18 Top Hot Pot Restaurants in NYC | Eater NY

"One of the few remaining restaurants from when a Korean community thrived in Woodside is home to Sik Gaek’s Empire Spicy Seafood hot pot — a mountain of snow crab, blue crab, abalone, clams, mussels, shrimp, squid, and baby octopus capped with a fire engine-red lobster as the centerpiece. Udon noodles, enoki mushrooms, and watercress fight for space in the spicy broth. The $99 hot pot is ideal for sharing among friends in a room with casual tavern vibes and Korean hiphop. The outdoor set-up is styled with wooden slatted partitions wrapping around each table, and Korean menu items are painted onto wooden slats and blocks that hang from the makeshift wall." - Caroline Shin

Super nice Korean Restaurant! I live far from the city and accompany a family member for their classes close to this place. We found it to be a good Korean restaurant for our first experience. The staff was very friendly, asking if we needed anything and letting us know they're here if we needed anything! The food like the corn cheese was sweet but delicious! (Sadly, we didn't take many pictures) Me and my aunt are definitely going back though ❤️

I had my birthday party here over the weekend, and it was absolutely great! The food was wonderful—big portions perfect for sharing—and the service was amazing. From the manager, David, to the bartender, Michael, and the rest of the team(couldn’t catch their names), everyone made sure we had everything we needed. You can really tell this new management is a big upgrade! Highly recommend!

Sik Geek BBQ Restaurant is hands down one of the finest Korean BBQ spots I’ve visited to date. Service: Exceptional. The staff was attentive, friendly, and ensured we had everything we needed throughout our dining experience. 5/5 Atmosphere: Cozy yet vibrant—authentically Korean and thoughtfully arranged. A great place to enjoy a laid-back meal or a fun gathering with friends. 5/5 Food Highlights: • Crispy Calamari: A personal favorite of mine and a dish I always try if it’s on the menu. Sik Geik did not disappoint—the calamari was well-cooked and paired wonderfully with the accompanying sauce. 4/5 • Seafood Pancake: A hearty fusion of various seafoods enveloped in a crisp pancake. Best enjoyed hot. 4/5 • Pork Combo BBQ: Arguably one of the best BBQ experiences I’ve had. The meat was flavorful and perfectly grilled. The combo came with a delicious soybean stew—rich in flavor with tofu, zucchini, and the right blend of spices. The assortment of side dishes complemented the meal beautifully. Overall: An excellent spot to enjoy authentic Korean BBQ with quality food and top-notch service. I would absolutely recommend making a reservation in advance, as this place tends to fill up quickly.

Just had an incredible dining experience at Sikgaek—and honestly, it’s now one of my favorite Korean BBQ spots in NYC!🔥 Located in Woodside, just minutes from Manhattan, this cozy gem has been serving up authentic Korean flavors since 2010. They’ve recently refreshed their menu (seafood is out, more K-BBQ goodness is in!) and the space is beautifully decorated with warm vibes and super friendly staff.✨ We went all in with the Sikgaek Prime Combo—featuring Prime Short Rib, Prime Ribeye, and Prime Brisket. The meats were so tender and flavorful, and the best part? The staff grills it all right at your table, so you can sit back and enjoy every sizzling bite.

Google
Looks like a very interesting authentic Korean Restaurant. The price stopped me from entering. I know Korean food can be pricey but this place has the price of Manhattan Korean Restaurants. I was expecting Queens price so I stopped by after a recommendation from friends. Looks like a nice place.

Google
This place has been my go to and I go here at least twice or thrice a month for dinner. I’ve tried Korean food in so many places and lemme tell you this place food hits the spot every single time. Very good portion, staffs are amazing, food is great and the ambience is decent. Definitely recommend everybody to come and try here .

Google
I honestly love this place so much! I always bring my family here and they like it so much that it has become our weekend tradition to come here. I love the meats and the kimchi jjigae is delicious!!

Yelp
This place is one hidden gem in Woodside. Since day one it didn't disappoint. Was looking for a closer Korean spot by me since I'd go to K-town or in forest hills most of the time. The food is simply divine and the service is awesome. Great ambiance as well as it feels very homey. They offer traditional Korean dishes. My favorite is the Boodae Jjigae and their cheese Ddukbokki. They have a variety of meats to bbq as well and a range of drinks to choose from. Definitely recommended and a staple of mine now.

