out and no way they can switch me to another room. Due to the renovations, no water from 10 to 3 and construction noise all day. This is the worst experience I've ever had through AMEX hotel booking.

Yelp
Dont do many One Stars. Wow, Texas football team was staying here last night? This place is soooo dirty. My wife and I were laughing in the parking garage elevator that smelled like a sewer....how do you get from the parking garage to the hotel..hmmm we couldn't figure it out without walking on the car park. Jerk Bartender in the bar at "The Yard", yeah, didnt get my gin and tonic. One guy running the bar literally ignored me??? The dude in the room next door that stayed up till 1:00 running the TV and then snoring until 6:00 AM was awful. Walls are paper thin. Never, ever stay here. Also, the comp ticket they give you for parking wont work. Nice $42 slap on the butt as you stumble out of this place.

Yelp
An eclectic vibe, reminding me of the 80s. The 12th floor has quite the view. Didn't expect not having an iron, but I made do with the hand-held steamer. Entrance onto the property when driving isn't easily navigable, as they switched the entrance and exit. The bed was nice and plush- very comfortable. Opted to dine in on the 2nd floor; had the mahi mahi tacos as it was Taco Tuesday. Great lil bar and relaxing area to dine. Aside from the downtown traffic/congestion- this was a great stay.

Yelp
Got to the hotel and was greeted by the staff right away. Everyone was so kind. The staff is so attentive. They really went above and beyond. The staff was the best part of the hotel. Got the the room and someone was fixing the door. The room itself wasn't bad. The bed is super uncomfortable. There was some cracks in the wall in the shower. The water wasn't draining but they brought someone up right away to fix it. The location of the hotel was convenient for me. I honestly liked the hotel the staff really made my stay worth it.

Yelp
Stayed here a couple of nights while visiting Austin. The rooms were as nice as the Westin hotel rooms. I noticed the high end decor, double comforters on the beds. The lobby has a snack bar of food to go. They have a full service restaurant and bar on the lower level. Good customer service at checking with a 12 pm checkout. I would definitely recommend it.

Yelp
This hotel is extremely old and tired, desperately in need of a major renovation. It feels like the rooms are out of the 1980s at best, uncomfortable beds and just generally run down. But don't worry it's still expensive. The 2nd star is only because the staff was nice. Absolutely would not recommend this hotel

Zoid V.

Yelp
The rooms looks like crap inside: yellow walls, brown carpet, lots of Overlook Hotel vibes. It's extremely overpriced for a Sheraton for the amenities you get. Parking is 42 dollars a day. The machine to get the parking ticket isn't working. The toilet is too close to the wall in the bathroom, toilet roll holders are practically touching the toilet--so side saddle it is then, lol. Tv has basic cable, but no smart tv options. Nobody knows simple things like where you can get coffee: the urn says "complimentary coffee" in the lobby, but there is no coffee. The front desk person says it's downstairs. Downstairs there is nothing. Etc. The website mentions free breakfast buffet that does not exist due to not enough visitors. The front desk people again don't know about that, they claim it does exist. Lies. Oh and if you need anything, it takes about 5 times to call them before they pick up. The bar downstairs and the pool are great, however. Good food too. Advice to management: this is setting the bar too low for a Sheraton; do something. Retrain your staff at the front desk. Stop lying: no buffet means no buffet. I've been to super 8s that are newer and better looking and the parking is free. Yup

Yelp
We were informed the hotel Was going through a mid century renovation, construction ongoing and the room we had was supposedly renovated already. Had the ugliest color (paint, tiles, carpet) light by the sink is orange, how are you supposed to see your image on the mirror? No closet, a shelf hanger ( shelves that look like it was salvaged from old hospitals) is placed facing the door like showing to people these are my belongings when you open your door.. bathroom was awfully renovated. I hope they realize that they are renovating the hotel worse than it was before. I think the staff knew how awful it looked like coz they had to explain the look of the renovation when we were checking in.

Yelp
Stayed here this week for a conference. Hotel is currently doing a renovation. Rooms have more of a retro look with the design and paint colors. Staff was really nice. Beds were comfy. Only two things-lighting is so dark that you really couldn't see to apply makeup if you needed to. And my door was cracked when I arrived. Other than that, great stay and great staff.
google avatar

Kathy M.

Yelp
Don't stay here until they're done with the remodel. The staff was very nice and they put me in one of the completed new rooms but the smell from the paint and the construction was truly overwhelming and I couldn't sleep. The hotel bar is never open and you have to go to another hotel if you want a pool.

