12 Soulful Shabu-Shabu Restaurants in Los Angeles

"One of LA’s more elder statesman shabu-shabu houses, this small restaurant in Gardena prepares some of the most elemental Japanese hotpot in town. There’s a variety of premium meats while insiders know to order some rice at the end to make a delicious porridge from the remaining broth. This is purist shabu-shabu at its finest. The menu is now all-you-can-eat in the evenings, making it all the more enjoyable." - Matthew Kang

Shin-Sen-Gumi 2Go Sansei Mall Review - Gardena - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"Build-your-own ramen is a concept that might sound gimmicky, but at Shin-Sen-Gumi, it really works. The ramen here is among some of the best around. By build-your-own, we don’t just mean you get to throw a few green onions on top. From the thickness of the noodles to the richness of the broth, you can customize your bowl to any degree you want, and that’s the kind of power that keeps people lining up. There are a few locations scattered around the city from Gardena to Downtown LA, but if you’re in the car and in a rush, head to their Western Ave. location where you’ll find a drive-through ramen set-up filled with rich Satsuma ramen, beef curry udon, and pork cutlets over rice." - Kat Hong

Google
Food is really tasty, waiters are friendly and easy-going but the reason why I give just 1 star is the price. You will pay $35 for “eat everything you can” per one person. We weren’t ready for such a price and it was disappointing. So, if you want to have a dinner here with someone else you will pay $75 total which is crazy. You could find way better restaurants for cheaper price and with the same food quality or even better. I would recommend this place just for one time if you are ready to spend $75 in one minute

Google
The food is awesome! They offer a senior discount. Great for large groups. Great for families with children. There are many options for seating. Hot Pot at its best! We always get the spicy soup not to spicy. Creating a balanced meal is a snap vegetable plate, seafood and meats are high quality, and they even have wagu beef. Make sure to try the pepper paste. The service staff are always on point. They will help you order and are happy and pleasant. They will come by and offer service many times just right. They have many special offers throughout the month. Do yourself a favor and try this restaurant! You’ll be glad you did.

Google
Honestly- The place is over priced, and has terrible service. I found it a little bit racist as I saw the waiters pick and choose who they were attentive to. Myself and wife, both African American, and a Hispanic family across from us, received TERRIBLE service. Took forever to get our orders taken, after waiting 45 mins for a table, and they did not check on us once. However, they were extremely attentive to the Asian customers next to us, checked on them several times, all while passing by our table, without any acknowledgment. FOOD- Just okay. Broth and noodles are super cheap to begin with so to charge $40 a person for all you can eat, when you can literally only eat one pot, is outrageous. It also lacks flavor… you have to add a lot of chili pastes and sauces for flavor. Also ordered curry rice & they never brought it out, said it was cooking, never returned. The meats were decent, overall just not good enough to return. Atmosphere is cool. No complaints there. I am surprised by how long the wait time was and how busy this place gets for very mediocre food and service with high prices. I was fooled by all the people waiting outside, but the place is just small so of course on a Saturday night there’s a wait. I will not return.

Google
My current favorite spot for shabu shabu. Quality meat, lots of broth choices, a well rounded veggie tray, and great sauces. It’s a much better experience if you reserve a table in advance.

Google
Great shabu shabu place! It took me 30 mins waiting before getting seated. Food options are ok, and I prefer Mo Mo Paradise if it is shabu shabu. But it is just the face that they are always full, so I tried this one first time. Soup base is good. Overall, good

Google
We ordered all the barbeques and they were so tasty. Services was go amazing, you're always feel welcoming here. A waiter was help us to grill those meat, he wanted to make sure they're perfect for you. Highly recommend and probably come back when we're craving kobe beef

Raymond

Google
The flavors get better the more spices you manually add. The meats are extremely fatty and not worth the price. The employees were helpful and nice.

