Staff and chef were amazing! I originally ordered take out, but knowing that it was a 50 minutes wait to receive my online order, I kindly asked the staff if it was possible to change it to dine in. They were kind enough to seat me right away even though they were really busy with orders before mine. I didn’t mind the wait since it was just me experiencing a solo sushi experience for the first time. Being new to the eastern side of California, the uni at this sushi bar was amazing! The uni MELTS in your mouth. (Reminder: my order is originally for take out) I had the sashimi bento and that was amazing! Everything was amazing! They had this wasabi on the side that was mixed with a little minced garlic and that paired with the freshness of the raw tuna sashimi was perfect! I ended up putting the wasabi and minced garlic on almost everything. Atmosphere The restaurant was very straightforward. There weren’t any tables, only seats around the chefs. Seating is very limited. Menus They have two different menus. One is strictly for takeout and the other is to dine in due to them serving raw and premium fishes. I sincerely thank the chef and the staff in making my first solo sushi experience amazing.

Hidden gem and one of my favorite spots. This is my feel good place to treat myself. Each piece of sushi from the omokase menu is immaculately delivered. The phenomenal touches like lime zest or truffle oil or roasted garlic chip adds such an enjoyable flavor profile. I've never once had a piece that didn't melt in my mouth. Sooo good! Tony is my favorite sushi chef!

This was our first visit. The restaurant located in the Haven City food court and only has a sushi bar, with no tables inside. You can order to go and eat in the food court dining area. Omakase is the only thing available at the sushi bar. I was with five others, and not everyone eats sushi, so I almost canceled our reservation. I'm glad I didn't because their omakase was the best I've ever had. Each piece had a unique taste, and one was even smoked, which was amazing. For those who didn't want sushi, they made a couple of rolls and wraps in the kitchen, but they had too much rice, and the guys didn't like them. My husband and I are excited to return for the omakase.

The Omakase was so amazing! Worth. Every. Dollar. !! 🍣 And the sushi chef was so friendly and informative about every piece of fish he served us. Will definitely be back!

Google
Quick and delicious omakase during lunch! Great service from the wait staff and the chef preparing the food. He told me about each piece I was having. The salmon belly was amazing. I didn't know halibut could be this food. The sashimi halibut piece has a nice crunch to it and the halibut fin had all that fatty goodness. I was pleasantly delighted by the albacore smoked with wood chips; fantastic aroma and show! I highly recommend dining in if you're in the area!

This place is a hidden gem. The Omakase "chefs choice" is the way to go premium version is 13 pieces of perfectly crafted with intense skill and stability. These amazing works or art are presented to you on traditional sushi plate ware, and your mouth enjoys the work of art. The chef is extremely skilled and knowledgeable the staff wait on your every need. If you haven't been struck with the opportunity to get here do it fast. This is a must have located at haven city market they only seat reservations. But I have been lucky before and snuck a seat. If you would like a real sushi experience this is the spot.

Google
One of my favorite omakase experiences to date! Every piece of fish was amazing! I had the Premium course dinner and was afraid I would still be hungry afterwards, but I was stuffed (in a good way) at the end. The chef was great and we had a nice conversation with the owner, Daniel. Will definitely come back!

Yelp
5 stars! Excellent fresh delicious sushi at a reasonable price. Always got it to go but the servers and cashier are all really nice and provide great customer service. Would love to sit down and try omakase when I have more time.

Yelp
Super disappointed with my visit to Shokunin. I was really looking forward to trying the sushi bombs I saw all over their Instagram and TikTok--they looked amazing online. But in person, it just didn't live up to the hype. I placed my order at 8:00 PM for three sushi bombs/inari and didn't get my food until 8:50 PM. Nearly an hour wait for something that should've been quick. I didn't even complain--I just went up to ask for a water refill since it was really hot inside. That's when they finally apologized for the delay. I mentioned that I saw two people who ordered after me get their food before me, and the guy said it was because another customer had a big order. That didn't really make sense--why would that delay mine if I ordered first? He apologized again and offered an extra sauce for free, which honestly didn't make up for the wait. What made it worse was that it wasn't even busy. Just one person waiting and two people inside. Meanwhile, the cashier and one of the staff were just chatting and laughing while I sat there waiting. At one point, someone sitting near me actually asked if the food was good and mentioned they noticed how long I had been waiting--especially since my friend, who ordered at the same time, had already gotten their food way earlier. By the time my food finally came out, I honestly wasn't even hungry anymore. I still gave it a try, but the presentation looked rushed. Overall, not worth the wait.