Yelp
Well if you're a Platinum or higher then this hotel does absolutely nothing to give you an upgrade. They show suites available for sale but upon checking in the front desk agent says it's not in their system! So why would it still be sold but then not offered to elites?! Calling customer service was also pointless because all they repeated was "availability availability" well it's available to be sold for my duration so why wouldn't it be available for me to be upgraded to?

Jesus R.

Yelp
Kim Samuel and Sonya provided me excellent service at 4 in the morning while other establishments didn't allow me to book a room

Yelp
I stayed here about 3 weeks ago for a professional conference. This place is in major need of an upgrade. When I first arrived and parked, I had to park on the top floor and it wasn't very apparent that the elevator did not go to the top floor and I had to walk down a level to get to the elevator. Thankfully I didn't have my luggage with me yet. When I checked into my room, after using the restroom I turned on the sink to wash my hands just to find out the sink wasn't working at all. I went downstairs to let them know and they said they would send someone up. Over an hour had passed and still no one had come to fix the sink. I went back down to let them know again my sink was broken and had been waiting and they said they would inform the maintenance engineers again... it took another 30 minutes for someone to get there. He fixed the sink but did a half...job. Only one of the knobs worked and over the weekend the water flow from that one knob slowly decreased until it finally stopped working again right when I left. Unfortunately while I was in line at the front desk I overheard other guests complaining about similar issues. Luckily, the food at the restaurant downstairs was good. My only complaint was that the queso was thin and a bit runny.

Yelp
This hotel gets a C- for room quality and a B for staff. The rooms smell like smoke and unless they do deep renovations you will not enjoy your stay here.

Yelp
Welcome to the HEROIN HOTEL!! We parked on the 4th floor and saw condoms and heroin needles. Elevators were not even working and no signs directing us to walk to the front lobby. When we did call the front desk, they said we needed to walk to the front of the hotel as the elevators are non-operable. When we entered the lobby - it was totally dirty, run-down, and not acceptable. We then got our room, with no towels or any bathroom items. The place was running on a skeleton crew and although the front desk crew was sincere- they were also limited in what they could do. We were too tired to book another room and had to stick it out here. Overall, we will absolutely never book at a Sheraton ever again! We got this hotel via Expedia and the reviews said it was decent. I booked the room in confidence based on the Expedia reviews which must be either fake or paid reviews. We paid $300 for this room which was $200 overpriced and parking is $40. And for $40 - that's self-parking and your car will have tons of construction dust and paint spray from the construction happening across the street. The quickest way to ruin a brand is by allowing your facility to turn into a HEROIN HOTEL, with zero attention to common cleanliness. Since we were on a business trip, this was the closest spot for our meetings - so that's why we picked it. Next time, I will check real-time reviews here on Yelp! I would avoid this hotel at all costs. This place is a total mess. The travel date was on April 21st, 2022.

Darrell J.

Yelp
I'd prefer to give hotel a rating of zero. It's a dump. Unclean - elevators don't work, construction going on, toilets broken, no lobby ... just the worst place I've ever stayed. And they've been unresponsive to all requests Stay anywhere but here.

Yelp
I would give it 0 stars. Filthy. Dirty. Unsafe. Rooms smell like an old camper. Musty and filthy carpets. No cold water. Called THREE times to fix faucet. Minimal lighting. Power source to charge phone was a surge protector outlet strip on side of bed and behind night stand. Safety hazard and FILTHY. Wouldn't walk on rug without shoes. I can't say enough how horrible it was. Staff were nice, but I would still never stay there again. It was worse than a rode side motel. Homeless people walking near entrance, no security. No elevator key pass. When i called to complain they responded with... we are under construction and trying to improve.... well, do NOT book rooms when under this condition. Construction workers in and out of the hotel, filthy elevators. Dust and debris everywhere. Photos on hotel website are false... lobby or rooms look nothing like what we dealt with. Was there for company event. Not one person was happy. People left sick. You should be ashamed taking reservations. It's in the ghetto of Austin. No coffee shops, restaurants, $50 valet???????

