Google
We had visitors from Canada who loved Chinese food. We searched for a Chinese restaurant and we found Sichuan Home with good reviews, but the restaurant opens at 5pm. It was 3pm when we felt hungry for lunch. We searched more for a different Chinese restaurant. None of the others had good reviews or the type of Chinese we were looking for. So, we decided to do another activity and wait till 5pm to eat at this restaurant. We finally sat down inside. The menu had good selection. The menu also was neatly categorized with the type of dishes. We had 4 main dishes: Lamb, chicken in Sichuan pepper, spicy fish and herb spice , and a vegetarian option called Dry mushroom. The food came in less than 5 minutes 🤔. I honestly don’t know how they prepared it so fast. Those 4 dishes needed to cook. Most likely they were already cooked and ready to serve. My mushroom pieces were too big and leathery. When I asked for knife to cut to smaller pieces. They said the didn’t have a knife! They ended up bringing scissors😳. I didn’t like that, but I had to let her cut the big mushroom pieces so I can hold them with the chopsticks and put them in my mouth without having a full mouth or mushroom ends dangling from my mouth! The spicy breaded chicken was like orange chicken. We all agreed that the chicken needed salt. So we asked for salt. The waiter grabbed the dish from our table and brought it back very salty! It was not good before and not good after. The spicy fish, which came on a gas cooktop next to our table looked delicious, but the fish was possibly frozen fish. You would think that having fish at a restaurant next to the ocean would serve fresh fish from the sea, but that was not the case. Bottom line, the only fish that we all agreed was good, fresh, and tasty was the lamb. They also brought sweet rice pieces on the house. The service was very good. The waiter might also be the cook, but I’m not sure. We were the only customer then another couple came in and finished before us. Would I go back again? I don’t think this is the best Chinese restaurant in town. So I’ll try something else next time.

I love Sichuan home but they did poorly both times I’ve gotten takeout recently. Service: they are friendly but they consistently forgot about my take out order and always served many more people before giving me my food. I’m okay hanging out but the latest time I saw 4 tables that came after me get their food before I. I say call ahead and give them like 30-40 minutes, at least. Food: No problem, I don’t mind waiting if the food is good. However, I got the Dan Dan noodles and spicy wontons and these were the wateriest, most bland sichuan food I’ve ever eaten. They were swimming in the same broth with no spice or complexity which is not typical — there was no “Ma” or “La” in either. I could tell the chef just dumped the broth for both and sent it on their way. I usually give a place a few chances in case it was a fluke but im convinced it’s not for me. I’m sure other dishes (not during dinner rush) might be good, but do not get takeout from them. Portion size and value/cost are great.

Very good service and nice menu! All the dishes were tasty, the eggplant was really delicious and not too spicy! Very accommodating hosts!

Google
This place was highly recommended by friends for authentic food. The vibe was so perfect for a cozy dinner at a local restaurant. We got the vegetarian Dan Dan, vegetarian Mapo tofu, veggie dumplings, and hot soy milk. The Dan Dan and soy milk were the best! The tofu was good- tasted standard. The dumplings were okay, we wished there was more flavor in the filling. Overall, would return!

Google
Coming from LA and being Chinese, I find the quality, setting and value of Chinese food in NorCal lacking. Was so happy to find this little gem of a restaurant. It’s nicely decorated and clean. There were interesting and tasty dishes like their chef’s special eggplant and chef’s special stir fry with shredded taro, greens and pine nuts. We also ordered the fish and pickled vegetable soup and duck. All was well seasoned and balanced, felt like clean solid food. The staff was lovely and welcoming. I would say this is one of my favorite Chinese restaurants in SF!

Google
finally tried sichuan home for lunch after hearing the rave reviews and it lives up to its accolades. cozy and comforting environment with the kindest servers, sichuan home feels like an unassuming neighborhood restaurant with amazing food. the complimentary cabbage side dish and fruit dessert were a great touch. would come back! spicy fish & chinese herb spice: the perfect spice level and packed with the mala spice flavor. large portion. highly recommend. garlic eggplant: the perfect side dish leaning on the sweeter side to offset the rest of the sichuan spice. veggie chow mein: standard fare, you know what to expect. fried chicken: don’t remember the exact name but super crispy and perfectly cooked.

