Google
Amazing burgers! They were packed when we went on Saturday night and they were very accommodating to our group of eight. It is a loud environment and we couldn't hear each other across the table. Will definitely come back in the future!

Google
Had an early dinner on my first night in Louisville. It was a quick walk from the Omni Hotel. Service was good, it was not crowded at all on a Tuesday evening and the burger( with bacon and pimiento cheese) was tasty, cooked just as ordered and the fries were crisp and fresh. They had a small beer selection but something good, so I was satisfied.

Google
It's the Monday after Easter as I sit at the bar typing this review. Fantastic burger & beer. Had the "Death Penalty" with Cajun fries. Bourbon-aged Ale from the brewery down the street 🍺 Would recommend! Might have to edit this review, if I get a milkshake... UPDATE: I got the Triple Chocolate milkshake (not guilty) to-go, it was everything I hoped it would be. Definitely coming back next time I'm in downtown Louisville, thank you Russell & the team at Sidebar for the hospitality!

Google
Food was good. Appetizers were large and delicious. We reserved a table for our group and they were prompt and friendly. Prices are reasonable and if you want drinks or bourbon, they have a lot of options including bourbon flights.

Google
I had the 1910 Brown Butter Old Fashioned and the burger special. Both were amazing. That was one of the smoothest Old Fashioneds I've ever had and the burger was perfectly cooked and had a great balance of sweet from the BBQ sauce and salty from the bacon pieces. Their beef blend for the burger was perfectly balanced too. Highly recommend

Google
I have ordered and eaten a lot of burgers, and this place is easily top 3 of all time. I was in town for a guys weekend and got in first. So I stopped in for lunch. The bar tender and all of the staff were absolutely welcoming and terrific. The food and service were so good that I convinced the rest of my group when they arrived to go there for dinner. All were seriously impressed. It was so good I literally ate lunch and dinner there on the same day. 100,% will be back if I am in Louisville again.

Google
Delicious food with great portions! The mozzarella sticks, which I don't usually eat or enjoy, were MASSIVE and so good. Can't wait to come back and try more of the menu.

Google
Wish I could rate this place higher than a 5 star. Bartender was excellent! Friendly, provided good recommendations and made the overall experience really fun. We went once just for drinks and got the pickle fries (highly recommend) and pretzel bites. At lunch time the entire place filled with everyone getting burgers. This is when the bartender told us, they were famous for their burgers. So we had to go back and try them and they DID NOT disappoint! They make all of their own sauces pair with food choice and everything is locally sourced. Highly recommend you stop by Side Bar on your trip to Louisville.

Yelp
Food was delicious! We ordered 2 salad and both were really good! Nachos with pulled pork are a big portion to share for at least 4 people. Service was fast. Food came in 10 Minutes after we ordered. Good ambiance nice bar with a great selection of bourbon and cocktails. We will definitely come back here

Yelp
Checked Yelp for a good burger and we decided on Sidebar since we haven't been there. Parking was a little challenging and ended up across the street for $20. A little steep for just going to dinner. The atmosphere was warm but there was a chill and I noticed some people were eating with their coats still on. We started out with the pretzel/beer cheese appetizer. The cheese was amazing but the little pretzel bites had seen too much heat. Both of use got a different burger and both of us liked them very much. Your side is extra so be careful there...and they have several good choices. Milkshakes for both of us but I just had to try the Bourbon Ball "guilty" shake. It was amazing but also the most expensive shake I have, or will ever have again @ $20! What was going to be just go out and get a good burger turned into an unexpected expensive venture. Our waitress was very efficient and friendly so after the tip our bill was over $100 for two people...then add the parking. Although I really liked this place, it isn't something I could afford to do very often and not quite in the level of "one of those special places" you don't mind splurging on.

Yelp
We ordered delivery as we are traveling and not from the area. That was a mistake because our Door Dasher messed up the delivery. I called the restaurant and the manager was fantastic and remade our order and we picked it up. The kale salad was one of the best salads I have ever had! The hung jury burger was delicious too. I would highly recommend this restaurant. Food and service are top notch. I hope they stop using DoorDash to deliver though.

Yelp
Came downtown for a show and dinner. First class service (Russel) was awesome. Food was great, atmosphere fantastic.

