Long Beach Exchange Nabs Silverlake Ramen - Eater LA

"Silverlake Ramen is expanding throughout Southern California and has recently joined the food roster at Long Beach Exchange (LBX). Known for long lines at its original Sunset Boulevard location, it continues to open new spaces, including a Third Street Promenade location, an Echo Park to-go space, and a York Boulevard spot. The LBX location is set to open in 2019." - Mona Holmes

Google
We went for lunch. Had their combination option: Shoyu noodles & the crispy chicken appetizer. Those crispy chicken appetizers were really good. Add a touch of the lemon with the sauce...great! The shoyu noodles were very good too. They add more items in their bowls than some other Ramen places...they add the seasoned egg and seaweed to their bowls at no extra cost. Excellent value for the money. We shall return!

Google
LOVED my ramen! Classic tonkatsu was very good, one of the best ramen bowls I’ve eaten. Rich silky broth, just right chewy noodles, large cut of pork that was tender & flavorful, and a perfect egg on top. Not overly salted. Will definitely be back!

Silverlake Ramen @ the LBX has come in handy many times. Looking to have some delicious Ramen? Come on down and order yourself something yummy! You might see me there so make sure you say hello!!!

Google
The broth at this ramen restaurant is exceptional, rich in flavor and depth, making it one of the best I’ve tasted. They offer a diverse selection of ramen bowls, each with unique ingredients and styles, so there’s something for everyone to enjoy. The customer service was impressive; the staff was attentive and friendly, ensuring a positive dining experience. The seating is self-service, which adds a casual vibe, and for those on the go, there's a convenient takeout option available. It’s worth noting that parking is shared with several other businesses along the strip, so it might be a bit crowded during peak hours, but the delicious food makes it worth the effort.

Google
I had the spicy ramen. The ramen noodles were like spaghetti noodles, but the chicken was very delicious but probably won't be back.

Google
New location for S.L.R. They have a Tatsu Style ordering process now, I’m not a fan of it considering the lines get long standing there. Broth taste creamy & the noodles were good, can’t recall the chashu taste The karaage chicken was delicious. I would come back.

Google
The food is super delicious 😋😋. The service was ok but our waitress was blan no smile she looked tired and not too happy, maybe had a bad night who knows. Anyway go for the food you won't be sorry. Next time I'm trying the rice bowl, it looked so so good, I can't wait to go back. I'll let you know when I do. As always happy eating 🙏😋😋

Google
1st time to this place. Ordered the Blaze ramen, spicy with pork combo with gyoza. You can order different spice levels as well as different proteins. Broth was good, and pork belly was delicious. Gyoza was nice and crispy. Sercice was friendly and fast. Only minor complaint, is not enough noodles for the price. Although, you can order extra noodles for an additional $3. All in all, I would recommend this place.

Roy R.

Yelp
The food was absolutely splendid We ate the Blaze Ramen and gyozas. Would definitely recommend

Yelp
We tried this place (finally!) and it was really good! The portions are perfect! Not overwhelming like other places. Our waitress was super nice and funny. The place itself is small, but it does have outdoor seating. They have music playing and it just has a really nice vibe.

Yelp
A friend recommended this restaurant and I'm so glad she did. A couple things to know about this place: 1. They are insanely popular and there will be a wait 2 because they are insanely popular and there is a wait - they are also extremely busy with take out and pick up orders 3. The dining area is small, this causing some of the wait times 4. This place is SO WORTH the wait! Be patient. I ordered the black truffle ramen and a tuna hand roll. The ramen was amazing and I was able to take my leftovers for lunch the next day. Everything about the ramen was top notch. The staff was so friendly.

