Absolutely amazing vibes. Very small place and tucked away. Food was phenomenal and thoughtful. Will definitely come back for more seasonal offerings.

The Omakase was so fresh and tasty. Service was phenomenal. Really enjoyed my time there and tasted the many different offerings from the chef. Brought my family along and they all agreed it was a great experience. I will definitely come back. It is reservations only at set time intervals. Place is cozy, which makes the food better because the chef is concentrating on creating food for a set amount of people.

Got in for the late seating on a Friday night. This place does not disappoint. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left, it was such a fun experience with delicious food. Everything was super fresh and well presented. The decor reminded me of the small restaurants in Tokyo. Highly recommend the 18 course dinner. I still ordered a few extra pieces after. The sake slushies sneak up on you, so be careful of those! I will absolutely be back next time I visit New York. Thank you Peter and Ed!

I had my birthday dinner here a couple weeks ago and I couldn't have been happier. My partner and I got the higher tier omakase. Every piece was exceptional, creative, and absolutely delicious. Some of the pieces just melted in our mouths and we were in food heaven. We drove in from NJ and had omakase at other places before, but shhh stood out the most to us. The combination of fish and different, intrinsic flavors just adds so much depth to each plate. The black sesame soft service ice cream at the end was the perfect, refreshing dessert to end the meal. We left feeling very happy and full. The service was phenomenal and the owner treated us like family. They gave special attention to us and it was an intimate experience. We even stayed after our meal was over to have some more drinks. The interior is very cozy and beautiful ambiance. We will definitely be back! FANTASTIC AFFORDABLE OMAKASE DINNER! Love the concept as the restaurant is hidden behind a soft swerve shop and they serve their soft swerve for dessert at the end! They also use fresh, quality ingredients and their omakase menu is so meticulously curated. I was told that they rotate their menu and ingredients every two weeks to ensure the freshest, most unique experience they can give to their customers. Ambience is also fantastic! Since the space is rather tight, it made for smooth and easy conversation with the other guests as well. Highly recommend this spot for a cute date night.

Delicately hidden in the streets of Chinatown, Manhattan, Shhh Omakase exceeded my expectations when looking for top quality sushi. Not only do they have beautifully plated sushi but they also have a great, friendly atmosphere. The soft pink lighting helps you relax and the workers, specifically Kat, engage you in simple yet fun conversations while you wait. Each bite of sushi will have you craving for more, and they even have their own ice cream in different flavors! Perfect way to cleanse your palate. Overall, I give Shhh Omakase a solid 5/5 stars without hesitation.

Omakase in NYC has blossomed over the years with many options in the city. As of this review, I had been to SHHH a total of three times. It was nice to hear that there was a good quality omakase spot right by Chinatown/LES. They are located on a narrow street and it is truly the definition of a speakeasy. The outer building has the signage of a beauty salon. You have to walk closer and on the window you will see Shhh Omakase. However as you enter, it is not a sushi bar. They have soft serve and frozen drinks in that area during the day. Once your reservation is confirmed there is a doorway that leads into a very cozy sushi bar. The decor and ambience is unlike the fancier sushi restaurants in the city. The vibes inside Shhh are akin to like a back alley hole-in-the-wall establishment that only locals know about. And that is one of the aspects that make this place very unique because you know that service will be more personalized. The seating is very tight as well as the walking space behind you. Worst case scenario is you have to scoot the seat in a bit more as people brush past you but once everyone is seated, very minor issues. As of this review they offer two options for omakase: -14 course for $98 pp (3 appetizers 1 soup/chawanmushi 8 seasonal nigiri) -16 course for $128 pp ( 4 appetizers 10 unique nigiri 1 handroll and in house soft serve There is a $25 optional add-on of a special uni-ikura don that is a nice treat afterwards. I usually add it for my guest. Depending on the amount of reservations, there are at least two sushi Chefs preparing and serving at one time and they are very good at what they do. The servers / waitresses that have been taking care of myself and my guests each time are very beautiful and so polite. There is unlimited sake so if you ever make a reservation there, be ready to drink. I have visited three times as of the writing of this review and each experience was a bit different the the last. All their ingredients are fresh and used within two to three days. So whatever fresh fish they have on hand for that night is on the menu as they do a great job of ordering supplies each week. In addition to the seasonal omakase, they offer an a la carte menu: - Hotate (hokkaido sea scallop and salmon roe - Botan Ebi (botan shrimp with tamago shaving - Akami (bluefin tuna with onion salsa - Chu Toro (medium fatty tuna with caviar and gold flakes -O Toro (fatty tuna with caviar and gold flakes) -Kinmedai (golden eye red snapper) -Medai (yellowtail with banana pepper and truffle oil) -A5 Wagyu w foi gras -A5 Wagyu w uni and caviar The whole experience comes full circle due to the great service along with the carefully crafted pieces offered in the omakase. During my first visit, along with the chefs behind the counter was a cool guy named Sing. He was able to make the rounds and check on every customer as well as explain each piece in great detail as the chefs were prepping. He also kept coming around and filling up the sake glasses and chatted with everyone. I can tell they care about every customer and treat everyone like family. And that is why I bring my friends back to dine in. Also special mention to Katherine who provides service with a smile when I dine in and is always so nice. *For reservations they usually have three slots that you can book via Open Table or calling the restaurant. Pro tip from the beautiful server mentioned above- Weekends are usually busy but the last slot either 8p or 9p (check the schedule) is where you and your friends will have the best experience. No need to rush and more sake time. Of course choose the time that best fits your schedule.