Google
Intimate, cozy and yet full of friendly staff. I have to admit I was a little intimidated when I first walked in because most of the customers seem to be regulars. My feelings were put at easy by the friendly staff and owner. They took the time to explain their process and teach me how to use the equipment. The meat options are not large but the quality is superb. The meat cuts are excellent and so are their vegetable trays. Their shrimp is cleaned, peeled and without the heads. So, you are actually getting to enjoy your flavors. I have gone to the buffet style shabu shabu restaurants but I have to say this place was better than those. The quality of the food and broths is impressive. The buffet style versions are full of fillers but they give the illusion that you are getting more for your money (lots of fillers). I paid around $30 for myself and that included their basic meats, vegetables and soda. If you ask me, the best $30 in a shabu shabu style restaurant. I will definitely visit again. The restaurant is located in a small shopping center sandwiched between In N Out and Panda Express.

Yelp
For only $35, you get 90 minutes for AYCE shabu shabu! Choices of meat include Angus beef, beef belly, pork shoulder, meatballs, and pork belly. Their Wagyu/Kobe is an additional $10 per plate. The quality of meat is melt-in your-mouth amazing! All of their sauces were tasty, I couldn't pick a favorite. You can also get unlimited amounts of curry rice! The sesame sauce is perfect The service is nice and attentive. The restaurant is kinda small, I wish they can expand bcz this is prolly one of my favorite shabu places!

Yelp
Reservations or not, this place needs to be better at time quotes. Especially when they say guests are given X amount of time to dine. The food on the other hand is no disappointment at all.

Yelp
My brother had recommended Shin-Sen-Gumi Shabu Shabu since he used to live in Torrance. After returning to LAX after an international trip, I decided to finally try it since we would be passing by Gardena on the way home. Parking in the parking lot was plentiful, and since we arrived around 11:50AM (only 20 minutes after opening at 11:30AM, lunch only served on Saturdays and Sundays FYI, but dinner every day), the restaurant only had two other parties dining in. Service was attentive and friendly throughout the meal. As it was our first time here, the servers had to explain how to order everything on the paper slips. The interior was clean and modern, with a mix of counter/bar and table seating. As for the food itself, I did feel like the menu was a bit more limited, even if it were all-you-can-eat. There is no sauce bar, but you can request a base sauce and toppings to add-in. There are only four cuts of unlimited meat included (two pork + two beef), with wagyu beef available for an additional per-plate cost. The curry rice was tasty though, and the veggie plate was adequate. The beef/pork meatballs were not the texture I expected, and were crumbly as opposed to the dense paste I am used to from Asian hotpot meatballs. Overall, the broth and food were tasty, I just am not sure the value was there at this price point ($37.99 + tax as of January 2025). There is a 90-minute time limit for eating in.

Yelp
We got the regular ayce option with tonkotsu & spicy umami broth. The tonkotsu broth was ok, didn't really stand out. The spicy umami broth was better but still wasn't that great. There were only 4 meat options. The meat was also ok, not the melt in your mouth type. The service was horrendous so be aware.

Yelp
I always see a line for this place so decided to make a reservation and try it out! We got their sukiyaki broth and konbu broths. I understand sukiyaki is usually on the sweeter side but this one was really sweet. Konbu didn't really have much taste to it. The meats were really fatty so the broths kept getting greased up... overall decent place to go. All their other items like Vegetable plate, dumplings, fish balls, curry rice were good

Yelp
My favorite shabu place in Gardena by far been coming here for years now and they never ever disappoint . I suggest reservations on the weekends and evenings to avoid a wait but it's never more than 40 min Service was maxing about out to Jake for providing us exceptional service and making pretty awesome suggestions . Will definitely be going back

Yelp

Yelp
The best value! The service is good. Is it a real Shabu-Shabu? Probably not. I don't mind going back because of the quality of food they provide, considering what we pay.

Yelp
Long wait. A little crowded. We pretty much order our own food. Too many add on fees. It's alright. Not a place I would go back to have to put up with all the hassle and definitely not worth the wait time.