Yelp
This is a fantastic local spot that stays open late, offering a variety of Korean dishes. The marinated galbi is flavorful, and the spicy stir-fried squid is a solid choice. For the adventurous, they even serve live octopus--yes, raw with still-moving tentacles! It's a unique experience and a decent option for late-night bites.

Yelp
The food here is so good. I will definitely be coming here again. The servers were so attentive and brought us the food pleasantly fast. The place itself has enough tables we didn't need to wait to be seated and the ambiance is pretty quiet. When I'm in Woodside I be thinking of this place

Yelp
I hate to be an outlier in the plethora of pleasant reviews, but I had a mediocre Korean BBQ experience here on a Sunday evening. The ambiance is 10/10 though with plenty of group seating available and a large TV screen showing K-pop music videos. We got the takoyaki as a starter and given this is a well-known Japanese snack, we should have known better not to order it in a Korean spot. The takoyaki balls were way smaller in size than any other takoyaki I've had elsewhere. There were barely any dried bonito shavings and no green seaweed sprinkles on the dish. The batter was a bit undercooked and the diced octopus slice inside each ball was quite small. I wouldn't recommend this starter. For kbbq, they don't have a ton of different combo options: 2 beef and 1 pork option to be shared between 2-3 people and 1 mixed option for 3-4 people. We opted to get the non-combo option as the combo prices were higher than Manhattan prices (think on par with and maybe even higher than Jongro). Note that if you order two different meats, your bbq will not get cooked in front of you, and if you order beef brisket, they require for you to do a minimum of two orders since the beef needs to be sliced once you order. Needless to say, this was a rule heavy menu, making it hard for us to select different meats without breaking the bank. We opted to get two orders of the beef brisket to get our meat cooked in front of us. The brisket was thinly sliced, but still had lots of chewy and tough parts, not dissolving in your mouth at each bite. The kbbq did come with 2 orders of rice, lettuce, and some onions and mushrooms to be grilled along with your meat. The banchan was varied and overall solid. The portions of banchan in each bowl were quite small though, which made it awkward for us having to keep asking for refills every time. They have a good selection of drinks, including a few flavors of soju and makgeolli. The grapefruit soju is delicious and cut the grease of the meat perfectly. I'd want to try some of their stir fries, hot pots, soups, and other classic Korean dishes before ruling this place out. I came here back in the day when they weren't serving bbq and remember the hot pots being solid. I even had the raw octopus here back then, which has since been removed from the menu.

Yelp
Use to come here like 20yrs ago when it was still good. But things went downhill. The seafood hotpot was just made up of a lobster some clams, mussels, 1 small lobster, crabs, 1 abalone and bean sprout on the bottom. Pretty expensive for $99. Flavor was mediocre. Will not come back.
google avatar

Yelp
For delivery - this place is open decently late so it's quite convenient. They do provide banchan in a small 4 pack which was very nice. Bibim Naengmyeon ($15) - great value, came with half an egg and a few slices of beef. Flavor was great - super refreshing and tangy. Also came with the extra vinegar and mustard to further season. Large portion. Samgyetang ($22) - this is similar to a chicken soup, super great if you're feeling sick. Comes with salt to season yourself. The soup has great flavor and the chicken was stuffed with rice, ginger, and jujube. Comes with pretty much the whole chicken, which makes it a bit awkward to eat without transferring to another bowl. It's mostly chicken though, wish there was more soup.

Yelp
Great Korean BBQ place in Woodside, New York! The place is close to Manhattan, close to the subway and easy to travel. Amazing food and room to sit. Good service and good for group. If you tried of commercial place and want to experience local Korean BBQ, I recommend it.

