I have eaten at Shoryu Ramen many times before and always enjoyed their ramen. Therefore, I was intrigued when I found out they were introducing a new breakfast menu exclusively at their Covent Garden location. It was my first time there and I had a great experience. What is great about the breakfast menu is that it includes dishes influenced by Japanese tradition and others for a more Western taste. There are also savoury and sweet items for you to choose from. I was looking forward to the things I had not had since leaving Japan. Firstly, I had Ochazuke (お茶漬け) which is a type of Japanese comfort food. It is made from cooked rice soaked with green tea and various toppings added on top. I had salmon and seaweed flakes with mine and the salmon was cooked perfectly. I then had Mazemen (まぜ麺) which is soupless ramen with raw egg yolk, pork belly and various toppings. Instead of broth or soup, you mix the uncooked ramen noodles with the egg yolk and toppings. This was my favourite, because it was so filling. Of course, I had to have dessert and I chose the Chicken Kara-age Waffle with fruit and maple syrup. Kara-age and maple syrup may sound like a strange combination, but the contrast between the soy marinated chicken and sweet maple syrup was really nice. Even the drinks were delicious. I had a strawberry matcha latte and a kinako (roasted soybean) latte. I particularly liked the kinako latte, which is difficult to find in London and had a nutty flavour. The customer service was also excellent. I was served by Suraj who was polite and professional but also friendly. He checked in with me several times while I was eating, but was never intrusive. I also spoke to the manager and we had an interesting conversation about the new menu and Japanese food in general. The restaurant itself was very clean and well maintained with plenty of comfortable seating. The interior is influenced by Japanese design without being over the top or tacky. I definitely recommend the breakfast menu at Shoryu Ramen Covent Garden if you fancy trying Japanese breakfast dishes or just something different with a Japanese influence. You will not be disappointed.

Delicious breakfast served the Japanese way. Thoroughly enjoyed our breakfast at Shoryu Covent Garden - great coffee and food served in a very welcoming and authenticity Japanese environment. After some deliberation (the staff were really helpful in explaining the menu to novices!) we had the Smashed Avocado Shokupan and also tried two of the Sandos. All looked fab when they arrived and tasted absolutely delicious 😋. The people on the next table had the Karaage Waffle, which looked like a real showstopper, will definitely be back to try that next time! If you're looking for something a bit different to the bog-standard 'breakfast out' in London we would highly recommend. Great value and genuinely fab food.

Tried out their new breakfast menu, overall the whole experience was great. Food tasted good, I do recommend the Kinako latte. I do think they can add an extra slice of toast for French toast with matcha and kinako. We had mixed feelings over the mochi brownie, in my opinion, it was perfect.

The Shoryu in Covent Garden, London was a fantastic find. The karaage chicken we shared was delicious, and the Kirin Ichiban draft beer (listed as locally brewed Kirin Nama on the receipt) stood out for its smooth, exceptional flavour compared to other versions we’ve tried in London. We only stopped in for beer and a snack, but we’re eager to return to sample their ramen. A great spot worth revisiting!

Had a really nice late lunch. Had the signature ramen as I had been craving it for ages and also the octopus balls. They were really nice. Greta staff , great service, yummy food and very clean restaurant. It was quiet which was nice as it was around 3/4pm when I visited .

We had a fantastic lunch at the Covent Garden Shoryu today. Everything from the food to the service (and the air conditioning!) was perfect. We had the karaage with our drinks, and it was tender and full of flavour. The ideal salty crunchy food you want with an ice cold beer. I had the pork donburi bowl, which was the ideal size for me. I didn’t want anything too big and heavy during this heart wave. My son had the tonkatsu ramen and he said it’s the best he’s had in the UK. We both agreed that the pork was seasoned beautifully. Very friendly and quick service, and we got 20% off by showing our theatre tickets. We loved it!

The octopus balls were divine! Loved the broccoli too! All the food was delicious and went well with a Japanese Gin. Good price too.