Yelp
I don't do reviews usually, but I never knew we we had this really really good high quality sushi place near my house but supposedly this spot has been here for 5 years and I never heard of it? (I think people think because it's in Haven market it's like a mall, but they don't realize in other cities there are high-end even Michelin level restaurants in these high food markets) Or I never seen on yelp? But after I ChatGPT asking for the best sushi place 25 miles or less found out this is five minutes away? Did Omokase style and was amazed that it was an experience I could have thought only possible in OC or LA that's 5 min from my house here in Rancho? Perfect 16 year anniversary date night. Best hidden secret in Rancho Cucamonga and dead on a Saturday night means no long waits!

Yelp
Shokunin is a hiddin gem. My bf was recommended by a friend so we came here to eat. We both got the 13 course omakase. Everything was so well prepared. The fish was so fresh and the flavors were immaculate. Each nigiri had it's own special taste to it. The fish melts in your mouth and leaves you wanting more. The chef was so sweet too and explained the things that we were eating. The only downside of this restaurant was that it's inside of Haven City Market. It was so loud so the experience didn't feel like a true omakase experience. Thank goodness, they put us towards the back side so we can still eat and have a converation. Besides that, everything was so good. :)

Yelp
Got here 10 min before my reservation time. I was seated & the hostess took my drink order. I just got water & placed my order - 13 piece omakase. I sat there, waiting & waiting & no one accommodated me. There was only 1 sushi chef at the time. She was busy, but the least she could have done was notified me she'll be with me in a moment or that they were waiting for the other sushi chef to come in. This is the second time I have encountered this kind of service (with the same 2 sushi chefs!) (the first time I left because I didn't get any service once seated). This time around I waited about 20 minutes before being served. Once the male sushi chef came in, he didn't even say hi or introduce himself. He just started making the sushi. No interaction with the customer. His service was fast. I timed my service & got all 13 courses in 20-25 minutes. Ofc I didn't eat the last few pieces right away because I was trying to pace myself. I've noticed the service is different with the sushi chef that you get. There is one sushi chef I like in particular. He always interacts with me during my service & explains the different kinds of sushi / fish I'm eating. I understand this place can get busy, like today on a Friday, but I think they should take a look at the reservations & schedule the sushi chef's accordingly so they don't keep customers waiting. Isn't that what the reservation system is for?

Yelp
Located inside the Haven city market, small little sushi spot. Fire sushi, chefs were great as well. You'd expect it to be mid inside a place like haven city market but nahh , certified. If you order alchy, make sure you give the chef some like you should. Could have wait at times since spot is small, plan accordingly.

Yelp
I was at Haven City Rancho Cucamonga to pick up dinner for both my daughters. I walked past Shokunin so many times, but never once went inside. I finally took the opportunity to try them out. Dine-in is for a specific dining experience. Take-out is done on the outside of the restaurant front. The young lady who took my order was very pleasant. Please note they are cashless. Well, I ended up getting two sushi rolls, Rainbow Roll and Fiesta Salmon Roll. Both were so very delicious. Sushi rice was soft. Fish was fresh and succulent. Rolls were above average size. Prices are a bit higher than most sushi places. I would return here to try their other rolls like Shokunin Roll and Haven Roll. I may even dine-in just to experience it. Thank you Shokunin!

Yelp
My partner brought me the nigiri set which was priced at $35. I didn't expect much, given the location, but the fish was fresh and flavorful. Delightful. He did mention it took them about 30 minutes to make. When we went in-person, you're told by the host that there is a separate menu for eating in versus eating out. Kind of makes sense, given the amount of space inside is ...cozy. So I went with the Omakase experience, which entrusted the chef with ingredients and presentation. I chose the 13-piece course, informed them of my allergy, and had a water as I watched the chef work. Although, cant necessarily see their process as the bar was higher than how i was seated. The sushi chef was friendly and informed me of what each piece was prior to serving. Like they highlight, soy sauce is not needed, but ginger is great for cleansing the palate in between each course. Overall, it was an enjoyable experience, even with the background noise in the rest of the marketplace. At times, it was a quiet eating experience. My favorite course was the scallop pink salt with lemon juice. Unfortunately, I did get a piece of bone in my black snapper with ube sauce. I would agree with other posts that it is a bit cluttered in there, but seems inevitable with how small the space is. Overall, if you're a fan of nigiri like I am, it's worth trying their Omakase experience....or getting the 8 piece set to go.