Yelp
My friends wanted KBBQ in Sunyside that was NOT AYCE. I had noticed this restaurant while riding the 7 train decided why not. At worse, we will just go to Wonder Pig next time (an AYCE nearby). Food + Drink: 4.5/5 You should really go here with someone who has experienced KBBQ before because it will help you order strategically. Most of they grill items need to be purchased twice so double the price tag (see menu pics). For grilled items, we went with a combo with a side order of pork belly. This is a restaurant where they will grill for you and give you a great ban chan (an assortable of small sides). We ordered some appetizers (Jap chea + tteokbokki), the raspberry wine, and watermelon soju punch bowl. My disappointment were the Jap chea was really small (it seemed to be more veggie than noodle), and most of the meat seemed overcooked, as a medium rare steak lover. Still my group was happy we went and hopes to come back. All in all, I would go back. However, this place is not for those with light pockets. My group of four spent around $200 on this adventure but do not regret. This offers a calmer environment than Wonder Pig.

Yelp
I've been here a few times in the past, but I never got a chance to write a review. I wanted to check it out after covid times as I knew they made renovations. YES, they revamped the entire restaurant and the menu. Of course, with inflation, the prices of the food went up. But felt like it was a bit like ktown prices in the city. I went with a friend of mine and didn't make any reservations for a Friday night. It wasn't that busy, but they had a lot of takeout. Anyways, the food was pretty good and the portion size too. We wanted to get soup, and I wanted seafood. Decided to get seafood champong, which is a mix of seafood and spicy soup with udon. The soup was spicy enough, but not deathly. Also, I ordered an appetizer called Cheese dubokki, and it was really delicious. My friend liked it so much that she wanted to try to make it at home. I'm glad they gave us banchan and refilled it when asked, too.

Yelp
Had a great dinner out here. Service was great and food was delicious. However, i felt the meat portions were on the smaller side for the price. I also don't love that the cooking experience wasn't as hands on as I'm used to at other Korean BBQ spots.

Yelp
This may be one of the most fantastic-looking Korean BBQ restaurants I've been to. On night 3 in NYC, the crew decided to get some Korean BBQ, and Sik Gaek was the choice. The first thing I noticed was the superb illustration on the logo. I also loved the typography chosen for the menus. Sik Gaek is indoor and heated outdoor seating. Being that it was a bit cold, we decided to stay indoors. All the booths and interiors had the lovely warm streets of Seoul feel, with tv showing the latest K-POP videos. I loved all the Korean artifacts around the stalls and area. Our waitress was also fantastic, attentive, helpful, and willing to joke around with us a bit. Her energy made us feel welcomed. We got Traditional Kalbi, this white noodle soup, and kimchi soup and pancake. Which was all good Overall this was a good time and a great environment. Solid 4 out of 5

Yelp
It was the first time to tried this restaurant The owner(I think) and staff are very kind. The service was really good! We tried the beef and pork combo It was pretty enough for 2 ( I think it's a good size for 3) I asked a couple of times to refill lettuce and banchan and they did. But kimchi jjigae was so-so. The meat quality was ok. As a senior, it isn't easy to find a comfortable restaurant but My husband and I had a nice dinner there. We'll try again.

Yelp
Get the empire seafood hotpot! You get lobster, crabs, abalone, mussels, clams, squid, baby octopus and more!! The best part is they peel all the seafood for you! I would say it serves 3-4 people. Honestly every dish my friends and I ordered tasted delicious and the portions are huge.

Yelp
I visited Sik Gaek on a Sunday night and it wasn't that crowded at all. We were seated quickly and were able to order quickly. I was also able to easily find a free parking spot a street away. We ordered the beef intestine stir fry, ddukbokki, corn cheese, and empire seafood hot pot. I didn't really like the beef intestine stir fry, it was very gritty and tasted uncomfortable for me to eat. However, this is a bit biased as I don't like eating intestines in general. The ddukbokki was good, especially with the corn cheese. However, it wasn't as spicy as I'd like. The corn cheese was amazing, the perfect amount of cheesiness, sweetness, corn, carrots and peas. I was obsessed with the corn cheese, it's so simple but delicious. The empire seafood hotpot was delicious. The servers cut open everything for you, so it was easy to eat. The meal came out to about 30 a person and was able to fill up all 6 of us!

