The 15 Best Restaurants In Kensington - London - The Infatuation

"Sichuan Popo can satisfy a dim sum craving later than most places. That includes 8pm on a Tuesday. Sichuan Popo is a sleek Chinese restaurant on Earls Court Road that serves dim sum until closing, and pillowy prawn and scallop dumplings are inhaled as soon as the steamer hits the table. It’s a haven for in-and-out, last-minute group dinners that involve passing sesame smacked cucumbers and swirling chewy biang biang noodles." - rianne shlebak, jake missing, sinead cranna, heidi lauth beasley

Where to Eat in Kensington and Chelsea | Eater London

"From the team behind outstanding Chinese restaurants Xi’an Biang Biang Noodles and Tofu Vegan, Sichuan Popo brings a fleet of Sichuanese and Shaanxi dishes to W8. Chengdu’s xiao su rou, a starter of crisp, meltingly rich fried pork with Sichuan peppercorn, could be followed by mapo tofu, dan dan noodles, Xi’an biang biang noodles, or a hero dish from Xi’an Biang Biang: Chongqing xiaomian noodles in a lusciously oily, numbing broth." - Alexander Larman

Overall I was satisfied with my visit. While buns were questionable when it comes to looks, and the dough was extremely sweet (I did not enjoy them), biang was super tasty. Full of flavor, just on spot when it comes to spiciness, lamb topping was very good as well. Size of portion? More then enough, had to take some home with me. Prices are reasonable, and the staff is very friendly and helpful.

The vegetarian Biang Biang noodles were good. The portions for the other dishes like the wontons and Sichuan Burger were a bit small and the dishes not as tasty.

Incredible Food & Flavors at Sichuan PoPo - Fulham 婆婆面 Chelsea! Sichuan PoPo - Fulham 婆婆面 in Chelsea is a true hidden gem for authentic Chinese cuisine. The food was exceptional, and the highlight for me was the dumplings — absolutely perfect! Tender, juicy, and bursting with flavor, they were some of the best I’ve ever had. We also tried the Dan Dan noodles, mapo tofu, and chili chicken — every dish was full of bold, authentic Sichuan flavor. The spice level was just right, and everything came out hot and fresh. The staff were polite and attentive, and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. This is now one of my go-to spots for Chinese food in London. Highly recommended — especially for dumpling lovers!

I’ve been here twice and almost 3 years apart, it never impressed me… The food served quickly, however the restaurant is cold without heating in a 3 degree time in Winter, and the lights were flickering which really bothered my eyes a lot during the whole dining experience. We ordered the mapo tofu and black bean beef which we like be latter one more. Beef dish is full of onions while the tofu dish doesn’t come with any minced meat at all, that was quite a disappointment… I feel sorry to say this but I don’t think I would recommend this place or come back again…

This is a very authentic place to eat proper Chinese food. We found it accidentally and it succeeded my expectations. The portions are big and the taste is phenomenal! I could say that this is the best chicken noodles i ever had. Customer service was very good. Staff were fast and helpful.

Went for an early dinner during the week. The thing that immediately hits u is the cleanliness which is incredibly high. People are very friendly and relaxed both the customers and waiters. We ordered from a menu in Chinese which makes it easier to understand what is actually in the food. Despite the reputation of the Sichuan region of China I must say the flavour of every dish we tried seemed sedate and blander in a way. One is expecting the explosion of flavours which assaults your senses when you are in China but here the flavours are more civilised and adapted to a less fiery palate. Food is actually abundant, well cooked and balanced and it was a pleasure to dine in. I recommend it if you want to try something different from the omnipresent Cantonese restaurants in the city without the risk of becoming a fire breathing dragon.
