"Named for the famed Tokyo train station, Shinjuku is a Japanese izakaya that serves drinks and small plates. You can find sushi here (along with a ton of other delicious things), but this place is anything but traditional, and their charming and spacious back patio may make you think you’ve wandered onto a Wes Anderson set. Sip some sake and take your time ordering a few small as you go. Just make sure the sake-steamed black mussels, tok fries, and beer-braised pork buns are in the mix." - Emily Smith

FOOD IG: @northtx.gemz 🍒WHAT THEY’RE KNOWN FOR: cute little Japanese food restaurant offering authentic eats on magnolia street. 🍒WHAT WE ORDERED: • Spider Roll • Chicken Karaage • Beer Braised Pork Buns • Garlic Rub Albacore Sushi • Shiro Maguro (white tuna) Nigiri • Okonomiyaki 🍒 PRICE: ~$70 + tip 🍒 THE VIBE: super casual, intimate and kind of indie hipster vibes. 🍒 WOULD I COME BACK? Maybe. •••• Overall Rating: 8.5/10 - Another sushi spot to try on your list! If you like very authentic sushi (literally they don’t put avocado, cream cheese, or any heavy sauces in any of their sushi or dishes) this is the place for you! - The spider roll was immaculate I liked it a lot. I liked the freshness of the garlic rub albacore, but I think I would stick to salmon or tuna next time. I loved the white tuna nigiri it was so fresh! - The most unique thing I had was the okonomiyaki which is basically a fried sushi-like pizza? It had a lot of flavor and honestly wish I didn’t order the chicken karaage (not good to me) so I could enjoy the pizza more (since they were both fried it was a lot together). - The pork belly buns were very good too but honestly you could skip on that. Overall, they pay attention to the prep of food and it’s a pretty solid place! I only said maybe I would come back only because I like super cute places and this was a definitely casual, hipster place so it’s personal preference. Service was AMAZING btw. Everyone is so nice and made the experience very enjoyable.

We’ve been wanting to try this place for some time and finally did realizing we hadn’t missed out on much. They state no heavy sauces, avocado etc but they either need that or some salt. The miso ramen had barely any flavor outside of the pork belly. The spicy ramen wasn’t that spicy but had good flavor. They both had a good amount noodle/broth in them. The onigiri were huge which made it difficult to eat but husband really liked them. Great customer service but food was just ok compared to a hanabi ramen or blue sushi.

Google
The food here was amazing!!! The fry portion was amazing and my favorite thing. Everything was fresh and good sized portions. We definitely ordered too much food but so affordable and worth it. I’ll be back definitely. (Must have the tok fries)

Google
Tam had literally the BEST customer service, so genuine, kind and also on point. I felt soo lucky to have her as our server… I can not stress that enough, individuals like that are great for business. If I went back here I would want Tam as my server only. As for the menu, I am vegetarian and there was a vegan menu as well as vegetarian menu available which was so awesome! The fries did not have enough of that awesome dipping sauce, they should serve double that sauce. The edamame was okay. A lot of grease and oil between the fries and edamame, it was too much. Definitely my favorite vegetarian sushi I have ever had, it was not bland at all. The reason why I am giving 3 stars is because the atmosphere was not worth the price and with an ankle/foot injury it was not clear what so ever where the entrance was, after driving around the building twice I finally found parking but could not seem to find the front door. Once I did get to the front door it was locked with a sign saying the entrance has been relocated to the back, which was too much for my foot injury. By the time I was able to finally get a reservation after an hour wait and then finding the entrance-way, customers were flooding out and the door did not close by itself every time someone left, the door stayed open while we waited to be seated, so kindly I kept closing the door to keep the cold air from coming in. We arrived around 8:15p and felt like all the employees were pushing us out promptly at 10p, which is closing time. The only employee that did not seem rushed was our server. I am not sure why y’all close so early on a Saturday but if you close at 10p it should be a soft close, not all the kitchen and staff ready to go, a hard close, changes the whole experience and did not set well with me. I will not be coming back to this location as it was too pricey all in all for the ambiance, this restaurant in my opinion could only work in this city because there isn’t much competition to choose from. Hope that this critical review can help, I am just very honest with my opinion. With love!

Google
Great and friendly service, excellent sushi & nigiri. Not shy with the fish portions either, which was surprising and refreshing. Recommend 100%. They offered a diverse menu if sushi is not everyone in your party’s speed. Ramen and bento selections too.