Great omakase in Chinatown that has goals to include a speakeasy in the basement and an ice cream parlor in the front! We came as a party of five and chose the 17 course menu for around 150. They have great fun atmosphere and unlimited free sake with very friendly service. It is different from other omakase places in that they offer a lot of small plates like oyster with ikura, snails, squid, clam. The fish is fresh and changes based on what gets shipped in so there are definitely more unique options here. We finished off with a great lychee ice cream. I'm glad I tried it. Definitely better than many other omakase places but Sushi Ishikawa is still my favorite as I feel that the pieces were more unique and had melt in your mouth as well as omg this is amazing feel.

What makes this omakase unique is its diverse menu. From sea snails to conch to toasted black cod, each course is strong. An enjoyable experience, although it would have been nice if they could explain each dish a bit more clearly, sometimes I wasn't exactly sure what I was eating. The ambiance is also unique in that is trendy and modern.

What a wonderful evening of Omakase with friends! Itamae Jason's omakase was absolutely enjoyable. Our server Kat was nice and attentive. She made sure our complimentary house sake was always flowing. It was hard to pick a favorite, as each omakase had a different texture and taste that I enjoyed. For example, the Hokkaido Scallop and Ikura. The scallops were sliced, what a difference in texture and taste. Delicate and not briny. The pickled ginger was cut in cubes vs the traditional slices. So much juicier to the bite, quite gratifying. The slicing, dicing, cutting techniques really does affect flavors and textures. I think I had tasted succulent, slimmy, crunchy, fresh, pickled, tender, velvety, smoky and balance of sweet, sour and salty. Would highly recommend to friends

Incredibly friendly, attentive, and informative service. The ambiance and vibes were perfect. Unlimited sake meant everything was fun and upbeat. The omakase itself was superb. One of the most unique and inventive omakase meals I have had, and the fact it was had at such a reasonable price is amazing. I will be coming back a lot, I can't wait to recommend this place to all my friends.

Great place to bring someone for a surprise party. When you first enter the place, it looks like an empty ice cream shop with no one working the counter. You peak behind the curtain to see if anyone can help you with a scoop of black sesame ice cream and BAM! Omakase speakeasy restaurant. This ain't a cheese and fries for 2.95 type of place. This is high quality fish flown in from Japan and meticulously prepared for your taste buds. The unlimited sake will make you're forget that you're in the back of an ice cream shop and the bill at the end will make you question how this place is making a profit. There are specific start and end times for the meal, so definitely make a reservation online. As always, remember it's not how you take pictures of your food but how you enjoy your food.

We went to shhh omakase for my friend's birthday. They promised unlimited sake, and they made sure our bottle was never empty. The staff was friendly, and it was overall a fun vibe fit for a birthday dinner. They also accommodated my shellfish allergy. The pieces that we got, although not mind-blowing, were good. I would recommend for birthday dinners on a Friday night!

This was an amazing experience. We actually pass the entrance on the first run. And then you walk into a little ice cream parlor. Then you actually walk into the restaurant area which only seats a capacity of 13 max but they will fit 14 if it's a private party. Every dish was amazing. It was truly an Omakasa experience and I have been too many. Singh the owner was very accommodating and friendly and he has a passion for this. Thank you for the experience and we will be back for sure.

Came here for a post Valentine's Day dinner and it did not disappoint! A speakeasy sushi spot that is hidden behind an ice cream shop. Space is tight and cozy and seats about 12 people. We opted for the 18 course omakase at $158 pp and it did not disappoint. Chef Jason was amazing in creating each course. Couldn't pick a favorite because they were all exceptional and delicious. The fish is flown in from Japan and the west coast. It is so fresh that it melts in your mouth. The unlimited sake was also a nice touch. Definitely will be back.

Went to Shhh for the first time last night. I've been to a bunch of different omakase experiences, and this was one of the most unique places in terms of fish selection and ambiance. The staff were personable and created a really nice atmosphere. The all you can drink sake was also a nice touch. Unfortunately, about an hour after leaving, I got very sick. Not sure what caused it, but I won't be going back.

