I've been coming to Shilla periodically for the past 25 years. It's one of the long standing mom and pops that are still around after all these years and the quality is still top notch! It's also one of the few places that still cooks on a stone grill top. We stopped by for a birthday meal around 5:00PM on a Sunday because I was craving marinated galbi and beef rib with a great helping of banchan. We were promptly seated with no wait. The aunties are always super sweet and welcoming. They cook the meat for you as well! The sides are fresh, delicious and I always get a refill because it's that good! Don't forgot the kimchi fried rice at the end. They sang me a sweet birthday song along with a slice of cheesecake. Looking forward to coming back when I get another hankering of for high let quality cuts of kbbq meats.

Would you guys eat raw beef!? Shilla off the 405 near LAX is the perfect spot for korean food. They have milk tea and great $17.99 lunch specials including bibimbap, galbi tang, and even house made cold noodles. And the ajummas and ajusshis are in the back cooking up everything so you know it’s going to be good. My favorite is their yukaejang or spicy beef noodle soup. So tender with a kick enjoy.

WOW the service here is amazing! all the ajummas and servers were super attentive and made sure we were well fed throughout the entirety of the meal. loved the variety in side dishes! pricey menu but good quality meat! the short rib and beef brisket was my favorite. best part? they cook it to perfection for you! i loved the kimchi friend rice, steamed egg and soup that was included! spacious interior! a lot of seating especially for bigger groups/parties. definitely will be back when im in the area

We came in for a bite to eat. Was greeted by the hostess and host. We were seated immediately and had help ordering which ended up saving us money. We got their 3 meat option with Brisket, Bulgogi and thinly sliced pork belly The meat quality is very good The portion sizes are good The price is ok because it's California and the food quality is good Service was very good

The food here is AMAZING!!!! Great quality of meat. I love the service here the staffs came and made the fried rice into the heart shape for us.

If you're looking for Korean barbecue in a cozy environment, this is it. At Shilla, the ahjummas (Korean ladies) will cook the meats for you and are always encouraging you to eat more XD Now that we're heading into a chilly winter this year, I wanna make sure ya'll have this spot saved for your LA food bucket list. The quality of all their meats is just unparalleled—the ladies will literally pick off the excess fat when they're cooking while making sure every cut is grilled to perfection. And this is the perfect place for family-style sharing so you can try a little bit of everything, like seafood ramen and galbi tang (beef short rib soup). I loooved their seafood pancake and would absolutely go back just for this! And you know their food is made with love when their kimchi fried rice is cooked right in front of you in a heart...so freakin' adorable. Thanks for reading! ^-^

Google
One of the best Korean BBQ places in LA. Service was great especially since we had a baby with us. Really chill atmosphere and our servers explained everything to us in detail and were very patient. Would definitely come again.

Jessica is the sweetest and was very accommodating with some of our dietary restrictions! We loved the authentic korean cuisine cooked in sesame oil! We will absolutely come back!

Yelp
The food was great, the service from JP was the best. For first time eating there I had a great first impression.

Yelp
Not very busy on Sunday. Opted for a beef set and the meat quality was great! Service was also amazing, they grilled the meat for us and our servers were so attentive. Refilling the banchans and even going above and beyond on food recs. The establishment doesn't reek of grilled meats like other kbbq places so I appreciated that too

Yelp
Incredible place Delicious Very welcoming and attentive The radish slices are awesome Will come back asap!!!!!

Yelp
I've never been so appalled at the service for a KBBQ spot. First, you shouldn't say sorry about having a large party that's also dining at the same time as you. You still have to be able to have some sense in the level of service. We're not impatient people but when you're giving your plates of meat and ban chan in very odd waves and inconsistent, then of course we're gonna question. I mean why did it take most of our meat to be cooked to get us dipping sauces? And what about the corn cheese and rice paper? We did have to ask for the rice to come out early because the kids couldn't eat without it with their meat. On top of that, meats were just okay. Only prime rib sliced of the B-B combo was the best bite. At the beginning of the meal, the waitress mentioned first time diners get 10% off on appetizers and then did not reflect it on our bill. It was just an odd experience. I've dined at several Korean spots where we did no research and took a chance and this was really the most disappointing one. Service - 1 / Ambiance - 2 / Food - 3 / Price - 2.5

Yelp
Fresh, delicious and good service! We loved our experience. Only thing for us, was the music was a little loud so it is hard to chat. Same reason I don't love Gen, but I like this place better then Gen. it's not AYCE, but the portions are good and the banchan is wahhhh better then Gen.

