Went here to grab lunch with coworkers. Portion size is good and you can choose your base and spice level. Ordered the chicken + chili paste with dry mixed noodle and medium spice level. The medium spice was actually pretty spicy so be careful when choosing your spice level if you have a low spice tolerance. I would come back to try the other options.

Great take out! The service was fast, nice. Pack everything you need. Portion of food large at a reasonable price. Authentic taste. Beware, the MILD spiciness is hotter than you would expect :)

I asked for mild spicy (in a scale of 1-no spice; 2-mild; 3-medium; 4-high) and the food was simply incredibly spicy. I couldn’t eat it at all and my stomach started hurting. I asked the employers to please change the meal but they said they couldn’t help. At least they should give a hint when ordering! I eat spicy all the time and this was simply toooo much. I tried removing all the peppers to see if it would help but it didn’t.

Very delicious rice noodles. Dry mixed noodles are the best. Mild is already spicy enough for us! There’s no other guests. If you walk in you can chill out and enjoy the food, as I observed most orders are food delivery or take-out. Would be much better if they can offer a self-service water station. Will definitely come back next time!

The two bowls I had were very rich with flavor, you can taste the smokiness from the wok and the spice really adds to the dish. Would recommend you to visit.

First off, I am writing this from my toilet because yesterday I decided I wanted noodle soup. Spend almost $200. It was a waste of money. My girlfriend got sick because the the food was disrespectfully spicy. Chunks of spicy red pepper will destroy your buttocks. the food here is like if your wife or husband that is a bad cook said “Hey Babe I made Chinese tonight”! The spice levels don’t make any sense and will probably spoil your eating experience. I don’t recommend this place at all. There is sooo much good Asian cuisine in that area, just avoid this one unless you want to feel like a blade sliced your rectum 👎🏻👎🏻

I loved it so much before. But this time during my visit, I feel disappointed. I didn’t know when it increased the price again, and it seems I got less. I was more than full when I finished a bowl before but now I am even not full. The taste is still great though.

My favorite noodle restaurant in the greater New York area. Authentic taste and reasonable price with large portions. Have tried more than half of of their noodle selections and enjoyed all. Not so much for their dessert though. If you enjoy strong flavors and spicy food, this is for you. Their spicy level is no joke and a true Chinese standard.

I've been to this chain twice now. They have locations throughout New York. I used to love Xian Famous food so much, but I think it's got competition! This place has a similar concept as Xian - you go up to the counter to order your dishes and they are all served in plastic disposal utensils and bowls whether you order to go or dine in. Food comes out in about 5-15 minutes. I've tried the: - Spicy Squid with noodles 8/10 - Tofu with minced pork noodles (summer special!) 8/10 - Hot and Sour Fish soup noodles 8/10 - Cold sweet flower jelly 10/10 - Hunan Fried Tofu 10/10 Even though this place seems to be a fast casual place, I was amazed by the quality of the food. I really enjoyed everything I've eaten here so far and the flavor profile is amazing. The Hunan tofu is so good - I really like the pickled veggies they used. The cold sweet flower jelly is the perfect summer desserts. The entrees are great, they didn't seem to skimp out on the ingredient. I would say the ingredient to carb ratio is maybe around 2:3? Can't wait to come back and try different dishes next time!

The food here is SPICY!! There were a lot of immigrant Chinese coming here for lunch, so the food is definitely authentic Hunan cuisine, I just didn't expect it to be so spicy. If you get anything other than Mild, which I stupidly did, it is like a 9/10 on a normal spicy scale. If you like really spicy food, this place is for you, the flavors were solid. It was just a little overwhelming, I could only eat about a third of my dish. I might try it again and get it 'Mild' to see if it's more palatable, but I don't think I would seek it out.

Solid bowl of noodle soup. Really hits the spot, great price point, and was still piping hot when it was delivered. Noodles were bouncy with a great texture. Really slippery which is great because they didn't arrive as a massive clump of starch. Had the fish soup and the spice level was great, could be spicier, but I was perfectly happy with the soup without modifications. WAIT JK I added pickled string beans. I forgot. Those were GREAT. Should be in every bowl of hot and sour fish soup. Have yet to visit this place in person, but judging from the photos they seem to be following the trend of clean sparse wooden interiors with counter ordering. Fine by me! Looking forward to visiting in person.

