The food was disappointing. Nothing hit the mark. Not coming back again. Dishes tried: Roti prata - the best dish of the night. Crispy and light. Curry sauce was just ok. 4/5 Chicken satay - too sweet. Weak seasoning flavors. Not at all authentic. One order has 2 sticks. 3/5 Sambal fish fillet - taste was good. Spicy and savory. But the fish wasn't very fresh. 3/5 Seafood Hor fun - big fail. It was swimming in tasteless soupy sauce. Way too wet. The flavors fell flat too. Just weird. 1/5. Sambal prawn - flavors were pretty good. Spicy and savory like it should be. 4/5 Nasi lemak rice - barely a hint of coconut flavor. Tasted like white rice rinsed in coconut water. 0/5 Chicken flavored rice - 3/5 Shiok spare ribs - not good at all. A side of salad greens with 4 pieces of ribs. Huge chunks of ribs with hardly any meat on them. Flavor wasn't great. 2/5. Over all the food was underwhelming. I'm not keen to return here at all. The ambience was dim and the place smelled like the food. Be prepared to do a thorough washing of everything after a meal here. The service was odd too. When we asked for additional bowls to share the hot fun, the waitress looked at the 5 of us and asked how many bowls? Duh!!

Very authentic well, well-flavored Singaporean food they have! I have lived in Singapore for a long time, and I was impressed by all the delicious dishes that were very easy to reproduce! 😋 we tried a chicken rice, Laksa noodle, Butter Prawns, Poti Prata, Chicken Satay, they all great! They also carry some Indonesian food and Malay food too, like, Nasi goreng, Mee goreng and Nasi lemak. We like to try Kopi next time! ☕️

Google
A decent spot for a meal solo or with a group. Restaurant is a bit shabby and dim, and service could be better. Price is ok. Food is high quality but definitely not something to rave about. Got the laksa. Fresh and creamy, but could be spicier. Definitely felt more home style with simpler flavours. The portion size is a bit on the small side for the price. Had to remind the waiters twice for water, and the food was a bit slow to come out. Overall though, still had a better time than most places. Worth a visit if you're around. Would also recommend coming with a group since there's lots of family style dishes!

Google
So disappointed. Singapore food is famously yummy and satisfying. This restaurant ruins all that. I’m sure this family situation means well, but the kitchen is hugely lacking in talent and the family members out front need to learn everything about basic service. Our Five Spice Pork Roll was weirdly flavourless and with a consistency that felt like it was made yesterday and microwaved. My Duck Garlic Noodles (Sounds fantastic, right?) had an awful presentation - and btw was brought to table one minute after the appetizer had arrived, so my wife watched me eat… - with a small portion, flavourless prep, and oddly all the noodles chopped into small segments like for a child. My wife’s Laksa - a Singapore staple - was almost okay but the pre-cooked noodles were way overcooked - a cardinal sin. The two lads handling service - we were the only seated customers btw - never collected any of the dishes!! Drives me nuts. So, avoid avoid avoid!! This family needs to pivot into something (ANYTHING) else besides restaurant business.

Google
Very mild flavors, noticeably light on spice and fragrant herbs. Nasi Lemak had a passively crispy fried chicken accompanied by sambal lacking a punch beyond slightly sweet. Claypot Rice was simply rice spooned into a claypot (no crispy bottom) topped with a simple stir fry. If in the mood to stimulate one’s palate, here may not be it.

Google
This is one of our favorite Singaporean food restaurants in the Bay Area - the quality is consistently good and prices are very reasonable. The most authentic dishes in my opinion are the Hokkien mee, char Kway Teow and Hor Fun. The menu is extensive. Go early to avoid crowds and the wait for food can be long. Highly recommended.

