"Sidney’s Five features roasted oysters with a variety of toppings, including garlic herb, nori mayo, and chile butter. Chile butter is a favorite, which leaves a burn on the lips while not interfering with the fundamental flavor of the oysters." - Robert Sietsema

"Sidney’s Five is one of the newer spots on this guide, and it generally attracts East Village citizens who like to drink cocktails at bars that also sell corn dogs (which is to say, younger crowds and people who don’t take themselves too seriously). All the drinks at Sidney’s Five are under $15, plus there’s a whole martini menu if that’s your mood for the night. There’s a relatively long food menu as well, with stuff like lamb burgers, the aforementioned corn dogs, and raw bar options." - hannah albertine, nikko duren

"Sidney’s Five in the East Village serves an epic lamb burger priced at $23, created by chef Edie Ugot. The burger is cooked between rare and medium-rare, showcasing juicy lamb with mild gouda on top. A dab of mint jelly is optional, as the burger shines without it. Fries accompany the dish." - Eater Staff

"Like its next-door neighbor Mister Paradise, Sidney’s Five is a fun East Village bar where you should meet up with friends or take a date whom you might make out with in public. Unlike Mister Paradise, it’s not quite as busy, so it’s easy to grab an indoor booth or outside table. All the drinks at Sidney’s Five are under $15, plus there’s a whole martini menu if that’s your mood for the night. There’s a relatively long food menu as well, with stuff like lamb burgers, chicken skewers, and even a raw bar. We only stopped in for drinks, but we’ll be back to share a corn dog with a date. photo credit: Sidney's Five" - Carlo Mantuano

Awesome fun cocktails from USC alumni and Asian nuanced fare. Love their brunch and all of Chef Eddie's seasonal dishes. Bar open late on the weekends with a welcoming cozy vibe. Great happy hour 7 days a week!

I feel like this place is super underrated, but maybe that’s a good thing because then it’s easier to get a reservation here. Overall I really enjoyed this place. It’s very tastefully decorated - modern and stylish, with a nice cozy vibe. The food was delicious. We just had small plates but enjoyed the dishes. The sausage corn dogs were great and paired perfectly with the sauces and pickles (never thought I’d order a corn dog while dining out in NYC)! The oysters were also delicious. They have a good drink selection that’s reasonably priced. And the staff were great - very kind and attentive to replacing our water when it was empty. Overall a great experience and I would definitely come back.

Little gem in the East Village! Wide variety of brunch options. Shrimp and crumbled eggs were so great, especially the seasoning. French toasts were made from sour dough so the texture was more on the chewy side. I particularly like the complimentary dessert-dark chocolate coated strawberries! The service and vibe here were awesome as well!

Google
New open restaurant and I couldn't wait to come and taste the food. I must honestly admit that the food is of a very high standard. I especially recommend the hamburger with sweet and sour sauce. I've never eaten sweet and I must say it's worth a taste. Also oyster very fresh, amazing quality. Service at a high level, very friendly and polite. As for cocktail drinks, they still need to be seasoned and corrected. Definitely I do recommend this restaurant 👌

Google
Great brunch spot! I had a reservation for 6 outside but since it was so hot, the staff were able to sit us inside. Food was delicious! 2 of my friends ordered their famous corn dogs and they both enjoyed it. I ordered the french toast, primarily because I saw that they used proper sourdough bread! Portions are generous and prices were fair. Staff were great! Highly recommend this place for brunch!

Google
Sidney's was amazing, cocktails are so good. Came in around 1:30pm on Saturday and there were lots of tables available. There's outdoor seating if you're into that. For cocktails we got a Lazy Suzie and a modified Sidney's no. 5 (they were out of Pimm's) and both were delicious. The Sidney's no. 5 in particular was absolutely fantastic. For food, we got th watermelon salad and the Balthazar French Toast - that french toast is worth the visit, so good. Great place to come with a group of friends as well!

Google
Fun vibes the minute you enter. Go straight to the bar and say hi to Pam who makes the best martini's. Or chill by the chairs and lounge area for drinks which is what they're known for. Better still, head into the dining area for some great snack plates or entrees. I must recommend the lamb burger and the Fall Harvest Salad (available now, Oct/Nov 2022). Seasonal menu changes but the classics are always available. Sinful but fun - must try the popcorn drizzled with butter, old bay seasoning and herbs. Free popcorn refill one time as well.

The food was outstanding along with the milk punch that I tried. Everyone on staff was excellent as well. The Hungarian Mushroom Soup was a real standout hit with us.

