This place is great for beginners and it definitely takes the ease and stress out of first time skiers like myself. The staff is super friendly and helpful. I wish the food was healthier and had better choices, but I am happy they serve salad, espresso Martini and beer on tap. My husband had a burger and I had a turkey sandwich with broccoli soup. The soup did not sit well in my belly and so I will just bring my own packed lunch in the future.

Sierra-at-Tahoe is an awesome ski resort! My daughter and I went the day after Christmas after not snowboarding for 4 years, and it was such a great experience. This is where my daughters first learned to snowboard, so it was exciting to come back. The staff here is incredibly friendly and helpful. Even though the weather was cloudy, with light snow falling and windy, the snow conditions were surprisingly good, and we had a fantastic time. The resort is perfect for families, with plenty of easy and intermediate runs that are great for all skill levels. It’s also super convenient, only about 1 hour and 45 minutes from Sacramento. I will definitely return! Highly recommend it for a fun and family-friendly snowboarding or skiing trip.

Google
This place is awesome. The vibe is totally different from any other Tahoe area resort. This is where a friendly people go to have a good time. Do yourself a favor and get a season pass. It’s the shortest drive compared to any Tahoe area result from the Sacramento area and is super dope. Compliments to the freestyle park staff. Even with limited snow they always put together nice jumps.

Had another fantastic family trip to Sierra. I still remember it being the Sierra Ski Ranch from the "old days". But this place ain't old but it is classy. The employees are really nice and I know they work their azz off. It ain't easy serving weekend warriors. This was the President's Day Weekend and it had the potential to be super busy. But it wasn't super busy. From my experience, it was just .....busy? The food is decent. I had the Mountain of fries with chicken. 7/10 I guess. Fyi..... no Veterans or First Responder rates on special weekends. It's all good. By the way, it's good to see the mountain cleaned up from the Calder Fire a few years ago. So brutal. It's such a beautiful area, and I wish I could ski it another 30 years. Cheers! San Francisco Fire

Google
2000 acres of bliss! Staff is always friendly, mountain is a great mix for all skiers, parking isn't to far from the lifts, unless it's a full day, then a little further but not bad. Food is really good at the 3 eating areas!

Sara and the team at Sierra-at-Tahoe were incredible! Their attentiveness and dedication to customer service truly stood out. Every staff member greeted us with a smile, making us feel welcome from the start. Sara went above and beyond—not only did she have our rental gear and paperwork ready each day, but she also remembered our first and last names. As a local, I don’t always expect that vacation-like experience, but the team made it feel special. Their commitment to top-notch service is truly commendable. Huge kudos to Sara and the entire team!

Google
This is a great ski resort. Good value for people who don’t have passes (although I think it’s now on the ikon pass) or only do one ski trip a year; their 3Pak (three non consecutive days, no blackout dates) is a good deal at $91/day, especially compared to many other places in Tahoe. Really good runs for beginners and intermediates. Sugar and Spice is a long, fun green run. And in the West Bowl, the blue runs there are basically groomie heaven… Bashful, Powderhorn, Pyramid, etc. The short blue runs off Sugar and Spice, Hemlock and Shortswing, are also fun. They do not groom their black runs so I only felt comfortable doing Clipper which is in the huge West Bowl area, but that is a great run too! And I saw a lot of advanced/expert skiers having fun so there’s definitely terrain for them too. And the staff is exceptionally nice and cares deeply about Sierra-at-Tahoe. I had an all around great experience, from the staff who helped me get my rental boots and skis to ski patrol to the lifties. Thanks to all of you! I will tell all my friends to go skiing here :).

Amazing snowboarding, lots of different trails for all skill levels. Has a very long beginner trail that goes from the top, it's great.

Yelp
3/9/2025: Sunday was PACKED at Sierra At Tahoe--Ski Patrol handing out hot chocolate chip cookies which was a welcoming, awesome treat! The snow was hard-packed while the Ski Lodge was full of tired Skiers. We were also tired; we left after hanging out for a few hours.

Yelp
Extremely rude ski instructors. No matter how long you're in line the ski instructors will cut in front of you with multiple skiers without a single word. Some even had the audacity to say we were in the way and to MOVE. Being our second ever day snowboarding we (as with anyone else) are still learning and struggling. I was walking with a foot out and lost control as I was coming into the lift line. I couldn't get over to the correct line and bumped into a skiers stick. Yes a STICK.I apologized. Didn't matter, The ski instructor started yelling at me about being in the wrong line. I kept telling her I'm getting over, and it was a simple mistake. she just kept getting louder and louder. I was at snails pace when I entered the wrong line as I just rolled from the main entrance of the mountain. No real space to even pick up speed. She kept getting louder and louder to attract affention. Someone yelled at her to calm down and it was not that serious. She yelled back "It is when it effects the safety of my students" E eryone started laughing with someone telling her to just stop. Which she didn't. She made our entire wait in line annoying as she wouldn't shut up. On top of that the prices for food is outrageous. Especially with everything tasting of freezer burn, flavorless, and really terrible. We're not expecting 5 star dining, but for $20-$50 a person, some effort would be nice