Cute little Singaporean Restaurant in Menlo Park. Limited seating in a cozy setup. History: Established in 1999. Began as a small 16 seat hole-in-the-wall on the quiet part of Laurel Street in San Carlos, moved to Menlo Park soon after. Everything we ordered here was at their best taste. We experimented with some items which we haven’t had earlier. Sambal Kangkong - Spicy tangy appetizer, though spinach stalks were little chewy. Okra option is available too. Felt $17 a tad expensive for that. Chicken Satay - On sweeter side, expected it to have little spice. Hor Fun - Full of deliciousness, go for it if you are an egg lover. Soupy eggy flat noodle delight. Laksa - Show stopper of the day. If you like aroma and taste of dried shrimp and into soupy noodles, this is for you. Can’t stop eating it. We ordered Lychee Spritz and Lime Juice as coolers. Owners were amazing. We just loved the hospitality. They were so friendly and understanding. We made a mess at the table while dining with kid. They switched the table for us with a smile. Would definitely recommend this restaurant.

I was so excited to find this place! Turns out they've been around for decades, so that goes to show they're a staple in the neighborhood. We came here around 7:30PM on a Saturday, and parking was really easy. It was great that they had a good crowd still at this house. We got seated within 5 minutes! For dinner, we had: - Singapore Chicken Rice (aka Hainan Chicken Rice) - Duck Garlic Noodles - Roti Prata - Chicken Satay The chicken rice wasn't super stand out. The chicken was cooked well and the rice was good, but the sauce and overall flavor was a 4/5! The duck garlic noodles were super delicious! I stopped ordering garlic noodles from restaurants for a while, because it usually clumps up when the noodles chill. But we had a taste of the noodles right when they were served and again after trying everything else. I loved that they stayed chewy, bouncy, and didn't clump up. 5/5! The roti prata was soft, crispy, and toasty with a delicious curry sauce. I loved that they separate the roti into small pieces, since it's usually too hot to handle at first. 5/5! The chicken satay was fantastic on its own. The sauce that came with it was okay, but I didn't feel like it improved the chicken. 4.5/5! Can't wait to come back! I want to try the Beef Rendang next time (and get more garlic noodles).

Yelp
I had bookmarked this place for awhile. They only have takeouts now. The location is not in a good neighborhood and with no parking. I had to park illegally. Fortunately, it was quick to get my food. Ordering online was easy. I ordered: Chili prawns 4/5 - about 8 prawns and peeled with head and tail attached Char Kway Teow Noodle with chicken 3/5 - It supposed to be burnt a bit which I'm not used too. My daughter liked it though. Laksa 3/5 - didn't ordered with noodles but asked for more vegetables (bean sprouts). They didn't give too much soup. Flavor was authentic. Overall, ingredients were fresh, authentic flavors, but not much food. Given the lower rent, they should increase the quantity of food. This is advice from being familiar with running a restaurant. Generous portions always win customers to come more often.

Yelp
Great Singaporean flavors in Bay area! The Roti Prata was awesome, wish they had the chicken & egg stuffed ones too. Hainanese Chicken-Rice - the no.1 comfort food was simple & well done. The signature Singapore Chilli prawn was very tasty - a tad sweeter for my taste, I would have liked an option to make is spicier. I guess the Crab version would be similar. The fried Banana with ice cream desert was delicious. Have to revisit to try out the Laksa, Rendang & Nasi Lemak. Lamb Rendang would be a welcome option. Must try for folks looking for food variety. Simple decor, great service. Must try.

Yelp
Enjoyed my meal here with decent food. The menu was reasonable priced, and service was nice. I think the items we ordered all met our expectations, but there were other items on the menu that looked really good too that we didn't get to try. Would come back here again if in the area to try other items

Yelp
My very first time trying Singaporean food and I'm not disappointed at all! My highlight is definitely the nonya fish and crispy tofu. Nonya fish is fried crispy and it comes with a tasty tomato sauce. The crispy tofu, although the name says crispy, actually is super soft almost like a pudding. It pairs very well with the sauce and thin carrot garnish. Although the portion seems smaller than expected and I also wished there is more duck with the garlic noodle, the flavor is delicious and I would def still be back to try out more new dishes.