Yelp
Sidney's Five is one of my favorite happy hour places! The food and drinks are delicious, the service is spectacular, and the outdoor seating is phenomenal in the warm weather. The cocktail menu is awesome, with my personal favorites being the Bloody Mary oyster shooter (pictured) and the martinis. My go-to food order is the fries with rosemary aioli, the deviled eggs, and the oysters. These make for lovely additions to your cocktail hour. The fries are made perfectly, and the deviled eggs are incredibly unique with a sweet and savory flavor. I'm gluten free, and unfortunately, there aren't many GF entree options, but because I love Sidney's Five so much for the happy hour vibes, I don't mind that.

Yelp
What can I say? Sidney's Five is a drop-everything-and-go-now restaurant. I mean it: stop the presses and leaf blower and head to Sidney's Five immediately. I wish I could say I picked the spot, but it's all good because my best friend did, and I'm glad he did. Sidney's Five is very easy to get off the F line. The restaurant is sandwiched between other restaurants ans so you must pay close attention that you are going into the right spot. Once you step in, you will be greeted by one of their friendly staff members, and the rest will be a night, meal, and drinks you won't soon forget. I had a hot chicken sandwich that was extra amazing. The bun was so soft and buttery, and the chicken was so moist and delicious beyond words. Sidney's has some fantastic cocktails on their menu. The bartenders are equally impressive because they know how to make a tasty cocktail that makes you want more. Oh, ua, before I forget, Sidney"s Five has an imcredubmae vibe ans so I would be sure to make a reservation because this joint is jumping. I could go on, but as I said, stop everything and go now. I promise you, you will get your life.

Yelp
I think I see why this place is closed. Tried to go there for lamb burger before it closed. It was so cold I had to move; then the new location was just as freezing!!! The server was really quite hostile and rarely came to take any orders. Food took so long (ended up back at the bar for a corn dog)- it was over an HOUR!!! -- we took it away. Because after an hour of waiting we left. Why wouldn't they let us cancel it after all that? Ugh.

Dan D.

Yelp
I haven't been here when it's a bar. As a Sunday brunch place, it's quiet, unhurried, and perfectly fine. I dropped by around 12:30 for food and the wait staff outnumbered the customers. I stayed for an hour, and I could've been there for more without them needing my table. While I was looking forward to the fish and chips, I was disappointed by the portion (one filet for $24 isn't really enough). But it was fresh, and the fries were welcome. The watermelon gingerade is worth ordering two of. So I did. You won't be disappointed if you stop here, but it's not worth holding out for, in my view.

Yelp
A moment of silence for one of the best bars in NYC. Cam, Ruth, Walker -- NYC heroes. I loved this place with all my heart. Great food, atmosphere, service, and of course drinks. Pouring out a flight of martinis for this gorgeous bar.

Laura O.

Yelp
We sat outside on a nice Sunday night. I like the outdoor option here, but be careful coming and going! Lots of people whizzing by in the bike lane. Drinks- Northern lights (Gin, chamomile-infused dry vermouth, green chartreuse, orange bitters): a great, subtle riff on a dry martini. You definitely get hints of the chamomile on the nose and the herbal melange of the green chartreuse is noticeable on the palate. Food- Charbroiled oysters: I'm normally a raw oyster purist, but I'm really glad I tried these. We had one each of the chili butter and garlic herb varieties. Both were great, with sizable oysters and exciting flavors, but the garlic-dill flavors of the latter were perfection. Green goddess Caesar salad: yes, it's just a Caesar salad, but it was really well-made! The dressing had little anchovy bits that added depth of flavor and the cheese was plentiful. My partner loved this salad so much that he started ordering Caesar salads everywhere trying to find one that could live up to it. Andouille corn dog (comes with two): Who doesn't love a corn dog? This is one of the better versions you'll ever have. It's not a greasy mess, and instead focuses on quality ingredients - andouille sausage, spicy mustard. Fish and chips: great version of a classic dish. The batter is not too heavy, and the cod is flaky and tender. The wedge fries are huge and delicious. We were also graciously gifted a couple of chocolate-covered strawberries for dessert!

Yelp
We found this restaurant by accident as we were roaming around East Village. What a nice find! Sidney's Five is a small cozy place with a bar. Most of the menu items are bite size snacks. Staff was friendly and quick with service. Monday was such a delightful night at Sidney's Five with Justin Habben entertaining us. She was so beautiful in her pink dress, while starting the night with a trivia game. Next, she sang and danced the night away. We ordered half a dozen oysters which I believe were from Prince Edwards. Small but delicious. Fish sauce wings which were delicious and crispy. However, the wings were very tiny. We tried their deviled eggs which were creamy and good. Pleasant night with lots of laughter and smiles. We'll definitely visit again if we're in town.