Simple good chinese. Had the chairman mao pork - marinated nicely good heat, noodles were drunk enough and delicious. Loved it.

Great spot in the Times Square area. Came in with my co-worker and enjoyed everything about our meals. Wasn't too busy inside which was nice, however we noticed lots of take orders while we waited for our dinner. Place was quiet and clean. I got the squid with the dry noddles. Medium heat because the guy working said it's super spicy. I like spice and it had a nice kick. My entree was excellent. The string beans we shared for a sides...AMazing!!! Order them no matter what! Great spot, good prices. Would come back again for sure.

It's rare that you can order a meal from a restaurant and immediately understand the usage of an adjective such as "silky," but, oh my god, there is a tantalizing silkiness here at Silky Kitchen. The noodles, the dumplings, the smoothness of service, it's all very real. My go-to is the dumplings (+ extra dumpling). These are the best dumplings I've ever had. They're worth the wait. I usually supplement this with one of their standard noodle dishes. The fish and soup noodles is good--way more fish than you'd expect. The pork ribs are also wonderful, and I'm someone who often claims that ribs aren't food. Would advise ordering in advance.

Silky Kitchen has some really great authentic Chinese food and I'm glad I finally tried it. One of their locations is smack dab in the middle of the Broadway district so I opted to have a dinner here. I must say, don't underestimate this place I highly recommend this hole in the wall versus any restaurant that has a fixed pre-theater menu. I got the vegetable dumplings and fish soup which is more than enough food for one person. The vegetable dumplings unfortunately lacked any flavor which is why I knocked off a star but the fish soup was absolutely fantastic. It is a bit sour (I believe they put pickles in it) and is quite different from other soups but it 100% works. There was a generous amount of fish given as well. All in all, I'll be back to try more items on their menu, especially as a pre-theater dinner.

Came here for a quick bite after work and couldn't be happier. It's a fast casual place, and most people were ordering for take out. Service was quick and efficient. I had the spicy pig trotter on top of soup noodles, with an added soft boiled egg, and it was everything I wanted on a cold winter day, super flavorful, hearty and fulfilling. The portions are generous, and medium spicy is legit spicy. I will definitely be back, and will bring friends!

One of my go-to lunch places, amazing value and great food quality. You can also order online to save time! Nomz: My go-tos are S3 pork + pepper and S11 hunan style beef. (I do want to try the stewed beef eventually). I usually get them with rice but I have tried the dry mixed noodles which are also delicious. I will say the noodles tend to absorb the spice a lot more so beware. Their spice levels are no joke. I started at spicy and it was so spicy I could not properly enjoy - as someone who prefers spicy food. Medium is still pretty spicy - I tend to go mild nowadays and for me the flavors really come out at mild. Service: The staff taking orders is super nice, the restaurant is a well oiled machine - very efficient. Ambiance: The inside is well lit, cute, minimalistic and usually has plenty of seating available since most people pick up. Nope or Dope: Dope! I start craving it every week, their flavors are delicious and they are generous with the rice and noodles, I usually have a snack for later. Try it out!

I initially walked right past this shop, it's a bit narrow and tucked back from the street, but I'm glad I decided to go in. I stopped in before heading to a performance at Roundabout's Laura Pels theatre. Silky Kitchen provided the perfect grab and go, yet healthier made-to-order option. The woman at the register was very nice and helped me figure out my order. I went with the noodle soup base and the pepper and pork. I can see this being served over rice, but it was a cold day and I wanted a warm broth. I went with the mild spice level, which had a good kick. If you actually want mild, I'd order this with no spice and the ingredients will do the trick. I came alone and found a seat at a long table, which is one of the most efficient layouts I've seen for solo or small group dining. I grabbed a stool and hung up my jacket on the wall. I waited about 7 minutes for my food to come up. Every dish is served with a piece of bok choy which is what drew me in. This is probably one of my favorite veggies. The portion size was enough to feed two. I couldn't finish it all in the 20 minutes I had before I had to rush to the show. The plates are well worth their value. It's definitely a casual vibe, but the food is quality and the location to the theatre is super convenient. I'd recommend this to anyone solo dining in Times Square that wants something a bit better than pub dining and more affordable than Utsav.