Yelp
My family booked a reservation for dinner and they had the seats already reserved at the sushi bar. Cute seating for such a small space. It's a bit rowdy though since it's inside Haven City Market. Phone service in the building is a bit shoddy but you can connect to the WiFi code they provide you at the table so that you can scan the QR code for the menu. We ordered the 13 piece omakase. Fish was fresh and lovely presentation for everything. They do like to put zest or torch on quite a few of their pieces. Not bad for the price of $80 per person.

Yelp
Wow! What an amazing sushi shop located inside haven city market. We tried two rolls and both were so delicious and fresh! Comes with the traditional soy sauce, wasabi and ginger. Flavors were clean, a refreshing snack that was just right for sharing. Service was welcoming and helpful. Really enjoyed it! Would definitely return. Free parking available in large lot, you can choose to dine inside or there's also community tables, low tops or patio seating.

Yelp
ORDERED: 13-piece omakase for $85 FOOD: The food was fresh and delicious. Some of the items included chutoro, salmon belly, escolar, albacore, scallop, and unagi. The menu can vary depending on the fish gathered that day. SERVICE: Amazing! Peter and John were so friendly and so careful in explaining everything. We came on a Tuesday night so it wasn't busy at all. This was our first omakase experience and Peter really helped to make sure it was one to remember! VIBES: The restaurant is inside the Haven City food hall so overall casual vibes. The seating is the u-shaped bar with the chefs in the middle. They mentioned specialty rolls are for the take out menu only. PARKING: Easy to find parking since it's in a big lot

Yelp
I came here with my mom for my birthday dinner and we chose to have the omakase dinner that was offered. It was honestly a fun experience especially for the price! The chef was very kind to us and kept a fun conversation with my mom about sushi and his experience as a sushi chef. He also just so happen to know a sushi chef in our area which was cool! The sushi was honestly amazing! The variety of the 13 courses were unique and so so fresh! Every single sushi piece just melted in my mouth and I just wanted to have more! For it being in the Haven City Market, it still felt very intimate and it was very enjoyable. Thank you for a wonderful experience!

Yelp
Quick and delicious omakase during lunch! Great service from the wait staff and the chef preparing the food. He told me about each piece I was having. The salmon belly was amazing. I didn't know halibut could be this food. The sashimi halibut piece has a nice crunch to it and the halibut fin had all that fatty goodness. I was pleasantly delighted by the albacore smoked with wood chips; fantastic aroma and show! I highly recommend dining in if you're in the area!

Yelp
One of my 3 favorite sushi places in Rancho so far. Nigiris were fresh and good service. On my second visit i tried the Omakase and for sure i can recommend it.

Yelp
This hidden gem inside a bustling food mall took me by surprise. It offers an authentic, traditional dining method with limited seating (maybe 15 chairs? - reservations recommended). While the front window serves hand rolls and more "American-style" sushi rolls to-go ONLY, the inside seating is dedicated to the personalized omakase experience (chef's choice tasting menu). Having enjoyed several omakase style meals, even in Japan, this spot stands out as one of my favorites. Food (5/5): I chose the Premium 13-course Omakase, which delivered exceptional presentation, complex flavors, and skillful service for just $80 per person. Highlights included bluefin otoro with fresh wasabi, salmon belly with lemon pepper/miso, smoked albacore topped with chili, Japanese scallop, and seared escolar with truffle and garlic chip. Service (5/5): Our omakase dinner was carefully created by John, with a great personality and even greater deliverance with his flavorful craft, we were left extremely satisfied and impressed with this celebratory meal. (Anniversary date night!) Ambiance (5/5): Some people may be confused or frustrated with their restaurant setup/location, but my takeaway was that it really built positively on the experience. A (mostly) private, delicious dinner in this traditionally themed tiny restaurant tucked away in the middle of a bustling food mall keeps the energy high but the atmosphere personable. You just need to understand this style of restaurant and let them handle the rest.