Yelp
I came here for brunch and got the lamb burger and it was amazing. Super delicious the fries were good. Nothing out of the ordinary, but good fries and we were able to have the space to ourselves for a 130pm brunch on a Saturday which was nice it only got a bit busier later in the day like around 2 - 230. I also got the watermelon gingerade. I'm not a big watermelon person and if you're not, I would not suggest to get it. I love ginger and lime however, the watermelon flavor surpassed that. the service was good and the music was also great, it was a lot of 2000s music.

Yelp
First time here and was super stoked to be ... all the reviews say it's a great cocktail spot and good eats to be found. They were right. Friendly staff and the great bartender Pam, rocked the drinks all night long. Happy Hour specials between 5pm - 7pm. Menu is simple and fun - think popcorn with spices and melted butter (caught my eye but I didn't try). Burgers and small bites Came for a birthday dinner with my friend and we opted to have our own tasting menu as our foodie experience here. This was the perfect spot for that. Fresh ingredients, seasonal offerings as well, so check with your server for the specials of the day. We really enjoyed the ricotta mushroom toast (was a special of the day). Great portion size as well. The best Fall seasonal salad thus far (kale, lentils, romanesco cauliflower). Especially the dressing, it was so delicious. It was a roasted pumpkin vinaigrette. For dinner: - My friend ordered the branzino which was excellent. Tasted so fresh and was accompanied with the best sauce, an anchovy cream. - I had the lamb burger with a green mint jelly, gouda, and red onion. Served with fries (you can swap for a salad). This was one of the best lamb burgers I've ever had. I asked for medium and it was perfection. The sesame bun added to the overall layers of flavors. Must try. Martinis are great! Be sure to try one...half price during Happy Hour too! A special shout out to Kam and the staff. They knew I was celebrating my birthday, so my server brought me a little plate of chocolate chip cookies with a candle. Too cute. Funny thing, I ran into my childhood buddy when leaving, he was seated at the bar. Both he and Kam made sure I did a birthday shot before leaving. Such an awesome night! Thanks so much! Something to note - no dessert is served here. It's just not on the menu, not offered. They just don't serve it.

Yelp
Cuisine: 7 Service: 8 Decor: 7 Value: 6 Overall: 7 Came here for a late night snack and drink. Sat outside since it was nice and inside was too loud. The drinks were fine and the food was decent too. Charbroiled Oysters (6/10) - Small oysters. There was no char flavor whatsoever. Herb & garlic was best, chili butter was not bad, but Nori was overpowering. Chilled Sweet Corn Gazpacho (7/10) - Pretty good on a hot night. Very refreshing and enjoyable. Butter Fried Shrimp Toast (7/10) - These had a nice aroma. Bread wad nice and toasty, while the shrimp paste was flavored well. May come back for a few more drinks and snacks next time. It's one of the many happening bars on the block, with three others right next to it.

Chantelle W.

Yelp
I picked this place out because they had charbroiled oysters and they can be so hard to find. The atmosphere and vibe was nice. They don't take reservations for parties less than 7. I got there at 6pm and asked for a table for 2 and he told me he would need the table back at 730. I didn't understand this, but I assumed maybe they'd combine the tables for a group reservation. Fast forward he never asked for the table back. It was very weird. I wish I remembered our servers name but I liked his vibe, he had a ponytail. They have a happy hour 5-7 with food and drinks which I liked. And it wasn't restricted to the bar. So they got lots of points for their happy hour. The food was good! Only thing I felt meh on were the chicken wings. They needed more something. They were pretty boring. But the description makes them sound so seasoned and they were not. The charbroiled oysters were my favorite. We tried each kind. We also had raw oysters. I'd definitely come back and maybe try an entree.

Fredrica A.

Yelp
This place has great reviews so I was looking forward to trying it out. I decided to come with a friend for brunch, and since it is a small, quaint space, I made a reservation so that I didn't have to wait too long, even though, when we got there, there was not much of a line. We decided to order a bunch of things, including the deviled eggs, the fried chicken sandwich, and the pancakes. We also got another entree but I truly can't remember what it was, it wasn't memorable. Be mindful that the deviled eggs only come with 2 halves of one egg. Though they are quite stuffed with filling, I think it it is a bit expensive at $9. The fried chicken sandwich was really good, though I wish they did a bit more with the toppings and condiments of the sandwich, but the chicken itself was seasoned amazingly. The pancakes were good, but nothing out of this world, and we had to purchase french fries separately as they didn't come with the chicken sandwich. In general I think it is a good restaurant, but not necessarily a great value from other people's recommendations. I think I would rather come back for their lunch and dinner menu.