Yelp
Sichuan Home in San Francisco is a paradise for those who crave bold, authentic Sichuan flavors. My lunch experience was nothing short of incredible, with each dish showcasing the vibrant and complex spice profiles that make Sichuan cuisine so distinctive. From fiery classics to well-balanced savory options, the menu offered a culinary journey that satisfied every craving. Chongqing Spicy Chicken: This dish was the highlight of the meal! The chicken was fried to crispy perfection, with tender, juicy meat inside. It was generously tossed with dried chilies, Sichuan peppercorns, and fragrant spices, creating that signature numbing and spicy sensation. Every bite was packed with flavor, and the fiery aroma made it impossible to resist. Hot & Spicy Lamb Ribs: Smoky, spicy, and fall-off-the-bone tender, these ribs were another standout. The layers of flavor, combined with fresh and dried chilies, made it a memorable dish. XO Sauce with Cuttlefish: A fantastic balance of umami and freshness, the tender cuttlefish paired wonderfully with the rich XO sauce. The dish had a perfect mix of textures with the addition of crunchy vegetables. Hot Pot with Frogs and Fish Fillets: This bubbling hot pot was packed with spice and flavor. The frogs were tender and rich, while the fish fillets melted in your mouth, absorbing the spicy broth beautifully. A hearty and satisfying dish for adventurous diners. Smoked Duck with Garlic and Chili: The smoked duck was tender and flavorful, with a wonderful smokiness complemented by crunchy garlic and chili toppings. A definite must-try for duck lovers. Braised Mushrooms with Bok Choy: A milder dish that provided a refreshing break from the spice, with earthy mushrooms and tender bok choy in a savory sauce. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, with attentive service that made the meal even more enjoyable. Every dish was thoughtfully prepared and beautifully presented, highlighting the restaurant's commitment to authenticity and quality. Whether you're a spice enthusiast or looking to explore traditional Chinese flavors, Sichuan Home is a must-visit destination.

Yelp
Visited with family at dinnertime on a Monday night to find an almost empty restaurant. We were seated immediately and shortly after us, another family what seemed to be returning guests were seated and the manager/waittress soon came to take their order, as well as ours. We ordered the Couple's Delight, Beef in Special Chili Sauce, Sweet and Sour Pork Spareribs, Fish Filet and Cabbage in Chili Sauce, and a cold noodle with sliced chicken dish, and rice for the table. Our food came at a decent speed and the flavors were all so-so to me. Some dishes, the fish especially, were spicy but not as spicy as I've had at other Sichuan restaurants and I got more of the tongue numbing sensation than tongue-burning, sweating spice. I particularly enjoyed the sweet and sour spareribs, which were more sweet with no hints of sour, and would jump at the chance to order this again. Our dinner came out to a little bit under $100 which I felt was a bit pricey for the portions that were served. Would I come back to try other dishes? Potentially. Would those dishes be the level of spice I am looking for when eating at a Sichuan restaurant? Maybe. But I am in no rush to return.

Yelp
We've been going to this place for at least 10 years and it is still by far one of the best Sichuan restaurants in San Francisco. For my spouse and I, it is our favorite. The food is always excellent, super flavorful and consistently of the same quality. The prices are super reasonable. The service is friendly and fast. This place is legit Sichuan food (I lived in China so I have high standards ), if you are looking for American-Chinese food, I am sure they can do it, but might not be the best. I am surprised this place isn't getting a better rating. Good for us because there is almost never wait time to get a table.

Yelp
Came here with a friend on a rainy Saturday evening! My friend got the Couple's Delight, which was good, but it was a cold dish which he didn't expect. We shared the Chongqing Style Chicken which was very tasty - it was hot, crispy, and flavorful! We were originally going to order the Sichuan Tea Smoked Duck, but our waitress warned us that this is a cold dish & she recommended we get the Spicy Tea Smoked Duck instead. We both found the duck was a bit salty - besides that, the duck was cooked well and the flavors were great! The staff was very friendly and the service was fast - would recommend checking this place out!

Yelp
Not for the faint of heart! The dishes here are - true to Sichuan cuisine - spicy AF. Even the complimentary pickles were spicy! They do have some non-spicy dishes available, so for those looking not to upset their stomach, that is an option (then again, why go to a Sichuan place in the first place?!?). Spicy dishes ordered: preserved egg and tofu, potato noodles, and the spicy fish herb soup. Non-spicy dishes ordered: jellyfish, chow mein, and the dungeness crab with pumpkin. We received excellent service and food recommendations from our waitress, and they even stored the birthday cake for us and provided plating and utensils at no additional fee (we made sure to tip well). Looking to spice things up? Go check out Sichaun Home.

