"The coffeehouse and roaster is a hidden gem seated inside an old sewing factory on the Westside. The unassuming nook of a coffee shop has a couple of specialty lattes, including matcha and horchata, and offers a curated selection of craft beer and wine. Though the seating is minimal, the ambiance is perfect for a chill study session or casual coworking. Takeout orders can be placed online." - Polly Anna Rocha

This is a vibe. It’s a relaxed welcoming atmosphere off the beaten path, great for studying, meetings, or writing a novel. Multiple spaces inside and outside for enjoying a cup of coffee. The coffee is unpretentious and smooth like velvet. Prices are reasonable. The exterior is unassuming without a lot of signage. The main entrance is on the front, but you walk into a whole different world.

Google
Great coffee spot on the West Side with a cool industrial vibe. The espresso is top-notch, and the Iced Dirty Horchata is a must-try. Friendly staff, spacious seating, and a relaxed vibe make it perfect for working or hanging out.

Hands down one of the best coffee shops I have tried in a while! Those who follow me know I’m chocolate cookie snob! Shotgun House Coffee does not disappoint. Lemon loaf is brilliantly simple. The coffee is good and worth a cup or two. Setting is surprisingly comfortable and well thought out. One can spend hours watching the coffee roaster do its thing. The staff consciously misses the effort to accomplish excellence. If they took 20 seconds to make eye contact and show interest it would elevate the experience and be a complete game changer. In summary the experience left me with great but… Hopefully the customer service improves would love to see Shotgun House Coffee reach its potential!

Google
Probably the best coffee shop in San Antonio. Local roaster with great, welcoming employees. It is a fantastic space for studying, hanging out, or a quick meeting. The coffee is consistently great. The baristas know what they're doing. In addition, their rotational menu always has a fun twist!

Google
It's a wonderful atmosphere at this coffee house. The baristas are welcoming and happy to serve. The music is an awesome mix and a great addition. Highly recommend this spot

Google
Unsuspecting coffee shop in an old warehouse. The coffee was good (plain/black) and so was the bean & cheese taco. There were less plants inside than displayed on other photos online. Not a make or break detail necessarily, but I love plants and was hopeful to have more around me. But plenty of seating to get work done. I think there is an outdoor area as well, but I didn’t have time to explore.

Google
Lovely atmosphere and kind customer service, the coffee was some of the best I'd ever had. I usually like to try a latte when I go new places..very basic I know..however, this was one of the BEST latte's I have ever had- it was not bitter, it was creamy, just brewed perfectly! I would love to go back and buy a bag of coffee from them! 10/10 recommend if you're nearby!

Google
finally tried this place out after many recommendations on mother’s day. was really excited but immediately was turned off by your older female baristas awful customer service this afternoon. my husband asked for a drink and she immediately cuts him off sharply saying “we don’t have that” and then looking over the menu for another drink she hears him talking and says “did you say something?” like if he’s a bother? what happened to “oh sorry about that we don’t have it, here’s another drink i recommend” etc there was nobody else in line and its mother’s day and we have our baby here. she ruined the experience with her ugly attitude and i noticed there’s another bad review about an employee of the same description. even making the coffee she seemed visibly annoyed. ironically this employee wore a “BUY LOCAL” shirt, when i most definitely have to think twice about recommending it visiting this local shop again. other shops around sa are always big on recommendations or kindness. on the other hand the coffee was great and the place itself is such a nice relaxed laid back vibe, just wished the customer service matched.

Yelp
First time at Shotgun House and we were impressed! Wonderful service and atmosphere. Loved the back outdoor sitting area. My little one Loved the Jenga blocks! The Iced Caramel Wildflower Latte with whole milk was delightful. Very subtle flavors and smooth coffee notes. The Iced Peach Black tea and Matcha Latte were amazing. The S'more cookie is definitely something I'll be back for. The cookie oozes with chocolate and marshmallow. One unique gem of a cookie was the Rose Cardamon Tea cookie, which absolutely rocks. Perfect balance of flavors and beautifully baked. Very much loved the whole vibe, and will definitely be back!