Bonnie T.

Yelp
delicious and flavorful dirty gin martini! lots of room, decorated like a cozy diner kind of vibe. all next to a variety of bars and or restaurants if you're having yourself a little bar crawl. decent sized selection for small bites or a snack. extensive martini menu for and smaller cocktail menu. music is on-point and staff are cool!

Jenny W.

Yelp
I was in the mood for brunch on a Saturday afternoon after being in the East Village and Sidney's Five made it on the Google search list. So I decided to make a stop. It was fairly empty considering I stopped by around 1:15 pm on a Sunday afternoon. We got seated immediately and was serviced with tap water! The waiter and host were all really nice and friendly to help answer any questions I had. We ended up ordering Steak and Eggs and Fish and Chips. The pricing was a little bit much for these entrees, Steak and Eggs were $29 and Fish and chips $26. We didn't get any cocktails but they do have a martini flight available that other tables ordered around us. The food was good, nothing to brag about. The waiter did forget to ask how I wanted my steak so I did have to send my steak back and they fixed that up really quickly for me! Overall, it's a good brunch spot to catch up with friends or family!

Hannah M.

Yelp
I'm pretty on the fence about this place. The food is good, the vibe is good, the drinks are good, and the atmosphere is good...but are any of the above great? Honestly, no. I do think their martini flight is cute and interesting and worth going out of your way to try once and to snap a quick photo, but is it groundbreaking? No. The food is all reasonable priced but nothing is going to stand out. The kale salad was tasty but overdressed and the fries were notably average for $8. Why are fries $8 now? I don't understand it. Service is horrific. It was so slow and the servers were tripping over each other. For example, I had JUST ordered a drink a minute prior before another person came over and asked if I wanted to order a drink. Nobody came over and asked if we wanted a second round after our first, and I had to practically throw my card at the server to get him to close us out. Unfortunately at this point I don't think I'd go back, which is a shame because I actually liked this place.

Yelp
"Can we go back to Sidney's five?" is what my boyfriend asks me whenever we try to walk into 5 busy establishments without a reservation and inevitably get quoted a 2 hour wait. And I am always a little relieved. Sidney's five is my best kept secret. This place really does deserve more hype, but I've never been so happy to just walk in and be seated. First of all, the martini menu is outstanding. You can even get a martini flight for $20! But the food...omg. Do you like corn dogs? I've never had a corn dog before coming here at the ripe old age of 28. The sausage is thick, spicy, and served with pepper jelly and spicy mustard. There's also a side of pickles. For entrees, we've tried the porchetta style pork belly and the sheep's milk ricotta gnudi. The flavors were so earthy and warm! The pork belly is so tender and the pumpkin purée compliments the slight sweetness of the protein. I'm still dreaming about the gnudi. They're somewhat curried and taste browned. All the dishes paid very well together, so I encourage you to share. My boyfriend also enjoyed his Sidney burger. The burger comes with a huge plate of fries, so bring a friend!

Yelp
Almost don't want to write a review so that we could keep this place to ourselves. My wife and I came here randomly for a quick drink before dinner in the neighborhood. We almost ended up cancelling dinner to stay here but decided not to just so we'd have an excuse to come back. Sidney Five has a neighborhood diner/ beach restaurant vibe. The decor is simple but pleasing. The staff is fun and friendly. And most importantly, the drinks are delicious and so is the food. We had dinner coming up so only ordered a few items but thoroughly enjoyed them. I highly recommend the charbroiled oysters. They come in three flavors: nori butter, chili butter, and herb garlic. My personal favorite was the chili butter. Come during happy hour and they're fifty cents off each. Overall positive experience and will definitely be back.

Yelp
After ducking out of the trendy cocktail bar Mister Paradise next door we were relieved to find reprieve from the super loud music at MP. Normally I can get down with that ambiance on a Friday night but we were trying to have a conversation without having to shout over the super loud music, and Sidney's Five was significantly more low key. It's a cute little bar with charming decor and great drinks and we were surprised we had the place mostly to ourselves on a Friday night. Our bartenders were really friendly and poured us tasty drinks, like a strong dark n' stormy, and plenty of wine. I'm not sure what the service would be like on a busier night but since we were almost alone at the bar we had really attentive service, which we were appreciative of after a dinner that was lacking in that department. This isn't a bar I would seek out but it was a great option for something low key.