Yelp
Terrible service and overpriced. Our orders were constantly forgotten, and we had to call out to them repeatedly. The food wasn't good at all...

Yelp
Having lunch with my sister and niece at Shin-Sen-Gumi Shabu-Shabu AYCE Dining in Gardena. It costs $34.99 per person; children under 3 feet are free; children under 4 feet are $17.50; seniors over 65 are $28.00 (photo ID required). From Miso, Skiyaki, Tonkotsu, Spicy Umami, Dashi, Konbu, and Shoyu Dashi, you select the Broth. Angus beef, beef belly, pork shoulder, and pork belly are the unlimited protein sources. The extras include: Udon, Egg Noodle, Glass Noodle, Shrimp, Dumpling, Tofu, Fish Ball, Fish Ball w/Roe, Lobster Ball, Meatball Mix, and Vegetable Plate. Sesame sauce, Sweet Ponzu, and Original Ponzu are the dipping sauces. White rice and Japanese curry rice are served as sides. We're glad we chose to dine here for lunch today. Definitely will come back again.

Yelp
I've now been here twice. Once for their Japanese bbq and now for shabu. Staff are friendly and attentive. Greeted upon arrival. Not busy at all as I would expect, 12:45pm on a Sunday. Shabu has a menu you select from with ayce. We order and they bring it out pretty quickly. Tonkatsu flavor broth, and some sesame / ponzu dipping sauces. Beef belly is marbled and tasty. Cooks quick! $46 with tip in all. I'd come back if in the area but nothing to go out of my way for.

Yelp
Took my daughter for a post-rehearsal treat. The smell was amazing just as you walk in. I booked on Open table and highly recommended that. We got seated right away when we arrived. We sat at the table tops (like a bar). The service was fast, friendly and attentive. We picked two soups (tonkatsu and Dashi). Favorite sauces included cilantro paste and the yuzu pepper jar, so good. My daughter loved their ponzu, they have a spicy variation too. Our order came fast and the meats were super fresh, as well as the vegetables. I learned from my neighbor sitting next to me that you can also add or order specific vegetable vs the variety bundle. It was my first time trying the mixed meatball paste. OMG sooooo good. Must try. Good ambiance, very lively like most Shen Sen Gumi's. My daughter and I really enjoyed the whole experience!

Yelp
This was my first time visiting shin-sen-gumi's shabu shabu even though it's a local spot! The parking lot is not that big and if it's a busy night could definitely be hard to park. There a a good amount of tables inside and they actually have bar seating which I thought was convenient! We made a reservation for 3 people on a weekday night but it wasn't too crowded! It's an AYCE shabu with a decent variety of meats and you share one pot for the whole table (up to 4 people usually). You have the option to split the broths and pick two from the selection which is nice. We picked the tonkotsu and sukiyaki broth to split. I liked the tonkotsu better because the sukiyaki was a bit on the sweeter side and I enjoy using the sauces like ponzu for dipping the meat. For sauces I got the two different ponzus and the sesame. The sesame sauce was thick which was a little different for me so I stuck with the ponzu and added garlic that the servers brought to us! For the vegetables it's not self serve so you order off the paper sheet and you can either get the vegetable plate or select individuals with other sides like noodles and tofu. I would recommend just picking the individual vegetables, unless you like all the ones offered! I would come back since it is so close and the meats/sauces are tasty! Now I just know what I like and don't like.

Yelp
HUGE SHABU LOVER HERE. First time here ever since moving back to the area, and I'll say it's a great shabu place in gardena area with AYCE options! I thought it was cool that you're able to make your own meatballs. They also have curry rice as apart of AYCE! I got the spicy umami and it was so flavorful, I highly recommend coming here to get your shabu cravings!
google avatar

Fergus M.

