Live piano karaoke with a 70s vibe & classic cocktails

"There are bars where you can sing karaoke, and there are bars where you can hear live music. Then there’s Sid Gold’s Request Room, a magical place where you can do both. Six nights a week, Sid Gold’s hosts live piano karaoke in their back lounge area. You can request anything from Elvis to Olivia Rodrigo, but you’ll have to sing your selection in front of a room of strangers. It’s a great time. Reservations are easy to get, and there’s no cover, just a two-drink minimum." - bryan kim, matt tervooren
"Your angelic voice deserves to be accompanied by a live piano, and you can make that happen at Sid Gold’s Request Room. This Chelsea bar feels like a ’70s Vegas lounge, with curved booths embedded in the walls and a stage in the back, next to a pianist with a list of a few hundred songs to sing along to. We’ve heard a lot of musical theater here, and we’ve also seen someone who looked like an extra from The Sopranos sing Frank Sinatra. There’s no cover charge, just a two-drink minimum." - bryan kim, neha talreja, molly fitzpatrick
"As a regular at Sid’s Squid House, I know having the restaurant pull up your file can help — the bartender might remember you love the calamari pizza, which is useful when a dish is about to run out." - Ryan Sutton
"At Sid Gold’s Request Room, you can listen to Sinatra live. Except it won’t actually be Sinatra—it’ll be some guy from Long Island who comes here every Saturday and does a pretty decent impression. That’s just one of the characters you might run into at this Chelsea bar with live piano karaoke six nights a week. Sid Gold’s feels like it was transported straight from 1970s Vegas, and it’s a magical place where all of your dreams will come true (as long as all of your dreams involve singing Billy Joel in front of strangers). There’s a bar up front, but you want to sit in the small lounge in the back where all the magic happens. Keep in mind that there’s a two-drink minimum, and don’t forget to tip your pianist." - Bryan Kim
"I toured the new piano-karaoke lounge inside the Siren Hotel (in the Wurlitzer Building) and found a throwback, dimly lit space entered via a door below a brightly lit neon sign with an alcove listing the week’s entertainment and the bar menu. The lounge features a large U-shaped bar with a mirrored back bar, retro barware, 1970s-era chairs and couches, and walls shimmering with blue and gold paint; antique lamps and amber pendant lights provide the mood lighting. The venue is divided into two rooms with the piano area in the back: a curved table surrounds the instrument while high-top tables line the walls, and both rooms have recessed ceilings painted with clouds and swirling galaxy motifs by New York artist Steven Hammel. The cocktail menu echoes the New York location, with classics such as French 75s and music-inspired drinks like the Velvet Underground (bourbon, lime, and velvet falernum), plus beer and wine; the physical menu is designed to look like a record. Song choices span goth-rock staples like “Bella Lugosi’s Dead” to iconic pop anthems like “Let It Be,” and patrons put in requests and take the mic while a trained musician plays along; the venue is also expected to host burlesque. Sid Gold’s aimed to open in mid-July and is now open, offering cocktail piano from 7–9 p.m. nightly and live piano karaoke from 9 p.m.–1 a.m. every night." - Brenna Houck