Yelp
We were a table of 5 and waited a bit for the table to be ready while there were a lot of other tables filled. The servers were nice otherwise, but was a little bit of an odd start seeing people just walking back and forth but seemingly doing any tasks. Once we were seated, service was pretty good. Combo B-B was enough for 5 of us. Meat quality was good and they cook it for you which is a plus. I liked the cooking surface they have, and they even have little racks to put the cooked meat which was really nice so it didn't overcook. Banchan was pretty standard and they did have radish wraps. After the meat is cooked, they make a kimchi fried rice at the end which looked flavorful in that deep orange kimchi color, but just tasted so/so. Not packed with flavor and a little soft. We ended the meal with cold noodle which really hit the spot! It was nice and slushy! So refreshing after a heavier, meaty meal.

Yelp
Atmosphere - good Food - very good Service - very good We were able to easily get a reservation on a Saturday night. That is unusual for some of the local Korean barbecue spots. The restaurant is pretty clean and that's not always the case for some of these KBBQ's are only complaint is that we often go to Garden Grove to our favorite KBBQ spot and the price is about half of what we paid at this one and the meat quality is not better. I personally always get soondobu and that was pretty good. The banchan is also very good. But the value just isn't there.

Yelp
This review is based solely on a delivery order (DD)! I ordered the Galbi Dinner Box, it comes with 9 different sides and they were all good. Ingredients were fresh and the temperature was perfect. The kimchi was delicious and not overly fermented. Although I enjoyed this meal it's expensive, $40. Honestly just knock ten dollars off and it would seem more reasonable. Overall I'd order again. Definitely interested in trying more of their food.

Yelp
If you're reading this it's your sign to GO! The meat quality is hands down the best in the South Bay and the banchans are so fresh! Even the salad they serve is super delicious. It's perfect to come here with a group and the portions are big enough to share. We ordered a combo and it was more than enough. They even make kimchi fried rice in the end too! My favorite meats of course are the galbi and it's amazing! I also recommend their cold noodles and tofu soup. This restaurant has been here for 40 years and it's a staple in Gardena! Make sure to check it out!

Yelp
04.23.2025 Went here for a lunch function with Coworkers. Sat us down for a party of 5. Ordered Korean Short Ribs and Beef brisket. Received all within 5 minutes. The meats were placed on top of a weird burner. I have not seen a burner like this before. It's unique. All the cooking was performed by our server. We did not have to touch a thing! All work was done hands free. Kudos to that process. Meats were fresh and delicious. No complaints. Good place !! Jenny did a good job! Her service was exceptional. Food was delicous. Place is Clean. Ambiance was modern but not to modern to a point where they play loud rap or techno music. The place wasn't busy when we got there for opening lunch which was a big plus. Overall, this place treated you nice and the taste was excellent. I would definitely come back again. This place is worthy.

Yelp
As always, the food, service, and ambiance is top-notch stellar! The food is amazing! Food cooked in front of you and it is absolutely delicious!!!! It is a must try experience.

Yelp
I came here with a group of five on a later Sunday night and the restaurant wasn't busy so we got sat right away. The inside of the restaurant looks pretty run down and not the cleanest. The menu was a little confusing as the sets are for a specific amount of people. The quality of meat was okay, the set did come with fried rice, a soup, corn cheese, rice paper, and steamed egg. Unfortunately due to the egg shortage they didn't have the steamed egg so we got extra corn cheese. For the price, I don't think it was worth it and won't be back.

Yelp
This place gets a lot of hype but I'm not 100% sure why. We ordered B D deal and it was decent. Some of the meat were chewy and too fatty. The service was mediocre. They were super nice but didn't help with much of the cooking. Once one of the members from the group started to turn the meat, someone would come and start. Most of the meat was overcooked due to their lack of service. We had to ask for some sides more than once, and ordered more items multiple times. The place is small, quaint but then I realized there's more spots in the back. It seems like a place that would be really busy on a normal Friday or weekend night. Overall, I wouldn't come back. It was nice to try though.