Google
Great date night spot! Always fresh, extremely flavorful. We have ordered the majority of the menu and have yet to be dissatisfied with anything we’ve tried! The staff is friendly and helpful with the menu if you have not dined there before. It’s best to make a reservation on weekends because of the popularity of this place! Hope you try it and enjoy the food and atmosphere. Pro Tip: Happy hour is off the chain and a great way to try out this spot for the first time! Just get there before 6:30. The ‘Shinjukurita’ is amazing. Gotta try the Tok Fries too!

Google
Alrighty. Came here on Friday just in time for their happy hour. We got the sake salmon, Tok fries, beer braised pork buns, okonomiyaki, and chicken karaage. The sake salmon was simple but good. A good salmon to rice ratio is always appreciated. The Tok Fries was very large. Definitely this can be shared between 3-4 people. The chili mayo and furikake seasoning was a pretty unique way of eating fries. The beer braised pork buns were by far my favorite item of the evening. The pork was very juicy, flavorful, and tender. It has a good amount of fat that melted with each bite. The bun was there to absorb the fat. Delicious and highly recommended. The chicken karaage was average. I thought it usually came with a lemon but ours didn't. Lastly the okonomiyaki. I did not really like this item. It just wasn't for me. The sauce and everything made it very filling and difficult for me to enjoy. Overall, it was a good experience. I enjoyed the food and the atmosphere.

Google
Loved our time at Shinjuku. Definitely get reservations because there were limited tables. The pork buns were fabulous. The takoyaki (octopus fritters) melted in my mouth. Sushi was great. The old fashioned was a little sweet for my taste but house saki was just what I needed.

Ramiro R.

Yelp
I can't type fast enough how delicious this food was. I'd been looking for a good izakaya style Japanese restaurant and I was super excited to find this. The dining area made me feel like I was truly in Shinjuku, Tokyo. The warm sake was flowing, the miso soup was super tasty! But I cannot sing the praises enough for the wild mushrooms!!! I should've gotten two (2) more plates. I will need to come back earlier next time as some of the food options weren't available that late. I will tell y'all one thing, the ishiyaki is on hot coal and it smokes out the entire restaurant, no ventilation. So it can be a lot if you have breathing issues. And you will absolutely smell of it when you leave. All in all. Will 100% be back to have my many plates of wild mushroom. このレストランはとてもおいしいよ!いただきます!

Yelp
We came here for a sushi dinner since we were told it's one of the better options in Ft. Worth. We sat at the sushi bar and we had a reservation, which was great cause we were sat right away. The service was very attentive, and the sushi wasn't bad but we eat so much sushi back home that again, this is prob the better choice in Ft. Worth. We started off with the takoyaki appetizer. We got a couple rolls and some nigiri. My favorites were the nigiri, but even fish choices were limited. Overall, kudos to them for great service.

Yelp
Top quality that is approachable, not pretentious, and doesn't break the bank. A great curation of Japanese "tapas". I would highly recommend calling to schedule a reservation; the place is intimate, in a relieving way. You trust them to have "just enough" on hand since quality is key and microwaving yesterday's leftovers is out of the question. Don't depend on just walking up (it's possible, but why chance it?) What did four of us share and sample? - Oven roasted mushrooms (not pictured) - Crab & corn Korroke - Kanpachi ceviche - Red miso soup - Steamed edamame (not pictured) - Ishiyaki (hot stone steak, not pictured) - Pork buns (not pictured) - Various sushi and sashimi (Anago eel sashimi, Spider roll, Garlic Rub Albacore roll) Drinks: - Negroni (special) - Dreaming Tokyo - Black Lotus Espressot-tini (not pictured) - Shiro-Shoyu Old Fashion (not pictured) - Kawabata Japanese Pale Ale (bottle, not pictured) - Hitachino White Pale Ale (bottle, not pictured) - False Bay Rosé (not pictured) I recommend coming not expecting to be able to order anything with consistency, and be adventurous and order whatever they have curated for you for that dining experience. Fresh ingredients drives a creative menu, and for this type of experience, you can't ask for better than that.