Kortnee L.

Yelp
Get ready for a flavorful menu that excites the senses and pleases the palate! Sidney's Five is a gluten-free friendly restaurant that will soon become a favorite if you're an East Village dweller. With the kitchen in the back and a quaint bar to attract walk traffic, this spot definitely gives upscale New York dive vibes. Reminds me of early 2000's NYC spots (think Drom, Sons of Essex, Epstein's). Came for dinner, stayed for the martini flight! The menu is concise and tasty. Takes into account all allergies, and their portion sizes are generous. Had the "Hustle & Flow", what a nice twist on a classic gin martini. Definitely get the Beet Chips- the ranch dressing (with dill) is HOMEMADE and delectable. Chose the Lamb Burger for dinner, medium rare (so just right) - and the arugula salad paired with it was perfection. Just the right amount of tart in the dressing! Make sure you try the Cavatelli - has lobster cream AND lobster chunks. Chefs kiss. If I lived in this area, I would frequent here often. The prices are well worth the purchase. Definitely coming back.

Yelp
Lovely staff, original menu, great produce, Balthazar bread, perfect martinis and a decent beer list. I'm excited by this place, it's going to be a keeper - shout out to Hannah the bartender who made a fantastic vesper and guided me through the menu. Noise low, outside seating available. Well done team!

Alex M.

Yelp
Great cocktails and great service! Been here a couple of times now and ways consistent friendliness and delicious cocktails. Def have great martini selection and really enjoy their experimental cocktails as well! Can't go wrong!

Jenny Z.

Yelp
Cute bar - I liked the lighting and vibes inside. Bar seating seemed intimate. Table seating was good too. The aesthetic reminded me of Greece / other Mediterranean areas - woody, white and blue. Drinks were good. Not loud on a Friday night - good for conversations. If you're on a date good to start here and then pop into next door's Mister Paradise.

Helen C.

Yelp
When you stroll up and down the busy streets of NYC, you can often find yourself either peckish for a quick bite or thirsty for some invigorating libation. With an infinite amount of possibilities, how does one choose where to go for the cure? Well, how about the restaurant that's new and inviting with the beautiful decor and friendly faces? Once I stepped into Sidney's Five, I felt as if I was transported into a different world where stress is not allowed and whatever you were miserable about will be soon replaced by nothing but memories you'll refer to as 'good times'. Hopping into a seat at the bar, we ordered a couple of appetizers and entrees from their soft opening menu. Don't worry, you will be dazzled by the big flavors in the small list of food. For starters, the corn dog is absolutely mind-blowing. It's not your typical corn dog, oh no, it is a boujee doggie. They use andouille sausage and it is served with mustard and a pepper sauce on the side; and believe me, you do not need the condiments but you sure would want to lick spicy sauce clean because it's so dang good. The Shrimp Louie salad was incredibly refreshing with the ingredients and flavors. This salad was popular many years ago but has dwindled so I was extremely delighted to see it available here. Bravo for bringing delicious back! Now for some serious business, let's talk sandwiches. The salmon pastrami came with a side of fries and the porchetta was accompanied with a bowl of arugula salad. Of the two, I preferred the salmon because c'mon, salmon. The fish was delicate, the sauce was heavenly, the bread was perfect so what's not to love? The porchetta was finger-licking good as well and the brioche was an excellent choice to hold the decadent meat. The chefs sure know what they're doing back there. The place was absolutely gorgeous inside and out. I really did not want to leave this dream of hangout spot but departing will only make me want to ravenously return soon and often. So if you're around, slip into this gem for their wonderfully executed food, marvel at the brilliantly designed space, and chat the day away with the amazing staff, you won't regret it.

Mony K.

Yelp
Excellent service and above average food. Overall, a good experience and would be interested in going back. The squid salad was good, but not something I would write home about. The venue is a little loud and it will be hard to have a conversation. Drinks were good.

Bansri P.

Yelp
Stopped in for drinks on a weekend. While they weren't able to offer us a table, we were able to enjoy a drink on the comfy sofas. The low-key, inviting atmosphere was 10/10. They were even able to make us a special mezcal cocktail that wasn't on the menu. Our waitress was incredibly helpful and had great recommendations! Would absolutely return when I'm back in the area.