Yelp
I had a terrible experience at the restaurant tonight. The staff was very rude. When I asked the male staff member--whose name I didn't catch--who our server was, since no one had come to take our order, he replied that there were only three servers and someone would get to us. However, since the location isn't very big, this explanation didn't make any sense. I requested to be seated on the side, and he had an attitude about it but eventually allowed us to sit there. What frustrated me the most was that everyone else in the restaurant had already received their food while we were still waiting for someone to take our order. Finally, the girl who was working that night came over to take our order, but she forgot my drink. Not once did anyone check on us to see if we were okay. I had to remind her about my drink! When it was time to leave, the male server returned to take our payment and asked if I was done with my food, even though my bowl was still full. I understand it was the end of the night, but at the very least, he could have asked if I wanted a takeout container. What really hurts is that this was one of my favorite ramen places, but after this experience, I won't be coming back. After we paid, I asked an employee named Justin for the manager's number because I felt the service was unacceptable. He was the only person who was respectful throughout the entire situation.

Yelp
The place had good vibes all around, our server Eric came through with good music and food. Definitely Recommend for anyone that's looking into this place. Please give this place a try !!

Yelp
Delicious Curry Rice Bowl!! My boyfriend got the Large Curry Rice Bowl with Tofu, and I got the Regular Curry Rice Bowl with Chicken Karaage. We noticed the curry was darker than typical Japanese curry, but the taste is exactly the same! The curry did not have the typical potato and carrots, but it did have mushrooms which were delicious! We both thought the Chicken Karaage was better than the Tofu since the Tofu was not fried and was almost the same texture as the curry. The Chicken Karaage offers a crunchy texture to the curry! The Pickled Cucumbers were delicious, they look like they were made in the restaurant because I have never seen Pickled Cucumbers that look like that. The employees were great! They were very kind, they checked in on us a couple times, and they were very attentive of other customers. The restaurant is very clean! The table we were sat at was still a bit wet, but it was fine. We wiped it up. There was plenty of seating inside and outside! There were booths, indoor tables, and outdoor tables. There was a good amount of people there on a weekday in the afternoon. It wasn't too noisy or too quiet. I would come here again! I'm not a fan of ramen, but my boyfriend is, so I'm glad they have rice bowls I can enjoy when he has ramen!

Yelp
TRUFFLE RAMEN. Got the garlic truffle ramen and the broth was very creamy. The noodles were thick and chewy and the egg was perfect. The chashu was different than most ramen places I frequent. Instead of three thin slabs, it's one thick piece of protein. It's was super soft and didn't taste like it was refrigerated previously. The components for a good ramen were all present! I did get a mini tummy ache after finishing. But it was very minor. The broth was so rich that it was probably too much for me to handle on an empty stomach. Then on top of that, they added the truff oil. I still enjoyed it though.

Yelp
I visited the Silverlake Ramen and ordered the small chicken bowl. The crispy chicken was delicious, and I also liked the sauce with ginger. However, I didn't feel well an hour later. I told my husband, and he asked if I had eaten the whole bowl. I said no, and he suggested I smell the bowl. He said the chicken smelled bad. I agreed, even though it was really crispy and good when I first got it. I thought maybe the ingredients made it smell bad, so I took everything off and reheated it in the oven, but it didn't make a difference.

Yelp
Had a great lunch with my son at this place. It's usually busy but today seemed perfect. Our server Eric was really nice and had a Playlist that was fire and made the place seem more alive. I had a really great time today.

Yelp
Pretty fast & friendly service! The portions of the ramen are great & filling. Definitely hits the spot on chilly nights. It can get a bit loud because of the smaller space but there is some outside seating. Always leave happy & full.

Yelp
The food here was ok. Service was good but the vegetable ramen was somewhat bland. We also tried the spicy tuna on crispy rice appetizer which also didn't have as much flavor as normally expected.
google avatar

Sha M.

Yelp
Pretty good! The noodles are on the thick side. Wait time was accurate, they'll call you when they have a table, i waited in the car. Had the veggie. Nothing too much to say here. Its just what i expected.
google avatar

Rachel M.

Yelp
Fast and delicious. I enjoyed every bitw. Pork was tender, flavors were on point, and the sushi hand roll was stuffed so I got my monies worth. Service was quick. Definitely a place to return to.