Yelp
I'm in Louisville a good bit for work. Most of the food downtown skews bar, which means not so healthy. So I was happy to see some healthier options on the menu of Sidebar when I came here for a work dinner during my most recent trip to Louisville. We were a party of 8 and since it was a Tuesday seating wasn't a problem. We ordered drinks and the benedictine dip and nachos for the table. The dip was like tzatziki without the garlic...really fresh. The nachos were good too, kind of standard nachos with a nice amount of toppings. People ordered burgers but I was excited about the salmon sandwich so got that with ancient grains and kale as the side. I didn't know a kale salad was an option or I would have ordered that. The sandwich was good and I ended up adding the leftover benedictine dip to it. The grains were okay. A little bland but I was happy to not be eating French fries again. I really enjoyed this place and will come back, I'm sure, since I'm here a good bit.

Yelp
Forever loving this place. The fries used to be better with pulled (shredded) chicken, but the cheese just makes them unbeatable! Koby as a bartender is top notch-unbeatable. Super cool vibe, lots of whiskey/bourbon/cocktails.
google avatar

Renae D.

Yelp
We chose this for my birthday dinner. Everyone in our party of 6 loved their meal. Even the kale salad someone ordered was a hit. We could have skipped the pretzel appetizer but it wasn't bad. Our server was awesome. He was so knowledgeable & also knows a good burger. :) The fries are separate for $4-5.5.. we could have easily split. The truffle fries with the dip was our favorite of the few we tried. We also got extra sauces to dip & everyone agreed they had good ranch. We went around 7:45pm on a Wednesday night & it was a quiet chill night. All in all we had a great experience & will definitely be back sometime.

Yelp
Great downtown spot. Excellent burgers, really hard to pick a favorite. Love the Jailbird (can never go wrong with bacon and a fried egg on a burger). Ambulance chaser is a go to for sure (slightly sweet bbq sauce, bacon, tomato jam). Ah, and the Bailiff...the pimento cheese and bacon pair so beautifully. (Yes, this is a law-themed naming scheme...restaurant name is the first clue!) And don't sleep on the Alternate Juror--shaved bologna, fried on the flat top, adorned with beer cheese...don't question it, just enjoy it! Solid sides, my pick would be the truffle fries with a nice little aioli dipping sauce. Solid beer selection, good whiskey choices (you better be when located on Whiskey Row!), and some quality cocktails. Sure, have one for happy hour or dinner, but they won't tell if you sneak one in at lunch either! And, last but not least, if you manage to save a little room, the shakes are excellent. There's always a special of some kind, and I'd just say go with whatever it is if in doubt. Is not a huge space. Some bar seating and a modest dining room, so it can get a little crowded, especially when there are events at the Yum! Center...so if you're stopping in before an event (and you should), plan accordingly. Service is friendly and helpful.

Yelp
Around the corner from Old Forester, good spot to stop for drinks and some bites before hitting the scene again. So far we've had okay food, but nothing great. Now this was bar food, but the best we've had while in Louisville thus far with friendly service. Vibes were pretty good as well.

Yelp
We came down for day trip to Bourbon Trail visit. And started here, having been here previously. It was Friday midday, gloomy outside but welcomed and served promptly. This team is really fin bunch. We started with Aged Old Fashioneds, which we really favor. Well made and generous pour. We started with Pretzel App,,, four nicely cooked rods and chips to finish the dip. I had Judges Chamber which included Aus Ju and recommend dripping it on the sandwich and keeping your elbows up. We also had a couple Hung Jury and they were spicy and perfectly cooked. We had great time and finished our meal with prototype Peanut Butter Chocolate shake with Plantain... very rich and available in dirty version (Vodka) which we will try next visit.

Yelp
Stopped here for lunch on our crawl and it was excellent! We didn't have a reservation but were quickly seated for a party of six. Clearly a popular place. Our server was great. We started with some drinks (flights and cocktails) and the fried pimento cheese balls. My cocktail (which I can't remember) was delicious. The pimento cheese balls were excellent. One of the better appetizers I've had in a while. I got the Thai salad which was fresh and perfect. Reminded me of the Thai salad at Panera (flavor-wise) which I sorely miss. After all the rich food and drink, a salad hit right. The rest of the crew got burgers of some kind and really enjoyed them. There was talk of boozy milkshakes but we were too full BUT Louisville is an open container city so they all got drinks to go. I was fully in DD mode for the rest of the afternoon. Really enjoyed it.
google avatar

Jacqueline C.

Yelp
Really enjoyed this place. Vibe here was really cool. Loved the names on the menu that are affiliated with law references. Service was good. The burgers are what would bring me back. Went with a huge group and everyone loved their food.

Reid D.