Yelp
Service SUCKS here. The food is mediocre and it's not all you can eat. They make the food at the table and look bothered if you ask for something. Our server/cook would cook our food and quickly walk away and pretend he doesn't hear us when we ask for something. Go somewhere else for KBBQ.
google avatar

Peter H.

Yelp
Our waiter forgot about us for like 45 minutes despite us asking other servers to get him. I think he went for a smoke break lol. At one point we asked a lady server (maybe the boss?) about the last portion of our meal which was the fried rice. Eventually she came over instead to finish up our service. Even asking for refills on the water was challenging. But the meat was good! They looked like nice cuts. No issues with their banchans/sides as well. Maybe they were just short staffed but, I looked around the room and everyone else seemed to be getting their food and stuff on time. It seemed like we were forgotten or not a priority (and before you get any ideas, no we were not being rude or needy or overbearing LOL)

Yelp
What I Ordered: Beef Brisket Prime Rib Sliced Shilla Woodae Rib MujiFuji Fresh Pork Belly Food: Shilla was a KBBQ spot I went often when I was a kid, so I was excited to visit as an adult. With the first view of the marbling on the meats, I can tell that the meats were definitely high quality compared to other spots in the neighborhood. My favorite has to be the Sliced Prime Rib. I swear each piece of meat melted in my mouth with this one. I typically eat the meat as it is, but they have a variety of sauces available for those of you who like to sauce it up. The meal comes with a variety of side dishes that are house made in addition to a salad.  After you are done with your meat, they make a serving of Kimchi Fried Rice. YOU HAVE TO GET THIS. Each piece of rice is well covered in the meat oils during the cooking process, which makes it so much more flavorful than typical fried rice. They also add a hefty amount of cheese to the kimchi fried rice, so you have a wonderful combination of spicy and cheesy dish to finish your meal. Service: The servers cook the meats from start to finish unlike many other KBBQ spots. Everyone is nice and friendly! Ambiance: It honestly felt like I went inside a KBBQ restaurant actually in Korea. The interior design and overall vibes made it look like a restaurant in Korea.

Yelp
This restaurant is so large, making it great for large groups. There is a separate section with really long tables to accommodate for parties of 10 per table. Their menu had a bunch of combos and we went with the BPA Combo for 3 people which was a good amount. The galbi was our favorite part but the kimchi fried rice at the end was more kimchi than rice. That was sad. The downside: The service was really slow and it was frustrating for us. It look awhile to get the sides and initial meat. They didn't come back to help us with cooking. We ended up cooking it all ourselves, otherwise the meat probably would've been burnt or we wouldn't have been able to eat. We also never got water refills. This place is definitely understaffed.

Yelp
Really great Korean bbq and soups. Not AYCE but a great menu and selection. Big screen TVs is always a plus. Plenty of parking.

Yelp
Don't go... please ! You will regret on their meet quality. NEVER GO !! This place !!!!!! NEVER!!!!

Yelp
The best part of this place is the banchan - the fish cakes and the potatoes were the stars, but honestly we enjoyed them all and appreciated the free banchan refills. We got the Shilla A Sampler ($90) which included three meats. We chose the beef bulgogi, beef brisket, and the thinly sliced pork. We greatly appreciated that the staff cooked everything for us, but unfortunately the meat dried out quickly after cooking and became chewy. The dipping sauces helped a ton and were delicious but we were underwhelmed with the quality of all three meats for the price. We came on a Friday evening around 5:30 and were seated immediately - i made a reservation on Yelp just in case but didnt need it, as there were plenty of tables open. Parking at that time was easy but the lot was almost full by the time we left around 7. Staff was all very helpful and it seems that all staff help all tables, which means fast and attentive service!

Yelp
The food is very good. Fresh ingredients and tasty soups and grilled meat. The service is awesome very informative and give suggestions for those who are not familiar with Korean food. The bakery is very nice and clean!
google avatar

Henry T.