Yelp
fantastic budae I love korean food. Came here with some good friends for some din. Overall, solid asian fare. We started off with some watermelon soju which was incredibly refreshing (although not very strong - I guess this could be a good or bad thing). We also hit up some of that corn cheese and korean seafood pancakes, both of which came sizzling. For the mains, I got some seoulongtang which was solid. But I think my fav thing that we ordered was the budaejiggae. Huge pot of delicious ramen, spam, sausages in a spicy broth. There is actually a built in stove in each of the tables so the budae was piping hot the whole time. HIGH YIELD. Would come back for the budae.

Yelp
We came for lunch and it was a pretty good experience. I got the seafood udon and it is hugeeee! Totally worth it for $25! Also go the beef japchae. Will definitely come back to get their bbq!

Yelp
Service: We were a large party, 8-10 as people rotated. The server came pretty quickly whenever we pushed the button (which was often) and did not spend long to fulfill our requests. Food: Dishes were large and flavorful. Standard Korean fare. My friends ordered for me, so I honestly have no idea what I was eating, except one was seafood. The barbecue was average. Ambience: It was packed on a Saturday night. The music seemed to be Kpop and they played music videos on TVs scattered throughout the place. It could get loud, but it could also be because I was in the middle of a large party. Value: My portion between the 10 of us was over $60. I arrived late, so I think several dishes had already been eaten, but I was still hungry after I left. I would entertain returning with a smaller party, but the seafood dish was massive for any smaller group.
google avatar

David S.

Yelp
Went with my family (party of 5) for my dad's birthday. We got seated immediately upon arrival. The food was incredible. Ambiance was low key and pleasant. Service was top notch. Staff were highly attentive. Quality of all the ingredients used were great. Definitely will be going back shortly!
google avatar

Maggie C.

Yelp
I initially wanted to come because it was the only place the entire area that served live squid. I called a couple of hours before, and they told me they no longer serve that dish. Ok, well, I'll try it anyway since reviews looked fantastic. Alright so I made the mistake of coming alone, because their portions here for their meals are ginormous. If you want to order bbq, you must order two meats. Meats are 25$+, and the portions were large, so I skipped that. Soups and noodle soup options were anywhere from 20$+, and again, huge portions!!!! So I chose the spicy rice cakes and a grilled mackerel, which ended up being the right size for a lunch for one. Mackerel was amazing! Squeeze some fresh lemon on there, and you are good to go. It was crispy on the outside and flakey on the inside. Spot a bone? Don't worry, you can eat it without accidentally stabbing your throat, because they were crispy from the grill. Spicy rice cakes were just ok. No fish cake like most, and the sauce that they used was awfully tomato-ey and too sweet. Service was good! I was checked on often. For the two dishes, the wait time was pretty long, actually--especially since it was not busy.
google avatar

Jessica K.

Yelp
We got the seafood jonggol for 35 dollars and it was great. The flavor of the soup was delicious and for the price it's pretty worth it. I do wish they had a little bit more seafood in the soup but still very good! Would come here again and would love to try the Korean bbq!
google avatar

Jennifer T.

Yelp
Amazing Korean seafood hotpot. They also break down your seafood table side in a very impressive manner. For $99 it's a great meal.
google avatar

Tanya H.

Yelp
Good, overall pretty solid food. The meat would turn out a bit rarer than we'd like (medium rare), but not a problem. We got the haemul pajeon, which was as expected- I do wish there was a bit more seafood, but it was fine. Service was timely and they gave us an extra free stew since one of us is a regular which was nice. The restaurant is definitely built for group hangouts: there are pretty much only big booths. Definitely make a res before going, it gets pretty full.
google avatar

Ashley K.

Yelp
Amazing spot!! Can get bbq and massive amounts of seafood there. Perfect for a crowd. My friends and I ordered the $100 Royal seafood platter and it's so worth it. Big amounts of crab and lobster. Creamy udon was also ordered as a way to cut the spice. Also very tasty.
google avatar

Alan S.

Yelp
Solid stalwart Korean restaurant from the days when there was a thriving Korean community at this juncture in Woodside. We stopped in for a late afternoon snack on a cold afternoon and shared the kimchi pajeon and a bowl of veggie soondubu. The soondubu was very spicy, and the tastiest part was the perfectly textured poached egg in the stew. The pajeon was perfectly crispy! It's always hard to get these pancakes to that ideal texture.
google avatar

Alex L.