Yelp
My work arranged for me to stay here. Thought that it being a Sheraton property that it would be decent. I was definitely mistaken. When we first arrived the lobby appeared to be redone. But the renovations ended there. The front desk staff, however, was pleasant when checking us in. Our first issue is that out of four elevators, only one was in service. Leading to massive lines to get up and down. Our room was on the 14th floor so no way we were going to haul our luggage up 14 flights of stairs. So we had to wait. While we were waiting we noticed that a perfume smell was pumped into most areas of the hotel. Which I assume was to cover up another smell? When we finally got to our room it was dark and smelled weird. When we turned on the AC it rattled loudly the whole time it was on. Since we were staying there for 4 nights, we decided to switch rooms. They accommodated us. The staff was also apologetic. Our next room was fine but missing furniture and also smelled like the perfume smell. It was also not cleaned well as there were hairs in the bathroom that didn't belong to us. Not wanting to ask for another room, we stayed. The bed was super uncomfortable and the pillows flat. We had to order more flat pillows just to pile them on top of each other in order to be able to have a decent pillow height. I don't think we had a full nights sleep on that bed. The hotel is in terrible shape overall. I feel bad as the staff is trying their best. But the staff is sort of like that string quartet that plays as the Titanic is sinking. Would not recommend staying here. They need a complete overhaul.

Yelp
This hotel is definitely old & has obvious signs of it throughout. The staff aren't rude but not overly friendly and/or customer service driven either. The pricing is unnecessarily high for what you get; especially when it comes to the parking. It was $42 a day for self park and $49 for valet- where they park it in the same parking garage but bring it to you and park it for you for that extra $7 +tips. The best thing about this hotel stay was the breakfast- delicious, fresh and service is terrific! I'd give more stars if there was more bang for my buck or the price was more reasonable.

Yelp
This hotel is right off of I35, very easy to get in and out of. I would use the valet parking over the self park. Hotel lobby was clean and looked to have been recently updated. Check in was early and they accommodated that. Bar area down stairs was really nice. They have a small area with to-go type foods in the lobby, I didn't need anything. The room was a little outdated, behind the curtain was some drywall that needed to be replaced as it had a decent size crack in it. Bed was comfortable and being that close to the the highway I was pleasantly surprised by how quiet my room was. I was on the 10th floor but I didn't hear any noise. Using the app to check out and good to go. A few blocks away from the capital building one way and a few from 6th street the other way. I used points but the price without wasn't over the top. Will look into again the next time I visit Austin!

Yelp
Check in was great. Ben took great care of us. Lounge was closed for some drink coupons. Lobby is great. My room is deluxe suite upgrade. They are starting a massive renovation of the entire property soon. The bar was a complete train wreck. The UT super regionals and some dancing competition in the hotel ballroom. Took forever to get a beer. Thought I was back in college 20 years a go on 6th st battling for a drink.

Yelp
As my daughter would say "its giving... Ohio" shes gen z so idk. i get it Austin aint cheap for tourists. and for 250 a night for a Sheraton is cool. plus parking of almost $50. the entry to the lobby for cars--confusing ...no arrow where to enter cause they have the entrance coned off. Lobby-i think they were trying to make some type of signature scent but it just smelled like a bottle of cheap perfume exploded somewhere behind the counter. so up we go to our room.... first thing youll see is a minimalist metal ikea wardrobe hanging apparatus where a hanging closet should be. it was placed where when u open the door, its the first item you will see. no iron but has a clothes steamer. if you're relying on ironing your clothes when you get there---a vape produces more steam. it will not help you at all. so on to the bathroom.... do not try to apply your makeup here. the one 20 watt light is on the cieiling over the vanity. it will cast a shadow over your face and you wont be able to see much more cause the light cast is amber. my fridge has better lighting. i totally scared myself when i looked at my face in my car. yikes. so anyway toilet area has a movable white metal shelf that looks like it came from the bedside of a hospital unit in WW II. you would think any hotelwould put a sturdy piece of built in. the room ----i think they tried a mid century modern feel which failed. the walls are a faded pink. the bedside lamps were again cheap. the art work was meager-. a 12 inch dollar store frame over each bed. the valance over the window was cheaply made of wood amd colored an ugly brown. the lighting they used all over the room really went with the cheap furnishings for the bathroom----lightweight and something easy to throw when having a tantrum. whoever they hired to decorate this remodel should be ashamed. theres no feel of luxury anywhere. im not expecting the 4 seasons, but at best a la quinta. motel 8 would have been an upgrade. just saying. the pros however...biggest tv ive seen in a hotel room. sheets were still crisp and the air wa s cold. thank God i sleep with my eyes closed so i didnt have to look at the room anymore.