Yelp
The service was especially on point for us when we visited for late dinner on Saturday. The quality of the beef is great and reasonable prices. The servers will cook for you and they include all the traditional side dishes you would expect for Korean bbq. They also have all the familiar must-have soju brands (Chamisul Original, for us). If you need an easy Korean bbq spot with quality meats served by respectful ajimas I would recommend you give them a visit.
google avatar

Rach K.

Yelp
Their meats are not fresh. Marinaded beef smelled and hard to chew. It wasn't worth of the price I paid for. Combo selections are very expensive.

Liam K.

Yelp
Shilla K BBQ place was great. A variety of meat options that we really enjoyed. Service was friendly and great. I will definitely come back
google avatar

Minnie L.

Yelp
Shilla is where you go when you're looking for an authentic Korean bbq with high quality ingredients. I would say pricing is upscale but you get what you pay for, the service and grade of meat are well worth it. The interior is also lovely. One of my favorite Korean food places when I'm back in LA.
google avatar

Tina T.

Yelp
I love their beef combo with banchans, salad, tofu stew, steamed egg and choice of rice or kimchi fried rice at the end of your meal. The kimchi fried rice at the end of the meal was so delicious and flavorful from all the juices from the grilled meats. The meat quality was good and banchans were home made. I would definitely come back for chill vibes to drink with friends. Also the servers were very sweet and gave homely vibes!
google avatar

Stephanie A.

Yelp
I have come here like 6 times over the years. Years ago the Service was friendly and food combo packages were plenty. I came in today to celebrate my father's birthday and it wasn't as great. My reservation was not honored when my parents checked in. Granted they didn't wait long. Banchans were not provided for each person. I had no kimchee with my meal. I asked for more kimchee and japchae. Waited just to find out I had to order a whole japchae order to have more. I asked for kimchee twice no one brought it. Soybean soup was just a very small cup with the meal. Ice cream for check in was not available. Cheesecake was not available. Hot oolong not available. Maybe they are understaffed but the very limited banchan really made my meal unsatisfying. It's like the staff was being told they could not bring out more banchan for our party of 7. We had 2 small servings of each for the whole table. It was not too much to ask for a little bit more for each person to enjoy their meats with. If the $270 combo package is not enough to include sufficient banchans for a whole table.. raise the price if you must. I was literally just eating meat and sauce the whole time. The meat serving portion was just fine but come on how are you going to limit the sides like we were stuffing our faces with it. I found my father's birthday dinner was not the same as it was a couple of years before ago. Disappointed for sure. But I will say the meat quality is still good if that's all you want to eat all night.
google avatar

Stephanie S.

Yelp
Hot stone grills at Korean BBQ are next level! Shilla is one of the oldest Korean BBQ spots in Gardena, that's serving some high quality meat and other classic Korean dishes. We got one of their beef and pork combos, and the staff even makes you kimchi fried rice at the end that soaks up all the flavor from your grilled meat. They cook everything on a hot stone grill which is so rare to find nowadays! We also tried their beef tartare here which was super tasty, and we also got their fried corvina fish. This place is NOT AYCE and can get a bit pricey. They have their own parking lot too and it's a great place to go to if you're craving KBBQ in Gardena!
google avatar

Marc V.

Yelp
Great service! Great food! The parking is very tight but all in all great place to dine in and eat.
google avatar

Kaitlin D.

Yelp
Came to Gardena only for this spot after seeing them on social media. We got the B-B Beef combo with beef brisket, prime rib sliced, prime marinated boneless galbi, and shilla rib. This also comes with plenty of side dishes, steamed egg, corn cheese, soybean stew, rice, and kimchi fried rice at the end. Amazing service, food was cooked for us and she brought us side dishes that needed refills. Definitely loved it here. Music was good too. Will return with the parents next time.

Sumi S.

Yelp
Great authentic Korean spot. Came with a big group of friends with kids & had the back room all to ourselves. Wait staff is very attentive & friendly. It was all yummy, highlight was pork belly, seafood pancake & kimchi friend rice.
google avatar

Winnie K.