Yelp
Food was good but I was told to tip more after leaving 25$ on a 200$ bill. What kind of unprofessionalism is that??? Ive never seen anything like that before. Theres an abundance of korean bbq spots now so I would just opt to go somewhere that doesnt expect 50$ tips.
google avatar

Tiffany F.

Yelp
Ordered the army stew (a medley of ramen/spam/sausage/bacon/veggies) for food delivery. Food was okay but portions of the meat were little... Appreciated the extra seaweed they gave us though!
google avatar

Anna L.

Yelp
Sik Gaek is located in a bit of a lonely stretch by the 7 train. The restaurant is on the small side by Korean restaurant standards, but the service and food was very good. The prices are on the expensive side, but considering the sizes of the dishes, it is justified (can't comment on the BBQ portions though). My friend and I ordered the creamy seafood udon and the spicy chicken soup. We started off with ban chan which was delicious. Once you are seated, they make fried eggs in front of you. It was cooked perfectly! The other ban chan dishes were kimchi, spicy rice cakes, salad. The quality of the ban chan seems higher than other places. I usually don't like kimchi, but it was delicious, not too pungent. My favorite was the spicy rice cakes. I wish they had this as an appetizer. The salad was also delicious and fresh! Then they brought over complimentary steamed eggs which was nice and fluffy. The creamy seafood udon was a delicious creamy, cheesy concoction with squid, octopus, mussels, shrimp, rice cake and vegetables all topped with delicious masago! There was enough to fill two people. I really enjoyed the udon and rice cakes. The shrimps were not de-veined though. The spicy chicken soup 20 minutes to prepare but we were warned beforehand. The portion was also huge, consisting chicken thighs, potatoes and carrots. It wasn't too spicy and would go nicely with rice. We ended up with too much food.
google avatar

Paulina K.

Yelp
This Doenjang Jjigae hit the SPOT! On a cold day, I was feeling sick and this soup brought me back to life. Flavorful, fresh, deep and nourishing. Ordered on Doordash and 10/10 experience.
google avatar

Waheda I.

Yelp
This place was so perfect. The hospitality was just flawless. They start off with 4 complimentary starters. Salad, kimchi, egg, and rice cake (very delicious and not too spicy.) Then they bring out complimentary steamed egg (one of my favorite staples of Korean food) it was so fluffy and amazing. Me and my friend went overboard and got two dishes. We couldn't finish it. The seafood udon was creamy and decadent. The chicken stew we could barely eat, so we had to take it to go. If you're coming with just 2 people, just get 1 dish. All the complimentary starters will fill you up. If more than 3, the I would recommend 2 or more dishes. The portions are massive, food delicious and service unmatched. Loved it!
google avatar

Zhen W.

Yelp
I ordered there soulongtong off doordash. Seriously this place is a ripoff. It had 2 thin slices of beef and the rest was just soup. The picutre is exactly what i recieved after i poured it into a bowl. Literally nothing else. Isn't it suppose to have bones, scallions, something?! I won't be ordering this place again.
google avatar

Susanna M.

Yelp
Been here a couple times, the service is good and fast but slows down closer to when you're getting the check. Which is fine, not worth detracting a star over, especially since they have buttons to let the staff know you want something. The food is good and the portions are large. I really enjoy getting food here--dine in or carry out.
google avatar

Dennis F.

Yelp
If you don't mind the videos and noise, the food is excellent and the service is acceptable.

Matt C.

Yelp
Food was good. We got the seafood hot pot. Nyang myun was good but had not Asian pear. Don't get the watermelon soju. $35 for watermelon water is a joke. I don't think they put soju in it
google avatar

Yelp
Takeout Review!! We ordered Ojinguh Butter Gui (butter roasted squid) omgggg- I love squid so when I saw this, I knew I wanted to get it. It is super tender and flavorful. You get this entire squid in a garlicky buttery sauce. Only downside is that it was on the pricer side :( Hemul Pa-jeon (korean seafood pancake) this was a solid seafood pancake. Huge order with lots of seafood inside! Japchae (stir fried glass noodles) - regular classic japchae, nothing bad but also nothing super special! Bulgogi Beoseot Jeongol- mushroom stew with bulgogi- this was HUGE. It came in a bucket! It was still steaming hot when we got it. It's sooooo good. Perfectly seasoned tons of bulgogi! Feeds about 4 people !

