Yelp
What an incredible find! We do not typically eat at Italian restaurants because we can cook our own food that just tastes better (my ancestry is half Sicilian and half Bohemian so I have some amazing family recipes, especially for our traditional red sauce). However, our kitchen is being redone and I had a taste for Italian. We saw the reviews, looked up the menu to see that the prices looked fair, and decided to try Sicily Trattoria. We are glad we did.
Nice ambiance, but nothing fancy, clean, and compact inside, with an additional seating area in a room next to the main dining. The mussels for an appetizer were a treat, as we rarely spend for that sort of luxury, especially in an Italian restaurant where portions are usually plentiful. In a word, the mussels in the wine/oil/garlic were spectacular! We asked for extra bread, which was scrumptious on its own, to soak up the last of the broth from the dish.
The veal marsala was perfectly cooked and the Penne ala vodka was a treat. The Pizzas passing by going to the other tables looked delectable as well. To make our meal even better, we had a chance to speak to the husband/wife owners. What delightful proprietors. They care about the meals they are serving and the satisfaction of their customers.
The only slight negative was that fact that they use a little cinnamon in their homemade Tiramisu. Being a "purist in regards to Italian cooking, it caught us off-guard. Even so, it was very tasty. The whole experience was so positive that I promised to bring the owners some of my version of the dessert next time we make it at home.