Yelp
So almost all my experience with shabu shabu is at a Korean version of shabu in Koreatown. I'll try to minimize comparisons but I'm sure there will be some I cannot avoid. This is a quaint little joint in the hub of ya know, like Gardena. The staff is really friendly and helpful and they check on you at least as much as I needed. On a weekend evening the basic AYCE was 35 dollars, whereas my usual joint on a weekend would be about 55 bucks. Compared to what I'm used to, there isn't a huge selection of broth options or meat options and there is no chicken option. I know most people won't want chicken at shabu, but some people maybe don't eat red meat or are like me, might be trying to eat less fat or red meat sometimes so I think that would be a good option for them to add. My sone got the miso broth which was wonderfully stronger flavored than shabu broth is, and my spicy broth was stronger as well. So we're very happy with the broth. The meat that was available was more per portion than we're used to and they were good. There were dipping sauce options and a very salty and spicy yuzu pepper topping they give you. Honestly not as many options as am used to be what they do have I like. Overall where I usually go costs more, and has more options, but if I'm in Gardena I think it's fair to say this place is as good for the price, and for the better broth here. Recommended and I would def go back to this place when in Gardena!

Yelp
Shabu Shabu is my favorite, so I was excited to try this place out after hearing good things about it. We made a reservation online the day before. It required putting a credit card down, and they charge $10 per person for no shows. They also do senior discounts (65+) & discounts for kids under 4 feet. We ordered both beefs and pork. We also tried the wagyu! It is all you can eat, so make sure to come with an appetite! I thought the meats were all good, but I wish the vegetables were better. We all got only the core pieces of nappa. In comparison to other shabu places in the area, I thought the meats were pretty good. I think other restaurants have more variety for vegetables but overall, not bad. The service here is great. This place is not self-serve like other shabu places, and servers bring all items out for you. Our waitresses were all sweet & helpful, and brought our things out quickly. Kody is also a great manager!

Yelp
Always a pleasure eating at any of the Shin-Sen-Gumi restaurants. They offer a great selection of, the sauces are on point and when you leave, you leave happy.

Azucena O.

Yelp
Service here was awful. Got to the place a couple of minutes after them opening so it would be understandable if they took a little longer than usual to attend us. We got sat down right away but waited 20 min for them to get our order after that people that got in after we did, got our food before us. When I asked server if she knew how much longer it would take for our food to come out she said soon then walked over to another worker and whispered something in his ear and he looked over our way and the girl gave a mean look to us. Made us feel uncomfortable to even eat there anymore.
google avatar

Melissa L.

Yelp
I really wanted to love this place because I'd heard such great things about it. Overall the food was good, service was as great, nothing bad happened but it just wasn't one of those "omg I need to go back places". I'll definitely go again if the group wants to go. Went as a party of 2 and got the tonkotsu base. I will say that the tonkotsu base here was one of my favorites in comparison to other Shabu places. Meat quality was good. Everything tasted delicious but I feel like there's other places that you could go to that are the same or better quality. Nothing stood out and made me think I could only get this here. I would recommend to people but it just wasn't my favorite. Like I said, I really wanted to love this place because people rave about it.
google avatar

Darien V.

Yelp
Honestly the service was really bad, the workers were not attentive and us being new comers, they did not explain us how to work anything, because of that, my broth got too hot and spilled all over. The prices do not show on anything and it was super overpriced for how plain the food tasted. Would not recommend as there are better tasting and cheaper options in Gardena.

Gabriel C.

Yelp
Good food, slow service. Offers discounts for students, need an ID to show that you are a student. Trying to get more meat could be a hassle, but the quality is good. Try to go during off-hours so that you can get more attention so that you can keep eating without interruptions or delays.
google avatar

Diana H.

Yelp
Came here for the first time and I was really impressed with their shabu. You can't go wrong with AYCE. Service was great, meats were delicious, and price is reasonable. Only thing to keep in mind is that since it's a small restaurant, be prepared to wait. Other than that, definitely recommend.
google avatar

Khoa D.