Yelp
Welcoming and knowledgeable staff. Helped make great food and drink selections. Want to go back to try the milkshake.
google avatar

Yelp
One of my fav burger joints! The meat is certified Angus beef blend of short ribs & brisket. I had the Sidebar (basic dressed cheeseburger). Wow! The buttered bun is well toasted, the Schwartz's dill pickle is really good, and the meat patty is delicious... perfectly cooked and seasoned. I also shared a guilty (with vanilla alcohol) cookies and cream milkshake - just do it! The only drawback to the Sidebar is finding a

Yelp
This is the first place we stopped in. Really cool building. Sweet bar, huge selection, and signature cocktails. We got the barrel aged old fashioned and whiskey sour. Coby was our bartender, he was cool.
google avatar

Yelp
Food was amazing!! Just wish that fries came with the burger and that the side of them wasn't as small as a kids meal fry from McDonald's for the price Would absolutely recommend though!!!
google avatar

William C.

Yelp
I'm in town across the street at the Marriott at some fire alarm training and decided to go out and try some local establishments. Without a doubt the Old Fashioned is definitely worth coming for. I got a Fire Marshall (I couldn't help myself) burger and a side of regular fries to go. Well worth the trip. I will be back.
google avatar

Ashley L.

Yelp
The burgers at sidebar are absolutely delicious. Cooked perfectly and so juicy! My fiancé is gluten free and really enjoyed the gluten free bun which doesn't happen often. We tried the sweet potato's fries, garlic Parmesan, and Cajun fries. We also had the sidecar burger & the ambulance chaser. Really enjoyed the pickles on the side. I did not enjoy the sauce that came with the Parmesan garlic fries, it tasted like a side of mayo with light seasoning. The gluten free bun came wrapped in plastic so he has to construct the burger himself which was messy. Not sure if this was because we ordered to go. We didn't have any drinks but they had a huge selection of whiskey to select from!
google avatar

Michelle B.

Yelp
I placed our order online this weekend. Ordered 2 Sidebar Burgers (one with a Beyond Beef patty) and a Bailiff Burger. The burgers, the fries (Parmesan, Garlic, Truffle fries so dang good!), and all of the sauces that we requested were all absolutely delicious. All of the orders were prepared just as I requested them. My other half said the restaurant looked really cool/hip inside. So, we will definitely be back and I'll also be back for one of those milkshakes!! To-go service exceptional!!

Yelp
Went to Sidebar a couple weeks ago on a tour of Louisville. The hubby and I were out to visit some distilleries and this was the spot we chose for lunch. We found the place easily on our walk of downtown and we were shown to our seat at a table in the dining room. I threw my diet out the window on this day! The waitress came by and took our order for drinks, I ordered a Whiskey Sour and the hubby ordered Shotgun Wedding draft. I also ordered an appetizer, probably didn't need this but it sounded so good. They were called Ambo Fries. This app could have easily been a meal! Ambo Fries had crisp on the thick side fries with an Angus beef patty, bourbon (of course) bbq sauce, cheddar cheese, bacon, tomato jam, and tobacco onions. Tobacco onions contain no tobacco but have cayenne on them and they are deep fried to a wonderful crispiness. Loved this app (like I said, threw the diet out the window lol) and would definitely order it again. The hubby ordered The Sidebar hamburger for his lunch along with an order of sweet potato fries. He loved the burger but said if he did it again he would definitely pass on the sweet potato fries. I had The Judge's Chambers burger and I really liked it as well. I also ordered a Bourbon Ball milkshake you can order it with or without the bourbon, WITH of course! There was not a drop left in this glass, so good. The bar area was nice and dark with plenty of seating and lots of choices for whiskey and bourbon as we are in Louisville for gosh sakes. Lunch with our drinks and an app came to $101 before the tip. The service was good and, yes, we would definitely come back.

Yelp
I was thirsty and hungry after flying in from Seattle to attend a conference. And my goal was to also try some Kentucky Bourbon, because, well, when in Rome. This place did not disappoint. The bartender selected a 15$ neat Bourbon that had some strong kick. Went down like fire in my throat. Holy shit what a great relaxing sip. I had the cheeseburger. Medium well with a great steak chop blend of meat. The pickle felt homemade and the fries were seasoned well. A perfect burger and experience. Go here.

Yelp
Ended up here on a Saturday night with my boyfriend because it was near the Hotel Distil and because of good Yelp reviews. It is a little spot tucked on the side street. Thanks Yelp friends! It was fantastic! Our cocktails were a great start. He liked his Old Fashioned and my Kentucky Maid was amazing. Then the burgers showed up. Just WOW. They looked crazy good and the taste was even better. I had the judges Chambers which had prime rib on it. I loved it, but what I also loved was my side salad because I think the croutons were deep-fried! You wouldn't think that little touch would make a huge difference, but it was one of the best salads I have ever had. My boyfriend got the jailbird and he liked his as well. In fact, we usually share, and this time we didn't which just goes to show we were both trying to keep every bite to ourselves. LOL I thought we were all done, but didn't know my boyfriend secretly ordered a bourbon cream milkshake topped with pecans. I was going to try to resist trying it because you know calories, but once I tasted it, I was helpless to resist. It was so good we bought the bourbon cream when we got home! I'm sure we will be back in Louisville soon and I would definitely go back to this place even with all the other places there are to try. Our server was the bartender and he was great also. Thanks, Sidebar!

