Chow down on crispy Hainan chicken and delicious sides at this casual spot in the Santa Anita Mall with both indoor and outdoor seating.
"Our Favorite Dishes: Hainan Chicken If Savoy Kitchen is the queen of Hainan chicken in the SGV, Side Chick is her cool son who everybody wants to hang out with on the weekends. Located in the outdoor food court at the Westfield mall in Arcadia, Side Chick’s tiny counter is seemingly always busy, but the Hainan chicken is worth the wait. A mix of both white and dark meat with seasoned cucumbers and ginger scallion sauce make this a perfect, kind-of-healthy lunch before shopping. The garlic rice on the side is some of the best we’ve ever had." - jess basser sanders, amy clark, brant cox, brett keating
"The Hainan chicken rice at Side Chick is deceptively simple — just poached chicken served over rice with cucumbers, cilantro, and a few dipping sauces. But take a bite to discover layers of flavor, each one more complex than the next." - Cathy Chaplin
"Located in the outdoor food court at the Westfield mall in Arcadia, Side Chick is a Hainan chicken specialist with a name that warrants a slight eyeroll. If the presentation looks familiar, that’s because this is Johnny Lee’s (the Prince of Poultry)’s old joint. Although he’s since moved onto Pearl River Deli, this casual San Gabriel Valley counter remains one of the best places to find Hainan chicken in Los Angeles. A healthy mix of both white and dark meat, accompanied by rice, cucumbers, and an over-easy egg, this is exactly what you want while building your stamina before a long day of shopping." - Kat Hong, Brant Cox

"It’s not often we eat inside mall food courts, but when we do, it’s at the Westfield Santa Anita. The gigantic shopping center in the SGV is packed with excellent Chinese restaurants, and one of our favorites is Side Chick. This tiny stall has everything from cold soba noodles to chicken soup on their menu, but you’re here for one thing - Hainan chicken, a mix of both white and dark meat served with seasoned cucumbers, ginger scallion sauce, and some of the best garlic rice we’ve ever eaten. It’s a remarkably simple and delicious dish that’s perfect for a kind-of-healthy lunch before a long day of shopping." - Brant Cox, Brett Keating