Yelp
Rain had subsided. Mid May. We finished hiking and back from Tennessee Valley. Feeling peckish. I announced I wanted a sandwich and my BFF and hiking buddy said he was not hungry. I love Lou's so off we went to Geary. I stumbled onto this Chinese restaurant a few doors down. Never heard of it but I wanted something warm all of the sudden. Sichuan organ meats in hot chili oil to the rescue on a cold day. The Chinese word for this dish is Mao Xue Wong. Honestly the best I have had inside and outside of China. Superb dish. Excellent for impressing your Chinese friends with. Authentic. Fried intestines is a guilty pleasure of mine. I ate quite a bit of that. Also super Chinese and something I would order all over again. For the whitie friends in your circle - pot stickers and kung pao chicken are decidedly Americanized. This restaurant is small and unnoticeable from outside but a real gem. Best I had since I was in Shanghai for work recently and dined at a fancy Sichuan restaurant on our campus. I would definitely be back with my family and friends.

Yelp
Craving for some Sichuan food and decided to make a trip to Richmond to try this place out. Sichuan home was mentioned in the Michelin guide from 2013-2017 so was pretty excited and had high expectations for the food. THEY DID NOT DISAPPOINT!!!! There was only one server running the dinning area but seems like she got everything under control. Serving the tables and taking care of the Togo orders and didn't seem a bit overwhelmed. She also took the time to ask our spice tolerance and offer to make the dishes we ordered less spicy if we wished. Food was authentic and the Sichuan flavor is very in your face. At the end of the meal, my partner and I were sweating but can't stop because it's so addicting. Our favorite was the green peppercorn fish soup (recommended by the server, as the restaurant is known for their Sichuan fish). The fish is tender and packed with flavors that's somewhat refreshing and not too greasy. Definitely will come back again next time to tryout other dishes that seem interesting!

Yelp
Date: Monday, February 26th, 2024 Meal: Dinner Delivery Party of: 2 Time Ordered: around 7:30pm Time Delivered: around 8:15pm How: DoorDash (DD) Delivered To: Outer Richmond 6. Cucumber in spicy Garlic Sauce 蒜蓉黄瓜 ($12.95) 39. Chongqing Style Spicy Chicken 重庆辣子鸡 - Boneless 无骨 ($18.95) 25. Spicy Fish and Chinese Herb Spice 香水鱼 ($30.95) 114. Pot Sticker (6 Pieces) 锅贴 ($10.95) For some reason I was craving fish. Specifically fish cooked in chili oil. I'm more of a Canto Chinese food girl, but sometimes food in chili oil seems super comforting. Looking around DD, I found Sichuan Home. The hubby doesn't really eat Szechuan food, so he just randomly picked the fried chicken. I typically find this dish more breading than chicken, so I don't normally care for it. This one wasn't any different. Lots of peppers tho, which was nice since I like spicy. The cucumber salad was good. Garlicky and flavorful. Tho I like mine with heat, so I added more hot chili oil. The fish dish was huge! Not that I wasn't expecting it to be at $31, but it came in three large soup containers. The fish itself was nice and moist. I do wish restaurants served this is smaller portions since I can never finish a whole one. I still have 2/3 of it sitting in my fridge. Lol! Great spot to fulfill my sichuan boiled fish cravings.

Yelp
The soup dumplings, the Sichuan Dan Dan noodles and the fried beef was superb! The service here is so good.. our server, she was so funny and attentive and she took our experience a notch higher. We also got a few hot sakes and wine. Everything here was so good! We had such a good time even though this was a dinner with my boss haha! I can't recommend this place enough. This is a big gourmand btw! Come here if you're in SF and love Chinese food.

Yelp
Merry Christmas everyone. Thanks for being open and seating us without reservations! Quality/Quantity - Salted Fish & Chicken Fried Rice - My daughter thought this was too salty, but everyone else liked the flavor. It was a little oily though. #87. Honey Walnut Prawn - Good, but as usual, we would have preferred more prawns #108. Tofu and Broccoli in Brown Sauce - This was a hit with my family. The tofu was tender and the broccoli was steamed well. Crispy and fresh. #132. Beef Chow Fun - Staple item and one of my daughter's favorites. The bean sprouts were a little too generous. Not perfectly proportioned. See picture. #126. Sichuan Style Rice Cake and Brown Sugar - Dessert. Looked way better than it tasted. My daughter said tomorrow she will make this for us at home! Atmosphere - Small local restaurant. The bathroom is in the back through the kitchen, thanks for making this public! I don't understand why and how some full service restaurants do NOT let us use their bathrooms. At minimum, they should offer hand washing stations. Open 7 days a week from 11am to 10pm. Street parking but free today as it was Christmas. Service - 5 stars; the owner was also the waitress. Aggressive with her suggestive selling, but not in a negative way. Suggesting the pork shoulder and crab today, their specials. Huge team working today. Approximately 2-3 people worked the front of the house, and 10 people in the back of the house. Price - $78 + generous tip. Cash discount, but we chose to pay by credit card. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success since 2011. See you next time.

