Shin Yeh Shiao Ju

"A sister concept spun off from the household brand, it caters to small groups and families with a menu designed for sharing, and champions low-fat and low-sodium Taiwanese cooking. Signatures such as stir-fried thousand-year eggs with green chillies, and omelette with angled luffa and dried scallops are original recipes not found elsewhere. The airy and elegant space is bathed in daylight and adorned with wood and neutral greys." - Michelin Inspector

The 38 Best Restaurants in Taipei | Eater

"While Shin Yeh has locations all throughout Taipei, this one has the best view in town, from the 85th floor of Taipei 101 — the tallest building on the island (and the tallest building in the world until 2010). It’s a grand space with crystal chandeliers and white tablecloths, yet the food is approachable. Think squid, deep-fried oysters, lots of lobster, and heaps of abalone. [$$$]" - Clarissa Wei

I flew back to Taiwan to have a proper Taiwanese meal with my family before Lunar New Year ended. I would highly recommend making an early reservation as it’s always full house due to the office buildings and exhibition centres being located within 5-10 mins walking distance. As I didn’t make any reservation and walked in during lunchtime, we waited nearly 30 mins to be seated. Three of us ordered a two-pax lunch set meal and an extra vegan soup and dessert. It’s way too much for us, and we need to take it away. All the dishes were relatively excellent and appealing, but the pork was served too slowly, and we almost forgot about it. Identical to the dessert, I have to go over to the waitress to inform them that we have finished the meal and please serve the dessert. The green tea is nicely brewed, but the best is still the vegan soup. The handicapped toilet is on maintenance, and most of the tools are stored in the lady’s room; a waiter came into the lady’s room without knocking, and I was deeply disturbed. All the all, if you are just talking about the food and people who stand at the counters, they are high quality, trained and well cooked. But the rest of the staff seems not experienced. It’s a good try.

I finally had the opportunity to enjoy my favorite bamboo-smoked chicken in Taiwan. The chicken was incredibly tender and bursting with flavor. Another standout was the pan-fried pig liver, which was so delicious that I couldn't resist having more. Achieving the perfect doneness was essential to preserve the juiciness of the liver. On the other hand, the claypot-cooked oyster with tofu was a bit lacking in umami flavor and tasted somewhat bland. The stewed white cabbage was excellent but could have used a touch more salt. The steamed fish was decent but lacked seasoning, and a spicier sauce could have elevated it to perfection. We wrapped up the meal with a traditional and authentic serving of fried vermicelli, or bee hoon, which was incredibly satisfying. The key to this dish was the perfect flavor and springiness of the vermicelli. It was a delightful lunch with my business associates, finally indulging in properly cooked Taiwanese cuisine!

Nice place with good vegetarian option. Good food quality and taste. There is a game (if you are in a group)-buy Red bean ice cream (the one pyramid shape in the pictures I uploaded).Everyone should take the ice cream in their bowl, the person who makes it fall, will have to pay for the ice cream next time... kinda funny, but nice :) I hope you enjoy your meal here.

Great place for business lunch. Private rooms available. We ate family style in a room that held 13 people. Good service and delicious food.

It maintains its original quality. The dishes were salty. Not sure how. This restaurant serves mainly to business lunch. Not sure how it survives without the dinner guests.

a nice place for dinning. The price is about ~350 ntd per dish. The service is fine -- a bit too rush though. The foods are good.

Good food though the actual food has shrunken comparing to picture. Services is good. Low points goes to the cashier, few minutes after desert served cashier showed up and asked us to pay and leave due to next group of reservation arrived. We spent more than 5K for dinner and the cashier lady pulled the long face even dinner was not fully done.