Yelp
A series of poetic review updates... 1 of 1: Shinjuku Station Mushrooms, buttered and basted 'til brown. Squeezed citrus and zest all wrapped neat in a pouch. Over the fire they bubble and bake, Lasting mere seconds once set on your plate! Fish flown in fresh with soft velvet flesh, Seared or rolled or sliced clean. All produce bites crisp and the Hamachi Garlic Zest Is the sushi roll of my dreams! Stir-fried edamame and hot bowls of ramen, Craft cocktails and small plates to share. An intimate setting where the experience you're getting Is better than most anywhere.

Yelp
Went for their Happy Hour (HH) and boy was so many things such a value! I loved the interior! All the plates were unique for each dish. I LOVE the frys, they are thick, crispy and the two sauces pair fantastically with it. $4 hh price PORK GYOZA was very basic, very pricey for 5 pieces ~$9. do not recommend. CHICKEN KARAAGE fairly decent, not my type of sweetness, I would personally have preferred dipping it Bao Buns were good. The Happy hour rolls were more tough then I would like with their seaweed, pretty small. Overall, its a good time and going all out for their Happy Hour is going to do you well. I have been wanting to come here for years and glad I got the chance to eat all this and the tab was not too bad for 2!

Yelp
I got lucky and was able to walk in without a reservation and got seated right away. However, i don't think i went during peak hours. I actually came here to check out happy hour, which runs from M-F 3-6PM. Honestly the happy hour at this place is decent! we got the tok fries, takoyaki, 3 rolls (better than a cali roll, salmon, and yellow tail), foie gras nigiri and two drinks (shinjuku-rita and a aperol spritz). It was a lot of food for two people, and the prices are extremely reasonable. I think the above cost around 65 bucks, but a good amount was due to the foie gras sushi which was 22 bucks for 2 pieces. If we didn't get that, it would've been like 40 bucks or so. normally, i don't like Furikake... but paired with the fries and sauce, it was really damn good. I would definitely get the tok fries again. great appetizer! The takoyaki was good, but not sure if i'd get it again. As for the sushi, everything was fresh and tasty. for the classic rolls, they will come with 6 pieces, but the "better than a cali-roll" will come with 8 pieces. The best item of the night was the foie gras nigiri. it was melt in your mouth delicious. it was paired with some sweet sauce to balance out the fat. I could eat foie gras all day, if it wasn't just so expensive. Parking was difficult as buildings in the surrounding areas were being renovated. We had to park in a random neighborhood and walk like 1-2 blocks to the place.

Yelp
Eek, what happened to this place! The reviews we read that brought us here seemed to be for some other business than they one we experienced. This was one of those nights that started off hopeful and took a series of dark turns resulting in a "we can't wait to get out of this place" experience. We made a last minute reservation, which put is in at 8:45. Atmosphere is super cool and transporting. We had a short conversation about how we felt we could have been in San Fran or some coastal cafe in New England. We came for Sushi, but the server announced that Shinjuku Station is a Tapas restaurant. Tapas Sushi? Undaunted, we ordered a bunch of rolls and Sushimis. Cocktails were good, though they took some time to come out. At 9:45 we still had not received our food and the server announced that it was "last call" for food orders cuz the chef stops at 10. How were we supposed to decide, since we did not have any food yet? And they stop making food at 10pm on Friday night on Magnolia? The place was packed! What ensued was a frustrating series of interactions that suggested that the Sushi chef here is an arrogant, condescending prima donna. And, if you've read my other reviews you know I am not a name caller. This guy is seriously going to run this business into the ground if he can't get his customer service game on. He was rude to my date and the servers talk about him like he does what he wants and they and customers just have to deal with it. Ew. When the food started coming out, it was the tiniest sushi I've ever seen. No way were we going to be satisfied. And by then it was too late to order more. My friend does not take this kind of thing well and made enough of a complaint that we were comped much of our food. We left still hungry and walked down to Yucatan Tacos to order nachos. On the way we met a couple walking out who had a similar experience. Yuck!

Alice L.

Yelp
Server was attentive & had great recommendations. Surprisingly, my favorites were the swiss chard (fresh without being bitter) & wild mushrooms. I mixed the sauces with a bowl of rice & was pretty content scarfing that down. My next favorite was the hama chili (another server recommendation). The fish was sliced perfectly thin & had a slight kick from the chili. The only disappointment was that they ran out of the matcha panna cotta dessert. Parking is a bit scarce due to construction & go to the back of the building for the entrance.