Yelp
Sigh... Let me preface this by saying this place used to be one of my favorites. Used to stop by during work hours to get dumplings and the occasional ramen. Over time, I stopped going because they ran out of dumplings often and the ramen wasn't really on point. Well, today, got a DoorDash since I don't have time to leave work today. When I tell you, it was horrible... I ordered the regular ramen with chicken and an appetizer (chicken kaarage). The appetizer is old. There is no way it was fried today. They arrived cold. Microwaved them, tried a bite or two, then threw them away, in hopes of avoiding food poisoning. The ramen...cold. Old looking chicken and veggies, egg looks old...even when the broth was microwaved and added to the noodles, the noodles stayed hard as a brick. Now I remember why I stopped going...

Yelp
We came into Silverlake Ramen for a snack, so no big bowls of ramen for us. We got pork buns, chicken karaage and gyoza. The Pork buns were our favorite, however I wish there were more toppings inside. The chicken karaage came in second, it was very flavorful but the chicken was a little tough. We could have skipped the gyoza with no problem. The oil poured out from the gyoza, they were not properly sealed which affected the taste significantly. The service was excellent, everyone works so fast and efficient here, we never had to wait for water refills for the check. When we sat down the menus, table and seats were wet. We grabbed napkins off the table and wiped them down ourselves. I think someone must have quickly wiped it and thought it would dry by the time someone came in to sit. I'm not sure we would return, however if you come in for ramen, I suggest adding the pork buns too, they were great.

Yelp
3.5 My daughter was craving ramen so we decided to go to this place to have some. Looks like a popular place in the area. We immediately got a table and ordered our food choices. We ordered the following.. The Blaze Ramen -Spicy creamy pork broth, bean sprouts, spinach, green onion, seaweed, and seasoned egg. Added Chicken The Veggie Ramen Vegetarian. Vegetable broth with miso base, bean sprouts, corn, mushroom, tofu, broccolini, baby greens, kale, red cabbage and avocado. I believe I ordered a shrimp tempura roll as well. Overall the food was average. The blaze ramen was ok and I had ordered my veggie ramen without the miso and I actually enjoyed it. The sushi roll was okay. Service was teamwork as there were different staff members supporting each other (5 rating for that) I tried to keep an open mind but I felt that because I've been to many ramen places this was okay.
google avatar

Jessica P.

Yelp
Beware! Make sure to check your bill before you pay. They didn't bring us an itemized check but instead our server came with the Apple Pay machines to tell us how much we owe. However, during our visit we ordered two ramen bowls, creamy broccolini and a can of soda. Everything was brought out to us except for the soda. We were totally fine with that and decided we didn't want it anymore. So when it was time to pay our bill, I asked the server if the soda is still on the bill and he simply replied with "I'll go ahead and take it off" and he walked away to whisper something to his coworker. He came back with the same machine and now a different price. Obviously it wasn't a big price difference but it was a dishonest move on their part. Overall the food was good but I would not return after my experience.

Yelp
Been wanting to try this place out for years and finally tried it! Silverlake Ramen is located near the Long Beach airport and near the Hangar. It shares parking space with so many other restaurants and stores, finding parking here is a nightmare. I noticed that they had Naruto collab, not sure if there was any special Naruto ramen or merch but I didn't see any. I ordered the Combo ($20.50) for a choice of ramen and a side (Combo is available for dine-in only). I ordered the blaze, which is spicy tonkotsu ramen, and ordered a side of pork bun. Pork bun came out quick and it was good. For the ramen, I personally don't like the type of noodles they use (personal preference). Their broth is a bit bland. I loved the toppings everything else tho. Interior is very nice. Servers are nice as well. Good ramen spot if you're in this area.
google avatar

Lars H.

Yelp
The veggie ramen is really good. The broth makes it all come together. They also have a great new curry going with Impossible katsu. Combined with the pickles, it is my new favorite over here. Thank you, Eric and Justin for the great service!