Yelp
I loved our fast and furious one day snow day at Sierra. Because we weren't skiing or snowboarding, it was easy to navigate from the parking to tubing. It was packed for skiing/snowboarding & I am glad I avoided that. The resort is lovely and well kept especially the bathroom. I appreciated the bench to stow gear while using the restroom despite the restroom being down a flight of stairs. I thought all aspects of the resort was rather pricey and ridiculous that you have to pay to play in snow for snow that falls from the sky :/ i can understand the tubing costs but to play in the snow? To watch your kid tube? Boo. Thumbs down. I am definitely glad I packed our pockets with quesadillas, chicken nuggets & gummy goodies that fed the 3x of us for $10. A single burger was nearly $20 and would have left us all hungry. It was challenging to navigate the smaller dining areas especially with all our snow clothes & two kiddos in tow. Overall, I'd do it again and perhaps on a weekday when it's not so crowded!

Yelp
Sierra At Tahoe is a nice friendly family ski resort. It has 2000 skiable acres, with 25% beginnger, 50% intermediate, 25% exert runs. The base is at 6,640 and the peak is at 8,852 acres and the longest run is 2.5 miles. There are a woping 5 terrain parks, a1/2 pipe, and tubing hill for the snowboarding and tubing crowd. I've had good luck finding parking near the base, even on the weekends, but it's first come first serve. There's a variety of places to each and drink in the main lodge, Solstice Eatery, 360 Smokehouse BBQ, and the Baja Grill. The offer serving breakfast, lunch, pub grub, drinks, BBQ, and Tacos, I recently tried the chicken tenders in The Aspen and was impressed by the portion size and how moist the chicken was on the inside. I had leftovers there was so much food, so it was a good value for the price. Sierra really has a lot to offer for a medium size resort. It's a great place for families, beginning, and intermediate skiers and snowboarders. Day tickets are about 1/2 the price of some largers resorts, and it also isn't as crowded. Which makes for less time in lines, and more on the runs, on those busy weekends.

Yelp
We have been skiing the Tahoe area for years and Sierra is by far my favorite. While some of the other resorts are newer, bigger, and fancier, Sierra is convenient. You drive in and park in one of the four lots ( depending on if you paid extra or not.) Then you literally cross the street, go to a kiosk for your pass and go down the steps to ski. They have a few different lifts- we love the Grandview express. It takes you to the top of the mountain and you can choose between an easy green route, black diamond routes and or even areas for open play. The paths are well maintained and it's well staffed. The only bummer is that the fires went through this resort and you see a lot of devastation coming down the hill. I should also mention the BBQ place at the top of GrandView is pretty good for ski resorts. We got a couple rib eye sandwiches, fries, smoked mashed potatoes, corn bread and sodas. It was all decent. But the smoked mashed potatoes were soooo good! Much better than most larger resorts I've tried

Yelp
I got a private lesson here abd within 15 minutes the instructor Peter got me up on a lift and I was a complete beginner. I didn't fall once and had a great time. Booked another lesson I'm hoping they are as good as my first instructor.

Yelp
Very quick process to get my tickets at the kiosk. Loved the slopes, lines were fast for a January non-peak Saturday since they have single rider option. They have staff mid mountain warning people to slow down speedsters so that's good because there were a lot of close calls for my kids. Wish they had wearable lift tickets instead of just cards. My kid lost hers (and it doesn't help that it's white). I recommend a card holding keychain to keep track of the loft card. Food is pricy in cafe but my kid's pasta serving size was very small. Couldn't finish my chili cheese fries though, definitely too big!

Yelp
Really bad experience today (Saturday Jan 25). We have the Cali Pass and called Friday to make sure that they were good for today and assured they were. I was told that all we needed to do was go into the pass office and they would issue a day pass (we are supposed to be able to ski three days free through Powder Alliance). When we got there we were told that Saturdays don't count. After looking at the PA website that appears to be true, however that said... why did the person on the phone tell me differently???? We waisted a total of six hours driving (three hours each way), $60+ in gas, $30 for parking, and $13 for a locker. We explained it to the "manager" in the ticket office but were essentially told "sorry out of luck". She made absolutely no effort to make us less unhappy with the situation. She could have at least offered some sort of accommodation for our troubles. Needless to say, we are VERY DISAPPOINTED in Sierra-at-Tahoe. I doubt that we will ever come back.