Yelp
At the Eastern-Most end of Magnolia, lies a hidden gem of Japanese cuisine. Influenced by the Shinjuku area of Tokyo, Japan, the Shinjuku Station team are playing ONLY the GREATEST hits - and ALWAYS remaining on pointe! SERVICE | 9.5/10 I feel like this is worth mentioning first. Our server was super friendly! He provided tons of great recommendations and was very personable! The team also served up the dishes pretty quickly. Fantastic job! Beer Braised Pork Belly Buns | 9/10 Wow - what a way to begin! Soft, doughy buns wrapped a well-seasoned pork belly with tangy sauce & pickles that balance out the flavoring. Epitome of a great bao bun! Big Eye Tuna (Roll, 6 ct.) | 8/10 The tuna was nice & fresh! A tad bit of soy, wasabi, & ginger make this Japanese staple standout even more! Hamachi Zest Garlic Roll | 8.75/10 Wow! Very flavorful. This is definitely a standout of the menu for sure. The crunchy zest / garlic flavor the hamachi sushi so well. Perfectly wrapped, this roll is how to do specialty rolls right! Hamachi Yuzu Roll | 9.3/10 Now this - this is what it means to go after standout flavors! The "Japanese mint-basil type of herb" is sprinkled upon a magical sauce and served alongside the roll. The roll itself reminded me of the big eye tuna - just, with better flavoring & design. This flavor combo is unique & I'd definitely recommend trying it if you're into unique and/or strong tastes! Matcha Panna Cotta | 8.7/10 Creamy to the max! With a blueberry jam melted over the top, the panna cotta boasts a simple yet slightly bold flavor of this special dessert. It's like a creamy, dreamy pudding with tones of fruit & matcha! SO SO glad to have found this chill & tasty spot! Check it out! It's so cool!

Susan L.

Yelp
I dream of this restaurant. This sushi is so fresh, so beautiful, so delicious. These folks really know how to choose and present a fish! When I'm not in FW, I really miss you, Shinjuku Station!

Elaine M.

Yelp
Amazing experience for lunch and a lot of fun. First off, the host gave my kiddos origami paper and instructional and that won my kids over. They made their own creations while waiting for the food. We were in the area for lunch and were delighted to find there is a different lunch menu than the dinner menu! Wah! You need to scan QR code to see it after you are seated. Of course I got the healthy bento. Boy it was filling and had just a little bit of everything. I was filled but not overstuffed. The sashimi was just the right temperature and melted in your mouth. Surprisingly both my kiddos got the salmon sashimi rice bowls which I forgot to take a pic. Comes with salmon, salmon eggs, and a perfectly poached egg on a bed of rice. Hubs got a beef rice bowl with Ajitama (?) egg. He absolutely loved it. Check out my photo. Fun place to have lunch on a lazy day, there's some other places that are walkable distance just down the street. It was a bit chilly so we didn't take advantage of the location and parking was a little tricky with the construction going right behind the restaurant. We'll be back to try the dinner menu next time!

Christy N.

Yelp
Sushi was pretty good! Their rolls are more authentic than places I've been and I am used to. A whole in the wall for sure as the place is pretty tiny. Would def recommend!!

Mitra K.

Yelp
Let me start off by saying that the only reason I didn't give them 5 stars is because the don't have a very extensive menu. Someone said they're Tapas only which was a first for us. With that being said, the quality of fish was most definitely some of the best I've ever had. My 20 year old and I have dined at some of the best Omakase in the country and this was up there. The fish just melts in your mouth, the Takoyaki was the BEST I've ever had. Their batter was unlike any others so if you're a a fan, there's is a must try! The service was also outstanding! Our sweet server even gave us mochi on the house. I'll definitely be coming back by myself

Tracy N.

Yelp
First time going into a "Japanese" restaurant and felt like a minority and I'm Asian. Do not have expectations here. Not a very big restaurant and probably hard to have a large party unless you do reservations. Hostess was very dry. Didn't even greet us. Just asked us how many people and if we had reservations. Asked if there was ramen but supposedly they don't serve ramen for dinner Food was terrible... Beer braised pork bun - came with 2. Flavor was decent. Weird that they added pickles, but I guess they were trying to be different instead of cabbage or something. Okonomoyaki - a bit mushy but what caught me off guard was that there was so much shredded ginger in the dish. Definitely wasn't in the description. Chicken karaage - super soggy and tossed in the sauce. Never had karaage tossed in sauce. Had to order spicy Mayo and they charged me another $1.50 for it. Foie nigiri - was not really nigiri. It was wrapped like we ordered salmon roe. The seaweed paper was super dry. Hamachi zest garlic roll - 8 pieces that barely tasted like garlic. Did not really have any flavor which I'm not sure if it's because it's fresh fish or there was no flavoring. Couldn't taste the zest/tang or garlic.