Yelp
I've been to the OG Silverlake ramen a few times and loved it. My friends and I thought we would stop by here because we've technically knew what we're getting into. Unfortunately, my partner got really bad food poisoning from the food here. usually we don't leave reviews due to food poisoning, but genuinely it's the worst he's ever gotten it. I've been trying to communicate to the restaurant about our situation and also in hopes that they can investigate in the kitchen, to figure out the source and prevent it from happening again. I've tried calling a total of 20 times already and no one answers, not exaggerating
google avatar

Carrie J.

Yelp
Definitely 100 stars for the food and service.. we come here twice a week.. absolutely love the ramen and broccolini.. but 9 times out of 10 they are out of something that we came for.. we live in Downey and drive a few miles to Long Beach when we get the craving and we only like the chicken.. sometimes they are out of the chicken and we end up eating at the restaurant next to Silverlake.. We don't understand how they can be out of some thing so often .. whoever is ordering the food isn't doing a great job at it.. there's always a sign on the door listing the things they are out.. I will boost it back up to 5 stars when this stops happening.

Yelp
This place is too perfect. It's so filling. The food is amazing and the staff is very nice. Funny story, my dad was supposed to ask for forks but asked for spoons. - Jude
google avatar

Yelp
Very good ramen! The staff are friendly and the restaurant is conveniently located by the LBX with plenty of parking spots around. The place is casual and laidback. My usual item here is the veggie ramen and I ask for them to add truffle oil. It never disappoints!
google avatar

Jenny B.

Yelp
Ramen was great (I recommend the garlic truffle ramen). No complaints about that, nice options to choose from and very flavorful. Staff were friendly and answered any questions I had. Service could use improvement- After the servers took our order we never saw them again until they gave us the bill. We ordered water to drink and weren't offered any refills. No one came to check on us to see if we needed anything else. Towards the end they just gave us our check, didn't get asked if we wanted anything else. At that point I had to ask for more water, and wanted to order the churros with ice cream. I don't recommend the Churros with ice cream. Ice cream was so hard and frozen our spoons wouldn't even cut into it (even waited or 5 minutes to let it thaw but it didn't help). Churros we're still kinda frozen on the inside when they gave it to us. Just stick to the ramen! Yummie ramen!

Christopher R.

Yelp
Fireeeee 10/10 I recommend 100% the food teste amazing. I 100% come again. Yeydyfy

Yelp
Fantastic ramen. I ordered the "Blaze" ramen. The broth pairs great with the veggies and pork. I love a little spice with mine and the level was just right. The grilled gyoza was perfectly golden and was a yummy appetizer. Came here twice in one week because I loved so much! Plan ahead because the place gets filled fast.
google avatar

Jazmineannette H.

Yelp
Good customer service! Very attentive! Great ramen! Ordered the Shoyu on fire ramen. I chose tofu for my protein. The broth was creamy, rich & flavorful! The noodles had a great texture to it. Came here for dinner with a friend of mine. The prices here are affordable! The ambiance was nice. The decor was simply & nice. Pretty string lights & moderate noise level.
google avatar

Abril S.

Yelp
Hands down, my absolute favorite ramen spot! I've been here a few times, and the service is always so fast and reliable. The ambiance is really nice and spacious, so you can just relax and enjoy. The ramen? Incredible! I usually go for the original and add chili paste on the side so I can control the spice level. Last time, I got a side of gyoza and edamame--the gyoza was perfect, and while the edamame was a bit overcooked, it was still tasty. My only little complaint is the portion of meat, but the quality of the broth and noodles totally makes up for it. Highly recommend anyone in the area to make a stop here! It's a MUST try !
google avatar

Sylvie N.

Yelp
This is our go to for ramen lately, just because most of their locations have dog friendly patio, and this one did have a patio. Ramen can be salty for some people but I feel like it needs to be that way to better coat the noodles. I usually get the classic with extra bamboo shoots on the side. Service was good and attentive. Nice, clean and quiet patio.
google avatar

Kathryn R.

