The Best Chinese Food in Richmond, British Columbia | Eater Seattle

"This northern Chinese restaurant specializes in all things lamb, including lamb dumplings, skewers, chops, stir-fries, and pot-stewed lamb head. But the best part might be the availability of breakfast (starting at 8 a.m.), in which diners can get the namesake lamb soup, with or without noodles, and with a choice of lamb meat including pluck — an array of organ meats. The soup pairs well with any of the six types of shaobing (layered flatbreads, some stuffed and some not) on offer." - Jay Friedman

Totally out of expectation! The lamb noodles is very tasty. You can tell the spinach dumplings are freshly made. Will definitely go back to try other dishes.

Tried Shine Valley Lamb Soup and it was better than I expected! The lamb soup was light yet full of flavor—not overly seasoned, which I really appreciated. We both loved the lamb shaomai—juicy with great seasoning. However, the cold noodles were just okay, not very memorable. Overall, a pleasant surprise and worth a visit for the soup and shaomai alone!

Lamb is tasty. Love their lamb soup and potato dish. Have followed them here to their new location from Garden City. Some changes but food still good! Their signature bing is very good. Filling is tasty.

The lamb soup is a must get - I’d say stick to the lamb meat version. I’d say they could add more cabbage in there. There is descent amount of meat in the soup. What I like about the soup is it’s not too salty so you can adjust that yourself later. The pancakes included with the soup is okay - the sesame paste version doesn’t have a strong sesame paste flavor, but the green onion and ham version is descent. The soup noodle version of the lamb soup is okay - noodle is not home made and it’s a bit too soft for my liking. It also lacks flavors. Lamb skewers are also pretty good, give it a try. The lamb racks aren’t as easy to eat as lamb skewers so I’d only try that for novelty reasons. The meat burger (肉夹馍)is good - juicy meat, good bun and green pepper is included unlike Old Xi’an. You’d think green pepper is an okay topping, but it really adds to the complexity of the flavor profile. You could get a membership for $99 which get you unlimited lamb soup (with the pancake or noodle) EVERYDAY. If you like lamb, go for it. They also give you free beer (24 bottles) or other beverage equivalents. You also get 20% off. Descent plan if you like lamb. Overall, the food is descent, worth a try. Parking is fairly easy to find if you park on TD side. Service level can vary given the server, but over all, if you wave they come. Price wise, it’s right in the middle of the pack.

A little pricey for the quantity you get. The Chinese burger is delightful and the meat is very tender and flavourful.

Truly authentic cuisine. If you are a lamb lover, here’s the place. Highly recommend Lamb shaomai, lamb flank, and lamb soup. (I would recommend more if we order more kinds) The owner is friendly and hospitality. Wish this place could keep its great quality. Much appreciated. Why I posted only one picture? I was working on the lamb, I couldn’t stop.

Very disappointing experience. The food is no longer as good as it used to be. We ordered the same kind of sesame flatbread and waited for over an hour—it never came. Every time we asked, the staff told us it would be ready “in five minutes,” but we ended up waiting over 30 more minutes. Meanwhile, other tables who arrived after us were served much earlier. We had already finished all the other dishes and eventually had no choice but to cancel the flatbread. To make things worse, they insisted we ordered late which is not true and still asked for a tip. Honestly, with missed up orders and this level of service, how could you expect one?
