Sandy’s Myanmar Cuisine Will Open Within Southeast Portland’s CORE Food Hall - Eater Portland

"Sandy’s Myanmar Cuisine was previously established by Mya Sandy Myint at the Kandawgyi Hotel in Yangon, Myanmar. Despite the general popularity of home-cooked meals in Yangon, her restaurant was successful and garnered praise from local media. However, Myint had to close the restaurant when she moved to the United States to prioritize her children’s education. Efforts to manage the restaurant remotely were thwarted by the infrastructural damage caused by Cyclone Nargis in 2008." - Brooke Jackson-Glidden

Signature is a lakeside restaurant offering a fusion of Chinese and Western cuisine. The environment is pleasant and relaxed, making it a good spot for a leisurely meal. The interior decor leans toward an American style, similar to what you’d find in a mid-range hotel restaurant — clean and comfortable, but not overly luxurious. The restaurant offers some Cantonese-style breakfast items, such as dim sum, but these are only available in the morning. This is something to keep in mind, as they are not served in the evening. You can browse the menu either on paper or through an iPad. While there is a fair variety of choices, the overall uniqueness of the dishes is quite average. Portion sizes tend to be small, so although the pricing might seem reasonable at first, the actual value for money isn't particularly high. Still, the lakeside setting and comfortable ambiance make the overall experience feel acceptable and not overpriced. One nice touch: each guest is given a small complimentary bread roll with butter. While not large, it's a thoughtful gesture and adds to the dining experience. In summary: Food: Average flavor, small portions, moderate pricing — 3 stars Service & environment: Relaxed and pleasant — 4 stars Overall rating: 70–80, depending on what matters more to you If food quality and value are your main concerns: closer to 70 If you're looking for a nice setting and comfortable experience: closer to 80

The interior is very nice, service is professional, dimsum is delicious. Prices are also very reasonable. You get more value than for what they charge. Free tea during morning time.

One of the best ways to start your day is to head to Signature for an awesome garden-side breakfast at Kandawgyi Lake. You’d hit the occasional language barrier with the staff, but they do have an English menu so you can just point whichever you like to the server. Most of the items they serve are Burmese or (Southern) Chinese cuisine. The steamed meatball was particularly good. Burmese nan gyi thoke and mohinga were also delicious. Would love to eat more but we had limit our orders to what we can finish. Burmese food can be a bit heavy on the stomach. :) Very affordable and great value for money.

A good place for breakfast. We always choose this place for breakfast dates. Should try dim-sum and Myanmar traditional breakfast. I just remember to take photos after eating dim-sum. 😀

One of the best fine dinning ever in town. One anniversary in this place and we were having fun. Can say romantic place and enjoy the food at the same time. Love to be there again expensive though. May be worth to try once at least. Toilet is clean. Foods are good. Dim sum is best of the best. Quite pack in breakfast and dinner, but quiet in lunch time. Outdoor seating view is beautiful.

Restaurant and bar of great location and amazing decor. It is great to stop by after a walk along Kandawgyi park. The aircon is nice and cold. Im always surprised to find this place rather empty for some strange reason. But it is thus even better as a place to relax in the nice aircon and decor

Signature. Myanmar food such as Mohin gar was served from Garden Bistro was carefully prepared but still influenced with MSG. Dim Sum had some errors like wonton cooked too much and melting, and beef balls too soft with flour.Price was quite cheap.

I love this place very much. The food is delicious with a very reasonable price. Outdoor sitting is fabulous with great lake view. If you visiting Yangon, highly recommend you to have a meal here.
