Shohsaroy Restaurant

We had a great dinner experience at Shohsaroy, it was spacious and comfortable private dining booth. The food was delicious and generous portions. We ordered a variety of food including the Uzbek plov, the mixed tandir (cubed beef, chicken and lamb), lamb chops, beef lula and somsa. Our favorites were by far the somsa (meat and onion filled bread freshly toasted) and the beef lula (ground seasoned beef on a skewer). But all of the dishes were delicious and the meat was tender and juicy. Would recommend to others and would absolutely return!

it's been over a week since i came in for lunch and i can't stop thinking about this spot. we were wandering bay ridge and wanting to try a place we had not stopped in before. i saw "uzbekistan" on the front and immediately hopped over the street to come in. was blown away by the beautiful decor as soon as we walked in. i'm obsessed with the veiled booths and choice in curtains. elevated the entire atmosphere and made our dining experience comfortable and classy. we ordered the egg salad dish with olives and steak in it (forgot the name) but oh my goodness what a concept. i have never craved an egg salad before until i had this one. i live out of state so i am desperately looking up recipes until i can return (with my entire family who needs to try this too). the manti was amazing and the lamb chops were cooked perfectly to be like lollipops. also love how the table has cayenne pepper, salt, and vinegar as the condiments. such a refreshing change. our server was so sweet. sometimes she would open her phone to translate what we said to make sure we understood each other. motivated me to want to learn some small talk in Russian. 10/10 will be back.

This restaurant boasts a cozy and immaculate ambiance. While the service may have been a tad slow, the servers' exceptional demeanor compensated for any delay. Despite managing solo, he displayed remarkable patience and attentiveness. The cuisine was enjoyable overall, although the kebabs were slightly undercooked to personal preference. However, the standout was undeniably the Somsa, arguably one of the finest in all of NYC.

Location: Located in the heart of Bay Ridge, this quaint Uzbek restaurant has fine dining looks without being stuffy. The dinner ware is beautiful for some reason, and that is just fine. The decorations are minimal, with modern colors and tiling but throwback pictures and paintings of Uzbekistan. It's odd, but it works just fine. Food: I don't know much about Uzbek food. In fact, it was our first time eating. But the meal was outstanding. Forewarning: almost everything is made to order, so it will take a while to be out, including the appetizers. But the wait is worth it. We had the lagman soup as an appetizer of sorts. The smell was phenomenal. Cardamom and parsley with soft wheat noodles and beef, all in a rich, flavorful but somehow light broth. The entree was the Uzbek plov. A rich, hearty rice platter of beef, veggies, and quail eggs. My only complaint here was that it was very oily, which almost made it messy to eat. My wife had no issues with it, pointing out it is likely from the beef it is cooked on. I may be nick picking here, but it did not affect the flavourful experience. Service: attentive but not overwhelming. The server was welcoming, soft-spoken, and had an excellent demeanor. He was even shocked when I tipped him. Value: Overall, great value. 2 adults with a nice house compote was just $50, which is about average for the area. The portions are hearty, the food is flavourful, and the service was outstanding. We will certainly come back with friends and family.

BEST HALAL UZBEK IN NYC. With interiors like this you’d think that they’re three dollar signs but a plov with a whole lamb shank (+ salad on the side) for only $20 in this economy?? Unbeatable. Would go here every week if I live nearby. Samsa was also one of the best ones I’ve had in the city, they’re not filled with minced/ground meat but generous CHUNKS of meat with lamb fat, ugh so good. Lagman soup — the seasoning is not as punchy but the noodles have really good texture. Can’t wait to be back!

I chose this place for my dads birthday after seeing all the 5 stars. I like the decoration of this restaurant. Menu was simple and straightforward. Food was okay. Little too oily. If they would add some white sauce on the side would’ve been great. Uzbek polv was good than the kabab platter. But the reason I’m giving 2 star because of their service. After serving the food usually any other restaurant they would come and ask if we need anything or not but they didn’t even bother. We also took cake to the restaurant and they just brought it back with the box exactly the way we gave them. Every time I celebrated birthdays in any restaurant they would present the cake nicely. But first time experienced this. If we had to put the cake the way we took then wouldn’t give it to them. But anyways not sure if this is how they do the celebration or not. Just had a new experience there.