Kenya R.

Yelp
We have driven past this place a few times, but this time we decided to stop. It was underwhelming. We got the pork buns, miso soup, scallop and tuna tartare, eel, smoked salmon, hamachi, okoniyamki (I spelled it wrong) anyway the Japanese pizza, and the sweet tofu. Oh and the mushrooms. The pork buns were BLAND. The only thing you could taste were the pickles. The pork belly should be the star of the show. The Japanese pizza was blah. I only tasted lemon. My husband had the sushi and mushrooms. He wasn't impressed at all. The only piece he half enjoyed was the eel. My daughter had everything else and said the miso soup was good. The rest was ok. Our waitress was very nice and attentive. She did tell us the chef was new, so I don't know if it's always been this unsatisfying. I won't return. If you want phenomenal Japanese food, make a trip to Dallas and check out Uchi/Uchiba, and Ichigoh.

Kendall H.

Yelp
Fantastic Japanese restaurant with delicious sushi in Fort Worth. I highly recommend the hamachi roll (chef specialty) and scallop and tuna tartar! My husband loved the Okonomiyaki, a pork based appetizer that reminded us of a pork pizza - it came out hot and fresh and we devoured it. Every item was freshly prepared and filled with flavor. Reservations are definitely required for the weekend, and worth it! Enjoy

Adela M.

Yelp
First off Johnny was amazing! We had never been here and decided to drop by and were pleasantly surprised. The happy hour menu has amazing choices and we were recommend even better ones by the bartender. The ramen was amazing, sushi tasted so fresh, and everything had amazing flavors. This is definitely giving that hole in the wall feel I love and the mom and pops vibe if that's what you're looking for. If you're ever in the area definitely give it a try!

Anthony A.

Yelp
The server, a tall heavy set white man was extremely rude. For Started no where does on the yelp Page or at the location does it say that you have to have reservations to dine there. We walked in and they refused To sit us. Then we asked for place an order to go and he refused us and said on the weekends that don't do to go orders. He was extremely rude. Terrible experience.

Bruno L.

Yelp
This is truly a whole in the wall with A+ level of service and food quality. Highly recommend you try this place!

Brittney S.

Yelp
The Hamachi Zest Garlic Roll was extremely good and fresh. Would definitely get this again. My mate had the Pork Cutlet Bowl (lunch special), which he said was tender but would benefit from more seasoning. Definitely want to try the noodles next time. The service was friendly and timely.

Monie H.

Yelp
So far, I've been here three times for happy hour and two times for lunch. I've enjoyed the food and cocktails every time. Here is a list of food items I've tried: tok fries; hokkaido scallops & tuna tartare; kanpachi ceviche; spicy hamachi onigiri; pumpkin cheesecake (desserts are seasonal); various rolls {don't recall all of them - smile}; hot sake; "surprise" red wine; and sinjuku-rita. Apparently, I do enjoy sampling menus. LOL! Everything was fresh and delicious. The flavor profile of food items here is top notch; therefore, Shinkjuku Station is currently one of my favorite sushi places. (nice find in Fort Worth) This spot is actually the first sushi place I visited after restaurants began opening again after covid hit. Although I've never had a "bad" service experience here, it can be slow due to staffing issues (something the entire planet is currently having problems with). I have had to "look for" my waitperson and/or wait on food and drink orders for longer than I consider acceptable. But, apparently, the food is worth it to me. LOL! Like I typed, not bad, but slow about 1/2 of my visits. The dining area is quite small and not conducive to large parties, but it's cozy and intimate. The decor is calming and laid back. This is a great date spot or place for a few pals to hang out. There is plenty of free parking along the street and side streets. I shall return!

Lili A.