What's better than an authentic Hunan-style stir fried beef bowl of noodle soup on a cold day? Not much I figure. The spice level of extra spicy is on point for me-- numbing, fragrant, dances on your tongue in the best way. Cant get enough of the silky rice noodles soaking up the flavorful broth. Food come out very fast after ordering and there's plenty of seating inside its sleek and modern interior :)

This is a great place to stop by for a meal before a Broadway show. I've tried the Chairman Mao's favorite braised pork dry mix noodles, the Hunan style sauteed beef dry mix noodle, and the shrimp+chive+pork dumplings. The prices for the portion size are a little on the expensive side compared to Chinatown pricing but I would consider it a great deal in the area. There is ample seating (order in the back, grab any seat) and a restroom for customers. Service is friendly.

Great chinese food option in midtown. Its a little pricier than you will find in other areas, but normal for the area. Menu is actually fairly large for this fast casual option. Lots of tasty options, I usually elect to have hunan beef noodles. Note that this can get spicy. Even medium is a little hot, so be aware if you get anything hotter than that. I enjoyed the flavors a lot. Portions are fairly large. Another plus is that are a few tables/seats available.

I usually have a rule about reviews: I don't name other restaurants. I am making an exception here because I think it is the most helpful way I can explain. Silky Kitchen is a quieter and arguably better Xi'ann. The portions are heaping, the flavors are authentic and bold, and there are actually vegetables! I had the phenomenal Hunan Style Beef (S11). The spice level was excellent. The beef was good quality and not overly fatty. The design inside is cool. It's sleek and very modern and, in a way, contrasts with the traditional-style food. The biggest contrast though is the price. Few places in Manhattan look like this, serve food like this, and offer such a great deal.

Authentic hunan style dishes where you pick a base, a type of noodles and a spice level. Even the mild level has a nice spice to it. We tried the dumplings too: very flavorful! We were pleasantly impressed with the flavor and quality here. We had the chicken and chili, and the pork and pepper. Each had a unique flavor profile.

Very clean little place off Times Square that smells heavenly and has a somewhat limited menu but that only aids to their complete mastery of the delicious food. Beware that the food definitely means spicy. If they say it's mild spicy it's medium elsewhere, but tasty enough to more than pull it off!!

Stopped by on our way to a show last night. I ordered the hot and sour fish soup noodles and my husband ordered the stir fried chicken with chili paste with noodles. We were warned about spice levels, so I changed my order from medium to mild, and my husband, who has a pretty high spice tolerance, ordered spicy and was sweating during part of the meal. Both of us enjoyed our meals. We got our food within 10 minutes of ordering. I'll definitely think about coming back here with more time the next time I head to a Broadway show.

Chinese fast food located right off time square, convenient location. The space is very clean with a long communal table for people to share. If you want a fast and quick authentic rice noodle, you should pay a visit. The price are very affordable and good portion that you can be satisfied. Food is delicious and staffs are very friendly. Do remind everyone tho clean up after you finish. Saw many dirty dishes left on the table.

Updated review - still grateful to have this place nearby. So far I like all the dry/mixed noodles I have tried, wasn't a fan of the soup version with the fish. For dessert, I personally like the cold sweet flower jelly more than the sweet rice cake. The rice cake was just bland mochi ball with no filing and coated with brown sugar. The chili oil is a nice addition to the rice noodles, it's more about the fragrance not the spiciness. I somehow find that the green pepper/jalapeno brings the most spiciness in my order. If you ever find your food is too spicy, you can always pick out the jalapeno, add vinegar, or order a drink/dessert.

This was a great spot for a quick meal. I had the extra spicy hot and sour vegetables over noodles with a fried egg. I enjoyed the tangy flavors and the firm texture of the noodles. The food was prepared quickly and the price was also reasonable.

Came here for a snack and we got the pig ears salad and homemade cold sweet flower jelly (not pictured). The pig ear is so flavorful and tasted very authentic! If I were to describe the texture, it would be crunchy and chewy at the same time. The jelly was perfectly balanced with it's sweetness. The price is a steal for the area and surprised there aren't more people eating here.

As a vegetarian, there were only two choices for me, so I got the hot and sour vegetables. No tofu and the only two vegetables that I don't like (bell peppers and celery) were the majority of this dish, aside from greasy spaghetti noodles. The restaurant was clean and staff polite, but the food was mediocre at best and overpriced for what we got.