Yelp
This place is really great. I grabbed a bag of beans and a sweater weather latte. Since I've been on a pumpkin latte roll, this has been one of my favorites. Was it 80 out, yes, but when pumpkin season is in you go full pumpkin regardless of the temperature. The space itself is great, so roomy and comforting. Also, the Colombia blend I got is very good. I will absolutely visit again, the next time I'm in San Antonio.

Danny L.

Yelp
the vibe here is so chill and good alt music. Coffee is really good + decent price like 4.5$ for regular iced latte like goals!!! I also had a cheese and bacon danish and it was fine, nothing special but the other treats looks very good! the service was friendly and fast. Parking is on the street but it's a long road so not too bad! Read my book enjoyed the vibes easy Saturday morning for me!

Eddy R.

Yelp
They opened up more room and doesn't feel as small enclosed as it use to. I got their Snoopy seasonal drink and it was nice. I have had their seasonal s'mores latte and was amazed how they nailed it.It is now gone but the seasonal drinks are already nice to have. I pick them over the horchata latte in which is what they seem to be known for. Nice service and never packed so you can get work done here. 3.5 but I'll put it at a 4 as it's not over hype by any means.

Tyler W.

Yelp
I have heard soo many people tell me to try this place and I may have just caught them on a bad day, but I was not impressed. The cold brew was overtly tangy. I worked at a coffee shop for 3 years and know when you steep it incorrectly so I asked her for more syrup and milk to avoid the sour flavor and she told me, "our cold brew is super strong not for people who don't really drink coffee" and I wanted to laugh but I can appreciate dry humor (hoping that's what it was) so it's not that serious. Also, we ordered the dirty horchata -- extremely light in flavor. I questioned if there even was espresso in it and the barista just looked at me crazy. The cinnamon roll was not heated up and was hard as hell and the banana bread crumbled a part every time I took a bite. Overall, I was just soooo sad with this visit because I love a local coffee shop but I have to be honest that this was not it :/

David F.

Yelp
Few people studying. A few people enjoying the Sunday morning together. This place is a hidden gem inside an old warehouse. They serve beer as well if you're puro SA and want a balanced breakfast. Cinnamon roll is worth a mention!!!

Verónica P.

Yelp
The staff was friendly. I wanted a chai latte but they were out. Their matcha latte was okay. I may have ordered an additional pastry but the selection was scant. I may consider a second visit.

Bailey N.

Yelp
Today, some friends organized our own "coffee crawl" and this was our second stop. First of all, I'm excited they roast their own coffee...that's always a "plus" when you're a coffee connoisseur like me. Took a bag home. It's a cute little shop; it's located inside an old dilapidated warehouse (at least on the outside). It's got an industrial meets barn feel. Ya know, ropes holding floating shelves and exposed wooden beams...but in a warehouse. It's probably, ordinarily pretty quiet....but we had six guys in our group. In fact, one lady, I assume a regular, went out of her way to come tell us how quiet the place usually is....and it's not like we were being loud. I honestly think her comment was geared more toward the service, which was more than sluggish. Poor girl was working all alone, so there's that, but it was S L O W! This shop is a little too far for me to just go hang out regularly...and yeah, I'll say it...when it seems there is a bail bondsman on every other corner...you're in an area of town that feels a little shady. Overall...glad I went but I'm not sure if and when I'd ever be back.

Laura F.

Yelp
The coffee is so well made here and all the employees are always consistent with making great drinks. The ambiance is also great for studying or working. I love looking at all the plants and books. Definitely park across the street or in Alazan.

Irene P. L.

Yelp
As out-of-towners stumbling upon Shotgun Coffee House through Yelp, we were initially skeptical as the exterior seemed like that of an old abandoned building. However, don't let appearances deceive you! Stepping inside, we were greeted by a charming open space adorned with lush greenery and various seating arrangements, perfect for leisurely moments with a book or catching up with friends over some delicious java. I opted for the dirty chai latte, and let me tell you, it's easily one of the best chai lattes I've ever had! The blend of flavors was perfectly balanced, with just the right amount of spice and sweetness. In fact, I enjoyed it so much that I made sure to swing by again before heading back to California. If you're in the area and craving a top-notch coffee experience in a unique setting, Shotgun Coffee House is an absolute must-visit. Don't miss out on their incredible chai latte - it's worth every sip!