Yelp
Really fun resort. Snow was fluffy and nice on a sunny April day. Plenty of free parking. Very friendly instructors. Easy commute from the East Bay. We'll be back next season!

Yelp
The good. As a snowboarder the terrain is pretty fun here. Good medium sized mountain with some diverse riding style opportunities. The bad. Someone stole my sons almost brand new board from the public deck area in the middle of the day. Filed a report with security. 'Oh we never have theft here'. Keep your board with you at all times. Lesson learned. So much for the 'friendly vibe'. : /

Yelp
I was skiing with my two grand children at Sierra At Tahoe today on New Year's Day. We had a wonderful time. The lift lines got a bit busy but resort staff was so great. We had lunch in the cafe and had a little situation. Employee FLOR was so very helpful, kind and patient. I was so impressed and did not want this day to go by without acknowledging her kindness. Lunch was fantastic

Yelp
As a first time skier the instructor MATTERS here. Skiing is so vulnerable for anyone new to learning and it can be so intimidating I'd highly advise taking learn to skii + all Mountain skii in one day together( I did them seperately in two separate days which wasn't fun especially when I had friends I wanted to skii with on the second day ) . Ben led my all mountain ski and made a glowing impact and motivated me and was so patient and safety focused as an instructor and made me excited to skii again. But I do have to say another instructor I took on a separate day at this resort (who won't be named because people can have bad/ off days too) I had the first day was not the best for the learning to skii class and I can't tell if the curriculum was limited or the headcount was too big which demotivated me. But all in all amazing instructors like Ben can make skiing loved by anyone (even me who's so clumsy and is a grown adult crying that a lil toddler was doing better than me) . Ben was magnificent and this lodge is amazing and family owned which attracted my interest . This place is amazing- but instructor matters !!

Yelp
Please read! Review of a very busy day at Sierra. Best customer service experiences. I want to start off that I am not a fan of snow but my daughter really wanted to try skiing for her birthday. Here is how the day went. Parking: was a breeze. Plenty of parking attendant's manage cars coming all at the same time. Check-in: kiosks are easy to use to get your passes. Lockers: available for purchase in all different sizes and use a code so you can share with your group. No key needed. Outdoor seating is really nice but I do recommend you snag a table early if you plan to have someone sitting all day. Restrooms: there are restrooms in both lodges that are clean. Also portable-potty's as options. Rentals: we brought our own but I looked and the line was organized and moving fast. Ski class: instructors were fun and easygoing. Water was provided since it was a sunny warm day. Bunny lifts: attendants were kind and helpful to terrified newbies (us). Slopes: can only speak to the bunny hills but they were great in my family's opinion. Lines: nothing had long lines. Food: clean and fast moving. Choices between fancy and simple cafeteria food but all were great. Lots of eatery options. Bars in both buildings and Bloody Mary's on point! There was a moment mid-day where my daughter's ski's and poles were taken, this is where the folks at this resort were great. They offered to give her rentals from the resort (even though we brought our own gear!), they walked me to security (didn't just point me to another building). Security took my information on the missing items and they gave me some pointers to find our items. They were very busy with lots of people missing items. At the end of the day we used their advice to wait for people to drop their items, and by end of day someone did return her gear (I think it was an honest mistake). Security was super nice and excited we found our stuff. Lastly, we were on the hunt for a type of ice cream we thought we saw and I asked around. One of the bartenders went the extra mile to call each food place to see who sold it, saving me from having to walk around in ski boots all over the place. The customer service here is top notch which made my daughter's birthday great despite the missing gear. I hope people support this resort and the people who run it. I am sure it is a tough and many times thankless job but they all seem genuinely happy to be there and help. They have earned our return business.

Yelp
Sierra touts itself as family friendly. For the most part, it is. There are multiple options for lessons and even full day care for those who would like to have some alone time from their children. Definitely not a hardcore double black diamond epic bro list of runs type of place. More of a cruiser hill which has opened up due to the Caldor fire's removal of trees. Lots of black toothpicks (burnt trees) sticking up out of the snow. Go on a weekend and you may stand in line a fair amount. Weekdays aren't as bad...people are starting to catch on to this idea though. For a nominal fee ($309), you can purchase a Fast Pass lane add-on. Not as much of a drive (but very close) as it is to Tahoe. Heavenly isn't that much further up, but sometimes the road is less than ideal. Also good as an "oops, I want to take another run but I've already left a big Tahoe resort" stop. Great place to teach folks how to ski. Graduate to more difficult runs and you may run out of terrain that is challenging enough.

Yelp
Used to come to this place all the time growing up. They definitely have the best food in comparison to all the skiing resorts and they have decent pricing. With the fire the entire place looks super different so that was a bit of a shell shock. The snow was powder but almost all the lifts were closed so that was a bit of a bummer. I'm still a big fan but I definitely won't be back until the trees are regrown and the lifts are all open

Brent L.