VeeVee P.

Yelp
It's quite the unique experience. The empire seafood pot was huge. It was filled with all the goodies from the sea that we love to eat - lobster, shrimp, crabs, crab legs, mussels, 2 types of clams and fish cake. My other dining companion appreciated the vegetables and udon noodles. We also ordered the prime rib and pork for the grill and for the price there should have been a bigger portion. We all enjoyed ourselves anyway. Great dining companions, good dinner, great service.

Yelp
Food: 4/5 Stopped by to eat. Ordered the clam soup and the grilled assorted shellfish. The clam soup was very refreshing and full of flavor. It had a very generous portion of clams and vegetables inside. I've always been a big fan of clam soup! The assorted shellfish was fresh and the portion was generous -8 clams on half shell, 15 little neck clams, 4 scallops with cheese and 4 shrimp. They serve fried eggs in the beginning with a side salad, kimchi and ttukbokki. Dinner was roughly $75 and we left very full and satisfied. Service: 5/5 The service here was great. They helped us cook everything, took our clams off the shell and made the overall dining experience very pleasant. Very accommodating staff. Ambiance: 3/5 Stopped by for food but realized it has more of a bar type atmosphere. Sort of dark and retro inside. One tv and funky decorations.

Hung C.

Yelp
Good service, good food and fair price. We are enjoyed our dinner. But no parking slot is not convenient.

Yelp
I had been so excited to go here and it turned out to be a disappointing waste of $$$. When you enter the restaurant, the aroma of seafood hits your nose right away. The seating area is moderately sized and decorated with wooden tables, like most pubs in K-town. We made a reservation, but on a Friday it was rather empty. We ordered the live octopus ($30) and it was what you expected it to be; slimy but an experience you want to try out. They give 2 sauces to dip it in. The aftertaste was unpleasant - it tasted like dead salty fish. I had a few pieces and was over it. We also got the famous seafood hot pot. It smelled delicious, I was drooling! There was a generous portion of shrimp, mussels, a few lobster legs. However, at $100+ this was a let down as the broth was extremely bland. It lacked seasoning, so the fish itself tasted uncooked and bland as a result. For a dinner that cost $150+, the food was not good at all and lacked flavor. However, our waiter was very friendly and attentive so I feel obliged to give them 2 stars for staff services. 3/10, would not recommend.

Helen Kim N.

Yelp
So glad for Sik Gaek - one of the few Korean eateries left in the area! The vibe is always fun - kind of like popping into an eatery in a side street in Korea. We ordered the tteokbukki - chewy and true to classic Korean taste. Seafood soondubu was tasty as was the crispy seafood pancake. The jeyuk bokkeum was also delish. The server was attentive and friendly. All in all, a solid restaurant true to Korean recipes.

Prima Z.

Yelp
Food was ok. Thought the seafood pancake didn't have much seafood besides octopus. The texture was great though. The beef bulgogi was nice but a lot of extra veggie and beef was all chopped up and came in such a thin container. For 30 bucks felt like a huge rip off. The cold noodle didn't come with an icy broth like I thought it would. Pretty plain for $15.

Yelp
3 stars for food 1 star for service 1 star for ambiance This is my second time here! The first time I came here, we were seated outdoors (due to the pandemic) the second time I went we were seated indoors. I was highly impressed by the food and how fresh everything was. The first time I got the watermelon soju (I would not recommend because the watermelon was not fresh) The second time around the got the lychee soju. (That was really good) My friends and I ordered the live octopus, pork belly, Takoyaki, army stew, rice cake. (Note: it's live octopus) I didn't give it a try but my friends were obsessed. All the food we order was delicious! The food was serviced hot and there was an abundance of flavor. The service was amazing. Our service came to check in on us and was always available when needed.