Veronica H.

Yelp
This place is a hidden gem. I definitely recommend this place for your coffee fix! I will definitely be coming back

Brandi P.

Yelp
Vanilla hazelnut latte 5/5 really smooth, not too sweet Friendly staff 4/5 not over the top but accommodating Atmosphere 5/5 cool little place to hang out. This is part of a complex. There is an outdoor patio, some shops, and a beer brewery as well. They roast the coffee right in front of you. They have stickers.

Alberto M.

Yelp
Typical coffee house vibes. Chill atmosphere, trendy furniture, old building with most original features still in it. It's less than a mile from where I stay so I love the location. The dirty chai latee is really good. They also have a very friendly staff and the service was very fast. Nice little spot to visit on a Saturday morning.

Johanna L.

Yelp
One of my favorite coffee shops in town. Always passes the vibe check & the aesthetic is gorgeoussss. Everyone who works there is super friendly! Literally have never had a bad experience. I love their seasonal drinks but my top 3 go-tos are: dirty horchata + vanilla, matcha with almond milk + vanilla, and cold brew with almond milk + caramel!! Oh I also love their chai lattes!!

Rebecca C.

Yelp
A hidden gem! Shotgun House has really high quality coffee and if you're lucky, they'll have empanadas too. They have a very aesthetic environment inside and share outdoor seating with Vista Brewery which is really nice! I hear sometimes they have live music out there too. Very friendly service. Love this spot!!

Christina P.

Yelp
A great coffee and beverage shop to lounge in! I went in the afternoon with my son and we had a couple of vegan doughnuts, some chocolate milk and a wildflower caramel latte. The overall vibe of the shop is very relaxing! A great place to study, write or meet someone for a drink! I'm hey also have beer and wine for sale if that's what you are going for. The service was wonderful! I felt welcomed and comfortable asking questions. I only saw street parking, but it wasn't crowded so it was simple. From where I parked, the entrance was at the back of a building that looks like a warehouse. Don't let the external look deter you... this is a wonderful place!!

Nechelle S.

Yelp
I LOVE coffee. Honey coconut was on the daily advertisement so i tried it. . No hints of coconut and no coffee buzz but no regrets either. There is also a beer garden in the back with a patio. "Acute doses of caffeine produce mild, subjective psychostimulant effects, which may promote its use. " My go to has always been Starbucks. A Grande raspberry white Mocha with 5 shots of expresso. Hands trembling, then I poop and I'm off for the day.

Amanda V.

Yelp
Cool little spot. We did pass it the first time and had to drive back around so it's easy to miss because Google maps doesn't take you to a parking lot, you park on the street. We loved the old warehouse feel and cute decor inside. My chai was good and my hubby liked his campfire.

Leno L.

Yelp
Love the look and cool little find. Hidden but perfect for little peaceful time and coffee.

Marcos D.

Yelp
Great place to have coffee, cozy, quiet with plenty of parking on the street. The signage could be better-it's in a huge brick building so it's easy to miss.

H B.

Yelp
Hidden gem downtown with epic vibes. Parking can be dodgy, but the coffee and pastries make it worth it. Definitely one to adventure too.

Monica Q.

Yelp
A very nutty and full bodied americano! The service was expedient. Just wish they served in ceramic vessels instead of using single use paper products when we all were drinking there and not to go.

Jaime C.

Yelp
Great coffee in an awesome space/building. They also service other drinks as well as beer! From what I saw they seem to have events in there space pretty often as well, maybe next time I'll be lucky enough to visit during one!

Nephtali V.