Yelp
I want to love this place, I really do. However, I doubt it can last many more seasons due to both terrain and operational issues. About half the terrain burned up in the Caldor fire, which means there isn't much skiable area on this hill. This is just a sad fact. To compound the issues, phones are rarely picked up, policies seem to be at the discretion of employees, and last time I went a couple of the lift operators were pointedly rude to some of the guests. Given the loss of terrain to the fire, one thing the resort could do to position themselves favorably is cater to families with young children. Sadly, Blizzard Mountain is a complete joke and an offensive money grab.

Yelp
The ski resort is great, but had a really negative experience at the tube park. We were walking up the hill to meet our friend and her kid, but were told by the employee that we need to sign a waiver but don't need to pay. No problem. But when we went to the kiosk to sign the waiver, the employee in the shed was super rude and told us we need to pay. Which is fine, but the attitude was unnecessary.

John W.

Yelp
Really good experience with Sierra staff today. While I was eating lunch, my skis were taken by someone, whether by mistake or on purpose, who knows. This was on day 1 of the 3 day pass I'd just bought, so needless to say I was super bummed. Even worse, the skis were rented from a place in town, not from Sierra. I went to security who took me to the rental shop and THEY GAVE ME A FREE 3 DAY SKI RENTAL so I could ski my pass days, even though I hadn't rented from them in the first place. Crazy that they did that, and so cool! Even better, a few days later they found my missing skis, so the shop in town got them back and I got a refund for the lost skis, which I really didn't expect to happen. All in all, awesome customer service and I'm super grateful to Sierra for being so great!

Melissa P.

Yelp
Not crowded, affordable, lots of interesting beginner and intermediate terrain. More experienced skiers like the black diamonds, jumps. Friendly, helpful staff. Good prices for season pass, especially if you get them early.
google avatar

Napha S.

Yelp
Do not come here. I repeat do NOT come here. They have horrible service and will charge you double. I paid for a season pass for my then 12 years old at the time... when I came back a different time and I asked for a card because we couldn't find it, They charged me for an adult season pass because they said he's 13 now. They did the same thing to another customer after us.

Yelp
A personal favorite resort as I started to learn to ski in 2023. Sierra is GREAT FOR BEGINNERS! Sugar n Spice is an entire green run from top to bottom. I really like the Easy Rider Express as I can easily practice and the lift is only a couple mins max. On weekdays, hardly any crowds! Parking is a breeze!
google avatar

Roy F.

Yelp
Very dangerous and extremely crowded. Over sold tickets. Employees do not regulate their policies. Snowboarders and some young skiers are very aggressive. They cut people off, even small children. My child was hit in the face by a snow boarder at the lift gate. The lift operator didn't say anything to the boarder that he's being overly dangerous and could seriously hurt someone. I arrived a little late and the boarder had already left!!! I attended to my child's trauma and big bruise! This is not acceptable!! Yes, waivers, but if someone is hurt, there will be litigation for sure!!!!!

Yelp
Ok... I really want to give 5 stars to Sierra, I love the place, I've been coming here for years, I have a season pass, I'm not sure I'll be renewing my season pass because the place is in poor shape and they don't seem to be putting in much effort to fix things. Half the resort still looks devastated by the Caldoor fire. I'll try and break this down in a couple bullet points below. Lifts: the four man chairs are fine for the most part, they are starting to show their age but they work. The smaller older chairs are uncomfortable and sllllooooww!!!!! They all need a fresh coat of paint, the padding on a lot of the chairs are starting to get uncomfortable. The operators tend to be cool guys, never had an issue with them. The mountain: this is going to take a couple paragraphs. One major grip I have with all of slopes at Sierra this year is the lack of any attempt to groom runs. Only having a 4-5ft base is no excuse, in the Midwest they start grooming runs when there's only 3ft of snow. The Grand view side is now the best best place to go up, it gives you a large amount of options, you can go to the back side, castle (which used to be one of the best runs), easy runs for beginners like Sugar and Pice l, the runs are really long, you can hit up a wide variety of terrain and difficulty as well. I do have one major gripe, the best area Castle and dynamite are burnt out, there seems to be no attempt to fix things or create the illusion of fixing things, very disappointing, I didn't really go to Sierra at all last year bc I was hoping they would spend the last two years fixing the fire damage, no real attempt seems to have been made to fix things. The West Bowl side was ok but now with the fire damage it is just a boring field of devastation.... It's been two freaking years, next to no effort seems to be being put into fixing it, no trees means there is no real defined runs and it should be renamed the soup bowl, it's the place that always got the most sun and now with no trees it's a soupy mess. It's boring and sad, not even worth your time to go look at. I grew up in the Midwest... most the resorts like Alpine Valley and Devils Head in WI are 10x better then the west bowl side and they have half the elevation! Backside, the back side is now my favorite place to go, it still has trees and some really fun off trail spots to bomb down, especially after a fresh snow! The only downside with the back side is that it's small. It also has good range of different difficulty so I can go back there with friends who aren't as good. Lodge amenities and food: it's not great but not awful, the lodges feel really old and dated, the food is not bad for lodge food. 360 BBQ at the top of grand view has the best food and view. They do have average WiFi at the lodge at the base. Pro shop: it's really bad, it feels newer on the inside but it's about the quality of the gear, jackets and pants feel cheap and over priced. They have a decent googles but they are extremely overpriced and their selection is weird. Snowboard selection is also meh but worst of all is the staff in there, they really have no idea what they are talking about, they need training, they seem to push the most expensive thing, the ones that really don't know much at all are actually the good ones bc they won't push the most expensive new thing. I've had to go in a couple times over the years to buy a pair of googles or gloves... never again for gear BUT the T-shirt selection is fun and they have some good stickers other apparel like hoodies and hats feel cheap to me and my friends (I asked to make sure it wasn't just me, all my friends agree on this 100% and we range from 20 years of experience to just 2 years). Parking: it's fine, it's never really crowded especially these days, I've always been able to get packing in the B lot close to the slops. In the end Sierra is a good place on bad times, this will probably be my last year as a season pass holder, I'll probably be going to Palisades from now on unless they really try and put some effort into fixing things. If it's a money issue they should hit up or sue the state of California for their awful wildlife prevention/wildfire fighting that caused the damage in the first place. Ultimately I'm disappointed.