Yelp
Everything we ordered here was really flavorful and tasted great!. My only warning is to order your soup later. Me and my friend ordered a couple appetizers and the ramen. They ended up bringing everything out all at once. It was difficult to enjoy the soup, hot, because we were trying to eat everything at the same time. Other than that, we really enjoyed the food. We ordered the garlic truffle ramen with pork belly. The belly paired nicely with the broth since I believe it's a pork based broth. The chicken karaage was crispy and the sauce was perfect, needed to ask for more lemon cause that was really good with in the mix. I wish the crispy salmon rice came with more. It was $7 for two pieces, but it was so good! I would eat it again.
google avatar

Lamia A.

Yelp
We were excited to come here for lunch as we've tried this before, but in San Diego and it was amazing! We were seated right away and made our selections. Unfortunately, the service was poor; we waited over 20 minutes until my husband had to go outside and find our server to put in our orders. The server brought us waters and my water cup had dried seaweed stuck to it which was very unappealing. We ordered the spicy chicken bun, the tempura handroll, and we both got the shoyu ramen. The spicy chicken bun was good and super spicy - so be careful if you can't handle spicy foods. I was disappointed about the handroll as half of it was filled with artificial crab meat and it was so huge!!! Not what I was expecting. The ramen was average- not impressive. Our server would check on us from a distance and when we were done eating, we had to wait for him to come back around for a while to ask for the check. I would try something else instead in the area instead.

Frank H.

Yelp
I went into the restaurant was set at a table. The waiter brought my wife and me water, we sat there for five minutes and another couple came into the restaurant and were seated. Approximately five more minutes passed, the waiter came out and passed our table and went to the guest who were seated after us and began taking their order. After a couple of minutes another waiter came to the table, we ask him if the tables were assigned to waiters he said no. We let him know that we had been there for a while, the info wasn't important to him. He then asked if we wanted to order, at this time I knew that my patronage was not important and it was time to leave. The service is truly lacking to say the least.
google avatar

Autumn L.

Yelp
My daughter and I love a good ramen and unfortunately not too many in the area satisfy my palate. We stopped by here for lunch before visiting family and the food was top tier! One of the best ramen places I've had in SoCal for sure. Definitely recommend if you are in the area.
google avatar

Andy D.

Yelp
The chicken karrage bowl is a bang for your buck . I definitely recommend it because it fills you up and it's good with rice.
google avatar

Audrey M.

Yelp
We came here specifically for my so. Because he loves the Soboro bowl. He's 6z. No rice for the Soboro browl. We got three combos and there was No sauce for the broccolini and no edamame which were the sides we wanted with our combos. My broccoli didn't come and I had two pieces in my ramen. Idk if it came with my ramen or they just didn't give it To me as a side. I had to go across the street to buy rice for my son. It wasn't a great experience this time around.
google avatar

Desire N.

Yelp
Best ramen I've had. I got my boyfriend into ramen with this location. I know it is a franchise, but no location tops here. I'm not sure why but I feel when I order the spicy it just doesn't come out spicy at the other locations. Maybe the cooks here at just better what can I say. The staff have always been friendly and attentive. The location itself I think deserves it own five stars because it's so fun just to walk the area and there is so much to do. An ideal day is getting a bowl of ramen here and getting ice cream from next door
google avatar

Peter B.

Yelp
First time, last time. Chashu was cut very thick, broth lacked character, egg was semi-hard. Couldn't believe a satellite of the original could be ranked so lowly, and I'm just surprised it's not lower.
google avatar

John V.

Yelp
Ordered Silverlake Ramen to-go the other day and wanted to give my honest review. Takeout ramen is always tricky so I try and be fair with my reviews, but Silverlake Ramen definitely left more to be desired. Temp was okay. The portion seemed smaller than their typical bowls. Lastly they forgot the eggs which was a dagger. Flavor was good on both the spicy tonkotsu and shoyu bowl. But we've had better. For sides we tried the crispy spicy tuna and cali roll. Crispy spicy tuna was great! But only came with (2) pieces. Overall I think dining-in might help, will probably try again.
google avatar

Kelvin R.