Yelp
This is a great Sichuan spot! The fish stew was the major highlight for me, the broth was so flavorful and the fish was extremely fresh and tasty. A must get. The chongqing spicy chicken was alright, though it wasn't as crispy as I thought it'd be. The string beans were great and flavorful. And the onion pancakes were a good side, tho I might try a different dim sum item next time. The service was great and prices were reasonable for the quality of the food!

Yelp
Excellent and food coma inducing dinner! Came here on a Saturday night with 2 others for dinner, enjoyed a TON of amazing food, and struggled to stay awake the rest of the night. It's a small interior so the wait could be short or long based on how many people are almost done eat vs willingness to stay and wait for a table. They told us 20 min and we were seated around 15-20 min. The food: - Cucumber in spicy garlic sauce: nice and refreshing. I'd honestly recommend getting these mid-meal. Perfect as palate cleansers between dishes - Chongqing Style Spicy Chicken: basically spicy popcorn chicken. Nothing to write home about, but you can bet they were enjoyable to eat! A good crowd pleaser. Would also recommend dipping the chicken into the sauce of other dishes to try new delicious combinations. - Dan Dan Noodles: the noodles were cooked well and the sauce and pork were tasty. Wish the noodles themselves had a bit more flavor, but it you eat them alongside drinking some broth, it's great. They were also super nice about bringing 3 smaller bowls and splitting the dish among us. - Eggplant with pork in garlic sauce: this was honestly my favorite dish. The eggplant was perfectly cooked and the sauce had SO MUCH flavor. I'd say this is a must-get - Spicy Fish & Beer and Chinese Herb Spice: this was actually 2 dishes, the fish and the beef dishes. When my friend asked which they preferred, the waiter mentioned that we could get both combined. I'm glad we listened to them. My preference was the beef, but both were so good- flavorful, spicy, and tender. This is definitely a must-try dish. And the sauce worked very well with the fried chicken! - Salt & Pepper calamari: not the calamari you're used to, but super good nonetheless. The calamari was nice and tender while the breading had a great crunch. Topped with salt, pepper, and garlic! Enjoyed eating by itself, but also dipping into other sauces! Portions here are fairly big so come with an appetite. And I'd highly recommend going with a few people (not too big of a group given restaurant size) so you can try more items family style. We got 1 appetizers and 5 entrees (maybe 6 since the fish and meat were combined) and left with a decent amount of leftovers (which they packed for us) and incredibly full. Will definitely return. Might also order them via delivery if I can!

Yelp
We were in the mood for Chinese food and found Sichuan with the help of Yelp. We were also intrigued by the Michelin ratings. We loved the service as they were very accommodating to my wife's vegetarian and seafood allergy. Our favorite dishes were the Chinese Broccoli, the Pumpkin Sesame Cakes and Spicy Eggplant. We look forward to returning:)

Yelp
Was not expecting much from this unassuming spot but was pleasantly surprised by my meal here. Come here for authentic, reasonably priced Chinese food, without any bells and whistles. Not a destination spot but good, homey option if you're in the neighborhood. My surprise favorite was the pig ear - it was super thinly sliced with a good crunch and sauce. The pea sprouts were also solid. Skip the beef pancakes, there was basically no discernable beef and it was all dough.

Yelp
One of my top go-tos in the area! The bonus is that they open late so I can always rely on a safe, good choice if I want to get dinner late. Sichuan Home is Michelin guide for a reason! Their menu is expansive and dishes are definitely full of spice. Food: 5/5. If they say mala in the dish name, they are not kidding. We got the fish in mala chili oil once and it was one of the spiciest dishes I've had in a restuarant. The fish was tender and juicy though, highly recommend the dish. They also have non-spicy food offerings like the beef ribs. The green beans are delicious with a tad bit of a spicy touch to it. Before the food comes, they serve free appetizers like pickled veggies. Service: 4/5. The waiters there were all super nice and attentive. The vibes are like a typical Chinese restaurant.

Yelp
I was VERY impressed with my experience here!! I had an early-ish dinner at 5:45 and it was empty when we came (which was very surprising for a Michelin Guide restaurant), but that just meant the service was super fast and superb. They even gave a dessert on the house of brown sugar rice cakes! The star of the show is definitely the fish stew. It came with so much fish, which was the perfect flaky soft texture and packed with flavor. I also was a big fan of the Szechuan chicken, again so flavorful and a great crunchy texture. Don't underestimate the vegetables on the menu as well, it was sooo garlicky yum! Cant wait to go back!