Went with a group of friends. Amazing experience and exceptional service. Sushi course was well thought out and everything tasted fresh. Ambiance felt like I was back in Japan in a hidden alley. Favorites: Scallop ikura Otoro with truffle Uni Bowl New: Young Barracuda! Will definitely be back soon!

there are SO many new affordable omakase restaurants popping up in nyc, so let me try them out for y'all to show you the best of the best!! shhh omakase just opened recently and they're hidden behind a cute little ice cream shop (which is going to actually be selling ice cream soon, or so they said) you can choose between 14 courses for $98 or 18 courses for $158. we had 14 courses and left stuffed so already a good sign. i loved the unique and thoughtful lineup, for example they serve the fattiest pieces like otoro/chutoro at the end so your tastebuds aren't overwhelmed by all the fat!! i also saw they had cod milt which i wanted to try so badly but turns out we juuuust missed when they were in season... guess i'll just have to go again soon also shoutout to the waitress kat & owner xing for the amazing service. it was so fun to chat with them during their downtime! 14 course menu for $98 (* = my faves): -clear fish soup* -kumamoto oyster wirh ikura, quail egg* -bluefin tuna with yamaimo yam and shiitake mushrooms* -chawanmushi with uni & caviar* -baby sea bream with sea grape -shima aji with pickled wasabi & onion -isaki (threeline grunt) -kinmedai -aji horse mackerel -hotate scallop with sea salt and ikura* -akami topped with onion salsa -otoro with black truffle paste* -negitoro uni toast with caviar -ube melona ice cream

This is the best food I have ever had. The service is beyond anything I have experienced. The atmosphere is beyond the pale. Presence in the conversation and dedication to service makes you feel valued as a guest. There is electricity in the walls at Shhh. If I could eat here every night i would do so without question. I can truly only say thank you for the experience.

For a $100 omakase course I felt like the vibe of the chef could've been more friendly since we were the only ones there and it felt like he was ignoring us. The food was decent - I couldn't compare it to other great omakase places I've been to. They definitely are trying a different take on omakase.

For an AYCD omakase, this is a great value. They don't rush you and the ambience is great. You have 1 hour 45 mins to enjoy 14 or 18 courses. However, I thought the fish choices were average at best. A lot of the pieces were chewy, smaller than usual, and lacked flavor. My favorite piece was the ohtoro with caviar and truffle. Staff is super friendly and the sake is free flowing. But, overall, Sushi On Me has better fish at a 1 hour 15 min seating vs. Shhh at 1 hour 45 mins and enjoyed that experience more. 3.9/5 stars

Came here for dinner and the atmosphere was unmatched. Not your typical bougie, quiet, omakase experience. It was more laid back, conversational, and welcoming. The owner, Xing, is personable, educated us on omakase, and told us a story about each course. Truly a gem of a place - I will be bringing my friends back.

Now the quantity... let me tell you, they definitely do not skimp out! Just imagine the PERFECT fish to rice ratio! Another honorable mention is their Suntory on draft; not sure who was pouring it but it was the most perfect pour and ice cold. They also have a great sake selection! First-time sushi bliss! The caviar, uni, and toro on toast were a flavor explosion. Otoro with truffle paste was a rich delight, and the chawanmushi with uni and caviar? Pure silky magic. An unforgettable feast that made me a sushi lover!

A small sushi counter behind an unassuming ice cream shop, Shhh Omakase boasts a wonderful quality of both food and atmosphere to enjoy. Keeping up with the motto of making sure that everything is always fresh and in season, the Chefs are constantly updating the menu to make the most out of the freshest ingredients. Every time you come in you can expect a completely new experience to keep you on your toes. I came for my birthday, and we got the 14-course omakase option. All of the food was delicious, we started with the appetizer rounds which were all creative combinations of great flavors, of which the Uni Soba pasta was a standout. This was a great warmup for the Sushi courses. All of the fish was fresh and was meticulously prepared by Chef Jay to make sure it was all perfect. The standout part of the sushi course was the OToro piece completely melted in my mouth and had an amazing amount of flavor in one bite. Overall I'd say it was the best tasting sushi experience I've had. The small shop was cozy but felt personal rather than cramped. The service was friendly and prompt, making sure that the drinks, including the unlimited sake, were ever empty. Did I mention the unlimited sake? Once you sit down you're greeted with a full carafe of nice cold sake to accompany the food, and once you're finished with that, you get another one! All of course included in the cost of dinner. Compared to other Omakase I've had in the city, this experience felt more relaxed as you're able to take more time in between each course to really savor your piece, talk about what you liked, and have a drink. The pacing really does wonders for your enjoyment of the meal as well as you're never feeling rushed, even at the end. The soft serve ice cream at the end of the meal to top it all off is the perfect ending to a great experience! I'd recommend this spot, especially as a birthday. For the price point with the quality of the ingredients and care it can't be beat!

