The 26 Best Restaurants In Lima - Lima - The Infatuation

"Nikkei restaurants in Peru reflect the histories of the families or individuals who created them. In this case, Shizen Barra Nikkei blends Japanese heritage with northern Peruvian roots, specifically those of Piura. This spot is a contemporary, cozy space where sashimi comes from the day’s catch, tiraditos arrive crowned with scallops and rocoto, and hearty nikumono norteño—slow-cooked veal with a Nikkei-style northern dressing—sits alongside loche purée and rice with peas. If you want substance, roll with the criollo tantanmen made with chicken broth, a bold criollo sofrito, short ribs, and a subtle kick of spice. The perfect finisher is the chumbeques, reimagined as an algarrobo parfait with algarrobina caramel sauce and achiote cookies." - paola miglio

For the Best Ceviche in Lima, Hit These 12 Cevicherias | Eater

"This restaurant, which honors Nikkei food, was born in 2018 under the command of three young chefs, Mayra Flores, Coco Tomita, and Renato Kanashiro. The trio don’t shy away from innovation, especially with their daring chirashi cebiche, which breaks any established code to either dish. The chefs top a base of sushi rice with sashimi, a mix of octopus, tuna, salmon, and market fish, then layer on chalaca (a Peruvian blend of onion, cilantro, and chile), smoked yellow chile leche de tigre, and sweet potato tempura. It’s a flavor bomb." - Liliana López Sorzano

Shizen exceeded every expectation! This was one of the best dining experiences we had in Lima sophisticated, creative, and absolutely delicious. From the moment we entered, the serene and stylish ambiance set the tone for a memorable evening. The service was impeccable gracious, knowledgeable, and attentive without being intrusive. Our server, Leo made excellent recommendations and helped us pair our dishes that elevated the entire experience.

Some of the best sushi I’ve ever had in my life vs many cities in the US. Great place to share sushi while on vacation with family. The nigiri changed my life and I had to order more. Wait staff was incredible and so attentive.

Amazing restaurant! Martin’s service was superb, they have so many unique dishes that his guidance was invaluable. They also serve half portions at a 60% rate so one can try many things. I recommend the nigiris

Undoubtedly, not bad at all. Nice place with good food and solid quality. We tried a few different dishes. It’s another Nikkei spot in Lima—one of several now in the area. You’ve got Omatsu, Osaka, and not far from here, Fan. It’s okay overall.

This was my first Nikkei experience and I was very much wowed from the food to the small details of service. Everything from start to finish was 5 star 🌟 My server Martin(?) had amazing recommendations, all of which suited my platate. I will be returning 😋

A bit more elegant in terms of atmosphere than some of the other Nikkei places, and they had some delicious nigiris to offer. A great dessert, too!