Alex H.

Yelp
Sidney's Five is a fun bar serving seafood, martini flights, and a damn good burger. From the happy hour menu we ordered a half dozen oysters at $2.25 a piece and the burger and beer combo. At the waiters suggestion we went for the lamb burger served with Gouda cheese and a vibrant green mint jelly (which sounds weird but actually helped cut through the rich flavors of the burger). We also ordered a half dozen charbroiled oysters whose flavors included garlic herb, nori mayo, chili butter. Sidney's Five is a fun, unpretentious bar serving very solid food along with good drinks

Lorraine S.

Yelp
I've been wanting to try this place out since they opened but their outside dining option has been a crap shoot in the past. Tonight , 4/14/22, they offered outside dining. I just wanted to try a cocktail from them and the oysters. The cocktail I wanted wasn't available ( the salty cat ) so I opted for the Randy Savage. That was kinda a half star off. I also ordered a half dozen of the choice oysters for the night. The drink was ok and the oysters , well, you can't judge the kitchen on that. It was the service. I dealt with 4 workers. Maybe , that's what Sidney's 5 is ? I missed the the 5th ? Anyways , the first sat me down no problem there. Then I met the order taker - at first , I felt he was rushing me - I could've sworn , as he asked the standard " hi how are you tonight? " he added " and I'm fine , thanks " or something along those lines unprompted. Ok. It's a person of let's get down to business. My drink of choice as I mentioned above wasn't available. Then I met another person who handed me my oysters. I like when my oysters are described to me. Nope. All I got was " New Brunswick ". I do remember another person coming to serve me but I forget why. I just wish I got to know about those oysters and better service. And maybe if the outside patio is opened past 8 I'd come try those delicious sounding shrimp toasts and corn dogs and the others mentioned on the menu

Yaqi Y.

Yelp
This place offers HH drinks & oysters, not the best deal, since it's a 50 cent discount. I wouldn't call that a happy hour oysters. Ordered 4pcs of baked oysters for $3.5/each, usually $4 - tastes great but not a great deal. The martini and beer HH wasn't too bad, but seems the cost is on the higher side. The fish & chip was flavorful and moist, one filet but big. The service was friendly, but wouldn't recommend sitting next to the bar/ back counter area as it had an old rag smell. I would come back for drinks, not so much for the oysters.

Jacqueline C.

Yelp
I love the idea of oysters and a martini in East Village but unfortunately I didn't think this place was quite worth the hype. The east coast oysters tasted fishy / old to me, not briney as they should. The dirty vodka martini I had was just okay and the fried oysters were probably the best thing in our happy hour snack but also not outstanding. If you're looking for a cute atmospheric date spot with friendly staff this place fits that description perfectly, but don't think this is the best place food/drink-wise in NYC where the bar is incredibly high.

Liz S.

Yelp
Sidney's Five is a delight. The sequel from the cocktail bar Mister Paradise next door, the concept here is martinis and raw bar, perfect for a date night or a drink with friends, with gently modernized bar food. We walked in on a Friday around 7 with no reservation and were offered a standing space by the bar and a promise of the next open seats, which were duly delivered about 15 minutes later as we were sipping our drinks. Those drinks are uniformly excellent. The specialty here is martinis, priced at $15 a pop or served as an adorable flight for $20. Thus far I've only tried the Hustle & Flow, a gin-based version with an orange twist and a heavy dose of bitters. I've also tried the Randy Savage, a satisfyingly red mezcal sipper, and the Salty Cat, a divine salted plum number. They also have a wine and beer list--substantial markup but the "fish sauce" pet nat they have on offer was delicious. Naturally, any martini bar worth its salt has good oysters. They have one west and one east coast offered nightly--we've gone half and half each time and though we normally prefer west, have found the east to be better here. They're shucked well and served promptly. The menu is pretty wide-ranging, from classic Americana pork chop and deviled eggs to Thai green curry mussels. It has Asian influences along with Southern--nori mayo and pimento cheese are both in its vocabulary--without being pretentious about it. My boyfriend and I split the lamb burger, topped with gouda and a saturated-green mint jelly. I thought the flavors worked well together though it was a little generously portioned for one (and it also comes with a mountain of fries). But the real star was the special of the night, whole branzino, which was charred perfectly, and came with aggressively kimchi-flavored bok choy and a fried rice that was far better than it needed to be (and ended up soaking up our hangovers the next morning). Service is great-- bartenders are friendly and accommodating. We were offered complimentary chocolate covered strawberries and a parting shot of amaro. The atmosphere is buzzing, mostly twenty-somethings in a celebratory mood. I really liked the atmosphere sitting at the bar. It's fairly pricey but standard for the neighborhood--we spent about $80 per person after tax and tip, but we went all out and had a few drinks between us. Would work well for many situations, and I'm sure I'll find myself here for a happy hour solo burger and cocktail in the near future. I'd recommend a reservation for peak hours.