Alan F.

Yelp
Haven't been here for seven long years. The fire totally changed the look, however not the feel. Employees and runs were great considering. If you get a ticket, go say Hello to Jo Lynne. A quick convo while getting my season pass sent me away smiling! Enjoy!

Yelp
This is strictly for cubbie lesson. I purchased the $324 package for my 4yr old only to realized at pick up that she was sick and napping the whole time. It would have been nice to get a call earlier in the day so that we can reschedule. I just dumped $$$ for someone just to watch her nap!! Painful to eat up this cost!

Yelp
I Love Sierra at Tahoe and it has been my favorite Ski Resort. Learned to ski there in 1992 and have had a season pass for at least 25 of the years since. Skied there 4 days so far this season. However let's face it, Sierra is on a downhill slide. No lift upgrades for ? 35 years. Except for a bit on the bunny slope, NO snow making! I've been faithful through the Fire even though the lack of trees has taken away one of its biggest charms. Surprised they haven't taken advantage of the open bowls to add at least a couple more runs. Now they've gone the way of the mega corps and have gone Cashless. Don't see it on their website so it's a surprise when you get there. I can name a dozen reasons why one wouldn't carry a credit card etc while skiing. This is pissing off a lot of people. Heard they had a theft via an inside job a while back. Is that really reason enough for Cashless? I talked to a couple staff members who are unhappy because their tips have really dropped. Myself and friends are certainly not tipping because of this. I seriously doubt Sierra is helping staff make rent by compensating them with higher wages. Now with the one sided ICON connection one has to wonder if a sale to Mega Corp is imminent! At least then we would probably get snow making and lift upgrades

Angela Z.

Yelp
If you want a lesson to learn to ski, get the private lesson instead of the group lesson or you will be wasting your money! My family and I have NEVER skied before (my husband had but that is beside the point), but my 20-year-old son was really interested in learning and had talked about it for years. So we finally booked a trip to Tahoe and signed up for a group lesson. I had reviewed all the resorts in Tahoe and Sierra at Tahoe was supposed to be the best for beginners as they have a sectioned-off lesson area and a dedicated conveyor belt and hill just for learning. We bought all the clothing, goggles, gloves, etc, and rented helmets and skis and were super excited to give it a go. Well...that excitement didn't last long. My daughter (18) and I (51) lasted about 15 minutes before we gave up and left the lesson as it moved much too quickly for us and the instructor had a hard time juggling the varying skill levels of my family and the other learning skiiers in the group who had already skied bunny hills the day before. We barely made it to the part of moving with just one ski on when she was "ready to move up the hill", but "was afraid we did not know how to stop yet." She was correct not only did we not know how to stop, we didn't even know how to start on 2 skis yet! So feeling like we were holding the group back and were not making the progress necessary to keep up, my daughter and I took off our skis, left the lesson, and watched the rest from the patio near the cafeteria. My son and husband continued with the lesson with a new instructor, who was teaching a different group how to stop, as our instructor had gone up the hill with the rest of our original group. The second instructor spent a bit more time teaching my son but was becoming frustrated with the lack of progress, which in turn frustrated my son, who then quit the lesson at about the 40-minute mark and joined his sister and me on the patio. My husband, having skied before, went off on his own to ski using the lift pass we got as part of the lesson. So even though we signed up for a 2-hour group lesson to learn to ski, the only thing we learned was that we are not capable of skiing and had just wasted over $600. Personally, I believe that it would be a much better experience for everyone if the lessons began with an introduction of the group participants and an inquiry into their skill level and experience and then groups could be made based on that, assigning individuals with similar experience levels in the same group, as multiple group lessons were happening at the same time. This way no one gets left behind or holds up the more ready skiers. Overall, we are disappointed as learning to ski was the entire reason for our trip and we just didn't get the experience we had hoped for. We knew that we would not become pros in one lesson, but we hoped to be able to learn the basics and at least make 1 run on the practice hill, but sadly that did not happen. Maybe if we had booked a private lesson things would have turned out differently.