Randy J.

Yelp
Terrible service. Provided very little dressing with salad and charged extra for a small amount more.
google avatar

Terry J.

Yelp
The food and service was amazing. The homemade dill pickles were great. The burgers were not heavy but were truly made fresh. Our overall experience was exceptional. I highly recommend the Sidebar.
google avatar

Maria I.

Yelp
Awesome concept, our favorites were the beer cheese and pretzels and the milkshakes! Chill ambiance and the service was quick.

Pam S.

Yelp
We ate here for a celebration dinner. Great food and service! We will definitely be back!
google avatar

Cindy B.

Yelp
Great food, great ambiance, great service. We came here as the first stop after a long flight and were so happy with the cozy feeling and the delicious burgers. Our favorite part this was the bourbon, we enjoyed and old fashion and and a sidebar select flight. The sidebar single barrel calumet was absolutely fantastic!
google avatar

Chad S.

Yelp
Great burgers, extensive bourbon selection with knowledgeable and helpful bar staff, and the best milkshake I've ever had. Really cool bar tucked off a side street, these legal themed burger bar made for the perfect spot before a concert at the Yum center across the street. There was a long wait for a table but none for the bar. Or bartender was great, I asked for a bourbon recommendation based on a few of my favorites and he nailed it. The burgers were great, but make sure you save room for a milkshake (boozy or not is up to you).
google avatar

Ryan W.

Yelp
Burger meat I can tell is quality, had amazing flavor. I just have to knock the place on value. Splitting a burger wasn't as fulfilling as I'd expected and the reason I thought it would be fine is because I assumed size based on price. Over $20 for the burger... Milkshake is in the top 3 shakes I've ever had.
google avatar

Rich F.

Yelp
First time in Louisville and the servers and bartender could not have been friendlier at Sidebar and the Death Penalty burger with truffle fries is SOOOOO GOOD! Will definitely bookmark this spot for a return!

David P.

Yelp
Menu was great. Our server was quick and knew what to recommend, since the 4 of us had never been there before. I liked all the burger names and everyone loved theirs. The beer cheese and pretzels were very good also. The atmosphere was modern and unpretentious.
google avatar

Shirin P.

Yelp
Somewhat decent burgers but the bartender that waited on us had an attitude as if he's annoyed that we decided to come in and order food and drinks. Sat at one of the high tables in the bar area and ordered a kale salad to share, the gavel and I don't remember the name of the other burger we got. Everything including the kale salad was mediocre. Truffle fries were too salty.
google avatar

David J.

Yelp
We had a good meal here and would go back. It is a burger joint with expansive Bourbon collection (of course). Great friendly service .
google avatar

John R.

Yelp
The mozzarella sticks were fresh and great. The burgers were good but not something that could not be replicated at home. It gets two stars simply because the prices are extremely high and out of line with the experience. It is a tourist trap and not worth the money. I'm not sure how the owner sleeps at night charging those prices for food. No burger should cost $20 bucks.
google avatar

Michael R.

Yelp
This place is a big hidden gem. Great food and an extremely impressive whiskey selection. It's easy to miss if you're not paying attention to so keep your eyes peeled and and open mind.
google avatar

Jessica W.

Yelp
Booze shakes are awesome. Burgers are delish! Service is good considering how busy they get especially on game nights or nights when there is an event going on
google avatar

Gwendolyn W.

Yelp
This place is great! It's tucked in a corner but it was packed with people! It seemed a little short staffed and they were running around like crazy. But the food was hot fresh and delicious. We love the pimento fritters and the burgers were great. We also got a couple drinks we liked too. Loved it!
google avatar

Grace H.

Yelp
So good, and the waiters were super nice and helpful. We were trying out the bourbon tastings and were super helpful. The burger was really good, but the fires were okay. Also, as an extra cost, I was hoping they would be better.

Kevin M.

Yelp
Went there on Saturday August 14th around 9:30pm. Bartenders looked like they wanted to be anyplace else. They also seemed as if they were closing the place which was dd as it was early for a Saturday evening.. Made us feel as if we should drink up and leave. Drinks were well made, though.

Adrienne D.