Yelp
Very fresh oysters! Grilled oysters are fantastic! Buttery and melt in your mouth. Vibes are here. Takes me out of New York for a bit. I love the colors inside and the dim lighting here. I think I ordered two orders of fries cause they are that good here!! I believe they are fried three times so they have a great exterior crunch and tastes so goooodddd especially with the sauce from the beet chips. Server was super nice and patient because my friend never had an oyster before!! Thanks! We will be back. Beer chips are nice and crunchy. Super cute spot with great menu items with twists.

Yelp
Not much to look at on the outside but really cute inside with great vibe. What a delicious brunch. Not crowded on both Sundays we went. So good we traveled all the way across town to go back. Full bar. Most drinks and Entrees were $17 The sandwich with crab should get a Michelin star! I'm not big on most French toast, but there's is worth a trip. Saw the pancakes and now I have to go back. Staff wonderful.

Yelp
First time hitting Sidney's Five in the East Village and we were not disappointed. Comfortable friendly neighborhood vibe and good food. Some food options were bigger hits than other, sometimes because of personal preferences...raw bar oysters, shrimp cocktail and the chargrilled oysters were pretty good, but if you've made a run at a NOLA chargrilled oyster tour, it's hard to make big impact. We tried several shared items, but the two big hits of the meal were the Cajun Corndogs with andouille sausage and the Thai Green Curry Mussels. Those were very good. I thought their Hustle and Flow martini was worthy off an additional round, and they had a tasty Grimm Ales apricot sour called Rainbow Dome on tap. Really enjoyed the visit and would return. I recommend without reservation...not that you shouldn't make a reservation, because you should.

Yelp
Loving this new addition to east village. Just stopped by for a brew, burger and oysters and could definitely see myself doing that more often! The burger was solid and the fries were seriously good... usually I would not comment on fries but something about these... and that herbed Mayo too. Delicious. Thanks for the hospitality, Sidney's! Will be back.

Yelp
I would love to give this place 5 stars , but the brunch menu was super limited. Maybe I'll go back for a full menu experience. Anyways I chose the shrimp toast , which was delicious. Worth a try for sure .

Yelp
Go for the food stay for the vibe. Honestly super impressed with the food here. Every dish was a hit. Every drink was a hit. Their vesper is delicious and so is the Paloma and the randy savage. The corn dog, mushroom and onion tart, shrimp toast, curried lamb meatballs, chicken wings and deviled eggs were all super good. Love the fun mix of different flavors. Had the burger for my main and the pimento cheese and onion jam combo was soo good. I love pimento cheese and this burger does not disappoint. My partner had the lamb burger and that was also super good. Great place to go for a night out for drinks or for a special occasion. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Ok! Having come here twice now, I feel more prepared to write this review. I came here both times for drinks and both times with a group of 6. We came and were seated at the bar or outside pretty quickly. The service is great and they check IDs and vaccination status at the door. I ordered a miller high life, a sour beer that was purple at the recommendation of the bartendress, who was incredibly personable and lovely, and a mixed drink that was very salty and tasted of the ocean. Ranked, I would say definitely order the sour purple beer, miller high life always a classic, skip the mixed drink. The sour was definitely tart but had a refreshing after taste. It was also thicker than I was expecting but no complaints about the viscosity, it somehow worked really well. I'd say solid place for an after dinner drink, decent cocktail and beer menu but nothing to lose sleep over. Come with friends and sit at the bar! The staff is great.

Yelp
Nice bar but extremely poor service. Our server, James G, was infuriatingly rude. Not worth visiting, plenty of great bars in the immediate vicinity.

Yelp
Great place for a night of martinis and oysters! Their specialty martinis come in more than 5 different flavors and you can even get a sampler. They have happy hour and much of the menu is available during that time. The oysters can come broiled. (Please try this yumminess if you haven't before) I highly recommend the lamb burger and fish & chips. The fish & chips is probably one of the best in the city. The fish comes in large chunks. The coating is not too thick and the sauce is awesome. The Lamb burger I believe comes with a sweet aioli and is quite heavenly. Even if you are on a budget, come by for happy hour and get the unlimited popcorn option. Probably the best savory popcorn flavors I've had. Cheers!