With all the new omakase spots opening up, this place stands out among the rest. With their speakeasy aesthetic and delicious food, I'm definitely coming back. We tried the 18 course option and it did not disappoint. Chef Jason was knowledgable and passionate about each piece. The unique toppings like onion relish and pickled wasabi are a must try. Since their menu changes often, I cant wait to come back!

This place was definitely a hit for me in terms of quality, quantity and service. Usually omakases don't hit the spot where im completely satisfied and full but this place did it. They serve hearty pieces and definitely do not skimp on that. The ambiance definitely mimicked the str on streets of japan where you get the real feel of eating there.

Couldn't get enough of this omakase joint! I mean, I came back for round two in the same week AND decided to spill my thoughts here. It's officially one of my top 3 omakase spots. Went for the 18-course omakase both times. My hubby, who's usually stopping for pizza or McDonald's post-omakase, left happily stuffed. Every piece was a win, but the toast, toro with truffle, wagyu with foie gras, uni ikura bowl, and Chuwamushi--they stole the show. Uni was served in 3 different courses and it was so sweet and delicious - I'm picky with my uni. The flavors paired seamlessly with the ingredients. A shout out to Olivia, our awesome waitress who kept our drinks topped up. Did I mention unlimited sake is included? I honestly can't stop thinking about this meal

Found this little hidden gem in Chinatown, it felt as if I stepped into Omoide Yokocho in Shinjuku. Great service, Jason our sushi chef was so kind and attentive, answered all my questions with a smile. The presentation was beautiful, loved the little sake cup with a fish, such cute details. My top three dishes have to be the uni with a fish roe cream, yuzu Konjac and crab meat, the Otoro with truffle and the wagyu with foie gras and uni. I'm definitely visiting again! oh and don't forget to grab your soft serve on the way out, the perfect little treat to the end of a great meal. Definitely visiting again.

This cute spot tucked behind an ice cream shop speakeasy. My second omakase & Shhh did not disappoint! Wow! Every course was just as good as the last bite. Super fresh str8 from Japan & a lot of different fishes from your average omakase spots these days. The food alone was 5 stars & then you add unlimited sake. I'll definitely be coming back & telling all of my friends to go. Service was great too!

Went to celebrate my sister's birthday and there was someone else celebrating a birthday! Seems like a birthday type of place- have a birthday? GO! Waitstaff was attentive and fish was fresh! And there was even some wagu beef! They also accommodated my shellfish and avocado allergies!

So you literally will have a TRUE omakase experience each time you visit! I can't wait for my next MEALS to come!

Oh My God! Omakase! Quality for the price.... can't beat it. Cozy place, hidden behind a what looks like a slushy store but service and Quality was all there. Needs advance reservations and I believe they only have three seating a day... so book early. They were having a testing their slushy drinks (with a twist) it was tasty and had a kick to it, with summer right around the corner.... it'll be a best seller. If you like Sushi, you gotta try it.... won't be disappointed.

Amazing experience at Shhh Omakase. The service was outstanding and the chefs were very accommodating. The staff were also very friendly and entertaining. They were very generous with their portions and we were offered complementary sake with our meal. Overall a great time spent and would definitely come back for their seasonal menu changes!

Came back and tried the 14 course. It was good and came with unlimited sake. They also have a promotion 15% off if you pay in cash. Great deal for $83. The fish was fresh and chef Jason was creative. Will be coming back.

So fun and so, so, so, delicious! The chefs and servers are extremely fun and knowledgeable and explain every dish. The food was the best sushi I have ever had!! As an omakase novice I can't wait to return-this was the best date spot I've been to in NYC. The vibe in the restaurant is absolutely fantastic, the decor is so fun and cute and the serving platters and small details made it next level. The food cannot be understated, it was absolutely phenomenal. The unlimited sake was a great touch to an absolutely amazing night. Can't wait to come back!!!

The place is a little secretive so if you're not sure the address you may miss it, but it is behind a little cute ice cream shop. Reservations are a must. The place is tight and everyone is seated at the counter to see the Shokunin at work. The restaurant has pretty designs and is very quaint. Don't forget to let the staff know if you have any allergies and you will get something different but if you like me I was a little jealous and want to have some of that too. So is it different or Special. LOL The fish is ordered from all over the world and different each time depending on what is in that day. See my pics for a look of the special food. The Shokunin and the staff are great and tentative. Always checking everything is great and tasty. Restocking the ginger, water and as much as you can drink Sake. The experience in a whole was great. I came with family for a birthday and we all had a great time. And everyone sang Happy Birthday at the end not forgetting the special ice cream served. Lol that also sometimes different. So again great experience that will never be exactly the same so I will be back!!! Thank you Jason, Jay and Kat.