Yelp
I feel bad for saying this because I was so hopeful, but I think this place is a little overhyped. To preface - I am absolutely one to splurge on a good Omakase if it's worth it. I may be a little bit pickier having lived in SF for the past few years and frequenting a lot of sushi bars up there, but I recently moved back to my hometown and have been on the hunt for sushi in the IE that hits. The ambiance itself is actually really nice. I like the intimate sushi bar experience and I think they capture that well despite it being inside of Haven City. I did a chefs choice nigiri which was 8 pieces and $35, not horrible pricing for a chefs choice. I'm gonna be honest, I was a little disappointed in the nigiri. Some of them tasted like it had been sitting out for a bit. And not as high quality as I would've hoped for some of the nigiri. Something about the rice texture was a little off too - a bit too grainy for nigiri imo. The chef also forgot to tell me what each of the fish was so I had to call her over and ask. Not that big of a deal, but you don't know what you're getting when you order a chefs choice so it's good to know what you're about to eat. I did come on a slower day, so that definitely could've affected it since they probably weren't putting out fresh rice as often as they might when it's busier? I'm willing to give it another shot tho and hopefully change my mind - maybe try their takeout or come back on a busier day.

Yelp
Located inside Haven City Market in Rancho Cucamonga is my favorite sushi restaurant - Shokunin. I routinely order their amazing take-out offerings, but I have not dined in and enjoyed their Omokase since BC (Before COVID). For those unsure - Omakase - "Oh-Mah-Kah-Say" | A form of traditional Japanese dining in which the guests entrust the choice of ingredients and presentations of their meal in the hands of the sushi chef. Their intimate dining area offers a respite from the enjoyable bustle of Haven City Market and its many dining experiences. The meal was amazing. Each piece provided a unique taste that enhanced the flavor of the sushi. I will not wait so long to get back again.
google avatar

Courtney M.

Yelp
Such a unexperienced! The food was delicious, the service was wonderful, and they were so helpful with all of our questions. It's a really cool private restaurant with Omakasa style eating you get to order from a couple menus and they give you your own sushi chef who prepares for you either a tasting or 13 course tasting. Definitely a fun experience will be back!
google avatar

Maxwell L.

Yelp
I got the premium omakase course and I would say that if it was based on taste alone, the meal would easily get 5 stars. Each piece was given its full attention and I appreciated all the various flavors that were imparted in unique ways from aging to smoking. However, unfortunately due to the restaurant being confined in a food court, the atmosphere takes a serious hit. While the little cubby itself is cozy and intimate, it's hard not to notice the blaring music and foot traffic happening outside. I wish there was a little more separation from Haven City Market. Also the service I hoped would be more interactive. The sushi chef only really meekly announced the ingredients and rarely interacted with us hungry eaters. Maybe it's just me, but I think half the fun of good omakase is the performance, interaction, and connection you make with who's making the food in front of you.
google avatar

CJ R.

Yelp
As someone who only likes cooked food, this is my favorite sushi place. I always come here when I'm at Haven City Market to order the Baked Lobster Roll. They use langostinos, bake sauce, masago (fish roe) and eel sauce, on top of California rolls. So it's a better California roll, and they don't skimp on the meat, either. If you don't like sweets, then ask for no eel sauce. It's a melt-in-your-mouth heavenly experience. Just a heads up, it takes a while for them to prepare though, like 20-30 minutes. But since almost everything else is fried at this venue, it's worth the wait.

Yelp
Great sushi spot located inside Haven City Market. I know Haven City Market has a lot of great food options, but I didn't know what to expect from a sushi place inside. They have dine-in and take-out options. The dine-in option includes a la carte nigiri and sashimi options plus their omakase. The rolls are take out only. They do have other sets like the nigiri set I ordered and omakase bento boxes. I'm not sure what the difference is between everything. The inside looks like a cute little bar area, but I opted for the take-out option since rolls were take-out only. The server was good about explaining everything. You can obviously eat the take-out around Haven City Market. Like I mentioned earlier, I ordered a nigiri set and also a roll. The roll was pretty good, but I was really surprised by how good the nigiri set was for take-out sushi. Now I'm intrigued by their omakase, would definitely want to try. It's pretty pricy so I maybe wouldn't come too often, but it's definitely worth it for how good it is.
google avatar

Darlene B.