Yelp
This is sad. Order from their doordash because this amount of chicken with no soup on the side for the price is just sad. Got takeout and picked it up from their restaurant.

Yelp
57$ and I don't want to eat any of this food. Burnt chicken skewers. The seabass is floating in soup with no veggies. Gross

Yelp
Came here for the first time. We happened to be around the area and found this Singaporean restaurant. We came here for lunch around 12:30pm on a Wednesday. Not too crowded. Only 2 tables were also dining in. We ordered the lunch special, nasi goreng with prawns and rendang rice plate. Nasi goreng is pretty good. And my husband likes his rendang rice plate that came with salad although the rendang could have more depth in flavor, he said. We also enjoyed the iced tea and fried ice cream during this hot day particularly the coconut ice cream hiding inside this battered donut-textured cake that is slightly crunchy on the outside. It's so yummy. Overall, it's a good place to have lunch. The staff is friendly and attentive. Come try it out!

Yelp
What a great hole in the wall spot! I'd venture to call it the gem of downtown Menlo Park. I haven't had much Singaporean food, but this was a great intro. Go with friends to get several dishes to try. We ordered the roti and tofu appetizers and two noodle dishes. Service was solid and the restaurant was well visited on a Friday night! Snag a reservation if you don't want a wait.

Yelp
Shiok is a tucked away spot off Menlo Park's main drag and the interior is cozy and inviting. I was drawn by the Singaporean menu and the Hainan chicken and roti prata with curry were delicious. Now, the eatery faces closure with the pending sale of the building. I hope Shiok finds a new location as the ambiance and cuisine are something special.

Yelp
The laksa was so flavorful and the prawns were huge. Also had char kuey tiao and lettuce cups, which were good. Only downside was that the meats were kind of tough and had weird texture across several dishes. We managed to catch them on their last day of operations. The owners mentioned that they'll be operating out of a kitchen doing takeout-only food in Redwood City soon, so looking forward to that.

Yelp
Shiok feels a little dated, like a window into a bygone Singapore. The wall is painted a dark purple colour, and the decorations are lavish. I do really like the oil paintings of blooming flowers at the back. I ate the Hainan chicken, and it was good: most pieces had a nice texture, and it was quite tender. The sauces were good. I felt that the coconut flavour in the coconut rice was somewhat subdued, and the soup was definitely watery. The prices were reasonable.

Yelp
Very family oriented vibe here. The people here seem to really care about the customers, very excellent customer service and food.

Yelp
Chili crab from Singapore is the bomb, BUT You have to give them a full 24 hour advanced notice. Roti Prata with Curry Sauce was great. Just don't know why they tear the roti up before they serve it to you. The best roti parts I've ever had is at the Banana Leaf in Milpitas. If you like Roti Prata, you've got to try it there. Singapore Chicken Rice ... three nice sauces. Honestly, I wasn't overly impressed. Veggie stir fry ... tofu did not taste good. Sorry to sound so negative. I really wanted it to be a good experience. Chili shrimp had good flavor .... Sadly the cabbage on the bottom is raw. Not really edible. Service was probably the best thing at the restaurant. Based on my experience, I probably won't come back .

Yelp
I've had this food twice and they were both doordash deliveries. Both times I have ordered the string beans, and I think they're great in terms of flavor and crunchiness. I ordered the coconut rice last time and it was pretty good. Today, I ordered the Nonya fish, which was pretty good minus the quantity. It definitely displayed a bit flat, and it comes in plastic containers, so unfortunately, the fish is not crispy, but still soft and flavorful with the sauce on top. They did not have the singapore carrot cake so they changed my order to char kway teow which was fine as I didn't order a side of rice and this noodle dish was a good pairing. I would be interested to try it in person next time. But I'll continue to order it via delivery as well.

Yelp
Excellent veggie stir fry: bok choy, mushrooms, carrots and tofu in a tasty sauce. Jasmine rice is two dollars extra. Pleasant guitar music in the background. Bamboo and Buddha decor. Dark and cozy. Reasonable pricing.