Yelp
My absolute favorite Chinese restaurant in the city! They are without a doubt a hidden gem. Cozy, above and beyond service and above all, THE YUMMIEST dishes! We've become their BYOF (bring your own fish) customers for the past year and always leave satisfied. We typically order the BBQ+veggie and Sweet and Sour dish - highly recommend! With this variety you get the savory and sweet! Go visit our gal, Mae. She's delightful!

Yelp
- Cold Sesame Noodles - Ma Po Tofu - Water-cooked Fish - Crispy Chicken - Beef - Cold Potato Appetizer - Water spinach with garlic Overall: -I think this place is Michelin Guide, super delicious! The boiled fish was tender and flavorful, and the beef was well-balanced with slightly sweet, salty, and fresh flavors, as well as a soft texture. - Last but not least, the Mapo Tofu is a classic dish. I think it's one of my favorite Szechuan dishes (potato water spinach is also hard to mess up.) The service is superb, Canto Sf's food is elite, but there are some Sichuan gems, too The environment is a bit small, but very cozy and welcoming

Yelp
Phenomenal and authentic Szechuan restaurant in SF! I made a reservation for 10 people, so we tried a lot of food. My favorite dishes were boiled fish in chili sauce, beef with pickled peppers, and the onion pancake. But, everything was delicious! The service was really good, and the prices were incredibly fair! The portions of delicious food were big enough for 2-3 people if that was the only dish they ate. Szechuan Home will be in my regular rotation in SF.

Yelp
Cold evenings call for hot spicy foods! Located on Geary by Park Presidio, Sichuan Home may look shabby on the outside, but as you walk in, the inside is filled with the smell of the aromatic chillies they're cooking up inside. The restaurant itself is very small inside so the tables are very very close together; the lady at the table behind us slammed her chair into ours from just barely pulling it out to sit in. They also had to set up one of those pull out chair/table things to extend our table space and we only ordered 3 dishes; there just wasn't enough room on their tiny table. The 4 people table is so small/narrow that had two people sat on my side, we would not have fit even though I'm a very petite girl. All this aside, the service is great for the most part and we appreciated the suggestions for what to order. However, I wasn't a fan of the waitress asking us three times if we wanted to "upgrade" our fish stew to live fish for $10. We opted not to. Their prices are a lot steeper than your average Chinese food place, and on top of the small portions, makes it difficult for me to revisit them again soon. We only really ended up here since our usual Taisan Huakee on the other side of Geary was closed on a Tuesday. -fish and pickled cabbage (5/5): This one was our favorite; a hot fish stew with pickled cabbage, tender pieces of fillet, and bean vermicelli. The closer we got to the bottom, the spicier it got as it's filled with red and green chillies. Portion side, this was the only one that I felt was worth it. This definitely hit the spot especially on tonight! -chef's special vegetable (5/5): A stir fry with shredded fresh taro, fried taro, and some chives. I've always ordered this one here since they're the only place I've seen it. But because I've been here many times and have ordered this before, I can safely say that the portion is a lot smaller now. There are also very few chives; you could probably count on two hands the pieces of chives in here. In other words, not much vegetable, lots of taro. We didn't mind, as the taro is equally good; still really enjoyed this one! -bean jelly in chili sauce (1/5): Now this one was disappointing. When I think of liang fen, I think of a cold, tspicy, vinegary, flavorful bean jelly. This one was lukewarm, did not have any flavor, and my lips were coated with oil afterwards. There was no spice to it and we were sorely disappointed about this one. I brought basically the entire thing home, thinking of revamping it with some seasoning and vinegar on my own. For sure will not order this again. -twice cooked pork (3/5): The waitress suggested we switch the regular pork to their la rou, or their preserved pork. Honestly not sure if this was the move since when it came, I was in shock how small the portion was. Unfortunately I did not grab a pic since this was the one on the foldable chair thing. The plate itself was huge, the pork was not. Blended in on a flowery plate, if you look closely, you'll see that there aren't that many pieces on there. Other than the few measly pieces of pork, it was filled with onions/leeks? Not sure but it was definitely a filler. The flavor was okay on this one and my friend had said hopefully they at least make their preserved pork in house but they didn't announce this when they suggested this to us so I wouldn't count on it. I would not order this again. Overall, steep prices, small portions, inconvenient seating arrangements; don't think I'll be back in the near future as there are far better places elsewhere.