Yelp
I had a disappointing experience at this establishment. I joined the waitlist in which I was the only one waiting, expecting it to be less than 5 minutes. However after adding my name, I noticed plenty of available seats when I went to use the restroom, yet I still had to wait for 20+ minutes. Meanwhile, they seated three other parties who arrived after me. Frustrated, I decided to have a burger at In-N-Out Burger next door. As an elite yelper, I must say that I cannot recommend this place. The wait was unnecessary, especially since I was starving and the only one waiting to be seated for food. Instead, I suggest spending your time and money at a Chubby Cattle location, where they offer much better quality wagyu beef and provide excellent and attentive service to their customers.
google avatar

Ane C.

Yelp
Okay where do I even begin. This is my brother's and I go to place for yummy comforting and quick Shabu Shabu. It can get packed so plan accordingly. The service is ways friendly and fast. The place is clean and the quality of the broth, beef, and veggies is always on point.

Kat K.

Yelp
First time here and I was not disappointed But I brought in my own sukiyaki sauce and it make a big difference. I had shabu shabu before but at Cerritos Wo my own sauce and I didn't like it much. This place have good customer service. It very small , we didn't get to sit regular seat table but on the stool seat instead wasn't the most comfortable but it was okay Check this place out if your in the Gardena area guys
google avatar

Iris J C.

Yelp
The broths were delicious and the meat options were good! I especially liked the beef belly! We made a reservation for 3 people at 8 on a Sunday but we didn't seem to need it as it wasn't too busy.
google avatar

Matt P.

Yelp
Awesome local spot with a variety of shabu shabu top ingredients. This is one of our favorite spots in LA and a must for a true shabu shabu experience. We always choose the sukiyaki and spicy miso for our broth. The spicy miso is not too spicy but you have your options for extra spice on the side to include chili paste and yuzu pepper. For meat, you have to get the Waygu. It's a little extra and worth it. The angus chuck is also really good and has a good fat to meat ratio. The pork/beef meatball is pretty good as well. It's best to spoon out in chunks so it cooks like a true meatball rather than just throwing it all in. We highly recommend this place and always enjoy coming back. Great atmosphere and service
google avatar

Kody N.

Yelp
The food was quite good. I ordered the spicy umami broth, their most popular soup base and it tasted quite nice but was not that spicy. I wasn't a big fan of the egg noodles but everything I ate was fine. It's a very casual setting but it did get VERY loud because of a table behind us to the point where it made me want to leave. I probably wouldn't come back because of how slow the service was. It took forever to get our orders in, they forgot several parts of our order, and it seemed like didn't care to serve their guests. When you pay the bill, you can't choose how much to tip either. The minimum is at least 18% and you can't choose otherwise.

Yelp
The food is alright. I ordered it to go, it wasn't the best but it was edible. The portions were good, but again nothing to write home about.

Yelp
Second time coming here. Service was great, meat is fresh & the ambiance is nice & lowkey. They have amble bar seating & about 6 large tables . I recommend the spicy umami broth & Waygu/ Kobe sampler !