Yelp
I went here with my team for a fun lunar new year lunch and parking was a bit of a mess. Hard to find because the lots and street parking were full. The food was reasonably priced and as per my Singaporean manager, pretty good! The nasi lemak looked a bit sad but the noodle dishes were pretty good. Can't go wrong with the chicken and rice!
google avatar

Yelp
Service was quick. I was on a limited time which was helpful. I ordered a clay pot out was delicious.

Yelp
Singapore Chicken Rice - don't waste your money going here, I'd recommend chicken meets rice over this place. The actual food looks completely different than the photos they advertised. I ordered on Uber eats and there is no side soup as advertised, no garnishment on top, and the rice is mushy (as you can see in the photo). Stay away from this place if you want good food. The food wasn't even cheap and this is what I got for it. I won't come back. First and last time.

Yelp
Very sad to hear the building was sold and the landlord gave the restaurant 30 days notice to vacate. I had only been here once before for the classic Hainanese chicken months earlier. Naturally I had to visit before it closes so I paid homage the last two nights. On the first night I ordered the Hor Fun, which was a rich soup base with wide rice noodles and beef. It was truly "comfort in a bowl". The soup was absolutely delicious and quickly became my favorite dish I've eaten in a long time. Last night I was tempted to order the same thing but noticed the Hokkien Mee dish served on the table next to me. It looked like a creamy fettuccine but I come to find out this dish is a staple of restaurant. The mixture of yellow egg noodle and vermicelli noodles cooked in a rich chicken broth and seafood magically melted in my mouth and filled my tummy with love. Service is wonderful and efficient. Owner Dennis warmly checks on each table. I hope they find another space soon. This has quickly become a favorite in my repertoire.

Yelp
It's a place to go if you crave Singaporean food and there are not many Singaporean restaurants in the Bay Area.
google avatar

Yelp
It's always nice when you try flavors you've never experienced before. This was definitely one such time, and it was both delicious and mind-blowing. Everything was amazing, and the service was very nice. The ambiance was calm and inviting, perfect for a relaxed meal. The standout dishes for me were the 5 spice rolls and the laksa. Both were incredibly flavorful and unique. The pricing was reasonable, especially considering the opportunity to try something new and exciting. I loved this place and would highly recommend it to anyone looking to explore new flavors.

Yelp
We absolutely love the food here. It tastes like a nice home cooked meal. The people there are super nice and attentive. The overall restaurant is cute, liked the vibe. We would come here again.

Yelp
Really have been craving Singaporean food since the last time I visited my relatives in Singapore. However, the dishes I tried here were disappointing :( The service was quite superb though Roti Prata with Curry (3/5) -- My BF thought the roti and the sauce were meh. I thought the curry sauce was alright and I did like the texture of the roti. Mee Goreng (3/5) -- I didn't expect it to be so sweet or tomatoey. Def didn't taste like what I've had in Singapore Char Kway Teow (1/5) -- Strangely the noodles tasted burnt?? First bite, I felt like I inhaled smoke. Even when the noodles had no visible burnt marks, they tasted burnt. The sausage and shrimp tasted okay though Service -- We couldn't finish the Char Kway Teow and upon notifying out waitress, she kindly gave us the options of remaking this dish (even after they have closed their kitchen) or removing this item from our tab. We ended up removing this item and giving her a nice tip instead! We also saw them handling a larger group of ~8 people and being very amicable when they broke a plate as well. Food was disappointing but service was amazing! Quite sad that this Singaporean place didn't quite meet our expectations :(