Yelp
I used to love this place the food was sooo good & the staff was so kind things have changed here! They no longer offer the king crab roll or the chicken karaage which were really great! The sushi I had was not the best it had way too much lemon zest for my liking. The miso soup was kind of sweet not very flavorful, there just were not many choices on the menu anymore. The waitstaff for the most part was nice, our waiter was very kind and helpful he made great suggestions. There was one staff member we did not care for seemed she had a chip on her shoulder, short hair reddish, white, pretty young shoved our stuff aside on the table when she brought our appetizer with no comments then as we left others said goodbye & she ignored us. I think with some tweaks it can be great again! The parking garage was convenient but 10$ for 1 hour & 7 minutes!

Jina N.

Yelp
Me and my family came here to celebrate our sister bday when I was in town. Service was very good! The staff were super nice and attentive. They have many variety of different sashimi and sushi and appetizers. I don't know what we order but it was plenty of amazing yumminess. I think my family all were very full and happy. The check came out to $600 something and it was worth it! A hidden gem in downtown forthworth. Must try if u ever in this area

Grace Y.

Yelp
Came for a late lunch during their happy hour! I have the Chicken Karaage Bento, which was good. I was a little disappointed because I got only three small pieces of chicken though... so if I had to go back I would order the Kakiage Donburi (rice bowl), as you'll see the amount of chicken they get compared to the bento is ridiculous. But I enjoyed trying the fried octopus fritters, as that's a unique menu item, and the Cali Roll was also good. Our server was very nice and attentive too. The restaurant itself has pretty limited seating, so come during the off-peak hours.

Gina S.

Yelp
Fabulous food and service. Def worth a visit if you are in the area. We will be going back when we are in town.

Megan T.

Yelp
Finally was able to go...however after 5 and that's when they stop serving ramen so that was a little disappointing coming from Keller. I feel like if it's good they should sell it all night especially on the weekend...but just means a reason to return. We sat at the bar and the bartender was amazing! She recommended dishes and we followed through. Shinjuku did not disappoint. We will be back for ramen and sushi

Foodie W.

Yelp
Great facilities and ver nice staff. The ramen was the best I've outside of Asia! Very delicious! Tempura sampler was very crunchy and fresh.

Alice C.

Yelp
Sushi is great quality. Such good food! Great selection of nigiri. Small spot but cute place for a date night!

clair g.

Yelp
Went for a quick lunch with my husband. They were out of three items we asked to order which was disappointing. The chicken bowl was very salty. Overall, the food wasn't remarkable. Expected the food to be better from the reviews. Won't be back.

Yelp
Was intrigued by the high rating on Yelp and had craving for quality raw fish on my birthday week. Bad b/c of our waiter (potential restaurant manager) or imo, a giant Jerk-Wad who happened to also take care of the bar area. Long Story Short: Great, like really great food (beef & fish quality superb as I was expecting) prob just get to go in the future. The Bad: Didn't have half the items we wanted like foie gras nigiri, eel (though someone else got eel served 15 mins after we were rejected). The guy at the bar (our waiter) was not very likable seemed like he ran the place but w/e he was the reason I wouldn't visit again. Booked a res on yelp for me and my buddy. We were given the smallest table in the joint and when we asked for a few different bigger open tables & asked to move, staff said should be np but then our waiter, guy at the bar would come back & overrule + informed us they were it was booked for a reservation (which were also for 2) but seated 4, the couple never arrived until about the time we left. If we had our food on time, we would have been gone before the reservation arrived. Food took beyond forever, they messed up and gave us sashimi instead of a roll. I said idc I'm too hungry and will take it. The bar dude said naw no can do, might be someone else's order. I flipped on him respectfully about the time and service and lack of options available. Then he realized he the bossy jerk messed up & gave us the sashimi for free and the roll we ordered. I didn't care that he comped sashimi but just glad after that he seemed to realize he was the bad guy. The Good: Fish quality was amazing, really flavorful!!! Steak quality was AMAZINGGG!!!! Super tender and juice + fun to eat. The apps. we're okay but can't stop thinking about how good the foie gras nigiri would have been. Oh well guess I gotta come back...

Yelp
If you have been spoiled with good sushi/ sashimi then this is not the place for you. The agedashi tofu was didn't have any sauce just fried tofu The takoyaki was good but some pieces didnt have octopus The scallops, hamachi chili, hamachi yuzu was good So was the foie gras. The selection was very limited. There wasn't any high quality fish offered. We sat at the sushi bar and our chef was really nice. The staff was all nice except the hostess that told us there was no seating when we got there the restaurant was almost empty. Said they were all reserved. We didn't have reservations. We asked if we could sit at the bar since she sat the two people that walked in after us. She said she could not sit part of 3 at the bar. But there was 3 chairs left!!! The other staff was nice to get us the sushi bar. What makes me upset is that there's still empty seating when I left. It was really warm inside and big nats flying around the sushi bar.