Yelp
If you're looking for a trendy and urban coffee shop with a unique atmosphere, then Shotgun House Coffee Roasters is the place for you. The industrial sleek design of the shop immediately transports you to a cool and soothing environment that's perfect for meetings or getting work done. The coffee menu is extensive, and they offer a variety of roasts and brewing methods to suit every taste. My latte was expertly crafted and had a smooth, rich taste with a pleasant aftertaste. The matcha, though strong and in its purest form, is a must-try for matcha enthusiasts. The baristas are friendly and knowledgeable, they take great care in crafting each cup of coffee, and the shop has plenty of seating options and outlets for laptops. The only downside is the parking can be a bit difficult, but the shop's unique location on the side of the road. The only thing I would like to see is more sugar-free options in the syrups they use. Overall, I highly recommend Shotgun House Coffee Roasters for a great cup of coffee in a trendy and urban atmosphere and for a unique experience.

Jay W.

Yelp
Great atmosphere in well-designed space. The barista was personable, charming, and helpful. The chai latte was wonderful-one of the best in town. Will definitely be back.

Austin G.

Yelp
Super trendy coffee spot! It's like in an abandoned warehouse or so it seems! But it really is true it's not always as it seems. We weren't sure what to expect from the outside but the inside was dope. Cool, comfortable seating, chill vibes and good coffee. Priced fairly and good treats if you are in the mood for something sweet to go with your coffee. Pro tip: get a stroop waffle and place it on top of your coffee cup and it makes it nice and warm

Art C.

Yelp
We didn't stay to enjoy our coffee in their expansive outside area. We just got our cappuccino to go. Took a long time too- but overall, probably top 3 of all the roasters we experienced... including all the versions we tried in Austin (which, as you know, is a serious coffee city). Not to be missed.

Chris F.

Yelp
A coffee oasis with beer and wine. Good music, Biergarten out back and super chill vibe. Love it.

Shanice R.

Yelp
What is super cute hole in the wall coffee shop the coffee is amazing they have cold and hot options dairy and nondairy options and they have vegan snacks they also have adult beverages it's just a super cute hole in the wall coffee shop if you get a chance to stop by I definitely recommend doing it it's so worth it

Ana A.

Yelp
Loved, loved, loved the aesthetics of this place! It was a little hard to locate. You just see a warehouse and have to do a double take to see if you're at the right place. You are! I parked along side of the building. You walk along the side till you see the drink fresh coffee wall sign. Go up the stairs there to the big metal door. Something else I had to figure out. Inside is spacious with a modern/rustic vibe. So inviting. There were plenty of tables and some couches to sit. Some wall art, plants and merch. They also have an outside area as well. I ordered an iced vanilla latte. It was a little stronger than what I usually get from coffee shops but that's by preference. I was in and out due to it being near their closing time but vibes alone I will definitely be going back.

Traveling C.

Yelp
Best coffee and probably best customer service I've experienced while in SA. Was greeted from the moment I walked in and the barista was extremely personable. Almost pastry was ok if you're looking for a bite to eat with their coffee. They do a decent job with their baked goods but really excel at coffee.

Eric G.

Yelp
We stopped by for some coffee on a drive through San Antonio. Have to say it is one of the more unique places for coffee in that it appears to be in an old warehouse. But, what you find inside is a very cute and spacious cafe with indoor and outdoor seating. If you're the type to want a place with good coffee and a place to work or study, or just to chill with some friends, this place is perfect! Not sure how parking is though.. we ended up parking across the street on a somewhat busy street... Maybe there's more parking elsewhere? But that's seriously the only drawback i can think of. :)

Yesenia R.

Yelp
So yummy!!! Not too sweet! Perfect iced oat milk vanilla latte! My friends had their horchata syrup and they died.

Shancey J.

Yelp
Coffee is delicious with the right amount of kick. The place is not big but it has the warmest ambience. Placing some books in the shelf where we sat was a nice touch so we're able to browse some while sipping our coffee. Parking is on the street but there were plenty so not really a problem. The baristas here are top notch...friendly and helpful when you ask them recommendations on what coffee to order or what coffee beans to purchase. I purchased the dark roast Brazilian coffee beans and it is fresh as evident in the coffee I made at home. We will be back again!

Angela W.