Yelp
This is for the snowboarding lesson. My son went for his lesson today. I signed him up for 7-10 years old. He just needed to learn how to stop properly. They inappropriately put him in the 5-6 years old super beginner group like he had no knowledge of anything and said because they didn't have a lot of instructors today for all the kids. I watched him throughout the day and saw that they spent most of the time playing red light green light, building snowman, just hanging out. There was no organization or hardly any teaching. Most of the time the kids either just playing with the snow or on their own trying to figure things out while the instructor seems to just hanging. After a while all of the snowboarders in the group lost motivation and just wanted to play. When I expressed my concerns, the supervisor was rather defensive and said that they just wanted to kids to have fun and if building snowman was fun for them they would let them do that all day. I said kids were here to learn and the instructor could teach in the way that is fun but not just playing games with the kids. Other parents in the group also complained and got the same response. We wasted money, time, and time away from our kid. I'm uploading two snowboarding videos my kid did last year at Northstar and this year photos at the lessons at Sierra so you could see that it was inappropriate for them to put him in a wrong group (5-6 instead of 7-10), and super beginning with a very inexperienced instructor. And by the way, my son took one group lesson last year at Northstar and had a blast. They took him on green then blue and the instructor really got him inspired and he had so much fun. They said he was great. Sierra at Tahoe kept him at beginner with kids younger than him and yep he acted as he didn't know how to snowboard for them. Shame on Sierra at Tahoe ski school!

Yelp
I grew up coming to this resort. Just recently came back and its still awesome. Brought the kids here and was able to test out their kids program. Daughter (7 yo) had fun. She liked her instructor and made some new friends. Most importantly, she wants to go back and try again. They took care of her the entire day which includes lunch. The only thing they didn't provide was a helmet but you can rent one there. We brought our own. Took my boy to the west bowl and was sad to see that all the trees got burned down but at least the runs are still there. Love the huge wide runs on that side. They have a high speed quad chair over there that you can ride all day. Unfortunately without the trees, not as much 'exploring' to do. Still fun though. There's also a nice smaller bar area to relax a bit on that side as well thats not as crowded as the main lodge. The backside wasn't open when we went which I remember to be great as well. The park was fun with a lot of hits, tabletops, rails, and well groomed jumps. We saw some slalom going on with gates and everything. All staff that we interacted with were super cool and informative as well. Recommend to purchase your passes online and definitely reserve if you're going to take a class. Rentals got crowded as well so get there early. Also leaving was the WORST! There's only one road getting out of there and a lot of people need to make a LEFT onto the 50 which took FOREVER! Took us 1.5 hrs just to get out. It was probably due to the fact that it started snowing so traffic was backed up on the 50. If it snows, get off the mountain early or you'll be waiting forever to get out. They really need some sort of traffic control. There was a police car there, but he was just sitting there with his lights on. Didn't seem too helpful. Overall, we enjoyed our day and the mountain has some nice runs.

Yelp
This ski resort is sooo fun. I go snowboarding every year & this is one of my favorite spots. If you're a beginner & you don't have gear, do the lesson pass that comes with gear, lesson & lift tickets. Yes that lift ticket can access all lifts.

Yelp
Our family of 5 had a great Easter day - parking was packed but the mountain seemed empty on a lot of the intermediate/advanced runs. It's a great mountain for intermediate-level. The guys/gals in the rental shop are top-notch! So friendly, and efficient too! Lockers conveniently located right outside of rental facilities. Grabbed lunch up top at Smokehouse BBQ - again, staff was super friendly (I think the guys name was Seth? - worked at the bar and got our food order placed) - great service! Great Lake Tahoe views on the top deck! Fun mountain - and super friendly staff - We'll be back for sure!