Yelp
Although I've eaten here a number of times in the last decade; this was my first visit back in years. This restaurant used to serve both shabu and self-cooked charcoal BBQ for set prices per plate of meat but now is AYCE shabu shabu. While the loss of BBQ is regrettable, the shift to AYCE has made the shabu shabu a much better value than before. While not cheap, the current STARTING price as of this review of $32.99 per person is also not outrageous as food itself is just more expensive nowadays; and honestly, from what I recall from my visits circa 2012, their NON AYCE shabu shabu meals were already priced in the mid $20 range so given time and inflation--I think the current price is fair (but still puts them in my "once in a while treat" category). So for 90 minutes of AYCE (time starts once you get your food and pot), this feels fair--especially as many other AYCE places only give you 1 hour. All that aside, here are the Pros and Cons of this place. Pros: - The AYCE meat is sliced fresh and delicious - You have a choice of 6 different broths, you are sure to find one to your liking - At the bar, everyone has their own pot. At a table, you have the option for a dual-split (but larger) pot for everyone to share so if part of a group, you are basically guaranteed the choice of 2 broths - the fish balls, shrimp balls, and meat balls are excellent - Frozen dumplings are an option - Shrimp are an option - Curry rice is an unlimited option (though filling up on rice means you eat less meat) - The staff is super friendly and helpful Cons: - Choices of "turf" meats is limiting at only 4 (does not include lamb or chicken) - Premium cuts of meat are extra (and unclear if the prices is per order or an "upgrade" for unlimited plates) - Although tasty, the variety of meat balls is a bit limiting - Shrimp and shrimp balls are the only seafood options (so no scallops or other shellfish) - The staff is usually very busy so you will more often than not need to flag them down - Desserts are not included in AYCE - The wait can be very long and unpredictable Tip: Normally I hate going to a restaurant near closing as I hate doing that to staff wanting to close--but here, as long as you have been seated prior to "closing," they will still give you your 90 minutes of AYCE. I feel like their closing time "seems" early because that is in fact last seating. Meaning they intend to stay open til 11 or so but can't say that because they will not be taking new parties after 930. So put your name on the waitlist asap and be there in person. I would probably skip this place if the waitlist is too long but if your near "closing" time, just be aware that's actually last seating. It doesn't mean they will short change your AYCE time.

Yelp
SIMPLE & DELICIOUS: I recently tried this shabu spot mainly because of it being a part of the Shin-Sen-Gumi group and how great my experiences at all other restaurants within the group. This spot measures up with the rest. Great, fast service, delicious food, especially the sauces, and clean! I'll definitely be back! TIP: They have a discount on premium meats on the 29th of every month.

Yelp
Came here twice and the food was good each time. For the first time, we tried items on the lunch menu (ie udon + mini yakatori & yakatori combo). Love the food with the slight hint of charcoal grill and the lunch special came with a drink. The second time, we tried the goma spinach, ultimate curry udon, and hakata ramen. All were very flavorful. The service was good both times, but we got more attention the first time as the place wasn't as busy. It ambiance was just as expected. There were Japanese art on the wall. The place looked spacious and had high ceilings. Would definitely come back again to try other items on the menu.

Yelp
Loved the food and the staff! We have lucked out, as we've been able to walk in and get seated every time. Highly recommend this AYCE place.

Yelp
Normally the service isn't too bad here. Except for my most recent trip. After waiting over an hour an a half. I was skipped three times on the waitlist, considering the party sizes were basically the same and none of the parties before me had a reservation. I was pretty annoyed. After ordering. I received two wrong items. No sauce, no food, and no water. All of which I had to ask for again after waiting several minutes to see if they would have noticed. Since I was sat at the bar in front of the rice maker, I noticed they weren't even making a new batch until I asked. After completely eating and drank my glass to the bottom, I waited for any type of service to come by and check on me. Several minutes later, still nothing. No "how was the meal", no "would you like to order more", or even a "would you like the check". By this point over I'm over it.

Yelp
We were craving some shabu shabu and this place had the least amount of wait time so decided to try it out. Seemed like they were rushed and scrambling a bit since it was nearing closing time and we had to get our meat in since it was AYCE! They were friendly though and didn't question anything even on our last order when it was past closing time. Broths we got in our split pot: Tonkatsu (3): Decent viscosity to it but flavor was a little weak. After a couple rounds of meat it was better. Spicy Umami (4): This was pretty good from the beginning. Nice little kick to it which went well with anything we put in there. Add Ons we tried: Fish ball w Roe (3): roe had good flavor, but only get this if you really like roe. The fish ball was pretty standard tasting. Tofu (4): Soaked up the juices well. Careful, it also retains heat really well too. Egg Noodle (4): My favorite. We got numerous orders of this. Glass Noodle (4): Wifes favorite. Again, numerous orders which went well with the meat. Ponzu Sauce (3): Pretty standard, but must get to make your personal bowl extra tasty. Sesame Sauce (4): Thick and creamy. Also a must get to add to your bowl. Veggie Plate (4): pleasantly surprised. Veggies were refreshing and added some nice texture and flavors. Meats: Angus Beef (4): Pretty good quality. Went well with everything. Pork Shoulder (4): The texture was really nice with this one. Pork Belly (3): The quality was decent but I think we prefer to grill this vs. hot pot it. Beef Belly (4): This was also fatty but the flavor was pretty good. The fat soaked up the flavors well. Overall we had a good meal but it was pricey. The sake we tried was just okay and didn't really feel it was worth it. Quality and service was decent though so we'll likely keep this on the list for future cravings.