Yelp
Beautiful place the inside wasn't expected. Enjoyed the vegan strawberry cupcakes and green donut.

Rick S.

Yelp
My wife and I like to try out independent coffee shops to enjoy their uniqueness in flavors and set ups. We were not disappointed! Shotgun is an independent coffee roaster shop, in an old converted building, just a short driving distance from downtown San Antonio. Cute, quaint, and most of all great flavor. Seeing their roaster there I knew I was going to be in for a treat. The barista was very friendly as I questioned her about the place and all the small business in the building. I am glad to see some locals improving the community. Coffee, like wine, has unique spectrum of tastes, not everybody will like all coffees. I have visited and sampled coffees from Korea - Canada - US - all around Europe with that being said, having grown up in San Antonio's West Side, I am proud that Shotgun House Coffee can compete against any other coffee location. The only drawback that I could see in my short visit was limited parking, and a limited morning menu. Even with these drawbacks I was able to park directly across the street and did enjoy a small pastry. This coffee shop is a hidden gem!

Harley E.

Yelp
Dog Friendly! Great staff! Super yummy cold brew! Great spot to hang with friends or the dogs. Quiet outdoor seating. The Adirondacks are so comfy!!!!

Emily A.

Yelp
An absolute hidden gem! Very artsy vibe. Came in on a cold evening for warm tea and coffee with an amazing friend who showed me this spot! Such a wonderful ambiance. We ordered the House-made Chai and an herb tea. Definitely recommend and will be visiting again!

Christine M.

Yelp
One of my favourite - likely THE fave - coffee shops in town. LOVE! Perfect house-roasted beans. They even make syrups, sauces, and caramels in house. Delish! Doesn't hurt that they added beer (nice selection!) & wine, then went all next-level and actually brought a full-on brewery (Vista) into the gorgeous brick building. Nice long hours if operation too - I'm not by *any* stretch of the imagination what you would call a "morning person", so it's great to have awesome coffee available beyond 3 p.m. Chefs kiss!

Michael M.

Yelp
Great atmosphere and chill music. Definitely has the coffee shop feel. I only came in for something chilled and strong for my day

Ron K.

Yelp
Sometimes I amaze myself when I land in a place like San Antonio and you would think I would go straight to one of the fancy tourist destinations to get myself a foo foo $6 coffee drink. No I decide to drive through rain and construction crews through back alleys to an unknown warehouse district that looks to have no life going on but cars wizzing by.. That's what it felt like when I'm walking in the back of this warehouse with an old wooden staircase and rusty industrial metal speakeasy looking entry. Talk about getting local at the get go... Once you exit the craziness of SA and enter this place, immediate things begin to calm to a welcoming environment here. The welcoming smell of fresh beans roasting, a dude mixing up batches of liquid Chai extract, and a a lady making things tidy the fear of thinking Yelp let you down start to dissipate. The baristas here know their coffee and although the menu seemed a bit limiting on first glance, they do have the basics down, with a few items that are unique like having vegan horchata and steamed rice milk. On the other hand they seem to not have a vegan chocolate option so that was a bit of a disappointment. Their chai also is pre-made with sugar so there is no option to modify that one either so not super Keto friendly unfortunately. But they do make a matcha latte that is made unsweetened and with the rice milk option I was intrigued so went with that. They also offer almond and oat as alternatives. Note they only do 12 oz latte drinks and they are not cheap when you figure in an alternative milk is going to drive up your drink cost in the 5 plus range. The drink itself was well executed. They do nice latte art and normally green tea matcha can be a hit or miss if you are adverse to the grass aspect of the matcha powder. Here it's smooth and I really think rice milk works great together with matcha. Love the atmosphere here. They play 80's and 90's music in the background which is fun and it's not too loud so you can study and get things done. Also like that they had plenty of indoor spots open as there was rain and so the outside patio was pretty much not useable. Also like the funky bathroom with the "shotgun" theme San Antonio style. Only in Texas. Oh and I forgot to mention that you can come here and have a beer too. I didn't see any taps but they had a cooler of local beers. Maybe next time will partake. Glad I ventured off the beaten tracks. Always enjoy the local experiences. If you to do so too this might be a fun option. Check it out.