Yelp
Shilla Korean BBQ & Restaurant has all the Korean Classics. They have lunch specials on weekdays. If you have a short lunch break, let them know because it can take awhile to get acknowledged. For the food: The lunch box is bento style plate with a variety of dishes + meat of choice. The banchan, side dishes and spicy pork are all tasty. This is a filling lunch option - had enough leftovers for another meal.
google avatar

Mikey C.

Yelp
We got there around 5 and were the only ones there. That only breaks my "if it's empty, don't eat there" rule. However, we just came back from an overseas trip and were starving for Kbbq that was close by to LAX so we were desperate. The ajimas were super attentive at first. But after we ordered a second round of food, that's when it all went downhill. The BIGGEST STRIKE against them was our second order of LA Galbi was a noticeably worse quality than the first. The first order was amazing, fatty and juicy. The second one tasted horrible. Inconsistency in meat cut/quality is a big no-no for me - especially at these prices. Def not coming back.

Grace P.

Yelp
Premium meats with amazing service! I was ready for the onslaught of bbq smell but they have a great exhaust and didn't leave smelling like kbbq for days!

Yelp
Meh ..... Just Ok. so where to begin. First, check out other reviews and you will see that I tend to post positive reviews because I tend to give small businesses the benefit of the doubt. However, our recent dinner was a complete disappointment. Judging by the 4.1 yelp rating we had high hopes. Boy, were we disappointed. For our family of four we ordered the B-b combo priced at 190 dollars. It is a few types of marinated and non marinated meat. The combo comes with cheese corn, and a cup of soybean stew and steamed egg. Traditionally you are supposed to get the soybean stew in a stone pot and not a small cup for each person so that alone let me know that the restaurant is cutting corners. At the end you also get kimchi fried rice cooked on the grill. We also ordered two small orders of cold noodles at 8 dollars each. The total for the meal and tax and tip was a little over 270 dollars. In a nutshell, we walked out feeling like the meal was not worth it at all. Of the four cuts of meat or so, two were good quality but two were mediocre at best. A high quality cut is fresh and has good marbling and the beef brisket was good along with the non marinated cut. However Some of the other cuts we got felt like leftover trimmings. Fatty and chewy and inconsistent in size and texture. The seasonings were way off as well. Overseasoned seemingly to mask the poor quality. The portion sizes were inadequate as well. As for the cold noodles there was a chemical smell and the noodles were clumped together. In fact it was very similar to instant cold noodles (naengmyun) that you buy from hmart. You know the kind of hmart instant cold noodles pack where you boil the noodles and then you are supposed to rinse the noodle under cold water after boiling. Here, it seemed like the noodles were boiled and drained and then thrown into the cold noodles broth without a rinse and the chemical smell was beyond bad. I've never had such a toxic smell coming for naengmyun before. As for the banchan, good luck asking for a refill of anything. If you ask for refill of kimchi ............ let's just say you may or may not get some. Ultimately it is a competition issue. There is less competition in the South Bay when it comes to Korean bbq and so restaurants such as this fill a need of convenience of not having to go to koreatown. For the price to value to the service it simply was not worth it. I can see how someone who is trying Korean food for the first time enjoying the experience because it is something new and they cook the kimchi fried rice right in front of you. In that type of instance it would be novel and the experience may be worthwhile. Otherwise a hard pass. At almost 70 dollars a person..... there are just too many more options out there.

Yelp
We came in as a party of five and were seated immediately, which was a pleasant surprise given how busy Korean BBQ spots can get. We ordered the B-C set, and it did not disappoint. The quality of the meat was top-notch--tender, flavorful, and cooked to perfection right at our table. The cold noodles were refreshingly delicious and complemented the grilled meats really well. But the standout dish had to be the steamed egg--fluffy, savory, and easily the best I've had at any KBBQ restaurant. The service was equally impressive: attentive, friendly, and efficient without being intrusive. Overall, a fantastic dining experience from start to finish.

Yelp
The food came pretty fast and we were seated almost immediately. I loved how we could get our food cooked for us in front of us and it was pretty good overall. Side dishes are bomb

Yelp
Wonderful dining experience. Picked the BPA combo and do not regret it at all! Tons of meat and great service