First time reviewing, but have been here multiple times. My friends and I love this place - the noodle dishes are consistently delicious, and service is so convenient and fast. I usually get the hot & sour fish noodle soup, and it's always yummy. Definitely would recommend to anyone looking for a delicious casual Chinese experience!

Wow. I just finished eating my food delivery from here and I had to leave a review! It was so authentic and delicious. I ordered the pork liver with peppers over rice, pigs ears and fried tofu. Fried tofu was average but the other two are so delicious that I was reminded of China. I didn't know about this restaurant until door dash but will definitely visit the restaurant in person soon! If you want to try authentic Chinese food, can't go wrong here. I rarely give 5 star review but this one deserves it.

Silky kitchen is great! My new favorite place in the area since my go to lunch spots closed due to covid. I love that anything on the menu can be ordered over rice or as a noodle soup, I always opt for the noodles but have tried a little of a friend's order over rice. All the soups are delicious, I often end up drinking all of the broth. I also ordered the pork shrimp & chive dumplings once which were okay, but I ate them after being reheated later so I can't give an accurate review of the dumplings when fresh. I also really like the vibe of the restaurant and always end up eating my soup there to get a little break from the office and avoid eating at my desk. Recommended orders: Pork & hot peppers; Hot & sour fish; chicken with chili paste. The short rib noodle soup was alright, good texture but not my favorite.

The last takeaway I ordered was delivered to me by mistake, and I was promised to be compensated with a powder, but I didn't realize that the merchant was actually playing word games, saying that the compensation was for a mere powder, not one with a dish to go with it, causing me to have to place a new order for the order I had originally placed.But the merchant didn't help me cancel the order to reorder either, and even if I accepted their word game, they didn't offer me any help for this situation, letting their mistake affect my order once again.I care not about a few dollars, but this very poor service attitude, overall a very bad service experience, I hope the owner can see to give me an explanation.Don't betray the trust of consumers.

A spot for quick and tasty lunch. Suuuuper impressed by their stew beef that was tender through and through. Was pretty meh by the noodles and soup tho. The noodles were too mushy and soup didn't have very strong flavors. I'd get the beef on rice instead. Their Shrimp, Pork, Chive dumplings were good. Juicy and thin casing.

Executed my GrubHub order without issue, on time. Friendly, intelligent and responsible staff that made the transaction relatively easy. I asked for a paper receipt and at first got a little pushback, then help and success. The food was hot and good and more than enough for one meal and it was good warmed the next day.

This place is really close to time square so we had to come here so we had to come here since I was craving noodles. I was just a little underwhelmed. The food was so salty, partly attributed by the spicy was, but I could only taste salt. There weren't enough noodles in ratio to the meat and veggies. I had to really search for the noodles. The meat and veggies were ok, other than spicy. The chicken was nice and tender. I mean, the noodles were ok but they didn't do it for me. The service was slow when we went which is ok because there was a long line during lunch hours. It reminded me a little bit of fast food, since they come in these single-use plastic containers (I guess you could reuse them again if you are into sustainability). We just threw them away because we couldn't take them with us. It was incredibly hot to the point of sweltering in the restaurant, since there likely isn't an ac in there. The shop is a little bit underground, so there isn't a lot of air circulation. Overall, the noodles were ok.

If you're questioning the spicy level to choose, get MILD! I learned my lesson. I thought I could handle medium; the employee telling us led me to believe I could handle medium. NOPE! I spent most of my meal picking out peppers and chili seeds. They gave us some broth to dull the spiciness which helped. The spiciness aside it was a good noodle bowl. There was the right ratio of ingredients. Not too many noodles. Plenty of squid! I look forward to trying other dishes with MILD spiciness!

BLUF: it's a little pricey for the portion size, but good tasting and fresh. I went here on a weekday evening looking for a quick, good chinese food meal. It's a small place with a few tables and a counter for eating. The staff was very friendly and helped me make my choice of food. One downside: no eggrolls. Kind of a standard of chinese food, but they don't serve them. They recommend their dumplings instead. Not a big deal, but if you like those crunchy eggrolls don't look for them here. I got a pork and pepper bowl. You have your choice of base (noodles or rice), which is nice. You also pick how spicy you want your food, from mild to very spicy. I picked medium, but the woman at the counter talked me out of it saying their food is spicier than other places and play it safe with mild. Well, no such luck. I really would have liked more heat. I had already gotten back to my hotel, so couldn't just pop back in to get more heat. I'd suggest if you get a takeout that is "mild" that you ask for a little container of chili oil or something to bring with you. That said, the food itself was very good. Fresh tasting and well seasoned. if you don't like spicy, you'd love it. The price is I think a little high, even for midtown area, but in this area I have paid more for less quality.