Yelp
Busy spot with great happy hour deals. I recommend the martinis, oysters, and unlimited popcorn. A nice vibe for an after work drink.

Yelp
Sidney's Five has a great vibe thats good for hanging out with friends on a saturday night. AND they got happy hour every day! Don't we love seeing that. So I started with a Milwaukee spritz which seemed to be like aperol spritz (+ other things?) with the miller beer which was not bad at all. I'm just not much of a beer guy. From there, we just had to get the oysters, which they have options from east and west coast! We tried both and they were both tasty (but obviously had a stronger affinity to the east coast ones #amirite). Lastly, finished with fish and chips cuz its been a while since I had it and boy that fish had an exoskeleton! Outside was soooo beautifully crunchy and the fish was tasty. So filling with the chips eh. I think the only downside we experienced was slightly slow service (i.e. waiting for food and check) but we weren't in any rush!

Yelp
I had the please of discovering this AMAZING place on tik tok the night prior to making the reservation. I came in from Boston to meet 4 of my good friends for a supper club dinner and the moment we walked in the Sidney's Five it felt like home. Super cozy with a great open kitchen feel. James, our server was so attentive, personable and knowledgeable it made out evening even more enchanting. I walked passed the kitchen and saw this woman running the operations who I later found out was one of the co-owners, Edie, who came out and brought us some dessert in the house! It was such a great gesture and I will be telling all of my friends about this experience. Not to skip over the food though: We had the Charbroiled Oysters; Both Flavors - Garlic Herb and Chili Brown Butter. Super flavorful, fresh and delicious. Fish Sauce Chicken Wings literally made me want to lick the plate the sauce was soooo yummy. 12 Fresh Oysters - Super Briney and Ocean Fresh. The Lamb Burger was truly a 10/10! All five of use cleaned our plates! The Frothy Girl Cocktail I had with Tequila was well balanced and flavorful. For a meet up with good friends and conversation this was SUCH a gem to find. Walker and Edie are doing such a superb job and I will be back! Ask for James - He is the MAN! Sorry for the lack of photos we literally were so engaged in the food that we didn't have time Lol. My only feedback is that the music was a tad loud for the space however it did not curve the experience at all. 10's Across The Board!

Yelp
I just had brunch here and everything was perfect. Cozy, chill spot with good music, good vibes, delicious food and great service.

Yelp
Run, don't walk, to Sidney's Five!! The food and service are outstanding! Started with the seasonal clarified milk punch - very refreshing! The oysters and shrimp from the raw bar were so fresh - and the accompanying sauces were perfect complements! We had the fish and chips and the Crab Sandwich for our entrees! The best fish and chips I've ever had -- the cod was moist and firm with the perfect amount of crunch! The crab omelet sandwich was loaded with crab. We loved everything about this restaurant and can't wait to come back again for dinner!

Yelp
A great place to come for dinner. I enjoyed the andouille corn dog and the gazpacho. The food is excellent along with the friendly service!

Yelp
The food here is amazing. We had a few different items and our only regret is that we couldn't order one of everything on the menu. The burger with melted gouda should be considered one of NYC best burgers. The cajun corn dog is a thing of beauty. While it might be a little spicy for some, if you enjoy a good gumbo you'll enjoy this. The best discovery here was the beet chips. Don't think, just go and enjoy. Oh and the cocktails and beer selection was totally on point. We'll be back. I just hope that it doesn't get too crazy so we can get a table without planning 28 days in advance.

Yelp
New fave and go to! Cute little place and super yummy. I have been trying to limit going out to eat to avoid eating seed oils like canola and soybean oil to be healthy. So when i go out i want to eat stuff that is not cooked in oil. My delicious options here include curry and oysters. The burger is SO GOOD too! Go get your happy hour oysters!

Chien L.

Yelp
A cozy cooler-than-diners bar and restaurant serving some killer martinis and an EXCELLENT lamb burger cooked to perfection. The happy hour menu is great, but the regular menu is not to be missed. Do not miss the chargrilled oysters!

Yelp
If I lived in the neighborhood, I'd be a regular. Sidney's Five is relaxed, but nice enough to bring a date. It has variety, so you won't get bored. And it has an amazing happy hour from 5-7 every day! $10 martinis? Yes, please! Sip on said martini, slurp up some oysters and don't forget that andouille sausage corndog. You'll have a solid time with some of the nicest staff around.