Yelp
I found Sichuan Home from the San Francisco Michelin Guide under Chinese restaurants. I did a grub hub to go order for pick up. Arrived a little early and they were still working on my order but the time promised was accurate. Good packaging (nothing was leaking!), solid good old fashioned Chinese food! I ordered the Mongolian beef, mushroom with baby bok choy, lemon chicken, veggie chow mein and veggie fried rice! Everything was edible, no fat, not drench in oil, great tasting and fresh. Enjoyed every last bite and no, I did not find anything too spicy. The Mongolian beef had a hint but not spicy at all! The lemon chicken was fried well, wish the pieces were a little smaller. They were all various sizes and some pieces stuck together. No complaints here, big portions as well. Was able to make 2 meals from the 5 dishes! Keep it up Sichuan Home!

Yelp
Very decent Sichuan food - they have the stamp of approval from my parents who are visiting from Sichuan. Good service - there was only one waitress, very friendly, and somehow she manages five tables very well, there was little wait the whole time. Ambiance is ok.

Yelp
Wow. This is a hidden gem in central Richmond. The food is so elegant and tasty. No wonder they got Michelin recommended a few years ago. Service is super. They obviously got impacted by COVID-19 recently. They business should be much better than what I see now. I will come here more often to enjoy the good food and support local business.

This is the go to Chinese restaurant for our family. Although it is Sichuan cuisine with many spicy options, they also have many non-spicy options. Our favorite dishes here are: pork belly, eggplant, mapo tofu, and beef chow fun.

Yelp
A very delicious, affordable Sichuan spot in the Richmond. The lady helping us with our meal was the sweetest and even offered us free dessert. I would recommend the cumin lamb and spicy beef short ribs; both had tender meat and wonderful flavor. Avoid getting the pan-fried pork buns; I also wish everything we got was spicier but overall enjoyed my meal here!

Yelp
Best spicy fish stew (chefs special) I have ever had. Wood war mushrooms were so succulent and the broth was so good I was drinking it. The tea smoked duck was good but a lot of bones. Pumpkin sesame mochi cake was a nice slightly sweet treat at the end. Pan fried dumplings dumplings and Ma po tofu were good but not amazing. Good quick service, classic Chinese restaurant setting, bathroom was in the back through the kitchen. The prime minister of Singapore has eaten there! Definitely coming back for that fish stew

Yelp
A lovely menu of classic chinese dishes competently prepared. Friendly service. A reliable locale in a sea of Asian eateries

Yelp
The food was really tasty and the staff was attentive and very friendly. I came on a Thursday night and they had a steady flow of customers coming in. We ordered a number of dishes and they all came out pretty fast. My fav dishes were their specialty fish dish and the chicken plate. The dessert was also the highlight. The sweet rice balls were perfect for a cold night in January. Would def visit again!

Yelp
The best and most authentic Sichuan food that I had in America. I was born and raised in Sichuan. So I know how authentic Sichuan food tastes like. We ordered 3 different spicy dishes which presented 3 different kind of spicy taste, dry red pepper spicy, fresh green pepper spicy and spicy with the numbness from Huajiao. A must go places near Golden Gate Park.

Yelp
Do not order the beef and asparagus. for $30 dish, they will give the worst cut of beef. It was very chewy and mostly tendons. We mentioned how hard it was to eat, they didn't compensate or at least offer something else. Won't go back here again. There are better options nearby.

Yelp
I think I need to come here again and try different things from the menu. Today was just a lazy day for me, being at home all day even though I was having a day off from work. The forecast was also not helping by telling us this evening is supposedly to be raining, when as of a matter of fact it is actually dry like spruce burger without cheese. I was in the mood for something funky this evening, So I got myself orders of Pork belly in brown sauce (hong shao rou), Pig intestine stir fry and Pig brain in Szechuan chili oil. Man o man .. The pig brain was good but I didn't know it would come in such a big portion! I think I will finish this in two weeks or more (is that even possible?) Or maybe toss it, gotta be careful with the cholesterol. The pork belly in brown sauce was good but it was way too fatty since the meat ratio to the skin are very minimal. The pig intestine was crunchy, spicy and this is the one I enjoyed the most out of the three orders I did this evening. Overall I could taste the good cooking in the food and will definitely coming back someday. I just ordered the wrong things today. That's all.