Yelp
SO DELICIOUS! One of the best meals I've had in recent memory. We went on a Friday night and ate a lot of BBQ and drank the big watermelon cocktail (in an actual watermelon!). Staff is very friendly and the environment is fun. Highly recommended! Great place to bring out of towners, too.

Yelp
It's a little shocking when their signature popular dish (the seafood hotpot) is not good whereas the other dishes were much better. Came here for outdoor dining (covid19 summer 2020) and was able to get a table for 4 without much of a wait time. We ordered the seafood hotpot, galbi, seafood pancake, thin sliced pigs feet, grilled squid and the watermelon soju. The food was good EXCEPT for the hotpot. The seafood was just not fresh so major disappointment. Also, seafood hotpot is not great with a constant flame going because it can easily over cook the seafood in the pot. Because it's a big dish, it's almost impossible to take out ALL the seafood before it overcooks. Location wise, not great for outdoor dining. It's right under the 7 train so it's pretty noisy. The whole point of covid awareness is to not shout across the table which I feel you have to do if you want to talk to your family or friends.

Yelp
covid19 review: Did an order through doordash and it came promptly. The food was warm by arrival which I appreciated. Ordered quite a bit of food. I think a stand out was the butter roasted squid as it contained a lot of pieces! A disappointment was the kimchi fried fried as the portion were a lot smaller then imagined. The bulgolgi was a bit flavorless, but the spicy fried pork was the exact opposite (highly recommend). They also gave all the pickled starters on the side as well.

Yelp
The food was amazing! Authentic Korean food with good music and vibe. The waiters are very nice and attentive. Food came out fast and didn't have to wait long

Yelp
Came in with four people on a Wednesday night. Was seated inside after some wait time. No one came to take our order for about 15 mins. After finally flagging down a waiter, he told us to wait as he flagged down another waiter to take our order. We waited another 25 mins for the first appetizer to arrive. After about another 10 minutes, the our blend tasting japchae finally arrived. Took another 25 minutes for the seafood stew (which tastes like powdered instant soup) to arrive with the waiter somehow bringing a wrong order along with it. Took literally an hour and 10 minutes for our bulgogi to arrive. The cherry on top of this awful meal was that somehow the bulgogi and the japchae looked and tasted like exactly the same. My question to the restaurant, if they were both the same dish, why were they brought out 45 minutes apart? Took a picture of the two dishes, judge them for yourself.

Yelp
Finally got to try Sik Gaek recently after my wife and I had been talking about it for a while. Went with my parents who are pretty picky about their Korean food. We got 2 orders of sam gyup sal (pork belly) and 1 order of the Empire haemul jeongol (seafood hotpot). Pork belly was delicious wrapped in red leaf lettuce with marinated white onions and was a healthy portion. Hotpot was awesome. Lobster, snow crab, blue crab, abalone, clams, mussels, shrimp, squid and baby octopus. Broth was delicious with udon noodles and watercress included. My parents loved it which is really saying something. Surprisingly great service for a Korean restaurant. Good value. Will return.

Yelp
First time visiting. I was surprised to see a very limited menu. They don't have hotpot until November. So, I had the seafood soup & the seafood pancake. Both were good but $20 for the pancake was way too much, it wasn't any better than the ones you get at the Korean take out or Hmart. My brother ordered the galbi & he said it was okay, he prefers the galbi at Picnic Gardens more. Service was very good and attentive, we were the only people dining, so it's kinda expected. With so many amazing Korean spots to try in Queens, I don't think I'll be back here. It wasn't a great experience, overall it was okay. Happy Yelping!

Yelp
Come early as they can sell out of the live octopus which is what I experienced. Regardless the food and service was great so I cannot fault them for being so popular. Conveniently by the 7 train, this place isn't really too tough to get that. Came here with a group of friends and it was a great time! We started off with their ban chan which was delicious and include rice cakes! Love them rice cakes. We then did a seafood pancake, their seafood hot pot and some pork belly bbq. Everything was what you would expect. Flavorful, fresh with plenty of fish and veggies. Yum to Korean food!