Yelp
This was honestly the best sushi I ever had. Fresh fish Different options Tasty ginger (I know this sounds weird, but the ginger was delicious) If you here I would highly recommend trying the pork buns. They come two to an order, and the breading is soft and spongy. The pork has also been well-marinated in Sapporo. After trying this, my friend and I ordered another order, and it was divine. I also have a confession to make. This is the only sushi joint where I have spent over $180 including tip (and interestingly, I don't feel like I burnt a hole through my pocket because it was that good. About the customer service: our server was friendly and totally sweet. Come here if you want delicious sushi. It's pricy, so keep track of what you order. I highly recommend trying if you have a night out on the town.

Yelp
The Cali roll was super good and the service was good as well. -3 stars because the bar area had flies everywhere, they charge you for any sauce addition, and the quail egg plate gave my friend the worst food poisoning.

Yelp
Shinjuku station was authentic, Japanese food! Our waiter as very knowledgeable about all the sashimis and answered all of our questions. Great date night spot! Don't miss out on the fries

Yelp
If you are looking for the best quality, authentic sushi, then this is your place. This is the kind of sushi that melts in your mouth. Our favorite roll was the sweet jalapeño. No complaints on any of the other rolls. If you venture here you MUST try the Tok Fries!!!! The best cooked potatoes with a Japanese Mayo, and Furikake dipping seasoning. I've never had anything like them. Trust me...get them. Drinks-I had the Japanese mule (super refreshing). My husband had a Japanese whiskey, the IWAI Blue Label. I am not a whiskey person, but the flavor and after taste made me even want to order one or two. Semi sweet and full of flavor. Shinjuku Station is now one of our go to date spots. If you'd like to try it out make a reservation or you will most likely have to sit at the bar. They open at 5pm, so reserve a spot on the OPEN TABLE app.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite pit stops when I'm on my Houston-Amarillo-Lubbock-Abilene-Houston road trip. Which I make twice a year it seems. Actually, Shinjuku sits on a developing City block that now has choices of boutique cafes and shopping. This restaurant is NOTHING like its namesake in Japan. But I never liked that station in particular and most people I've noticed are in a hurry to get out of the real Shinjuku ... but outside that station it is amazing! ... back to the restaurant in Ft. Worth .... you want to go in this version of Shinjuku Stn. The food is great, service is careful and fun, and the interior is really nice.

Yelp
This has been on my bucket list forever and it was well worth the visit. When they asked if we had dietary restrictions, we said no. LOL being ovo-lacto-vegetarian for a month is certainly a restriction. Luckily the waiter set us straight and got us the vegetarian menu so we can peruse and order to our heart's content. We had the stir-fried edamame, shishito peppers, baked mushrooms, vegetarian tok fries, inari, and tempura fried aspara, sweet potato, lotus root, kambocha, and mochi dessert. We loved it all! It was a very intimate setting. The server was very knowledgeable. We had a great 1 year celebration izakaya style. Recommendation, get double of the dip/seasoning for the tok fries.

Yelp
I absolutely loved this place! Keep in mind the parking is very tricky. When you see the restaurant, make sure you park in the back and you can walk in through the back. There are parking spots across the restaurant as well, they are free. Our server was awesome, none of the servers really write anything down, they are so experienced they remember everything. The ambience is really nice they have you sit inside or outside. Don't sit outside there are a lot of mosquitoes. The service is fast and the food is amazing. Make sure you get the fries they are the bomb. I took pictures of the appetizer that you have to get when you come here. One of the best sushi places In Fort Worth. They have a really nice happy hour, and they are only open certain hours so make sure you double check.