Yelp
This is a solid resort that has something for everyone. I live close by so this is my go to resort. And I really like it for its family friendly, low key atmosphere. There is a great beginner slope with a chair lift and magic carpet. The lift to the top also has a long beginner run snaking down the mountain. There's a good selection of intermediate and advanced terrain as well. I have snowboarded for decades and enjoy going in the trees, steep terrain, and moguls and there's enough here to keep me entertained. The lodges are basic, food is okay, staff are nice. It doesn't have the fancy amenities or vast terrain like Palisades. But it's a great mountain with nice views of the Sierras and you can see a little bit of Lake Tahoe from the top on a clear day. All around good vibes keep me coming back.

Yelp
Mountain is not the same after the Caldor Fire but not in a bad way! Just different. Always a good time here, now there are more open areas to really break free and pick up speed in the powder off the main runs.

Yelp
This is a review only for the rental shop. I've had my own equipment for years and couldn't say the last time I had to rent. That said, I brought my kid and I had to rent everything to spend a day snowboarding. Just so you know, it's 65 bucks plus extra for a helmet. For the day. Staff was efficient. The whole reason I'm writing this review is to point out specifically that Alyssa did a fantastic job with her customer service skills. She made a pretty "meh" experience, something much better.

Yelp
My 3 year old applied for a day care and took her for a ski class and they just left her at the bottom of the carpet/ramp with no clear instructions on what to do and left her crying for about 15 mins! If it wasn't for another coach helping, she would've been just sitting there crying! For $300, that's how you do your program???

Yelp
Please think twice about letting your kids take lessons here, as we had a very upsetting experience over Presidents' Day weekend. We dropped off our kids for the Pioneer program in the morning, with the expectation that we will pick them up at 3:30 pm. AT 2:30 PM IN THE AFTERNOON, we received a call from the school that they could not provide an instructor for our kids that day and that our kids had spent the ENTIRE DAY inside the school building. It took 5 hours for someone to finally decide it was time to notify the parents. My kids will not be entrusted to this school and their ineptitude ever again.

Yelp
The Lord giveth and the Lord takith away. He sometimes works in mysterious ways. Look elsewhere. Don't bring your service dog here either because they're not welcome. You'll be constantly harassed about it! I've had three staff members tell me that "dogs aren't allowed" and each time I politely asked, "Even if she's a service dog?". The way the staff...

Yelp
Sucks Hello, my partner received a benefit of a season pass after buying a whole ass damn Subaru new. We realized that your pass holder benefits do not apply to the pass they received for buying this Subaru. I would like you to know that this policy sucks ass. Let me restate this: this policy fucking sucks fucking ass. Why the fuck would you exclude benefits to this pass. That is not a question, that is a statement. Excluding benefits to those passes that are intended to be marketing to new car owners is dumb as shit. Please forward this to your ceo, your cfo, and your dumb as shit chief marketing officer. Yours in perpetually marketing against you on social media. JTFC, Jim

Yelp
I love skiing here! Staff is always friendly. The lifties are pleasant, and the wait times are quick. A lot of diversity between all the different runs. Favorite resort ever!!

Yelp
Beautifully laid out slopes, excellent customer service. EXCEPT for one person (Heather) who should not be customer-facing in the Ticket office who is extraordinarily rude. Everyone else (staff) at the resort has been incredibly helpful. It's also lovely they have events going on frequently. Favorite snowboarding resort.

Yelp
I booked adult snowboard lessons for myself and my daughter. I don't recommend Sierra for any kind of lessons adult or child. From start to finish I observed rude, aggressive and disrespectful behavior used towards every student. At one point I listened to one employee tell another " It's okay to throw shade at a beginner" or " you're not from around here, are you?" as well as instructors and desk staff rolling their eyes and mocking customer. It's especially disheartening to see the little ones treated badly in a teaching environment. I don't know who is fostering this kind of behavior of if anyone is paying attention to the employees but, it's absolutely shameful.

Yelp
By far my favorite ski resort in the Tahoe area! Not only do we love to support one of the few resorts around that is fairly priced and not super corporate, but the terrain is just amazing (before and after Caldor), and the people who both work and ski here are so much friendlier than your average resort. I'd highly recommend it to anyone from jerry to ski junkie!