Yelp
This is located inside the Haven City Market food court. I was intrigued by the concept of this handroll so I decided to try it. The idea itself is pretty cool but I think it needs some work on the execution, specifically the packaging. Not sure a rectangular box is the best way to serve this, but nonetheless, it was still pretty good. For this particular dish, the chef decides which protein goes on so I didn't get to select the types of fish I got. Service is pretty quick.

Yelp
We're not from the area and this was recommended by a friend to try. Made reservation and sat at the bar. Shokunin is located in the civic center plaza in Haven Rancho Cucamonga. Reservation is a must. It's a small bar like place to eat, to take your time and enjoy the fresh Omakase sushi served by your chef( ours was Chef Tony). We had a good experience, reasonable price for a 13 course omakase, excellent food and the ambiance was awesome. Come on down and try it - oh and don't forget to have sake or soju ( excellent) lots to choose from‼

Yelp
Place with small took a little while for me to find because it was my first time at Haven city market. I came for the five year where it was 13 courses for $55 Omakase. I'm coming from Orange County so I didn't realize how far this was and how much traffic there would be. I was about 10 to 15 minutes late, but I called and they said that was fine. The chef prepared all the pieces that I was behind when I got there so I could have them at once as he continued to prep prepare throughout. The quality and flavors were good. The portions were small. I don't know if it was because of the anniversary special and pricing or if that's what their regular portions are like. The size of the fish felt like you were going to all you can eat place where they give you smaller portions. I understand why they do that at all you can eat I can expect it but here I was surprised that it was so small. I've never been to a restaurant. The portion is the small again maybe due to the reduced cost for the anniversary. The service was good. I did not like that. There were fly traps in front of my face at high-level to where I was sitting. I understand the purpose. I understand why they have it as empty as it was I shouldn't have been sat in front of very appetizing. I might go again if I'm ever in the area to see if that really is the portion size but this is way too far of a drive for me to drive close to 50 miles. I'm glad I experienced it though. I try a bunch of other places inside the market and this was the best.

Yelp
I doordashed the Choice Omakase Bento and was so surprised with the quality! Every piece was so fresh and delicious, I loved the extra toppings/sauce on each nigiri and complemented the fish well. Definitely will be ordering again or even stopping by in person.

Yelp
Inside the Haven Market. $55 for 13 piece deal. It was a very nice experience. Good quality food and nice employees.

Yelp
Best kept secret sushi Bar in the Inland Empire, in my opinion. Tony knows what he is doing and the quality is always top shelf. I love this place

Yelp
Just stopped at this place after looking it up on Yelp. Walked right in at about 8pm and was immediately served with their full omakase dinner. It punched far above its weight and Peter the sushi chef was great. Go here before you go to Sushi Chitose in Long Beach or Nozomi in Torrance. It's better than both.

Yelp
Came in Tonight for Mother's Day just to grab dinner with Friends! Made a reservation for 4 relatively Easily using Open Table. This is Definitely a smaller Intimate seating Arrangement so Big Parties please be Aware. They offer Omakase and A La Carte as well as Togo. ( we visited Rancho inside of Haven city Market) We opted for A La Carte! We tried nigiri, handrolls, and a Chirashi Bowl! The fish was All Fresh and rice nice and warm. Portions of fish were very Fair. They were a bit Understaffed so we were understanding of the wait times and checking out at the End. Everything was so good! Highly recommend but Be mindful of busy times. The staff were very kind despite a few Hiccups! 10/10 will visit again and try the Omakase.

