"A useful Tribeca bar to know about for sake-focused and non-sake-focused nights alike, Shigure serves a long list of sake made all over Japan behind an unmarked door on Church Street. The atmosphere here generally stays calmer than a party-time cocktail spot, all while feeling nicer than a neighborhood dive. Come for Happy Hour on Monday-Saturday from 4-7pm for $5 cups of dry-leaning junmai sake as well as discounted (and delicious) sashimi and karaage." - Hannah Albertine

Excellent experience here with the food and staff. Our waitress was very helpful with menu questions and the food we had was so incredibly fresh and flavorful. I ordered the Udon and also got the salmon avocado roll, both were excellent. We also tried the plum wine, which is very sweet, but delicious.

Everything at Shigure was delicious. My favorite dish was the pork belly kakuni which was cooked to perfection and accompanied by a boiled egg and wasabi that paired perfectly. We also loved the buttery Asari butter clams and the salmon & potato croquette, which was a unique and amazing combination of red sauce, fish and potatoes. The oolong-hi shochu was the perfect drink for this meal because it was earthy, simple and refreshing! Highly recommend dining here.

Really good food, good music(japanese punk) and Shoju flights! I had a pretty magical dinner experience here. Had the fried baby mackerel, sakura inari, and tempura shrimp roll. Everything tasted great!

Upscale dining with interesting (sometimes sweet) touches—like hamburger in a darling paper pouch or the cereal under a scoop of ice cream. Haven’t tried any of their drinks but the list is extensive.

Low key spot but very good. We had about 6 dishes between the two of us and we were full! Everything was so tasty. Highly recommend the gyoza. It’s so fresh and cooked so well

The drinks were unique since they are all imported from Japan but, very pricey (we ordered Japanese Hibiki Harmony Whiskey) I only got to order an appetizer and it was good, besides the hair I found on it. When we were ready to order, our waitress was no were to be found. I got the attention from another waiter and explained to him we were ready to order. He then said okay and walked away from us. It took us 14 minuets after receiving our drink to try and order. By that time we were extremely hungry and decided to go elsewhere since we were pretty much ignored. The only kept coming to our table once we had the check to pretty much take our bill and their tip.

I absolutely love this place. Brilliant selection of sake, shochu, and Japanese spirits. And the food is quite lovely as well. If you're a carnivore the Japanese style fried chicken is a must.

Shigure is a little bit of a low-key joint in a quiet part of Tribeca without a lot of Japanese options. We went there for the first time recently, and wondered why it took us so long to finally try it. Love it!