Yelp
- 28 bucks to park overnight - Springs are felt as you sleep in bed - Morning you could hear rats crawling around on the roof - Everytime you flushed it sounded like a sad lil train was passing by Served purpose of getting a room to sleep in and getting cleaned up after a day out on lake Travis. Will be smart and book a BnB or a different hotel in advance instead of last min Sheraton booking

Yelp
Do. Not. Stay. Here. This was the biggest headache I've ever had when staying at a hotel. I left my luggage at the valet desk for a few hours the day I arrived, and when I went to check in, I was immediately told they'd overbooked and they'd put me in a Marriott at the other end of the city. The concierge only told me that I would need to get into the Uber (that she was already calling for me) and that I'd be paying the same rate as I was for the current hotel. Which was extra frustrating since she called the car before I could even get my luggage from the valet desk (because no one was manning the valet desk and another concierge eventually went and got it). The second hotel was a much smaller airport-motel-style Marriott off the side of the highway, four miles away. The front desk at the second hotel seemed confused why I was even there, since they had no idea that the Sheraton was sending overbooked people over. (That said, they were lovely once they realized what was happening and got me set up right away.) Called the Sheraton the next day to find out if I was going back to their hotel or staying at the Marriott my entire stay. No one picked up for an hour. Called back again later. This time, got an answer saying I was going back to the Sheraton for my second night and would be comped by the hotel for that first night. OK great. Got to the hotel, couldn't check in early, left my bags with valet. Came back at check in and no one was at the valet desk again until I talked to front desk. Stayed there that night and got woken up before 8 a.m. by housekeeping busting in. After I came home, I asked Expedia (where I'd booked my reservation) if my first night had been comped. Expedia said to wait 7-10 days. In the meantime, I emailed the Sheraton about the situation and got a snotty email accusing me of 'price-shopping' their hotels (which makes no sense because I didn't choose to go to their other hotel, they sent me there because they overbooked). 10 days go by, I call Expedia about being comped, they have no record of me being comped by the hotel. They put me on hold with the hotel...and cannot reach anyone at the hotel for over an hour. Eventually, later that day, Expedia is able to send confirmation and I got the comped money back, I suspect I'd have been out of luck if I had tried to reach them on my own. The whole situation was ridiculous, and the place just seems understaffed and disorganized.

Yelp
I stayed there for my daughter's graduation, and it was the worst hotel experience of my life. My daughter's graduation gift was stolen from our room. Someone entered the room after servicing and removed the gift. The manager barely offered to compensate for the gift after hours of arguing with management to get a solution. The manager spoke down to me and told me I'm lucky he is doing anything to compensate me. I have never been treated so poorly. In addition the rooms are rundown. The bedding was dirty, the room smelled musty, and the shower barely worked. This hotel is an embarrassment to the Sheraton brand.

Yelp
Rooms are OK, lots of renovation. They ate pulling the typical post Covid, out lounge is closed during renovations B.S. and of course will not offer you a breakfast substitution. We have to call put these hotels w/ their convenient lounge closures for what they are so we can direct our biz to legit Marriott properties.

Yelp
The hotel is under construction and I did not see any mention of this on Marriott bonvoy app. No access to swimming pool and the rooms were musty and extremely outdated. There was mold on the room ceiling and wall that looked like it was leaking within the wall. The toilet kept running every few minutes. The hallways smelled like smoke. The lady "didn't get her name" at front desk but I do remember her name tag indicating supervisor was not courteous. I stood in front of her for more than 5 minutes and she didn't acknowledge me until she apparently was ready to speak. We were in town only one night for a concert but I will never stay again at this hotel in Austin. Completely dissatisfied and disappointed!

Yelp
This place is a dump. I can't believe Sheraton and Mariott still allow it to use their brand. Multi-level parking garage has no elevator, the stairwell is nasty, dirty, rusting and looks like it's been neglected for years. Junk piled up on the upper floor of the parking garage. Lousy front desk service. I just can't believe this is a Marriott property. It's very close to the Capitol, but it's such a rundown facility.

Yelp
This hotel was nothing but problems from the moment I walked in. To start two of the three elevators were down so it took me 15 minutes just to get to my room, second we walk in after a 6 hour travel day to find our room wasnt cleaned and the beds both looked like someone had just been sleeping in them. Then we switch rooms and the second day our keys don't work for the room so we have to deal with the elevator bs again and take another 20 minutes to get that sorted. We get to our new room and the shower doesn't drain it was almost unreal. Overall the hotel is fine but needs to be more organized and fix the little problems. Location is great but I didn't have a good overall experience staying here.