Yelp
Ive eaten here once but have tried a few times. The one time I actually got their omakase bento it was pretty good, but kinda pricey for what it is. Their restaurant always looks messy and not quite premium with a lot of clutter. I can kinda overlook that if the food was good. It was just ok, with the Haven City Market markup. Then I tried to just order another premium bento priced at $70.00 because I wanted to treat myself. Was second in line and after the person was done ordering, the lady at the register then oeft to go into the kitchen immediately and didn't really come back out for a while. Even the sushi chef said aorry well be with you shortly. She definitely wasnt so I just left. And Ive noticed that this place never really has anyone readily available. The place is messy, inattentive service, and priced high. If this is such a premium place why the messy and cluttered restaurant? Why inattentive service and why the high prices? Make it make sense price wise. I can condone the messy and cluttered restaurant and poor service but while youre charging 70 for a sushi bento....yeah I will be expecting good service. I dont think this sushi place is worth the money or time. It gives generic sushi place but charges MORE than Little Tokyo LA prices. No thanks.

Yelp
This place is a hidden gem! The premium omakase was fantastic. Amazing fish quality and flavor. Highly recommend

Yelp
We opted to dine in and walked in and weren't welcomed at all. Basically it's an amakase place where it's the chefs choice of sushi. So we then ordered take out and sat in the market instead. We got a yellowtail roll, Philadelphia roll, tuna roll, shrimp tempura roll, unagi sushi, and Ikura sushi. I didn't like the sushi rice at all. Was the sushi fresh? I think some of it. When we were driving home with leftovers the imitation crab smelled like canned tuna. Ok they don't put eel sauce on the eel sushi super weird you have to pay 75 cents for it and it was already expensive. Would I return? Probably not honestly. It's a pretty confusing spot. Maybe if this changed.

Helen L.

Yelp
How did this place get 5 stars? I have NEver Ever had Chirashi prepared w chopped up fish like this in my life until yesterday. And no wasabi and no soy sauce either. They charged this ugly this for 40 bucks! Go elsewhere.

Yelp
Reasonable price omakase course, have you tried? This is great for omakase beginners! 1. Halibut sashimi- shiso (Japanese mint leaf), momiji (chili paste) 2. Yelp
The food was really good I would definitely recommend this place to eat at. It feels like you're in Japan. The only thing that I really didn't like was that you had to ask for soy sauce every time you wanted more soy sauce. I wish they would have kept a bottle of soy sauce in front of you.

Yelp
Awesome I had the 8 pieces nigiri set. It's $37. I think it's worth it. Fresh. Found a good place in Rancho can have sushi

Yelp
Updated review after going here 4 times Shokunin tastes and flavors are still pretty good. They do indeed switch up the fish and toppings so it feels fresh. Unagi is still a perfect buttery finish. However, going on an apparently busy Monday night, service and overall experience took a hit. Our chef forgot to tell us what the fish was 2-3x Then when we went on another Monday, the seaperch combo was so bitter. Also don't like the fact that they serve escolar (aka butterfish aka white tuna) which for those uninitiated, can cause GI issues I hope shokunin doesn't cause a downturn

Yelp
A must stop whenever I'm in Rancho! I have been coming here since they opened! Tony is amazing, we won't go unless we're seated with him lol. The omokase is 10/10. They never miss! The spread of sushi has always been so fresh and well proportioned. They always feature different fish depending on season as well! I love their spin on their sushi, super refreshing and unique. Service has always been great and food comes out at a great pace. Everytime I introduce someone here, they always come back!

Yelp
A hidden gem. I would never think to go to omakase in a food court (a nice food court though) but my family and I thoroughly enjoyed the meal. It's great when your taste buds are feeling fancy but your face & body are feeling casual. Delicious pieces of sushi in an intimate setting, and I felt like it was pretty affordable as far as omakase goes.