Yelp
Came out here for a dinner on Friday night. We got a reservation from open table. There were plenty of free parking spaces around the restaurant. My friend was running late but I was able to check in, on time. They seated me at a nice and cozy table. Chairs on one and long sofa on the other end of the table. And beautiful cushions. It was really comfortable and homey. My friend arrived soon after. Server got us menus and checked in twice to give us time, tried to help us order. We ordered a roti prata, sayor lodeh, garlic pepper chicken with a serving of white and coconut rice. The food looked beautiful and it was delicious, hot and very aromatic. It smelt so good that I wanted to dig in asap, while it was still piping hot. Service was also very good. The server checked in on us and refilled water, without having to ask for it. We also spoke to the owner, Dennis. He has been a restaurant owner for over 20 years. He cares a lot about customer service and making sure every customer has a stellar experience. We had a lot of questions about how he manages the restaurant and juggles between in store and online foot traffic. He was very gracious to answer all our questions. He spent over 30 mins talking us. The whole experience showed us how much he cares about customer service. And when the owner cares so much about it, it really shows in every touchpoint.

Yelp
i like their dish that has noodles and tomatoes. i forgot what it's called but it's one of their lunch specials. you can get it with chicken or vegetarian. it's a little on the greasy side, but it's super flavorful. there needs to be more singaporean restaurants in the bay!
google avatar

Casidy C.

Yelp
Aaa I forgot to take pictures :') but had a wonderful dinner here with a friend! We ordered the roti prata, chicken satay (came with 2 skewers), garlic duck noodles, and the nasi goreng. I also got a Singapore iced milk tea- very good taste, kinda like a HK milk tea but also not crazy strong. The roti prata were super crispy and the curry it came with had the perfect kick of spice; it came cut up into large bite size pieces for easy eating. Chicken satay was super tender, peanut sauce was yummy and not too strong like I've had in other places. Garlic duck noodles came with a bit of melted cheese on top which we did not expect- but actually its a great combo of flavors, really adds to the richness and depth of the dish. The pieces of duck were cooked very well, though I did find a little bone shard in one piece. Nasi goreng was good too! We got it with prawns and my only complaint is that I wish it came with a few more shrimp, otherwise the seasoning was on point. The prices reflect the Menlo Park location- dinner for two with tip was maybe $60 ish. Tbh the portions for the food is reasonable- the four dishes we got was just the right amount for us two girls. Restaurant environment is cozy with pillows on the booth seats, a little bit on the small side- we did notice some larger tables were reserved but our party of two got seated immediately around 6 pm on a Friday. Lots of easy street parking around, and there's a small lot by the restaurant along Oak Grove Ave. Would like to return and try their fun cocktails and maybe a dessert! Also curious about the clay pot rice...

Yelp
Singaporean restaurants are surprisingly few and far between in the Bay Area so I was quite excited when a fellow Singaporean told me about Shiok. I have been largely disappointed with the few Singaporean/Malaysian places I have tried in the Bay so I made sure to temper my expectations for this visit. That being said, I am happy to report that Shiok was quite delightful! We ordered all the classic dishes such as curry laksa, roti prata, char kway teow, chicken satay, nasi lemak, and Hainanese chicken rice. The standout here was undoubtedly the roti prata and char kway teow. The roti was multi-layered and crispy and the curry dipping sauce was a perfect companion. The char kway teow was, well, charred - just like it's supposed to be and well seasoned. The service here was also incredibly attentive and I just loved the cozy vibe and interior. I did wish the Hainanese chicken here was a bit more underdone like how it is in Singapore but I understand that the US food regulations may not allow that. Can't wait to take more friends here!
google avatar

Anjana R.

Yelp
Good Singaporean food, the Hainanesse chicken rice is very similar to Singapore hawker center taste. The carrot cake has two options of white and dark, not on the menu but they will make it for you. They were very accommodating to make a vegan nasi goereng with authentic flavors.
google avatar

Sophia C.

Yelp
A go-to takeout spot with consistent food. If you're looking to support a local business and are looking for Chicken Rice this is a great option. I haven't tried any of the other dishes since this is what I often crave but would expect the others to be just as good.
google avatar

Yi Liang S.