Really authentic Chinese food from Hunan. And genuinely spicy! My parents who are from Hunan region loved it. Would recommend mild or medium spicy if you are not into really spicy food.

Perfect spot to stop in a for a quick bite in midtown. Order at the counter from a small, authentic menu and they'll call your number when it's ready. I always make sure to get an order of the stir fried string beans -- dumplings are insane too

I enjoyed my first time at Silky back on 2/3/23... A lucky day! I happened to be waking to Columbia U and out of the corner of my eye I saw Silky. I knew at that moment I had to go in. The weather was freezing that day I remember. The soup I had came in handy. I had a delightful conversation with a gentleman who was also trying SK for the first time. What were the chances we both would try SK for the first time on the same day?

A nice lunch place with beautiful interior. It gives off a Xian famous food vibe, but more diversity. You can choose the meat, carb, and level of spiciness. I would go back to try their other dishes.

Their hunan style noodles which encompasses a ton of peppers, was very tasteful. We went with a party of 12 and a lot of us ended up removing most of the peppers. It was our first time so we didn't realize but you can request for less of it. Major issue here was their style of service which was close to nil. They gave my husband the wrong level of spiciness that we had ordered for our sick son and then refused to correct it. Pretty thoughtless and rude. I'm a big stickler for service. Would have highly recommended them if not for the horrible response.

One of the best Chinese food meals I've ever had. Dumplings, pork entree, dessert, all spot on and delicious. I'm considering coming here again for dinner today. Two lunches wasn't enough. Super yum. Also quick and nice setup.

I didn't really enjoy this meal. Both options we got seemed super greasy. My niece got the stew beef which seemed super fatty and gross looking. I got the pork rib meat which was more fat than meat--like thick ribbons of fat. The dumplings were tasty and the noodles were ok but I really didn't enjoy this at all

I was freezing so I walked in . The place was clean and the energy was inviting. I ordered a soup that was hot and tasty . The rice was delish and not greasy like most places. The tea was served hot and they provided me with nice juicy lemons to add. I definitely defrosted myself . The food was tasty .

So happy to discover this place - What a hidden gem right around Time Square! From the decor to the food, you would definitely be in for a treat! Once you enter through the very low key storefront, you're immediately transcended into a world of relaxation and calm from all the hustle and bustle of the outside world. The majorly wood decor is both simplistic and elegant decor with a very zen vibe. The curvy communal table in the center kinda reminds me of a giant noodle! So many varieties of dishes to choose from! For the main dishes, basically it's a 3 step process where you 1st choose the protein / topping (Ma in Hunan language), then you can choose the style you want to pair with the toppings - dry mix noodle, soup noodle or rice and lastly pick the spice level. Fair warning - Choose careful when it comes to the spice level, Hunan cuisine is known for its spiciness! The extra spicy (aka Hunan Spicy) is only for the brave souls! All the toppings are made to order! You'll definitely taste that wok hay - Uncle Roger would've approved! Lol A lot of the key Ingredients are imported from Hunan - I was especially impressed by the smoked bamboo shoots which has a crunchy texture and a sophisticated deep flavor that comes from a special smoking process and then it sucked up all the flavors from the broth and the stir fried pork. The thick flat noodle is their specialty which apparently requires a length and complicated process to make that can take up to a whole day and night involving grinding the rice and then aging the noodles. These noodles are made from scratch - starting with the special rice imported from Hunan which needs to have the right level of starch content to create that signature smooth and silky texture of bona fide Hunan noodles (the stickier and more starchy rice will yield a more cheung fun like texture). Because of the time and efforts it takes to make these noodles, they're limited everyday. The noodle broth is stewed for loooong time with pork, chicken, and various other bones which gives it a deep and multi-dimensional flavor profile which get absorbed by the noodles. Didn't get a chance to try their non-noodle/rice dishes. But they sure look enticing!