Yelp
PLEASANTLY surprised that there's actually a VERY good omakase spot inside Haven City Market. Straight to the point - HIGHLY recommended sushi omakase restaurant. Small, cozy, private, delicious, authentic, friendly, and you might even forget that you're in a type of general, open area food market because you'll be too deep into the savory taste of every single delicacy served by the sushi chefs. Located in Haven City Market, parking can be rough during rush hours so best to go early and avoid the stress. Reservations can be made via Open Table app. Accommodations are difficult with babies but the staff here is very helpful and make it work for families. If you're not familiar with omakase - don't be afraid to try it! It's a fun and memorable experience where sushi chefs will simply make a course of their own specialized selections. You don't get to choose what you want - that's the best part. Relax, sit back, and enjoy not having to think. Just eat! You'll have a wooden tray in front of you. Keep that clear as your chef will place each sushi on it as your omakase course goes on. Don't want omakase? Don't fret! Feel free to select your own sushi at your convenience similar to any other sushi restaurant out there. Biggest tip I can share for omakase newcomers - do NOT dip your finely presented sushi into any sauce. Don't use soy sauce or any other sauces that aren't served with your specialized sushi. Sushi chefs will prep it perfectly as intended, so my best advice is to simply eat it as it's served. Don't add or take anything away from it. Enjoy the wholesome of each sushi at this spot - these sushi chefs know what they're doing and they've already applied each sushi's unique ingredients to elevate your omakase experience! I'll be honest, I had low expectations for an omakase spot located in an open market as I'm typically familiar with these being more private, isolated, hole in the wall scenery, and outside of Rancho Cucamonga. From the first bite to the last, my family and I were SHOCKINGLY surprised at how succulent, delicious, and authentic each and every sushi tasted! This place severely exceeded our expectations and it's incredible to know that such an omakase course can be enjoyed close to home! As usual, we started off with a warm dive into hot sake. It was beautifully served in small cups of koi fish and we enjoyed every drop. For omakase, we went with the premium course of 13 pieces, and each sushi served did NOT disappoint. If you're super hungry, just enjoy the course, submerge yourself into the experience, and if still hungry there're many other options in the food court of Haven City Market. Staff was fantastic, service was prompt and friendly, reservations were easy to make via Open Table, parking was simple in the early hours, sushi was authentic and may delicioso, sushi chef was down to earth and excellent, and their cozy ambience allows you to forget you're even in an open food market! Hands down highly recommended sushi omakase. I've had the fortunate opportunity to experience a Michelin Star sushi omakase and I must say, this spot may be close to Michelin Bib Gourmand!

Yelp
My wife and I went here for date night on a Friday. We were seated promptly, and our server was extremely courteous and attentive and knew the sake menu well. He brought us 3 sales and guided us to the perfect one. We opted for the premium Omakase for two, and we thoroughly enjoyed the dinner. Our chef, John, was very interactive and described all the dishes to us. The dinner was amazing! Each course was beautifully prepared and perfectly balanced with the previous and following courses. One of our favorites was the black seabass, another course that had crispy garlic, complemented by truffle oil and a course featuring three different types of citrus. Honestly, everything was delicious and this was my favorite sushi experience in years. As a pleasant surprise, they even offered us an uni course at the end of the meal on the house. The entire staff was extremely nice and professional. I can't believe a place like this is located in Haven City Market. They could easily charge $300 per dinner in Hollywood for their Omakase. While it's not cheap at $80 per person, I consider this dinner a superb value for what we received. If I could give this place a sixth star, I would!

Yelp
I've tried this place twice now so I feel like I can give it a fair review. I am not sure what the omakase sit down experience is like but this is for my take out orders. The first time I had the sushi bombs. The photos looked super appetizing but when I actually tasted them, I could only think of one word. FISHY... and that's never a good sign for sushi. I gave this place another try recently and ordered the spicy tuna and yellowtail roll for $17.95. I forgot the name but again my partner and I were hit with that fishy taste again. No mater how many sauces you try to cover the fish with, when it's not fresh, it's not fresh. That's unfortunate but for the same prices, you can just hit up the other plethora of sushi places around. I don't know if they save the good stuff for omakase but the take out fish is not it.

Yelp
This is the most disappointing omakase experience I've had. I had high hopes for what seemed like a hidden gem but should have known that premium omakase for $75 was too good to be true. Not only did our omakase chef minimally interact with us, but we also noticed he was wearing a ring and no gloves which doesn't seem to be the best food safety practice when directly handling food. Overall, the quality of the fish was pretty subpar and sliced thinly. We felt that, at times, the lack of freshness of the fish was disguised using the blowtorch, sauces, and garnishes. The halibut was pretty stringy and we even found small pieces of bone embedded in the fish. The ootoro had large stringy sections as well and was not buttery soft. Everything else was passable enough but not comparable to nicer restaurants and a far cry from Michelin star omakase like other reviewers mentioned.