I've been to a few Uzbek restaurants in Sheepshead Bay, Rego Park, The Rockaways, etc. and this may be the best one I've encountered so far! Excellent samsas and lagman soup with house-made noodles. There was a large group of us and our server was very attentive and accommodating. Highly recommended.

Second time here and it’s even better loved the meats since they were cooked in the clay oven I had pilaf, somas, lamb kabob and piece kabob with the soup and house fruit juice and was superb I ate more than I was supposed to because it was delicious, dishwater was gold plated and the vibes were great.

Glad to see they closed- crooks- they add multiple fees into your bill- a 60 dollar bill will end up be 90. For mediocre uzbecki food. Good riddens

Cute decor but found some weird quirks. Instead of tap water; we got bottled water instead (and every table too.) Think it was like $3 extra. The water bottle was a consistent part of this restaurant. Would be nice to have complimentary tap water; but the restaurant seems to run on low staff and that would require more staffing (a water person maybe?)

Tried this new place out the other night during Summer Stroll. Husband and I were very impressed. The ornate plates and cups charmed us immediately, but, of course, that means nothing if the food isn't good--and, oh boy, it was! I ordered the Uzbek plov as I wanted to try something that was relatively unique to the place and that I hadn't tried before. Soooo good! Delicious, tender beef and lamb served up over carrots and rice. And the portion size was HUGE! Husband and I split a plate of manti--big, tasty dumplings reminiscent of pierogis or vareniki, except bigger--and they absolutely hit the spot. The cheese served with them was the perfect complement. Husband got the lamb kebab and let me try a piece. It was perfectly seasoned and tender, exactly what I want out of a good kebab. It came out served on a huge, sword-like skewer with a little aluminum foil at the end so you don't burn your fingers. There were a few quirks that weren't enough to detract too much from the experience but are worth pointing out. There were wine glasses on the table...which I thought was curious as the place is halal. That is to say, no wine. (Not that I'm complaining! I'm happy with tea and water, thank you.) Is there another drink on the menu that's best housed in a wine glass? Also, my plov came out first--as in a few minutes after I ordered it--but it took a relatively long time for my husband's kebab to come out. In the meantime, I was happy to share my plov, which was big enough in portion to satiate both of us. It made me wonder if mine came out so fast because they had it all ready to go, or if it's meant to come out first like an appetizer and be shared with the table. Ah, well. One other thing of note: their prices are very reasonable, but they did charge a small service fee, too small to qualify as a tip. You'll want to add something on top of it when you pay. Overall, a great experience and an excellent addition to the neighborhood. Go eat there!

We ate here early last month. This is hands down THE best Uzbek restaurant I've tried so far! You've got to try their Plov--both the lamb and beef are superb! The service was great and I loved the ambiance too, especially with the cozy curtains around each table booth.

Meh. Food was good but not remarkable - lagman was as expected, but I'd been looking forward to some pumpkin manti which was not on the menu. Service VERY inattentive, and food took FOREVER, which was confusing. The only other guests spoke very little English but were more than generous with the Ketel One they brought (snuck?) in, so that helped pass the time (even if it was more than a little creepy and definitely not halal).To be fair , it was a Monday afternoon and the owner appeared to be getting some unwelcome attention from the fire department in regards to his tandoor (sp?). I'd give them another shot during regular dinner time, in the hopes they'd have it more together.