Yelp
Ok, it's really rare that you find a Singaporean restaurant in the US that sells hokkien mee, or even better, ngoh hiang (which they call "Five Spice Roll" for familiarity reasons, I suppose), so this is already an interesting place to go to alone for that reason. It's hard to not compare their dishes to what I am used to back home, but hopefully this will be understandable for other Singaporeans curious about this place. The satay was pretty good, though the peanut sauce definitely could be a bit stronger in flavour. The ngoh hiang was excellent, fried perfectly crispy, not too oily, and not too salty. The hokkien mee definitely could pass for an average hokkien mee place back home in Singapore, which, to be clear, is _really_ high praise. And finally, we tried the laksa, which, while definitely not like a traditional laksa broth, had its own take on it (not sure if it mixed a bit of assam fish curry stock in there or something), but it still tasted good, just definitely a little different from what traditional laksa would be. Overall? I'm _very_ impressed. I've lived in quite a few parts of the US and I can say without hesitation that this is the best Singaporean/Malaysian-style restaurant I've dined at thus far. For non-Singaporeans though, be aware that just like back home, service is curt and prompt rather than overly-nice and fawning. Their menu pricing for the area is also fairly reasonable. Try to dine in rather than takeout; you can't really treat hawker food like a Chinese-American takeaway; it's just not the same at all.
google avatar

Wendy R.

Yelp
I really wanted to give this cozy family owned restaurant five stars, but I couldn't. The service is great and attentive. You feel very welcome. Everything we ordered was fullof flavor. So why the 3 stars? Honestly, the portions were small. Each dish are pretty much appetizer portions for two. At the time that we want, there were flies, and we were indoors. I would still recommend this place though.
google avatar

Atiq R.

Yelp
Hidden gem of Menlo Park as an Asian decent quality restaurant. Laksa noodle makes a rainy day interesting here when cooked with fresh chicken and noodles. Mee goreng just does it on my usual days as long as those are not burnt. Coffee Tiam isn't recommended: not fresh, doesn't taste good, not a lot of topping options! Well, it's not a coffee place.
google avatar

Emily W.

Yelp
Great service and great food! The employees were very welcoming right off the bat, and ensured that our takeout order was ready as soon as possible. Ordered the roti, laksa, and char gway teow. The roti might've deceased in quality on the drive home - lacked a bit in flakiness and crispness. Laksa was amazing! It was sooo flavorful and we loved the broth. Char gway teow was pretty standard. Overall loved the food and service!
google avatar

Winnie F.

Yelp
If you are non Singaporean and want to know how we eat at home or you're a Singaporean craving for hometown food, this is the place. We ordered Chicken Rice, comes with home made chili & ginger sauce with "or yew" a special thick & black soy sauce, especially comes with hainanese chicken rice, but you can hardly find in most restaurants. Hokkien Mee, Singapore style, I haven't had one so authentic in many years. Laksa, wow... unresistible.... big prawns, the right kind of noodles, tow pok, and the flavorsome soup. Your taste buds are lighted up with memory. Chai Tow Kway, its not in the menu. You can have it black (Singapore style) or white (Malaysia Style). This fried carrot cake is rich in flavour and mouthwatering. We're definitely coming back, despite the 2.5 hrs drive. Wanted to try other dishes that are prepared with "old" & authentic receipts

Yelp
Found myself near downtown Menlo Park around dinner time, in the mood for some Singaporean food...thanks to yelp, discovered this gem! They open at 5pm and take online orders, so I placed an order of Chicken rice, one of my favorite dishes, Easy Peasey and in 15 mins it was ready. Parking was available right on the street outside the restaurant. The smell in the car on my way home was so aromatic, I was VERY tempted to pull over and start eating right away, but held off until I got home. Oh yeah baby! It was soooo good, the white meat chicken was tender and the rice was cooked perfectly with the broth. The best was the sauce...they gave me 3 selections, but my favorite was the ginger sauce, which I asked extra. The portion was plenty, enough for left overs the next day. I highly recommend this place, and would definitely come back and try their other entrees on the menu. Treat yourself to some authentic Singaporean food!

Yelp
Food is consistently very good. Service is steady. Really like their roti, green beans, salmon and several noodle dishes. We've been semi-regular customers for years.