Yelp
My wife and I dined at their new location in Redlands. It was the best sushi we've had and it's so much closer to our home. The owner Daniel and his team are super friendly and attentive. We chose to try omakase for the first time and our food was amazing. The chefs are very knowledgeable and they make every bite full of flavor. It's located in the lower level of the Redlands food market and it's like a hidden away oasis. They don't have a Yelp up for the new location yet but once they do I plan on posting again there. This is our new go to spot for sushi.

Yelp
i was looking for a omakase in the IE for a special day and found this. Upon arrival i was kind of stunned to see that it was in a food plaza but i was pleasantly surprised.!!!!!!I highly recommend coming here for omakase! i opted for the 13 item premium course for 80$ It was more filling than i anticipated and the fish was exquisite with the finest quality. every bite i took was savory , buttery and smooth. I will definitely be coming back . The chef was also very informative so i knew what i was stuffing down my mouth. Despite not usually choosing fish like albacore , theirs was very delicious and changed my perspective . Overall price is worth it , service was great and DONT BE OFF PUT BY THR LOCATION It's actually very nice because u can get drinks or dessert after as well!!! DO NOT HESITATE TO COME AND I WOULD SAY PLACE RESERVATION

Yelp
have you ever had a sushi chef ASKED you for free sake? usually, the customer buys/enjoys the sake and at their discretions, sometimes, they would ask if the sushi chef would like to have some. NOT HERE. we sat down, ordered the sake, waited for at least 5 minutes without getting any attentions so we were just drinking sake on our own and chatting away... finally, the chef gave us some gingers and said hello... first course finally came and what came also? the chef put his sake cup on the counter and said 'sake!' my friend complied... I was puzzled and asked my friend 'did you ask him if he wanted some sake?' nope... he asked for it. and did it happen only once? NO! at the end of the meal, he again spoke loudly while he put his cup in front of our counter 'sake!' - that was the last shot of our sake. the meal itself was ok, some pieces had too much unnecessary oil/seasoning, since it was at a food court, there wasn't any 'ambiance'... the whole place had a very strong fishy smell at times... at least the chef remembered I did not want wasabi the entire night. I would not go back.

Yelp
Updating my review because it's been a couple years and this is still the best sushi in the IE hands down. I can't recommend this place enough, and I love bringing friends and fam here because they always leave impressed. I always look forward to uni and unagi, but anything Tony decides to make is going to taste amazing. I haven't had one bad meal from here ever, even if it was just take out on a random weekday. They expanded their drink list with a variety of unique and familiar offerings. The only thing they need is some chamisul fresh.

Robert C.

Yelp
Overpriced DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM HERE bought a unagi and salmon skin hand roll both were in prepackaged nori (reasonable) but both were 3 inches long and 1 1/2 wide for 32$ if your paying 9.90$ for 2 salmon sashimi you are getting robbed go somewhere else for sushi anyone that has a positive review is more than likely a bot ,food itself was 6/10, the service was 4/10

Yelp
Our group decided to treat ourselves to a nice lunch and my friend suggested a temaki & nigiri bar in Haven City Market. I took the initiative and made a lunch reservation via OpenTable, although it turned out to be unnecessary since there were only two parties dining during lunch hours on Saturday. [Parking]: Haven City Market offers convenient parking options with a large and free private parking lot. [Menu]: Two omakase options - basic Course (10 piece course) for $55.00 or Premium Course (13 piece course) for $65.00. Additionally, they also provided a variety of a la carte options to cater to individual preferences. *** Premium Course (13 piece course for $65.00: Our party had bluefin tuna, salmon, hamachi/yellowtail, escolar & garlic chips, sea bream, albacore, amberjack, agedashi tofu, halibut, squid, seared toro, eel (unagi), and spicy hand roll. Each fish tasted fresh and the warm sushi rice was great. Personally, I particularly relished the unagi nigiri since I have a sucker for eel. The whole experience felt like I was being transported into the depths of the ocean. *** The service provided was friendly as expected from an omakase experience. However, like many other omakase meals I've had, our party felt around 75% full by the end of the course. While the overall omakase experience was quite solid and met our expectations, I couldn't help but feel that it lacked a few standout items like sweet shrimp and sea urchin, which would have elevated it to a five-star dining experience.