Yelp
I am an Envoy member a(which shouldn't matter) and at 6pm tried to call for room service and they refused to deliver because they're short staffed. I ask for a manager I got Alex, she couldn't even try to make because she's a supervisor and all of the "management " had left and it was 6pm. I paid $300+ a night and expect more. I was made to feel as though I was an annoyance not a customer.

Yelp
One of the worst hotels I have ever stayed at. Had to change rooms after the first night because the air conditioning wasn't working. Conference included meals. They did not have enough tables for all that attended to sit and eat, and they ran out of food. My prescription sunglasses were stolen off of a cart. I was told to get into an app to report them and someone would be back with me. NO return call. Talked to the manager, John, in regards. He promised to look in the "cage" for them and get back to me. He never did. Asked for John at the front desk and was told he already left. Then I was told that they had a very busy day. I guess too busy to take care of their guests. This place is old and run down. I saw mold around the mirror in the bathroom and the food choices/food taste is absolutely substandard!!! DO NOT STAY HERE!!!!!!

Yelp
Simply put I was not impressed. Had to stay at this hotel for a recent work event. My main issue was it was.not.clean. Being welcomed into my hotel room by random hairs on the bathroom countertop that did not belong to me? No thanks. Visible grime and water rings greeting me from the top of the hotel dresser? No thanks. Random stains of unknown origin on the bedsheets? Hell to the no. In addition to the cleanliness problem, the ancient elevators were veryyyyyyyy slow. And for some reason it was extremely difficult to find any trash cans in the lobby/bar/lounge areas? This hotel also seemed to operate the A/C only at extremes. Conference room = subzero temps. Lounge area = sweating your arse off. I gave 2 stars since the staff there were very nice and helpful but man, I was not impressed by this hotel at all.

Yelp
Not worth the money. For starters, you have to call the front desk to request room service. We called twice a day and no one actually came. The first time we called the front desk we were met by a rude lady who asked us "um...well what do you even what cleaned?". We legit had to explain that we wanted clean towels, the bed made, more toilet paper, (i.e. what you expect to happen when you stay in a hotel) Besides that, the rooms are very small, dark, and dingy. Don't stay here. There's several other hotels in the area and this one is terrible

Yelp
Hotel is very outdated and not work over $300.00 a night. Stay away and look for a cheaper and nicer hotel in Austin area.

Yelp
Here's the real deal. If you are a hotel snob, don't stay here. It is a bit janky. The rooms are really outdated, the toilets often don't flush properly, some of the tv remote buttons don't work, the front desk staff aren't exactly trained well as they provided conflicting information (and charged the wrong credit card even though we told them multiple times which one was correct) and they don't have any room service. Also, they charge you an additional $40 a day for parking. However, those things aside...there are some really great things too. I read many poor reviews about the beds...I'm not sure if they've since upgraded, but the beds to me was one of the best parts. It is a firm mattress but they are super comfy especially with the down comforter and excellent pillows. The Yard Bar - has great food, an excellent breakfast buffet, and one of the best bartenders (Sara) I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. She is kind, welcoming, and knowledgeable about the area. The breakfast buffet in the Yard Bar is also excellent and affordable. But what makes it extraordinary is the wonderful gentlemen that greets you and gets you drinks, Rolando. This man is a gem of all gems! The most service focused, warm, friendly man you could ever meet. Honestly, the delicious drinks and hospitality that both Sara and Rolando showed me made all the difference. If they could staff the whole place with Sara's and Rolando's you'd have yourself a high quality hotel. They are literally the ONLY reason I would even consider booking this hotel again!

Yelp
Worst Sheraton Hotel. I stay exclusively at Marriott properties. This one is a disgrace to the Marriott collection of hotels. Dirty, smelly, dingy room... smelled like some type of urine. Dead plants in pool area. Had a Terrible time getting them to just service our room after a 4 night stay...had to ask at least four times for fresh towels and trash to be emptied. The only thing nice about this place was the people who work here. They tried to make up for a poorly managed hotel.

Yelp
So the good the bad and the ugly 1st the good location is amazing! Gust service very good! 2nd the bad Bed is wore out - Felt every spring The room was not very clean - it's old and needs an update bad! 3rd the ugly See the pictures Almost everything in our room was stained or dirty! The chair had a bad leg, sat in it and had to stand right back up so I did not end up on the floor I'm sure it don't happen all The time but they had a large tree fall, the crew to clean it up was on the job by 830 (chain saws, chipper) and it was right below our window! So we where up at 830 after staying up late the night before! This was a Saturday morning!