Mimi H.

Yelp
love this cozy coffee shop! got there early on a saturday morning so it wasn't hard to find a table to get my work started. employees were super kind and even other guests were very friendly! i got the lavender white mocha latte and iced dirty horchata and they were both delicious.

Cristal Y.

Yelp
The dirty horchata and the churro donut were definitely memorable and would get that combo again and again. I'm not a huge fan of cake donuts, but this one was def an exception! It was decadent with a generous amount of sugar cinnamon on top. The dirty horchata was also not overly sweet and had a nice coffee to horchata ratio. The shop itself is very open and has it's very own coffee roaster! While I was sitting in the shop, they were roasting their coffee beans and had a few people come up to them. I don't think I've seen another coffee shop in SA with their own roaster, which made for a unique experience. I wouldn't say this was the most conducive studying environment due to the lack of tables and space. In the future, I'd probably only come with friends catch up. Parking looks like it could be an issue because you're essentially parking on a one way road in front of residential homes, but I took my chances and parked.

Taira H.

Yelp
Cool spot to grab a coffee and do some work' I got the maple coffee that's seasonal and I loved it. Overall the atmosphere was cool/ industrial. The service was great and there's a lot of seating.

Gayle S.

Yelp
Shotgun is a solid spot to grab some really great local coffee. As others have stated, initially finding the building and also securing parking can be tricky. Once inside, the layout provides plenty of open space, and a variety of seating options. Although I will say, the only truly comfortable seats are the couches. The other seats are pretty hard and could use some cushions. Most of the customers there when I have went seem to be busy working on something, with a few people just hanging out and chatting. There are several spots to plug in your laptop or phone, so that's always a plus! I have tried the cold brew, bought some beans, and tried the seasonal lattes. The cold brew packs a mighty caffeine punch and has a really bold flavor; it's not for the faint of heart! My husband got the campfire latte, and it was just okay. The graham cracker crumbs were missing, and I think that would have helped round out the s'mores vibe they were going for. I preferred the maple bourbon caramel latte, it was delicious and not overly sweet. I hope this place sticks around, because it's a great spot to grab some caffeine and get some work done!

Deborah B.

Yelp
Hard to find, as it's hidden in the corner of an old warehouse, but worth the effort. Having just moved to SATX from Portland, Oregon, I would offer my perspective as a pretty savvy coffee connoisseur, and this place could easily have been lifted and shifted from the streets of pretty much anywhere in PDX and dropped in San Antonio. It definitely had the same vibe, both good and bad ... Portland java jockeys can be by turns snooty and chatty, and today we got the more chilly shoulder than has been our SATX experience, but no worries! The java was delicious, and I very much enjoyed the decor. There is clearly talent behind the bar; we'll be back.

Stefany V.

Yelp
Tucked into a corner of a large warehouse style building is Shotgun, there is no signage other than "drink fresh coffee" stenciled in black on the red brick exterior so use your GPS. Despite the hidden location, it was busy both times I visited with folks working quietly at laptops. The menu is small but good. They're known for their iced horchata coffee, but I'm more of a hot coffee gal so the barista created a similar hot latte version for me that had hints of cinnamon. They have a small food menu of fruit, sweet snacks, and early-morning breakfast tacos. I enjoy the rustic decor from the push-door to the on-site roaster, with various house plants added in for color- it's a nice spot to sit and work, if you can find a seat!

Drew C.

Yelp
Today was my second visit ever since the first. And the service was still the same as last which was great. Service was quick as well which I appreciate. I got a basic iced vanilla latte and it was good especially when the vanilla doesn't over power the coffee which some coffee shop does. Great experience again and would come back if i'm ever on the side of the town.

Hannah L.

Yelp
First time to the Shotgun House Coffee Roasters and was not disappointed! 10/10 best coffee we've had in SATX. My husband had a well executed flat white, while I opted for a sweet salted caramel latte. Both were exceptional in flavor, technique, and presentation.