Yelp
I ordered the Shioking Beef and it was delicious - tender beef was cooked perfectly, with a very tasty sauce. My friends seemed to all enjoy their dishes too. I wish I lived closer because they have a new online ordering system where you can earn rewards points - I know I'd be ordering from them a lot haha. But I'll be back for dine-in.

Li Hsuan L.

Yelp
I really want to like this place, the only place in the Bay Area that serves the Singaporean version of Hokkien Mee, which along with chicken rice are the top two dishes I miss from my time growing up in Singapore. And yes, the Hokkien Mee is good and decent but some of the other dishes leaves much to be desired. I'll be listing them by dishes this time since it is quite a mixed bag. Hokkien Mee: still the go-to, still the signature dish, the smell, taste just screams of childhood nostalgia, even if the seafood portions are a little disappointing. I may only speak for myself, but this is the number one dish to order at this place. Roti Prata: this was good also, and the flakiness of the flour was very much appreciated by me and my friends. The only gripe over here is really the price.. $8.50 for essentially naan or bread which at some places like Cheesecake Factory is provided as complimentary is just too much, regardless of how much you account for Bay Area costs/rents. (ok, I just took a look and Killiney serves them at $6 so looks like that is the cost of things..) Singaporean Tea (which comes with condensed milk): I got the hot one while another friend got the cold one and I enjoyed it and it was a nice mixture of the tea and the condensed milk. I also realized that I never actually had this in my many years in SG (shocking I know) so I can't actually compare it that way. Nonya Fish: now that I'm looking at it, this was a decent visit really, all brought down by this dish which was just downright disappointing. It was $17 which is totally reasonable on its own, until we found out there was probably less than 5 pieces of fried fish fillet in the dish. At this point I would rather there be a more decent portion/presentation of a dish at twice the price than what we got. In conclusion, this is a place for Hokkien Mee, and I will very much recommend everyone to come here for this dish; nonetheless, I'll be a lot more aware of the other dishes (note to self: maybe ask for some recommendations next time).

Yelp
I accidentally found this hidden gem on yelp on one of my many nosy browsings. It was dark and cold, and I had barely just finished my covid testing in the area for my upcoming international travels. I was craving ramen, and the nearest place was a bit too far for my liking. So I decided to check out the nearest Thai restaurant, which unfortunately has the wrong information on its hours on yelp. Locating this restaurant was pretty easy; even though I have commuted the area on many occasions, I was stupefied to learn this place had been there for ages. The service was excellent, and the food was well prepared and tasted delicious. I ordered the Sparerib King dish because of the tangy sauce, and boy did I make the right choice. It was so tender compared to other plates I've had in the past, and my picky six-year-old was so satisfied that she scraped every meat off the bone and had almost 60% of the entire dish. If you know my baby, she hardly cares for meat, but she enjoyed the taste this time. I love that the add-on rice that came in different and diverse flavors, and I enjoyed the chicken-flavored. It was very delish.

Yelp
I love it when the staff of a restaurant makes their customers feel at home. My friend here made reservations for my birthday and we got there a few mins late. The restaurant just opened, and the tables were starting to fill up already. *note they just opened like 15 mins ago. We got the Indian pancake and it was nice of them to cut it up in to pieces for us, so we didn't have to rip it up. The cause was a nice curry sauce and it was a nice kick to start off the night. The string beans also had a nice kick and the flavor was pretty good. It was more spicier than the curry sauce, so i wasn't able to handled it. But my friend loved it!! So if you like it spicy, get this dish. The Duck garlic noodles were tasty. It was odd how they added cheese on top and that's where i had my doubts. However, it turned out to be the perfect combo!! My favorite dish was the Hainan chicken. The rice was full of flavor and reminded me so much of the ones in Singapore. For the most part, the chicken was mostly juicy and the skin came off very quickly. There were three condiments with this, one was a hot sauce, another sweet soy and the ginger sauce. The ginger sauce lack salt and could've used more salt. The staff came together and sang happy birthday to me as they brought out my dessert. It was one of the best fried ice cream I've had. The batter was so light and fluffy and it wasn't too oily. Shiok will be added to one of my favorite places to eat in the South Bay! Can't wait to come back!