Food is great I love Uzbek food, service is good I mean it could be better we went for a friends birthday there was only one server but he was good overall ambiance was very quiet with some music from Uzbek culture I loved the strawberry homemade juice I wish you guys the best I love when there's a new halal business in the city

The decor inside looks very upscale. The prices of everything are reasonable. Food was very flavorful. There were a few things they do very well and some things that I didn't care for. To start, you get complimentary fresh hot bread, cucumbers, tomatoes and onions. You want to make a sandwich and add all the veggies plus salt and pepper. So good! The pepper on the table isn't black pepper, it's cayenne and I love that. If you are coming to an Uzbek restaurant Plov is an absolute must order, and they do it very well. I'm not too into rice dishes but I didn't leave a single grain on that plate. And the lamb shank you get, I was sucking the bone to get every ounce of meat. Absolutely fantastic. The fried lagman was also very good. Tender and spicy noodles with soft beef. We also got the lagman soup but there wasn't any noodles, even though the description said there would be. Otherwise, it was good. Nothing amazing but def comforting in a cold day. The last two items we ordered we did not really care for much. The manti is big beef dumplings with yogurt and the beef itself was too fatty and chewy for my liking, I wouldn't order it again. We also ordered the mini dumplings which was better than the manti but not much flavor. I wouldn't order the dumplings again. There was only one waiter for the whole restaurant and he did a good job being attentive to us. Overall I enjoyed trying this Uzbek place and worth trying this underrepresented cuisine!

The food was really good. Meat melts right in your mouth. Service was amazing comes with complementary bread and salad. Really good in my opinion.

Here's the deal, issue 1- a service charge is automatically added to your bill, not sure what its for, i paid cash and ordered delivery, and tipped well, i think the service charge drove up the bill atleast 10%, in addition to the tax and delivery. So you order a few things its lets say $60 bucks after all that it comes to like $90. Not worth it and wont order again, honestly i felt ripped off. Just change the prices on your menu and put it into the food. The plov- the national dish was really good, the rest of the food was ok, not great, Jizbiz lambchops were cooked too low and not charred and rubbery, the home made bread was a day old. Place is a nice place. staff is very nice, and food is cooked fresh. so if it wasent for that i would order again.

Food and service is good but they charge an additional 10% on top of your bill for "service fee" which is supposedly "for the chefs." It's aside from tax and tips which makes no sense. Our bill total was $67 and after all the fees, tax and tips it came out to about $93.. Definitely going to be my First and last time here

Just ok food. Pretty place. Went a bit after they opened. A scam on the bill. The charged 2 taxes plus wanted a gratuity. When U asked what the 2nd tax(or gratuity ) was...the waiter told me...IT WAS FIR THE KITCHEN STAFF!! HECK NO. Guess they didn't think I would check the bill. Tried to get away with an additional SERVICE FEE. SO...BEWARE!@

The food here is authentic and amazing. The service is amazing. If you ever want to eat authentic Uzbek food. DEFINITELY coming to this place again.

My husband wanted to try this restaurant. I had high hopes since the decor looked upscale and chic. However, the food is underwhelming. The menu is limited. I had the chicken Kabob. It lacked seasoning. I won't be returning.

We went to dinner at this cute beautiful new Uzbek restaurant in our neighborhood 73rd st and 3rd ave. The restaurant must have opened only a few weeks. Our waitress was very nice and told us all the food is cooked fresh to order so the wait is a bit longer. We never had Uzbek before so this was a nice adventure. Our appetizer was 5 Chicken wings kebab with raw onions over it. It was lightly seasoned with a side sauce of tomatoes and herb for $7.99. It was good but if it was charred more, it would have been perfect. We ordered 2 main dishes. The menu is limited for now, maybe when they get more business, hopefully they will have a wider selection. My main dish was Uzbek Plov $18.99 a giant size dish of delicious pieces of seasoned beef mixed with lamb chunks over rice and carrots. The was sooo good and filling, I can't believe it's only $19, definitely I'll be back for that! It comes with a small fresh salad of ruby red juicy tomatoes and cucumbers and thinly sliced red onions and fresh baked Uzbek bread. The other dish we had was Jiz Biz grilled seasoned lamb chops. There's only 4 lamb chops over a bed of French fries for $27.99. That was the most expensive dish on the menu. The chops was perfectly medium well cooked, and tender. Everything was priced on the low side for a Bay Ridge restaurant! This will become one of my favorite restaurants in Bay Ridge, I just hope it doesn't get too crowded once the word is out about this wonderful new Resturant. I would definitely invite my friends to eat with me at this restaurant.