Yelp
I absolutely enjoyed my visit here and I can't wait to bring friends and family to this restaurant. First off- THE TOK FRIES. Just order it before they run out! Service- nicest servers and chill hosts. They're conversational and will recommend the tastiest items off the menu based on what you're looking for Ambiance- super cute date vibes :)! The patio during the evening was so peaceful and quiet- great if you're looking for a place for conversations and low key vibes

Yelp
Live review time because it's been 25 minutes since we arrived, 20 minutes since we ordered drinks and appetizers, and I'm still sitting here with nothing in front of me. Although as soon as I finished that sentence our drinks arrived, followed shortly by the tok fries and karaage. I'm a bit picky about my bees knees cocktails, and this one was spot on. The tok fries are amazing: crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and the spicy kewpie mayo is the perfect accompaniment. The karaage is similarly delicious (although I would prefer a full lemon wedge to the half they give you), and DEFINITELY better with the spicy kewpie mayo. Unfortunately 35 minutes in and we haven't been able to order entrees yet because the server keeps darting off before we can. Just drop and go. The hamachi and hotate nigiri (which arrived next) were both very fresh, and they use a sweet pickled ginger that doesn't overpower the fish. I did also order the spicy hamachi onigiri. I've never had onigiri before so I have nothing to compare it to, but the sweet rice envelopes the fresh fish, highlighting the flavor of the hamachi. I recommend avoiding this dish if you can't handle spicy food, and adding a splash of soy if you do! The ramen was definitely very meh, with plastic-y noodles, overcooked and dry chashu, and relatively boring broth. More than likely we'll be back for more of those appetizers though.

Yelp
Came here on my birthday and it was such a great lunch menu! Made a special roll for me too! Cute small ambiance, clean and friendly staff. Fresh, crisp, beautifully crafted sushi rolls. Can't wait to go back for date night!

Yelp
This is a cute gourmet Japanese/sushi restaurant. Love the atmosphere, romantic but quaint. All orders are made and delivered as courses - so you will only receive on plate at a time. If you are starving, this is not your place. If you want to nibble and enjoy a cocktail, then you have found your joint. We sat at the bar and the service was slower than I would have liked but small deal breaker to come back.

Yelp
Heard a lot about this place. Walked in tonight (Wednesday) at about 7 pm. Sat at sushi bar. Service was marginal. Then after about 30 minutes after I ordered the waiter come over and tells me that the wait times for sushi are going to be "longer" than normal because of all the sushi "tickets" that are in ahead of me. I asked him what "longer " meant and he couldn't tell me. Really? Way too many places on Magnolia that have great food, better service and quicker serve times!!!

Yelp
RIP Shinjuku. Gone rapidly downhill since Covid. Bring back old the shinjuku. Been coming here for years but unfortunately today was our final time. 2 stars due to a great server.

Yelp
Excellent food & outstanding service. We went with a large group and we tried numerous items! I'd almost describe my experience because of the large group as organized chaos but service couldn't have been any better. The food & drinks kept flowing, they were attentive, took time to explain food & beverages, & made sure there was never a lull. I'm not big on sushi so I was relieved to find a lot of non-sushi items on the menu. Some of my favs were the japanese mushrooms (to die for!), tok fries, chicken karaage, chinese broccoli, shishito peppers, beer braised pork buns, spicy yellow tail sushi, & the Shinjuku Margarita! We kept eating and eating but there is still so much more on the menu that we need to go back and try! And we will! The bathroom is the only reason I did not give the 5th star. It was clean though.

Yelp
We had an enjoyable meal here but unfortunately I wasn't blown away by this place, I found everything lacked flavour. We mainly focused on the sushi, I would go back to try the ramen and see if thats any good. We came on a late Wednesday afternoon and had the entire restaurant to ourselves. The host was right on validating our parking for us. We told our sever it was our first time here but he didn't go over explaining the menus to us, or recommending any dishes - he didn't seem to care. We had the regular menu, the Happy Hour menu and then confusingly the sushi menu was hanging up on the wall!? We started off with the chicken karaage and pork buns. The chicken was pretty bland and the spicy mayo wasn't spicy at all. The buns were good, a little fatty but again lacked much flavour. We ordered a few rolls, the better than Cali, hamachi zest garlic, spicy yellowtail and saltwater eel. The rolls were all made fresh to order. You could tell the fish was fresh but it all just lacked flavour. Our eel roll did actually end up having bones in, the chef apologised and stated it was unacceptable and made us handrolls for the incident, which were actually the best thing we had the entire meal, I'm not sure exactly what was in them, but they were flavourful and tasty - I think they were an off menu item. So overall, the service wasn't very good, what made the meal for us was chatting to the chef as he made our sushi. I want to give this place more than 3 stars but it just didn't do it for us.