Yelp
Bartender was fantastic! Friendly service. Best Old Fashion. Coleslaw is a must. My husband had a burger, cooked just right. I had the crunchy salad with grilled chicken. It was excellent!
google avatar

Christina D.

Yelp
I hear Louisville is a foodie town, and Sidebar certainly helps it live up to its name! After a long flight from California, I definitely was wanting something yummy and delicious and this restaurant did not disappoint. We ordered the beer cheese and pretzels, which...bro. The pretzels and beer cheese were made fresh - the pretzels were crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside - a little oily, but hey, it's Kentucky :) the beer cheese had a subtle cheese flavor, and not too thick of a consistency. It was perfect to share, it had 4 pretzel pieces with some tortilla chips. I ordered the Ambulance Chaser burger which came with BBQ sauce, onion rings, and bacon. We ended up splitting an order of fries, the burger was massive! The burger ran $18, I was surprised it was that pricey. I guess Louisville is feeling the same inflation as LA! So, what drew me to this restaurant was a photo of the triple chocolate milkshake. I ordered it, and it was the most delicious chocolate milkshake I have ever had. It was chocolate cream on top of a blend of icy milk and bourbon. Superb. It literally tasted like Hershey's syrup with a hint of booze. The servers we had were kind, and brought the food out as soon as they could. Very hospitable. Would definitely eat here again!

Jennifer B.

Yelp
This is an amazing restaurant. We were in town for a convention and stumbled across this place. The drinks and burgers are amazing. We were very pleased with the food and service, so much so that we went twice while we were in town.
google avatar

Kimberly S.

Yelp
Very good. We flew in for our son's college graduation and we're so hungry! We found this spot right around the corner. We were immediately greeted and sat in an area away from the bar since we had our daughter with us. You can customize the burger or order as-is. I do wish my strawberry milkshake had a little more strawberries in it to give it more flavor, but the beer cheese and pretzels were tasty. Just what we needed to eat after an early morning of traveling. And like most places in Louisville, there were plenty of bourbon offerings.
google avatar

Lea L.

Yelp
A cute little spot for a drink and bite to eat. It has a dark, intimate vibe which is what we were looking for after a Long day on the road. We opted to sit at the bar where we had fast, friendly service from all the guys behind the bar. We ordered a Thai salad a Kale salad and truffle fries. Salads were huge, fresh and flavorful. Truffle fries were perfectly seasoned! I had one of the best whiskey sours I've ever had! Folks next to us had burgers and they looked legit. Definitely check the place out if you're in town.
google avatar

HP M.

Yelp
Service was outstanding! Ryan the bartender is so friendly and helpful. Lots of selection of bourbons and the food was great too!
google avatar

Stephen L.

Yelp
Great spot if you are looking to try a variety of different Kentucky bourbons along with tasty burgers. Sidebar has a whole "flight menu" with sets of different bourbon shots. I got the Straight Up flight, with 4 different Kentucky bourbons. I am definitely not a bourbon expert, but these seemed pretty high quality to me. $15 was a decent deal for this. I also ordered an Ambulance Chaser burger. The burger had bourbon BBQ sauce (tasted like normal BBQ sauce) and bacon and was pretty good. The tomato jam in the burger was also a nice, unique touch. The interior has both a bar area and an area with tables for more sit down dining. The restaurant has a nice yet casual kind of atmosphere, with slightly dimmed lighting. The service speed is quick and the staff were friendly. Overall, Sidebar is a great choice for some bourbon and/or burgers on the historic Whiskey Row. I would recommend it whether you are a visitor to Louisville looking to get a classic Kentucky experience or a Louisville native just looking for some drinks and tasty American food.
google avatar

Mike E.

Yelp
Burger 5 and consistent. Great flavor perfectly cooked and nice portion. Service 3.5 wasn't the warmest and most attentive server. No orders were wrong but some room for improvement. Drink 3 ordered a old fashion but for being in the bourbon capital of the world the drink was only eh. They do have a decent bourbon list and in hindsight I would have done a pour neat not a mixed drink. Over all I will be back and it is one of the best burgers I have ever had.
google avatar

Ric B.

Yelp
Great local whiskey row eatery/bar. Basically burgers, appts, & cocktails. We started off w/ Beer Cheese & Pretzels, then we had The Bailiff & The Hung Jury burgers with fries and shakes. The ambience is great with tables or eat at the bar. Not a large venue, can get a little loud but very friendly. Food was good but pricey since you are downtown on Whiskey Row.
google avatar

Holly B.

Yelp
Very Overpriced for the amount of food you get.$17 for a small hamburger that doesn't include fries.