Sergio M.

Yelp
We stayed here for 2 nights and got woken up everyday at 8 by construction that was happening above our room and all thru out the day. If you had construction going on in your hotel why wouldn't you notify your guest?.

Yelp
Ogres are like onions: they have layers. The Sheraton has layers too, and hopefully the ugly exterior does not turn you away, because the inner layers are beautiful. First, it's located very conveniently in downtown Austin. It's easily reached by public transportation from the airport, and you can walk/scooter to University campus or music venues without much effort. You're just a few blocks away from amazing barbecue too. The lobby area is very nice, with tons of natural light and modern design cues. It is completely different from the mottled clay look of the exterior, and overall feels much more hip and cool than you expect from a Sheraton. The ground floor lobby overlooks the bar area one level down, which followed the same style. One afternoon of my stay they were giving out complimentary boozy egg nog (it was just before Thanksgiving - Christmas creep is real), and for maybe the first time ever I found myself hanging out in a hotel lobby/bar out of enjoyment rather than necessity. The fitness center was relatively well equipped (it's not a full gym, but it's better than the lonely treadmill and two free weights crammed in the basement that you'll see passed off in other places), and the poor was an indoor-outdoor combo (though technically "open" it was chilly and not at all pool weather). Outside was a well manicured and furnished area that functioned as an extension of the bar. Despite the positives, there were a few service missteps. When I went out in the morning around 10 am, the zigzagging hallway (a product of the building's shape) had several pizza and takeout boxes left outside of rooms. When I returned at 9pm after a day out, they were still there. Service in the bar was slow and less-than-attentive (though food came quickly once finally ordered and the happy hour prices are excellent). I don't want to say I felt ignored, but my glass stayed empty for quite a while before anyone asked if I needed another (and it was not crowded at all). As a Marriott gold member, I was pleased to have my request for a high-floor room honored, but I'm not sure my room with a view of a construction site was an "upgrade" (though the other side of the hotel may face the noisy bars in the neighborhood). The room felt small by Texas standards and the bathroom felt more budget than chic. Clearly the renovations and updates in the lobby have not come to the guest rooms yet. My TV did not work at all, but I didn't really want to use it anyway. Still, the bed was comfy, the wi-fi acceptable, and the water pressure strong. Check-in/out was no problem at all. I would for sure stay here again if cash rates remain competitive. I booked directly with Marriott, and when I found a lower price on an online travel agency, they matched the rate.

Yelp
Its ATX (Austin) week, and the start of four places I hit while I was in ATX. I stayed here overnight for a b'ness trip. The Sheraton Capitol is about 7 mi from AUS airport in DT ATX. Specifically, its on 11th St next to I-35, a half mile from that DT ATX hotspot, 6th Street. The lobby is fairly nice. It looks as though its been updated recently. Secondarily, the fitness center is open 24 hours. However, the rooms are small and dated. There is still popcorn on the ceiling (WTF)!!! On the other hand, the hotel is fairly quiet. In addition, the exercise area is fairly modern and was a nice surprise. Lastly, the staff is nice. My client is constructing a building in nearby Pflugerville, so I may have to return. Unless I receive a better rec, I would stay here again. The price was reasonable @ $160/night.

Yelp
Sadly this hotel has gone downhill during the last four years while our son has been here at school. Missing furniture in our room (they said they're in the midst of transitioning and the chairs were all removed), inoperative coffee maker, crappy remote/tv and didn't even clean our room- we were here two nights. As Bonvoy Gold members we used to eat breakfast on the member level for free- yesterday had to eat in the restaurant- the same buffet so don't think it has anything to do w covid- and it was $78 for three people. Hall walls are nicked and I had the same dirty elevator button plate on my floor all 3 days, despite housekeeping staff using it constantly. Hey- how about taking a wipe to it? Won't be back- too many other options.

Yelp
Poor service for reward members. Elevators slow, out of three elevators only 1 seem to work the next. We were on the 8th floor had to ride up than down to get to ground level. Took 15 minutes on a Sunday morning and the hotel seemed to be fairly empty. Hallways seemed old and out dated. Don't bother using the online chat system no one monitors it.

Yelp
2nd time staying here to see King George. This hotel staff is nothing but exceptional. Greeting was especially warm being a silver elite member. Quick check in, great clean room. Darren the Bartender was great being his first week here. Will come back whenever in Austin.