Yelp
As a past season pass holder and long time skier in the Tahoe area, I must say I'm extremely disappointed with the continued "first-come-first-served" policy. During normal times, it is arguably understandable as a general policy, but with hard 20% capacity limit due to pandemic regulations, this policy makes absolutely zero sense other than to maximize profits banking on that many paying customers would be too discouraged to redeem their paid passes/tickets--a donation to the ski resort of sorts that I'm sure they won't lose any sleep over. Although the web site requires you to specify specific days you will be skiing, it apparently is not a reservation doesn't guarantee you that you will actually get to do that. In fact, it doesn't even guarantee that you will be allowed to exit the highway! My son and I drove the 3.5 hours up from the Bay Area, got the to exit just before 10am only to be waved off by traffic control police with zero explanation (not even a sign). As a result hundreds of confused drivers are forced to pull over on the side of the road or make hasty/unsafe u-turns. I suppose my son and I were the more fortunate among the disappointed would-be resort-goers, as we lost an entire Saturday just driving and about $70 worth of gas. I can imagine that for others who may have rented equipment that loss is much more. I called the ticketing department to inquire, and their answer to address the lost driving time, gas costs, and possibly wasted rentals is "well, you can come back any day this season." What the hell? Not everyone has all this time on their hands to just randomly take the gamble of driving 6-7 hours round trip for the off chance that they might get in an 2nd-tier ski resort. When pressed further about why bother specifying the days you will be coming up, the response I got essentially amounted to "get your a** out of bed by 3:30 and drive or don't come, it's your choice". It turns out that they do make a feeble attempt to notify everyone by posting on their web site when the lot is full, but cell service is sporadic at best about 40 mins out from their location depending on carrier. On the day I drove up, the lot was full 20 minutes before I got there. Plus, are they expecting all their paying customers to pull over every 20 minutes to check their website or worse, scroll through their website while driving?! A robo call or a text announcement would have at least show a little more concern. On my disappointing drive back to the Bay Area, the on-coming traffic on the US 50 east bound was at a stand still bumper to bumper for about two miles with many cars having ski/board on their roofs. I can only imagine that some of them will suffer the same disappointing fate my son and I did as well as experience the same unsatisfactory customer service. I will have to go up at least one more time so my tickets won't go to waste. After that, I doubt I'd ever visit Sierra-At-Tahoe again.

Yelp
We had our winter adventure here for our not-so little nacho's birthday and we had a blast. We went here on a weekday and it wasn't busy at all so were able to maintain social distancing and there was ample parking. We went to Blizzard mountain for snow tubing. We paid $90 in total for 2 adults, which is the off-peak pricing for 2 hours. We were there from 12noon to 2PM, the ticket will show you the valid time for your stay. Children under 42" must be accompanied by an adult. What I love about this is the rope tow that will pull you to the top of the hill. There were 3 amazing staff who were there, one at the bottom of the hill, one on top of the hill and the other one who is helping you for the big slide. It was pretty fast but has the gentle stop, just enough adrenaline rush for a 1.5 y.o toddler, as well. We all had a blast! We'll definitely be back on our next winter adventure!

Yelp
Today on March 24th I went with my family to Sierra Tahoe resort because someone recommended it to us. We went to pay for the package for the classes and someone from the staff took my phone. It took almost an hour and my phone didn't appear until the person in charge of security arrived and went to start asking questions to the staff members and my phone was strangely found by my brother at one of the exits of the place where I never use. It's incredible that the same local staff takes the objects of the people who come to use their services. That's why we asked the head of security to check the security cameras so that it doesn't happen again

Yelp
I canceled and never even received any confirmation. Their cancellation procedure is ridiculous. I miss the 7am cancellation time and they won't refund my lift tickets.

Ken V.

Yelp
I was told on the phone that a lift ticket with a buddy pass would be $65 at the ticket window but when I got there they charged me $75 instead. What a ripoff! More like Sierra at sh$thoe that nickel and dime on everything.

Yelp
Lots of out of control skiers on the intermediate runs. No policing of out of control skiers. There are signs that say slow down at a few places. No one paying any attention to the sign and no employees stationed near by like I used to see. There is one particularly dangerous spot where the trail narrows then makes a sharp turn on the corkscrew run. This is marked as blue and then only intermediate way to get down the hill. Lots of near misses. On the second tight turn on the narrow part of corkscrew some hot shot skiers/snowboarders had created a straight shoot. This is too narrow to do anything but to come flying into the turn full of intermediate folks. I pointed out to the Customer Service Manager. He said "Oh yeah. That has been happening for a while." I finally got him to call ski patrol and post someone at this unauthorized dangerous collision course. I overheard someone eating on the deck who had stopped early because of the dangerous skiers. They had noticed the same thing on corkscrew. When I mentioned my concern about speeding to someone on the lift he said he ran into a large group of young adults all drunk. I asked the Customer Service Manager how many passes had been taken away from out of control skiers/ boarders this year. Answer none. Work has gotten out. If you want to ski/board out of control come to Sierra. I have been coming here for more than a decade. I have always loved this resort. I am so sad to see how badly it was run this year.

Yelp
12.27.2020 COVID-19 Pandemic Sierra Tahoe, Twin Bridges, CA Beautiful day! 32 degrees but everyone had a blast snowboarding and enjoying the outdoors! Of course no indoor dining or hanging out-- only outdoor seating, Mama's Kitchen - orders to go, coffee etc.