Yelp
What a beautiful hidden gem to discover on a rare sunny day in the Richmond District. We took advantage of the one day break in torrential rains to try this place, which we've had on our list for years. With several Michelin recommendations (a more casual designation than the star) plastered in the windows we suspected we were in for a quality culinary experience. What really elevated it was the friendly and enthusiastic attitude of our server May (maybe an owner?). She ushered us in and recommended the crab and noodle special which was a feast fit for a queen! Buttery, ginger infused noodles capped off by succulent fresh crab did not disappoint. On the side - just to say we ate our veggies, we had mushrooms with baby bok choy . It was a delightful dish as well. Looking forward to returning to try many other delicious delicacies.

Yelp
We were a group of 8 who dined here for a friends birthday and it's truly a great place to enjoy hearty Asian food at super affordable rates. Ambience: It's a small casual restaurant and on the weekday we visited, it was completely empty. Street parking was easy to find but I imagine it would be busier and harder on weekends. Food: We ordered the spicy fish, onion pancake, smashed cucumber, clay pot beef, dan dan noodles, mapo tofu, chow mein, and tea smoked duck. Everything tasted great but had a similar flavor profile with the Szechuan spices. Our favorites were the dan dan noodles, mapo tofu, and pancakes. We also got the fresh watermelon juice which added a refreshing sweet balance to the meal. Service: The servers were extremely friendly and accommodating. They were able to provide several vegetarian options and also allowed us to serve our own birthday cake at the end. They adjusted portion sizes as well based on our group size. Overall, I highly recommend Sichuan home if you're looking for warm, spicy, comforting food to enjoy with friends.

Yelp
Sichuan Home is a great restaurant in SF's Richmond district for Sichuan style food. This small, unassuming restaurant has many Michelin accolades and is a popular option for locals, both for dine-in and take-out. The majority of their dishes are spicy, but you can request a milder version. Based on the worker's recommendations, we ordered the Chef's Special Fish Stew, Sautéed Beef & Asparagus in Black Pepper Sauce, and the Eggplant and Pork in Garlic Sauce. The Chef's Special Fish Stew ($22.95) is their "known for" dish and comes with a white fish filet cooked in a spicy broth with bean sprouts and wood ear. You can request different types of fish as well, but they come with a different price. The most expensive version we were offered was $48. The fish stew was unique and pretty spicy. The sautéed beef and asparagus in black pepper sauce ($22.95) was very tasty and not spicy. The meat had a good texture and good flavor. The eggplant and pork in garlic sauce ($12.95) was also a good order. The pork was minced and the eggplant came in long slices, which the worker helped to cut in front of us. The eggplant tasted really good. Overall, we had a pretty good experience at Sichuan Home. We were able to be seated right away since we came later in the evening. Service was friendly, polite, but also a bit pushy. The restaurant does accept credit card, but they requested cash. If you like spicy Chinese food, Sichuan Home is a good restaurant to try.

Yelp
Really delicious authentic Sichuan dishes. Without a doubt one of the best Sichuan restaurants in the Bay Area. Our party ordered a bunch of must-have dishes like spicy boiled beef and pickled cabbage fish like in this picture, and we felt really satisfied for our cravings for spicy Chinese food. To start, we had some complimentary cabbage cold dish in Sichuan spicy oil. According to the lady, only Sichuan people know the recipe to this appetizer. It was really refreshing and did it's job getting us ready for the real stuff! I had to ask for refill. It was that good I risked being rejected! The pickled cabbage fish served in a whole pot came to our table looking like it all belongs in my stomach and mine alone. If I were to eat this dish by myself, it could last me 4 delicious meals. Big portion, super well seasoned, delicious, all for $26. This is what I call value. The other dishes were nice too but I wanted to highlight that pickled cabbage fish. After we finished, the lady gave us some rice dessert. It was like Mochi but not made with sticky rice. That was really nice of her. Overall 9/10, solid Sichuan spot.

Yelp
Solid Chinese food. Always craving garlic green beans and they hit the spot. Giving it a four because the fish and pork fried rice was a little on the more vinegar fish side which I don't fancy. Great service and nice traditional Chinese interior.

Yelp
Sichuan Home is one of my must-try recommendations for people visiting SF -- it's a cozy spot in the Richmond with friendly servers, free refillable tea, and a fantastic menu. Chongqing Style Spicy Chicken - Perfectly crispy morsels of spicy chicken with mala peppers interspersed, and honestly my favorite thing here. You have an option of ordering bone-in or boneless. The server was shocked we weren't ordering vegetables and funnily enough allowed us to add some green beans to the mix. Chef's Special Fish Stew - Apologies to the tables around us for the sounds of DEATH coming from our table while we were eating this. According to the server, people generally come by Sichuan Home for this stew, and I can really see why. It's chock full of spices, mala peppers, wood ear mushrooms, and SO much fish. Deliciously delicious but extremely hot and spicy and packed with mala flavor. Also probably better for 3+ people or you'll have a lot of leftovers! Jellyfish and Cucumber - We're on a mission to try jellyfish dishes at different restaurants and this is our #1 right now. There's a generous portion of well-marinated jellyfish that has a great seafood-umami flavor and soft, crunchy texture. Also, the free dessert we received at the end of the night was super good. Total bill came out to around $70 which wasn't terribly unreasonable since we also walked away with plenty of leftover stew. Will definitely be back!