Yelp
My first visit here was probably about a month or a month and a half ago. I was here with my girlfriend because she really wanted to try SilverLake here in Long Beach. We came when they had the Naruto collab. We came in, and we chose to sit outside, and then we were greeted by the waiter who kindly took our order. We ordered two soups, two side orders, and drinks. One order of gyoza and one of spicy chicken karaage, I believe. We got our ramen and started eating. We waited a few minutes for our drinks, but we had to remind the now waitress that we ordered them. Usually drinks come first but no worries. About another 10 to 15 minutes later, we still haven't got our sides, and we're now about halfway through our ramen. When the girl comes back, we tell her we ordered sides, and she tells us she's going to check. She comes back and says they are making them, and they will come in a couple of minutes. Another 10 minutes or so pass by, and we are now basically done with our ramen. The waitress comes by and tells us she's going to check once again. At this time, the original waiter who greeted us comes over and apologizes that the food wasn't done on time and gives us the option to refund or get the food. We chose to get the food but to go. I'm I'm not sure if they were pressed for time or if they just forgot. Nevertheless, the ramen was good, and the chicken and gyoza were good, albeit we had them later that night. I'm going back for sure, but hopefully, they don't forget this time.

Yelp
I really enjoy the ramen here. It's tasty and flavorful. I usually like to formulate my own thoughts about a place but I did read about the service and wanted to see for myself. Every one has a different experience. Unfortunately, I agree with the reviews. People here seem as if they don't want to be there. The hostess was ice cold and overall, I didn't like the vibes. Which is ironic because they use #serving good vibes... yeah, no, not really. They may not serve good vibes but they do serve good food. I don't really like kale but in this ramen, it just worked!!! I loved the mushrooms and I especially liked the egg. It was really delicious. I've been to the location in LA, and it's just a tad disappointing about the service - I would frequent this establishment more if the service was better.

Yelp
Thick broth yum!! I love it too much! Somebody stop me! Service, amazing! Casual ambiance!

Yelp
Great place to satiate our ramen cravings! Broth was delicious and the noodles cooked to perfection. We will definitely come back for more!

Yelp
Silver Lake Ramen LBX is a great place to gather with friends and family for a delectable meal. The staff is exceptionally friendly and knowledgeable, and the Pork Buns are a must-try.

Yelp
Always excellent service. Thoughtful servers. Clean restaurant & tasty food! Their noodles are the best consistency & recommend the fried gyoza.

Yelp
Food is delicious and quick service atmosphere is great! This is a must. My daughters and I come here often 1-2 times a week.

Yelp
Dont use paper bowl for to go order. The paper on bottom stuck with ramen when taking out.

Yelp
Overall: decent ramen but there are definitely much better ramen places out there for better prices. Service: pretty good service. The staff were nice and attentive. They do add a gratuity charge for parties of 6 or more. Food: I remember coming and eating here before but this time the food did not taste as good and the portions were much smaller. The ramen broth was oddly oily and the pork chashu was slightly dry. The garlic truffle ramen did not have a strong garlic flavor. They also don't let u do substitutions like removing the kale and substituting in spinach instead. The only way to do that would be to remove the kale and add spinach for an up charge. The food was decent but not as good as other ramen places. Ambiance: hard to tell since we came at an odd time and there were not too many people in the store.

Yelp
On my first visit to Silverlake Ramen (LB) I received a professional and friendly greeting from 'Eric.' The order was to go and Eric also assisted me with recommendations from the menu. Ordered chicken ramen in chicken broth. Great choice. I was appreciative of Eric's professionalism and great customer service!

Yelp
Waited a while to try this place just because I'm not really a fan of ramen. I prefer udon but I was pleasantly surprised and so glad I gave it a chance! I ordered the Shoyu on fire ramen combo with a side of karaage chicken. The chicken was crispy and buttery along with a delicious creamy dipping sauce. The ramen had a rich and savory broth with plenty of flavor and right amount of spice. Service was excellent and the food came out really fast. I highly recommend this spot and will for sure be back to try the other flavors!