Yelp
Underwhelming. Low quantaties for the price, quite oily and restaurant condition is deteriorating. Perhaps takeaway is a better option

Yelp
I've been coming here for years. The food tastes great and they use fresh ingredients but portions have gotten significantly smaller. The attached picture is of my Sesame Chicken with coconut rice. It may look like my leftovers but it's actually how it arrived. Bag was stapled shut so can't blame the doordash driver. Lol Hopefully portions return back to normal.

Yelp
Walked into Shiok on a Thursday night at 8:10 pm. The restaurant's official close time was 8:30 pm and they refused to seat the two of us, saying the kitchen is closed, but we can order to go orders. So we did. Not crazy about the food. They put a lot of Indian spice in them. I ordered Hainan Chicken Rice and Rendang Beef. If I could give a zero, I'd put that down for service. I would rate the food a mere "meh" or -2, as in negative 2. Having lived in Singapore I do as not recommend this place to anyone who is a foodie!

Yelp
Was really looking forward to a nice meal here. tl;dr maybe time to shut it down. We were greeted and shown our table nicely. Menu looked great we ordered drinks and appetizers. However, we had to flag down the waitress after 10 minutes, to get her to take our drink/ap order. Yes - it be true - THE waitress. There was only one for the whole restaurant. There was another person who was tripling as hostess/bussing/table set up. Extremely poor service throughout our dinner. Had to ask for water twice, they never asked if we would like water. Served 4 out of the six main dishes ordered. Had to remind them about the other two a few times. Some served without a spoon or fork. The whole dinner they never asked if we wanted something, which is because they have ONE waitress. And of course she didn't have time to be nice, after you got her attention after several minutes- she was kind of brusque. And lastly, the food was mediocre at best. Most of it wasn't bad, but you could perhaps make better stuff at home. The mee goreng was a disaster. So to summarize- I think the owner/chef/and wait staff are checked out - and it shows in the quality of service and food. They are shut down, they just haven't put up the sign yet.

Yelp
Food - we ordered Roti Prata, Ngoh Hiang (Five Spice Roll), Curry Salmon, Hokkien Mee, Singapore Chicken Rice and Fried Ice Cream for dessert. Met our expectation specially the Hokkien Mee. Service - the manager was very accommodating and helpful. We had allergies to deal with and she offered GF options. Worth the drive, I must say.

Yelp
Service is good, food is mediocre and price is decent, though the portion is slightly smaller than expected. We ordered 3 dishes from their lunch special - nasi goreng (friend rice), mee goreng (stir fried noodles) and randeng beef w/ coconut rice. Nasi goreng is good, I do not recommend mee goreng however, it has a sour taste to it. The randeng beef is decent, sauce and the coconut rice are great, but the beef is too "tough" to chew thru. Overall I'll give it 3.5, so I round it up

Yelp
We're originally from singapore and the food tasted nothing like Singaporean Cuisine. The mee goreng tasted like Barista pasta with frozen veggies and overdose of oyster sauce. The roti parata was identical to the frozen paratas you get from grocery isle. We asked for the food to be made extra spicy and it was bland like my 2 year old could eat this. I won't be coming back. This was quite disappointing.

Yelp
I have been to Shiok a few times before. Last time was pre-covid and was not the greatest experience but decided to give them another try and ordered delivery. I ordered Roti Parata with curry sauce - this was delivered without any sauce and the roti was dry and hard. Also ordered the string beans which were soggy and not cleaned properly. The only decent thing was the steamed chicken. So disappointed.

Yelp
Fantastic well flavored good in DTMP. The service was spot on, they were more than willing to do substitutions on the menu, and we left super full and happy. The food is very reasonable in price. I'll definitely come here again!