Yelp
Delicious, flavorful, made to order, fresh, friendly service, reasonable prices, paid on-street parking. Adding to my favorites so I can find it when I wander through this city again.

Yelp
I am absolutely in love with this place's Couple's Delight! Every time I go, I order two orders of it. I don't really eat it as an appetizer, but instead, I pair it with rice. I've also tried their Shredded Potato Salad, Sichuan Boiled Fish, and Twice-Cooked Pork, and they're all very flavorful. Service was quick and friendly, and the server gave us desserts on the house even though we came 40 minutes before their closing time! ;)

Yelp
AMAZING SERVICE & FOOD. Came in for lunch time really quick and waitress welcomed me and my partner nicely and recommended the dishes attached. Such good and fresh quality, the chef serves all the meals freshly cooked. The ambience matched the food perfectly. Highly recommend for dinner and lunch.

Yelp
Exceptional food & service! Not into very hot stuff but #1 is perfect for my palette!

Yelp
The lady was so friendly and welcoming. It's nice to feel like our business is appreciated by the staff/owners. We ordered the spicy fish and Chinese herb stew, the Chongqing style chicken (spicy fried chicken pieces), and beef chow fun. While it's not my favorite iteration of Chongqing spicy fried chicken in town, I would still return here. I think this dish was missing some of the numbing effect that I usually enjoy from this dish. The spicy fish stew was indeed spicy and tasty. It's nice that it's served on a portable gas stove next to the table because it kept it warm throughout our dining experience. The beef chow fun was also good and had that wok hei flavor to it. I think I'd like to retry the spicy fried chicken again sometime. It's essentially deep fried or wok fried chicken with a light batter. It's usually dry on the outside, no sauce, and is tossed with dried red chili peppers and Sichuan peppercorns and is a easy dish to try at Sichuan restaurants.

Yelp
The food is excellent. This is one of the best Chinese restaurants in the inner Richmond.

Yelp
Got the 水煮鱼 for takeout. Super fast (ready within 15 min) and yummy! Fish stayed warm even on the walk home and the soup was super flavorful. Have been recommending it to all of my friends. :)

Yelp
I love dry fried string beans with minced pork garlic but this was horrible. The beans were mealy rather than juicy and crisp. Unfortunately, it was take out so by the time I got home and realized how bad it was, it was too far to go back. I'll never go back, as the customer service wasn't great either.

Yelp
Everything i've tried here is excellent. + tons of delicious vegetarian options. Favorites so far: Fish stew, veggie potstickers, chow mein, honey walnut prawns.

Yelp
Nice option for some Sichuan and surrounding area eats. We really like the Cumin sauce lamb. Not really spicy at all, and delicious slightly smoky flavor. Another favorite is their tofu (more like egg tofu) with broccoli. Before the pandemic when we dine in, they gave us dishes of spicy cabbage slaw (almost like kimchi in Korean restaurants or Gurken Salad in Germany; or Sauerkraut in Polish restaurants, etc except this is Sichuan flavor and it's spicy). This is more for digestive purposes; or a palate cleanser. Whatever, it's Yum!

Yelp
Have been coming here for a few years and have always had great food and service. Sichuan Home is easily one of my top 3 Chinese/Sichuan restaurants in SF. There's a reason this place was awarded a Bib Gourmand! The staff is always very attentive and helpful, and in several instances has modified dishes to accommodate dietary requirements of the group I was with. They are direct when making recommendations or offering the daily "specials", so be prepared to decline if they try to upsell you although the one time we went for the special pork shoulder we were not disappointed. I can easily say everything I have had here over the years has been very good, with any leftovers not lasting long in the fridge once I get home. The portions are generous and it is very reasonably priced. Some of my favorite dishes are the couple's delight, cumin lamb, okra, and beef pancake, but you cant go wrong with any of it.

Yelp
I really enjoy Sichuan Home. The food is really tasty and had great spice level. Everything is spicy hence sichuan and is flavored so well! I loved all the dishes we received. Definitely is a great go to spot!