Yelp
We came around 5:30 and it was the perfect time because it wasn't packed. The yuzu highball was the best yuzu cocktail I've ever had.. I gasped because it was so good and it actually gets you buzzed at the end. Can not stop thinking about how refreshing and light it was. I hate sugary drinks and this yuzu highball was not sugary! The sukiyaki broth was amazing and tonkatsu broth was delicious as well. I loved their customer service and the meat was high quality and delicious!! The servers were so nice and kept coming around to check on us. The yuzu hot sauce was AMAZING and so unique. I've never seen a shabu place give out yuzu hot sauce. Definitely a memorable touch. I loved their ponzu sauce and their veggies were fresh. Oh and they give you a super delicious curry on rice as part of the AYCE. The AYCE prices are very reasonable given all the amazing food that comes with it. I loved this place. Would definitely come back soon!

Yelp
This place is absolutely delicious and is good to come with kids. They take care of them and understand they don't eat (3 year old).

Yelp
My boyfriend and I went here for Valentine's Day because we were craving something warm due to the crazy wind in LA haha! I saw that this place had good reviews and it was nearby where we were staying. We had a reservation at 9 which is their last call since they close at 9:30. You get to mark down the dishes you want on the paper and I find that so convenient because when a waiter comes, you just hand it to them. Spicy Sukiyaki 9/10, the seaweed flakes and paste came separately so I just threw it in there. It was flavorful, not too spicy and I would get it again. Tonkatsu 8/10, thick and tasted how it should. Great customer service, there was a good amount of everything that was asked and I noticed that the meat ball is in a wooden tool that you can use to push out which is my first time seeing!

Yelp
Love this spot! We went from eating at Momo to consistently eating at Shin-Sen-Gumi. We love getting seated at the bar, service seems to be a lot better there. They do need to step up their customer service game. Sometimes it takes awhile for servers to come by to grab your new order. Aside from the service, food comes out pretty quick, we love getting the tonkotsu broth and getting the spicy miso paste and missing it. Don't forget the heat drops if you like spicy! I also love that they allow you to customize your vegetables and noodles so you don't waste anything. I believe the pricing is $32.99 per person. For protein they have pork options and beef options. You also have the ability to order some fish balls, tofu, etc. Just reviewing them is making my mouth water!

Yelp
Very good menu and delicious food! The service was great. We sat at the bar so we had our own hot pot each and it was a great experience. Will be going back!

Yelp
The food is good, the meat is good. There is not much to say, other than it's good and that I would come back. However, this place is so popular, and the space is so small, that it's hard for this restaurant to accommodate all parties that want to dine at the same time. Typically, you don't just eat and leave at shabu. You eat and linger and catch up with your friends, so the wait can be very frustrating even if you're on the waitlist. They could use a bigger space, honestly, or a time limit. Parking: easy Price: meh.

Yelp
We last ate here pre-pandemic. A lot has changed! We were planning to partake of the hibachi menu. That no longer exists. Now, it is AYCE shabu shabu. The shabu shabu menu is also different. Now, you have a choice of several broths. You can order more meat and sides once you finish each set that was previously ordered. The food was delicious and the place was packed! Glad to see that they survived the pandemic. We arrived at 5:30 and there was on other party. However, it started to get full at 6-6:30. When we left at 7:30, all seats were full and people were waiting outside.
